When it comes to shipping Makoto with Kusuke, I have two very different opinions on it depending on how seriously I'm taking it.

Because, realistically, they would be toxic as HELL. I mean, we've got one guy who's canonically clingy, possessive and jealous over his loved ones - and this is assuming he somehow gets over his sister complex in the first place which is uhhh gonna be difficult - and one guy who gets off on competition and conflict. That is going to be one hell of a train wreck.

I don't think them being together would solve their issues, in fact it would possibly make them worse. They're both awful, and if they're put together that awfulness is gonna be multiplied to fuck. It's just gonna be a great big mess.

On the other hand. It would be really fucking funny.

Bad and Foolish have the best dynamic in the world, it's like when there's romance or friendship in a film that you can actually root for and enjoy because they have big chemistry and big banter. And the way they actively seek each other out to be silly even if it means krilling and destroying stuff? Amazing. 5 star meal.

Also the way Bad is the silly one who is lowkey pining and Foolish is like "aw man not this again" but is 100% enjoying it.

Their dynamic would only work well in this minecraft/fantasy setting because of all the krilling but I love it. I live for immortal soulmates who hate each other with lust (god that sounds weird but you get the picture)

In my opinion there are clearer reasons? 1. Hannibal was the psychiatrist his boss assigned to him, that would interfere with both their livelihoods, he didn’t like psychiatrists and he disliked Jack’s anger even more, 2. Hannibal’s the Chesapeake Ripper, who murdered FBI agents and innocents and is the antithesis of who Will tried to be, 3. Their connection forces him to address his darkness, if he can accept that in someone else it shatters his own attempts at morality and self-shame, 4. Hannibal betrayed his trust, destroyed his mind, health, reputation, freedom and happiness in various traumatizing ways, 5. And last but definitely not least. He imagined Hannibal gasping in bondage as he forced him to confess his feelings about love before making his blood burst out of him as an orgasm metaphor. And got off to imagining monstrous stag man Hannibal looming over him in the firelight instead of gorgeous Margot, who was right there (and probably picturing hot women)….. Yep. thinking about klavier gavin again because i saw someone say that the fact that he's the only prosecutor in the series who wants to find the truth and isn't insanely obsessed with winning like the other prosecutors makes him really boring

and i understand it to some extent when comparing him to other prosecutors but... Klavier Gavin??? BORING????

after playing aa4 i was OBSESSED with klavier gavin and the untouched potential of this guy

he loses his best friend/bandmate, his brother AND his mentor in the span of like a year?? i think??? which is INSANE.

there's something very tragic about klavier, a person who values finding the truth above all else, finding out that two of the people closest to him betrayed his trust and lied to him and used him for their own means AND ARE MURDERERS.

and then his mentor, a person who taught that seeking the truth is what a lawyer should do, gets murdered by a person who believes that winning in trials is the most important thing above all else WHICH IS THE SAME EXACT THING THAT KRISTOPH VALUED AS WELL !!!

this core belief of finding out the truth that klavier has, leads him to finding out about the things that daryan and kristoph did, and even though they are important to him, people he CARES about, he continues to work with apollo to see that justice is served.

and the fact that we don't get to see anything of klavier getting any closure after the events of aa4 makes me insane

we never get to see much of klavier's feelings on what happened or him fully processing the events of aa4 and that one case in aa5 and it makes me soooo upset. i wish he got more than that little cameo in aa5 and that one tiny flashback appearance in aa6.

in an alternate universe, aa4 got a true sequel that fully explored klavier's character, as well as phoenix's, klavier's, AND apollo's relationship with kristoph, and klavier's relationship with phoenix post-aa4, and also a more thought out? (for the lack of a better word) backstory for apollo, and an exploration of the jury system, and a game that ACTUALLY built upon the foundation that aa4 laid out.

and i am forever upset that we are not in that alternate universe.

I'm not a big fan of the interpretation that hinako had no idea about what was going on behind the scenes of kazui's stage, or atleast the feeling I get from how some people talk about her like she was completely naive or in the dark

I mean, half shows their relationship straining quite clearly. they're shown on opposite sides of the room, not even facing each other. I feel like any partner would start to wonder and have doubts about why things aren't the same as they used to be, why their love isn't spending as much time with them anymore and starting to pick up habits associated with Drowning One's Sorrows in (drinking and smoking)

No, I think she most definitely had her doubts. I think she brushed these aside, justifying them with the whole "he would never" shebang, I mean kazui was the one who asked her out in the first place so surely not? Right?

I think it makes her reaction contextualised a lot more, and it makes more sense to me.

This isn't the face of just someone realising their partner has never romantically loved them, it's also the face of someone whose deepest worries, that they brushed away because they trusted their partner, being proven right.

i think that i've figured out why i don't like show sally.

ok like don't get me wrong, virginia kull?? she ATE with that interpretation. her acting?? amazing. like i could truly get the core of her character.

it's just that i don't like the character the writers give us.

cw: discussion of abusive relationships, of toxic family dynamics, probably a good bit of generational trauma. I don't really get into details except with stuff shown on the show and written in the books but i wanted to be safe.

as someone from an immigrant household, as someone whose mom works a part time minimum wage job, as someone whose seen and been there as my parents fought, i just really really dislike sally's portrayal in the show. and it's partly because of poseidon and partly because of gabe (mostly because of her character in general but yeah, lets get the men out of the way first)

