i want to ramble about her under the cut

i had the idea of wanting to play someone who obsolutely idolised the HoF growing up. my HoF was a dwarf noble warrior who basically devoted her life to the wardens after origins, and this rook wanted to see herself in the HoF so badly that she put everything into learning to fight, when she transitioned she chose a similar name (HoF is Sunniva, rook is Signy), and then voluntarily joined the wardens as soon as she was old enough

and then realised that it's nothing like the stories. there's very little glory. darkspawn suck. the people in command suck. other wardens suck. everything sucks but going home isn't an option. getting to step away from the order for a while was probably the best thing that could have happened

i think her growth through the story of the game is being forced to actually connect with people rather than see them as eternal acquaintances. and maybe try and stop idolising other people and follow her own trajectory. or something

Signy Carrow, recently named the Inquisitor and thus now Elissa’s boss and not just an equal on the leadership council, looked like she might actually laugh for a moment before settling back into the serious expression she’d worn since arriving at Skyhold. She hadn’t taken a break except to sleep since then, either, and if that line nearly got her laughing then she might just be a little delirious from how little of that she’d been doing.

Elissa placed the orange cat she’d removed from the wartable on a windowsill, where it walked it gave her a reproachful look, walked in a circle three times, and settled down to nap in the sunshine.

“So much for his invasion of Nevarra,” the Inquisitor said. It took a second for Elissa to realize that the Signy wasn’t speaking in an exhausted monotone, but with a dry, deadpan sort of humor.Maybe, Elissa thought, she’s going to be okay. And if the Inquisitor could make it to okay, maybe the rest of them could, too.

I decided that I will do this for Bianca Moore, my protagonist in my passion project. She is the daughter of Asmodeus, the hellish Prince of Lust.

What common/uncommon fear do they have?

Bianca had witnessed the death of two mates at the hands of her father, Asmodeus. Due to this, she is afraid of abandonment. It is this fear that pushes her to support her S/O's antagonistic actions to end the world.

Do they have any pet peeves?

She has a couple of things that she considers pet peeves. People who are overly cheerful, slurps their noodles, and mindlessly confirms are high up on that list. It could be said that she has a slight form of misophonia.

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom?

She has black silk curtains, a black comforter and red sheets, and a modern circular, white vase with red roses sitting on the bed-stand next to her side of the bed.

What do they notice first in a person?

As Bianca has enhanced senses, she notices someone's scent. In Fantasy Worlds Collide, every animal and planet has an unique scent attributed to them. Angels / Demons can sense these underlying smells.

On a scale from 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance?

Before Asmodeus awakened her celestial and infernal blood, her pain tolerance was around a 5. Seeing as her wings were concealed by her skin and they sort of burst from her body, it became around a 7 or 8. She almost died at his hands twice.

Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure?

This evolved over the years. When she was younger, she was taught that the correct response was flight. During her 20s, her 1st guardian was teaching her how to defend herself and control her powers, allowing her to become confident in those abilities but she froze in danger. By the time that she was captured by humans and experimented upon, she was fully able to fight. During her escape, she slaughtered several infantry men, scientists, and super soldiers, showing that her natural instinct was always to fight.

Do they come from a big family/are they a family person?

Bianca's father sired the incubi, so she comes from a huge family. However, she never met any of them, as Asmodeus is the antagonist in FWC. She is a family person. She wants to marry and have a child or two but is hesitant.

What animal represents them best?

As Bianca is intensely devoted, loyal, and a bit mysterious, the animal that represents her the best is a raven. Bianca has a love for ancient texts and forbidden knowledge, which is usually represented in such an animal.

What is a smell they dislike?

Bianca has a dislike for anything that is overly artificial. She has enhanced senses, such as a sense of smell. Synthetic floral perfumes will often overstimulate her senses and give her a migraine.

Have they broken any bones?

Throughout all of her life, she has been subjected to injuries that would kill a normal person. Her father almost skinned her alive to awaken her celestial and infernal blood. There was a scientist, Diana, in another universe that ended up infusing her with alien DNA and experimented upon her. All angelic beings, including fallen angels, have almost instant healing abilities. She was visected by Diana, which means her ribs were broken, etc. When she arrived on Gaia from her original world, she fell through a cosmic portal after she was injured by her father. Her right wing had a compound fracture.

How would a stranger likely describe them?

