Stane: are you sure making a deal with dracula is a smart move?
Howard: *holding a baby tony* yes, he'll like the youth blood and he will help us with a favor
Stane: alright
[They were terribly wrong, so wrong]
Dracula: *drinking warm blood reading tony a story by a fireplace* and all the villagers perished under my will
Tony, 7: why did they mess with you?
Dracula: because Anthony they thought I was taking and consuming their women, the ladies of the village ran from there
Tony: oooh *look at the mantel place* like my other dad wife did to him?
Dracula: you my son, are so smart, yes *picks him up* let feed the lamprey
Tony: can I put the fish!

Anyway Im3 was fucking right in not having the mandarin be the legit villain of the film because it was 2013 and having Tony Stark, a rich white American billionaire, have his biggest enemy at the end of his trilogy be "Asia all along" sucks ass. im1 and im2 had asian enemies in it (the "ten rings" in Afghanistan and Vanko, respectively) but they were ultimately about rich people (and usually rich white people) being terrible. Which, in my opinion, was the better option.
In im1 and im2, the main antagonists that pull the plot along are other rich white billionaires who throw money at their problem (Tony) with unethical rich person means. (Hammer hires Vanko with the intention of using him as a way to get to Tony because he's petty as well as using him to further his own military business by selling Vankos inventions under his name) (Stane makes shady deals and puts Tony's weapons up on the black market (which, by the way, what happened to Wanda and Pietro was either a result of Stane's shady deals that Tony was unaware of (Tony was also almost blown up by a Stark branded missile! That he DEFINITELY did not sell! He made the arc reactor so that the shrapnel in his heart wouldn't tear it to shreds!), or US military shittyness, something that Tony was uneducated on, learned about, and immediately, as in literally the second he could, when he was literally supposed to still be in a wheelchair, called a in-person press conference and shut down his weapons program, and immediately became one of the most anti-military characters in the MCU (like in the avengers, when he got real angry about being referred to as soldiers).
Killian isn't a good character, he's doesn't have a particular compelling origin story and wasting the foundation of AIM in the MCU on him sucks. Yes. But he's the last in the list of Iron Man villains that make sense in terms of Tony's personal turning over a new leaf. Stane and Hammer (and Vanko to a degree) are exaggerated versions of Tony's own personal flaws, the things he has to keep in check about HIMSELF. And in that sense, Killian is too. Killian is, if looking in a mirror, an exaggerated version of Tony's desire to be acknowledged and accepted by the people he loves, not being able to take rejection well, and being a risk taker, blown out of proportion. (Tony does deeply crave the affection of those he loves but he doesn't think he naturally deserves it. And while he can be reckless it typically starts and ends with himself. The very last thing Tony would do is, say, start human experimentation (on anyone besides himself) on something known to be dangerous). Killian is impulsive, vindictive, dismissive, self-centered and incapable of reflecting on himself in a meaningful way (basically just any "nice guy" guy on Twitter). He got so butthurt about a single night he dedicated the rest of his life to trying to get back at Tony about it (REAL big "nice guy" on Twitter vibes). He's not well written, he's not even that fun. What makes him interesting, though, is that Tony was kinda all of those things too. (Before his time spent with Yinsen, before Iron Man, before the Avengers).
Tony has never been as bad a Stane, or Hammer, or Killian. But thematically their characters are all "this bad thing about Tony pre-Afghanistan taken 12 steps further."
I don't know I'm just saying in my opinion I think it was better for Tony's main villains to be exaggerated caricatures of himself over using the Mandarin. And that they were right to save a character like the real Mandarin for Shang-Chi where they could be explored and used narratively in a proper manner.

Transgender Tony Stark Masterlist
Anthony and Natasha (ao3) - TheCityLightShow steve/tony, mentioned sam/bucky G, 4k
Summary: On Steve's sixteenth birthday, as was the norm, he woke up with a name on his wrist, etched beautifully into his skin. In blocky, scruffy handwriting now sat “Natasha Stark” on his left wrist.
It was elegant handwriting, but not in a way that anyone other than Steve would share the notion.
Now, he's out of the ice, and he lifts his wrist to his face as his vision swims for a second. Oh thank god, he thinks at the sight of the black blur that mars his wrist, and then his thought processes stutter and screech to halt because it's changed.
