i just remembered that canonically, sirius got to godrics hollow after hagrid.
which means that after he had his godson taken away from him (bc lbr that’s exactly what hagrid and dumbledore’s orders basically did) then he went into the house and saw james and lily’s dead bodies alone. no buffer in the form of harry crying out for his parents or even the godfatherly instinct of making sure his kid is alright.
he was there, with his brother and friend’s cooking body, all alone. stewing in grief and pain and rage and guilt. ALONE.
do we even know how long he was there? for all we know, he could’ve been catatonic right there besides james all day.

Accidentally went on MDZS twt and saw a "wwx was SO affected by classism" (valid by itself) take and the subsequent "yzy and jc called him the son of a servant all the time!" (Former did, latter literally says "what kind of servant has their master peeling Lotus roots for them?" He is still classist but I think it's pretty clear wwx is Family to him) takes. For good measure, JGY's name was also thrown around a bit "I don't know how anyone can sympathize with him, classism or poverty or not..." well.
There was also an LQR picked on wwx because he was a servant explanation that got quite a few likes... And I was just... Blocking people left and right for my peace of mind. I was so glad for a second that I've built my own bubble here.

Small headcanon; When he thinks or is absolutely Sure no one is watching or listening, Embarrassment will do things like sing or dance to himself. Letting loose and having fun while he's by himself, but would immediately die on the spot if he were to be caught in the act. Has a genuinely nice singing voice, truly kind of a goofball when he finds it Safe to do so.

holy shit i just got a "jesus saves" lecture from the lab nurse. took me by surprise because i've seen her many times before and she was always very nice and only asked a few respectful questions about the whole trans situation. like geez maam i thought we were cool!!
#she ambushed me asking about my family and idk why i didnt think of lying as an option#so i said i didnt really have much contact with my family anymore#and she kept pushing for more info and then “strongly advised me to read the bible and put my faith in jesus christ like herself”#and i was like maam i was raised catholic i can tell you i have read the bible.#and she IGNORED ALL CUES on PURPOSE (??) and kept telling me about how we were made just and holy by jesus dying for us#like where are we??? what's going on????#she usually is careful but fast because it's her job but like she forcefully kept me here with a needle in my arm & physically holding me#long after the blood sampler had been drawn (highly unusual!!!!) to force me to stay here and attend her jesus saves! lecture#at some point i feared she wouldnt let me go at all until i said i would go back to church lol#what is this????????#also i am pretty sure the receptionists were gossiping nastily about me in the waiting room. i may be paranoid#but they were shooting nasty glances in my direction (i was the only patient in the waiting room) and they were whispering between#themselves the whole time and one of them (who'd already been nasty to me re: trans stuff but not outwardly) glared at me#i think i caught something that sounded like “no it *is* weird and were it up to me...” while they looked at me#like once again i may be paranoid and let my inner bullied student speak but.... the combination was. weird#ive never had a problem here before! you'll tell me this is not an actual problem like nobody beat me up or anything and i'll agree ofc#but. still

#tbf this one is less character specific and a lot more baked into just like. the prose style#soooo much specific time cues yk#and ofc the clocktower in just and the gun clock in last laugh#but specific to aj theres a lot of like. side details. that put him constantly at the End of things#and idk how much of that would have been intentional#but like hes already 10 yrs into an athletic career when we meet him#he lives in the albany at a time when its future was SUPER uncertain like they talked abt selling it several times in the 1890s#it barely survived the century and its reputation was probably the worst it had ever been#He Himself barely survives the century... and only gets a few months into 1900. he does Not outlive victoria#hes an aesthete but very much at the end of that movement (esp after 95) and his specific favourite niche is WELL before their time#etc etc theres more of this its always rotating up here but as i say. brain dead today#a#crime and cricket#edit ohhhh my gosh i forgot abt the slow bowling#i was trying to remember ik there was a cricket thing abt the 90s for him#im wayyyy less well read on the sports stuff buT#the 90s was like. the transition era to primarily fast bowlers#so even if he hAD like never got caught on the uhlan etc#his career would have looked very different before too long
