Redesign concepts of Webmaster and Feathers

After a year

WEBMASTER

My biggest problem with the Webmaster design is how cluttered it seems; there's just a lot going on here. So I tried to calm it down a bit; I took away one pair of legs to make him less cluttered but keep (more or less) original body lenght. And I know that in his episode Jun says “if something has eight legs, she doesn't like it,” refering to spiders, but I think eight limbs works too.

I also played around a bit with his colors and markings. As well as body structure and proportions, noting this dragon's show-off skill - spinning webs.

When he puffs up his “cheeks” just before he spits, you can hear a sticky, mushy sound - you know that something is going on inside. The muscles are moving and pushing something with a sticky, gluey consistency. I would like it to be somewhat repulsive.

When he spits silk in attack it does not come out as big ball of burning web. It's more like net in "V" shape, in form of many separate threads of silk shooted at the same time. Similar to actual spiders, but on the bigger scale. His webs also don't burn; I feel like it's an overkill.

I changed the arrangement of his forelegs slightly. I know it's not quite in line with the style of HTTYD (see Speed Spingers' front limbs) but in his case I think arranging his hands in a similar way to therizinosaurus gives him a more menacing look.

Deadly Spinners are dragons that give a very unpleasant first impression. They are not the most beautiful dragons around (at least not by the standard) and their behavior can be repulsive to some. The type of dragon that people are willing to pin an unfriendly, sometimes unfair patch on more easily than on other dragons - as many people do with spiders or snakes and other similiar animals.

Deadly Spinners don't live in large groups - either small groups or solo. But when they are in a group they have very close bonds and spend a lot of time socializing among themselves.

FEATHERS

She is a challenge to me, not gonna lie. She definitely is the most changed among my redesigns so far. She just seems very basic to me.

The most bothering thing to me about her are those "feathers". Because, Alex in s1ep3 calls these "feathers", as well as Olivia in s5ep2, wiki calls these "feathers-like scales", but they can move and are thick what implies they are more like Furies'/Night Light's head numbs? I absolutely can pass the crowns as feathers, but Queen's horns and holes in her meaty tail were here the last straw to not to

And yes, I made a shitty video because I'm really confused and wanted that confusion express lmao. I hope Tumblr won't take it down.

So idk, I wanted to clarify what the frick those things are and go from there. I had two main ideas - either give her actual feathers or quills similiar to those of Bewilderbeast. When drawning I wasn't sure about either idea but finally decided for the latter one. Feels more HTTYD-like I think? And very flammable feathers don't seem like the best survival choice when almost every other animal around can spit fire.

I reimagine Featherhides as way more nervous and skittish dragons. Changewings were mysterious but usually seemed calm and strategical. Featherhides' nature is more in type of "flee" than "fight" (tho they can get so smoke when needed, they are not defensless or smth). They are very easy to spook and sometimes will flee in panic from something very trival just to return seconds later when they realise there was no danger at all, or are curious of whatever scared them. They often make rapid little movements, much like birds - especially if something catches their eye and they are not sure what it is.

Featherhides also live in large flocks without a complex hierarchy. If they can - they run, if any of them can't - at least some of them also stay behind.

Once Feathers bonds with Alex she would be very protective of her little human.

When Featherhides mimic sounds they do not do weird things with their faces like in the show. It looks much more like like some birds do that. But that's just a sidenote.

Marble Hornet headcanons everyone come gobble em up before they get cold!!! @forgottenporkbun @monszsterz

So my headcanons for MH are a lot less conceret than those for the creepypastas cause ngl, I'm still trying to figure out wtf happened in MH. I haven't read the comics yet so I'm going off the main videos only. I've rewatched them a few times and read the theories but I'm still left with a few questions, and some theories I have fall apart when paired against certain videos SO take everything with a grain of salt. Even WORSE is I'm still playing around with how I want to write these scenarios and dynamics because they change drastically based on what theory I'm going with at the time.