The handwriting is still the blocky scruffy script that he loves, that holds comfort for him in the cross of the t and the arc of the r, but it's not Natasha. It doesn't say Natasha Stark any more.
No, the name on his wrist is Anthony Stark.
This time – this new time, Director Fury explains to him, this time sixty seven years in the future – this time he will find him. Whether they're ninety like he should be, or closer to his actual age, Steve won't make the same mistake twice.
He doesn't tell SHIELD that the name in their file is now wrong.
Antoniette (ao3) - sleepingnerd T, 1k
Summary: Tony Stark, who is born under the name of Antoniette Stark.
Authenticity (ao3) - On_Every_Spectrum clint/tony, clint/phil T, 5k
Summary: "Howard wasn't ever going to win father of the year in anyone's book. Including his own child's. He was more interested in the image of having a son than, you know, his actual son. So, Tony figured he better thank his lucky stars that it was a son that Howard had so desperately wanted. A son he'd longed for."
by the light of your soul (ao3) - viklikesfic (v_angelique) bucky/tony E, 5k
Summary: “I’m forty-two,” Tony turns to lean back against the counter and gestures vaguely up and down his body as he takes a sip. “Odds are pretty low, Cap.” He doesn’t add that it would be a nightmare if he did have a soulmate, because they’d likely be attracted to the wrong version of himself, to the wrong gender, and Tony is not willing to have that conversation. He’s the most famous trans man in the world. He transitioned soon after Howard and Maria died, relieved that no one had given him that spark, trapped in a body that never felt like it fully belonged to him. He then spent the next sixteen years focused on making superior weapons technology and trying to convince Obidiah Stane to respect him. He hates himself for that.
He won’t play girl for his soulmate. He’d sooner die.
Cashmere, Cologne, and White Sunshine (ao3) - Anonymous rhodey/tony E, 5k
Summary: Rhodey takes Tony home one night after a party, and it's the first time they have sex, and it's Tony's first time with a guy, and it's the first time he tells somebody that he's a guy.
(To Rhodey's credit, this is not exactly news.)
Challenging Authority (ao3) - rocknrollout steve/tony T, 9k
Summary: On May 29th, Maria Stark went into labor. The baby was perfectly healthy and after 5.3 hours, the doctor was able to hold up a bright red, wriggling baby and announce that Howard and Maria Stark now had a perfect baby girl.
That was when problems started to arise.
Error Not Found (ao3) - dirty_spidy G, 2k
Summary: Tony didn’t really care when he heard her name for the first time. It is a common name after all, and it’s not even the same name exactly - just another variation of it. He decided to ignore it, for the sake of his sanity. Even if his heart stopped for a moment.
Heroes are Made (ao3) - periwinklepromise background clint/natasha T, 2k
Summary: “Team,” Tony announces in his usual, grandiose manner, “May I introduce you to myself?”
No Offense (ao3) - orphan_account pepper/natasha, sam/bucky, bruce/thor, steve/tony T, 3k
Summary: Tony thought that with going to this new school he wouldn't have to be worried about being deadnamed, boy, was he wrong. He does find some fantastic new friends though.
Not Merely a Mistake (ao3) - hollyandvice (hiasobi_writes) T, 1k
Summary: When Tony pushes the limits of his health a little too far, Steve learns a secret Tony has kept close to the chest for too long.
Oh, Kiddo (ao3) - Nickies_Nonsense G, 2k
Summary: Peter Parker is experiencing intense gender dysphoria and thinks no one will understand - but Tony does, very much.
Shave You Smooth (ao3) - Willowe T, 1k
Summary: Howard never said as much, but Tony knows he always wanted a son.
Stained (ao3) - Ironstrange3000 tony/stephen T, 2k
Summary: Tony Stark has lived stealth all his life, and thought he'd live out his life without anyone knowing how he was born. But as it was proven to him time and time again, the past always finds ways to haunt us.
When he's outed to the world on the same day his period makes a re-appearance, how will he face Stephen?
Stiletto Heart (ao3) - lusilly G, 2k
Summary: In which Tony, before his first public appearance after the removal of the arc reactor, reflects on surgeries, dysphoria, and how fucking good he looks in these heels.
