It's been years of watching Dean and Cas dance around their feelings and at this point, Sam's losing hope that they'll ever take that step and talk things out already. One well-placed spell from Rowena makes Dean and Cas incapable of not talking, but even that doesn't get them together. Will Sam ever be able to help the morons he's forced to live with get together already, or is he destined for a life of perpetually being stuck between them as some sort of bizarre marriage counselor that neither seems aware the other also talks to?

"It's just so painful," he laments a few days later to Rowena, both more than a little drunk in the Bunker's library, Dean and Cas having already gone to bed (unfortunately in different rooms). "They're just…so obvious to everyone except each other. How don't they realize?"

"Noo, why should they? It's not like all of Heaven and Hell figured it out before them or anything."

"I just don't get it. I mean, Dean's eyes are always practically glued to Cas' eyes or lips or his butt and he still hasn't picked up on the fact that there might be something a little weird about that if they really were 'just friends'?" Sam's drink sloshes violently in his glass as he gestures around the room, agitated. "Cas only gets an excuse because he hasn't even been on Earth for a decade, but somebody as old as him should probably at least have an idea what all those feelings are, right?"

"Aye, the poor dears don't have a brain cell between them when it comes to matters of the heart, it seems," Rowena says sagely. "They can be more than a little daft when something doesn't involve killing or dying or crying…"

"They're so hopeless," Sam agrees miserably, burying his face in his hands to rub at his forehead and push his hair behind his ears. "I have to live with them so it's just constant. I-I don't know what to do anymore."

Rowena's quiet for a long moment before she hums to herself. "There might be some way to get their heads out from within their tushies…"

He looks up at that, though judging by the twinkle in the witch's eye, he's gonna regret listening. "What do you mean?" he asks warily anyway, blaming the alcohol for him even considering…whatever it is Rowena is going to suggest.

"Well, all it takes is a wee spell or two and those two will be singing like canaries."

"About their disgustingly sappy love for each other?" Sam guesses, but the witch just smirks.

"About everything. Anything that comes to mind." Sam stares at her blankly, but Rowena doesn't seem to notice. "Oh, I imagine it wouldn't be more than but a few days before certain thoughts come out and certain feelings are revealed…"

"Rowena…"

"Don't tell me you've changed your mind? It's not like there are all that many ways to get those two to sit down and talk about their feelings, Samuel."

Sam considers it, his drunken mind unable to see why this might be a bad idea beyond Dean getting pissed off. Then again, Dean gets pissed if he sees something green on his plate, so Sam's not all that concerned. "What's the cure?"

Rowena's smirk widens, nearly splitting her face in two. "True love's kiss."

I just love the idea that Cas and Dean actually manage to be sneaky in the beginning of their relationship, keeping it secret not because they don’t trust Sam or are ashamed but because they need to feel solid in it themselves before they tell anyone. So they’ve actually done a spectacular job of keeping quiet and not getting caught.

And then one day Cas and Dean are sitting at the table in the bunker kitchen, half asleep while Cas sips coffee and Dean munches halfheartedly on soggy cereal, when Sam comes back from his morning run.

“There you guys are!” He says as he pulls his headphones out of his ears. “I’ve been waiting for you to get up!”

“Why?” Dean asks, dropping his spoon into his bowl and splashing a little milk over the side. “You find us a case?”

Sam shakes his head as he heads to the fridge for a bottle of water. “I think there’s something wrong with the bunker.”

“What kind of something?” Dean asks, casting a curious glance around.

The bunker had seemed fine to him. Nothing strange had happened. No weird noises, no strange smells, nothing creepy or daunting that was outside of the ordinary as far as living completely underground went.

“Well, the lights have been acting weird.” Sam begins, thinking. “And the electricity will just randomly short out. It’s like all the fuses blow at once, or something, even when nothing has changed.”

Dean, still half asleep and only a few sips into his own coffee, doesn’t immediately make the connection. But Cas seems to go incredibly still across the table from him.

“Huh.” Dean says, pushing his bowl away and reaching for his mug. “I haven’t seen any of that. When is this happening?”

Dean still hasn’t pieced it together, but Cas is sending him a solid, desperate stare over the rim of his own mug. Dean’s mind is trying to kick on, to figure it out, and then Sam says—

“Well, most recently was last night. You were already in bed. And Cas— I don’t know where you were.”

And oh. Oh. Dean understands now.

Because yeah, he had been in bed last night. It just so happens that Cas had been in his bed, too. And they were— busy, but sleeping isn’t exactly what they were doing.

Dean purposely does not meet Cas’s gaze.

“Weird.” Dean says with a shrug that he hopes is nonchalant.

“Yeah,” Cas finally manages to agree, his fingers tight around his mug. “That is strange, I haven’t noticed it, either. We’ll have to keep an eye out for it and address it if it’s an electrical issue.”

