🐚 🎲 🌿 for your latest list of asks, please! :)
🐚 ⇢ do you like or dislike surprises?
It depends on the surprise. I typically like knowing what's going on, especially if it's something that will put attention on me in front of a group of people. (In person, to be specific.) Little things-- like someone surprising me with cookies or a treat or things of that nature-- I'm fine with.
🎲 ⇢ what stops you from writing more in your free time?
Self-discipline, if I'm being honest. It's a lot easier to scroll the internet than it is to write. There are plenty of days I open up Tumblr or Discord for "just five minutes" and an hour has passed when I surface. (I am truly starting to feel like I literally waste my time when I do that and yet it's difficult to stop.) Sometimes, it's tiredness or exhaustion. I don't have the easiest job in the world and while my commute is much better than it was when I started this job, there are plenty of days I come home and want to do nothing taxing. Sometimes it's knowing that to properly write what I want to, I need to do a canon review and that ties into the tiredness part.
🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer’s block and low creativity
It will pass. Sometimes you have to let things lie fallow for them to grow. Sometimes life will make it difficult or impossible to write. That's a tough one to accept (something I'm still working on myself!) but it's true. Sometimes the butt-in-chair method works; sometimes it doesn't. But mostly: in time, it will pass.

May ask 2, 6, and 12 from the fanfic asks, please?
2. What fanfic do you wish you got more response on?
The Horizon Line. I love Horizon, I think it's one of the best things I've written, but (by my standards) it's not very popular and didn't get a lot of response. I do know why -- it's a prequel in an established AU, it does something completely different than the other story in the series, it focuses on different characters, it's set during an awkward period in the canon; there's too much Loki for Cap or Widow fans and too much Cap and Widow for Loki fans. But it still makes me sad, and it has made me really hesitate on going back to the Yonderverse.
6. Have you written any fanfictions featuring OCs? If so, elaborate!
Yeah, most of them. Marvel's actually an outlier for me because I write very few OCs here, though Home has a bunch -- all the matryoshki but Lorraine and Dottie (who is showing up in 10), Kim Pantcheff and Hana Korematsu from the SSR cryptanalysts; technically the members of the Winter Guard are comics canon characters but that's just me tacking on canon names to OCs. Horizon's got a handful of Asgardian OCs -- Ullr, Forseti, Rota, Signy -- and of course the various Widows and Hulk-Widows are OCs.
Back in Star Wars, Backbone has some very major OC characters -- Alecto, Doriah, and the rest of the extended Syndulla clan being the main culprits, along with every other Twi'lek other than Cham and Hera. (Backbone was written before SW introduced Hera's mother in canon.) Roberto Beneke, Hera's ISB handler, is an OC; the bulk of the Inquisitors are OCs. (Backbone was also written before SW introduced the numbering system for the Inquisition.) Gambit also has a number of OCs, mostly in the Naboo military.
Back in Narnia the bulk of my characters were OCs. Writing in Marvel and Star Wars, there are a lot of background canon characters, both from the mainline canon (films, TV) and from comics and EU, and very often I can just pull someone from there. I only use OCs if there's no way around it. The trick, of course, is to write them without making them seem like OCs and like I am pulling them out of an obscure piece of canon. I've gotten a lot of comments in my day from people saying that they don't usually read fic that features OCs in main roles, so I am cautious about using them heavily; Backbone's a major outlier. (And back in the day I did not think that Star Wars would ever give Hera's mother a canon name.)
12. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Except on very rare occasions (usually for clarification), I only respond to direct questions in comments and even then I only do it about half the time.
About fifteen years ago, back in the LJ days, I lost my temper at someone who'd left a comment mixing my fic up with someone else's, and after that I instituted a strict 24-hour cooling off period between posting and replying to comments. Eventually, that changed to a week, and then to only replying to the comments on the last chapter just before the new chapter was going to be posted. I stuck to that for a really long time, I don't remember when exactly that changed, but I think it had to do with when I started getting a lot of hate on Gambit -- I don't respond to negative comments, period, but I felt weird about replying to every comment on a chapter but the negative ones, so often I wouldn't reply to any comments on that chapter. I used to also reply to comments on the first couple chapters of a story, and then just peter off answering comments on the rest of it -- I think I did this for Morning -- but it eventually has just turned into not responding to comments at all. I also don't like answering comments because (1) it messes up the comment numbers on a story and I'd rather that be an accurate reflection of how many comments people other than me have left and (2) I do reread my comments and I don't like rereading my own responses, since they tend to be variations on "thanks for reading, I'm glad you're enjoying the story!" If you want to come talk to me about my fic, do it off AO3; I'm happy to talk about it on Tumblr or Twitter, in person if you know me IRL, but I don't want to do it in my AO3 comment section.
I do respond to non-AO3 comments, i.e. if I'm posting concept writing on Tumblr, I'll respond to those comments. But I don't get that many of them.