'Tony' Isn't Short for Anthony (ao3) - bankslucius57gmailcom G, 1k
Summary: Toni isn't short for Anthony. It was never short for Anthony. Toni isn't short for anything.
Slow day at the headquarters.
Nail polish.

Ultimate Spider-Man #5 Discussion
If you have not read Ultimate Spider-Man #5 then please do not read this. I’ll be spoiling a lot in this discussion. I think this title is so worth your time and money so go read it for yourself if you can.
Tumblr media
So, this issue is all about Harry Osborn and how he became the Green Goblin of this Ultimate Universe. I really like character focused stories like this where we see another person’s point of view besides Peter’s because it shows a lot of the stuff our main character doesn’t know and opens/expands the story of this universe a bit more. The first person we see in this issue, however, is Norman Osborn:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know I keep forgetting that Norman has always been kind of an asshole even though he’s not the Green Goblin. Like the things he says to Harry in this issue is just so shitty and I’m glad that this Harry does not let it bother him because Norman was really laying it on thick with the strict/asshole father routine. What I like about the beginning of this issue though is we finally see a first person view of the accident that Tony caused in the Ultimate Universe One Shot last year. We even see the laser on top of Norman’s head a couple of panels before we actually see the explosion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve always wanted to see someone’s first person point of view of this explosion because in the Ultimate Universe One Shot from last year, we just saw the aftermath of it. By showing us Harry’s point of view during this explosion, we see firsthand how his world got changed by this event and also his motivations in wanting to become the Green Goblin. This explosion is the event that starts to show Harry that this world is not right. After this we see him inherit his father’s company, we see a lot of the problems and connections that company entails. For example, Kingpin is now more interested in Harry because he’s the sole beneficiary and owner of Oscorp after his father’s death:
Tumblr media
Kingpin wants to sell Obidiah Stane and Howard Stark’s company, Stane/Stark Industries, to Harry because he wants to find out what Howard knew of this world exactly. Kingpin doesn’t feel confident enough that he can find that out himself so he’s selling the company to Harry because he would be interested in the company that supposedly had something to do with the death of his parents and he would have the know-how to dig into Howard’s company and personal files. What I like about this is that Kingpin ultimately makes himself another enemy because what Harry finds out is the world is run by bad people like the Kingpin and that Stane nor any of the Starks are responsible for his parents’ deaths. However, the people he now associates with the death of his parents are the people that Kingpin associates himself with, so he’s going to stop at nothing to make sure that these people are stopped. We’ve been seeing that for the past few issues as well; we’ve been seeing the Green Goblin attack the Kingpin’s businesses and hideouts throughout this whole run so far.
This comic also shows that Harry did not get his Green Goblin costume from Tony but something he made himself. I wonder if the reason why Harry didn’t have a “stolen destiny” or a trinket taken away by the Maker is because Peter never became Spider-Man in this universe. That’s why he wasn’t on Tony’s list of people to give the gift of powers/destiny to. Like anybody that is closely tied to Spider-Man never had the tragedy or the event that would turn them into the villains/heroes they were meant to be. The Maker, by taking the abilities/powers of certain would-be-heroes, effectively also took away the rise of certain heroes AND villains. Tony only knows that certain people were important to the Maker because he found the containers where the Maker kept his trophies. He doesn’t really know the full extent of who the Maker stole those destinies from. That’s why you saw Tony giving the Shocker Gauntlets to someone this issue:
Tumblr media
Tony doesn’t really know if this person will be a villain or hero. He just knows that the Maker did not want them to have these abilities. Also, I’m guessing the person we see that dies when Tony gives them the Gauntlet is Herman Schultz. Did he die of a heart attack by the way? Like did Herman die of shock when he saw Tony just appearing in front of him?? If so, then that’s another massive oversight by Tony Stark. I haven’t read The Ultimates #1 yet while I’m finishing this discussion up, but I’m really interested in how they’re going to try to set this world right because right now it feels like the odds are so stacked against them and that they’re this group of misfits and outcasts that don’t really know what they’re doing so far.