Starting off, I think The Operator (TO) is doing a lot of experimentation. Each person in MH is affected differently cause no two people have the exact same type of TO disease. The closest are probably Jay and Brian, funny enough, because both were infected by Tim. Tim is patient zero for the disease in the sense that he doesn't just have it, he IS IT. Each cell in Tim's body contains a little speck of TO that, when transferred to others, can multiply and spread into a spiritual parasite. It reacts differently to Alex because he's also hand picked by TO. We know Alex had been stalked by him from an early age, maybe his whole life. When he got infected it triggered a sleeper agent type parasite in him. He's a lot more aggressive, violent, and bold. I think the difference stems from where the seed of The Operator has been planted. For Tim its the body, and Alex I honestly think its the soul. I could say mind but I actually think that applies better to Seth (and Ticci Toby but I'm trying not to include creepypastas in this rn). If the disease works through the bodies of Tim, Brian, and Jay it makes sense why normal prescription medication works to stop it. If that's the case why isn't everyone infected and wipes out the world? We were nearly at the end of MH by the time Jay started REALLY showing signs of no return. At almost any point he could have left got some medication, and probably get over it! I mean its like, entry 80 before we see him wandering around in a daze and hallucinating, right? His symptoms always get worse when he's in an infected area or around Tim for a prolonged amount of time. Jessica on the other hand seems to catch it really fast. Like REALLY fast. A single interaction in Rosswood has her just as bad as Jay, who had been on the run for almost two years surrounding himself with this shit. She has also been stalked by TO since a young age. I won't be able to get into her more until I read the comics tho.

I see a lot of people confused as to what Brian's status ends up being with both The Operator and his friends cause me too tbh. His motives are constantly bouncing around. One thing I know is he is still buddy buddy with TO. Some people say he's fighting against him but I don't get that at all from the videos. He's either using special powers he was given or TO is monitoring him and stepping in when possible to teleport him to safety. If TO is wanting followers then it makes sense he'd encourage Brian to lure Tim back into it with him. The issue is Alex is ALSO a follower. The Operator finds himself in a pickle when his girls are fighting one another. This is where I really get thrown off. An easy answer would be The Operator is an inhumane, eldrich, perhaps fae monster with no understanding of how humans really work. This, paired with the fact his followers have NO idea what he really wants them to do, means miscommunication and chaos ensue. When Tim is killing Alex in the final entries TO bounces around BOTH of them to get in their way. We know he's fully capable of tossing Tim off to the other side of the woods, or snatching Alex out of danger, but he doesn't. He's watching....I think he wants to see which style of infection is better. Tim's disease, or Alex's corruption. Which makes a better follower. This falls apart when you remember how close Brian came to killing Alex and he got saved by TO. Again you can sweep this under the rug by saying either A: He wans't done having fun yet or B: It had to be Tim. The OP doesn't give a FUCK about Jay dying, he lets him get shot and then scoops him up for devouring. Same about Brian, he lets him *fall*. They're supplemental to the game. Its all about Tim and Alex.

Now my FAVORITE headcanon of all time I use everywhere no matter WHAT...Tim is The Operator's favorite. If we wanna include pre-MH lore about Slenderman, aka his origins in the photoshop contest, then we learn he's been trying to do something like this for a very long time. Tim may be the first person ever directly infected by The Operator to live to adulthood. He may also be the first one to consistently fall back into a state of obedience, aka, a masked state where he's being crazy in Rosswood in the middle of the night. That makes him the favorite child. He is disobedient to The Operator, curses him, openly hates him, and physically fights against him throughout ALL of Marble Hornets and yet Tim never gets killed or devoured. He definitely comes close to both. I think him being teleported around is The Operator's most merciful form of punishment to shake some sense into his first follower. Its basically evil time out lmao. He just ALMOST snags two more followers in Brian and Jay but alas we know how that ends. In most people's "fix it" au, or "no one dies" au, that isn't an issue. My "no one dies" au transfers into creepypastas and the mansion and there is a direct tie in there with Ticci Toby, his similarities to Tim, their relationship, and how The Operator acts. The best way I explain it (and the way that makes me laugh the most) is saying TO is like parents who were cruel af to their eldest child, but by their youngest, they're completely different people and wonderful parents. I wouldn't call Slenderman a wonderful parent even in a very wholesome creepypasta mansion Au but he's definitely BETTER THAN WHATEVER THE FUCK WAS HAPPENING IN MH!!! This results in the younger children (pastas) having no idea why the eldest children (Tim and Brian) fucking hate their parents. Its a very good silly dynamic to wrap up the most gut wrenching, tragic yaoi I have ever watched.

