Thank you, 2023 for allowing me to get a glimpse of the world. A portion of it at least.
From my first snow in Istanbul; my first time at the Manila Ocean Park; frequently eating my now favorite oyster omelette in Penang; quick family trips to Batangas, and Bataan; drinking coffee in Ethiopia; and seeing a Rhinoceros in Nairobi.
It was a good year. Now, on to the next adventure!

Hotel H2O: How It Feels Like Staying in an Aqua Room?
After a long break, I decided to treat myself to a quick staycation in Manila, and what better place to stay than Hotel H2O? If you're looking for a unique hotel experience, this spot is worth checking out! I'm excited to share all about my stay, from booking the room to the magical aquatic vibes.
Hotel H2O is not your ordinary hotel—it's a marine-themed escape located within the Manila Ocean Park complex. With rooms designed to immerse you in the beauty of marine life, the hotel offers a unique twist to a traditional staycation.
Hotel H2O stands out for its underwater-themed rooms that give you a glimpse of marine life without even leaving your bed!
Fun fact: The hotel’s proximity to the ocean park makes it a great family-friendly destination, combining entertainment with a relaxing stay.
Booking the Aqua Room
I opted for the Aqua Room, one of the hotel's signature rooms, and I booked it via Agoda for around 5K pesos—quite affordable for such a unique experience.
This room is like an underwater haven with a stunning aquarium wall filled with vibrant marine creatures.
The aquarium inside the room is truly mesmerizing. I spent hours just watching various fish swim by. Some of the species I spotted included angelfish, 3-spot domino damselfish, powder brown tang, clownfish, and many more.
It felt like I had my very own private ocean view!
Hotel H2O and Manila Ocean Park: A Perfect Duo
One of the best things about Hotel H2O is its convenient location. It's part of the same complex as Manila Ocean Park, which means you can easily combine your staycation with a day full of aquatic adventures.
The Manila Ocean Park offers fun for the whole family, with attractions like the Oceanarium, fish spa, and the Jellies exhibit. For those who book packages with the hotel, it's just a short walk to these exciting activities.
Dining at Hotel H2O: Makan Makan
When it came to food, I planned to try out the breakfast buffet at their in-house restaurant, Makan Makan Asian Food Village, but I ended up skipping it. The food options were a bit limited that day (for a Php 450 Breakfast Buffet), and since we had plans to visit Intramuros, I decided to grab something outside.
Most of the restaurants were closed in the evening so what better way is order food using food delivery app like Grab & Food Panda
Makan Makan is conveniently located near the hotel’s arcade and toy shop, making it a great stop if you're with kids or if you want to pick up some cool souvenirs from Manila Ocean Park.
A Great Hotel for Family Staycations
I can easily see how Hotel H2O would be a hit for families. The Aqua Room itself is an unforgettable experience for kids (and adults, too!), and with the Manila Ocean Park just next door, there's plenty of entertainment.
Whether you're looking for a quiet getaway or a fun-filled family trip, this hotel covers all bases.
In summary, my stay at Hotel H2O was a refreshing break from the usual city vibe.
From the serene aquarium views in the Aqua Room to the proximity to Manila’s iconic attractions like Intramuros and Ocean Park, this is a perfect staycation spot, especially for those looking to unwind with a bit of adventure on the side. I highly recommend it for families, couples, and even solo travelers who want something a little out of the ordinary.
Stay tuned for more hotel reviews and travel experiences! See you on my next staycation!

Boracay Island is well-known for its immaculate beaches and exciting nightlife. But beyond the popular tourist destinations is a side of Boracay that is just waiting to be explored; it's a rich tapestry of adventure, culture, and undiscovered jewels. White Beach, on the west coast, is surrounded by palm trees, bars, and restaurants. Bulabog Beach on the east coast is a popular water sports destination due to strong winds. Nearby, the observation deck on Mount Luho provides panoramic views of the island. Offshore, coral reefs, and shipwrecks support a rich range of marine life. The island is only composed of three barangays namely Balabag, Manoc-Manoc, and Yapak. Come along with me as we set off on an unforgettable voyage to discover Boracay Island's true essence, away from the tourists and cliches. How was our experience? Is it really that overrated?
Last summer of the year 2022, our family decided to fly and visit Boracay Island located Western Visayas region of the Philippines. After less than one hour up above the sky, we finally stepped afoot at Caticlan Airport. We then rode a tricycle for Php50 per head going to the Jetty Port. My dad then paid for everything at the counter— from environmental fees to transportation fees. After that, we found our seats on the ferry boat, and within a few minutes of waiting we set sail to the Island which took us less than 20 minutes. When I stepped off the boat, I was welcomed not by bustling crowds, but by the calm rustle of palm trees and the salty breeze of the sea. We then rode an E-trike going to our accommodation. There are several hotels (both high-end and low-cost) in Boracay; it all depends on your budget, but you can absolutely organize your trip to fit inside it. We only stayed for two days and three nights, which was quite brief, since my Dad had business to work on back in Manila. After we checked into our rooms and unpacked our belongings, we had a late lunch at one of the restaurants at Station 1. After dining, we went for a walk around the area and took some photos. Since we were only staying for a brief moment, we planned how we could savor each day and make memories. For our first day, we walk and walk and walk to explore the shoreline of the island. The vista was truly soothing and breath-taking. After our stroll, we return to our hotel to recover. In the evening, we opted to eat dinner at Gerry's Grill, located in Station 1. After dinner, we relaxed at the beach and played on the sand. We also decided to take a sip at the infamous bar restaurant Epic— which was a blast! After that, we decided to sleep and rest because tomorrow would be a long day. On day two, we decided to go island hopping and participate in some water sports. We decided to book a tour guide and as early as 8:00 AM we started island hopping. We were able to visit all the beaches on the Island! Each beach on the island has its distinct appeal and attraction, from the busy shoreline of White Beach to the quiet coves and immaculate sands of Puka Shell Beach. As you moved from one beach to the next, you were rewarded with stunning views of turquoise oceans, craggy cliffs, and swaying palm trees. Each stop along the trip provided us with the option to participate in a range of water sports and activities. There were plenty of amazing adventures to be had, whether snorkeling among colorful coral reefs, kayaking around quiet lagoons, or paddle boarding in the mild surf. Throughout the day, our tour guide provided intriguing insights about the island's history, culture, and natural beauty, complementing our trip with local knowledge and stories. Leaving the tourist-packed White Beach, we arrive at Puka Shell Beach, a peaceful length of golden sand noted for its profusion of natural treasures. With each step, I collected tiny puka shells, admiring the island's raw beauty. But the island that really had me was the Magic Island. This is because, I was able to do

