I apologize in advance for how long this might be. As a reminder, I don't bash games here so even if I hated something with every fiber of my being...I ain't sharing. As a second reminder, my more in depth reviews and live blogging has moved to Gem's Game Gems so I don't clutter the HBG's main blog. Okay. ON WITH THE REVIEW!!

DEMOS

Diffraction (Demo)- A rainy day otome indeed. I love the quiet gentleness of this game, the two romance options, and the fact that our MC is a photographer and struggling with her art and stack of life "failures" (because...SAME!!)

Alaris - I was asleep and now I am awake: I came late for the advertised fae and dragon lore, stayed seated and waiting for Fenir zjgjdf. Oh, and I guess the mystery surrounding our MC's abilities LOL.

The Summit Library - When I say I was maaaaaad when I realized I blew through chapter 1 and would have to go back to waiting for more content??? LOL, I was very miffed. Anyhoo, check out this title for the gorgeous art, another intriguing mystery (like what is *up* with the magic in the poor library?? who or what is to blame?? 👀) and of course the lovely characters we've been introduced to thus far.

Of Sense and Soul - I'm a regency romance girl. Like after you strip away the other stuff, I am but a poor woman with simple needs: a good ass love story 🤧💛 It's about the yearning and the slow burn and the will they/won't they/PLEASEEE they...I've never been so charmed by a demo, and the full game is going to be amazing I just know it!

Made Marion - This project is a game I've been keeping tabs on for a hot minute but hadn't taken the time to sit and properly enjoy the demo. I'M SO GLAD I DID!!! It's in early access now, so I'm hoping eventually I'll be able to carve out some time to play, but guysss Velvet Cupcake is doing the Thing?!? No idea which love interest I'll go for first, but I had a fun time meeting the Nottingham peeps in the demo.

Herotome (Super Demo) - Oh gosh. Oh gosh oh gosh oh my GOSHHH. Where do I even began?? (Really the question is where the hell do I end because this is one of those projects I talk about a lot/think about a lot and surprisingly haven't run out of things to say zkjfksjd). Another game I've been following for a while, it 100% lives up to the superhero genre in its aesthetic, the characters you interact with, the music and sound design, and of course the slowly unfurling story. Jade and Mia had come out as my top faves, Warden is still there, like hovering in the backgroud, shhhh but I have a special place in my heart for Griffin too (that conversation we have with her?? I have so many screenshots just so I can go back and reread and sear the words in my brain. Like a weirdo. Yup.)

Celestial Crowns - Stats building, celestial royalty, dating sim where you fuck around and find out your choices directly affect your MC's personality?? I'm sat. I supported the Kickstarter and now I try to practice patience for the full game's release siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighh.

OTOME/JOSEI JAM

Please note this is a SUPER abridged list for my sanity and I fell a little more in love with these 2 jams with each entry I played...

Intertwine - As embarrassing as it sounds, I've never given much thought to the "red string" thing, and I consume more than enough romance media LOL!! But Van is suuuuuch a beautiful man, the UI for this game is so interactive and lovely, the music is ALSO lovely, just lovely-love all the way around teehee. (Also this game encourages replayabillity so like, do with that info what you will.)

Spring Boy [Demo] - I believe this game is going through a complete rehaul, so my thoughts and feelings refer to the original jam entry I played. The art is bright and cute and it's a super super short demo, but I was intrigued by the other student we meet on our mission to plead with our professor about our bombed exam lol!

Assignment Due: Project Blue - IRl group projects??? Suck absolute ass. Group projects with a guy name Asher?? Suddenly it's my new favorite thing in the world 😁

Cryptid Campaign Manager [DEMO] - Remember the last time I looked over a cryptid dating sim??? Remember how I was SUCH a fool?? Good thing I didn't make that mistake again!! The prologue is such a tease but you get an idea of what the full game is gonna be like, and I'm excited to see where my career involving love (and politics) goes!

Heart Cage [Demo] - Yoooooo I stay my ass far far far away from yanderes (could never get into the trope or the character type). WELP. Guess I just needed to keep searching because I really downloaded this off a whim--well, the whim being one of my fellow dev peers playing and rating-- and proceeded to get sucked in 🤧I thought being a detective would be the highlight, but I guuuueeesssss I was more into the romance options than I thought. Oops.