You smiled to yourself as you snapped a picture of a grove of aspens, their leaves tainted a sophisticated gold that was complimented excellently by the afternoon sunshine.

“Over here!” You heard Lloyd beckon, making your head snap over in his direction.

Moving away from the aspens, you came to a gnarled old tree. Lloyd was standing proudly in front of it, pointing to it with a huge grin. “Isn’t it cool?”

You nodded eagerly, readying your camera already. A few seconds passed, and the little click never came. You pursed your lips, disgruntled. “I can’t get a good angle.”

Lloyd frowned, his brow furrowing in contemplation as he stared at the tree. Then, with a sudden light in his eyes, he stepped closer to you and dropped to his knees.

“Get on my shoulders.”

You hesitated, but decided that the picture would be worth the effort. You squealed as he practically jumped to his feet, jostling you perilously.

You finally snapped the perfect picture. Grinning at your camera, you rubbed Lloyd’s head affectionately.

“Thanks, sweetie. You can put me down now.”

Lloyd hummed in thought, drumming his hands on your knees for a moment before continuing down the trail with you still on his shoulders.

“Lloyd! Put me down!” You laughed, playfully smacking his head.

“No.” You could hear the smile in his voice.

It wasn’t until you completed your walk that Lloyd finally relented and put you down.

“Finally! You rascal,” you giggled, shoving him lightly.

“Hey, you got some good pictures, didn’t you?”

You huffed. “Okay, I will admit that.”

Lloyd winked with a good-natured grin. “Glad I could help.” He kissed your cheek, grasping your hand before continuing on your path home.

The Beginning of the End

Contains negative "critique", or more precisely, my thoughts and observations, of the newest story quest. Might be interesting, might not be.

Fripp says that the spymaster’s squirrels have reported three Drakonium shipments being simultaneously abandoned. And that’s it? Couldn’t they also tell us who abandoned the shipments, and if any Dark Riders were spotted? And how did they not notice that the abandoned shipments were empty?They must know what a full shipment looks like, what types of containers Dark Core uses. They must have noticed the goons taking the shipments to unusual places, maybe they even spy on G.E.D.‘s mining operations, and see Dark Core loading the shipments. They must know the usual routes. They also could have checked to see if there actually was any Drakonium nearby.

It bewildered hen Alex yelled at everyone to stop. Like chill Alex, we’re just having a discussion, we’re not about to attack each other.

Linda’s comment about there being six of us confused me a lot initially, because there’s only 5 of us soul riders, eight of us if counting Fripp, Avalon, and Evergray.

Alex discourages Anne from creating portals, but is okay with her performing an allegedly hard and elusive spell nobody has mastered or performed in a very long time?

“I won’t bother you anymore with my jumbled thoughts.” …… brother in Aideen you just told me you had some thoughts to share with me. I really wish I could spend more time with Fripp, talk more with him. He might be such an amazing character if there was more to him.

“The future of Jorvik rests on your shoulders.” Gee, thanks.

The “Fripp teleporting away” cutscene was very weak.

I honestly was under the impression that the Drakonium shipment trap was set up to allow Dark Core access to the Library, so they could get to the Brambletween. I had not realised that there is now an army of druids there. So now I wonder why Fripp walked out on us when he didn’t need to go back to protecting the Library.

When the runestone appeared from the ground I thought it was the island itself trying to talk to me. I was a little disappointed to find out that it was a message from the druids.

Also, why did Alex and Anne waste time going to the Singing Yew to talk to me rather then just texting me and going straight to Valedale.

The Drakonium is already all unloaded from the trucks, even tho the Dark Riders want to take it further towards Valedale. And how are Lisa’s healing and Linda’s visions supposed to do anything to stop the Dark Riders?

How big is the Drakonium blast radius?

I’m so glad the writer had Alex ask such an interesting and valid question.

I honestly am conflicted about about the Oil Rig. Android or human, I still feel sorry for the goons. And what about other workers, like Lisa’s dad, or maintanance divers? But also, shouldn’t the Drakonium have been teleported to wherever G.E.D. mines it?

