I'm kinda retreading old ground here re. australian anti americanism but basically just as chauvinism (e.g "we should control our own destiny" to be imperialists), but it's always interesting to think about what would happen with pine gap if the US left.
because realistically it's not going to stop being used for surveillance and military targeting, it's just going to be ran entirely by Australians. like military bases aren't suddenly fine when it's an exclusively Australian military occupation of stolen land, but talking about the Australian military as occupiers here makes people really angry.
#my post#hopefully this makes sense#like the military of a colonial state is a military occupation of the colonised#that should be really blatantly obvious

Samus Aran from Super Metroid
And now, back to our regularly scheduled Samus Aran artwork. This time, it's Samus in her Zero Suit design from Super sitting at the pool with some adopted metroids.
#metroid#super metroid#Samus Aran#Zero Suit Samus#wanted to draw another landscape Samus spread#and yeah I wanted to try drawing thighs the same way as someone else's art I saw#but hey#if there was any character out there that'd make sense to have big thighs it's Samus#her occupation requires a lot of running and jumping#if she flexed them they would be solid like steel

Before anyone else comments about Brant's name sounding ridiculous, I just want to place a reminder that a brant is a kind of goose, which -- to me personally, at least -- sounds like a very appropriate name for a flamboyant theatre kid pirate captain. 🤣
#wuthering waves#brant#wuwa brant#wuwa#i subconsciously headcanon that he picked the name himself which to me would make even MORE sense#of course someone of his occupation and personality would name themselves after a seagoing bird

MK 9 (2011)'s story mode & MK 1 (2023)'s story mode
#mortal kombat#bi han#sub zero#lin kuei#kuai liang#smoke#tomas vrbada#cyrax#sektor#you don't have an idea how this makes me happy to see bi han put in the middle (leader) position in two different timelines#especially considering his bad social skills and/or lack of patience for people in general XD#the most surprising things about those pictures is that the right place of bi han is taken be person who seems he less likely choice?#i mean kuai liang is his blood-related brother and second in line to the title of grandmaster#but it is smoke who is almost all the time occuping bi han's right side#bi han and sektor are implied to be on good terms in alternative and new timeline yet it is cyrax on sub zero's righ side#what makes sense as he is more active in the cyrax-sektor duo#also yellow color should be forbidden in lin kuei as everyone who has this color (Cyrax & Scorpion Kuai Liang) somehow betrayes the clan#just saying

Been thinking about what Apple does post-canon (not just post khr canon but post her story canon as well) as she's not affiliated with any specific mafia famiglia and, for reasons I can't mention because of spoilers, she can't work her previous job of making forgeries (which I don't even think I've gone into detail about here yet lol). So for a while I just said she made investments and stuff like that but it was so vague...
But! I have finally found something that suits her well and makes sense for her story! She owns a Art Gallery! A gallery where she displays her private collection of famous paintings, statues, and other works of art some real some fake but it's up to you to figure out which is which ;). And of course they have displays and exhibits from local artists as well and "sometimes" she launders money and helps others launder money.
And of course she hosts plenty of different charity events and also tries her best to raise awareness on the importance preserving the arts it's totally not just a tax write off I promise ❤️
#oh and it goes without saying she participates pretty actively in the black market art world#this will make a lot more sense as well once I reveal more about her#and her occupation pre- khr canon lol#oc: apple#her gallery is most likely located somewhere in Rome probably

#Seeing the dune part 2 american centric red carpet and as a devoted aficionado of the books and yk a moroccan person here are my 2 cents#Dune was one of the few Western works inspired by MENA culture that that felt genuine and respectful#But ofc despite the profound symbiosis with Middle Eastern and North African culture evident within the pages of the novels#the movie adaptation lack of substantive representation from these communities both in on-screen portrayals and within production roles was#very much disappointing in part 1 and i doubt there are any change now#While drawing inspiration from the Amazigh peoples of Algeria and Morocco#the film barely skims the surface of its MENA influences leaving substantial potential untapped#Herbert openly acknowledged the profound impact of Islam and MENA culture on his noveIs#from the metaphorical representation of Spice as oil#to the allegorical parallels drawn between the occupation of Arrakis and real-world MENA geopolitics#By marginalizing Arabs from the narrative fabric of Dune the essence of the story is being undermined particularly its anti-colonial core#the irony of this is kiIIing me because this was a direct resuIt of us impérialism on the middIe east#But the reality is that Dune is an American production tailored for an American audience so it makes sense for it to be what it is now#a big production running from its original essence#What adds to my disappointment is the fact that I liked Villeneuve's adaptation of Incendies and I had what you call foolish hope hfhg#Dune feIt Iike a squandered opportunity to authentically depict the cultural milieu that inspired it#Given the narrative's inherent anti-colonial themes#the omission of Arab and North African voices dilute its message if any of it is even left#without representation from Arabs and Amazigh people the cultural essence becomes another appropriated resource watered down to an aestheti#rather than serving as a critique of the destructive actions of colonialists seeking power and dominance#the narrative becomes susceptible to distortion and co-option by the very entities it was intended to condemn and hold accountable