Evernight - I tried to explain what this game meant to me on the side blog, but words failed me. I still don't know what to say other than I loved it?? Which is like ummm I say I love everything, and yeah I'm easy to please BUT Y'ALLLLLL if you play no other game, play this one. Please. Date a werewolf. Or a vampire. Or a fae. Plz. Also figuring out the mystery of your MC's abilities and past is just delightful, ugh.

Bright Oak (demo) - Anotha one I wrote about on the side blog!!! Play this one!!! The writing is lush and atmospheric and the characters are all delightful and it's another game with a mystery to untangle!

The Faithfulness of the Universe- This one gets the award for most unique all around entry that I played. Theeeeee prettiest pixel art to bless my eyeballs, and this tasty mystery concerning Fate and witch Faustina's future (or lack thereof 👀) and what it all means. As a player I very much want to know what it all means!

A Cup For All Seasons - Another game that needs its flowers y'all. It's short but super healing and super cozy and the voice acting and music really tie the gaming experience together???

The Working Woman's Guide to Burning Bridges - DEMO - It's the way I played the demo twice and I've been thinking about it ever since 😭😭😭🙃 obviously life happens and things come up, plus this was a demo. But. BUT!!! I am on my hands and knees prayinnggg the team gets together again to finish the game. I love playing as a stressed, lowkey bitter hot mess who doesn't have her life together 😂somehow the fictional version is soooo much more entertaining!!!

Keyframes (Spring Demo) - After the game College Craze, this is legit THE college, slice of life visual novel of my dreams. I cannot wait for the updated demo next year, and the Kickstarter whenever that rolls around. And now that the developer is on Tumblr, I've definitely been stalking the account and reading each new post like it's my day/night/weekend job 🤧

Hello Counsel 💋 - Okay I take it back, Evernight is like a 20/10 but Hello Counsel is like an 100/10 👁️👄👁️ This game is necessary for my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health, alright? The banter ✅ the character designs ✅ the music ✅ the sizzling chemistry between Poise and Salem ✅ I wish this game had more buzz because IT'S SO GOOD!!! (also the dev, Miseri, is who I wanna be when I grow up. I've made it through almost their whole backlog of games and there are no misses and EVERY game is different from the rest and it makes it hard for a toodler dev--ME--to cope LOL)

Candied Hearts - Isekaied into a candy themed game?? Sign me TF UP!!! (Peppermint I love you dearly, you must understand.)

The Knight's Dilemma - I don't even know how I originally stumbled upon this??? I just know it had been in my backlog for a hot minute and I was intrigued enough to save it way back when. Y'ALL WHY DIDN'T I PLAY SOONER SKJFHFJFH! There's a couple different endings, I loved the voice direction, AND it's such a simple concept of a game that was just executed beautifully.

Trouble Comes Twice - If I had to make a top 5 list of romance VNs, guess who makes the list?? Guess. Guess guess guess. Have you guessed yet??? LOL! I have been in love with TCT since it's development days and with each passing month, waiting in anticipation, playing the Pateron beta builds, screaming on the main blog about every single thought I had about Jace and Hazel (shoutout to Jace for helping me figure out *me*) Lol if you're curious about said thoughts, those posts are on this blog and not the side blog.

Aelfric the Wondrous - 10/10 would love to forget my first play through JUST to have that experience fresh again 😭😭💛Cute and funny and a wonderful parody type game all around.

A Summer's End - Hong Kong 1986 - Goodness, there's no excuse for why this took me years to finish but anyhoo, I finished, I loved it, I recommend it! It's romantic and achingly authentic and the art is soooo gorgeous I literally can't stand it 😭

The Things You Do For Love - Unhinged yandere manages to entertain and garner sympathy and laughter from Gemini. And that poly ending is chef's kiss too????

Band Camp Boyfriend - There are a handful of games I found and loved before I began my game development journey, and this is one of them. BCB is so dear to me, because of the story and characters but also because of the Dynamic Duo creators and their team behind the scenes. I was never a band kid I was a chorus kid but just as the band geeks loved this game to pieces, us normal folks do too!! Even the boys who I didn't like I STILL managed to find joy in playing their routes (still have a few more to finish at the time of this posting lol, GOTTA GET THE FINAL ROUTE YO). Anyway, this game more than delivered for me and I hope more people keep discovering it!!