I think that Dark Core can already sue the pants off the druids for destroying and stealing their property.

I actually felt worried that Mr Sands might have died or been hurt. Then I thought that maybe he had been suffering for some years under Garnok’s influence, and this way he could be free, and Darko could take over. And then I was relieved that nothing happened to Mr Sands.

Mr Sands must have other oil rigs, he is an oil tycoon. I still wonder if he had the foresight to stop any drilling that might have been going on on the DC rig (If there was any), so that he wouldn’t lose the oil.

It was cool to see the hostility between the Dark Riders. I always had a feeling like they might actually hate working with each other, and that their working relationship might be strained.

Cool, so the Gate/portal is actually called the Hadal Gate. I wonder if Darko was working on it. It’s a shame it got destroyed.

I really thought the ending cutscene was happening in Wildwoods, but I suppose it’s not. The animation of Sabine swinging the hammer was kind of whack, but the animation Erissa had when she jumped out of the portal???? And her idle???? CHEF’S KISS. But the difference in quality of the cutscenes in one quest that takes a few minutes to finish is jarring.

Now I wonder where Erissa’s Dark Horse is, and what happened to the one Darko made.

I don't like how the writers introduce these new concepts, such as spells, rune warning messages. New rules. Things that are useful for only that one quest, and are never mentioned again. It's nice to have more material for fic writers, but it also would be nice if those spells and concepts would reappear. They either change their mind and abandon that concept or direction, or they forget, or it takes them so long that they're now going in a completely different direction and that thing they introduced is no longer needed or canon.

Overal, I think it was a somewhat okay quest. I think the writing was meh. So were the cutscenes. But I'm just glad that things are slowly moving somewhere. I'm elated that we finally have the fourth Dark Rider, and that they finally showed us some behind the scenes stuff going on with Dark Core. I'm glad they let Dark Core get the upper hand, or also progress with the story.

I wonder if SSE has their game documented. I don't know much about gamedev, but apparently developers use their own wikis to teep track of factions, items, characters, places, narratives... everything in the game. And It seems like SSE either doesn't have one that is up to date, or they just don't have one at all from the previous years, and are now working on a new one?

The name of the quest has me wondering if SSE is perhaps itching to wrap the main story up fast, so they can focus on the horses, outfits, and tack. That is a scary thought.

Face Your Light AU

Oh Good Lord... That plot is a can of worms that has been fermenting since 2019!! Don't beat yourself over it, even I get confused from time to time haha 😂

SO– the VERY basics are these:

Philip is a "young" half Vampire (about +200 to +400 depending on the day you ask me, lol) who's trapped in an eternal angsty teenager Body (he looks 19) he can't outgrown because of unresolved family issues (aka. the death of his mother) that his father John refuses to speak about and the both of them live constantly antagonizing each other while also hiding from other vampires because of John being sort of a criminal for having an affair with a human.

But things change when one day Philip meets a french exchange student by the name of Alex, who will help him uncover all the secrets his father kept from him, save him from a Witch Coven that is trying to kill both him and his father (for reasons) and most importantly, finding himself as he reconnects and finally makes peace with the memory of his mom.

The thing is that since most of it comes from Philip's or Alex's POV is hard to explain things further without spoiling parts of the plot !

Which I already did but since you're confused I guess it would be better this way 😅

Conclusion: yep. This got me in the heart, even if it isn’t the show itself. Still stuff that bothered me. But overall, this series of movies is not so bad. Not so great, at times, but not so bad. Honestly, I think they did the best they could and that’s really all I could ask for. And it was nice seeing them all in live action. For this movie, an 8/10. For the series of movies? 6.5/10. Not remotely comparable to the original series, but still a worthwhile watch and something I’d recommend if you want a recap of the series but don’t have time to watch it all again.

Noah braindump

- Noah becomes the champion of creation/souls (under Akwan)

it’s a long story but Akwan planned for whatever Owen’s creation would be to become a vessel for some power to help Akwan.

