I loved Dakavendish when i was younger so i started writing this but i ran out of steam to finish it. I'm sure someone will enjoy this.

Now that he was older, it wasn't often that Milo Murphy got to pay a visit to his two favorite time travelers.

Life had been rather hectic for all three of them, after all. It had been about 6 years since Dakota and Cavendish had saved Milo from the Octilians. Milo was now in his freshman year of community college, and a lot of his time was spent on pursuing his chef certification. He often had little time for his friends now. Meanwhile, Dakota and Cavendish had been busy themselves too. Dakota and Cavendish were still time travelers, and were stuck in the same position. Though, neither seemed to really mind it as much as they used to. Compared to their coworkers, the pair had more flexible hours than their busier counterparts in other departments, which allowed them more time to care for…

"Opal? You named her Opal?"

Milo looked at the baby in Cavendish's arms with wonder and bewilderment. Opal, the baby in question, was playing with a chew toy that was strung around Cavendish's neck, slobbering all over the soft blue plastic. Dakota, who was standing nearby, picking up Opal's toys, gave an affirmative answer to Milo's question.

"Yep! Why don't you tell the kid about where you got the name, Cavendish?"

Cavendish smiled, and adjusted the baby in his arms.

"It was my grandmother's name." Cavendish replied. "We decided to name her after each of our grandmothers, in memory of them."

Milo looked at Cavendish with curiousity.

"What's her middle name?" Milo asked.

"Juanita." Cavendish replied. "Her full name is Opal Juanita Cavendish-Dakota."

Milo appeared gobstopped at the little girl's full name.

"Wow, that's a mouthful." He joked. "Does she have a nickname?"

Cavendish chuckled, before shaking his head.

"No. She barely responds to Opal. We wouldn't want to confuse her, now would we?"

At the mention of her name, Opal looked up at Cavendish. Her big brown eyes looked at him with confusion.

"Pa." She babbled. She thumped a hand against his chest. "Pa!"

Today’s countdown topic: My three favourite ships!

3. Octavia/Ilian (Octilian, ButterflyAssassin)

As I’ve mentioned before, this wasn’t love, it wasn’t moving on. They were both in pain and grieving and damaged broken people, but there can be healing in two people like that coming together. They gave each other something to live for, if even for a short period of time, at the end of the world when everyone else was already losing their shit. Ilian saved Octavia’s life, and with that, she was then able to save humanity. Got to give that relationship the respect it deserves. 2. Octavia/Lincoln (Linctavia)

I know, many Octavia stans might be sad that I put Linctavia second. They were beautiful and I loved them, but everyone’s grieved long enough. Lincoln was such a pure soul who loved Octavia and his people - all people - with his whole heart, and he wouldn’t want Octavia to wallow in grief for the rest of her life, or think that he was it when it came to love and relationships. Do you know how sad that would be, for a 17-year old girl to lose her lover and think “well that’s it for me I guess”? So sad. He wouldn’t want that for her. He would want her to love again. Which brings us to... 1. Octavia/Niylah (Niytavia)

Yeah, I know they’re not canon-confirmed. Which is criminal, because the setup has been there since season 4 and saving each other’s lives. Followed by the book-flirting in season 5. Followed by all of their shared screentime in season 6. Niylah’s clearly in love, why else would she wake Octavia against all orders? She cares about Octavia as a person, she’s the only one on board the Eligius IV to see through Octavia’s anger to the broken and suicidal girl inside. Octavia hasn’t really been in a mental place to return Niylah’s affections since their 5x02 flirting, but the picture above shows that she still allows Niylah an emotional and physical intimacy that she doesn’t grant to anyone else. Niylah gets her to back down from a fight and she actually does. When have we ever seen Octavia back down from a fight she wants? Anyway, now that Octavia’s had time (perhaps even years?) and distance to be able to start healing, she’s emotionally in a place to pursue relationships again. Since all signs say that Niylah’s joining Adventure Squad this season, I hope they’ll be able to rekindle their flame and pursue a peaceful future together when they’re reunited.

Lincoln was Octavia’s first love and the most important. She can’t forget him and all the times he helped/saved her. He “taught” her how to be a grounder. She is lost without him, and his death haunts her. Basically, one of the most important couples in the show. (Linctavia)

Watching the 4x10 promo again and Ilian is looking like the warrior for Trishanakru. 

Which means Octavia and Ilian are going to have to fight each other.

And if Ilian pulls a Peeta Mellark and tries to protect Octavia I swear I will lose my shit.

Octavia and Ilian... well, as I’ve mentioned before, Ilian is the reason I started watching the show in the first place. It was early 2018, I was looking for a new show to watch since Shadowhunters was on hiatus, and they’d just announced that Chai Hansen would be appearing in the next season as Jordan Kyle. So as any woman who appreciates long-haired men will do, I went looking to see what else Chai had appeared in, and stumbled across The 100.

I watched some of his scenes on YouTube, which were of course with Octavia. He was suitably pretty, she intrigued me. Then I watched her Final Conclave speech, and I was sold. I wanted to know everything about this woman.

So I started from the beginning, and yes, I loved her. And when I came to season 4, I understood the context of everything that happened with them there. It was beautiful, it was short, it was tragic, but it was always going to be. They were never going to have a happy ending, even if there hadn’t been the treat of Praimfaya looming over their heads.

They were both broken damaged people, alone in the world, looking for a light in the darkness. They found that with each other, however briefly. Ilian appeared to have reached some sort of emotional catharsis with the burning of the Ark and his survival of his attempted execution, but Octavia wasn’t there yet. He caught her and stopped her from spiraling further in a moment she desperately needed it, but she still had a lot of anger and rage that she wasn’t going to be able to address as a sheep farmer. Entering the Conclave, however, did give her an appropriate mechanism by which to address it. Thus she began a slower kind of healing with her victory in the Conclave, but then that was cut short when chaos erupted in the bunker, leaving her to spiral again, this time with no one to catch her until Diyoza finally did in season 6.

A song called “Beautiful Disaster” by Lost Autumn came up in my Spotify Discover Weekly feed a number of months ago, and I immediately thought of Octavia and Ilian:

The 100 consistently pisses me off because of the constant miscommunication. Like I get it's the end of the world and the group is constantly separated, but every damn time they betray each other in one way or another. It's extremely predictable and usually goes against the character development that has been built up over the seasons. It's tiring and frustrating for the viewers and quite frankly, makes me unenthusiastic about the show.