Belle Automata: Chronicle I [RELEASED] - While only Chronicle 1 is out at the time of this posting, I already know that the 2nd and 3rd parts are going to be just as amazing???? I wrote about this one on the side blog, so here's my copypaste that still rings true:  

I love TNP (The Nightmare Prince) but Victor’s route hit the sweet spot for me. Maybe it’s the slow(er) burn nature of this route, maybe it’s the reserved nature of Victor and watching him slowly start to care (AND NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THOSE FEELINGS TEEHEE) for me.

A Date with Death - I wrote about this on the side blog--again--. The demo. And then right after finishing a route. And then again where I was fully awake and still managed to sound deranged. No copypaste for that, I shall be nice. But yeah!! Another game where I was screaming at the sky about how much I love it and how I'll never know peace as long as I live.

Our Life: Baxter DLC - I need to offer an official apology to both Cove and Derek because falling head over heels, down the stairs, crashing into the parking lot, falling again but down a manhole for Baxter's infuriating ass was NOT on my 2023 bingo board??? HELLO???? I bought his DLC just to complete my OL collection. Was not expecting to love it this much. Was not expecting to be called to write fanfic and abandon all responsibilities to do this. WHILE DOWN WITH COVID TOO. Allow me to play the song of my people. *Send in the Clowns plays*

Our Cinderella - (this is so funny I'm taking about a side game before the main game LOLOLOLOL) Guys. Guysss. You guyyyysss 🥹if you're looking for a cozy, hilarious, equally oddly and wonderfully sweet short game, this is the one!! You may have your personal favorite Iggy ship (like me) but all the pairings are so amazing and just make sense lol!

Wylde Flowers - This is the only non visual novel game on here but it gets the spotlight because I did NOT spend 90+ hours on this game to gatekeep this beauty. No. It the coziest, the funniest, the funnest, the most addictive Switch game (after Teacup) I've ever played.

Fully Released (& still on 1st playthrough)

Garden of Seif: Chronicles of an Assassin - Life kicked my butt and then sat on me SO while I finally got my grubby hands on the full copy, I still have only played the entirety of the demo. But. We will return to this in 2024 and hopefully I'll have a full review for the next wrap up!

Our Wonderland - I looked back at the side blog and I can't believe it was only THIS year that I started OW??? Because I'd known of the game and the dev for longer than that??? So basically what I'm saying is that I was chicken shit for longer than I've been in love with this world that Developer Carrot has created kjzhhshggj. But OMG to get me, who is scared oh so easily to get hella invested in this clearly labeled horror game??????????????? And even with shit gets super absurd and hella disturbing, I cannot stop playing. At the time of this post, I'm only in Act 4, hence the category above, but it's only because I play each act in a sitting and lose track of space and time and myself. That's a compliment btw.

Okie!! That's 2023 in a nutshell! I played a looooot of really good games this year and while I would have liked to talk about them all, I think this list provides a nice overview.

Do you have any advice for bad artists that don't make fanart and never get notes? I feel so embarrassed and sad posting my original ms paint drawings and pencil doodles on here and tagging them with every relevant thing I can think of ';( how do people who dont tag anything grow the number of people who like their art?

I don't believe there is such a thing as bad artists.

I think getting noticed online has a lot of factors. The most important one is probably appeal. If you create art that appeals to the most amount of people, you get the most attention. If you create art that appeals to a niche, you get attention from that niche of people. Appeal =/= Quality. For example, I probably create art that mostly appeals to furries. People who are repelled by the mere concept of furries aren't going to interact with my art even if I was extremely skilled.

A lot also depends on algorithms. My art was getting 1 like and 1 retweet (that was me retweeting my own art lol) because I didn't know how to satisfy the twitter algorithm. The quality of my art didn't matter whatsoever.

At the end of the day you need to stop paying attention to numbers because you will never be satisfied. You could say this is easy for me to say because I Do get notes now or whatever but people used to not give a fuck about anything I did for years. Now I just draw because I like it and I draw what I enjoy and some people are interested in that and some are not. If you are yourself interested in your own work people will start also paying attention and if they don't it doesn't really matter because you're doing what you enjoy. Some people go unnoticed just because they create something most people don't understand.

A lot of people don't interact with anything they don't find appealing or that doesn't fit the theme of their blog or whatever. People rarely interact with art just for the sake of it unfortunately. And that's not a reflection of yourself or your art. It's just how it is.

