You woke up in the middle of the night. You blinked your eyes open, thinking about rearranging yourself so you could drift back to sleep. And then you noticed the tuft of white hair that was peeking out above the edge of your mattress.

You reached out sleepily, burying your fingers in it.

The head shifted as Mammon looked over at you. It was dark in your room, but you could still see his gold-blue eyes. They seemed somehow dull, as though he wasn’t fully aware of himself.

“Mammon?” you whispered into the quiet. “Are you okay? What are you doing down there?”

Mammon was leaning against the side of your bed, arms around his knees. He shook his head a little, causing your fingers to ruffle through his hair. “Don’t worry about it, MC. Go back to sleep.”

You sighed. Like you could actually do that with him here like this. You sat up. “Don’t do that to me. Tell me what’s going on.”

Mammon didn’t move and he didn’t say anything, only sat there on your floor.

You pulled yourself out of the bed and sat in front of him. You leaned your cheek against one of his knees and looked up into his face. “Talk to me. Please.”

Mammon lifted his head and you were shocked to see the pain in his eyes. “Sorry, MC. Didn’t mean to wake ya.”

“Mammon…”

Mammon leaned his head back against the mattress. “Just had a nightmare, that’s all. Couldn’t go back to sleep, so I came here.”

You could tell you weren’t going to get any more out of him than that. But it didn’t matter. That was enough.

You stood up again and grabbed his hands, pulling him to his feet. He froze as you wrapped your arms around him, pressing him into you. For a moment, you could feel him trembling, but then he melted into your embrace. His arms enclosed you, his forehead resting on your shoulder.

You stayed that way for a long time, unwilling to let him go until he stopped shaking in your arms.

Eventually, you felt his body relax, enough that you felt he might be able to sleep again. You extracted yourself from him gently before tugging him into the bed with you.

Mammon was your guardian demon, the one who was always looking out for you, always by your side. But sometimes the guardian needed protection, too. And you would always be there to comfort him, even if he wasn’t sure how to ask for it.

you held no ill will towards lilith. all she had done was exist. that doesn't stop others from warping their perception of you. luckily, satan understands how you feel.

His world began with the scent of copper and scorching heat that nipped at his skin. Yours began in the arms of your mother and the fluorescent light of the hospital room. He was bathed in blood that was not his own whilst you were dressed in warm, cotton gowns. His father mourned not for his birth, but for the loss of someone of greater importance than him. Yours will kiss your chubby cheeks and hold your tiny clenched fists.

Your beginnings couldn’t be any more different. However, that will not change the antecedent of your and Satan’s existence. Lilith, a woman neither of you met, but suddenly became the forefront in your and Satan’s minds. Belphegor’s attack, your ancestry and the proceeding actions of the brothers muddy the sight behind your eyelids. Your late-night contemplations end up coinciding with Satan’s when you both catch each other in the act of making chamomile tea. You wonder what would have happened if you had never gone to the kitchen that night, never knowing of the identical internal strife Satan would be having.

He told you that after the incident, thoughts of Lilith have also begun to plague him. You take in the defeat in his tone and launch into rambles of your own because if Satan is beginning to peek over the emotional wall he has made, you will have to break it down on your own. You tell him she doesn’t threaten you, a ghost who hadn’t existed to you before this week. You know you are still you, you are just afraid of that day you will no longer be considered that by his brothers.

He listened to you quietly, sipping on his tea, and once you were done you finally took a long look at him. Satan is a gorgeous demon, beauty touched by something beyond your understanding. No human man can compare to him because humans are decorated by flaws, scars and history. Demons are above earthly qualities like that. Yet, when you take in the dimness of Satan’s emerald eyes and how he tilts his head back to rest it against the headboard you begin to see it. The weight that strains his shoulders, and the mask he meticulously puts on. You are reminded that even he can share the burden of overthinking and late-night worries with you.

He tells you of his childhood (“If I can even call it that,” He scoffs). His birth marked the end of Lilith, and when he was first brought home in Lucifer’s bleeding arms, there was no denying the role he had already been dressed into. It was a sick joke, he thinks, to have been born so similar to Lilith with golden hair and eyes the colour of dew-covered grass. He recalls to you how Beelzbebub and Belphegor could barely look him in the eyes, how Asmodeus attempted to falsely dote on him because he never really saw him but his baby sister, of how Lucifer would meet his gaze as if he’s seen a ghost.

