Rill's home life is... stressful. It's been hard to shake the feeling that he was adopted as a trophy to show off when convenient, and Rill's probably not completely wrong even if it wasn't intentional on his parents' parts. The only adult Rill even remotely loves and trusts is Nobils but even that is tainted by their financial ties. The Sun's Blood Spills Over Serrasalm is an admirable figure, but they've only met in person once or twice. Rill would love to eventually take their advice and devour this house from the inside out. Eventually.

Everyone's parent has a story of how their kid nearly gave them a heart attack.

What stories do the madrigals have regarding your next gen fic?

Oh god, so many.

Like, soooo many.

I decided to do just the biggest heart-attack inducing event for each kid.

Miranda: She's well-behaved, so the biggest moment was when she first got her gift at age eight and almost floated off into the stratosphere XD.

Amelia: At fifteen, she snuck out with her girlfriend and they got caught kissing....rather passionately.

Sofía: Got angsty one time at age ten and decided that she wanted to live in the walls like her father did. She was missing for half a day, and everyone was panicking.

Princesa: At the ripe old age of six, she was experimenting with her gift and almost caused a rock slide.

Fuega: She was twelve, and got so angry at one of the townspeople that instead of bursting into flames, she just straight up passed out for a minute.

Leta: That time she tried to climb the walls of the Encanto and fell like fifty feet, breaking her arm. I'd say she was around sixteen or so.

Andrés: When he first got his gift and just straight up vanished from sight lol.

Carlos: When he duplicated his birthday cake one too many times and made himself sick. He was five, this was the night he got his gift.

Avila: When she was nine, she wanted to see if she could freeze herself in time. Turns out she can, but when she's frozen, she can't unfreeze herself until it wears off. The family was actually very worried that she'd be stuck like that forever.

Amada: Got angry when she was eleven, and went to go sulk in the town's canal. Turns out, her water powers also let her breathe underwater, which no one knew.

Tomás: Tried to hover a giant wagon with his powers, and almost dropped it on his head. He was around eight or so.

Rómulo: When he was seven, he used his super speed to jump out of one of Mariana's portals, and ended up running himself straight into the ground. He was very injured. Did that stop him from doing it again? No.

Zoe: Straight up wandered away from her family while in town when she was five. They spent hours looking for her, only to discover that she'd found a tree to take a nap under.

Hugo: He befriended a big-ass spider, and let it crawl around on his head for a few months, until it died. He was nine.

José: Swindled a few men from the city for around 100 Colombian Pesos. They were not happy, and were actually probably gonna hurt José if they didn't get their money back. Luckily the family were able to yeet them out of the Encanto before anything got bad. José was nine, and very very very grounded.

Héctor: When he was five, he turned into an elephant to show off, and passed out after three seconds of transformation.

Óscar: Soon after he got his gift, he had a huge meltdown because he was seeing ghosts and things that other people couldn't see. The family was worried he was seriously hurt or something.

Beatriz: Was trying so hard to keep a surprise birthday party a secret, she projectile vomited all over the kitchen table. Poor kid was six, and so embarassased.

Lidia: Had a temper tantrum at age five, and made a scribble monster that wrecked havoc on the town until Pepa made it rain.

The Three Ladies (OC fanart)

Authors note: The story is all fiction except for the historical figures mentioned

In the summer of 1681, on a hot and sweltering morning, a young maiden named Soledad de San Juan, who had light brown hair, green eyes, and pockmarked skin, prepared for her day's work. She was accompanied by another young maiden, Isabelle de Medinacelli, who had pale skin, blue eyes, and dark brown hair. Upon arriving at the Queen's chambers, they assisted Marie Louise with her morning routine, fixing her hair and offering her a glass of water.

The Duchess of Terranova then commanded the ladies to step aside, announcing that she had news about the Queen’s new painter, who was rumored to be French and had just arrived at court. Outside the palace, a young maiden dressed in blue, named Santiana, who sat in a wheelchair, spotted the painter with all his equipment. When he arrived, he bowed to the King, Queen, and Queen Mother, and called for the Queen, as she was the subject of his latest upcoming masterpiece.

Mariana of Austria opposed the idea of a French painter portraying Maria Luisa, arguing, "There are already many painters at court; why bring in a French one?" Carlos explained to her that the portrait would be sent to the Duke of Orleans.

Santiana followed the painter, and along with Soledad and Isabelle, they observed Marie Louise being painted. "This portrait is something to remember," Santiana whispered, causing the girls to giggle.

"I have an idea," Isabelle proposed.

"What is it?" Soledad asked.

"We should be remembered too! We should have a portrait together," Isabelle suggested.

They began searching for a painter to commission their portrait, but most artists were busy and unavailable until the following month. Isabelle then asked her father, the Duke of Medinacelli, to persuade a painter to agree to create the portrait. The Duke convinced a painter at court, who ultimately agreed to take on the project. The trio then headed to their rooms to select the outfits they would wear for the occasion.

Isabelle took her seat as Soledad moved Santiana's wheelchair closer to the table and smoothed down the fabric of her dress. "Calm down, Santiana", Isabelle whispered across the table, an encouraging smile on her face. "It doesn't happen every day that we'll get painted. It's a true privilege. " Santiana sighed. "That is exactly why I am so nervous. It has to be perfect…" Soledad patted her friend's hand and squeezed it slightly. "It will. How could it not?" The door burst open and the painter entered. He took his time to carefully arrange his utensils, then turned around with a friendly expression. "Shall we get started?"

Isabelle then brought her pet raven with her. the raven made noises which causes the painter to be distracted.

After months of painting, the portrait was finally completed. Soledad, Isabelle, and Santiana gazed at it in silence. Soledad swallowed hard until Isabelle eventually broke the quiet. "I told you it would be perfect, didn't I?" she said, leaning down toward Santiana and wrapping her arm around the back of the chair. "We'll always remember this day, preserved for eternity in this painting," Santiana agreed. "This painting will represent so much more than just this day. It will always reflect one of the most beautiful things in this world," Isabelle added. Soledad smiled at her two friends and reached out her hands to them. "Our Friendship," she declared.

How far we've come

About 4 months ago I was thinking on how I could possibly thank the greatest community ever, which I when I started my 4-month long animatic project to show a mere ounce of my entire gratitude for this newfound family. And now it is here.

5: Do they have another form? nope, Mariana doesn't have another form or even another outfit I've made at this point. i would never really use a super form of her, but she would totally have more outfits.

12: Are they good with Chao, Wisp, or any other sort of creature? I think she would actually be particularly bad with accommodating any small dependent creature for a prolonged period of time haha. She just doesn't have the interest or patience for them.

26: What is something they like the most about themselves? Mariana is an artist/sculptor, and a proud one at that. she mostly takes pride in her unique sense of artistic vision, even if noone else really gets it(they just aren't on her level)

Decided to do a re-draw of these two (here’s the link to the original post). Honestly my style hasn’t changed too much since 2020, but I’m still happy with how this turned out. Especially the lighting.
