Lin Beifong from LOK for the ask game!

How I feel about this character Considering Lin features in 42 of 54 of my AO3 stories, I guess you could say: intrigued. I'm fascinated by the places where her life is or is not similar to mine.

All the people I ship romantically with this character Kya, first and foremost. I owe almost all of my fandom experience to this pairing, from @slowdissolve's writings forward. Again, the similarities and dissimilarities allow for a lot of room for imagination. Tenzin and Pema, the OT3 that snuck up on me. This, like so many worthy things, I blame on toastweasel. Zolt, the dark horse. Reading @wishingforatypewriter's crackship, fast-talked Slowdissolve into a collaboration, and 50K words later, here we are. Hiroshi Sato, the one-shot. So far. ;) Mako, the lurker. I'll admit to having blown this ship off at first, but art from @yukaro353 clicked, and now I have a real WIP in progress.

My non-romantic OTP for this character Professionally, I have Saikhan here, even with that S1 tension. Personally, I like to imagine her reconciliation with both Pema and Su after world events back off a bit.

My unpopular opinion about this character Pretty thoroughly unpopular is my thought that Lin bears some (not most, by any means) of the responsibility for her own personal situation. She had multiple opportunities to work things out with Su, Toph, and Tenzin, but seems to have chosen to preserve her hurt instead. She doesn't owe them anything. But if she slaps away any attempts to reconcile, she doesn't get to pretend she doesn't have a part of the estrangement.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. With the above in mind, I would like for those reconciliations to have been more deliberate, and less circumstantial. Toph, in particular, never seemed to have a moment to give her any appreciation.

I was able to commission @redreart to feed my bg3 obsession even more. I absolutely adored the scene where Astarion and Nymas (my Tav) hold hands. But I would have liked it if they wouldn't have stood that far away from each other. It could have been far more intimate to let them stand closer. This is now rectified.

I stared at it the whole day before sharing now and I cannot express how fucking gorgeous this is. And the starsky in the background 🥺