Speaking of stolen destinies, we see Otto Octavius this issue. He’s just a scientist that works for Oscorp in this universe; he doesn’t seem to be working with metallic arms like his main universe counterpart, so I’m not really sure if he’s still going to be Doc Ock in this universe as well. Are we going to see Tony give him the metal tentacles or, like Harry, would this research into Stane/Stark Industries further push him into the superhero/supervillain world? Also, I noticed that in his design in this book, he looks less like the normal Otto Octavius that we normally see, but looks more like an older version of 60’s Peter Parker and even looks more like Otto in Peter’s body as the Superior Spider-Man. Is Hickman hinting that Otto in this universe would also be an anti-hero like Harry is? Would Doctor Octopus even exist in this world? I’m super excited to see what happens in this story but we probably won’t know about any of that for another year or two.
Otto in this Issue:
Tumblr media
60’s Peter Parker (From Amazing Spider-Man #1):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otto as Superior Spider-Man [From Superior Spider-Man (2018) #1]:
Tumblr media
Regular Otto/Doctor Octopus [From Superior Spider-Man (2018) #12]:
Tumblr media
We also see in this issue that Harry has taken Bullseye captive after their fight in issue 3:
Tumblr media
I’m actually not sure if Harry tortured this man or if he’s just locked him up here so that harry can ask him what he knows but either way it feels like Harry, throughout the series, is shown as somebody that is not afraid to break the rules and maybe even do some awful things just to get to the real villains of this universe. I feel like this can turn him into a villain at some point as well. Although, I have been saying that I feel like the Spider-Man and Green Goblin of this universe are going to have a Daredevil and Punisher like relationship where Peter is going to try so much to do everything by the book and Harry will do everything to get to his goal, even if it means hurting and killing people. Also, there’s a line Bullseye says in this page that gets me worried for both Peter and Harry in the future:
Tumblr media
I feel like Peter and Harry don’t really know the full extent of what they’re up against. They’re trying to fight an organization that has been involved in running the whole WORLD and I feel like they don’t take that enough into consideration. Both Peter and Harry have families that this world cabal can destroy and kill. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but this is a Spider-Man story, and Spider-Man stories can be very tragic.
There’s a scene in this issue that kind of bugs me and I’ve talked about it before and it’s the scene where Harry and Peter are in the bar; Harry asks Peter why he thinks Stark picked him and he replies that:
“He said I was supposed to be someone else. Have a different life. Which was stolen from me by the people you’re talking about. I’m guessing… He said I was supposed to be a hero. And as soon as he said it… I knew it. In my bones.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really like this line and it shows that Peter has always felt that something was missing in his life and that he was supposed to be somebody else: a hero. However, this line bugs me because I don’t think it’s a good enough motivation to continue wanting to be Spider-Man. Yes, I think it’s a good enough reason to START being Spider-Man, but this hero life has so much danger and tragedy that I don’t think it’s a good enough motivation to CONTINUE this life. Tell me if I’m being overly critical here but I don’t think this version of Peter Parker has enough motivation to want to be a true hero. Yes, you could say that the death of Aunt May gives him a better motive, but we haven’t really talked about that much since the first issue. You could even say that he wants to be Spider-Man because of his family, in fact, I’ve said that in the issue 3 discussion for this title that Mayday gave him more motivation to want to continue being Spider-Man. However, I want those motivations to be presented more in the book. I feel like this book for me has to juggle a lot of ideas to show me that this Peter is ready to do what it takes to be a hero and be Spider-Man. If he has more motive like Aunt May’s passing, I would like to see that more on the page and explored more. I also understand that his motivation could be him seeing the wrongs and the evils of this world and him wanting to change that now that he has the powers to do so, but I really want more focus on that in the page rather than through dialogue. If I’m being too harsh then definitely let me know because it’s just something that bugs me.
Also, I’ve read issue 6 in the middle of writing this discussion, so I’ll be talking more about the motivations of this Spider-Man in that next discussion. The only reason why I didn’t put issue 5 and issue 6’s discussion together is because I already started writing this one when I read issue 6 and this would be a way longer discussion if I did. Also, I kind of want to do an End of Arc summary for that next discussion.
