So, here's a short excerpt for WIP Wednesday (963 words)! Thank you for everyone who followed my new writing blog, the response has been so unbelievable.

Danny ran up stairs to grab his phone and return to the computer before anyone could close out of his chat. He checked the number and dialed it, closing out of everything and logging out as the call connected.

“Tim?” he asked as soon as the ringing stopped. “What’s happened?”

“Danny? I… this is weird talking like this.” Tim’s voice was rough and Danny couldn’t tell if that was from emotion or just how he normally sounded.

Danny laughed a little. “Yeah. It is. Give me a sec, let me get to my room and I’ll shut the door. Give us some privacy.”

“I… yeah. I might need a few minutes.”

“Are you okay?”

Tim made a sound that was somewhere between a laugh and a sob and Danny all but ran up the stairs. “No, not really. Um. My mom’s dead.”

“What?!" What was the appropriate response to something like this? Sometimes he wished he had Jazz's way with words. "What happened?”

“She and dad were in the Caribbean." Tim let out a huff. "I didn’t even know they were in the Caribbean.”

Danny made a noise to indicate he was listening, but waited for Tim to continue.

“There was a local villain named Obeah man. He captured them and held them ransom. Gave them some water to drink at some point, but… it was poisoned. By the time Batman got there, it was too late. Mom died.” Tim gave another half-hysterical laugh. “And my dad is in a coma. He may never wake up.” His voice trailed off.

Danny swallowed. How does anyone respond to news like that? “I’m so sorry, Tim. How are you holding up? What’s going to happen now?”

“The funeral is in two days. Bruce is organizing it. And I’m going to stay with him, I guess. He said he’d be happy to foster me until my dad gets better.”

“Shit, Tim. Text me during the funeral if you need to.”

“I might take you up on that. You won’t mind?”

“Of course not. Every 5 seconds if you need to.”

“Distract me. What’s going on in your life? I don’t want to think about any of this anymore.”

“Oh, uh, all right. Are you sure?”

“Please, Danny.”

“If you change your mind, interrupt me anytime.” Danny chewed his lip. What on earth could he talk about in response to news like that? The test he had in English last week? That sounded so trite. “I did start karate training with…” he trailed off before he could say his mom. “Anyway, it’s going all right. I’ve basically only been taught basic moves. I only get lessons two or three times a month so it’s slow going.”

Tim’s voice was still shaky, but he seemed to latch onto the topic to Danny’s relief. “You really have to give it your all if you want to succeed. Have you learned the basic stances and things?”

“Some, I think.”

“Hold those positions. Stand in your room and just hold them for ten minutes at a time. And practice the same punch over and over. Even if your m—” Tim’s voice caught and he changed course “—instructor can’t make it. Would you be allowed to sign up for classes? Get something more consistent?”

“We don’t have the money.” Danny bit back the embarrassment he felt at admitting that. Tim was rich-rich and never had to worry about things like bills. “Ghost hunting doesn’t really pay. My parents are at least good engineers so they can fix our own appliances and vehicles. Sometimes dad or mom will fix stuff for the neighbors for some extra money.”

Tim hummed in understanding and didn’t push the issue. “How did they even get into ghosts to begin with?”

“If we ever end up in the same place, you are not allowed to ask that directly to my parents. Don’t mention ghosts at all. They won’t stop talking for hours. As for how they got into it… Dad’s always believed in the supernatural. He could’ve just as easily started tracking big foot or the Loch Ness Monster. But he met mom in university and she was stuck on ghosts. Dragged him in, too. And he’s obsessive. Once he decides on something, that’s it.

“They were both studying the supernatural and had to decide what to focus on for their doctoral research. Mom’s hated ghosts since she was a teenager. Apparently she and a friend were dared to go into a haunted house one Halloween. She doesn’t talk about it much, but her friend died that night. She blames the ghosts and has dedicated her life to hunting them ever since.”

Tim clicked his tongue. “Wow. It almost makes sense with that back story.”

Danny snorted. “Ghosts aren’t real. I dunno what killed her friend, but it wasn’t a ghost. Wish they’d decided to hunt Bigfoot instead.”

“Really? Why do you say that?”

Danny looked out his window and stared at the setting sun. “If they were hunting bigfoot, we’d probably go camping more often. And I like camping. You get the best views of the stars that way.”

“What’s your favorite constellation?”

“That’s like asking who my favorite Star Trek character is! There’s too many to choose. But do you know the folk history of Polaris? It’s why I chose my username.” Danny talked to Tim about the stars and space until Alfred called him away for dinner. They made plans to talk online again later.