With its crystal-clear waters, powdery white beaches, and luxuriant greenery, this tropical paradise offers an unparalleled experience of relaxation and adventure.
Early Inhabitants and Buddhist Influence The first known inhabitants of Maldives were the Dravidian-speaking people who arrived around 2000 BCE. The island chain was later influenced by Buddhism, which was introduced in the 1st century CE and remained the dominant religion until the 12th century. This period saw the construction of numerous temples, shrines, and monasteries, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Islamic Conquest and Portuguese Colonization In the 12th century, Maldives embraced Islam, and the country became a sultanate. The Portuguese colonized the islands in the 16th century, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the form of architecture, language, and cuisine.
Demographics and Lifestyle of the population of Maldives is predominantly Muslim, with a diverse mix of ethnicities. The official language is Dhivehi, but many locals speak English, making communication easy for visitors. The laid-back lifestyle of the Maldivians is reflected in their warm hospitality and love for fishing, sailing, and other water sports.

Local dishes like mas huni (tuna, coconut, and onion flatbread), and bambukeylu (coconut, tuna, and onion curry) are must-try delicacies. Festivals like Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are celebrated with great enthusiasm, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the island nation.
Manila to Maldives: Transportation Options The fastest and most convenient way to reach Maldives from Manila is by flying. Several airlines offer direct flights from Manila to Malé International Airport (MLE), the capital city of Maldives. The flight duration is approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. Transportation within Maldives Once in Maldives, visitors can explore the islands via speedboats, seaplanes, or domestic flights. Speedboats are the most popular mode of transportation for inter-island travel, offering a thrilling experience and breathtaking views. Hundred Adventures
"Gusto mo bang sumama sa mga pinsan mo sa Pangasinan?” my mom asked me.
Have you heard that the national park was created by Presidential Proclamation No. 667) and signed by President Manuel L. Quezon on January 18, 1940, for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the Philippines and known as the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP). The Pangasinan city of Alaminos is home to the Hundred Islands National Park. These little Islands, sometimes referred to as "Kapulo-puloan" or "Taytay-Bakes," are among the most beautiful natural geological formations in the Philippines. The islands have a total land size of 1,844 hectares, or 18.44 square kilometers, and are scattered around the Lingayen Gulf. Despite having 124 islands, one is submerged during high tide. They resemble enormous umbrellas or mushrooms. This island is thought to be roughly two million years old. Only three of the islands—Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island—have been developed as tourist destinations. As of now, none of the other islands have names.
When we arrived at mama Lai's house, we just rested for a while and ate lunch. After we ate lunch, my cousins hurriedly changed into swimming clothes. While I was still enjoying the picturesque view and the breeze while I was on the porch. My appreciation of the view was interrupted when my aunt entered the room and told me to hurry and get dressed.
"Jazmine, bilisan mo magpalit ha aalis na tayo after 5 minutes", my Aunt said.
"Sige tita, magbibihis na ako" I said.
"Tsaka nga pala tita, saang isla tayo pupunta ngayon?" I asked her before I entered the bathroom.
When we all finished changing into our swimming clothes, we left the house and boarded the boat that was assigned to us. The view we see is marvelous, it's just a bit scary because the water is dark blue in the middle of the sea. It's like in the movies where the sharks are going to eat the boat we're on. Kidding aside, the island we passed by before we got to crocodile island was spectacular. The shape is amazing. It really shaped like a crocodile . When we got off the boat, we went to smam in the sea. Swim here swim there. We had a very happy experience at crocodile island. In the afternoon, we went home to Mama Lai's house and we all went to sleep, tired from the activities we did in our swimming. When night fell, we ate dinner together and got ready to travel home to Manila.
The Hundred Islands, a paradise in the Philippines, is a dazzling gem that shines in the midst of the vast ocean. Its emerald waters glisten like a sapphire under the sun, while the lush greenery that surrounds the islets creates a stunning contrast against the blue horizon. The islands are like a necklace of pearls, each one unique and magnificent in its own way. As you sail through the calm waters, you'll be mesmerized by the playful dance of the waves and the gentle sway of the boats. The Hundred Islands is a true masterpiece of nature, a symphony of colors and textures that will leave you in awe. In Alaminos, Pangasinan, the Hundred Islands National Park offers a variety of water sports, including swimming, snorkeling, helmet diving, kayaking, banana boat rides, ziplining, and cliff jumping. Additional adventures include wall climbing, rappelling, camping, caving, bird watching, and spelunking.