Anyways, thank you for reading my discussion on this issue. I’m sorry if I’m kind of all over the place in this one. I’ve been writing this discussion in an 85-degree room and the heat is certainly affecting my ability to write coherently. I’m hoping to get three more discussions by the end of next week, so look out for those if you read these. Let me know if I’m being too harsh on this Spider-Man’s motivations or not. I feel like I am but at the same time it genuinely kind of bugs me and I wish Hickman would show more of Peter’s wants and goals as Spider-Man because right now it still feels like he’s still just trying it on. Like he hasn’t decided whether he truly wants to be this or not. Also, I’d love to know your thoughts on Harry and if you think he’ll be a villain or not in this universe. I’d really love to know what you guys think. Thank you again for reading this I hope you all have a good day.

hello
i have come to approach you with a request
Robin Hood w/ Marvel- except it’s not Steve as Robin… it’s Pepper Potts??? And Tony as Maid Marian???? Which leave Happy as Friar Tuck, Obidiah Stane as the Sherriff, Rhodey as Marian’s Lady in Waiting, and Peter as Little John???
That's a tall order and I like it, but would you want that in Chapters (Like SCH), a school essay (Like the ones we wrote last year), or a short story (a slightly longer Tumblr one shot)?

During this battle, Charles Xavier forbids the X-men from intervening as SHIELD has looked the other way when it comes to mutant activity and is concerned that should they become involved and allow the general public see their powers, they will not be looked at favorably. This causes rifts in the X-Men as well as mutant kind in general.

Bodysuit weaponry is heavily monitored and is strictly forbidden except for the permission granted by the US military.
SHIELD is effectively shut down due to their involvement with Ultron and metahumans. The DODC takes up the duties of enforcing the Registration laws and absorbs many of the former SHIELD agents.
The Metahuman Advisory Council or MAC is formed after the legislation passes as a way to give insight to Congress about metahuman rights and abilities. The original members of MAC include Charles Xavier, Reed Richards, Steve Rogers, Hank McCoy, and Emma Frost.
On the other side of the world on Genosha, the Metahuman Alliance of the State of Humanity (MASH) is formed spearheaded by Erik Lehnsherr with other members including Warren Worthington III, Amara Aquilla, Sebastian Shaw, and the unlikely appearance of Natasha Romanoff.
Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm return from space after being hit with a cosmic storm. Their spacecraft crashes, and the four are picked up by the DODC for further studies. Victor von Doom is assumed dead, but a body was ever recovered.
2022 - On top of congressional and military restrictions on the use of metahuman powers, registration laws are passed requiring minors to be registered. Charles Xavier offers to take on the mutants whose abilities are considered dangerous, making the executive decision that all mutants living on in the Institute will register without complaint. Tension mounts amongst its residents and the remaining X-Men.
Natasha Romanoff finds Yelena Belova. She manages to deprogram Yelena. They are the only two living widows outside of General Dreykov’s direct control.
2023 - Justin Hammer and Aldrich Killian have joined forces to create weaponry for the DODC to use against metahumans. There have been whispers that one of them is building on Trask’s old work on the Sentinel program. Those whispers also include William Stryker’s name.
Scott Summers has left the X-Men and moved to Genosha to create his own group of X-Men for those not interested in following Charles Xavier blindly. Jean Grey has stepped up to run the Institute while Charles works with Congress.
The Avengers are currently in shambles with some for the Registration laws and others vehemently against.
Illegal street teams are starting up, people are fighting back against the Registration laws even though to be caught would mean being branded as a metahuman.

Despite the constant noise of the moving machines and the blaring music Tony preferred in his lab, there was a silence surrounding you. It wasn’t unusual for you to join Tony when he was working but today you hesitated in the doorway. You knew you needed to talk to him, finally ready to bear your secrets, but he looked happy, content. You didn’t want to ruin it, ruin what you had together. You could admit it now, even if it was just to yourself, but you loved the ridiculous man currently threatening to donate his robot son to the local community college — and so you knew that it was time for your secrets to become his secrets.
You don’t know how long you stood in the doorway of his lab cradling a manilla folder that summarized your life but eventually Tony caught sight of you from the corner of his eyes. With a sharp gesture, the music cut out and your ears rang with the echoes of it screaming about the highway to hell.
“Hey babe,” Tony motioned you to come closer and you started to move without thought. When you finally stood in front of him, you lifted yourself up to the table he was sitting in front of, allowing your legs to part enough that he settled between your thighs. He laid his arms across your knees and placed his chin on them, simply content to stare up at you.