A stranger would, most likely, find Bianca charming. She can be very manipulative if it means furthering her goals. However, if the stranger is a threat to her or her significant other, Bianca is often mysterious, intimidating, and cold. Due to her duality, her presence can be both captivating and unsettling.

Are they a night owl, or morning bird?

Bianca is a night owl. She prefers the twilight hours and will usually use these hours to go about her duties in protecting her significant other's regenerating body, study, and sometimes just taking a stroll through the desolate landscape she lives in with the dark dragon that had become her protector.

What’s a flavor they hate and a flavor they love?

Bianca has no love for sweet foods. She hates foods like donuts, but one of the flavors that she absolutely hates specifically is caramel. On the other hand, Bianca loves savory foods. She loves steak, especially when it is 'blue' and mash potatoes with lots of gravy.

Do they have any hobbies?

She likes to study ancient texts, explore dark and mysterious worlds, craft artifacts, compose poetry, and star gaze. One of her favorite activities is to spar with her significant other, learning how to master her powers as the harbinger of the Omniverse. She still has a way to go for that.

Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprise?

Bianca had a very traumatic childhood and young adulthood. She hates surprises and will likely react with a mix of annoyance. If the surprise party is thrown by someone she is close with, she will begrudgingly appreciate the gesture but would rather them to skip the surprise part of the party.

Do they like to wear jewellery?

No. She does not wear jewelry. She never seen the point of it and would rather wear clothing that will help her live in the landscape that she is currently living in or a ribbon for her hair which was given to her before her significant other lost himself to madness.

Do they have neat or messy handwriting?

As she grew up on the run from the cult devoted to her father, Bianca tries to be precise in everything she does. She loves calligraphic. Her handwriting is neat and meticulous, showcasing the need to be in control in everything she does.

What are the two emotions they feel the most?

Bianca experiences obsessive devotion and determination. She is very loyal and relentless in her pursuit of her goals and her significant other. She is not afraid to manipulate and give up her very identity for him if it meant that she will succeed in making him a god.

Do they have a favourite fabric?

Bianca loves fabrics like silk against her skin. As Asmodeus is her father who is the Prince of Lust, she loves fabrics that highlights her form, teasing her silhouette to others. Her favorite silks tend to be dark in color or those that fit her color scheme: silver and black. She is also partial to shiny leather.

What kind of accent do they have?

Bianca has a slow, sultry voice. There's a huskiness to it when she talks. Her cadence is very deliberate as she is always in control of the conversation. The accent is very neutral but is refined. The best description of it would be like Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Miss Emily was around Javier's age, right? She was old enough to get married... And it was a shame she wasn't already, with those nice hips of hers, and the generous breasts that she hid behind her uniform... 

“Master Lloyd?” 

“I could need something...” he breathed, his hand on the doorknob already.

“Please tell me. I will help you in any way I can.” 

“... Would you?” 

“Of course, young master.” 

She could help him, then, by getting naked and lying on his bed, obediently, while he licked her down open... Lloyd took a sharp breath, feeling his body burning painfully. 

It hurt already. 

It would be better to get over with it already; Miss Emily said that she would do anything. And he was sure that her folds were going to taste just wonderful once he got her wet with need... lamp isn’t technically an oc I was just thinking Damn… wouldnt it be funny if a jester had a mask and it glowed when it was popped and it was like a fucked up desk lamp… and then things Happened in my brain.

Lamp is roughly 26 years old and will probably reach the age of 45, contrary to normal jester lifetimes (up to 150). this is definitely because of the mask latched onto its right eyesocket, slowly devouring it!

It has not ever met Indigo or Monsoon, and it’s sort of debatable whether or not it exists in the same universe.

Together, the jester and mask create a gestalt :] (in simpler meanings. think of the relationship parasitic fungi have with ants, minus the immediate death of the host!)

The jester half of the relationship is mostly conscious and deeply murderous. The mask half is significantly more docile in behaviors, relating to a regular masked’s habitual stalking and whatnot. It’s not exactly used to possessing a body that’s not explicitly human shaped, so there’s been some complications.

As time progresses, Lamp (as a singular entity) will decay as any usual host will. At one point, the jester half will be subsumed by the mask and entirely absorbed and overtaken.

The reason there’s a mask latched onto its skull is because some random employee majorly panicked and threw a comedy mask at it, which actually helped them escape.

