CL16 | Real orgasm ♡
Summary: Y/n confess to Charles that she doesn't know what true orgasm is. And he shows her what it is.
Warning: oral (f receiving), fluff?
A/N: Hope you'll like it <3
MASTERLIST request are open
Charles sits down on her sofa, putting his feet on the coffee table. She sits next to him, putting the blanket over them.
He takes the remote and turns on the TV. ''What do we watch tonight?'' He asked her, scrolling through the thumbnails on Netflix.
She makes herself comfortable with cushions behind her back and brings her cup of tea. ''I let you choose this time.''
He sighs and keeps scrolling, sometimes reading the summary before finally putting something on.
As the movie starts, she sips her tea, passing her cup to Charles who take a sip too. They're not best friends for nothing. They have known each other since they were little and they always share everything. So him drinking in the same cup as her is certainly not a problem.
And tonight he came to her house to comfort her. Her boyfriend cowardly cheated on her then left her, like a poor toy. Charles helps her to go through this. Even when she were at her lower, he was there.
And what an irony that he put a movie where the main character cheats on her boyfriend with everyone.
''Uhm you might wanna change ?'' He asks her about the third sex scene that happens, where the main character seems really excited about the idea of getting caught.
''Mh no it's ok.'' She squeezed her thighs, wishing her boyfriend was like in the movie, who knows how to bring pleasure to a woman.
''You ok?'' He asked her, putting his hand on her thigh. He really shouldn't have done that. Despite the fact that he's her best friend, she can't control her hormones and can't help but get a little wetter.
''I..I was just thinking about the fact that I have never cum so brutally. Maybe I never cum, I don't know haha.'' He looked at her, stunned. Not because they never talk about sex. But rather by the fact that she admits to him that she has never had an orgasm.
''Was your boyfriend that bad? For never having made you cum?'' She shrugged her shoulders.
Charles finds himself blushing just thinking about Y/n, actually cumming for the first time.
''You..you want me to show you what real orgasm is ?'' He asked her, almost whispering because of his shyness.
She turned her head towards him, her cheeks red. What should she do? She's so horny now that she can't say no. But does that also mean maybe ruining their friendship?
''Y-yes... Please.'' Charles himself didn't expect her to say yes. He brings his head closer to hers, his lips a few millimeters from hers. She can feel his breath on her lips and it gives her goosebumps. She closes her eyes, hoping that Charles will make the first move, because she doesn't dare to.
Just as she was about to open her eyes again, because she thought Charles wouldn't move, his lips stuck to her. His hand slides down her neck and brings her head closer to his, deepening the kiss with small movements. He moves forward so much that she lies down on the sofa, him on top of her.
''You have to tell me now if you want to stop.'' He kisses her cheeks.
''K-keep please..'' He kisses her jaw, under her ear, her neck and her collarbone. His hands slip under her t-shirt, removing it slowly. She feels shivers down her spine when he starts to rub his hands against her waist, hips, thighs and upper ass.
She found herself moaning softly, but naturally, not faking it. His kisses tease her breasts, unclipping her bra easily. He looked up at her, as if he was asking her if he could touch it.
''You..you can..'' She whispered, shyly. One of his hands found its way to massage her breasts, licking the nipples of the other one.
Charles is a smart man. And seeing that she didn't react more than that when he teased her with her breasts, he didn't dwell on it too much.
His kisses keep going lower, until he nibbles softly in her flat belly, removing her pants gently. He takes one of her hands and places it on his hair, indicating for her to play with it.
She runs her hand through it, stroking his soft hair and playing with a few strands with her fingertips. He tries to spread her legs but she unconsciously resists.
''Don't be stressed, princess.. Is it ok if I call you princess?'' She relaxes a little and Charles manages to position himself correctly between her legs.
''Y-Yes.. I like it.'' She whines softly when she feels him blowing on her panties.
He bites his bottom lip, looking at her, full of lust and hunger. A white stain is visible through her panties and Charles wants to eat her out so badly.
As if to answer him, she lightly presses Charles' head towards her privacy. He doesn't wait for a second signal and lets his fingers slide between her folds through her panties.
''Charles !'' She moaned, surprising him and herself. He allows himself to remove her panties, seeing her completely naked in front of him.
''You're so beautiful, princess..'' She put her hand over her mouth and her eyes widened when she felt Charles's lips against her bundle of nerves. He grabs her arm that's hiding her mouth, taking her hand and intertwining his fingers with hers.
''Close your eyes and don't hold back your beautiful voice..'' She closes her eyes like Charles told her, enjoying his lips and tongue.
He makes small circles with his tongue, using his free hand to push a finger inside her. She grips his hair a little tighter, digging her nails into the skin of his hand with her other hand.
The room is filled with her moans, sounding like a melody to the ears of Charles's. He inserts a second finger, making her moan louder. She feels a sensation she has never felt. Her whole body is tense and her legs are shaking uncontrollably.
She can't help but moan, Charles moving his fingers in and out quickly, in a wet and tight song. And when her whole body relaxes, without even realizing it, she drowns Charles with her precious liquid.
Charles is proud of himself. He succeeded in his mission. He made her cum. Probably for the first time in her life, given how quickly she let it go.
He gets up from between her legs after cleaning her as best he could with his tongue. He licks his two fingers, full of her liquid and also cleans his chin with his hand.
She sits up a little straighter on the sofa, not knowing what to do.
''How was it ?'' He looked at her with a naughty smile. She blushes when she sees him like that, his hair all messy by her hand.
''Incredible.'' She finds herself blushing even more when she admits that Charles makes her feel good.
''You.. want to go further?'' She smiles tenderly at him.
''I'm sorry but I'm so tired after.. my first orgasm.'' Charles chuckled and passed to her, her clothes that were on the floor.
''Never say sorry for refusing to go further.'' He passed his hand through his hair, trying to fix it.
''Can you..Sleep with me ?'' She puts her t-shirt back on and takes out her hair with a gesture of her hands. Charles looks at her doing that, his eyes full of love.
''Of course, princess.'' He winked at him, carrying her suddenly like a princess. She clutches her t-shirt, feeling slightly afraid.
''Cha! Careful!!'' He giggles and places her on her bed.
''Do you mind if I sleep in boxers?'' She finds herself blushing again. She knows that their relationship is no longer the same now.
''No no it's ok.'' He removes his jeans and t-shirt quickly, lying down beside her. She doesn't dare to go against him, not really knowing his reaction.
''Y/n?'' He asked her with a soft voice, tucking a few strands of hair behind her ear.
''Yes Charlie?'' Her eyes are wide open, a knot in her stomach.
''Do you want to be my girlfriend?'' She turns red at his request.
''I..I would love to.'' Charles chuckles and moves his head towards her, kissing her tenderly. His hand resting on her waist, pulling her closer to him.

