Release day: I'm not going to make a Reverse 1999 self insert. I'm not. I won't do it.

One week later: I seriously won't do it. No OCs either. It's not like I have any ideas to work with.

One month later: What would I even theme myself as, a millennial zeitgeist? I'm mostly interested in modern aesthetics, but the whole point of the game is that time wasn't able to progress to the twenty first century. I can't think of any past historical eras I resonate with.

Now: Willowbrook State School was a state-supported institution for children with intellectual disabilities located in the Willowbrook neighborhood on Staten Island in New York City. The institution gained national infamy in 1972, when Geraldo Rivera did an exposé on the conditions there. Public outcry led to its closure in 1987, and to federal civil rights legislation protecting people with disabilities.

#I'm also considering the Capital Crawl on 1990 and that general era of disability rights activism #tho essentially that is the...same era. Just different aspects of it #tbh now i don't even care about supernatural designs & powers...just disability rights history #Have I mentioned I used to work in disability advocacy? Doodled some Gelphie ponies for fun (because combining my unrelated interests is my specialty, and for some reason my mind can't stop thinking about this elaborate Wicked MLP AU)~

More details down below!:

Design Details:

They're mostly based on the movie depictions, with some musical and book characteristics mixed in. Elphie has her sharp teeth from the book, and I can never let go of the height difference of the musical OGs lol. (Although I did draw a version with no/little height difference like in the movie, cuz why not~ I like em' both)

Elphie is part changeling (either half or quarter) from her dear old father, The Wizard. It's subtle, and she doesn't have any changeling powers, but her design has some touches of their metamorphosed designs. Like the slightly curved horn and forked ear tips, etc.

Galinda can be easily described as Short n' Sweet (Available now for streaming). Her horn is short and stubby. She often dresses up to hide her blank flank, which she's embarrassed by.

Pony AU Ramblings:

Like in the musical, not many creatures can use magic in Oz. Unicorns are somewhat rare, compared to the other pony species, and almost all can't use magic. They must learn how under the few who do know, like Morrible, which is still difficult to achieve.

Elphaba is unique in that she was born with magic and a lot of it, though she can't control it. Which led her to be ostracized, among her other unique characteristics.

Galinda is the same in that she wants to be a sorceress and learn magic under Morrible. She's insecure about her blank flank, but hides it under her charms and tells others she'll get it when she becomes a full-fledged sorceress.

Everything about the animal plot is the same. The Wizard is an un-metamorphosed changeling that wants to silence and control animals.

CONCEPT DOODLES for an AU I dabbled in with a few friends after the winter king episode but kinda forgot about after the Fionna and Cake finale... I decided to revisit it and explore a little more after coming to terms with everything LOL... So, it's another "Winter King doesn't die immediately after his crown gets nuked" AU, but THIS TIME he's just dying really slowly (like Simon in the Betty episode) and ALSO joins Fionna, Cake, and Simon on their search for magic crowns. There's no logic behind this tbh, we just wanted to put him through The Horrors. And make them all friends. But mostly The Horrors. :) (he only gets to live as a treat, because I think he's funny).

Practicing armor got out of hand, resulting in a Lucky Clover design. Spoilers, I guess?, but knight Dess is a thing. Final Pacifist Boss concept art! Flats + design notes under the cut

Again I'm not sure if this counts as spoilers considering I still don't know how I want to tell the story of this AU beyond scattered comics and art LOL but, Dess as the final Pacifist boss, taking up a knight mantle in order to save.. something important to her ;)

I wanted to have her a mix of ice and fire knight, given that her family is associated with winter and ice while I personally associate Dess with fire. She grows antlers and her baseball bat becomes a sword because I think she deserves to look cool

The brothers meet again

Ohhh my gods, this one was so daunting (I don't like backgrounds 😭) but it was so fun!!! This scene is going to be like. The really fun dramatic one when I get around to writing it, but for now here's a piece for it instead!!
