(I'll gladly hear any fic you feel like talking about, but I'm especially curious how you organized canon-divergences like True Form AU)

Well unfortunately I don’t really keep my original outlines (mine are. Very fluid. I constantly change them. If they even exist at all 🤣), but I can like... give you my process at least?

I’ll use true form since I definitely have something of an outline for that XD I didn’t at first though— when I first posted the idea and everyone went crazy over it, I wrote like 3000 words that same night because I had such a clear image in my head of what was going to happen.

That was obviously back when it was going to be a oneshot XD

So generally with any sort of canon-divergence, I start with where exactly things go wrong diverge, and what sets it off, and go from there.

Like with true form I remember having the thought “you know, I wonder what would happen if when Zelda saved Midna, all that magic somehow fixed the curse Zant put on her”, and that quickly snowballed into “well now I bet Link and her would catch feelings a lot quicker if that were the case” and then “so what if they caught them really fast? What if they had a kid?” and that’s when I made a post on her just as an idea I wanted to share, heh.

Despite my chaotic method of writing (helter-skelter all over the place) I’m usually pretty methodical when it comes to planning, weirdly enough? I don’t often write things down, but I almost always have a very clear idea in my mind of where I’m going with a fic, even if I’m not quite sure how to get there.

That’s how it is with true form. I have quite a bit of the later part of the fic written because I know exactly how all of that’s going to go, but the next few chapters that are in the middle? I’m making it up as I go XD

So yep. I know that wasn’t exactly what you asked for, but I hope all that was interesting anyway!

next week is pancake day/shrove tuesday and today i want to take a moment to educate everyone on the absolute insanity that takes place in lithuania on this day

in lithuania shrove tuesday is called 'užgavėnės' and it's a folk festival where everyone dresses up as devils, witches, goats, wolves and other animals, or even the grim reaper

we burn a giant effigy named 'morė' and some of them are the size of a normal bonfire and some of them are the size of a watchtower (and sometimes they are hilarious-looking)

there's folk music and dancing and lots of stalls selling snacks and souvenirs and this festival is very symbolic because it's to celebrate the defeat of winter and welcome in the spring

and any kid who grew up in lithuania will tell you it's an absolute ball

getting emotional over footage of an amateur scuba diver interacting with a coelacanth. they are hunted by large deepwater predators, and here comes a large creature bearing the brightest lights it's ever seen, making strange noises, but it does not shy away. it hovers, calmly, as the diver reaches out and trails a hand down its back. im strongly against the anthropomorphizing of real life animals but the stupid emotional part of me loudly insists this is because it recognizes us, the alternating movements of its four paired limbs matching the diver's four paired limbs, & it is thinking, "hello, cousins, we missed you these 66 million years, it's so good to see you again. welcome back, welcome home."

So I was doing some math, and I THINK Skully is almost as tall as Malleus without his horns

I think the main reference to his height is Epel being surprised they're the same age because he's taller than Sebek, yes? which I find interesting, considering Jade and Malleus -- two of the tallest guys in the main cast -- are also there. and, since I've never been one to not think waaaay too much about the absolute stupidest minutiae about fictional characters, I see two possibilities:

one is that Epel is extremely good at eyeballing heights (I actually do feel like he could be? like. I'd believe he can estimate someone's height fairly accurately by calculating based on the life stages of an apple tree, or how many apples tall they are, or something else apple-related like that.) and Scully does, perhaps, fall into that narrow margin between Sebek and Jade in height.

OR two, out of the three certified Tall Guys there, Sebek is Epel's main frame of reference because he's the only one he's had any real interaction with for, let's be fair, pretty obvious reasons.

SO in conclusion, we still have no concrete answers and will probably have to wait until next year when we get his card profile, alas alas. 😔