Next

Now, I have a question for y'all. I was planning on finishing the entire work then publishing on a once a week basis until finished (or twice a week if I had more chapters than I expect). I've got the first chapter mostly done, just need to rewrite one section and change a few lines elsewhere. I also have the next 1.5 chapters mostly done on a first draft. I could start posting now, but I can't guarantee a posting schedule and I'll probably have to take a hiatus or two as I plan to get a new job and move sometime in the next few months.

So my question, do you want me to post now or wait? It'll probably be several months if not a year before I finish depending on how long I take and how many other projects catch my eye.

i think its probably green or brown and i draw her in like greenish colors pretty often, idk abt the brown

she got more buff fat and tall, and her hair is different now, but her and blue have changed the least out of the band designs tbh. one of the earliest pics i have of her is this band art from 2011, shes obv the tiger in the front (blue is there too! kaisa and malani used to be a single character before i split them into two, and dakota used to be a snow leopard, but thats not important rn lol. dont necessarily take this to imply that blue was originally the guitarist and elle was the singer, cuz i have no idea if 11 year old me just drew them like this for One picture or if that was my original plan. its been a long time i dont remember. lol)

and i have this art of her from sometime in high school (?) which is a lot better to use as a comparison bcuz its a lot more stylized- as u can see her body type is a lot different (i was also just worse at drawing proportionate human bodies back then, i didnt start drawing anthros more than ferals until high school_

FIFI I WAS LITERALLY DOING POWER SCALING ALL THE CANON AFTONS YESTERDAY WITH SOME FRIENDS

Let's say canon is: Silver eyes (Dave Miller), Gameverse (OG William Afton) and FNAF Movie (Steve Raglan)

Steve Raglan literally sweeps.

Because rewatching the Springbonnie scene, the suit sound s HEAVY. You can hear it in his fucking thumps of him walking that thing is very Weighted

HE COULD FULL TILT RUN AT A GROWN MAN AND THROW HIM ACROSS THE FUCKING ROOM. And the way he walks around in the suit like it was nothing just meandering around and circling, taunting Mike like okay?

And not to mentioned he KICKED HIM and it KNOCKED MIKE OUT FOR LIKE A GOOD FEW MINUTES. And the fact he could just take off and toss the mask to the ground one handed, that thing sounds like it has a weight too!

And when he got Springlocked in the movie he DIDN'T just die. Like he didn't just keel over and die he was TANKING that shit. Yeah it hurt A LOT getting stabbed I imagine but he was still a little bit alive at the end scene, managing to bounce his leg from the pain.

And we haven't even see how Remnant-Pilled Raglan could look

Dave gets springlocked three times, and his third time he dies. He gets points for that but he's literally skin and bones. I think a vegetable could kill him

Games Afton gets springlocked once and he dies. Though he is definitely more healthier than Dave was and he also pranced around the Springbonnie suit fit a good bit. Enough for him to at least feel powerful in the suit. But he did only got locked once and dies. And then gets revived as Springtrap.

That's the gist of my argument that Steve Raglan is not only the strongest Afton, but he could demolish the other canon Aftons in a fight. The other two could team up against him and they'd still lose.

*coughs** OKAY. i see what you are saying, and i get it a little bit buttttt ☝️ i actually think steve and games!will are probably pretty evenly matched.

ill start w dave tho, dave miller i think is probably the least capable out of all of them. he does get the point for durability like you said, but that was also years before his Dave Era. he does also get a little point because he can still operate spring bonnie, tho all of them can do that so its like bare minimum lol. i do think dave would most likely have his ass handed to him, theres just no way id believe he could beat himself in his 'prime' so to speak,,

that just leaves games!Afton and mr Raglan.......... i think mentioning how heavy the suit seemed in the movie as a plus for steve doesnt really work because theres no real way to tell if the movie suit is actually more physically taxing to perform in than the games suits. but also historically the fnaf endos have always been really bulky and heavy looking for ex. fnaf 2 endo

and even in springtraps model though heavily damaged the endo underneath still has this type of... whatever yknow?? and lastly theres no meaningful difference between movie spring bonnie and games spring bonnie, theyre both made and used the exact same way so i think that its safer to say that theyre extremely similar if not the exact same.

and about the springlock thing ermm..... chgjhfgj i mean theres obv theres going to be a difference between how the springlocking is portrayed in a 8-bit minigame vs a whole ass film. and i just dont believe there is a like........ like its a bit of a stretch to me if im being honest, to say steve is technically stronger because he Technically Survived longer than games will...... i guess?????? i mean......... im just not convinced. like they both went down pretty fast, and id even argue that games Will had it worse because like when we see him being springlocked and how that was shown then we see springtraps model like his entire head and everything was stabbed/crushed so it actually makes MORE sense for games will to MAYBE go down slightly faster. compared to steves slow and steady wins the race version lmao..... but also in general the springlocking in both are literally like 1 for 1 of each other, like even to the posing its like one of The Things from the movie thats actually pretty accurate to how it was shown exactly in the games. like its silly but if anything steve is probably more of a little bitch than games will cause he was knocked down completely before his face n everything even had the chance to be mashed potatoes. soooo...... 🤷‍♂️ lmao

and thats why i think Steve and Og William are pretty even matched. Dave Miller is probably going down first, but games n movie r cutting it pretty close.. 😳 dare i say games William probably has a better chance at beating Steve even considering The Lore.