Going out of your way and interacting with other people and their art is also important. If you just post into the void and don't interact with other artists or try to build community it will be very difficult for other people to find you. When you interact with others they notice you though obviously don't just talk to people to get them to look at your art. Share stuff you like and uplift others just because. Even if they don't end up doing the same. There is a very prevalent attitude of people not wanting anything to do with artists they see as 'below' their skill level or whatever. It's tough out there for people with art that isn't seen as 'high quality' (whatever that even means). But thats unfortunately just how it is. Other peoples opinion of you isn't a reflection of your worth.

Also I think adding a lot of tags might be a problem and get your posts shadowbanned but I'm not sure...

basically i think kai needs:

somebody grounded to keep him from totally flipping out

but who is also willing to fight for what they believe in

spontaneous and playful - but also thoughtful and mindful of his mood swings

kind enough to love him completely despite his past

and supportive enough to help him rebuild the coven

so...yeah, bonnie, basically lol

i think s6 kai at minimum needs to be with a witch that is willing to share power, and s8 kai needs a vampire or heretic. s6 kai could make it work with a human but pre-merge you're risking a lot, and then if you put s8 kai with a witch/human, he's turning them no questions asked so we better hope they're okay with it. (let's just leave legacies kai out of this, okay? he is a different breed)

i picture him being touch starved like you wouldn't believe, so super super clingy and probably jealous at least in the beginning of a relationship. that would go for friendship, too, honestly.

i think it would be really hard for him to a. wrap his head around someone picking him and then b. allow them to also pick other people. i don't think he'd throw a klaus sized tantrum, he'd be more petty about it: "oh sorry i just assumed you liked damon now since you said you liked his hair today and yEaH i was listening from three tables over watching the whole thing don't lie i SAW HOW YOU SMILED AT HIM-,"

but like he'd mellow with that as time went on and he starts to believe he can trust being loved. on that note i think he'd need a lot of reassurance but simultaneously be embarrassed/unsure of how to ask for it. some fights would happen as he works through how to regulate himself, but i don't picture it being a delena level of toxic. kai is more self aware/honest about himself so even when he's making poor choices he's like "woah hold on, why am i doing this ?? ah yes, that's why" and i think he'd get to a point where he knows his triggers and can help a partner figure out how to avoid them/talk through them.

so think like "my boy only breaks his favorite toys" vibes. he's so sure things are going to be taken from him/stuff can't be trusted that he'll mess it up first to hopefully make it hurt less. but with time a partner could help him see that he can have nice things !! love is real !! id love to see him build up the coven/a friend group/family with a partner beside him and just !! enjoy life lmao

no matter the stage of relationship he's super tactile. i think a common hc is that he's Always the dominate one, but we all saw him in those chains, boy's totally a switch. (i also personally hc that 1994 kai is virgin!kai, but that's a story for another day). still tho i do think control is a big thing for him so he's definitely more comfortable being the one in charge. with trust comes wanting to mix things up tho so that's nice all around.

(My favorites are Ciel, Sebastian, the Viscont Druitt the Undertaker and of course Grelle so I'll talk about them :P )

For Ciel I don't think he'd willingly do anything special for summer, but I can imagine him getting a special task from the queen that demands him to go somewhere with a hot summer and nice beaches (honestly I think this is something she'd do on purpose because that boy really needs some sunlight and a hot breeze in his life) like Greece, OH YES I CAN SEE THAT!! he going to Greece with Sebastian and the servants (because there's no way they wouldn't beg to go along)

Ciel would probably be bothered by it (we can see he's not really a fan of missions abroad in the emerald witch arc) Sebastain, on the other hand, would be quite delighted with it... after all he'd get to dress Ciel in some summer clothes ¬‿¬ hehe

Ciel seems like he'd struggle with the hot weather, I can definitely imagine he sweating and blushing bc of the heat ( ´ཀ` ) maybe he'd even faint in Sebastian's arms and Sebastian would have to deal with it... just imagine the scene aah~ ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

As one hell of a buttler I'm pretty sure our demon would prepare lots of delicious tropical drinks for the little master. And of course while everyone was there they could enjoy the Greek beaches and nature (the servants deserve to go for a swim so much >.< )

For the Undertaker

He looks like the inventor of water parks to me, to hell with historical accuracy Undertaker'd be the first person.... not really a person but the first one to own a water park with some crazy water slides LOL he'd take his best dolls to his water park >:}