Lamp is constantly bleeding. Normally, a jester doesn’t explicitly bleed; it’s just a mushy mass of preserved flesh that’s nowhere near as fragile as it seems. Because of the mask’s slow consumption and the depth that the mask’s roots have dug into as well as its small amount of experience regarding non-humanoid hosts, Lamp is basically dealing with over a dozen open wounds at all times! Existing is agonizing!

Since the jester wasn’t fully possessed during the first initial attempt, the mask is only able to influence its behaviors and subtly direct it to do other things. For example, if lamp were to chase down a crew mate and the mask didn’t want said crew mate to die yet, it would be able to slow its movements and redirect it briefly in order to give that individual a little more time. It’s not able to stop Lamp from killing them, however.

Lamp does not need to eat. It’s actually unable to because of the mask’s roots. It’s… not a pretty sight, inside of the box. It’s really not.

Collectively they combined create ‘lamp’. Otherwise, they’re both just regular individuals of both species.

Lamp cannot wind very quickly, and the song is very broken up. Leave it to a mask to mangle all of the careful things going on in the box (the jester is very pissed about this but cannot do anything about it)

The jester is effectively blind. The mask is not. The jester has an amazing sense of hearing and senses vibrations very well. Combined, you’ve got every crew’s worst nightmare—if Lamp can actually wind itself. It takes longer than two minutes, that I can assure you.

There was one single occasion when Lamp fell down a flight of stairs. It was embarrassing, because there was another masked at the bottom. Lamp mauled it out of embarrassment and generally murderous instinct. (The mask itself was not happy about this.)

The relationship it has with other Masked is very very complicated. Over time, as the jester half is consumed, affectionate interactions come easier. Currently, about two months into being stuck together, Lamp has a greater tendency to avoid masked or otherwise murder them. The instinct to grab them and shake like a rabid dog is so prevalent that the Mask cannot even begin to attempt to suppress it.

It Can vomit blood as a regular masked would. It’s kind of like a firehose, though. Like, yknow how a pressure washer can remove flesh from bone? Short range with a very long ‘recharge’. Mainly because there’s not as much blood in its body as you’d expect.

They are two individual beings shoved into one body, one of which is significantly ’fainter’ than the other. There has been more than one occasion where the jester half has attempted to claw the mask off with its singular hand. It has not worked.

Yes, the blood boils. It’s steadily eroding Lamp’s ‘skull’ away, and eating through the box. The skull will eventually have enough grooves and wedges that it just falls apart. The box will experience this as well.

It’s not outright hate; the jester dislikes the mask as one would dislike a spider trapped in their closet. Annoying. Not really bothered by death, just sort of begrudgingly wandering around with it. It doesn’t have the real capability to remove it nor does it retain enough of itself to hate it.

Going with Hjalmar on this one!

Hjalmar's a bit of a savant when it comes to cooking, taught to him by his mother Signy throughout his childhood and perfected as he got older. He's made quite a number of delicious meals ranging from soups, roasts, grilled and barbecued meats, and has quite the talent when it comes to baking dessert goods (the latter being one of two ways he copes with stress).

This talent has sort of made him the unofficial chef for Dragon's Watch, with Mar going out of his way to make sure his fellow guild mates are well fed before rushing off to protect Tyria (while also trying to keep Liana from eating things that shouldn't be consumed). He's also made a point to learn about all the numerous cuisines throughout their travels, making sure to find time when possible to learn from some of the chefs he encounters.

Hjalmar loves cooking almost as much as he loves adventuring, and had even considered trying his hand at a cafe or restaurant of his own in Lion's Arch whenever he decides he has had enough exploration. Recent events, however, have him reconsidering this idea, especially when his relationship with Yao becomes serious to the point he's even considered moving to Cantha.

Either surnames or LI's names have meanings!

I tried to search for flower symbolism, but never found a perfect one (because I keep using it for my OCs). So I chose the 2nd best thing for my usual naming search (in my opinion), the Latin language. Except for Deziree which they were somewhat from a name meanings (3rd best).

I found some latin words and made things up to make it sound like a name.