and that last bit...... fhghfhgh im SORRY but i have to disagree 100% 🙈 games will could hold steve to a line in which Dave would have an opening to shank his ass and hed be done for, and then games Will could dispatch Dave from there. in my humble onion 🧅

anyway. yeah idk tada my initial thoughts and feelings like only half an hr after seeing the trailer and gameplay.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD okay.

so i watched the 8 hour jack stream(jesus) aka watched genloss top to bottom again and listened to his theories and stuff(i really vibe with the "kidnapped as kids" angle more now) and started thinking about some theories he and chat mentioned and.

now im thinking with like. ok its probably a pretty common theory, this post was what prompted this additional idea of mine actually, but ill explain it a bit: the theory that, since sneeg and charlie can come back over and over again, and they have referenced like, refusing to do the cooking challenge in ep 1, and how charlie was playing the mouse trap but ate the cage, they have obviously done the same kind of scenes we saw ranboo do, right. and then in the Announcement video we see the same kind of "missing poster" type headshots of them, with the caption "Found them!"

i dont remember exactly where it was confirmed that showfall made the missing person posters, but like. yeah. these images are for missing posters like ranboo had. and with sneeg being caught by the security in ep 3, he had tried to escape, just like ranboo and charlie. and i feel like this wasnt the first or last time they have tried this!

also, during that screenshot the announcer says "our hero will meet a cast of crazy characters, who you may recognize", aka the audience has seen these "actors" before in other things! this is their first live show but what have they made before...?

then, with one of the Very first lines Ranboo says in the first episode, "it wasn't supposed to be like this"... showfall/hetch made it seem like this is ranboos first show and he's being tested for how well he does as The Hero.

I dont think what we saw is Ranboos first time starring in a showfall production.

its the first live thing like the announcement video said but i think hetch lied when he talked about how its a test, i think Ranboo's been here at least a few go arounds, if not tens/hundreds/thousands of times. WHICH MEANS in the end when he gets his memories back... theres an infinite amount of possibility of things they could remember for what they have been made to do in the past :) Bc remember, while this is comedy->horror, it was still relatively tame and non-explicit (at least by my personal standards?) so it is quite possible they have been in more R rated horror stuff, slashers, gore, actual saw, some kind of even worse psychological horror things, but also that they might have had incredibly good experiences like love and joy and community and anything positive too, and to remember all that in a rush... oh boy so i believe it is a circular reproduction, maybe they run through scenes repeatedly over and over while perfecting every little detail and getting different takes of genuine emotion but every time Real and a First experience... some kind of purgatory(omg christian hell reference) or endless torture or such...

ok that got really maybe unneccessarily angsty so heres my other thought:

i love me a fucking colour theory and colour symbolism! it bothered me a bit how like. in the promo game we get ranboo, then green friend/the villain(obviously charlie, tho the villain part still confuses me a Bit since its not quite true?), the blue friend/the taken(obvs sneeg) and then the red stranger/the saviour. and like it would logically follow that the red is hetch right?

jack when theorising said the titles are self descriptive, which i buy into, at least for the first episode context, charlie is the villain role, sneeg was taken(put in a cage and later snatched by the sharkciclester), and hetch was trying to help and save ranboo from this situation! but then in the second ep we also have red puzzler, and red niki? i WISH niki had. any kind of bigger role to build a Saviour type off of her but i dont think she does :( the puzzler is an option, since they make it seem like the puzzler tries to save ranboo? and thats actually a whole other thought like. since we know hetch was not actually helping ranboo, was the puzzler Genuinely helping them, and somehow showfall found out and killed him?? idk ANYWAYS that colour coding falling apart a bit made me think about how ranboo is also red!! rgb trio yknow??

if the titles are self descriptive... well i dont think Ranboo really felt like The Hero much, especcially not in the end...

I think Ranboo is actually meant to be the Saviour.