“But I was not her. I never could be,” He tells you firmly, eyes steely as if wanting to make this fact clear to you as well. He didn’t need to. You know very well he’s Satan, a tired Satan who's sitting on your bed with you and nursing his tea like a lifeline. He is intelligent, cunning, multitalented, someone who has trouble wearing his heart on his sleeve but the diehard romantic in him wishes he could. Lilith was bluntly honest, unconditionally kind, brimmed with curiosity and tended to make herself seen wherever she went. You don’t need to list these differences for Satan to know he couldn’t be her replacement, and she could never replace the role he’s built in this house either. As if reading your mind, the blonde smiles wryly.

“I know what I am,” and as if to say “You know what you are too”, Satan taps his fingers three times on the exposed skin of your arm. His eyes are rounded in affection, and you can’t bite back your sheepish smile either.

Things will be okay.

Your stories have the ability to touch someone. To them it may have helped them through a rough time and it's become a comfort. Or similarly, it be what helps them get through that time.

If you think what you've written is horrible, still don't delete it. To someone out there, it could be a masterpiece, the best thing they've read. It doesn't matter if you think it's cringey, to them it is a work of art.

More than once I have gone looking for a multi part fic, one shot, or headcannon only to find it doesn't exist anymore. And most of those, gave me comfort in a bad headspace where I just wanted to be in the same world of my comfort characters for a few short words.

So please, i am begging you: say farewell, log off for the last time, and leave your stories to be loved and appreciated. If the big literary greats whose work was subpar or the authors were horrible, people can be appreciated, so can you.

The Home Theater

Satan

"I don't remember the House of Lamentation having one of these," MC notes as they take in their surroundings. "Whose idea was it to put one here?"

"It was mine," I answer. "Barbatos helped me set everything up. All the equipment, the acoustics...it's all top-notch."

"By human world standards, or Devildom ones?" I've forgotten how observant they are. MC seems to enjoy taking in all sorts of information, even if it seems insignificant to other people. That's one of the things I like about them.

"According to the employee at DevTech--I mean, Best Buy--we have the top-of-the-line equipment, and the quality is comparable to some of ours." I hate that I keep swapping human world names with Devildom ones. I personally feel like I'm better than that.

"Have you guys used it yet?"

"Funny that you mention that, because we just started a zombie movie marathon last weekend."

"Was that your idea as well?" I nod my head.

"The idea of zombies has interested me for a while now. While there are diseases and curses that can induce a zombie-like state in demons, it's usually a temporary problem that can be solved with medicine. That doesn't seem to be the case with humans."

"Are you solely basing that on our movies?"

"Of course not. I've also read books."

"Fiction or non-fiction?" Oh, I'm about to blow their mind.

"Both, actually."

While the human world seems to focus on the fantastical elements of zombies, the Devildom has meticulously recorded all zombie outbreaks that have occurred throughout the centuries. You see, sometimes a human zombie accidentally stumbles in the Devildom, and we have to deal with that situation properly in order to prevent chaos.

While we've certainly dealt with the stereotypical zombies--the ones that are slow-moving, crave brains, and are more or less dead--those aren't the only ones that we've come across. Some are capable of sprinting, others aren't too keen on brains, and there's even those that appear perfectly fine on the outside but have some kind of parasite in their brain that's making them carry out orders with no thought whatsoever.

Although, sometimes the parasite doesn't have a physical form and is instead created as a result of rather intense brainwashing.

"I see," MC states once I've completed my mini lecture. "Somehow, that's never come up in any of my classes."

"That's because you've only taken general knowledge ones. RAD offers majors, and with those comes specific classes for particular areas of study. Although, in order to declare a major, you have to prove that you have a solid understanding of the fundamentals first, since you might get pulled to teach a class or two."

"Has that ever happened to you guys?"