Levithus = Levitas = Levity, Haughtiness (Their narcissistic part)

Signis = Segnis = Apathetic (didn't cry when they were born until they got slapped gently)

Hillare = Hilaris = Cheerful (brings joy within their family)

Deziree = Desirae = Desire, Longing/Yearning (wink wink 😋)

2. What fanfic do you wish you got more response on?

The Horizon Line. I love Horizon, I think it's one of the best things I've written, but (by my standards) it's not very popular and didn't get a lot of response. I do know why -- it's a prequel in an established AU, it does something completely different than the other story in the series, it focuses on different characters, it's set during an awkward period in the canon; there's too much Loki for Cap or Widow fans and too much Cap and Widow for Loki fans. But it still makes me sad, and it has made me really hesitate on going back to the Yonderverse.

6. Have you written any fanfictions featuring OCs? If so, elaborate!

Yeah, most of them. Marvel's actually an outlier for me because I write very few OCs here, though Home has a bunch -- all the matryoshki but Lorraine and Dottie (who is showing up in 10), Kim Pantcheff and Hana Korematsu from the SSR cryptanalysts; technically the members of the Winter Guard are comics canon characters but that's just me tacking on canon names to OCs. Horizon's got a handful of Asgardian OCs -- Ullr, Forseti, Rota, Signy -- and of course the various Widows and Hulk-Widows are OCs.

Back in Star Wars, Backbone has some very major OC characters -- Alecto, Doriah, and the rest of the extended Syndulla clan being the main culprits, along with every other Twi'lek other than Cham and Hera. (Backbone was written before SW introduced Hera's mother in canon.) Roberto Beneke, Hera's ISB handler, is an OC; the bulk of the Inquisitors are OCs. (Backbone was also written before SW introduced the numbering system for the Inquisition.) Gambit also has a number of OCs, mostly in the Naboo military.

Back in Narnia the bulk of my characters were OCs. Writing in Marvel and Star Wars, there are a lot of background canon characters, both from the mainline canon (films, TV) and from comics and EU, and very often I can just pull someone from there. I only use OCs if there's no way around it. The trick, of course, is to write them without making them seem like OCs and like I am pulling them out of an obscure piece of canon. I've gotten a lot of comments in my day from people saying that they don't usually read fic that features OCs in main roles, so I am cautious about using them heavily; Backbone's a major outlier. (And back in the day I did not think that Star Wars would ever give Hera's mother a canon name.)

12. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Except on very rare occasions (usually for clarification), I only respond to direct questions in comments and even then I only do it about half the time.

About fifteen years ago, back in the LJ days, I lost my temper at someone who'd left a comment mixing my fic up with someone else's, and after that I instituted a strict 24-hour cooling off period between posting and replying to comments. Eventually, that changed to a week, and then to only replying to the comments on the last chapter just before the new chapter was going to be posted. I stuck to that for a really long time, I don't remember when exactly that changed, but I think it had to do with when I started getting a lot of hate on Gambit -- I don't respond to negative comments, period, but I felt weird about replying to every comment on a chapter but the negative ones, so often I wouldn't reply to any comments on that chapter. I used to also reply to comments on the first couple chapters of a story, and then just peter off answering comments on the rest of it -- I think I did this for Morning -- but it eventually has just turned into not responding to comments at all. I also don't like answering comments because (1) it messes up the comment numbers on a story and I'd rather that be an accurate reflection of how many comments people other than me have left and (2) I do reread my comments and I don't like rereading my own responses, since they tend to be variations on "thanks for reading, I'm glad you're enjoying the story!" If you want to come talk to me about my fic, do it off AO3; I'm happy to talk about it on Tumblr or Twitter, in person if you know me IRL, but I don't want to do it in my AO3 comment section.

I do respond to non-AO3 comments, i.e. if I'm posting concept writing on Tumblr, I'll respond to those comments. But I don't get that many of them.

Alright well, I gave in anyway and opened up BG3 to first make all my d&d ocs, and then I went ahead and played a bunch anyway.

My poor half-orc cleric who is supposed to be far more round was subject to strict body type options, while my dumbass stereotype paladin dudebro became so extra stereotyped he's the most bland generic video game guy ever. Of course he is. 😂

The halfling bard/druid who I probably should have made druid at first level instead of bard (it makes sense for her story I promise) is fairly good, but the vibe was killed by that outfit. Gnome barbarian Signy might be a bit too dainty, but she's got the right vibes I guess.