So he (eventually, not for a long while) dies after getting his soul and Akwan is like “haha by the waaaay”

and Noah is just super confused.

this also makes wind to the other androids down in Selcouth, which leads me to my next point:

- he is like. SUUUPER important in the eyes of robots and androids and the like.

mainly because he’s the first robotic entity to roam Selcouth freely after escaping his creator

and also because this boy becomes the literal lord of Morgana and Morgana’s grand judge.

he’s the first android to have a position of power

he’s also the reason that like, several robotic uprisings start in Montez specifically

yippee for fighting for your rights!

plus the “becoming the champion of creation” thing

- rich people are weird to Noah tho. See him as an object instead of a person

especially considering Pandora is a noble and his girlfriend (they just assume Pandora created and owns Noah, which makes her just as uncomfortable)

Pandora just ends losing her shit on his behalf at several nobles because: what the fuck stop being WEIRDDDDD

- Owen and Noah definitely have similar personalities. Albeit with some differences

Both are trying to see the beauty in the world tho :)

- most androids and robots don’t look like Noah.

Noah is definitely hard to read as an Android, but there are small queues that you can tell that he’s not human. Like his eye color (a little too vibrant)

but he is openly an android and proud of it :)

part of the reason there aren’t others like him is because making an android look near perfectly human takes a lot of time and a lot of skill, alongside the maintenance it takes in order to keep him working right (like with any human)

the human body is delicate, yes? we have to eat, drink, etc.

Noah is just a bit more tough in the sense that he can tank hits really easily and be able to function when he has what would otherwise be life threatening injuries.

but he still gets grumpy when he gets the munchies.

- Noah is accepted into the De La Dáinn family almost instantly

This boy cries when he figures out that this massive family sees him as family.

And boy oh boy is he NOT a crier (he is but he’s good at hiding it).

All of The Crux is accepted into the family, however to the Lockwood Sibs and Noah, this means more than they realize

The sibs plus Noah never really had a family. So it means a ton to them now that they have one.

Alexander and Noah get off on a sour start but ultimately become buddies. Alex even starts inviting Noah out to play like, golf, or some shit.

So I just had a dream where, essentially, trying to find an artist's art tag for what I bought a sticker of sent me into a strange world where the people there thought they were dogs.

Dream rambling under cut

Like, I was looking for some sticker the artist drew because, in the dream, a friend asked what I'd bought from them so i looked for it because i didnt remember, and suddenly I was in a field and had no clue where I was.

And this short girl with curly hair and her taller best friend with straight hair ended up talking to me and leading me around, asking what kind of dog I was because i didnt look familiar nor like everyone else. The curly haired girl was a chihuahua and the straight haired girl was I think a German shepherd. "Everyone's a dog here!" The chihuahua girl was named Chelsie and the German shepherd girl was named Alana.

They were still very excited, confused, and welcoming to me as they showed me around. They dressed and looked like people but just weren't 100% human looking for some reason. They didn't have like- dog ears or anything, they looked human but like- not- entirely??? I think it was their hands, their hands looked like paws somewhat with fur and claws for nails and darker skin on their palms.

And I'm just wandering around trying to get used to this small town of sorts that they set up in an abandoned amusement park, mainly just walking around, and I meet two other dogs. A tall (compared to me..), muscular man with blonde, messy hair and his unwilling roommate(?) who was an older man with black , graying, cleanly styled hair. I think they were implied to be a golden retriever and a i'll assume a chocolate Labrador given how I remember his hair looking. I think their names were Alex and Ricko.

The blonde man just asks inappropriate questions upon being met, so I ran off to avoid him, and he later sulked and asked his friend why he "can't get bitches like you can" (which is really funny to me-) and the older guy reminisces about when he was younger and was the heartthrob of the town. He was a musician & singer too. He was implied to still have incredible pull but he didn't feel he was as handsome or anything as he once was.

The dream moved on to me with the girls and we're chatting and Chelsie accidentally spilt her friend's snacks on the bed so we were just awkwardly there as Alana began to vacuum them up, the other having left bc she didn't like the noise and me trying to nervously pick out some of the chips(?) that were missed. I remember Alana ended up talking to me about "knowing I don't really seemed to care for them" and how she'd kinda felt I was looking down on them for being dogs after we'd spent the day hanging out & them hunting animals with me tagging along. It was such an awkward moment in the dream, because how do you explain you just haven't figured out how/processed you ended up here to begin with? But we'd talked it out and got on better terms. I went to my new home or sorts after saying goodbye since it was late out.

