When they were Yaushikep, they would terrorize the village of Rebunge, however fervent prayer was answered by the sea god Repun Kamuy, who dragged Yaushikep into the sea, transforming the red spider into an octopus. Now, as Atkor Kamuy, they act as the ambivalent god of Uchiura Bay, equal parts protective and merciless, capable of swallowing passing ships and whales with ease.

When Atkor Kamuy appears above the waves, both the sky and the water are coloured red to reflect the scale of the deity's massive manifestation.

Normally i save this for my crochet sideblog but this caused physical pain so im subjecting you all to see this

Yes i have a queen size bed

Yes this takes up half of it

Yes i timed it.... It took just over 15 hours

Yes my back, shoulders, and arms hurt way too much

Anyways yeah i used about 4 whole skeins of bernat blanket yarn, a whole 5 pounds box of polyfil, and i hand painted the eyes

It was for mermay but since I'm reposting everything I might as well bunch post all of those.

Did you know ? Octopi are my favorite marine animals alongside sharks and jellyfishes! Every time I participate in mermay I draw at least one octomer.

Did you know ? There are actually three plurals of octopus : octopi, octopodes, and the most common octopuses. Technically all three are grammatically correct.

Did you know ? Some octopi living in the deep are bioluminescent! Azul's eyes already seem to be glowing the one time we see his merform. What if his actual merform was more colorful/luminescent but at the time he was just covered in blot so we couldn't see it ?

Did you know ? The smallest octopi measure about one centimeter while the biggest can measure up to ten meters. Murray eels however measure between fifteen centimeters and four meters.

I headcanon that underwater, Azul is muuuuch bigger than the tweels. But on land, since Azul is of average size for his species, he is also average size as a human. The tweels on the other hand are big for murray eels, so they are also big on land.

(Did you know ? I know far too much random trivia about octopi you'd think I have AuDHD and an unchecked internet connection- wait.)

Can I gush about a detail that's in SM:OG? I know its really obvious, but I just want to point it out none-the-less, it's so good.

It's the fact Mary Alice's face is obscured in Otto's memories due to his overwhelming guilt over what happened before the accident, and how he wasn't able to save her in time when she was dying years later.

It's only when Otto finally takes Otoha's advice, treasuring his memory of Mary instead of clinging on to that guilt...

...we get to see her face.
