It's Erik's birthday today so I thought I'd put together a lil aesthetic based around his star sign!

Virgos are grounded Earth signs, deeply rooted in their ways and perfectionists to the core. They are your best friend, extremely dedicated and loyal, and will work hard to maintain their relationships. That perfectionism can present kind of neurotically, however, and you'll often find Virgos overthinking and meticulous in their persuit of that perfection.

Erik is the quintessential Virgo imo, I love them to pieces! Every Virgo I've ever met has a lil Erik in them and I love that for them.

Protagonist Character Design + Some Info

This is the design for the main character of my current project- ‘Rhododendron’

I usually post art on my main blog, but I felt like my character designs for stories should go on this blog

I’m still working on all of my characters. Still figuring out traits and whatnot for most of them.

Also I'm finally starting to work on the novel again (it's about time) so uhhh I'll put the current version of the prologue here:

This was it. The end, in more than one way.

I gripped the steering wheel tighter. I closed my eyes, just for a moment. They burned like coals beneath my eyelids. If I’d laid down, I would have likely slept for a millennia.

The car door opened with a click and I stepped out, my feet landing gently on the wet yellow grass. It stretched out as far as the eye can see, uninterrupted, even, eventually meeting the gray field of clouds on the horizon.

The air was cold and wet and smelled like salt. The sound of waves crashing against the steep rock carried from bellow, quiet and distant, broken only by the odd squawking of seagulls flying overhead.

Nothing felt real. It hasn't in a white.

I slowly walked toward the figures in the distance, the dying grass rustling beneath my feet. The wetness in the air clung to my skin and burned my throat. Steam rose from my lips as I exhaled, and then inhaled, slow and deep. I walked past the others, closer to the edge.

Restless, the sea churned, glistening waves crashing against one another. The further I looked, the more they blended with the thin mist that had set over the shore.

I closed my eyes once more, letting the chilly breeze run through my hair and across my face, hoping it would carry away all that had happened those past few days. It seeped through my clothes, sending shivers down my spine and biting my fingertips; ultimately providing little relief.

My eyelids cracked open. I looked out once more to the dark, deep ocean that seemed to stretch on forever.

Is this what the edge of the world looks like?

A few minutes passed, maybe an hour or two. Maybe it was just a second, one that felt longer than infinity. My eyes drifted lower, to the steep drop, to the fluffy white foam rolling between the jagged cliffs bellow.

And then, for just a moment, I was overcome by the pressing urge to jump.

Species: Wonderland rabbit

Some species facts:

- Wonderland Rabbits are a magical species that in the real world can be found around the UK, france, Wales region, they were the species that inspired most of the writing of "Alice in Wonderland" and their first appearance was documented in May 11 of 1852

- this species looks like a normal rabbit/bunny from afar with the difference that they carry a clothing item or accessory, such item is what gives them the ability to transform into their humanoid form with ease but without it they're stuck forever in their animal form

- their species only lives 15 years

- just like rabbits irl they have a ton of babies, the average family having 8 children

- they are herbivores and if they eat meat they'll get extremely sick

- color blind, seeing the world mostly in shades of blue and gray

Hopscotch abilities:

Transformation:

Using her hat Hopscotch can turn from a white rabbit with brown spots, to a humanoid girl, can also use the hat to create simpler disguises in her humanoid form.

Creation of rabbit holes + short distance travel in a timeline:

Her clock can create small portals that only travel in the timeline she's in, but her rabbit holes are extensive and deep, making it possible to travel to a specific place even far away

Using her clock hopscotch can observe other timelines :D

Umbrella:

Hopscotch umbrella makes it possible for her to hover over surfaces and places (imagine mary Poppins), hit enemies with it, use it as a shield too

When reading tea in her special set, Hopscotch can make simple future predictions with the tea leafs, they show the most probable future but it's not guaranteed it will happen.