Hi, thanks so much for the kind shout-out! 🙂 May I ask about “The Miseducation of Molulci Rossunto,” if someone hasn’t already? (Whoever that character is has an awesome name!)
Of course! Thanks for the ask!
Molly is a Selonian OC I created for another story of mine called Broken Bonds. She was originally supposed to be a background character only. I actually made her name by looking at other Selonian characters from the old video games and then trying to create something that was phonetically similar, but not by too much. There's also a super cool Star Wars name generator (well, there are several) that can create names based on the species of your character. I don't tend to use the names that the generator spits out, but I like to read what it comes up with to get a feel for how names from these races might sound like.
Anyhow, sorry for going off on a tangent! After Broken Bonds, I couldn't get Molly out of my head, and thought it would be cool to try and write a story from a non-Human (or near-Human, even) perspective. So, it is a sort-of sequel to Broken Bonds (although it's not necessary to read that story, and it might even work better if you haven't), but it's populated by mostly these OCs I made for that story. It takes place before the prequel trilogy. Anakin Skywalker's probably an infant or toddler around this time.
By the way, Molly's adventures don't directly affect the Skywalker saga. She is never involved in major events from the movies or TV series. The galaxy is vast. She's out there, doing her own thing.
Oh, and her tale is deeply steeped in bounty hunter lore and politics. A kind of "how did a Selonian become a bounty hunter anyway?" type of story. So, I guess it shares a bit in common with your Book of Gand series in that sense.
Thanks again for asking! Sorry for rambling!
Okay, sorry! Sorry! Last thing! I had to post the only artwork I have of her! (My brother made this for me; he's the best! Thanks @xvlvxvr !)

Is it all right if I ask you a few more questions from those fanfic writers' asks? If so, may I ask for 12, 13, and 18?
absolutely!!
12. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to! Sometimes I don't have the wherewithal to do so in the moment but I definitely always read the comments I get.
13. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No - not yet, anyway. Hopefully that streak holds!
18. Recommend someone else's fic! (And tag them if they have a tumblr!)
I know my usual bag is Star Wars but @unironicallycringe's The Mask-Maker is an absolute treat for readers who enjoy worldbuilding!

9 People You Want to Know Better
I was tagged by @broodwolf221
Three ships: Finnreylo (Star Wars), Varric/Hawke/Lavellan (Dragon Age), aaaaaand...do platonic ships count? I'm counting platonic ships because DoctorDonna has my whole heart and has done since 2006.
First ship: God, I think it was Kataang. I was one of those real cringey kids who thought Zutara was dumb and you were dumb for shipping it.
Last song: I think it was Animal by Miike Snow. The Punks Jump Up remix.
Last movie: I haven't watched a film in so long, dang. I think the last one was Late Night With the Devil.
Currently reading: re-reading 1984 by George Orwell. I read it in school, but I've forgotten like 90% of it.
Currently watching: Criminal Minds.
Currently eating: I'm not eating anything, but I am drinking tea.
Currently craving: Some cooler weather, above anything else.
Tagging: @axelauras, @carnalapples, @findswoman, @lyntergalactic, @teine-mallaichte,
@theaceofdragons, @midnightprelude, @perlen-gold, and @layalu. And anyone else who would like to do it! <3

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Spread the self-love ❤️
Oh! Oooooh, sssshskfhk okay, I gotta narrow this down here.
1. "Shatterpoint" (Star Wars Rebels)
Yeah I still honestly think I peaked with that one lol.
2. "Sides of the Coin" (Teen Titans)
Still really proud of my work on this story, it was a fun adventure. I continue to try and get a coherent plot outline together for the sequel fic.
3. "Static" (Teen Titans)
I put this one on the list mostly on the basis of it earned me a really sweet and lovely long comment/review from one of my favorite TT fanauthors (Rena Redhead of many early Slade vs. Robin Apprentice!fics), who was so nice and complimentary about how much my writing had improved and how delightful it was to see my progress. I love that comment, I want to frame it, it made me so happy.
4. "Little Wooden Lightsaber Boy" (Star Wars Rebels)
IDK GUYS I JUST KEEP RE-READING IT, I JUST THINK IT'S SO WHOLESOME AND CUTE AND I'M REALLY PROUD OF IT.
5. "Titans Tales" (Teen Titans)
Had to put the OG fanfic on here somewhere, it was my first, my baby, I stayed with it so many years though many long hiatuses and finally gave it the closure and cap it deserved and there's a lot of decent work in there. Plus it's like fifteen years old so you can really see my growth as a writer.
Thanks @findswoman for tagging me on this, gonna find some writers to spread this to.