Into the much easier to translate characters:

The elf warlock princess is appropriately bitchy looking and I just want her with a fancier outfit, really. Meanwhile my tiefling paladin translated pretty well, except I had to do a makeshift tattoo for her face colorings. But overall happy with these two!

Then there's the boy. THE BOY. Silver the Bard. Appropriately pretty. Thankfully I think he looks enough apart from Astarion that it wouldn't be the weirdest twinsies playthrough like I feared, but I ultimately decided that to truly roleplay a Silver playthrough I'd probably succumb to some stupid chaos much sooner than I'd like, so I decided that he'd be a second run maybe some other time. I love you, bard son.

Ultimately I opted to do the play with my druid Mahriel because I think it's a calmer, more even-keeled roleplaying situation, and I think she translated fairly well with the pre-sets given. So... there she is. My pretty gal, just wondering what the heck is going on and wondering when she can just go back to her hut in the woods.

Their outfits really do contrast where they’re from, lmao.

I really wanted to go all out on Signy with the bear theme, so she has a bear skin mantle that still includes the paws and claws. The trimmings of her tunic under the steel chest armor is also made of bear fur, as are her leg wrappings. She has a traditional celtic/viking/norse belt that wraps around itself and I also included her weapon holster, although I don’t have an exact idea for what her axe will look like. The inner fur lining of her steel bracers, once again, is bear fur. The tunic is made from linen, and her pants are tempered leather. She has two steel shoulder guars that go over her bear skin mantle.

Can you tell I was looking at various pieces of Skyrim armor in order to get an idea for what I wanted her design to be like? ^^;;

Kikumi is so smol and elegant next to Signy, lol. She’s got a bear woman as a bodyguard, lmao.

(Lyswen) What was your muse's personality like as a kid? How has it changed since then?

Lyswen was a deceptively quiet child. Plenty of her shyness was genuine and a result of the whole dead parents thing, but she was also scarily good at affecting the downtrodden orphan personality in order to scam her way into food or money.

4. (Sille) How was your muse's relationship with their childhood guardians? Has it changed over time, and if so, how? Do they keep in touch?

Sille has always been on good terms with her parents, but she left home to become a priestess of Kyne when she was twelve and hasn't lived with them since, so they're not especially close. She writes to them semi-regularly, but I would say it's more of an obligation thing than anything else. She cares about them, but her community is found with the goddess, not her family.

8. (Sille) What did your muse do in their free time? How did they entertain themself as a kid?

Sille always wanted to be outside. She was the kind of kid who had to be dragged away from an anthill because she wanted to watch them for hours or yelled at from the base of a tree because she'd climbed dangerously high.

11. (Sille)What expectations were placed on your muse as a child? Who had those expectations for your muse? How did your muse feel about them?

Sille's parents always knew she was meant for something greater. She was kind of an odd kid, and they could never imagine her being content with settling down with a spouse and kids. They were very supportive when she decided to leave home. Sille appreciates this, but I think she also takes it for granted. To her, it wouldn't have made any sense for them to try and stop her because it was her destiny to serve Kyne. This is another source of tension between her and her sister Signy; their parents were absolutely NOT okay with Signy joining the Legion, which pissed her off in the extreme. Signy doesn't see why her leaving home should be treated any differently than Sille's.

15. (Lyswen) What's one childhood memory that has stuck with your muse over the years? What's it significance to your muse now?

The sort of leader of the group of adolescent thieves lovable scamps that Lyswen fell in with was a 16 (at the time) year old named Cordell. Shortly after Lyswen joined the group, they came across some dead bandits whose corpses hadn't been looted yet. This was a huge score for them, especially considering that this is Valenwood and leaving a corpse unlooted and un-disposed of is like throwing you money in the garbage because you couldn't be bothered to count it. On one of the bandits' bodies was a razor-sharp bone dagger. Cordell, who was by far the most experienced thief among them, would have been completely justified in keeping it for himself, but he instead handed it over to Lyswen, who was like 6 years old and basically dead weight. That moment of kindness was what made her realize that her new friends had every intention of keeping her around. That knife was one of the few things she had with her when she was shipped off to Morrowind.

18. (Lyswen) What's one thing that instantly transports your muse back to their childhood? Why?

The sounds and smells of a crackling campfire. To her, it means safety, companionship, and the end of a long day. Sometimes, as she settles down next to her won, smaller fires at the end of the day, she can almost hear her friends around her, talking and cracking jokes.