As Dreamworks's deal with Netflix for exclusive shows expires (they first signed a deal with Hulu for exclusives and now seem to be given shows to them and Peacock), shows have begun to leave the service en masse. However, due to the nature of staggered contracts, many of these shows will not be leaving Netflix for at least a year, while others may have several years left on the service. What's on Netflix did some calculations based on when the final seasons were added and came up with some removal dates for the shows -
Voltron: Legendary Defender (N Original)December 14, 2018 December 14, 2024
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (N Original)May 15, 2020 April 10, 2026
3Below: Tales of Arcadia (N Original)July 12, 2019 August 7, 2026
Wizards: Tales of Arcadia (N Original)August 7, 2020 August 7, 2026
Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia (N Original)May 25, 2018 August 7, 2026
There are plenty of other expiration dates on that list, but these are the big ones I noticed, mostly because they were attempts at franchise creation that fell completely flat. Voltron's big-budget Amazon movie is due for a 2025 release in a best-case scenario (worst-case scenario is more Robotech-style development hell) and with the rollout of a lot of classic Voltron merchandise including the oft-mentioned Voltron beer, the plan to erase VLD from everything come the film release is well underway. Dreamworks doesn't seem to mind, since they're still the video distributor for DOTU on behalf of World Events Productions, their name is on the Voltron beer.
She-Ra is a similar story. The franchise is also with Amazon via Dreamworks, for a live-action show directed by one of the directors of the Watchmen TV show. Hopefully, whoever plays Hordak can chew the scenery as hard as Jeremy Irons did. It probably will air sometime in 2025-2026 best case scenario as well, just in time to see SPOP eliminated from everything (something Mattel is only too happy to facilitate given their release of classic She-Ra figures for their Masterverse brand of toys).
Trollhunters was meant to be a franchise but despite a lot of big names attached to it, it went absolutely nowhere and everyone seems to have disavowed the whole thing after the ending. So it's just getting tossed to one side.
The internet means IP gets recycled and discarded faster and faster these days. And these are three examples of shows set to disappear from the face of the earth, to the glee of the license holders.

good good night - kim mingyu
pairing -> mingyu x gender neutral reader.
word count -> 0.6k
summary -> mingyu has made it a habit to bail on his friends to not spend more than even a minute than he has to, but he soon regrets it
warnings -> mentions / implied use of alcohol and drinking but that’s about it.
a/n -> this is literally the third or fourth time i've tried to publish this because tumblr loves fucking w me (it didn’t save my last drafts). anyway, i love writing these little mingyu pieces so much i might even convert it into a series or something.
the bell rings and you pause watching, even though you just started watching the movie, gathering all the snacks and drinks and finally sitting down to watch it. and you think about who it could be since you don’t have any parcel deliveries scheduled for today and neither has mingyu.. or does he?
when you open the door, it reveals not your boyfriend’s package but he, himself, standing in all his 6’3 glory.
“hey, you’re back!”
“i am,” he walks past you, almost too glad to be home.
“wait, didn’t you leave like just 2 hours ago or something? mingyu, did you bail on them again?” you ask as you slowly close the door.
he sits down on the seat next to the shoe cabinet, and removes his shoes and smiles at you. he looks drunk but not as drunk as he is everytime.
“...no I just had enough of the drinks and i was super tired and i just. wanted to be home with you,” he’s done removing the shoes and he holds out his hands, signaling you to come closer. “kinda missed you,” you wrap your arms around his neck and he pulls you further in, rubbing his nose to yours.
“aw, as sweet as that is, you know you shouldn’t bail on your friends everytime right?” he’d been doing this for the last few times, coming back too early, saying he preferred to spend his only free time, the weekends, with you. you walk up to the sofa and he joins you there after he changes into his home clothes.
“i think they were too drunk to notice. and besides, aren't you happy to have me home?” you look up and grin at him, a grin he’s kinda afraid of you, a grin that means that you have ulterior motives.
“ofcourse! trust me there's nobody happier than i am.” you play the movie you paused as eerie music starts playing. “a new horror movie just came out on netflix and i was about to start it so i'm so so happy you came home early so we could watch it together.”
mingyu attempts to get up quickly but your hands grab at his quickly and he gives you a pleading look.
“no baby, you can't escape now,”
“i think they're calling me though….”
“too late, baby,”
a bit later though, as the tv sounds go on and on filling up the empty house with the lights off, as you both lay asleep on the sofa, with your face on his chest and his hand lying limp on the floor with the remote still clasped.
he shakes awake slowly, due to some noise in the tv and struggles to slowly move the remote and turn it off without any movement because he was too scared of waking you up.
you had obliged into watching a romcom for the sake of mingyu but deep down he did feel like it was because after a jumpscare or two even you were kinda scared, not that you would ever admit it.
he strokes your hair gently so if he moves it doesn't wake you up suddenly and scare you, and then he gets up from under you as silently as possible and makes sure you're asleep, which thankfully, you are.
he steps inside the bedroom, turning on the lights and sets up the bed, complete with the blanket on the side folded away to accommodate you and then to be over you.
and he comes back, and again gently kisses your forehead before picking you up, scared that it will wake you up but sleeping on the sofa is a 2 days worth of back pain because of the cramped space and he does not want that to happen to you again.
when he lays you down, you curl up to snuggle yourself and he tucks the blanket to cover you.
admiring the scene just standing there for a bit.
and then he got into bed beside you, pulling up the covers above his shoulders and facing your side.
goodnight.

For the people who dont understand, or think the people panicking about the casting are overreacting.
Maybe I remind tall that proper East Asian representation in the show is already a mess.
East Asian background art and music but next to no traditions and customs
Western style dragons
Dragons as pets instead of literal gods (referring to the original set. I havent seen DR)
Character names, especially Lloyd who contextually should be Asian but is extremely white-coded. (Literally Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon)
Misunderstanding the Art of the Samurai and just making them girls with
mechs
Master Chen is (to some) a racist caricature
Calling things Kimono's when they're literally not. (S2 final battle suits)
Overall just not understanding what a ninja is
A many more things that are just....off
Now we let all these things slide for the most part because that's just how the show was written, and many of us were like 12 when it came out, so cultural representation didn't matter. And we all love this goofy little show.
Now think about other live actions that get things so wrong it takes you out of the story. I haven't read the school for good and evil but my sister loves it and when the movie came out and her faves looked nothing like their book descriptions it broke her heart.
Think about the first Avatar: the last airbender movie that cast a white girl as Katara. When the culture is based on the inuit people.
Percy Jackson: I love Leah Jeffries she's so fun to watch on screen, but she should be blonde. It has contextual and symbolic meaning in the book. And removing it for the sake of casting is...a choice (when my girl could literally get blonde weave from her locak beuty shop)
Jake Gylenhall as Prince Dastan in "Prince of Persia"
Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily in "Pan"
Scarlett Johanson in "Ghost in the Shell"
Johnny Depp in "The Lone Ranger"
And so many more that yall can probably pull off the top of your head.
These things can be fixed like the Netflix ATLA. But let's be honest, it's hard to trust that proper representation of the culture they'll be trying to adapt won't be railroaded by casting that doesn't fit or make any sense. Simply because Hollywood prioritizes casting star/popular actors instead of paying attention to what they are adapting. The cast may not be entirely white because is 2024 and an all white cast is extremely rare. But the fear of how badly it could fail or fall alaprt due to lazy casting choices is valid.
I'm gonna try and trust the Hagemans to do right by the characters. But like the first list above, they don't seem to understand the culture either.

