Happy Birthday Vixen!

note: yesterday was my birthday and i forgot to post this. i'm offically 17 and i feel like i skipped an entire year of my life. this little one-shot is completely self-indulgent, but if you'd like to know more about my oc, enjoy.

main pairing: vixen x lucifer (my self-indulgent ship)

Vixen had noticed the demon brothers had been planning something. But, whenever she would try to find out what was going on, they suddenly got all secretive and sounded like everything was okay and none of them were planning anything. Even Lucifer was a part of it, or he was just supervising.

Vixen wasn’t even aware her birthday was coming up, she never really celebrated it so it was just another day for her, so she often forgot it. The brothers were aware of this and decided to surprise her for her birthday this year, she just didn’t know it.

The day before her birthday, there was a knock on her bedroom door, “Come in!” Vixen called out, she was currently laying on her bed in her fox form, reading a book that was being held up by her fluffy tail.

The door opened and Diavolo poked his head into the room, looking around until his eyes fell onto the fox on the bed. “As, hello Vixen!” Diavolo greeted with a cheery smile. Vixen nodded in response, “Hey, what’s up?” she asked.

She knew Barbatos would scold her for his words, but she knew herself that the demon prince preferred the way she spoke to him. “Well, I was wondering how you would feel about going to the human world for a day with the brothers?” Diavolo asked.

“So babysit them so none of them get lost again?” Vixen chuckled, which is what happened the last time they went to the human world alone. “I guess you could call it that.” Diavolo responded.

Vixen nodded, letting her book flop back onto the bed as she went to jump off her bed. A puff of smoke later and the fox had returned to her human form. “Sure then.” Vixen said. “How long will we be there?” Vixen asked.

“A day.” Diavolo answered. “Not that long, so I doubt it’ll be difficult.” Vixen hummed. “Good, well I’ll let you get packed for a day.” Diavolo went to leave. “Why would I need to pack anything?” Vixen questioned, but the demon prince had already left. She shook it off, another one of the suspicious things she had noticed besides whatever the brother’s were planning.

She’d figured she’d ask the brothers at dinner.

Dinner rolls around and it was the same chaos as everyday, which Vixen had gotten used to over time. Vixen piped up about her curiosity.

“So what are we going to the human world for?” Vixen asked, waiting to see each of their reactions to try and get a clue out of something.

The other brothers froze, but Lucifer spoke quickly. “I’d figured a break to the human world wouldn’t be so bad.” He made a quick excuse.

Vixen raised an eyebrow, “And you didn’t think to bring it up with me until now, or well Diavolo had to bring it up to me.”

“It was going to be a surprise.” Lucifer explained. Vixen looked confused, “A surprise why?”.

“Did you have something planned?” Vixen then asked, thinking about all the sneaking around the seven did for the past week. “I guess you can say it’s been something we’ve been planning, Mammon was supposed to tell you about the trip to the human world though.” Satan chimed in.

“Hey-!” Mammon looked like he was going to argue until Lucifer shot him a look. “Well, I forgot alright!” Mammon tried to excuse himself.

“So what do you guys have planned for the trip?” Vixen then asked. “You’ll see when we get there.” Lucifer answered. Vixen nodded, not wanting to pry more into it.

The next day rolled around and it was early when they went to the human world. Which accidentally blinded Satan like it always did, the poor demon lived in the Devildom for all his life and was not used to the sun like his brothers.

Vixen insisted they stay together to avoid getting lost, then searching for 12 hours for ONE of the brothers like the last trip, but Lucifer insisted it would be fine and he put a “human world app” on their phones to keep track of them.

So, the entire time it was just Lucifer and Vixen in the human world for a little bit. Lucifer kept checking his phone often, and Vixen was curious, but didn’t stick her nose into it.

“So, I heard we were staying the whole day in the human world then going back to the Devildom tomorrow morning?” Vixen questioned. “Yes, this was just supposed to be a day break.” Lucifer confirmed, but he was hiding something, Vixen could tell when Lucifer was keeping secrets.

Vixen wanted to push it, truly did, but decided to wait and see if she could get any more information from his vague responses…

Which she didn’t, it only got more confusing until it was mid-afternoon, especially when Lucifer was urging her away from downtown, and to another small store that sold swimsuits?

“You mentioned you needed a new one.” Was Lucifer’s only excuse, his eyes avoiding hers. Vixen only smiled and began browsing the shelves.

Another thing she noticed is that coming to the human world, they were near a beach, so she wanted to see if she could drop by there before they leave, it had been such a long time since she’s played in the water or sand, and the Devildom has no beaches, well it does, but it doesn’t feel right not being in the sun.

Vixen picked out a two piece purple bathing suit. She was torn between the orange or purple one but decided with the purple one, it was her favorite color after all. Vixen tried to convince Lucifer of getting another bathing suit, but failed.

Vixen was going to pay for it, but Lucifer beat her to it. Vixen was confused because Lucifer wasn’t adamant about something like that. She sighed, thinking it was another thing they were planning.

“A hotel?” Vixen questioned, following Lucifer. Lucifer nodded in confirmation, “Is that where we’ll be staying? Are we already done with everything?” Vixen asked. Lucifer only gave her a small smile, “Not everything is finished, but almost.” He said.

Lucifer continued to lead the confused Vixen to the hotel they were staying at, and the hotel is right next to the beach, which made Vixen very happy to see the beach again, and since Lucifer said almost everything was done, she was hoping to try out her new bathing suit and relax.