He'd probably build the park with Aleister's money and the Viscount of Druitt would visit the place to see nice ladies in swimsuits (his personal paradise tbh) maybe they could use the park to collect blood as well it'd make sense... or maybe not I just want to seen the silliness in a water park

And now that I mentioned my beautiful princess with a disorder (Aleister) he'd probably go to some fancy places like hotels and clubs with beautiful ladies to enjoy night parties (after all night summer parties are the best parties ;} )

For Grelle

She's like the kind of person who really likes summer, she'd dress in summer clothes and force Wilian to go with her to night balls "because it'd be embarrassing for a lady to go to a ball without a companion" (read this in grelle's voice) and they'd necessarily share a dance because I said so ~(˘▾˘~)

i tend to avoid second-hand embarrassment and contrived misunderstandings plot lines because i find the former mortifying and the latter obnoxious. i also don't really read most popular AU settings (coffee shops, high schools, historical, etc) and crossovers, but it's less of a 'can't stand' those situation and more that they don't really interest me. i prefer to play with my dolls in their original settings. mostly. sometimes i will drop a gay astronaut into fnaf, but that's a rare exception lol

there's also a smattering of kinks i don't read because they don't appeal to me, but i'm not going to go out of my way to list them here publicly. ain't nobody's business :P

I Feel Salty

When I don't feel terribly creative--and I haven't, lately--I work on the BioShock: Rapture journal.

Guys, why is this so fucking bad. It's forcing me to come up with words for why it's so bad. Like it's not just bad in terms of characterization or plot, it's conceptually bonkers.

First is the setup: a series of what are essentially short stories. They're barely connected to each other and are always summaries. It's like they're placeholders detailing where a dozen chapters of plot should go. Because they are summaries, there is absolutely no tension whatsoever. All the problems have essentially been solved--we've skipped past them to these little peaceful islands. Long story short: there is never any tension or excitement.

Second is the characterization. Absolutely wretched. I don't think John Shirley has ever met a human being in his life. Bit characters are cardboard cutouts. Major characters have no internal worlds worth speaking of. Why is Frank Fontaine grifting? Idk he just grifts. Why is Andrew Ryan doing what he does? idk he's just Andrew Ryan. And we shouldn't start on poor Bill McDonagh.

Speaking of McDonagh: the fucking dialogue. Either it's info-dumping or it's full of absurd words. Nobody is a person, everyone is a weird stereotype. I think Shirley was attempting camp but he managed to blow straight past that into the garbage. (I'm a little terrified of how he'll make the non-white characters speak lol)

Third is the fucking prose. Oh my fucking christ it's so embarrassing. Shirley does not trust you to be able to infer from his sentences, so he will explain himself at length, sometimes two or even three times over. Shirley is primarily a visual person; he can't conceptualize intangibles; he can't just discuss an idea. He is firmly rooted in terra firma. Every now and then he tries to be smart and utters complete nonsense.

Bill McDonagh was riding an elevator up to the top of the Andrew Ryan Arms—but he felt like he was sinking under the sea.

Fourth is the research. Shirley does not research big processes, but bit information, which is kind of a problem. He doesn't know how the US government could stop Andrew Ryan from shipping giant building parts out--or why they'd even care--but he'll spend time telling you about boxing in 1946.

Fifth is scene setups. So let me share with you a paragraph from my journal regarding Chapter 2:

Sullivan tries to shake a G-man, fails, and doesn’t care because it doesn’t matter. He shows up at a ship containing building materials for Rapture, meets Greavy, and they lecture each other back and forth about subjects they should already know to summarize a bunch of events we should have seen. As an afterthought, Sullivan tells Greavy he showed up in person to confirm the time the ship leaves instead of calling because the phones are probably tapped. Sullivan will leave before the ship leaves so he won’t actually know the time to confirm with his boss. This particular ship is one of multiple ships and represents only one of multiple shipments—there’s nothing remarkably special about it. They’re not in any danger in any way and there’s nothing the USA can do legally to stop them, a fact they confirm multiple times. End scene.

It's a nothingburger. Absolutely nothing happens in this that's worth writing about. The G-man can't do anything, the USA can't do anything, nobody's going to do anything. There's no tension. This scene solely exists for the sake of dumping exposition. We don't get to see the act of building the city itself.

I am definitely learning something from reading this book but mostly it's about what not to do, and I hate it. If I didn't want to keep it around for fanfiction purposes, I would throw it in a woodchipper.