My friend who hasn't seen/read Magi and all she knows about it is from what I tell her honestly has some of the most hilarious takes on the characters and show I've ever heard here's some highlights
About Ja'far "He's so.... green. I was not expecting him to be that green."
Used to mix up Alibaba and Judar, all she knew for a while was that they were my favorites and I shipped them
Constantly makes fun of Sindria, whenever we watch movies and there's a snobby character she's always like "Oh you must be from Sindria" in the most distasteful voice ever
^ Memes on Sindria ALL THE TIME now
Refers to the countries as "Not-(real place they're adjacent to)" like "Not-Eygpt" and "Not-Saudi Arabia" and "Not-Hogwarts", she just calls sindria by name though
Mixed up Kouha and Morgiana a couple times because "well they're both pink"
Makes fun of me (affectionate) for crying when Magi was taken off Netflix but also BRUTALLY roasts on Netflix for removing it
"Sinbad would have discord nitro, and discord kittens"
Hakuryuu -> Wannabe Zuko
Thought Alibaba would be one of the most thirsted-after characters after Sinbad and before Hakuryuu
#she has a tumblr but i'm not sharing the username#love her dearly she's a real homie#magi#magi labyrinth of magic#magi kingdom of magic#magi adventures of sinbad#sinbad no bouken#snb

So I know you like Marvel, DC, and Percy Jackson, but what other shows, movies, or genres to you like??? Action, horror, comedy, crime/medical dramas? If you don’t mind me asking that is .
hmmmm
so DC and PJO are definitely the big ones, and have been for years but other than that
Miss Peregrine's Home/ Peculiar Children series
greys anatomy with my sister (but i refuse to watch past season 14, there was NO reason to keep going
the owl house? a little? i still read the moringmark comics and am on the subreddit, but i'm not really active in the fandom. same goes for gravity falls. OH I NEED TO POST A GRAVITY FALLS THING ITS COOL AS SHIT!!!
throne of glass (sarah j. maas series) i love this series but oh my fucking god the fandom sucked when i was last in it. absolutely no understanding of any sort of morally gray character. i adore characters who are human and make mistakes, and from what i saw.... no one else did.
sort of merlin tv but also.... just the fanfics. i watched the first season of the actual show and then it got removed from netflix so i just read the fandom wiki and fanfiction. got into it originally because caffeinatedflumadiddle (SOSF writer) also wrote for merlin.
umbrella academy!! TV more than comics but i definitely like both. TV wise, i've not actually watched season 3 yet, but imma get there at some point.
love the true lives of the fabulous killjoys comics, don't really read the fics bc ppl conflate the fabulous four with the band and that's ick.
heartstopper! my ex gf got me into the series, but i definitely still love them now!! personally i like the show, then the novels (like solitaire!!! god i love solitaire), then the graphic novels. i love nick and Charlie (obviously) but tao is my favorite non-main character. non main being not-nick-or-charlie.
dear evan hansen. not like. a lot a lot, but i like the fics, the book was cool. not watched the musical, but listened to the songs.
hunger games!! controversial opinion but i don't really thing gale did much wrong? like he designed bombs WHILE THEY WERE IN WAR. what happened to prim was a tragedy, but one that was accidental. definitely still team everlark though.
derry girls! watch it (and rewatch it) with my family a lot. my favorite is michelle.
love both the song of achilles and circe by madeline miller, even if they're not historically accurate (moreso the circe there...) honestly, love a lot of mythological retellings-- daughters of sparta is another really good one.
speechless (tv) is great! watched it mainly for the nonverbal rep, ray is definitely my favorite character. fun fact, my mum was in a mums group with minnie driver.
everything's gonna be okay! also watched for rep (this time just autism in general) and also love it. drea is my favorite character.
coraline!!! holy shit i love coraline. book and movie. favorite animated movie by far.
my sister's keeper is a great book. not watched the movie, but i love the book.
girl in pieces is a great book.
i watched fate the winx saga, that was good
school spirits!! can't wait for season 2
okay also, nonfiction/poetry wise
i adore richard siken. he's a wonderful poet. i like crush more than war of the foxes, and i can't wait for the next collection to come out!! seriously ask me about his poetry, i could go on for ages-- i've got favorite quotes, favorite poems, everything.
black girl, call home (and other poems by the author) jasmine mans is great. i am white, so disclaimer there, i probably shouldn't speak as to the racial poetry, but i definitely enjoy her queer and sexual assualt poetry.
a couple of others i can't pull up rn
night by elie wiesel. genuinely guys, usually i don't like nonfiction, but i read this book for english nine YEARS ago, and it was such a beautiful book that i bought it when the unit was over. it's absolutely horrific, but.
radium girls by kate moore. was my special interest for years and years and years, and still definitely a comfort book.
genres?
honestly for books i just wander through barnes and noble and see what strikes my fancy
it really depends on my mood, like, i have tv shows/movies for background noise while i do homework/chores, tv shows/movies for when i'm trying to fall asleep, ones to watch with other people, ones to watch by myself...
i like watching a lot of documentaries. on Netflix, i recommend keep sweet pray and obey, brain on fire, athlete a, the volcano: rescue from whaakari, and take care of maya. also, i can't remember the name, but the boston marathon massacre one.
also, hannah gadsby? great comedian 10/10 recommend. i've loved the shows since the first came out in 2018. not watched the most recent ones yet. also rec the book.
i guess mainly action and fantasy. and then documentaries, and sometimes medical dramas.
medical drama wise i've watched greys anatomy, house, new amsterdam, parts of the good doctor, and the first couple of episodes of scrubs.
OH FOR MY BOOK PEOPLE IF YOU'RE EVER IN CHICAGO, GO TO EXILE IN BOOKVILLE ITS WONDERFUL!!
everytime i go to chicago i go to exile in bookville. if yall want the website link,
sorry this got so over the top lol