You put down the folder of paperwork next to you and let your fingers comb through his hair, calming your nerves. It was against your training to get nervous of course, but you had found that Tony prompted the most unusual responses from you. His eyes started to slip shut, the silence and lack of movement and your peaceful presence moving him towards sleep.
“I need to tell you something,” you broke the quiet, carefully not moving from your spot, and working to keep your tone soothing and even. You licked your lips to buy some time when Tony opened his eyes to peer up at you again. “I need to tell you something…and I don’t know how you’re going to react.”
“…babe?” He sounded concerned, his back straightening out — slipping away from you, your hands falling from his head and hair.
You couldn’t think of trying to force the words out, trying to untwist the awful story and all the lies, forcing out all the atrocities you’d committed, you handed him the thick manilla folder. You knew the story that it told, from the very beginning to the last past. You had lived it, after all.
Instead of watching him flip through the pages, taking in the information faster than you could imagine, you watched him. The Red Room had trained you extensively in reading body language and Tony’s was nearly as familiar to you as your own was. His poker face, though, was a thing of legends. You knew when he got to the notes on all the experimentations and procedures that had been performed on you. You saw when he got to the pages listing out your confirmed kills.
And you saw when his heart cracked apart when he got to the last mission in the folder — Tony Stark, Honeypot.
His eyes fluttered shut and stayed that way as he took several deep breaths, centering himself again as he slotted all the new information into place.
When he opened his eyes again and looked at you, you almost cried because of the ice in his gaze. Instead, you just nodded to the still open file. He wasn’t done with your history yet and you weren’t going to move until he did.
You weren’t the only one keeping secrets from him and you thought he might want to know that his godfather, Obidiah Stane, was the one who bought your services to seduce and eventually kill him.

Ultimate Invasion #2
Hey look Ultimate Red is on the cover
Tumblr media
Is he in the book? Spoiler: yes, but not much
So quick recap, sorta, from Maker about how he didn’t actually recreate the Ultimate Universe. He instead found another universe and started tweaking it to his liking. No Spidey, no Fantastic Four, Howard Stark and Obidiah Stane are basically Tony and Rhodey; the verse naturally lacked a Steve Rogers though.
Anywhos, we focus on Stark and Stane mostly; Tony seems to be a teenager? And Jarvis is a woman. Stane drags Howard to Maker’s magic city orb, because it’s Willy Wonka owning the factory day, compete with a red carpet. There we also learn that the Hulk is Buddha, all the various Hand factions seem to have merged
Tumblr media
And Arkady is part of the Rasputin family??? Uh…huh…I am confused and intrigued
But enough of that! Maker looks up to sky waiting…
Tumblr media
For an army of Avenger clones to attack??
Fight scene ensues. Stane is killed. Stark wakes up in Maker’s lab with the clone army behind bars. He claims the clones are from the future, but are made from various peoples (like the clone him he made from the mercs last issue) so he executes all the seeder peoples, which makes the clone army melt. (I’m betting he sent the clone army, just saying). Then shows Stark his time machine and that half his head is gone; claims this is the second clone army attack and that he thinks Howard made his time machine but since, you know, half his head is gone, his memory is fuzzy.
And that’s it.
So, compared to the first issue…I guess the raving out details thing works better, since we are jumping into the middle of an established world with a unique history. There’s enough familiarity to follow, but just enough uncanny valley off-Ness to confuse but keep interest. Not sure if I should be disappointed that it was a lie that this was bringing back the Ultimate Universe…but then again there’s still time.
I’m guess I’m still intrigued enough to keep following it for now.

ALL GLORY BE TO THE GUARDSMAN.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Guardsman II armor, from the "Official Hanbook of the Marvel Universe" Volumes 1 & 2 (1983 & 1986), artwork by John Romita, Jr. and Bob Layton respectively. Marvel Comics.
Inks by Joe Rubinstein (2x), colorist: Andy Yanchus (2x).
ARMOR OVERVIEW: "When Obidiah Stane took over Tony's company he mass produced the Guardsman Armor for the U.S. government. The government used the suits to man the Vault, the maximum-security super-villain prison deep in the Rockies. That is until Iron Man enforced a product "recall."