Not just with actual texture (never thought I'd be describing the texture of a liquid before . . .) but with flavour as well. I really just drink water. 4. what was your favorite tv show as a kid?

good grief- I don't know. The two filmed tv shows I watched the most were Wanted Dead or Alive with Steve Mcqueen, and a BBC Robin Hood with Richard Green. I also watched a lot of the animated show Tom and Jerry, which is a family favourite

5. summer or winter?

okay, if we be going like aesthetics and songs and just vibes? then summer all day. But if we be doing this for the temperature? Then winter. I can't pick winter for aesthetic reasons because winter for me is just sometimes cold, but mostly cool, which means no snow. Come January and February, it's just rain.

6. realist, optimist, or pessimist?

definitely a pessimist. I love watching Fail Army and get my motivation to get through the day from reading demotivational quotes. I'll share one with you: be a bridge, so I can walk over you to better places

7. rain or sunshine?

I don't mind rain so much if it's actually raining, and not just cloudy with a drizzle. I prefer sunshine though. One of my favourite destressing activities is swinging on a playset (call me childish; I don't care. I also still sleep with stuffed animals) so I prefer sunshine in order to do that. But I've done it in the middle of a rainstorm too, so I just have to prepare for possibly ruining my clothes and freezing for hours afterward

oh geez- how do I answer this without sounding like a complete narcissist? I wish it was 'character trait' instead. But personality trait? People have told me I'm funny, I'm a pessimist, and very creative (I've dabbled in writing stories of various genres, poems of all kinds, and even songs; I can paint with watercolour, draw with both coloured and graphite pencil; I've built some pretty cool fantasy builds with LEGO; I tried my hand at sewing, but sucked at it; slightly better at cross-stitch but I still hate it; I can do the basic knit stich; I am pretty good at crocheting--even did a section of an advanced quilt! and I think I should stop bragging now. If I was trying to avoid sounding like a narcissist I definitely failed)

off that rabbit trail- I think my biggest personality trait is my sensitivity. I'm very sensitive to verbal negativity (which is why I became a sarcastic bitch to try and hide the fact that I really just want to go to that corner over there and cry) as well as pain and other discomforts (both my own and others. It's rather annoying. Like my mom got a paper cut and just told me about it and I almost cried). I'm also sensory-oriented, so I can get sensory-overload very easily.

teehee nope! I am one of the oldest kids in a family of over a dozen

17. what would your superpower be? how would you use it?

uhh I'm an introvert, so teleportation would be nice. I have experienced a horrific amount of super-embarrassing moments (that probably nobody else thinks about I'm just overthinking it as usual) so it would be nice to just be able to yeet myself out of there so I don't have to endure the awkward silence.

but flight would be nice too . . . I could use that to look into bird's nests

and elemental control? like damn- FIRE?!

but seriously, my overthinking mind just gave electrokinesis like the ultimate god mod. Think about it, if you could sense and manipulate electricity, you could hack into people's phones and text them, you could have every stoplight be green, and SERIOUSLY--your brain has electricity in it- I COULD SENSE PEOPLE AND MAYBE EVEN MANIPULATE THEM. But, like in a freeze-your-body or slap-yourself-in-the-face kind of way. As for accessing memory banks, I don't think I could do that. BUT THEN- LET'S GET EVEN DEEPER WITH THIS- everything is made up of protons, electrons, and neutrons, so if I could manipulate that, could I like . . . transform?!

also, to any writers out there, please don't take that electrokinesis idea. I came up with that for a story 😭

I can't remember what it was called, but it was this ice cream that was basically a combination of cookies-n-cream, cookie chunk, and oreo ice cream, and it was a BOMB. If it has chocolate in it (unless it has peanut butter 🤮) chances are high I'm going to like it

Steve rolls his eyes and shakes his head, smile still tugging at his lips. He rolls his shoulders back and casts a glance around the room. “Anyone else?” He asks. “Is that it? No one else wants to try to steal my crown?” “I’ll take a whack at it.” The group parts, and there stands Eddie Munson, in his leather jacket and obnoxious sunglasses. That bandana of his that’s always trailing out of his back pocket is tied around his head, pulling back some of his hair. Steve can see the sharp line of his jaw now, the full of his cheeks. He looks pretty. He looks good. “Munson,” Steve greets, as Eddie saunters over to the table, swinging a sock full of change. The coins clink noisily against each other.