my server vs netflix
Long post for a few mutuals who asked about this 🏴☠️
Netflix (according to the geeks on server forums -- so this could be off a bit) has individual servers that hold about 100TB of data each, and Netflix claims they have around 18,000 servers worldwide.
Netflix has about 3000 movies and 1800 TV shows available in the United States at any given time. It varies in other countries, but is similar.
This is my server below (pen for size comparison and purple sticky note covering the super bright blue light that bores into my brain)
It's got 5 drive bays, and right now I have 60TB of storage space in it (meaning it's just a little smaller than one of Netflix's servers), and only 37TB of which is currently used. I can easily expand with add-on bays once I fill up the 60TB.
I currently have 4470 movies and 862 TV series, all with closed captioning that I've curated and about 100 of the TV shows have bonus scenes and specials included.
My server cost me about $2700: $1200 for the 5-bay box and the rest was spent on hard drives over the course of 2 years -- 5 inside the server and 6 backup drives. I bought good drives when they were on sale.
I spent another $300 on a range extender for my house so mom and dad could watch in their bedrooms without interruption.
My home internet costs $50 a month and I'm able to serve friends and family in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. It's not always accessible (sorry Australia and your shitty internet), but it's up most of the time.
I never take movies/TV shows off of my server, and all the TV shows have their original DVD soundtracks, so nobody has to worry I'm going to remove their faves or ruin soundtracks.
I take requests from anyone, adding it when I find it with no judgement on content.
I don't charge anyone for using my server, and yet I'm paying less than I used to for internet and streaming services.
My payments for internet and streaming for my business and two family houses (Charlie's house and my house) used to be $900 A MONTH ($450 of it was the business internet because ISPs gouge businesses even though the internet usage at the shop is less than home).
Just before I quit Cox Internet, they were about to raise the cost and my new total would've been $1000 per month.
My monthly payments are now $220 for internet service and streaming services. So within just a few months, the server paid for itself.
I still have YouTube TV, Netflix x2 (one for each house), Hulu, and Discovery+.
I'm not saying the average person can set this up, but I want to make it clear that streaming services aren't the mysterious, unknowable magic that people think they are.
They're just servers (hard drives) with data on them and a good internet connection.
Anyone can set up a home server. You don't need a $1200 box like mine. Even an old computer/laptop or single hard drive will work.
A brand new 2TB good-quality hard drive that could hold about 1000 movies or 60-80 TV series would only cost $60 plus another $29 for a basic enclosure/case. (I bought mine from NewEgg for backups)
I use Plex as my media server program. It has a free version and a paid version. I bought the lifetime pass on sale for $90. It goes on sale 2-3 times a year. There are other programs out there too, including Kodi, which has a Netflix skin so it looks like you're using Netflix.
Plex and other programs like it already have a huge library of metadata, so I didn't have to create my own cover art or fill in any other information other than title & year for movies or title + season + episode number for TV shows.
Careful naming of files and sorting in properly-named folders is all you need to have this:
It took me about 3 months to download and organize most of the movies and TV shows in between working and taking care of my home/family. Now I update the server once a week and it takes about 2 hours a week to download/update new TV shows and movies.
I wasn't able to torrent when I had Cox Internet, but the new $50/month ISP doesn't give a shit. Even so, I use a VPN, which is $9 a month just in case they ever decide to get touchy about torrenting.
The server does regular maintenance on itself, and I have backups of everything.
I realize not everyone has the tech skills to set something like this up, but even if one tech person in the family or circle of friends has the ability, they could serve around 60 people.
The most I've had streaming at one time was 10 separate people watching different things, and my server handled it with no problem.
Others on the server forum claim they've maxed out around 25 people simultaneously watching, but 60 people is the number suggested because not everybody will watch at the same time.
Streaming, as it currently works, does NOT support anyone related to the creation of TV shows and movies.
Hopefully this will change, but even if it does, that doesn't change the fact that I can easily support creators myself by buying their DVDs, merch, going to cons, and donating to them or their projects directly.
Right now, pirating movies and TV shows doesn't hurt creators because streaming services and big studios are the main villains, and if all you did was donate $5 to your favorite TV show/movie, you'd be giving them more than if you streamed their content as many times as you wanted each month on a big streaming service.
I have movies and TV shows on my server that aren't even available from content creators anymore due to greedy CEOs and execs who dump their content for tax breaks.
If more people switched to using their own servers, MAYBE it would scare the greedy assholes into paying content creators what they deserve, but in the meantime it's a great way to enjoy content that was created to be shared and to support the creators.
EDIT: I need to add that streaming a TV show/movie as much as possible in the first few weeks of the release date DOES help the show get renewed and the movie execs are more likely to buy future movies, so please stream as much as possible then to help content creators. After that time is up and the streaming service moves on, then it's totally fine to pirate.

