Happy November 17th with music!!!

Greece has three national holidays; March 25th, the Independence Day, October 28th, the ΟΧΙ (No) Day aaaaand November 17th, the Polytechneio Day.

In fact, November 17th is considered a semi-national day, as it doesn't commemorate an ethnic uprising against some foreign oppressor or invader but the political intranational uprising against the Colonel Dictatorship of 1967-1974. It is the anniversary of the revolt that took place in the National "Metsovion" Technical University of Athens (Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο - Ethnikó Metsóvio Polytechnío) by its students in November 1973. (Greek Polytechneia are high education engineering universities, so they are not the equivalent to technical schools.) The uprising was the most impactful anti-junta movement in Greece - students commandeered the University, operated a radio station and started protesting against the junta and spreading effectively the message to the Greek people, who started gathering around the school. Their effective protests harmed the dictators, who sent the army to surround the university and threaten the students. While the students and the junta were still in negotiations, the army broke the academic asylum, a tank demolished the gates and soldiers invaded the school. During the episodes that ensued, there were 40 deaths and more than 2,000 injured reported. The Polytechnic movement did not bring down the junta, however it was a crucial contributor to its weakening and to the spread of awareness against it across the globe. (The dictatorship eventually fell about half a year later, during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, in which Greece failed to provide significant assistance to Cyprus or even protect its own interests.)

The spirit of the university's revolutionaries as well as the general hardship Greece went through in those seven years were the inspiration for a lot of great artists, particularly poets and musicians, and birthed numerous classic Greek songs. Below are four of my favourite ones, from the many that became symbols of this era, and are today sung by school choirs across the country!

Habitat- Western United States; Central America; South America

Size (Weight/Length)- 170 g; 25 cm

Diet- Insects; Small mammals; Small birds

Cool Facts- The ultimate homeowner, the burrowing owl make their homes in abandoned prairie dog dens. Active during the day, these tiny owls eat almost exclusively large insects. When you’re small, it pays to have a defensive mechanism. When bison walk over the owl’s burrow and threaten to cave it in, burrowing owls can mimic a rattlesnake rattle and scare the bison away. Parents are fearless when it comes to threats towards their chicks. Both mom and dad will divebomb coyotes and badgers with their sharp claws and beaks to chase them out of town.

there's been a very depressing uptick in those "best of reddit" compilations featuring stories about pregnant women (and girls!) who are stuck in an awful, usually abusive situations.

They have no way clean way out, since they are in incredibly vulnerable positions and have to rely on their partners/parents/etc. Even if they managed to get away, they will remain tied to their partners through their child. And that's if they survive.

This, too, is why access to birth control and safe abortions is vital to women's safety.

On November 5th, US citizens will elect a President, a new Congress, and a third of the Senate. Both sides have made their positions clear. A majority democratic government will sign reproductive rights into law. Any republican majority, especially a 'republican' president, will continue to block it.

Use your vote wisely.

For the footballer teamwork is fundamental therefore he refuses to leave anyone behind.

If a survivor is placed on a rocket chair the decoding speed decreases by 30%. Obstacle vaulting and pallet pulling speed increases by 15%, the recovery speed of hunters stunned by the footballer is decreased by 10% and the rescuing speed is increased by 20%.

The hitman always completes a task, therefore he doesn't care about anyone who isn't his target.

The hitman is never shaken by Terror Shock in any interactions. If a survivor, who isn't the target, is injured or placed on a rocket chair, any of the hunter's traits don't apply on the hitman. The rescuing speed is decreased by 20% and if hit by the hunter footprints disappear and movement speed is increased by 30% for 10 seconds.

"Receiding hairline" idea explanation under the cut

Sooo, I assume that lots of people will get the sibling culture I'm referencing in the "Receiding hairline" submission but anyway- just to be safe- :

Inspired by something I did to my youngest sister when I first got acne. At the time she made comments about it that could have brought down people sensible about it.

I don't remember being hurt by them, mostly because she was young, but I didn't want her to say the same to our other siblings (who would start to have acne soon) and have them take it more to heart.

So, I'd touch my forehead/face, then touch hers before saying "Okay, now you'll also get it" as a way to say,, like,,, "Sure but it's not something you can control on the spot, and since you have to go through it, it's kinder not to make remarks/jokes like that"

That ans I also wanted to pretend like I cursed her lol