I feel strongly about poseidon in his relationship to sally very specifically. i don't mind his relationship to percy either books or show. but it's pretty damn clear to me that this show was written by someone who's never experienced sally's situation, of being the single working parent with an absentee partner (or in gabe's case a partner who literally ahHHHHHh). because from the beginning, from sally's reaction and snark to gabe, I felt like something was wrong or off, and it was Specifically the show because i read the books and i watched (some) of the musical and i never felt that way towards either of those. i'm not saying that my family situation is sally's (don't have a god for a father for one), but. by all accounts sally knows that this is an abusive relationship, the only reason that she's with gabe is because of the protection he offers percy. i have to assume that this is true because sally jackson turning gabe to stone is something i'm assuming is staying in the show, and i remember this being mentioned by grover? or someone in the first few episodes. and the cord that struck in me was not the traditional (that is, visible, defined, i don't like this word but i don't have a better one) abusive relationship but relationships in my community, of women staying with husbands because of their children, women outright saying this, women who know the world is cruel to single women and to single mothers specifically. sally, to me has never been under any illusions that gabe is any sort of relationship material. she has never been under any illusions that poseidon would be able to help in any way.

and that crux of sally's relationships made her first scene in the show all that more jarring. but it's not anything specifically that i can put a finger on. and maybe i'm wrong for this or maybe i'm expecting too much. but. sally doesn't have the resentment or the quietness or the bitterness or even the loudness that i expected. you have been the only true caretaker for your child, the only one in the house that really puts food on the table and on top of that is expected to do emotional labor? to cook and clean or at least pick up the food?

but she treats gabe like he's an annoyance. someone to brush off. and you see the manipulation tactics from gabe, you do, but.

its not that i want sally's spirit to be crushed. my mother's spirit wasn't crushed. the women in my community, they laugh, they cry, they watch silly tv shows, they have lives that they live, and in many cases they live well.

but the women that i know are also angry. they are either on fire or they used to burn. when they banter with their partners it often turns ugly because they are tired of the same damn argument day after day, because often the trivial things that are asked are compounded and compounded and compounded because you live in the same house, there is no escape, there is no private space, not really.

it's new york and sally works a job to support an apartment and her family. they are not well-off. sally has no support network we can see, and how could she? poseidon mentions that she has no one to talk to about these things, her parents are clearly out of the picture. all this to say. there is a certain understanding of class that exists within the books that was excised, i believe unknowingly, from the show, and it is the worse for it. there is a tiredness, a worn-down-ness from being low income that sally had in the books, but in the show i only see a struggling first time single parent. i don't see the complexity of a woman who literally gave up on finding a fulfilling relationship to be with a man for her child. i don't see the complexity of a woman working fulltime and still getting demanded from at home. and i didn't realize that I wanted to see that until I saw the show. i didn't realize that that was what i loved about the books.

i hate that they tried to bring poseidon back into sally's life as this perfect man who through cosmic forces can't help. i hate that sally calls him, i hate that he says he'll listen. but most of all i hate that sally just accepts him, falls into him. it's really hard to be a mother when your partner doesn't seem to help you parent in any way, even if he cannot help you. he's a greek god, there's no way in hell that he can begin to understand the lengths that sally has gone through to sacrifice and survive, the very human things that she's done. sally in the books thinks of poseidon as a sweet memory, almost a fairytale, and it's clear that this story is the one that brings her comfort. poseidon is a one night stand, a sweet stranger, she understands he's not coming back. but this poseidon comes when sally calls, and that i cannot believe. i cannot believe that she still thinks of him as the fairytale man, that she accepts him so easily if there isn't that distance. i cannot believe that there is no resentment, that she still puts faith in him as her god (the first episode when she talks about him just felt so wrong to me) if he's not a memory, but a recurring figure. this is not a story of star-crossed lovers, sally feels too real as a human being for that.

sally finds trust, finds contentment, in the books after percy leaves home, after she no longer has to put up with gabe for his safety. she does not find poseidon again. she marries a human man, a very ordinary human man who cares for her. poseidon visits after she is in this relationship and its an amicable one. he is percy's father but also distant memory all in one. sally has the strength to survive a terrible relationship and still find a way to heal and live fully after that.

but the anger. the fire was there. she turned gabe to stone. she reclaimed her life with her two hands.

you don't kill a man for no reason. you don't kill a man without emotion.

but it's that reason and that emotion that i don't get from the writer's room. and it just makes me deeply sad.

To be serious for a minute I don’t even think I’d be sad if AidaIro kills Mitsuba again… just annoyed. It wouldn’t be a surprise, everyone expects it’s to happen, and I honestly don’t think it would be very good writing?? It’s just redundant… we’ve seen Mitsuba die several times before, we’ve seen Kou grieve. As he’s dead in the og timeline also it wouldn't really be a reason to convince Nene or Akane that the new timeline must be done. Don't get me wrong I think a lot of the fandom will be uspet, because he died, again. But honestly I struggle to see what purpose it would even serve for the the story, thats not just a repeat of a already done storyline I doubt it would even have real shock value considering people expect it…

Don't get me wrong it's not that I don't enjoy there writing and I'm not insulting what they've done so far, just wary for the future I suppose.

Not to say however if someone else in the cast dies I think that could be really interesting.(I don't think it can be Nene cause main character, or Akane because then there just kinda stuck in the new time and it gg, and I would hope it wouldn't be Aoi because she already has a kind of damsel in destress issue)

But honestly I really have no idea what direction AidaIros gonna go soooooo, tbh I think it would be really funny if the red house was just like, a normal house

And finally last night I read 2 fics by the same author that hit the spot for me. Dick's characterization was like catnip. And seeing Tim fanboy over the fact that Robin Dick called him cool was sooo cute. I also just really liked how Bruce was characterized in the first one. Well, both Bruce's. There's a past Bruce and a present one. (Past Dick and Present Bruce held hands ahhhh so cuuute!)