"Lucifer and I are the only ones out of our bunch that have declared a major. Belphie's been offered, but he doesn't want to deal with the responsibility of teaching, so he just takes whatever interests him. The others simply haven't proven themselves yet. Levi struggles with attendance, and Beel has difficulty concentrating. As for Mammon and Asmo, I think they're content with where they're at right now, so they're not going to push themselves too hard."

"What do you and Lucifer major in?"

"He does potions and curses. I focus on history and literature. Somehow, despite my sin, I tend to be a more patient teacher than him. At least, that's what I've heard from other students."

"That's really interesting." MC appears deep in thought. "Do you think I could major in something?"

Honestly, I don't know how to answer that question, mainly because we've never had beings outside the Devildom attend RAD before Diavolo implemented the exchange program. It wouldn't surprise me if he did allow MC and the others to declare a major eventually, but I don't know how long that would take. Would MC be alive by then? Or be in a good physical and mental state to take in additional knowledge, let alone teach an entire classroom? Personally, I think they have the best chance out of the initial exchange students of eventually declaring a major, but that isn't for me to determine.

"That would be something to ask Diavolo. I don't think I'm qualified to answer that question." MC nods their head.

"So, changing the subject...wanna watch a movie together?"

"Like, right now?"

"Yeah!" I sigh.

"As much as I would like to, I doubt the others would be happy if I kept you all to myself before they've even had the chance to say hi to you. I will have to take your offer some other time."

"Sounds good. I'll try to find a good movie for us to watch together in the meantime."

"You bring the movie, and I'll whip up something nice for us to eat." MC snorts in amusement. "Do you not think I'm capable of cooking, MC?"

"It's not that at all. Just reacting to an idea I had, that's all."

"What kind of thought?" Interesting. My question has made them tense up all of a sudden. Usually they only get that way if someone catches them doing something that they think they're not supposed to do. Like fiddling with strange objects.

Or having dirty thoughts.

I keep coming across the phrase "Netflix and chill" in the media I've been consuming, and it appears to be referring to hooking up with someone as a movie's playing in the background. Is MC wanting to do that with me?

Are they afraid I'd find the idea silly? Because I don't. I mean, if it was something that I was invested in, then I'd want to pay attention to whatever was playing, but I'm more than capable of choosing something that I can tune out as I focus on something else.

Especially if that something else happens to be MC.

I lean in closer to them to whisper,

"You know, I went ahead and assembled a collection of movies I thought you'd like." I plant a kiss right below MC's ear, making them shiver slightly. "I really enjoyed picking them out, actually." I begin moving down their neck. "It was fun thinking about what might appeal to you. There are so many genres that are worth exploring."

🍵 On days where he's at a 9 includes him taking a break from serving Dia and takes you to the gardens to make flower crowns as you vent your frustrations I love flower crowns leave me alone

Satan: he finishes off whatever book he’s been reading and sometimes organizes his books

i know all of the boys are giggling and kicking their legs when mc gets protective over them. their favorite human in an unknown, dangerous environment, defending them or getting between someone who insults them. they're all blushing and writing proposal speeches in their heads!

I think about this a lot actually. Just because you would expect a bunch of demons and high powered beings to be super protective over MC, which they are. But I find I quite like the reverse situation.

MC is no pushover, especially after the end of season 3 in OG. Like, that is a human sure but they have pacts with the most powerful of demons, plus they learned magic from Solomon. AND they have the Ring of Light? Like anybody who crosses that motherfucker is taking their life in their hands, you know?

So imagine being a super powerful demon and this scrappy lil human gets between you and some threat. And not only that, but the human takes care of it.

If I was a demon/angel/sorcerer, I'd be swooning too.

Sharing Food Culture at the HOL

I find the idea of cultural integration in the HOL to be one of the cutest sweetest things. Like there's all these Devildom ingredients in the cabinet and now that you live there there's food from your human world culture. There's salted batwing seasoning next to the adobo. Hood ice cream next to the DevilCream. The Demonus cabinet now has many human world wines. 

You guys all share things some of you even pick up and continue to use the things you like. You use the Devil Hot Sauce. They use up all your seasonings because they're unique and different.

She will then help you get the stains off your skin and bathroom.