who doesn't enjoy teaching their pet a new trick?
#torchwood#ianto jones#toshiko sato#owen harper#gwen cooper#myfanwy#pterodactyl#or pteranodon since i've seen her called both#torchwood works hard to find all new exciting ways to break occupational safety standards#i refuse to believe no one's ever been bored enough in the hub to give this a go#they've got just enough brains and know-how to concoct this plan#and few enough brains and common sense to actually attempt it#my art

according to canon at least lol
#vee queued to fill the void#there’s potential for kuukou to struggle with apologising#but he wasted no time apologising to ichiro for the actions of his crew at the time so i don’t think apologising is a major hangup#and even in auxiliary media kuukou is quick to apologise like he was very sorry he ripped one of hitoya’s vintage shirts#it’s that straightforward sense of justice i think lol#jyushi is a good boy lol if he’s in the wrong he’ll apologise maybe even tearfully lol#hitoya i think is situational lol#like if he fcks up in an occupational sense he’s quick to apologise (eg he apologised for bad workplace etiquette in a radio lol)#but apologising for emotional reasons i think is where he’d struggle lol#iirc the manga changed this but in harmonious cooperation hitoya in a fit of frustration wound up hurting jyushi#jyushi never gave him a chance to really process that to apologise but he never did lol#he made up for it in other ways in that track which what matters most i think so hitoya CAN apologise#he’s just of the actions over words mentality on that i think 🤔

idc if this stupid tubi ass show has no Fandom on here, these two should've made out passionately in multiple scenes. idc
#slick: since when that ever stop you * gazes down at lamar with a tender fondness both in tone and face*#slick/pm basically tells lamar hes hard 24/7. idc if it's a metaphorical sense. that was fucking weird#pm and lamar should kiss. my onion#pm the only one that can make that crazy rabid hamster running on a wheel that's curving its lil hamster spine rlly bad#in lamar's head for place of a brain#actually pause for like and twitch its little hamster knoes#NOSE* im infected by their stupidity#before cautiously going back to a slow walk on its wheel that transfers to swift galloping#this is considered old man yaoi bcs the life expectancy in their 'occupation' is not high so let me have this

maybe it's to maintain a sense of tension & turmoil that would eventually reach an explosive peak, a sense of tug-of-war, a back-and-forth to hammer home the ideals they want to deliver and for the viewers to chew on, but although these arguments regarding hiroshi & his stance as a man torn between his loyalty for his country & the loyalty for his Filipino friends and lover is of course important, how they write these scenes & the points they present from this week alone is getting too repetitive...? literally the argument scenes from last night & tonight between adelina & hiroshi is basically the same; the ideas were the same, the dynamics were the same: the aggressive, radical adelina, bristling rage and fear over the injustices she's seen thus far, and the cautious, inspiriting hiroshi, all hopefulness and reassurance one moment as a lover, defensiveness and sternness as a japanese soldier in another. this debate will be ever-present ofc, it is one of the series' biggest conflicts, but it is unfortunately so easy to tell when it is a.) being pulled up as a main topic to move the plot along / be a necessary conflict for character development/introspection / be the conflict to deliver the morals & messages the writers want to send to their viewers, or b.) when it is being pulled up only for the drama and filler to pass the time. like watching the characters sit down to argue for 10 minutes, do other things for the plot for 2 minutes, then sit down again to argue for the next 20 minutes. lol.
#lots of things i wish they would soon improve but this 1 bothered me tonight..stopped watching halfway thru#these scenes would be like excellent breaks for when we need to take a breather to digest what's been going on#but at the slow pace they've set it it's just...nothing's been going on since like...4 days ago#except for eduardo's plot#it's just arguments..everywhere....all the time....over the same repetitive things#no progress nothing new to chew on despite there being drastic changes to their situation...? same vibes from the time they weren't occupie#yet lol. same dynamics mostly#only new points of debate is regarding hiroshi & his country vs friends conflict#& carmela being desperate to go back to comfort & luxury vs her family standing as firm as they could against the occupation#ahhh i am sooo not eloquent enough to express my full thoughts but like!!! fellow viewers if y'all r here u understand me right lmfoskadhsg#finding it hard to criticize bc i'm trying to make sense of where they r coming from#a.) seeing as unlike mcai this is a complete original story it's hard to see what direction they'd like to take it to#b.) fil shows really find it hard to break away from their normal formulas of family dramas & bastard children & love triangles :'))))#god the opportunity to tell a refreshing diff story but this is like gma show 67627627th but set in the japanese era....then mixed with 50%#of the mcai show feel#the editing the visuals the acting = good. 60% of the story line = can be compared to the hundreds of gma shows we've seen be4#anywy going off on a tangent...#c.) i can understand the slow pacing as them trying to establish the settings & the feel of that era so that the more intense tragedies-#later on would hit harder#but again. few scenes feel like they're dragging on for too long. some scenes & themes r too repetitive#need to see something differenttt something fresh something developing. something moving & feeling & connecting w/the audience#need to see more of the Philippines & the Filipino people in the 40s!! not the same afternoon prime drama shot in intramuros#need to see their messages staring into our souls instead of just being words uttered in tears#all this to say....flop era this week tbh sorry#EXCEPT FOR MAX COLLINS & HER LIKE. 3 MINS SCREEN TIME. MAX COLLINS I LOVE U QUEEN#rambles#pulang araw#putting this in the main tag i KNOW some ppl out there would feel the same & can explain this better lol i swear????

