During the Palki Yatra, devotees gather together and form a procession, carrying the palki on their shoulders or atop a vehicle. The palki is adorned with flowers, garlands, and other decorative elements, creating a visually captivating sight. The procession moves through the streets, accompanied by devotional singing, chanting of Sai Baba's name, and the playing of traditional musical instruments. The Palki Yatra serves as a symbol of Sai Baba's divine presence being carried from one place to another, spreading blessings, love, and positive energy to all who witness or participate in the procession. It is believed that Sai Baba's grace and blessings flow abundantly during such yatras, providing spiritual upliftment and fostering a sense of unity among the devotees. The Sai Baba Yatra in NYC offers a unique opportunity for devotees to experience the divine presence of Sai Baba in a vibrant and diverse city like New York. It provides a platform for spiritual seekers to deepen their connection with Sai Baba, find solace in his teachings, and cultivate a greater sense of inner peace, love, and compassion.

So is Pedro’s character named “Desi” then? 👀 That’s what it seems like. 🤔
ETA: Apparently the trailer this and other anon reported are washrooms. But they got confused because Dakota’s character name is Lucy too. 🤣🤣🤣
At least we all had a laugh for a change!! 🤣🤣
Thank you very much for this pic! 🥰🥰

One of my New Years resolutions is inspired by @heartstringsduet and it's to take more pictures of my friends and experiences and I am happy to report that I took over 200 pictures 🤣 I only went slightly overboard! I hope you all also had a lovely weekend!

Dropping in just to tell you how much I LOVE your Sevika x Silco portrayal. I never considered Sevilco a ship before reading your fics but you make them work so well, and I really like that you gave Sevika so much more backstory and character development. As a desi girl, I also appreciate your Sevika giving us desi rep and making it so relatable and believable. The kavya, the payasam, the bidi, I can feel her being desi on my skin, lol.
And for Silco, you make him such a hot bastard, it's unbelievable.
As someone who's a huge Grishaverse fan, they're giving Kaz x Inej vibes. I think you mentioned reading Six of Crows so I believe you're familiar with the duo, but I can really see similarities between Kaz and Silco. They're both badass villains, they're both dark and twisted and have done questionable things, they both have an intense obsession with destroying a rich and corrupt society and replacing it with something better. Also Inej and Sevika are both poc women who can kick ass and they both have a complicated relationship with the men they love. I love Kaz and Inej to death but if they were a little darker and older, they could totally be Silco and Sevika.
I'm sorry, I'm rambling, but I wanted to share. Keep up the amazing writing! I hope you write a lot more Sevilco fics. You've become one of my favorite Arcane authors, and I look forward to your updates.
Thank you so much<333
I'm so glad you're enjoying Sevika and Silco content. They've been a weird 'sleeper hit' with certain pockets of the fandom (and horrified a few others) and I'm really happy the ship's being considered as a viable option.
I really did want to try and give Sevika a bit more depth re: her family, motivations and flaws, simply because there's so much (justifiable) thirst for her character as a hot mama, and plenty of 'yas queen'ing everytime she does something terrible - but not a lot of consideration for the human, complex, flawed person behind the muscle, and why she'd choose to throw in her lot with Silco and stake everything on Zaun.
I'm also so pleased the representation feels authentic - I'm basing Zaun on RL Manchester in some ways, and Queens NYC in others - both of which are very diverse, with a huge South Asian presence. If FnF was taking place IRL, Silco would've been a no-good-bounding English boy of working-class immigrant parents (probs half-French, half-German) growing up with his best friend Vander (also of German descent with a little Greek thrown in) and Sevika and Nandi would've hailed from the nearby South Indian community, all set in the 1980s. The boy would've known his way around a good plate of biryani, though I doubt Nandi would've let him within 100m of her kitchen, let alone into her bed.
Sevika, on the other hand, would've hung out with him aaaaaall the time, just so she could bum his cigarettes and booze, and snog questionable girls behind the local pub.
(He would've paid her a tenner so he could watch her and her mate snog at his twenty-fifth birthday party. She'd have agreed, and maybe tried to goad him into joining in…)
Roflmao I do remember reading SoC, but it was very long ago, and I was a bit old for the 'young adult' genre by then. I did enjoy Kaz x Inej, although the dynamics would be somewhat different, and in many ways, far less toxic: none of this 'let the monster out' nonsense as Inej wants Kaz to be a better person, not a more ruthless one.
But really, all things aside, this is all I can think of whenever I see the comparison made:
Also we fuck. A lot.
Thank you so much, and I'm very happy you're enjoying the story<333