My home was like- an abandoned apartment that I was given the uh...honor ...ig of fixing up so I could comfortably live there. A gang of dog people ended up hearing about me though and kept trying to break in the next morning while I was away to "see what kind of person I was". They used a literal actual cat to try and sneak them in because they hoped it'd unlock the doors for them or show them another way of how to get in. Cat refused and instead messed with them. Tho I remember I had subtle cat imagery in my room along with things from fandoms i like, which might've indicated I was/was becoming a literal cat person paired with the girl thinking I was looking down on them when I wasn't.

I think the dream ended with me walking back home, not knowing there was a gang of dogs trying to get into my apartment.

So yeah I had a weird dream, just wanted to type it down before I forgot.

Oh also, everything about the world I'd seen looked kinda abandoned. The dogs lived in abandoned houses that clearly had been human houses before, there were broken cars that were rusty and not used for years, grass was overgrowing in places it didn't before, the night was pitch black if not for all the stars and moon lighting the place, the amusement/Waterpark stuff the people I found lived in were all unused and moldy/rusty. They figured out how to make foods I knew of because well- recipes n such they found around. They had farms and such for all of this. Never once saw chocolate or grapes around any food I'd see in the dreams though.

(the Labyrinth is full of crazy and confusing scenes since it messed with time), "Holly" (Mayhem in disguise) feeling the power of the Instrument. Alice healing Bendy and having wings as she completed her act of charity. Mayhem touching Isaac's biceps (he was frozen in time here, and this is also not the real isaac so he's an illusion). Guardian Boris playing the Instrument. Sarah on the ceiling with her head upside down(this was during the time when Boris played the Instrument for the exit).

The panels are about Felix hiding from the Night Terror as it went its way through (i think this was b4 Alice healed Bendy, and was when illusion "Alex" is there). Mayhem flying with her broom (i love her so muchhhh). The Night Terror turned gold as the light from Holly's staff touched it (it wasnt a staff, i aint so ure anymore, but i know this happened in inky mystery). Alice piercing the Night Terror's nape with the angel sword with anger (it was when b4 the anchor exit, when sarah tricked them into "escaping")

The panels are abt Mayhem being eaten by the Night Terror, only to explode it with her (green) magic and make it scream in excruciating pain. Tho, she ripped its human mouth on its back which made it stop (she was annoyed of its screams, and here ot was only a silhouette of her. Tho she showed extreme pleasure in silencing the beast). A figure of dark eyes appearing woth Boris' reflection (i headcanon its sarah, or maybe not. This was when alice and Holly were i Bigby's car in order to see the fairmont town. And during ther trip, they called Boris, who was on a school). Bendy and "Boris" (this one is actually Guardian Boris, just disguised his eyes) seeing a pool of blood before Boris stepped in and disappeared (well, this rlly confused me, but it was explained afterwards). The fence of Fairmont town. Sarah with her head cut off and is on fire ("THIS GIRL IS ON FIREEEE!!" lol, this was when bigby, mayhem, sarah and boris fought). Bendy hissing bcoz of his newly attained wound on his right eye (this was when mugman, cannikin, holly, felix, and alice went into Bendy's dreamt that Boris made for him... And it went into absolute massacre of "sillyvision"). The last one is The Tear, it was something mysterious that Sarah (and Boris) feared.

Hi! Since one's directed specifically to me, Raph can answer this one! (kinda confused about the first one tho, dunno what that means)

Depends on where you live, really. All yokai are shoved onto long island if they're from New York as in the state, so you got three choices: Brooklyn, Queens, or behind the wall. Brooklyn is probably your best bet if you're yokai. It's a lot better kept since Big Mama owns it and with the whole deal thing, Big Mama has a pretty good deal goin' for us. It's not like Staten Island or anything, but you do with what you got, y'know? Queens is more like trailer park/ factory workers. They're full of the factories and stuff that the humans employ yokai for so they don't have to, so production stuff like fabrics and other things that require a lot of manual labor besides energy and stuff, so it's a lil rough and tumble but not too much worse than Brooklyn. As for behind the wall, well... Behind the wall from what I've heard is cramped. Alexandri and Burkhart constantly complain about the lack of airspace. Alex also said somethin' about how it could be equated to Bronx for humans, but probably way worse so I'd assume its the worst of the three. Never seen behind the wall myself since that thing's been up since before Raph can remember and it reaches pretty high. Been to Bronx a couple times though, even with the bros before... y'know. The whole PBH thing, so...