Esp with the jesus coding! I believe this kind of thing has happened many times before, with sneeg/charlie/ranboo/others realizing that shits fucked, and trying to escape, only to be caught and put back in the production. I think Ranboo(main character syndrome) was in a previous iteration the Saviour, who tried to help sneeg and charlie and others get out of there, to save them, save everyone. but they failed. got captured. once again waking up again with a "it wasn't supposed to be like this..."

and so the cycle continues, and the content wheel keeps spinning.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character? He's just so awesome. He's cool. He's a dragon. He's so interesting to me as a character with his dynamics with other people, how much he cares but also how much if his protection of other people is fueled by the lack of care for himself.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character? I really like one of his animations when someone talks him up where he does the little. fixing his collar thing. It's cute to me. Maybe not my favourite thing but idk if I have a favourite thing just a buncha stuff..........

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character? i dont knowwwwwww i think i'll probably end up with story thoughts when i play through more of the games but like. what i know abt Just Him? i dont really have anything i strongly dislike

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in? Apex Legends so he can be a freak with the infinite respawn stuff /j I waunt to put him in a calm setting where he can relax without being put into massive life or death scenarios for a little while. Let him work through some stuff.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them? Baka Mitai bc that was my main exposure to him before I ever thought abt the games themselves DSFGSDF

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? I'm ngl I just love seeing how people draw him in general. Contrasting sharp n angular serious moments with him being somft and caring with people is one of my favourite things.

In person I'm not really that talkative unless the other person really wants to talk, like I don't tend to walk up to people n just start convos unless we're having dedicated hangout time, so I think I'd vibe with him pretty well bc we can do our own thing in the same space or leave each other alone. Or if I am feeling talkative I really don't care if the other person gives responses or not, I am very happy to talk at people DFSGFDS

10. Could you be best friends with this character? Not sure abt best friends mostly bc we have pretty different interests but I def think we could be good friends for similar reasons as above.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? I was abt to say he has the soul of an old man but that's not really a hc he just acts like that already sometimes.

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like? i havent really written him before, ive only written him once and things werent from his pov so idk if i can comment on that atm

I also haven't read a lot of fics for rgg yet so idk if I can really comment on it but. The stuff I've read that you've written with him? I said it already but I REALLY like the way u characterise him and how visceral his feelings are when his interla thoughts are on full display.

They're both tired guys who have a kid to look after that they didn't really expect to have but by god if anyone hurts that kid they will Die. These guys will 100% get themselves killed if it means their kid will be ok. And also Sam pushing other people away bc he's scared of connection compared with Kiryu feeling like he doesn't Deserve things a lotta the time,,,

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now? The first time I ever saw him I'm pretty sure was a pocket circuit gif LMAO so my first impression is 'this guy's a little goofy'.

why people not enjoying the dk scenes? I dont get it at all

I think dk fans are enjoying the scenes or at least the majority are 🤷🏻‍♀️ but i have seen a fair few fans who arent happy or more… are frustrated which I can understand to a degree.

Like, you’ve waited 4 seasons to see your ship actually get somewhere solid and it feels a tad bittersweet since most had likely hoped for an actual relationship by the end of the show which I can’t really fault people for. Like actually seeing dick and kory as a couple but we aren’t going to get that.

It sucks and if anyone has paid attention to my rambles over the years since Titans started, I dipped and dropped several times where I didn’t feel dk were treated as a priority which they should be; a large portion of the titans comics has dickkory at the centre. Obvs its not all it is but it is a pretty big ship within DC and at times it has felt like dk were being pushed aside. I do wish they would have brought this dk loveliness in s4 forward to s3 cos literally no one needed the briefest of rekindling between dick and b*bs like i vented so much when i found that out about s3. It felt so unnecessary and served not really any purpose. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Idk, I can’t speak for others but I do see why people aren’t 100% happy with dickkory but you can’t do anything about it. Me personally, ima take whatever dickkory content i can cos i just love them in any form, media, snippet but i also have zero expectations with Titans and dickkory which has been beneficial. I don’t get disappointed cos I’ve not gone into a season of Titans with any dk expectations since like the start of s2 😂 at this point im just gonna sit quietly in my lil corner and eat up any dickkory scenes and then be done since the show is ending.🤷🏻‍♀️

After that, i shall just go back to any dk content that floats thru the tag. Maybe we’ll get something again at some point. 😭

progress update

1st feb 2024

like i wanted to do this year on every 1st of each month, we have a general progress update, what ive been up to, general stats, plans for the upcoming month, how the last month treated me and how i treated this game. lots of personal detail will happen.