How do you feel about the dn demo musical depiction’s of Light? Specifically this song where’s the justice, just out of curiosity!
oh man, this is hard for me, and i'm definitely in the minority here. this literally could be just said yes or no but i also cannot not write 100 paragraphs:
i've kind of avoided it really addressing any LA adaption of DN (the best imo was the one that came out when i was in HS but the big deal about that was that the english cast actually did the dub for it and it was a theater release, i also wasn't looking for "good content", i was looking for more death note content in america when streaming wasn't as accessible, manga had to be illegally torrented or bought from a bookstore, etc. i come from a different time of media in a way than what a kid these days would go into. my nephew just got into death note and watched the whole thing right away, whereas i was waiting for releases of episodes and books thus having to sub in any content while i waited for the real thing.
i think childhood restrictions versus as an adult, i can stream any specific death note content i want basically at any time, makes a huge difference in how i perceived this media, thus why i'd "give the original a pass" but even that is ... i mean, it changes a lot, i don't know if light was cast correctly (though i don't really mind their L, i do like that actor so maybe that's a bias thing idk) but basically ... i don't really like any iteration that's live-action of any series that is typically animated. yes, there are exceptions, i think also that there is a divide in animated media of like "this would translate well to the screen in a live adaption format" versus "this looks goofy as hell, we can't make it realistic without diluting it but we can't stay true to the source material without pushing it into almost a goofy uncanny valley scenario that takes away central focus". take a series like ... idk, dbz. that's so hard to make live-action. now, take death note. that should be so easy, ryuk is the most complicated part of this project imo, like most of this story is just two guys' inner narratives fighting (stares into the void of the silence that is death note if you remove the narrative). yet, it always fails, or just never lands, or stays in japan only, etc. americanized versions flop or are taken off the table before they're allowed to really make it through any production. even the bioshock live-action adaptions have been promised for forever (don't get me started on this one haha).
is this to say that i think no animated material should be translated to live-action? not necessarily. but if it was supposed to be live action in the first place, why is the media of animation even necessary? some stories, to me, have to be animated in the way some stories have to be games or have to be novels or have to manga or have to be movies. adaptions are great, i get that, but like ... they usually just miss the mark. it's so rare to get a "live one".
like, ouran should have been easy to make a live-action, but so many of them have failed. arguably, the stage play is solid, which also ... ouran kind of lends itself to that, right? i'm not really considering stage plays as a whole. imo they always have better casting at least aesthetically and the props / costuming / etc is always superior. the yyh live action stage play is way more structurally sound in its aesthetics than the netflix adaption.
here is also my problem generally with other people taking properties in general and remaking them: they're always through a fan's eyes. that's great, i love fans, but also, sometimes i think it's almost better ot have someone that isn't a fan. it allows the lens of fanon to disappear, the fog of headcanon or "i think". sure, some adaptions have had the creators come back, even the original casts, but it's always awkward, isn't it? why is that? because that creator has not cared or touched that property save for some promo images maybe yearly or some callbacks or something because they have moved on. coming back? they aren't in the mindset they were writing it originally. they'll likely want to rewrite and change things. sure, it's "canon" because it's that author, but their intent is likely different now, or they just simply cannot remember the series the way they used to.
so that brings me here:
i was also never a theater person, my taste in musicals is kind of weird maybe or just small ... but getting more diverse bc of otter who lettered in theater LOL so i have more understanding of like what is theater especially compared to like ... what is movie production and tv show production, etc, then splitting into animation versus live action, so. now we're here:
the actual musical. i think that most retellings of death note really just cannot capture yagami's character be it in the acting or the intention. he is written so specifically by ohba and drawn so specifically by obata which is then translated into an animated style that's supposed to reference obata (it falls in that early 2000s thing, give it a pass rip) and basically, aside from maybe glossing up the ending a bit in a way that i think is pretty pivitol (yagami is given no pity in the manga, he's put down more honorably in the anime, which idc about i like that he barks like a dog and cries in the manga, but what i like in the anime is the scene where his dying self passes his younger self ... it's very intense to me). so, then you take mamoru's interpretation of yagami, the first one we get that isn't just text, and it's literally perfect. brad comes in second and nails it. they are arguably different yet so similar, i describe brad as accurately making yagami sound more natural in english than most can when relying on a japanese source. he just gets it, and he intentionally does emulate mamoru. i've spoken to him about this actually.
now, while i might not be a huge theater musical person, i love music. it's my main inspiration! i listen to it daily, it's a huge part of my life, and i'm not a musician at all.
lyrically, i get it. it's a little pointed, but i understand the message. it's fine as a song on its own, it's not like bad to me, but i have such a hard time seeing light as a character that sings. ironically, mamoru and brad can both sing (mamoru sings a lot in his roles, but think tamaki from ouran, while brad was in a band for a long time!). so, in a way, it's not really right or wrong for me to say one way or another that light is a bad singer or a good singer. i can see him having to go to karaoke socially, so maybe he is a good singer, or picks songs just in his range to "appear good enough" to get the pass a pretty boy.
overall, i'm not like anti musicals, nor am i anti-stage plays of anime because i think they're very pretty to look at and some (like mp100's for example) have huge creator input (and he is fresh off that project or was at the time) with like actual mob's VA (who the creator has said is mob) playing mob in the stage play with content that is considered basically exclusive but canon, like they "did something" with that whole stage play to add to the experience of mp100 and made each show different, so like, go all the way or not, right? again, kny, every anime has had a stage play, and typically you'll just see higher production in japan, but i also come from a time where i was pirating live action cutie honey and mirrored animated lucky star on youtube before it was "youtube" as we know it, so maybe my experiences are so specific that it's hard for me to adapt.
i'm so manga and anime focused that it's hard for me to sit here and say "well, i disparage these versions" but i can be at least honest and say that none have (to me) held a candle to the original property. how can you? it's old now, so it's nostalgic, and it's iconic, so it has a lot going for it.
i actually also have to somewhat contradict myself here, i think if ohba went all in maybe something could happen because we see such solid continuity in the one-shots we get every 100 years from him, so idk. this is a rare thing to have, i think. like, look at rumiko and the follow-up series to inuyasha. she's done with inuyasha, so she didn't go back. eithe way, i don't think it would have landed well regardless if she was on the project.
tl;dr: it's not necessarily "for me" but i'm not anti any DN content. i'm just manga first, then anime second for my inspo. if i wasn't, i might go insane keeping track of the details of every iteration, especially playing not only the MC but also other characters (especially BB, he changes depending on where you're sourcing him from, which is why the novel is one of the few fanon pieces i accept as canon bc they make a point to mention it in the anime when it originally listed as "that case" in the manga when L refers to naomi and he working together in the past).
i get why we want more ... but i am also a person who's like "i've seen the story told the way it was intended, it was good the way it was, i liked it as it was, and it's okay for things to end". i'm like this with remakes, too. it's rare that a remake is necessary to me. but i understand the appeal as a logical person, it doesn't not make sense to me why it's a draw in for a crowd.
#yagami tbt#headcanon tbt#chimerameat#does this even make sense SOBS#i don't want to sound elitist or snobby im just weird as hell#and delusional