🏷 Is there a tag you like to search for when looking for fanfics to read?

hm, not really? like, i do pretty much all of my reading on ao3 (with the exception, of course, of the ficlets and such i see on here from people i follow!) and when i'm first starting out in a new fandom/pairing tag then i tend to keep things pretty broad upon my first browse through. especially if there's not a lot of fics written yet bc being picky/specific yields less results. if the fandom is big and there's a wide selection to browse from then yeah i can be a little more selective which is great!!

but basically, i kind of just search for fics depending on the mood i'm in. so i'll adjust my parameters to fit that. so if i'm looking for a specific trope or dynamic i'll add those tags and search there. but if i'm not then i'll keep it pretty broad.

i do always filter for complete though. i am not a wip reader and there are only a veeeerrrry select few exceptions to that rule i make.

(occasionally when i'm really bored i'll go through the steddie tag on here and check out some of the ficlets there that i don't see on my dash already, but that's not as often)

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

not like suuuuper often or anything but like it does happen often. and like, i know some people get weird about reading their own works, but nah, not me lol. i'm not embarrassed by that. i'm my own biggest fan and i'll fully embrace that lmaoo. in the case of most of my fics, i wrote them for me first and foremost, like they're concepts and situations and scenarios that i wanted to see done, they're things that i like to read about, and yeah, i think i did a pretty good job bringing those concepts and situations and scenarios to life, so yeah, of course i'm going to read them lol.

🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?

omg that is SUCH a hard question dskjfs i could answer with so many of my fics lmaoo.

is it cheating if i give two answers? sdkfjsld. bc i really can't chose and i've already narrowed it down from more than two 😂 yeah, i'm giving two answers:

i would say either i want to hold you hand or if you have a minute. i feel like both of those would translate very well to the big screen lol.

i want to hold your hand because i think the story for that one is very like cinematic? in the sense that there are so many scenes in it and they flow from one to the next in a way that would be easy to recreate on film, and also like i can just picture certain scenes (the hand holding scenes specifically!) and the music that would help build the tension of them and the lighting (the glow of the movie screen illuminating them, in the dark but still lit up) and just yeahhhh. that one would be lovely to see as a movie.

and then if you have a minute because oh mannn i had THEE most vivid image of that one in my head while writing it, and like the same kind of deal - i think it would be sooo cool to see the music included (the trailer would ABSOLUTELY have somewhere only we know playing over it) and the cinematography of it all, like just picture all the forest shots and the RAIN and that cute lil diner on the side of the road, oh god it would be sooo good to see on film.

i feel like the fancast part of this question is a little silly because in an ideal world it would literally be the same actors and actresses that play these characters in the og source material lmao, so joe and joe where y'all at i've got your next movie deal!!

🤖 Are non-fandom friends aware that you write fanfic?

i've only told one like non-fandom friend that i write fic - my best friend back in high school.

but, my sister also does know that i write (she does too lol) and i know she's read some of my stuff and we've shared ideas with one another before too so yeah.

i'm pretttttty sure my parents probably know too? but like. it's one of those don't ask don't tell kind of things lmfaooo. like, when i was waaaay younger they caught me writing fic in the middle of the night when i should have been asleep and, well, let's just say that was a VERY awkward conversation the next day. so like, they know that i write gay fanfiction bc of that lmfao, but they don't really bring it up and neither do i. that being said, even if they know i write it they don't know what fandom/pairings i'm writing for lmao so that's a plus i suppose.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

omg honestly literally ANYTHING. like, i will be forever grateful and indebted to and in love with ANYONE who is inspired enough by my writing to want to create art for it. like that's just INCREDIBLE and AMAZING to me and anyone who does that will automatically earn my undying love and support (assuming they did not already have it before lmao).

buuuuut if i had to pick specifics ooooh, man i think any scene from my fic under my umbrella would be fantastic, it's one of my favorite fics i've written and i just love the vibes of that fic and rain my beloved and i will never say no to seeing sopping wet drowned cat eddie munson immortalized in art lmaoo.

or also the screaming rock scene/steve and eddie holding hands running through the forest when it starts to pour or the diner pancakes scene from if you have a minute would be incredible too.

or or or - sdlfdsk lmao i could list off so many scenes i would love to see art of i'm not going to lie. but yeah for real, literally seeing any of them drawn out would just be so mind blowing and so incredible so yeah i'm not picky 😂