january has been the least productive month yet, im trying to not let it get to me, i had to take lots of breaks, my bed literally broke down on me on the 1st and it took over 2 weeks to get the new bed to me. sleeping on the ground made writing so impossible bcs i got chronic pain flair ups, migraines as well as hip pain. it was agony. i did however cleaned my room and got a new bed and this change of paste was really welcome. now that i finally have an actual desk to write on again, I can look outside my window and watch the squirrels while i write, so beautiful. that does mean i didnt finish chapter 7 which is a bummer, but im trying to stay positive. i did publish part 2 in a more rough than usual state, just bcs i needed it out, i wouldve lost my mind if i didnt update it. I allowed myself to take a break from OS since the last update, bcs even if i didnt actively wrote most of jan, i still thought about OS and beat myself up for not writing. And i had some time to work on other things that I plan for the future, others stories i wanna tell some day (im not starting a new wip bcs i will literally never finish anything if i do), and also just, reading and drawing without thinking about OS too much. It were only a few days, but it was a much needed break, bcs since OS went officially online last May, there wasnt really a day where i didnt think about OS.

stats from Jan: I wrote a total of 8.477 words over the 8 days that i worked on this. That doesnt sound much, but its still about 1k words each day. obv the 8,5k words arent the 20k I set out to do in the beginning of January, but im just happy i did something.

The game is now over 70k words long (including code, i wrote that shit imma count it), i know its not as much as other ppls wips, but damn, it feels crazy to me, knowing i sat down, laptop on my lap (in my bed primarily) and just wrote that much in less than a year.

Plans for feb: for the love of god i need to get chapter 7 done. i also set the goal to 10k, since there are less days in february and i know that i might not get the time to write as i will be job hunting, yay. the goal will be adjusted in march depending on if and what job i get maybe. in general im pretty scared of february and march, bcs i will lose the financial aid and im not sure yet how the fuck will i finance myself, since moving back with my mom is a no. and i refuse to open a kofi or patreon. im very against earning money from my hobby and i hope i dont have to resort to it ever. (personal opinion)

2023 'overview'

The standard end of year post of course!

This year has both breezed by and felt absolutely endless, personally at least, and i feel like i accomplished nothing(!), but still, here's a round up of some stuff i enjoyed!?

MOVIES: as ever as always! I'm writing this a bit in advance, but i've deffo seen less movies this year than i did last year, tho i believe that i did manage to get out to the cinema way more than usual (tho, tbh, most often on my lonesome i think). I think i've felt the most divided on them this year; i liked a lot of stuff very VERY much! i also have felt so SO bored with a lot more things. i think i talked about having like. a matrix moment last year, nothing like that this year, tho a lot more of being like, 'well yeah, of course', or finally being able to recognise what a shot is, lol. Regardless, here are the movies i probably loved the most this year:

aftersun: all i talked about jan thru feb, need to watch it again. it looks great, its both fun & heartbreaking, and you KNOW i love the found footage side of it all - especially when it addresses that even when you have footage of 'objective reality' you just really cant know it all operation avalanche: as w aftersun, this shit gets at like ALL my interests! OpAv isn't a perfect movie, and i think the more u know about the production/etc the more obvious that becomes [i genuinely WOULD love to see/know more about the version that really did have the mole/romance plotline integrated, but lbr, that doesnt really exist]. ANYWAY!! i do think this is such an exciting film to watch, especially the movie making sequences, and i think the feeling of it all comes across so truly iygm. also, obvs, bc i love conspiracies unfortch the dirties: im sorry there's so much MJ on this list, short tho it is! but hey, these really took over my life for a month there lol. i still havent listened to the commentary w the real film critic, but i truly find this to be an airtight movie, the found footage stuff is so well integrated, justifying everything while also calling all intent/'reality' into question.. i do think someone could spend forever with it - its also funny & miserable! what more could u want (watch my fancam please) my house walkthrough: i genuinely just really like this!! ive said it before, but i genuinely just find it such an exciting watch, the bts just makes it so much cooler - what's sicker than repetition Hon Noms: la confidential: heat walked so this could run ! thirst: so much fun, i love vampire lovers who hate each other beau is afraid: too long, but i really liked most of this, v funny black tower: great example of doing smth so cool w very little

sfultra!!!: sean L@TDF finally returns to talk about sci-fi books! sean is one of the few critics i'll always keep up with even when i dont agree w him, & this show has been a real treat all this year - the patreon stuff is great as well - its introduced me to a lot of new stuff & crit, and its been good to hear from him again. if u listen to any of these, listen to this shelved by genre: really good, tho often we have different interests - got me to read a fair few more books this year! im not a games guy, and im mad behind on fatt, so its super nice to get to hear some austin biweekly anyway, lol. twioat (as ever): i was a bit trepidatious about this season starting off, but it's been so much fun, the fellas really knocked it out of the park. i loved hearing from some guests that we havent heard from in ages. this season on AJLT was also fuckin amazing, truly & really adored their coverage; possibly highlight of my summer?? toxic podcast: i almost certainly shouted this out last year, but it was nice to have this around again in the top half of the year!! ale has a letterboxd now & its fun to get to see just how many truly atrocious horror movies he does watch all the time. a true connoisseur