Haha oh hey there didn't realize you were there. Well how long were you there? Oh haha no matter. I got your favorite flavor of popsicle. Blue Raspberry! Removed the wooden stick and everything for you. Oh yep yep, bowl and spoon right here haha. Always one step ahead aren't you. That's cool yeah yeah cool. Oh my? No I had mine earlier haha. Yeah Banana flavored. You wanna watch a dhow or something? Speaking of Netflix didya hear about its stock? Yeah dropping like flies. Oh wow you finished your popsicle already! Do you want another? No? Ok. Yes I remember. Doctor said only one a day. I just thought maybe you wanted another. Hey do you wanna go for a drive? I feel like going 35 down the highway. No yeah my car got out of the shop last Monday. Picked it up right when they opened. Got some potatoes while I was out too. Made some mashed potatoes, turkey gravey, popcorn chicken. Delish!! Well I did have leftovers but I ate it all already. Last Monday remember haha. You silly goose. Anyways, I think Jerma is live right now? Streaming the new Percy Jackson game, apparently it has a lot of bugs. No yeah, the game was adapted from the movie so you know it's gonna be bad. I heard no voice actors would even touch it so they just got game devs to do all the voices. Surprisingly the sound effects are top notch. Ok sick yeah, let me just plug the HDMI into my laptap. Oh sick! We're in the prestream. Think we could do a one guy moment? Haha yeah yeah, I heard they're al scripted. No yeah, Jerma and Ster have a game where Ster will use fake accounts to send messages and Jerma has to guess which messages are Ster's. Yeah I know right, with how fast that chat moves it's hard to read even a single message. I kinda wanna go on a drive right now. But like, not really you know? Sometimes the car just beckons to me. The exhaust? No that's so weird. Hey wanna know what that reminded me of though. When I was a kid I threw a rock at my friend's head and sent him to the hospital. He came back the next day but then I moved houses. Haha yeah I still feel kinda bad about it. Wait what did Jerma just say? Ahha no way! That's gonna be nominated for best one guy moment for sure! What's that? Oh yeah for sure that was Ster haha. I don't actually believe that by the way, just a funny conspiracy theory. Isn't your dad into some weird conspiracy theories? Uh huh, yeah. No yeah how can people fall for that haha. That's crazy, could you even imagine how crazy that would be hahahaha. Hey you know what why don't I get some icecream. I'm thinking Mint Chocolate Chip, you? Yeah ok sounds good. I'll run to the store and be right back.
20 days later
Happy Wednesday Mom! Humpday!! Woooo! Yeah ahaha!
6 Hours later
Hey I'm home, how are you? Oh no! Tell me about it. Ah well fair enough, I had an alright day. Saw my mom earlier. We just chatted, surprisingly pleasant. Well of course not, you know how they are. Different generation and all that junk. Junk inside your trunk. Yeehaw! Those are some horses. Horses run very quickly even though their legs are like a finger, or however that fun fact goes. Did you know that there are different sizes of infinity? Like the whole set of integers, you know n+1 where n is the current number. All the numbers you would reaxh using that expression. Countably Infinite. What is uncountably infinite is all real numbers. So that would include numbers with decimals and stuff. Cause 1.0 is a number and 1.1 is a number and 1.01 is a number and 1.001 is a number and 1.0001 is a number and so forth. You can't even get to 2. It's that big. How crazy is that! While yeah numbers and counting and shit is like, made up by humans it's still cool. Sven if it has no practical real world use. Though maybe that's just me being autistic. If you made it this far tag your friends! No but yeah, I'm just a quirky trans girl just living it up in the big city! Not a care in the world! I sometimes look out the window with my cat when he chirps. Try to see what he sees. He's a little orange fella. Real cute. Mostly birds you know? Sometimes we talk him out for a walk, just around the neighborhood. Put his collar, vest, and leash on.
Ons time in a walk he fisted a hole in a tree and a bird flew out. It was so crazy! I have a final I should be working on, but I like tip typing away at my phone. Like a little movie script. Haha would it be funny if I asked my boyfriend to proofread all of this. Haha that would be so crazy. I want this post to be longer. My goal was to make this like, the length of color of the sky. You know? The type of post that just takes a while to scroll past. I might have to just put it in my drafts and add on later. This is the end of the first time I add to this
Bro it's like 2 years later how crazy is that. Fuck fuck ufkc fuck fuck duck dick fuck fuckd ducm hahhahaba FUCK YOU A grape what even is that. Raisins my ass we kill plants in this ass. Root and all I just go into the woods and start pulling them up. Don't even harvest them I just like this is FALSE I DO NOT go into the nature by myself and I largely leave nature alone. I think I watched The Original Jumanji too young and now plants scare me kinda. Mushrooms too but that's from Ben 10 I think. Fucked up you know. I could be enjoying way more different types of food but I can't. Ok back to the single sided conversation.
Hey man long time no see. Still on the 1 a day popsicle regime? Yeah I hear you man BIG pharma really sucks you in. Not that being on pills forever is bad it just sucks that it's such a strain on the individuals finances. No man I'm not a cuck that was one time. Well sure I like watcjing people kiss but anyone who likes romance movies would be a cuck then. Wait are you a cuck? Yeah ok whatever man. Anyways, wanna watch some Narnia readings on youtube? I know this one guy that just recorded all the words in the books alphabetically and just plays each word as needed. No not really, that'd be way too much work. I... yeah, I know. I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to be like this. This wasn't what this was supposed to be like. You, you never were supposed to get diagnosed with popsicle-itus. That's on me. I love you. I'll stay with you
FUCKING SIKE bitch ass get FUCKED bro I melted a popsicle and out it in your drink and now you're gonna DIE. That's what you get for fucking my mom man. Little BITCH! Oh yeah, btw I don't even like Mint Chocolate Chip. Suck on those grapes fucker. Of course I'll hold your hand. You'll wake up tomorrow and I'll find you.
Baited lul
#unreality#any typos wre not fixed intentionally I don't even CARE BRO#Ok I love you thanks for reading!

When streaming killed cinema
When streaming killed cinema,
John Kasdan had promised a season 2, indicating that Willow was not canceled but hatus. He even wanted to bring back Val Kilmer. Now he agree to remove the series from Disney+. What are we to make of this ?
He has always said loud and clear that Willow was a childhood dream and that he was determined to finish its 3 seasons and even make it into a movie. He started working on this project in 2017. He wrote the character of Jade for Erin Kellyman when they met on the set of the film: Solo A Star Wars Story. A film he directed with his father.
Willow, the series, was full of hope for an entire community and for many other people. It doesn't matter what community we belong to. It's a series full of positive messages. For the first time, we discover a queer princess. A princess unlike any Disney princess to date. We discover courageous, strong female characters who learn to discover and love each other awkwardly. For the first time, we discover a queer romance that's not sexualized, but romantic, that emerges as the story unfolds, and that everyone accepts and doesn't judge. Unlike all Disney tales, here it's not a prince who saves a princess, but the other way around.
Willow joins all those series whose end we'll never know: The romance between Kit and Jade, the romance between Elora and Grayon, Graydon's past and childhood. Will Airk live up to his father's legacy? Will Madmartigan find his daughter Kit? Is Dark Elora Elora, torn between good and evil, or is she the new Crone? So many unanswered questions. And leave wounded fans with an emptiness in their hearts.
When, in 2020, the whole world came to a standstill and we all found ourselves trapped in our own homes, deprived of our freedom and our loved ones because of COVID, streaming platforms exploded. Taking over the film market, but destroying it in the process. Production after production, quantity without quality. Responding to strong online demand. Making promise after promise. Such was their power that even the great actors signed up with Netflix and Disney to produce their films, which were no longer shown in cinemas, and continued to work in this way afterwards. Real cinema as we had known it began to die out step by step.
The world began to go out again, to live, but everything had changed, both the people and society. Step by step, we returned to the theaters, in search of the cinema of the pre-Covid era.
The platforms continued to want to own everything, like Disney, buying LucasFilms, Marvels and exploiting again and again a franchise that everyone adored, including an audience that grew up with it. Today, this franchise has lost its soul.
Productions have continued, but audiences have grown tired of the overexposure. Nowadays, platforms have become the "kings" of the film industry, calling the shots. Denigrating and destroying the work of an entire crew.
The entire Willow team spent 9 months filming in Wales. It was a tiring and testing shoot. They all gave their all to their roles. Not to mention the month-long boot camp. The costumers, who made beautiful costumes representative of each character. The sets, Kenneth, the fights, the special effects…
Today, nothing is respected any more, whether it's the work of an entire crew, the actors, the scriptwriters (without them, there'd be no story, no films and no series), or, most importantly, the subscribers, the fans. Who are left with the emptiness of losing their favorite characters, their story and living their adventures with them. It's like having a piece of their soul ripped away. But the stories will continue through everyone's fan fiction.
Many people expected this series, this romance, to see Warwick Davis back in the role of a lifetime.
Let's not forget, before they're actors, they're human beings.
No one should have to fight to be represented, listened to and continue to see their favorite series.
Today's cinema is not representative of society. It's shaped by money-hungry financiers.
If cinema were run by people who acted with their heart and soul, then many great stories would continue to exist and be created