Sam, beautiful, sweet Sam, doesn’t seem to notice anything amiss. He shrugs. “Yeah, just let me know if you notice it. Maybe it’s just a weird fluke.”

And it will be awhile yet before Sam understands why this only happens when he’s alone in the bunker at night, why it never happens when Dean and Cas stay up with him to the early hours of the morning to research. Sam will live confused but peacefully oblivious for as long as they can all get away with.

Sam’s college friends definitely thought he used to be in an abusive relationship with an older guy when he was in high school! One night after a couple beers and a really bad story of the guy threatening to lock Sam in the basement if he tried to go to prom, one of Sam’s friends was like “dude I’m so glad you got out of that toxic relationship, I can’t believe you dated someone like that!!” and Sam was just like “Dated?” “I’m talking about my older brother silly DUH!!”

Really Random but cute Sabriel headcanon.

Sam and Gabe are literally in sync, like they somehow always think and act the same as each other without realising it. There have been many times where Sam has been explaining a plan for a hunt or whatever and him and Gabriel say the same thing at the same time. Usually Sam will just get a little flustered and cough and move on, but Gabe usually points this out by saying “Jinx you owe me a coke!” Or “Great minds think a like.” So even though this happens a lot Sam and Gabe are oblivious to how much this happens. Another example, Gabe will be feeling a little antsy and want to go on a walk outside and maybe grab some food, so he gets up and heads towards the bunkers exit only to find Sam there as well intending of doing the same thing. So they go together. They walk instead of taking a car both wanting to ‘Enjoy to scenery’ and when they get to the nearest restaurant or diner they both get the same order of food (that either being salad to which Gabriel will say “Just felt like a little extra green” with a shrug or they order something sweet to which Sam will say “It just sounded really good”) and afterwards they both coincidentally take some extra time to stay in town and look around some of the shops and share stories with each other.

But they’re not trying to be the same on purpose, like I said they’re both oblivious that they same the same thing, and think the same ideas, and do the same actions somehow always being so in sync.

Maybe Dean and Cas would eventually point this out to Sam and Gabe, but they will be all like “C’mon Dean/Cas, your over exaggerating, sure we might jinx each other sometimes but it’s not that common🙄” And Dean and Cas are just left to endure that night as Sam and Gabe move perfectly around each other in the kitchen making dinner and repeat the phrase “I was just thinking the same thing!” 12x and day.

Imagine a jealous/protective/offended Dean all in one cos that’s his baby brother, that’s HIS Sam, but also is he not hot enough for these men to flirt with or smth? He is channeling all his willpower not to punch these men the moment they open their mouths but also the urge to slap Sa in the face cos hello??? U can tell when someone is a ghoul but u cant see these dogs sniffing u like theyre gonna claim territory? (HES DEANS TERRITORY GDI)

also a silent guardian Castiel who doesn’t really know much about humans and their flirting but he can sense that some of these men approach Sam with not so good intentions and all he knows is that he doesn’t like that for Sam.

a Bobby who was worried that Dean would get these kinds of attention cos of his more attractive face but found out his personality is a men repellent all on it’s own. He didnt expect that with that, Sam was the next target cos apparently, people dig the awkward nerd guy (also that Sam is a polite guy)

John who had to actually punch so,e fellow hunters for making suggestive commemts on his youngest (he didnt imagine hed have this problem with Sam too. Dean also had passing commemts anout him before but most of these sick fucks dont like his rough and wild machoness) Sam is more docile but ever since puberty and sprouting up like a tree, he had gotton imto more bar fights in a year than all his life hunting. He swears to Mary that if he hears one more thing about his sons legs, he will drop the no human killing rule.

Really, Dean needs to give him more credit. He knows flirting when he sees it. It’s just that… men are just so easy to fool. Just act nice and clueless and theyll do all the heavy lifting for him. He probably got more info out of those kinds of men than normal witnesses or people. If they getout of line then he can take care of it himself (he doesnt need to when u have the worlds greatest best hunters and a literal celestial being as ur guard dogs)

the tfw dynamics with jack are so interesting to me because like. the most destiel “proof” (so to say) we get is from the concept that jack has of dean being his dad. and this stems from cas being his dad, and whatever their relationship is just being so horribly obvious that jack assumes they’re together and treats dean like a father figure.

and yet!! the kicker!! is that sam and cas are jack’s parents!! dean wants nothing to do with raising that kid but still ends up roped into it somehow.

the siren absolutely didn’t have to say “i gave him what he needed. and it wasn’t some bitch in a g-string. it was you. a little brother that looked up to him” in such seductive voice and he definitely didn’t have to lick his lips while saying these words. it was the most erotically-charged scene on the whole show and this is exactly what convinced me that dean was obsessed with his brotherwife in a not-so-brotherly way. also the writers were insane for once again directly paralleling sam to a woman aka the wife who was killed by her husband. rip sigmund freud you would have loved 4.14 sex & violence