She thinks there's something wholesome about cleaning each other off, but she will never admit it cause ew vulnerability.

If she drags you out to party with her and Angel and notices you grow uncomfortable, she will guard you. If you tell her you must leave, she will whine and be right behind you as you walk out of the building.

If someone says anything derogatory or hateful about you, she will not hesitate to blow them up—no questions asked.

If you don't like violence, don't worry. She will take down places, names, and descriptions so she can sneak out and take care of the problem.

I firmly believe that as hardcore and Girlboss Cherri acts, she is like many of us with a secret squish mellow/plushie collection at her place.

Therefore, she likes to trade plushies with you and buy you new ones.

You sat on the chair in the center of the hotel, a towel thrown around you like a cape. To the far left, where the bar stood, Husk and Angel watched the display as Cherri filled her non-life-threatening bombs with hair dye. Was this a brilliant idea? No, but what would life be with out living on the edge slightly. Cherri finished up her last bomb and then walked around to face you. "Alright tiger you ready for this or what, I can't wait to see what we can make." You nod hesitantly, trusting your partner to not kill you in this process.

"Cherri, he looks like he's about to pass out. Are you sure this is a smart idea," Angel said safely across the room. The woman just turned and looked at her friend, flipping him off before proceeding. The first bomb was thrown, then another and another. Blues, Purples, Greens, and Pinks flooded your vision. Coughing, flailing your arms around the dye'splosion desipated.

"Cherri, that was a lot. How much even got in my hair?" Looking around the room, Angel and Husk were hidden behind a blue and green bar. The couches were now Pink and Purple. Did any of the dye get on your head? Cherri came into your view smiling awkwardly, scratching her head. "So Y/N, what if I told you we are gonna have to do that all over again." You laughed a full belly laugh, standing and walking over to the powder closet by the stairs. Sure enough, your blonde hair was still very, very present. You began to laugh harder as Cherri walked in, completely covered in dye. How she managed to cover your whole body, her whole body, and the entire lobby, but not your head, was impressive. You hugged the girl kissing her check making a pretty color of magenta on the spot your lips landed.

As you pulled away you heard a very devastating screech from you assumed Charlie followed by a loud static sound. Eyes wide you looked at Cherri, "RUN".

You sat at the kitchen bar playing on your D.D.D., waiting for your instant Ramen to finish. As you played, you heard two of the brothers walk in. "Oh hey, Y/N, what are you doing here so late," Beel said. Beel and Belphie started rummaging through cabinets; Beel looked like he was stalking up for the apocalypse, while Belphie just wanted to sleep. "Beel, he is obviously making something to eat. What else does it look like?" Belphie responded for you.

As you heard the microwave ding, you went to grab your food. "How can you and Levi's stomach eat that stuff so regularly," Belphie questioned. You shrugged, "It's good gamer fule all that salt in it." Beel laughed, stuffing his face with Asmo's chocolates. "Belphie, if you are so tired, why are you helping Beel look for food?" Belphie just shrugged and began to walk out, Beel following close behind. "If you're so eager to game Y/N, why are you dressed in Levi's clothes when 20 minutes ago you were in your own." You hesitated, face glowing red.

As you went to defend yourself, Levi walked in, obviously looking for you. "Hey Beel, Belphie, Y/N, why are you so red? Are you sick? Are you okay?" Levi began to dote on you while Belphie laughed and continued out of the kitchen with Beel. "Leeeeevi why didn't you stop them, Belphie is a perve." Levi laughed before responding. "Is he a perve if he's right?" As Levi smirked at you, you smacked his shoulder and bolted it back to his room.

Satan: No, it definitely works here one second. (He pulls a book from the shelf and then opens it up. Instead of handing it to you, he writes something down on scratch paper. Once finished, he hands it to you)

Y/N: Uh, what is this? (you look at the neat handwriting, reading it over)

Satan: Just trust me and say what's on it.

Y/N: 'Leviathan, oh Leviathan, where is Leviathan? Not here, not there, not anywhere. Whatever shall I do? If he doesn't show up soon, I will have to ( you paused, looking at the words before Satan encouraged you) Uh, kiss another fool.'