Aita for never making white ttrpg characters?
Title is a little weird, but I play a lot of ttrpgs with friends. I (M19) am white, so is all but one girl in our ttrpg group (F23), she’s Puerto Rican.
Anyways, all the games we play are rpgs based in the real world, whether they be urban fantasy or horror, they’re never in fantasy worlds. I like to explore different cultures, researching them and designing accurate characters for these games. I made a Bangladeshi girl for a MASKS: New Generations game who wanted to be the first desi superhero in America and was attending a superhero boarding school in upstate New York, I made half Iraqi/half Black boy in a homebrew power by the apocalypse game who was raised by his Chinese step-mother and was adopted into a giant extended family that took place in Brooklyn NYC, I made a black camp counselor for a Sleepaway oneshot, and I made a Mexican/Cajun boy for a Monsterhearts game taking place in south Louisiana.
For every character, I took my time and did days of research into backgrounds, cultures, and potential sensitivity issues. The last thing I want is to misrepresent a culture. The Puerto Rican girl in our group, let’s call her “Mary”, has never had a problem with my characters, but I’ve gotten comments from other players that it’s weird that I never play any white characters. I’ve made a white character twice; one for a Ten Candles game who was a 50 year old vet (and I miss him everyday, easily one of my favorite one-off characters because of his intense hatred of the Dallas Cowboys), and one for a homebrew 80’s slasher game who somehow because the first jock to be a final girl (He was too pure for this world, can’t wait to play his reincarnation in an ALENS game)
Our forever GM hasn’t ever had an issue with my characters, she even brings a giant variety of NPCs from all over to her games and makes the whole experience so much fun. The few times she’s made characters, they’ve always had great chemistry with mine and I’ve always had a good time
But, even with Mary’s and the GM’s approval, I still feel off about the comments of the other players. I love my characters, and the research I do for them helps me as a writer as that’s my profession atm. It seems like every time I propose a new character who isn’t white, I get asked “so what part of the world are they from now?” or “aren’t you German? Are you scared of doing a German character?” or other questions like that
I don’t play ttrpgs to insert myself into different fantasies, I play ttrpgs to explore new characters and new settings through different experiences. I don’t want to be labeled racist, but I understand if I’m coming off that way. If I’m voted the asshole, I’ll reflect and learn why. Commenters, deffo tell me how I can be better.
Anyways, AITA?
TL:DR, I’m white, I make primarily POC characters in ttrpgs, my group is annoyed and makes passive aggressive comments each time I do so. Aita for not making more white characters?

In the scene where Aaliyah introduces Cruz to her mother, did anyone notice how she seemed nervous? She starts fidgeting with her engagement ring. Wish we got to see a little more of the beautiful henna on her hands. She doesn't seem to have a close relationship with anyone in her family, everything is cold and formal.
Ohhh, that's true! It's quite visible:
Kind of sucks that her mom was so rude then, given how nervous Aaliyah was.
I did notice Aaliyah doing that in another little scene where you could see the nerves working on her:
As for the henna, there was this look later:
It did make me wonder if Arab bridal henna isn't as involved as desi? Ours is like if you were wearing an elbow-length chainmail glove. :P
You know, I wish it had been a bit more apparent later on, during the kiss:
You do see this much here, but like... okay, the show doesn't ignore Aaliyah's background, certainly, but we see so much of her through a certain lens, in a bikini on the beach, clubbing, drinking, upscale NYC stores, it'd have been nice to see the juxtaposition of something nice from her culture with this particular side of her.
In fact, my friend wondered, when she was still watching the start, if the show would be brave enough to show something gay while they were doing hijab, and you know, I'd have loved to see even just a simple kiss. I know the optics would be a bit eyebrow-raising, especially for the reach a show like this gets (compared to, for example, The Bold Type), but stilllll.

What do you think about the ring?
Dear (insisting) Ring Anon,
I see the topic itches. I have answered this question three days ago, but somehow kept receiving Anon upon Anon upon Anon about it and, to be honest, I was surprised to be thinking about it, too.
Which is exactly the intended - and achieved - effect of this new plot device.
Mordor went berserk, including Meow Kabob's Gay Clique. The Shire hummed and buzzed with DMs. Lasagna Lady could have testified before a Grand Jury it was gold. Another halfwit joked on X about giving it to Desi, then retracted when things went completely out of control. A perfectly executed spin for a drier, longer Droughtlander.
If all this hullaballoo were happening at the Olympic Games, I'd give Desi a Comăneci 10.
This ring is all about using very useful and cost-effective props. It will fuel endless speculation, vanishing and reappearing whenever convenient, with no further need for painful pap walks, Flukenzie Floozy clones or a new round of The Matrix Bikini Game.
And that brings along another thought. We often use the expression going down the rabbit hole, when we talk about how this charade started for anyone in this fandom. But I begin to wonder if we didn't go down a funnel: at first wide open and then narrower and narrower (IFH, EFH, Remarkable Week-End, etc). Then COVID, followed by this strike made it even narrower, if at all possible, because now we don't even have the customary promo/banter periodically thrown in to keep the sacred fire alive. The Vestals are bored and already yawning.
But there is also a new book and some more booze to be sold. He knows - because he reads us, make no mistake- this fandom's documented obsession with rings (his or Lucy's, for that matter), so let's assume he indulged us. Yeah, I am grinning as I write it. Desi is trolling us big time and let's be honest: we love every single second of it.
As an aside, allow me to share a little something about me:
This is my left hand, of course. And that is a beloved family heirloom madame Mère gave me on my eighteenth birthday. It belonged to my Armenian great-grandmother and I never took it off. Not even when doing the dishes, swimming or walking around Phnom Penh's slums. I am not married and I am not especially looking forward to, for personal reasons.
In Desi's case, The Ring appeared at Starbucks (who the hell shows an 'engagement ring' while staying in line for covfefe?), on one of those very hot & humid end of summer days when NYC turns into a giant sauna. Understandably, he was dressed to suggest he casually went to record that book at Hachette's after a workout session: but if also weightlifting, why bring The Ring?
So read my lips, Anon: it means nothing and also anything you want it to mean. Yes, at the same time. This is OL, after all.
We didn't even start to see the end of this, mark me. It's way too juicy and the night is young.
PS: The good thing about going down a funnel is that at the end of the day you know you'll be out of it, somehow. That moment will come. Not a single doubt or worry in the world about it.
