based on how i approach plotting ive come to the conclusion that even if i were morally and logically okay with becoming kira i would get the death note and think "okay, im going to make sure i come up with the perfect plan so i can't get caught", spend several months on it, refuse to execute it because it's not foolproof yet, and simply never get around to it. if ethics and reason didn't stop me from becoming kira then sheer procrastination would do the trick

Anakin risked a glance up, just for a moment. His eyes locked with Qui-Gon's, and he froze.

His Master's face was as serene as ever, blue eyes clear and unreadable. Anakin had spent years trying to decipher the subtle shifts in Qui-Gon's expression, the tiny tells that might hint at approval or disappointment.

Now, he found... nothing. Just that infuriating Jedi calm.

"Senator Kenobi." Palpatine's voice sent ice down Anakin's spine. "I apologize for the intrusion, but when we learned young Skywalker was here..."

"Of course," Obi-Wan said smoothly. "I'm sure you've been quite concerned."

Anakin's eyes darted between them, his breath coming in short, sharp bursts. Qui-Gon's gaze hadn't left him, and Anakin fought the urge to squirm under the scrutiny.

What is he thinking? Is he angry? Disappointed?

"Anakin." Qui-Gon's voice was gentle, but Anakin still flinched. "Are you alright?"

He opened his mouth, but no sound came out. What could he possibly say?

Sorry, Master, I ran away and let a strange alpha fuck me through my heat. But it's fine, because I think I might be in love with him.

Through a string of ironic circumstances, the three of you evaded the clutches of the same fateful death. Call a truce, and escape the laboratories together.

in some instances you meet mere moments before disaster strikes. in others you are forced to be enemies due to untimely misunderstandings. sometimes you only catch a glimpse of the other in passing before they disappear as though they never existed. there would be the odd occasion where only one of you recognised the other, with them not knowing who you are or of the history which haunts your conscience.

and then there would be times you find yourself desperately holding the other, the tears which burn tracks down your cheeks being the only source of warmth on their cold skin.

despite the unnerving predictability fate has in store for you, you both cannot help but to hope that maybe — just maybe — this next lifetime will be kinder to you both; kinder in a way that your souls are not torn apart before they can even meld together.

(though such sentiment never comes true, it doesn't stop the feeble hope from burning aflame when you cross paths every lifetime. repeatedly, incessantly, and without fail.)
