#oc: pestilence

the next set of guys i wanna introduce for VotHa!! meet brisa, the medium's head statistician, and her infamous, long-dead brother, zenith. for the adult cast, at least, Visions is a very siblings-focused story...and much of the cast's relationships with one another revolves around how they viewed zenith, especially for brisa. Everything Is This Guy's Fault!!!!

the (under)world of this universe operates as a bureaucracy: different departments of the medium handle different aspects, means, and sometimes even interpretations, of death and the afterlife. above all of that, though, stand the recordkeepers: the head statistician and the head librarian, who compile information encompassing all departments. they're both usually hereditary positions given to the current ruler's siblings...head statistician brisa, however, is in quite a tricky position: she's currently interim head necromancer, alongside her usual duties, picking up the mess that her brother's trial and resulting political unrest has left behind...

suddenly handed the responsibility of raising a child to be an heir well-respected enough to repair the public image of the petaloudas after both zenith's execution and atalanta's parents getting assassinated, she's called for the assistance of the horsemen, four powerful siblings and medium officials who knew zenith quite well, in training atalanta. little did she know that despite their well-deserved reputations as powerhouses, they're...far more eclectic than she'd bargained for. and also just as inexperienced with children as she is. and have essentially become yet another responsibility to handle on brisa's already-full plate.

as atalanta uncovers more about the baggage zenith left behind, however, both physically and emotionally, perhaps her mentors could be of some use to her...and brisa, too, potentially, if the two ever manage to get past their rocky relationship with one another...and if brisa ever manages to get past hers with zenith. maybe as the last two survivors of the royal bloodline, they'll teach each other a few things about their family name...eventually.

Wildbreak had me crying. This man! THIS MAN! I never knew how hard it was to find a back view of him AND HIS FEET. DAMN! I FEEL MERCY'S LEVEL OF PAIN EVEN IF IT'S JUST SLIGHTLY.

i'm only uploading these now as I know that she now has it and see whats inside. She also got this from my sketchbook because it's the reason for our blooming friendship!

They are Yersinia the God of Pestilence. They are a sadistic lord of death which creates illnesses and spreads them in the world. Of course, They are based on the medieval Plague Doctors, but They don't heal, they bring death. (They are my baby birb :3)

WOAH oh my god?? it's oc time??! some character sheets of my main two gals for my original story, Visions of the Hereafter!

the plot focuses on heiress to the underworld (also known as the medium in-universe), atalanta, who shows great raw power but has incredible difficulty channeling and restraining her emotions, which is super important when you're a necromancer. and while her mentors have taught her a lot, her aunt brisa never lets her hear the end of how far behind she is, as the clock is ticking for her ascension as head necromancer.

meanwhile, mortal delinquent and con artist kris has lived her whole life with the strange ability to sense the dead...when atalanta goes up to the surface under brisa's strict supervision as part of her training, what on earth happens when she manages to sneak off anyways and bumps into kris? it seems like the two are inexplicably connected, somehow...could the realms of the living and dead colliding like this only spell disaster just like atalanta's education in the medium has always taught her, or could it perhaps lead to something more...?

everything regarding this story is gonna be in my #VotHa tag from now on, more guys to come!

It has been a relatively quiet week, so I have been drawing and trying to combine the sketches into something more.

By the way, I suddenly realized how little Destard’s understanding of romance and marriage could be. He lacks feelings similar to those of higher organisms, and only has two states - comfort and discomfort. Instead, he has a set of rules and patterns of behavior that he follows in order to simulate a "normal person", which allows him to stay in the "comfort" state for as long as possible.

After Blanca became a new member of the family, Dest respected, protected her and showed interest in what she liked - because this was his "Family behaviour", but it still takes him a long to adapt to a new person. At the beginning of their relationship, any interaction between them was one continuous period of awkwardness, silence and misunderstanding. Sometimes, he would stare blankly into space or into book for hours, completely ignoring everyone, until Blanca spoke to him. When she did, he would immediately change. A friendly smile, gestures, and facial expressions would appear, along with a responsive reaction to her conversation - all of which looked good. But if you looked closer, you could see that his overfocus on Blanca's words, his gestures were repetitive, and he often averted his gaze as if following a timer. What made Blanca even more nervous was the way he quickly returned to his "empty" state after she finished talking.