MUMMIES (2023) | REVIEW
OVERVIEW: An Ancient Egyptian charioteer, Thut, now a mummy in the afterlife, is unwillingly engaged to fellow mummy, Princess Nefer, after Ra's phoenix bird chooses him. On pain of losing his eyes and tongue, Thut must protect the engagement ring until the wedding, until British archeologists find the ring in a burial site and put it up in a museum. Desparate to not face punishment, Thut, his little brother Sekhem and his pet crocodile Croc, and Princess Nefer venture out into the world of the living, now in the 21st Century to get the ring back.
RATING: 6/10. i thought it was funny personally, but i wish there was more egyptian mythology references... -2 points for bad music, and a further -2 points for not providing better explanatory scenes that would have helped an unfamiliar audience become more familiar with the beauty that is Ancient Egyptian mythology.
AVAILABLE: netflix
THINGS I LIKED:
YAY MORE EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY IN MEDIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH OF IT
loved the whole concept of "21st centuries guys open up the tomb and unleash mummies" except they're not monsters, they're literally just people.. i loved the idea of the underworld being connected to the world of the living; i think it was in line with egyptian mythology the idea of the next life..
the mummies looking liking skeletons when caught on camera or in the light lmfao... cute idea i think!!
i might be reading to much into it, but i think the film did a good job of exploring the morality of archeology; like, for the 21st century people in the film, they were all very excited to find an item from Ancient Egypt intact, which of course, is essential for learning from history, but when they removed the item and sent it all the way to England, it was like-- for these people who believed in life after death and the importance of being buried with their possessions, their afterlife kind of just got shattered because you took their possession... so idk, it was a simple plot but a good conversation to have.
mythology references; Nefer's wedding ring was Hathor's sun disk with the cow horns which we all know is Hathor's symbol.. and it made perfect sense for Hathor to be the symbol on the ring since she's the goddess of love.
there was a phoenix that was meant to choose Nefer's husband... there are phoenixes in Egyptian mythology, and they were associated with Ra.. i THINK the movie called it the Phoenix of Ra, which i think is awesome (yay Ra reference!!!), and since Ra is associated with Hathor, i think he was the right reference to use.
Sekhem is also depicted in the beginning of the film with a boomerang-- boomerangs were found in ancient tombs, so there's that idea of the possessions moving with the deceased into the next life again!
the mummies trying to start a car by sitting on the roof and kicking it like a horse lmfaooo-- they had no idea what the hell a car was or how it ran, and i think that was perfect.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE / MADE NO SENSE:
a lot of the plot concerned Nefer finding "freedom" in the 21st century that she didn't have in the after life, particularly, in the after life, she wasn't allowed to sing... but music, as it is for many cultures, was very important in Ancient Egypt as demonstrated by wall engravings... and both men and women could play music/sing.. the highest musical status you could have was to be a temple musician.. so, i'm not an expert, but i find it very hard to believe that an Egyptian princess would be told "stop singing, it's not ladylike"...
i wish there had been MORE myth references T-T so much of the film was set in the modern world, and i guess it had to be, but it felt like the film only borrowed a few minor Ancient Egyptian elements and then made up the rest to suit their agenda :((
also, i couldn't find much about what actually happened in the Duat, but i would assume that you might be reunited with loved ones or something like that... but the fact that Nefer had to get married confused me because they're already dead... it's not as though one day her father would die and she'd become Pharaoh or something.. i think? idk. the film didn't really explain the Duat at all which i think sucks especially if you're not familiar with Ancient Egypt.
i feel like there were probably more things but i watched this film sometime ago and i can't remember anymore T-T

The Untamed/Actors
Okay. I finally watched The Untamed and I really cannot stop watching the series.
A few weeks ago, I was bored enough to watch the show. First, let me say that it wasn't because I harbored any negative thoughts. See, I've heard of the show for awhile now. However, my version of remembering is someone telling me one of the mains dies. Well, I'm not a fan of sad endings so I refused to watch the series for the longest time. It's been sitting in my Netflix cue for awhile. Possibly a month before, I'd watched Word of Honor and before that Alchemy of Souls which meant I was pretty desperate for something new in the fantasy world (and besides I love a man with long hair). Ha.
Anyway, I somehow came across someone advertising the story on TikTok so I found the book and couldn't put it down. Took me a few days to read through (mostly because I have a person in my life who demands attention). No excuses left except to watch the series.
I was a bit sidetracked at first. I mean, there are some things that are the same and others completely different. I'm old enough to know the reason why they didn't include the actual couple coupling. I wasn't even upset about that and even though I was thrown off by the scenes of WWX with Qing. I understood where they were coming from too. I didn't understand why they changed the other elements of the story: the yin iron pieces, WWX genius, "the sword (they removed the body parts and I was really looking forward to a headless man chasing the junior disciples around). Sadly this meant removing a lot of the funny, jaw dropping parts too.
Either way, although some aspects took longer, I really liked this series. I'm really bummed it took me years to watch it. I feel like I missed all the hype, but then again I think Covid snuck up on this show too and they had to stop promotions afterward. I'm glad that of the research I've done the show did so well.
The relationship between LZ and WY in the book and show makes me want to scream. Honestly, both can be appreciated in different ways. Watching the show, again I wasn't disappointed with the character representation or their relationship.
A plus was I never gave JC a second thought while reading the book and even started to dislike him. The JC on the show gave me all the feels.
The Actors
I found out the main leads for WWX and LZ can actually sing. They're so good. The past week or so they did a show and I was able to hear them. I went down the rabbit hole after that. I didn't even know they sung the theme to The Untamed. I should've probably looked it up, but at the time I was too obsessed with the beautiful flute(?) playing to pay much attention to the singing.
Now, I'm in the process of discovering if I'm going to be a new fan.
Sidenote and complete digression. BTS it hasn't even been a full year and I'm already falling in love with new people. My heart was supposed to belong to them only. End of sidenote.
I've found other shows with the actors in them to try and discover if I actually like them or it's the hair and the story. I thought I liked actors before and then I just had a hard time being interested when I see them without hair. Sadly, I started watchin Xiao Zhan's new show and he unfortunately has hair so I'm still in love. Although, I found his other show Oath of Love and I'm going to check that out, but I think I should wait. I don't know if I should watch two shows at the same time with the same person. How will I ever know it's true?
His new show "The Longest Promise" is interesting, but I'm not sure how to feel about it right now. I'm taking my time so I'm only on episode five. Important note about me is I always choose streaming because I hate waiting for shows to come on. I know these are supposed to come out daily, but still. Normally, I'm the type of person to wait until everything's out to watch it.
I even found Legend of Fei with Wang Yibo, and he also has hair. I know he has another movie called Hidden Blade (I think), but I was unable to find that one.
Well, I will be digesting their other shows to see if I want to jump into new fandoms. Who am I kidding? I'm already in the shallow end.

