When it comes to tumblr posts that rewire your brain, I really do appreciate "you could if you weren't a fucking coward".

It's far too easy to rule off entire options in life by saying that you can't do something. Like that's too absolute, you're not just closing a door on it but laying brick over the door like the door was never there in the first place. It's dangerous to think "I can't", you'll believe it.

It's much more useful to be able to look at something and think: "I could do that, but I don't want to deal with the consequences of doing that." It's a bad option, but it is an option. You're actively choosing to do something else than that one.

Dehumanizing bigots is bad, not because I want to be nice to them, but because they are human beings and they serve as a reminder that anyone is capable of evil ideation and action. Violent bigots are not fundamentally different beings from you. They are human beings, who have developed a reactionary and destructive belief system due to their circumstances combined with their biases. In a different timeline, that could've been you. Anyone can be radicalized. Nobody is immune to propaganda, not even the person reading this.

A life size painting of Drosophila melanogaster.

The whole thing is approximately 2.5mm in length, I painted it under microscope with a single one of my eyelashes glued to a piece of dowel.

This one turned out the best of my attempts but I slipped and made a streak I had to repair. It's tricky when a single twitch of the brush can obliterate the entire painting in one go.

Jiahui has two tattoos (this I already mentioned)

One is wings on her back (ever since I made her shirt backless I've been obsessed with this idea)

And the other is a bunch of stars all across her right arm. They loosely resemble the constellations you can see on Sol 3, but a bit askew. A reminder to strive for the stars, and breach the limits of knowledge.

The constellations being askew is because it's as if they were being watched from another place. A reminder to herself that being stuck often just needs a change of perspective.

Also because she's that much of a nerd