ntbts: its a such good show!! i've watched more tv than usual this year, but i love how this is done on almost every level. i apologised before for having so much MJ on this list & i stand by that!, but i do think that one of the best (practical) traits in his work is making difficult stuff look not only easy, but genuinely both fun & achievable. whens the movie going to drop??? (lol) getting into shirts: this genuinely was more of an accidental year long thing, starting w the ones i printed for lizzie back in jan/feb, but its been fun! finally got back some screenprinting experience, and i think u can really see some amping up of ambition & basic skill/practice. i do wanna do more in the new year, but am trying to engage with actual intended outcomes (and lbr, the storage issue lol), so we'll see

the sopranos!!: sometimes they really were right about good tv being good, who knew! so much funnier, weirder & depressing than i wouldve expected- honestly undersung at this point. also, it introduced me to a tonne of music lol

the blackberry soundtrack: unfortch i continue to be kinda mixed on the film, as much as i think on a technical level it's so super cool & well-made. i do really like the soundtrack tho!! i'm kinda iffy on some of its application in the actual film, but im a hater, so what can u do lol. the actual thing DOES rip tho

also, yeahh, i can understand how the kids can ruin the school. not going to lie, i used to hate my school a lot to the point i would constantly talk about transferring. i merely dislike it now, ive sort of made peace with the fact that this has to be my school for at least one more year before i move…

it was mostly the kids. i was constantly getting teased and im not the best with ridicule. but i dont really hang around those people anymore and just keep to myself so. and i have made a few friends which i am proud of!!

though that isnt exactly the only reason. i just really dislike the principle, staff and school system overall. the only part of the staff i like are probably the afterschool…supervisors??? dunno what to call them. also the lunch ladies are nice. AND THE TEACHERSSSS I ALWAYS GET SO ATTACHED TO THE TEACJER HUT I WILL ADMIT SOME TEACHERS ARE ALSO HORRIBLE!!! like my math teacher!!! she was kind of my whole downfall but i wont get into that. sorry to hear the kids at your schools are jerks though!! it happens at times, really the best thing to do is ignore them. surround yourself with good people and stuff! 

omgg…the lower campus of my school had an auditorium and we were supposed to perform an end of the year play and. GUESS WHAT. IT NEVER HAPPENED???? I HAD ONE OF THE MAIN ROLES TOO. not that i wanted it, because i was an ungrateful brat and i wanted something with a little less lines but i guess it didnt matter in the end. SIGHH.

i'm interested in this noah's hate train/resilience conversation.... because in the past big celeb scandals of hate often were media or press-fuelled, with the public reading/following on. obv the media is there to make money and find readers, but i imagine that something like what happened to britney, where actual businesses were making money out of negatively, publicly portraying her life for years on end... i mean, noah isn't on the front of newstands when i walk into a grocery store, you know? the majority of people suffering from these attacks are people who already about noah; its not national news. which isn't better per se, but it's more targeted and therefore both more damaging and less damaging (for his overall brand/selfhood etc). he's not quite on the world stage in the way that, for example, the royal family are when they're going through shit times. not trying to make it political at all, but in regard to human beings who are suffering from unwanted hate and press, lets be glad that noah isn't on the cover of the new york post or something, yk?

even though attacks on noah are very visceral and immediate, at least its not systemic company-based hate to make money that then fuels random people to join in. most of it is just sad people who are most likely expressing their own self-loathing and disappointment in their lives with hate towards noah through projection or something. its easier than ever (and free) to attack anyone online. you dont need to expend any energy. i bet half these people are just bored on the commute to work or while the toast is cooking, they shoot off a hate tweet over morning coffee then go about their day. it's vile, but it's also interesting to think about what this actually means in terms of: what power do these nobodies actually have though? if you can stay emotionally resilient to it, it's unlikely they have the power to actually ruin his career or life in any tangible way. it's just about accepting that haters gonna hate lol. they're not even being imaginative about it. i mean, comments on his ethnicity and orientation? fucking snore. so passe.

it’s a really interesting topic because the reality is that it’s not like the actual media is out to get him and is digging to find negative stuff about him, they have been just reporting afterwards something happens/is discovered. this particular situation with noah has to do way more with parasocial relationships because i personally saw it all go down and the people that started the hate campaign with viral tweets were his ex stans, they knew exactly where to dig for stuff and reposted it on twitter to get noah cancelled publicly because they (in their words) felt betrayed by his actions, the GA just jumped at it afterwards because it’s a hot topic and the general consensus online is that he’s in the wrong so he should get dragged. after that, you also got to many random accs making also stuff up about noah like him breaking his neck every two days, because they could get easily retweets and likes as hating on noah was an acceptable thing.

right now that certain group of ex stans is not around anymore so everything is more calm at the moment. it has taken (the more reasonable) people a few months to finally look back and see how people treated noah was out of control but the damage is done.