Me, currently
Tagged by @moosefrog
Fave color: I like teal and other bluish-green hues.
Currently reading: For getting myself to sleep, Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett whose narrative voice is my most soothing lullaby. I'm also reading Peplum by Amélie Nothomb and it's absolutely unhinged (as should be expected from this writer). I just finished The Last Wish (first Witcher book) by Andrzej Sapkowski, which I found fun to read (especially for a translation) and am going to pick up the next book soon.
Last song: Several songs of Hozier's new album are living rent-free in my brain right now. Basically it's "Francesca", "De Selby" (both parts but especially Pt 1) and "First Light" filling my brain with music and it was great at first but it's getting annoying now (I hate it when my brain hyperfocuses on songs, even if I love those songs).
Last series: Erm I still haven't got through S3 of The Witcher on Netflix but I'm about halfway there and I'm enjoying it. Before that I watched S2 of Good Omens and I have been sitting on my hands trying not to say anything about it. Basically, it wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been for an old Pratchett fan.
Last movie: Netflix told me The Breakfast Club was going to be removed soon and it's an 80ies classic I'd never seen. It sounded fun, so I watched it last week. Definitely plunged me back into the 80ies, but also, as a teacher I felt it's still pretty valid in the way it depicts teenagers (even if the actors look like they're pushing 30).
Currently working on: Nothing at the moment. I'm barely awake when I'm not at work or preparing stuff for work. My greatest non-work-related achievement lately was making a bunch of Sims which I will probably never have the time/energy to play.
Tagging: anyone else who wants to do this!

[ ID: tweet by RobertFreundLaw from 15 March, 2024, and legal attachment, which read:
If you "buy" a digital movie on Amazon, but Amazon removes the movie from its library when Amazon's license expires, did you really buy it? Amazon faces a false advertising class action about this issue, and today, it lost its motion to dismiss the case.
Like the courts mentioned above, this Court concludes that Plaintiffs have sufficiently alleged that the word “buy” regarding Digital Content could be materially misleading to the reasonable consumer. Suppose, for example, a consumer “bought” Barbie and Oppenheimer for $19.99 each from Amazon, anticipating having a “Barbenheimer” weekend event. But after watching Barbie, she finds Oppenheimer now unavailable because Amazon suddenly lost its license to the film. Not sublime! Understandably, this consumer “might feel a little miffed [or go nuclear] if she were told that she received exactly what she paid for.” McTyere, 663 F. Supp. 3d at 254. Thus, drawing all inferences in Plaintiffs’ favor at this stage, the Court concludes that reasonable consumers might be misled by the term “buy,” and Plaintiffs have sufficiently alleged that Amazon’s terms were materially misleading.

everyone: please stop paying money to "buy" digital copies of media. for example, if you lease a car, you're essentially renting it long-term, but if you buy it, it's yours. why should any other item you buy be different?
if you want a digital copy of media, those usually come free with most DVD/Blu-Ray purchases (even with some music CDs, which are easy to make a digital backup, regardless), which you get to actually own and even resell later. just like a car
if you just want to stream something that might go away without notice, streaming services exist. how Amazon has gotten away with charging extra for selling streaming content they tell users they're "buying," in addition to charging for streaming content via their Prime Video charges, is a mystery. especially when said content will eventually disappear when their temporary license to show it expires
before Amazon and Netflix etc killed the video-rental industry, you could go to a store like Hastings or whatever and either buy a new movie (for, say, $15), buy it used (for, say, $8), or rent it (for, say, $1.99). if Amazon wants to charge extra for shows they don't want to include in their Prime Video, they could rent them for a buck or so more, not charge as much as it might cost to actually own a copy that you can re-watch any time in the future, but not actually deliver you a copy your own
if you want to buy buy media, only pay for something you will actually own. you can always rip a personal copy of physical media for backup use to play through your computer or phone if you prefer, but you do not own something that can be taken away
side (but closely related) note: why in the actual fuck do we let game companies get away with "selling" us games without physical media and which require connection to the company servers to play? that's called renting, folks, not buying

for one of my final posts of the year, i thought i'd do a year in review of my favorite books/movies/albums/tv shows of 2024 (click these links to see my 2023 and 2022 ones 🫶). they're so fun to look at in the future therefore this is now a new tradition that i must continue!!!!!
first i'll start with my favorite books...because this year i read more books than i ever expected to (here's a link to my books i've read in 2024 post if you want to see "more detailed" thoughts on these books + others that didn't make my top 9!)
*i only picked one emily henry book and decided on her most recent one but i NEED it to be known that i also adore people we meet on vacation, which i also read this year!!!! **i also picked one elsie silver book from her cowboy romance series (my ranking of them: reckless > powerless > heartless > flawless > hopeless)(if you even care fjdjfjdj) ***lovelight farms is quite possibly my favorite romance series of all time therefore i picked the first book because it is the name of the series....but i simply could never rank those four books bc i think they're all masterpieces in their own way
And now! for The Albums. 2024 what an incredible year you have been!!!! the music i have been blessed with!!!! i adore each of these so much!!!!
*honorable mention to guts (spilled) by olivia rodrigo....those bonus tracks (SO AMERICAN!!!!!!!) are some of my most listened to BUT since it's just a deluxe of a previously released album i didn't include it in the pictures **and i'd like to include the statistic that my most streamed taylor albums (ttpd excluded bc duh it's my most streamed of all her albums this year) were 1989 tv, red tv, and lover 🩵❤️🩷)
MOVIES MY BELOVED. i watched so many incredible new 2024 releases and finally got to remove a lot of older movies from my watchlist....twas a successful movie watching year for me 🙂↕️
*these are technically ranked but like. they're all 5 or 4.5 stars so basically perfect in my eyes and i love them all sm and ranking them was soooo difficult
the movies above are exclusively 2024 releases but the next set are my fav movies not released in 2024 that i also watched this year (pls tell me that makes sense)
*the nice guys being might be my number one movie overall i watched it on my birthday and like. my life was CHANGED. I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. IT IS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
this year wasn't....great for me in terms of new tv shows idk i feel like i read so much that i didn't have a ton of new tv that i loved (like. i still haven't finished this years love island uk season??? AND I LOVE THAT SHOW???? idk what happened!!!!)
*yes i did fall victim to the watching the formula 1: drive to survive netflix series to actually starting to watch f1 races pipeline!!!! happy to be here!!!!!
anyways that's all!!!!! this was v fun to make (sorry about any typos fjshfhfh) ok gonna maybe reblog some things and then eat more food and maybe watch a movie idk idk idk. and of course: HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRRR 🎆🥂
#i love you books i love you music i love you movies i love you tv shows I LOVE YOU MEDIA CONSUMPTIONNNNNN#may 2025 bring me even more wonderful things to read and watch and listen to 🙂↕️ I CANT WAIT!!!!!#2024 favorites#year in review#jobazzle