had an odd dream that i was reading a comic book. sketched a couple of the pages i could remember.
#i might adapt this into an actual story because i am SO SO SO mad that it isn't a thing i can go back to reading#oc#im definitely keeping the concept of save-bot i fucking love save-bot he's just doing his best. i love a robot who wants to help people#im not equipped to be writing about underground rebellions with any sense of real tact though#besides its in a superhero universe/story so you know it would just be so sucks lol#sketch#god the colors were so interesting. the teal parts were all very precisely crosshatched and the fire was this gorgeous brush pen looking#colored inks that just seemed like they were MOVING#and i mean some of that was because i was dreaming but god even in my halfhearted copy you can see some of the movement#it was a bad scene but a really really REALLY fun dream. i love when a book can *get* to me so i was really enjoying it#put it aside so i could take a break and woke up. instant fury at the universe for not having it be a real book instead#ill reblog with details if anyone's curious. i can explain this scene but i dont feel like it#the green people are in a secret basement though. hiding from the government. blue jacket guy is a speedster robot named save-bot who does#rescue stuff with every fire department so fire suppression technology is not very good because save-bot "can just save you''#however they're badly over their legal occupancy and the secret basement has One (1) exit so everyone is like really fucked here.#includinig save-bot who is going to do his job until he dies because he is an ai without any sense of self preservation and he cares#which i didn't even CATCH until i woke up and started tryin to frantically note everything down#and then i was like wait. the glitter on that last page before i realized i needed a glass of water to keep reading... what WAS that...#(it was tears suspended in midair because save-bot goes so fast and also knows he's so fucked LOL)#seriously i'm so mad someone else didn't make this.

What if Arthur Kirkland IS the legendary King Arthur, and he's just that old of a bastard.
#hetalia#aph england#arthur kirkland#it would make sense in this universe for the magical sword wielding warrior king to be the personification of the land he was defending#this would also mean he saw the fall of rome and maybe experienced roman occupation before that#probably as a child though cause i still headcanon that he had a mother aka Britannia

Thinking about the story given for Nagant's arrest, that she "killed another hero in an argument" vs what actually happened
Because, in an alternate view, she did kill a "hero"
A man who took her in and made her dreams a reality. A man who took down people who would threaten the peoples way of life and safety. A man who thought it necessary to do the bad things for the "right" reasons. A man who's job was to protect the people in the long run, and she killed him
She killed a "hero" in an argument
As if he wasn't going to do the same to her, in the moment
#funny how easily words can be twisted if you phrase it just so#if its not clear i am using 'hero' not as an occupation but in the general sense here#tho the truth is that chairman was not a hero#he was doing what he deemed as necessary#but he is not a hero in the general sense or occupation sense#you know what i'm trying to say hopefully#bnha#hero commission#lady nagant#mettys posts#metty posts#rambling rambling always rambling