While the full specs of the Stane International Guardsman Armor were highly classified, much can be inferred from the previous Guardsman armors worn by the O'Brien brothers.
The original suit (Model I, Mark I) had all the basic powers of Tony's Iron Man armor of the time. He designed the suit to be every bit as tough as his own Iron Man suit, if not as versatile--a fact that is not surprising as Tony may have intended it to replace him as S.I.'s armored hero.
Known capabilities: Flight, great strength, and repulsor rays.
Current status: Laying on a junk pile. During the Armor Wars, Stark didn't want to risk the suits ending up in the wrong hands so he went after them (#228). Like many other armored beings, the Guardsman armor was negated, left thoroughly worthless when its circuits were fused.
NOTE: The Guardsman suit had one known critical flaw. It seemed to act adversely on already unsettled minds. With Stane less than ethical reputation it is a safe assumption that he would not have fixed this defect, even if he knew about it. Had Tony not interveened, he may have had to eventually face a torqued-up prison guard, one in a mighty armored shell of his own design."

I think the Howard idea is a very fun one, especially since it allows you to take the whole, Tony is Iron Man without the Tech idea the MCU pushed and look at it from a fun Angle: instead of Tony using his Intelligence and Resources to create the suit and fight evil, he's forced to create it using just his intelligence to fight against his Father's resources.
After all, Howard is probably going to notice Tony taking what he'd need for a 'Modern' Iron Man suit, so you could get a lot of milage out of 'Mark I'm style designs. You could also have Howard be a lot less intelligent than Tony - he's smart, but not a Super Genius, but that's balanced out by him having Stark Industries at his disposal.
Maybe use Obidiah Stane as someone who's publicly at odds with Howard but behind closed doors they're business partners and friends?
As for How and What... I'd say have Tony try more subtle ways of messing with his Dad's operations, but Howard is still smart enough to prepare for most anything Tony can think to try, even if he's not aware it's Tony. Figuring this out, and being a Sleep Deprived College Age Supergenius, Tony figures out what Howard WON'T be expecting - someone to show up at an arms deal wearing a Robot Suit to beat everyone up. Shockingly, this plan goes incredibly well.
That's just my two cents.
@paragonrobits, I always love reading your various Marvel Ideas, care to throw your Proverbial hat into the ring?
Hey all!! So, about my post from yesterday, I wanna make this a bit of a collaborative project—!! I’m gonna open the floor to you guys for help with crafting my characters and maybe even plots/story beats. It’s a fanmade project that won’t make any money, and I figure the more the merrier!!
There are characters I’m pretty dead-set in and know where to start/take their stories! But others… like the character I want to start the universe with— I only have a few ideas and want help fleshing out the concepts for…
I wanna start Earth-6161 with Iron Man, a tribute to the MCU and where it started.
Inspired by both Earth-6160’s version of Tony/Iron Lad and Iron Man: Armored Adventures, I want my Tony to be 16-18 when he first makes his Iron Man armor.
And that’s where you guys come in: I’m trying to think of HOW Tony at this young age ends up in a situation where he’ll need the suit, what situation will make him build the suit, and what will be the catalyst for his change of heart and turn to heroism.
I had an idea but I don’t know about it. Mainly because it only answers one question:
what causes Tony’s change of heart and turn towards heroism?
Howard Stark is alive and selling his weapons to the enemy. Tony learns of this and has to fight his father in a clash of ideals. Howard Stark would become Iron Monger in this reality. Tony wouldn’t kill his father, but Howard would end up at The Raft and could be featured in future stories.
But of course, that’s ONE idea, and I want many. So tumblr, HIT ME.

I find everything about this scene so fascinating! From the subtle way Tony’s face shifts from fear/betrayal to anger to fear/acceptance. Seriously, at the end of the scene you can see the terror in his eyes as he is afraid for Pepper, but knowing fully he has no way of helping her and will die well before the paralysis wears off. This is the most vulnerable we ever see Tony! He can’t even use his trademark wit to hid his fears like he usually does.
And Obidiah in this scene--geez! The predatory uncle vibes are strong here in the way he softly lowers Tony’s head to the couch then leans over him--invading his personal space. Not to mentioned it’s followed by him throwing his arm around Tony, acting like he is not minutes away from death.
I just....I think about this scene a lot.
