WIP Whenever

I don’t think I’ve done one of these in a while, but I was tagged by @isayashai and I do have so many wips laying around.

I am terribly anxious about tagging people, so if anyone sees this and wants to do this, consider yourself tagged by me!

Here’s a WIP of a piece with Majexatli I’ve been writing. Set in act 1, so a while before the piece I just posted (which I really like ppl should give it a read and let me know their thoughts). Also I think this is the first thing from Majexatli’s POV I’ve shared.

Sitting down on the rock, they began unlacing their boots, watching Wyll out of the corner of their eye. Wyll took a few cautious steps forward.

“I just wanted to make sure you were alright, as soon as we got to camp, I turned around and you were already gone.”

“It’s been a long day,” Majexatli said, leaning back on their hands, now stripped down to their breeches and laced tunic, stained with blood and ash, “I’m just… not used to… this. People. Before the Nautiloid I would go weeks without dealing with people, now there’s countless every day.”

“You’ve been doing quite well, if you ask me,” Wyll smiled, stepping a bit closer, “Genuinely, you’ve gone out of your way time and time again just to help people with no promise of reward. Today was no exception.”

Majexatli nodded. They could still taste gnoll blood in their mouth, the adrenaline buzzing in their veins.

Did you see? Did you watch me snap the neck of that hyena? You were horrified by the sight of the gnoll transformation, by the mindless consuming hunger. Did you condemn that hunger and praise mine? Do you just tolerate it? Did you not watch me tear out throats with my teeth? Rip open flesh and stain my maw red? When I lifted that burning beam of that man in Waukeen’s Rest, did you know I still had raw flesh between my teeth? In my stomach?

“It hardly seemed a choice, it was the right thing to do,” Majexatli shrugged.

“Not everyone would see it that way,” Wyll smiled, “But I didn’t mean to intrude, I can let you be,”

Wyll bowed slightly, stepping back. It shouldn’t bother them, like they said, they were used to being alone, they didn’t like being around people, they had come this far from camp to get away from everyone. So why did their stomach drop, blood run cold as Wyll moved away?

“It’s alright, I was just going to clean myself up in the river, I’m sure you could use a dip, I’m hardly standoffish about something as trivial as nudity,”

It wasn’t entirely a lie.

pre ep 4:

- grew up in pottingham with their parents and 7 older brothers

- never interacted much with the other children in the village because they never needed to, their brothers were always there

- was doted on by their parents who always wanted a daughter

- one day their father wished his sons would turn to birds and fly away

- their brothers all become ravens and fly off to a mountain in snowhold

- a few days later they begin to grow feathers and decides to run away

- “my parents wished so much for a daughter that they wished away their sons. imagine how much it would break their hearts to find out they do not have a daughter at all”

- after speaking to the sun, the moon, and the morning star, is given a chicken bone to use as a key to the mountain where their brothers are

- never makes it to the mountain

- is captured by a little thief girl

- manages to escape and meets up with the party while running away through the forest

in between worlds:

- he wakes up in a tree and is in a shifting state of bird features

- talks to the morning star

- only has 3 brothers in this version

- managed to find their brothers in this version but had to chop off a finger because they lost the chicken bone
