Been kinda in a Mood for some Tchaikovsky Mood (most likely for some Swan Lake) even after re-watching some Childhood Adaptations of the Ballet like Swan Princess or even the Famous Barbie version (even if I did finally see Toei's version from Last Year and even Black Swan), this kinda inspired Me to do my own personal interpretations of The Two Mirror Swans (Odette and Odile).

I might even do their own Swan forms one day perhaps if I'm gonna do the Whole Swan Lake Character interpretations (like Siegfried or Rothbart).

Historically Accurate Barbie Swan Lake Part 1 Odile

Setting: 1870s Russia

Odile has an aristocratic background being the first cousin once removed of the fairy queen and her and her father are so proficient in magic they can supposedly conjure wealth as needed

Odile wears two main outfits, one is an everyday outfit the other her ballgown

Credit to the Barbie artist Odile wears earrings almost identical to a pair that are really from 1870’s Russia

Odile literally cannot catch a break right now.

She tried confessing to Steven Grant but he was already in a relationship with someone else.

She tried asking out Spamton G Spamton but he rejected her.

And now she tried to ask me out but then someone else showed up and I chose them instead of her.

odile was made to hunt odette, and no other reason. the magick that created her dictated that so long as odette still lived, so must she.

now, it's time for both of them to rest.

Tiana Should Have Been Odette

In which I continue to be bitter as hell that Disney's 2D animation and its Classic Princess machine closed out on The Princess and the Frog rather than shooting for a cinematic last hurrah in the vein of Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast to give us a Louisiana rendition of Swan Lake with a barely tweaked Tiana design and more cool character possibilities.

Case in point, another doll character design you dropped the ball on, Mickey:

Could have given Facilier (Rothbart) a hot goth flapper daughter. But no.

AND MORE DOLLS CHARACTERS:

Cygnets! You would have had a whole flock of cygnets!

Jazz and classical score fusions!

Full Fantasia majesty going on in the style and sound and story!

But no!

I feel in my bones that the Rodent will get around to Swan Lake eventually. But damn it, I would have loved Disney's old 2D crew making something special before they closed the doors, especially with the backdrop of the bayou and its sundry swans. Hand-painted scenery, the 1920s music and dance scene spliced into the ballet, a built-in reason to have more prominent girls in the cast with showy transformations back and forth between the winged silhouettes, the intrigue of the false beloved role swapping from Naveen (Siegfried) to Tiana (Odette) and Odile, a climax of birds in flight and magic fights by the water...

Sigh.

Just realized I uploaded this on my other socials but not on here. A couple years ago, I was really interested in re-imagining Swan Lake as a comic, but never got far with it and put it to the side. The story found its way back to me, and I'd love to have another go at it and work it into a graphic novel after I publish my debut graphic novel trilogy KLOUD 9 (coming in 2025!)

These are some rough character designs I was playing around with for my take on the Swan Lake characters. I wanted my Odette to be a magical Filipina princess, as my dream of helping work on the first Filipina Disney princess movie seems too far off at this point in my career. So I don't really want to wait, and I'm just making my own haha!