Lucifer and her checked into the hotel room, and got the card. As soon as Lucifer opened the door, Vixen felt a tingle in her pacts. Then Lucifer flicked the light switch off, and Vixen almost jumped at the sudden loud, “SURPRISE” that was shouted all inside the room.

Vixen looked around and saw the entire hotel room, which was three king suites with doors that lead to each of them, it was decorated for a birthday. Vixen finally looked at the date on her phone, finally putting two and two together.

All the secret planning, and this surprise trip was all for her birthday the brother’s were planning behind her back, and she had once again completely forgotten her birthday. Lucifer took one of those little paper birthday hats and put it on Vixen’s head. “Happy Birthday Vixen.” He smiled.

“Vixen, did you forget your own birthday?” Satan asked, Lucifer quickly reached behind him and snatched the paper hat from Belphegor that was trying to put one on him. Causing both of the brothers to frown.

“Yeah..” Vixen answered Satan. “Hey, if I have to wear one, so do you. So put the paper hat on Lucifer.” Vixen ordered as she looked at Lucifer. Lucifer grumbled and put the hat on, which was a bit crumpled, the poor pride demon looked wounded, but he sucked it up.

Everyone wished her a happy birthday, then Lucifer dropped the ball. They planned this the moment she mentioned how much she liked the beach. Originally they were going to use Diavolo’s private beach, but they shut it down since Vixen would get too suspicious.

Vixen saw their point, since they only used the private beach for vacation reasons, or Diavolo forcing Lucifer to take a vacation. Everyone else besides Vixen and Lucifer were in their swimsuits and were told to get dressed quickly.

They spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach, they ended up burying Lucifer, Diavolo, and Leviathan in the sand. Belphegor got thrown into the water by Beelzebub. Barbatos and Simeon kept an eye on Luke making sandcastles. Solomon dragged Asmodeus into the water.

Mammon kept freezing himself in the water, and Satan kept scaring the people who were in the water with a fake shark fin on his back. Vixen stayed in the water for the most part, but helped Luke make a sand castle showing him how to keep the sand from falling apart.

Eventually night fell and they went back to the hotel, everyone had to wash up after it took an hour to unburying Diavolo, Lucifer, and Leviathan, Leviathan not wanting to come out of the ground because he enjoyed it and liked feeling the waves wash over him.

They ended up singing happy birthday to Vixen and Barbatos had made her a homemade 3 layer cake that looked like a fox for her. Vixen never usually got excited for things like this, but found it amazing Barbatos how he was able to do something like this.

After eating the cake everyone cleaned up, Vixen tried to help, but Lucifer had snatched her off to the 3rd king suite that Diavolo had paid for just for the couple. Vixen knew the moment he snatched her off, she wouldn’t help and knew they planned it that way knowing her nature.

“So, you want me all for yourself tonight?” Vixen teased. “Well, I can’t deny that I do.” Lucifer responded, leaning down and giving her a gentle kiss. “But, I know that if I didn’t drag you away, you’d try to clean up your own birthday party.” He said.

“I just wanted to help.” Vixen said, “Too bad, this time they get to clean it up, you’re always cleaning up after us.” Lucifer stated. Vixen sighed, “Fine, I give up.” She huffed, gently wrapping her arms around Lucifer.

“We could just cuddle the rest of the night or watch a movie.” Vixen suggested, “Or we could just sneak back out to the beach, I doubt my brother’s would notice.” Lucifer smirked, Vixen smiled at the suggestion. “But, both of our swimsuits are dirty, and they’ll see if we come back with sand all over us.” Vixen replied. “And that’s why there’s something called extra swimsuits.” Lucifer said, pulling a bag from under the bed, it was a matching couples swimsuit.

“You are so cheesy sometimes, Lucifer.” Vixen chuckled holding up the female one. “Well, I thought it was romantic.” Lucifer said, crossing his arms. Vixen chuckled lightly, “Well, I love it when you are cheesy like this.”.

Vixen loved it when Lucifer could just drop his pride around her, and do something romantically cheesy like this, which was popular back in the day, but no so much today, but Vixen would never say anything because she found it adorable that such a cold and prideful man would try and do such cute and romantic things.

Vixen ended up putting on the swimsuit, it was a simple one piece with open sides, it was completely black and had little peacock feathers on it. Lucifer’s was a simple pair of swim trunks with the same design. Vixen wanted to laugh, she knew why Lucifer chose this out, after all his representing animal is a peacock and Vixen would make teases at him for it.

The two ended up sneaking out through their own suite and made it to the beach that was covered in the moonlight of the human world moon. It was a full moon that night, which made the ocean have a gentle glisten to it.

“I remembered how you mentioned how you liked it when the human world moon made the sea glisten like this, now I see why you find it beautiful.” Lucifer smiled. Vixen nodded, “It’s always been beautiful to me since I was a kid.” She hummed.

“Thank you for today.” Vixen then turned to Lucifer, the two were now sitting in the shallow water, letting the waves roll over them. “I’d never thought you’d forget your own birthday.” Lucifer laughed at her, “Like you can talk mister.” Vixen teased, reminding him of his second birthday with Vixen around.

The two sat in the water until a little past midnight, knowing they’d have to go back before someone noticed the two were gone. They changed and hid the second pair of swimsuits, carefully to avoid Lucifer’s brothers seeing. The two ended up cuddling before falling asleep and getting back to their normal routine of life.

It was one of the first birthday’s Vixen celebrated with friends and family and couldn’t wait for the next one.