As for the human side, well they got three options too. April knows the most about Bronx since she lived there before escapin', but essentially Bronx is where the lowest class humans live. Its cramped, dirty, and mostly full of factories like Queens. It's also where the shadiest of humans are and where Big Mama does her darkest deals. Then you have Manhattan where the nicer places are. Working class folk. Pops used to say the reason most of the deals happen in Manhattan is cuz there are plenty of underground markets that form cuz of how much more time they have compared to Bronx peeps. And then there's Staten. Staten Island is probably the most bougie place in New York City. Rich people live there, government officials and the like. The people who make the big bucks like company owners. It's where PBH is, and apparently there are three different facilities. Safe to say, As long as you're human, white, and live in either Manhattan or Staten Island, you're livin' at least comfy.

so luke’s always been plagued with the gift of seeing ghosts - he hates it, it’s mostly annoying when they show up unannounced declaring that he has to help them — and worst of all, it’s exhausting having to get rid of the creepy ones in ways other than just guiding them spiritually (ie beating the crap out of them)

it took up too much of his time and he just wanted to focus on his music man

he figures out at one point tho that he can make a business out of it — make some money by advertising his skills (without his parents knowing cause well. they wouldn’t necessarily agree to it) and getting people to pay him to ‘exorcise’ ie beat the crap out of ghosts that refuse to move on and just insist on haunting the living

(alex and reggie know about this of course. esp when they suddenly have nicer practice rooms to chill in. alex isn’t thrilled he’s actually terrified, but reggie just wants to join in on all the client calls luke gets)

AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING: so one day luke gets a text from a potential client asking him to head over to the abandoned los feliz high school building (that particular building was shut down a couple years ago because of a tragedy and hasn’t really been dealt with yet)

BUT BASICALLY the text asks him to check out the building cause there’s this one notorious ghost that keeps scaring all the high school students in the buildings nearby and they just need it to be dealt with (he’s seen those high school kids running past it like their lives depended on it

luke’s happy to oblige, especially when he finds out how much the client is willing to pay, and heads over — only to get the surprise of a lifetime. he meets a ghost who 1. turns out to be the one who texted him (so he’s not getting paid and that’s not great news) and 2. is a cute girl who looks very much human and not like any of the other ghosts he’s met before

he’s taken aback, especially when she kicks his ass (and helps him kick the resident ghost’s ass)

it’s a whole cat and mouse thing for a while, she keeps following him whenever he’s alone and he keeps telling her to leave him alone (mostly cause she’s hella cute and he seriously can’t afford to catch feelings for a dead girl yknow). he tells her she needs to pay him or move on and she keeps insisting that she just wants to figure out who she is!! how she died!! who her family is!! so that she can move on!!!

so they strike up a deal: he helps her (her name’s julie, by the way) figure out who she is, the mystery revolving her death and why she can’t remember anything, and she, in turn, helps him on the job (she’s got a wicked left kick), slowly paying him back with her skills since she never paid him for that one job (the abandoned high school building, remember that?)

so she tags along wherever he goes (at first to his dismay), even joining in on band practice (the boys know of her existence and try to be as considerate as possible considering they can’t see her)

things start to change between the two the second luke hears julie sing, fingers slipping on metal strings when she follows the melody perfectly and holy shit he’s a goner (the boys are confused af they’ve never seen luke lose focus when it comes to band practice)

THEY SPEND THE NIGHT TALKING AND HE FINDS OUT SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW SHE COULD SONG- he tries to get her to play various instruments to see maybe she was into that and turns out she can play piano!! and oh?? SHE CAN ALSO WRITE SONGS??? match made in heaven soulmates luke’s fucked and fully in love with a ghost etc etc

so this is where we meet our antagonist: the music teacher at los feliz, the one luke’s seen loitering around the high school (alex goes to that school and whenever luke stopped by for lunch he’d see the somewhat creepy teacher)

and he gets a bad feeling from him every single time

TO MAKE THIS SHORT LMAO: turns out julie’s accident had soemthing to do with the teacher, caleb covington, and turns out she was a student at that school!! 10 years ago!!