HI. TEXANS. PEOPLE WITHOUT POWER. HERES A BUNCH OF THINGS THAT MIGHT HELP

Via a bunch of people ( @marelicina @paperback-rainbows @chaosofbattle and myself who know some stuff about cold temps)

Have a bunch of water stocked up in big bottles (ONLY USE WHEN POWER IS OUT)

Layers, layers, layers!! It’s been said before but they MATTER. Warm hats, socks and gloves! Multiple layers of everything makes it awkward to walk but It Doesn’t Matter because it’ll keep you warm

Wear scarves, hats, winter coats, and even shoes indoors

Old clothes that are too big are good for later layers

You should sleep in the layers you wear during the day, but you can take off a few layers, as you might get too hot

Minimize the amount of time you’re naked/wearing less clothes

Silky stuff doesn’t hold heat well, it gets cold easy

Being cold with protection and cold without protection is VERY different

If you don’t have neck warmers/bandanas, masks keep your face warm

You lose the most heat from your head, feet, and chest

Minimize surface area by curling into a ball or laying facedown

Sleeping does help preserve warmth, but too much can cause more harm than help

Face, fingers, toes, hands, feet, ears tend to get coldest fastest. Arms and legs take a bit more work to get cold (when covered)

Keep your chest, head, feet, and hands warm (cold hands lose functionality fast)

Please please please keep your hands warm. You do everything with them.

If your fingers/toes go from being freezing to not having any feeling that is FROSTBITE SETTING IN. Warm them up FAST.

Again; fingers, nose and toes get cold fast

Layer your chest as much as possible

Wet hair/skin is BAD. Avoid as much as possible. It makes you 100x colder

Shower less because if you lose power it’ll be BAD

If you get wet: take off the wet clothes IMMEDIATELY. Dry off and put something else on ASAP

Snowy clothes are wet clothes, even if it doesn’t feel like it

If the power is out long-term. Do not shower/bathe. Wipe yourself down really fast with a damp cloth and leave it at that.

Sanitary wipes are much better than showers/baths

Wood flooring is better than tile and stone but not by much

Carpets/having blankets on the ground are/is better than bare flooring

Sitting/laying on the floor is Not Helpful. The floor gets colder faster

Bringing mattresses and cushions into one small room to sit on helps

Heat goes to the top of the room, so having your feet/hands up/off the floor is better

Again: get everyone in the same room. Pets, plants, EVERYONE. The smaller the room, the better. Large rooms are harder to keep heated.

Enclosed/small spaces are warmer

Close your windows. Close the shades and curtains. Heat escapes through windows

Get all the blankets possible in the room you’re all staying in

Clothes too. It’ll make a mess but all else fails, you can use them in a way similar to blankets, or as more layers

HUDDLE TOGETHER FOR WARMTH. You don’t have to be touching (if you’re touch averse) but the closer you are to people, the more heat you share

Keep younger children, the elderly, and pets near the middle of the huddle. They get cold faster

Conserve your energy as much as possible. Cold saps your energy FAST

BUT do move around every once in a while to keep circulation going. The cold will fuck it up.

If you go numb that is BAD. VERY VERY BAD. Move around if you start to go numb. Take care of your circulation

Candles give off a bit of both heat and light, but use them carefully

Battery and solar powered things will help a LOT. Keep them charged

If you get power back for even a short bit, charge portable chargers to use later

Your phone will die so much faster if it gets cold

If you can, turn off bluetooth on your phone, and close all unneeded apps. If you’re not going to be online, turn off your wifi and put it on airplane mode. It’ll conserve battery

If you get power back, make hot drinks and keep them in thermoses

Drinks made in hot dairy will probably give you more energy and warmth rather than just hot water

Holding said thermos will also help keep your hands a bit warmer

The food coolers you’d fill with ice and take to the beach can keep food hot, so you can put food in there to keep it warmer longer.

Peanut butter and bread provides some nutrients and energy and doesn’t require energy to make

Hard to prepare food is Bad. Any food should be easy to make

Having pre-prepared food that you don’t need to heat up is important

Eat the unhealthy boxed meals with a shit ton of calories. Whatever diet you’re on doesn’t matter, you need food. (Allergies don’t count obvs)

If you can make bread, do it. Download a recipe and make sure you have it. It usually requires power, but bread is a good base thing to eat.

If doesn’t have to be loaf bread either!! There are flatbreads that are easier and faster to make

If things have an expiration date, try and eat those first, but make sure you have enough food to last for a while

Canned stuff is good too, especially if you don’t have to heat it up

Eating snow is a HORRIBLE idea. It’s dirty as shit and it’ll make you so much colder.