danny douglas - substitute pe teacher, star trek lover, "roomates" with andy. super sweet guy. goofy as hell. kinda like mr sinclair (for irls). all his students ship him and his roommate (they don't know andy's name). struggles with BPD and depression but hates to talk about it and puts on an act (31)

andy white - literally the re-embodiment of wallace from scott pilgrim. super monotone. "roommates" with danny. very prone to miscommunication due to monotoness and misunderstanding. works in an office cubicle (no one knows what he does). can't really pick up social cues and is extremely awkward (undiagnosed autism. doesn't know it exists) (29)

jacob anderson - ex of both danny and andy (at different times), super famous, yet none of his fans know about his past relationships with danny and andy. manipulative but does want danny back. currently dating melanie (fans know, they love them). scared that melanie will act negatively to his bisexuality and will think he's cheating on her (she won't). had some traumatic experiences that eventually turned into manipulation (he struggles with Trichotillomania). melanie waters - current girlfriend of jacob, super sweet and supportive. doesn't know of jacobs bisexuality but knows he has issues. thinks of danny and andy as friends. very overprotective of jacob (not necessarily a good thing). grocer (vegan store). unemployed for a while. struggling with employment (OCD and HPD. believes and treat jacob like they're married. which doesn't exactly make him uncomfortable but it's weird for him (he doesn't know what HPD is)) (internalized ableism) (24)

jenny white - sister of andy, their basically opposites. super happy and nice and welcoming but has SEVERE social anxiety. gardener and aspiring florist, paralyzed from the waist down. (37)

Introducing My Characters!

Thanks so much to everyone that voted in the naming polls! I am excited to show you all the final results and a little more about them.

These characters are for my personal WIP novel "Big Queer Liminal Train Trip"

It's about four queer arts students in New York who live on the West coast, and are taking a train back to their families for the summer. They're taking the train for some adventure! (and definitely not cause they want to prolong the time til they're back home).

They all have their own motivations and needs and wants related to family, career, themselves, and each other. But the train itself also has it's own needs and wants. And they're about to find out what those are.

I would classify it as Adult Paranormal/Science fiction.

Now, On to the main characters!:

This is Elias!

He/him, trans man, gay, aromantic , allosexual. His major is Actor/Singer. Elias is like a brother to everyone, platonic best friend love with Avi especially. He calls Margo "Mango", and Raine and Elias joke like siblings, play jokes on one another. Elias has a family that accepts him for who he is, but not "all the way" (for example, his mom saying stuff like, "Why do you need to go on hormones to be yourself").

This is Raine!

They/them, Agender, queer, allosexual and alloromantic.

Raine's Major is Music Composition, and they play the Violin. Their major stresses them out and all their friends insist they change it but they refuse (people pleaser for their parents).

Raine and Avi have had a crush on one another before, and almost kissed but then it was awkward and they didn’t so they just went their separate ways to dorms. Meanwhile now, Raine and Margo are in a romantic relationship eventually/getting there.

This is Avi!

Ze/zir, Bigender, queer, aromantic, allosexual.

Avi is the Meme lord of the group. It suits zir as zir Major is Activism Art. Ze does large scale projects as well as election memes, skits, and much more. Ze is looked up to as a meme saint by the rest of the group. Ze has a family that doesn't understand them and their humor one bit, however. Margo and Avi spend a lot of time together engaging in their shared interests like that they’re both in an art related major.

This is Margo!

She/They, genderfluid, Demi-girl, Asexual, Panromantic (changed from alloromantic to specify their romantic attraction).

Margo's Major is Digital Artist! She has been drawing since they were a little kid, and they have a talent for drawing backgrounds and details that her peers are jealous of. They couldn't be more happy with their major, but her family disagrees. Saying she's "Wasting their money" on art school. You mean the government's money from the scholarships she won? While simultaneously letting them go to art school? Kinda hypocritical there.

Anyway, her favorite things to do are take commissions from their friends, and they give them MANY. Though try as Elias might to get her to draw porn (it's where the money maker is, he says), that's just not her jam.

I hope you all enjoyed the descriptions! I'll be sharing more about them as time goes on and I flesh out the story and their relationships!
