you ever think about how pretty much the only reason we use base10 is because we have 10 fingers and if everyone had 6 fingers on each hand we'd use base12 and never even think a thing of it and also math would be pretty much better in every way?

#i think for this september's existential crisis i'm gonna become a base12 truther #and bc i know everyone on this website is math illiterate so to clarify:#the way base12 works is that we have a few extra digits between 9 and 10 #so to count we go:#0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 X Y #so X = 10 and Y = 11 #then '10' = 12 #so the next step of counting goes:#10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 1X 1Y #(i know this looks insane to you but the only reason for that is because you are used to base 10 i promise this makes sense #if you throw away everything you know and come at it with fresh eyes)#so anyways in this case '11' = 13. '19' = 21. 1X = 22. 1Y = 23 #and '20' = 24 #bc the tens column is not the tens column it's actually the twelves column #so each [number] in the second column does not mean 'add [this many] 10s to this' it means 'add [this many] 12s to this'#and this would not be tricky at higher numbers bc in base12 twelve is not counted as 'ten and two' it's just its own thing #in fact it would be harder to multiply by tens bc 10 would be the equivalent of like. 8 here.#it's not its own thing (ten) it's actually 'twelve minus two'#to count by tens goes '0 Y 18 26 34 42 50' and '50' is of course 10x6 in this case so it equals 60 in base10 #not hard #there's a pattern to it.#but it's not as easy as counting by 12s #anyways we already have base12 systems and i like them they are very easy to divide #it's only harder than base10 bc arabic numerals are base10 so it's harder to depict base12 logically in a base10 system #hours are base 12. inches to feet are base 12 #anyways this post is legally classified as scifi and/or speculative fiction #or. fuck. it's not even fictional #this is how math would work in a different system #sci-nonfi #speculative nonfiction

Mmm, yes, the Phineas and Ferb Marvel crossover episodes were better than Infinity War and Endgame.

Perry got to be a superhero and save all the marvel superheroes #4. The marvel superheroes were more in character than they have been for years in the “canon” marvel movies #5. Doofenshmirtz shooting the villains with waffles which was not only funny but an effective tactic?!#6. Baljeet Hulk #7. Candace writes marvel fanfiction #8. Stan Lee being the equivalent to the cabbage merchant #9. The villain song and dance number where Doof is leading them around getting them to commit petty crimes and they slowly die inside #10. just generally the marvel villains having to seriously go to Doof. Evil Inc and get his help albeit VERY begrudgingly #11. the humor was on point and actually clever #12. did I mention Perry being a superhero #like seriously when will marvel ever have the guts to make a platypus a superhero?#anyway #point is it was funny I had fun this was enjoyable and lighthearted and I miss when marvel was like that too #ah well #at least it spawned stuff like this

This morning as I was signing into work at 8:31, with the 8:31 in 100-pt font on the lock screen, my brain went “ah yes, the Halloween Time,” and I went What? No? What? and my brain went “yes. 31. And the October Number. Ipso facto and soforth, Halloween.”

And I had to sit there for a minute staring blankly across two thousand years of space in my mind at the Roman ghost suddenly possessing my subconscious, grappling with the sudden, visceral knowledge that 8 *is* the October number, actually.

#I don’t mean I just realized that the ‘Oct’ in October is for 8. I knew that.#I mean 8 is October. January is 1. June is 6. Sept is 9 #Nov and Dec are 11 and 12.#but October is 8 #the rest don’t have numbers sorry

every once in a while I get reminded that I can do random maths in my head really easily and it almost throws me before I remember I used to want to try astrophysics until I learned how competitive it is

anyways I just saw the number 96 (as in, 96 comments on a fic) and immediately went "oh, thats... 8 times 12, right?"

#(it is 12 times 8 btw)#((which was relevant bc fic had 12 chapters which means an average of 8 comments per chapter))#its also a thing I have in common with most of my family members #we all have Opinions on the number 17 because its primary and I have Issues w primary numbers and my sister likes them #like. a few days back our other sister mentioned a number and idr what it was but like #primary numbers sister went “oh I think thats a primary number” (and it was like. 4 digit number too)#and then we all went quiet for a second and then “no no it uh. divides by 3” just. six people around the table on concensus #I think it was like. 2457 or something #I remember it ending in 7 because that both pings the primary number detector and can make numbers divide by 3 nicely #point being. the automatic maths in my brain #.... which. I mean. I count cards to play solitaire peaks in my brain like Im counting sheep sometimes #and. other times I do powers of 4 until I reach 6 digits and then I switch to powers of 13 #doing insane maths as grounding techniques is my favorite fanfic trope for a reason and that reason is because I do the same tbh #man I should still look into like. doing more math stuff. #sc has always relied on having a stong center to be the x factor #and when they dont it's a problem for them #the lineup is another thing #i think [and i'm pro uconn] starting tessa is probably a good idea #and i can't blame them for not starting watkins when kitts was doing a good job #and while i appreciate adjusting the rotations based on who is playing well #when bench players are consistently playing more or the same number of minutes as the starters it might be time to consider switching #i will say a lot of this was ucla shooting the hell out of the 3ball #and sc not letting its consistent 3pt shooters shoot #and instead going for a midrange that would not fall #sc went 8-12 which is 66.7% and ucla went 10-21 47.6%#both are very high numbers #but ucla wasn't wasting possessions and getting out rebounded when they missed #it was interesting at the end of the second or start of the 3rd tessa made a 3 and then pao pao made one #and then on like the next possession tessa had the ball at the top of the arc and if she was smart she would have called her own number #but i also wonder if there is some pass the ball mentality going on #or just a lack of wanting to win #if you look at the qtr by qtr ucla out scored them by 10 in the first and 10 in the second but it was pretty even in 3 and 4 #or rather sc outscored them by a few #but if they really wanted to make up the deficit they would have shot earlier in the clock and shot more 3s #that's how the mercury close their gaps #but instead it was almost like ucla was the one shooting early and from 3 #also at the 6 minute mark in the 4 sc got 3 fouls on one possession #and i was thinking are you really playing the foul game now? but i guess that was just 3 oopsies in a row #the thing is 15 or 20 points in 10 minutes is not insurmountable but it was like they were playing to win the quarter not the game #idk

Summary: Task Force 141 operates successfully without an omega, at least that’s what Price has been saying since its formation. Two alphas and two betas balance the pack just fine, and they have the numbers to prove it.
