Beneath the Sands start and format update!!

Yay!!! Finally going to start this whole thing.

For those participating, reading, or wanting to join in, here’s how I plan to format the Quest!

Step I

I will make a post containing setting, plot starter, yada yada.

This may contain specific choices for each Oc to make (in the case of the party being split) or a poll for group decisions!

I’ll try and include as much information as possible so the plot flows relatively smoothly??? I’m going to treat this a bit like D&D tbh.

Step 2

Everyone should try and keep their initial response to 1 post per OC??? Unless we run out of words. Hate when that happens. Just tag your secondary reblog as part 2!

Your response may include dialogue, photos, music, whatever you’d like! The goal is to have fun and create responses that keep building off each other

Step 3

After everyone has responded, I’ll curate the next plot post based on the results!

There will probably be a solid week or so before this in which OCs can interact with dialogue??? The first initial post is just to get out what your OC is doing in response to scenario

All responses after are for group interaction!!!

Step 4

This process will be repeated until the end of the Quest!

When the OCs meet Caladin, he’ll also become an active part of the “plot posts”

Not sure how well this is going to work, so feel free to offer up ideas and critiques for this method. I might also post an outline of the plot points so we don’t derail too badly?

I'm not really very outspoken or good at sharing OCs for a new fandom, but the rinascita storyline got into my brain and gave me worms, so I kinda made a wuwa oc? I heard Tumblr is more nice for those and I am very anxious about this. I think this got too long so I'm putting in a read more so I don't clog any tags

This is Chiara or Cecilia, I haven't picked yet but my first list of potential names was way longer so between two is an improvement.

I can't draw, so I've resorted to using picrews, this one and the next one can be found here, while the first one can be found here, ignore the top right outfit, I don't think the dress I picked was made for that bit yet. She's a member of the fisalia family, unfortunately her closest relatives are the ones deep in the bad reputation of the fisalia family, Including the story stuff revealed at the end of the rinascita storyline so far, unfortunately for her she does not agree, fortunately for her carnevale went off without a hitch for the first time in a decade and that piece of freedom she experienced was everything to her, she went from reflecting what her family wanted her to stand for to reflecting her own desires and wishes

I couldn't find a picrew that let you make a mask that actually fit carnevale or my ideas for her mask, so just pretend she has one, she is a resonator and her forte is mirror based! I'm still learning the lingo I hope that's the right word? The butterfly wings are supposed to look like shattered glass, she can create copies of herself that act as reflections and shatter once they are damaged/touched or when she calls for them to break, the frequency she resonates with is mirrors basically, I have a lot of thoughts about how she attacks and her different looks (fisalia family wear and how she truly wants to dress) but I don't wanna ramble too much, I have a problem with that where I just end up going on and on with no end in sight, so uh I hope if you read this far that you like her concept? And thanks for reading so far, I appreciate the time

something i've noticed that has become really annoying in the past 10 years or so is this fad of what i've been calling, for lack of a better word, "structural whataboutism." it's that thing where, when faced with a concrete, resolvable problem in your community, your answer is to blame it on a vast, unsolvable issue of structural inequality and then throw up your hands. "there's trash all over the ground in this corner of the park" becomes "well, that's where MEN OF COLOR congregate after their 12-HOUR GRAVEYARD SHIFTS and i'm not going to support a CARCERAL SOLUTION to a CAPITALISTIC PROBLEM. WE NEED TO ELIMINATE POVERTY AND THE SUBJUGATION OF THE WORKING CLASS" and it's like okay but sis. someone still has to go pick up the trash. we don't need a carceral solution, we need more trash cans. you're not going to eliminate poverty and the subjugation of the working class and even if ya did, there would still be trash on the ground. how any of this passes for radicalism within their peer groups i simply don't understand. it's radical laziness more than anything else

anyways random things i think kieran would do/have in a modern(?) au:

- major weeaboo. easily hyperfixates on any anime he can get his hands on

- his diet consists of whatever fish he can get his hands on and instant noodles, preferably shrimp flavored.

- peanut allergy. keep an epi-pen with you at all times if you're with him!

- he likes watching youtube recipes and forcing the weird ones on raziel. i don't know how these two are still together