1, 3, 5, and 13 for the writing ask game!!
Hey there, thanks you so much for the ask, and sorry to be so slow in answering! (From this list.) Here you go:
1. what is the dumbest possible version of the next sentence you need to write?
Probably something like “nice night out tonight, isn’t it?” (Namely, some kind of filler talk as the two characters walk to where they’re going next. Just by way of context, there’s a rainstorm going on at this point in the story, so it definitely is not a nice night out.)
3. name five things that are NOT going to happen next
(1) The weather is going to suddenly change and get sunny again. (2) One or both characters are going to fall into the water (they’re in the Royal Water Gardens on Naboo). (3) Baddies (of whatever kind) are going to show up. (4) Anything romantic. (5) Anything humorous.
5. what is the next moment you need to write that’s interesting to you?
When Telfien (OC, Gand female, visiting Naboo for a festival) actually accesses the Mist Rift she has suspected is present in the water gardens, and with the help of her powers as a Findswoman manages to communicate with her long-lost Zuckuss.
13. what’s a song that fits the current mood you need?
Probably something like Loreena McKennitt’s All Souls’ Night.

Last Line Game
Tagged by @findswoman! Thank you!
Rules: In a new post, show the last line you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as there are words (or as many as you like).
And because the universe had a very ironic sense of humour, that was the moment when he heard her voice.
This is from Ch 2 of good intentions, my TMA time travel fic. Any guesses as to who She is??
Not tagging anyone, but feel free to play, and tag me if you played because of this post—even if I don’t follow you!

Hi Indy, hope you’ve been well! May I ask for 5, 18, and 24 in the fandom love asks, please?
I'm doing okay!
[Meme questions here.]
5. something you see a lot in fics and love
Jedi as family. Not the nuclear family model some people project onto it, but the entire Order as a large, sprawling family. Sure, you won't know everyone, but that doesn't matter. They're connected to you in ways non-sensitives will never understand.
18. a fandom tag that you track
I don't track many tags and most of the ones I do are Young Wizards-related, though I do have a few in other fandoms. That said, the tag I check most often is "depa billaba." I can never have enough Depa.
24. how has fandom positively impacted your life?
I have friends and acquantences literally all over the world. Some I have known for nearly two decades and others much more recent. But they are, each and every one of them, a treasure.

May I ask for 6, 17, and 25 from the “choose violence” list? Any fandom you like; if it makes a difference the one I know best is SW, though I understand if you’d prefer not to talk about that.
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
Reylo fans for general Star Wars, Kalluzeb fans for Rebels specifically. My standards for ships is "do whatever the hell you want," but both of those tend to be really aggressive. (I have no real feelings on Reylo since I'm not an ST person, but I really dislike Kalluzeb.)
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
I have no strong feelings here; I blissfully have no idea what people are doing these days apart from complaining.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
this is actually the opposite of a complaint, but I'm really sick of seeing responses to justified (or even just emotional) criticism of live-action decisions (Mando/BOBF/Ahsoka) being variations of "shut up and be happy."

Last Line Game
Tagged by the amazing @findswoman! Thank you so much for thinking of me, and I am so very sorry that it took me so long to reply and join in. I've been in hardcore lurker-mode lately.
RULES: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.
He’d had a hunt to begin, after all, a vengeance to carry out.
Dun, dun, DUN!!! (For anyone who knows anything about my writing, yes, this pertains to Maul.)
A baker's dozen worth of words, or an even fourteen if I count that contraction as two words. Hm... I'm not sure I even know that many peeps on this site. Well, let me try compiling my list of usual suspects... @blackkatmagic, @its-not-a-pen, @doorsclosingslowly, @studiomkm, @indira-korr, @marvel-mistress-padawan, @loosingmoreletters, @ghostwriterofthemachine, @saricess, @sophronist, @sl-walker, @stealingpotatoes, @metataxy, @captainmazzic
(Yo, if you got tagged by me but have no clue as to who I am, just know that I have enjoyed your works on AO3 to the point that I have subscribed to your works and/or your username over on that site. I've probably left comments or kudos on your stuff. Y'all are great, and you inspire me.)
(And of course, that also includes @findswoman, who weaves such intricate, captivating stories and is a wonderful person overall!)

Hi! So, for #6, something I recall vividly from your stories is that you included Doda Bodonawieedo in one of them, namely, “Requiem Solo for Slitherhorn.” That was the first time I’d seen even a mention of that character from anyone in years! And I loved the combination of banter and bonding you gave him and his younger clanmate Greedo—it was a wonderful exploration of The Rodian Experience! 💚
thanks so much! 💚 I was really struck by the idea introduced by West End that they were from the same clan and thought that was ripe for a little character exploration. I have several more ideas with those two that I hope to get around to banging out at some point in the future too 😄

I have to recommend this Palo x Padmé AU oneshot by @findswoman! A beautiful portrait of the beginning of motherhood and finding new love in old places.
Dawwww this is so soft! I love how gentle Palo is, and also, I love an AU where Padmé is alive haha. This is such a sweet little fic, and it left me grinning. I adore seeing Obi-Wan's perspective on this as well, and how he's happy to see his friend happy. Thanks so much for sending this in!