You can boil it in an emergency, but it’s not reccomended at all

DRIVING ON ICE/SNOW USES A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SKILLSET.

Don’t drive in snow, especially blowing snow. Don’t.

If you absolutely have to drive, at least double the distance between you and cars in front of you.

Be super careful. Don’t get distracted by falling snow. If you can’t see through the snow, PULL OVER. Keep near the shoulder of the road so you can get traction if needed.

Start slowing down before you get near stop signs/traffic lights. Ice tends to build up around them.

Ice can and will fuck your shit up. Google tips on how to survive ice, ESPECIALLY black ice.

Make sure your car doesn’t freeze over. It can really fuck with the internal mechanisms. They do not react well with cold temperatures.

Keep a blanket and flashlight in the back seat of your car, even if you don’t think you’ll need it. You might, and it’s better safe than sorry.

If you are going to drive, do not dress for the car. I do not care how hot you will get in the car, dress for the outside temperatures, because if your car breaks down, you are FUCKED.

If it looks like your power might go out, tell someone, but make sure they don’t come to check on you. Nobody should be leaving their houses.

Direct wind is BAD. Windchill makes everything worse, and can cut through all of your layers.

Morale is important. I know this sucks, and it’s hard to stay positive, but the more down everyone in the house is, the harder it gets to keep staying safe and to have the energy to stay safe

METAL IS BAD. VERY BAD. It gets cold very fast, and your skin can (and will) stick to it.

WET METAL IS EVEN WORSE. That is a guarantee that you’ll get stuck to it.

If you do get stuck to metal, WARM water poured over the area of contact should help you get free.

Putting salt in front of your house will help keep snow/ice off.

If you’re going down/up an icy/steep place, going sideways is good. Always keep one foot on a steady spot.

In general, when moving on ice, move slowly, keep your body low, shuffle or take small steps, and if you have to crawl, fucking crawl.

If you are crawling, DO NOT put your bare hands in the snow. Don’t put bare ANYTHING in the snow.

There is no time for pride to get in the way. If it helps you stay alive and safe, it helps you stay alive and safe.

Snow in shoes is BAD. Always look for the path with the least snow.

Wrapping cloth around your shoes can help you walk on ice/slick surfaces. If you don’t have any winter shoes, this will help.

If you do the above, don’t use things you want to wear. It’ll take forever for it to dry.

im not v good at media analysis but ive had some thoughts bouncing around in my head that i need to outlet somehow so just, bear with me okay lmfao

anyway i think that at least in the first 3 movies death is meant to be synonymous with love, and it drives me batshit insane (affectionate). like ok first there was that post that went around a few years ago that rightfully pointed out that every man elizabeth kissed has both been in love/lust with her and also has died. (i am also including jack in this, because although i dont think they were ever "in love", they're practically obsessed with each other in a strange toxic sort of way that weaponizes affection so it counts lol. i could go on about this too bc it makes me insane too)

not to mention, like, davy jones' entire story being a tragic love story, the man literally cannot die because of calypso... i mean its not that simple obv but from his perspective at least he believes calypso does not return his affection for her even though she DOES, just not in the way he can really anticipate or comprehend. which to me i think means that while death = unrequited love, undeath or coming back to life (like will does as well) is a sign of love that is actually returned

like i could go on but ANYWAY, this all in mind, the fact that jack and barbossa then are both responsible for not only killing each other but that barbossa led the charge to bring jack back to life is crazy like?????? are we seeing this

I might personally not go so far as to say they're synonymous but I'd absolutely agree that they go hand in hand, like it's sort of hard at least for me to draw direct symbolic parallels but so much of the death we see is definitely tied super closely to love just like you say!! the elizabeth thing is like an observed phenomenon and I esp find it interesting that the captain of the dutchman curse has this strong connection to love where I'd argue love is sirt of what's supposed to keep the captain tied to the mortal world in a sense?? also really neat that barbossa's curse has the "I feel nothing" aspect to it in combination with the unable to die, as well as love and death having a certain connection in media like historically there's really so much to be done with this concept so I'd love to hear more from you regarding it!! I like just woke up so sorry for rambling but anon you say you're no good w media analysis and I just wanna take this moment to say that a) you obviously have a sense for it and b) this is how you get better at it like do exactly this find a reoccurring motif and inspect it, see where it leads you!! I really value media literacy and I'd argue it's definitely a learned skill so I just wanna like encourage you and anyone who reads this who might find analysis a bit daunting to give it a shot. I think potc especially is really good as a starting point if you wanna get into it because it's not The most complex thing in the world like it's still a kids movie but it does have a lot of stuff going on without it being like overwhelming I guess the word is???