ALSO: SHES BOT ACTUALLY DEAD? SHES IN A COMA????? what a plot twist. it’s why she looks so normal so human. it’s why she’s never felt like any other ghost.

anyway stuff happens luke figures out caleb is some weird powerful ghost demon who sucks the life out of students for their talents and that’s what happened to julie except he never managed to finish the job.

luke finds a way to bring her back to life and together they fight caleb and it’s A HAPPY ENDING OH JESUS

julie starts working at a pet store, she meets reggie first, and he takes her round the store introducing her to all the animals and staff members and when they reach the puppies section they find a guy their age on the floor on his back being attacked by several puppies (licking his face) and it’s the cutest thing julie’s seen in a while

that is until reggie shouts “luke! new person coming through” and the boy on the floor sits up and julie sees his face and decides actually. that’s the cutest thing she’s seen in a while

she finds out he sings to the scared puppies and agitated animals at the store, and it melts her heart. he hears her sing along to one of his songs one day, matching the harmony perfectly, and he melts.

Hello Mun, Archangel fan over here. Glad to hear from you again. Hope you doing alright

It's been two months since Dark X-Men started so my review so far on the run (2 issues in) is:

They really did my boy dirty. He had one line of dialogue before going down, without a fight, in the very first issue and got ditched by his whole squad while he was still bleeding on the floor (sounds harshly hyperbolic but there was a teenager right next to him whom they all had the time to take with them as they left). Now, the "Archangel gets mind-controlled after being kidnapped on a mission" plotline is nothing new but they at least follow up on in the very next issue so no time is wasted. I could see an improvement on his situation so I'm not so mad

Other than how they treated my fav, I'd say every other character is pretty much in-character? It's been forever since any mutant's been written this way so I'm genuinely happy. Havok (Alex Summers) still has the same characterization from Dark Web tho which is a bit disappointing because it was rather reductive of who he was. I get it tho, this run is very much a follow up on that event sadly so they can't really stray on what it established even if that wasn't a good story in the slightest

I like the concept because it's pretty much what the X-Men used to do/be : Rescuing mutants in need. Being dramatic. Having feuds. Not always seeing eye to eye. Interesting settings. I really missed that and with a team this messy and uncoordinated, those things were a given

The worldbuilding is really really interesting. So far, nothing contradicts what we knew about 616 during Krakoa and things only get deeper in the Fall of X setting with DXM. We get information on both mutants, Orchis, humans, allies and enemies, magic and technology. It's pretty extensive

I still raised a brow a few times while reading but seeing how fast paced everything is (only a few hours passed at best and everyone is always doing something) I can forgive that. It's their first missions on their first night and, again, they're naturally uncoordinated

There's a few mysteries here and there to be solved and I can't wait to see what's in store

It was way less graphic than I expected. I know it was advertised as a violent horror series (and it does deliver) but with everything Kitty Pryde has pulled in X-Men since Fall of X started, DXM looks... erm... tame in comparison? "Graphic violence" is a bit subjective of a description sure, however Kitty is more sadistic in her solo approach than 4 long established vilains (Zero, Emplate, Goblin Queen and Azazel) who have little to no limitations in the amount of chaos they are allowed to bring. So yea

Overall? Good read so far. It was more fun to me than Uncanny Spider-Man which just came out... That one left me more confused than anything (the exposition dump didn't help) and felt so disconnected from everything around it: I can't tell when it's supposed to take place in, be it for Spider-Man (who's currently bad after being stabbed with Norman Osborn's evil essence and still has bad rep with the FF and Avengers), or the whole Fall of X deal (there are solo mutant heroes and full on teams going around New York right now but no one contacted Kurt yet even tho his costume is that obvious?)

It WAS super weird they just left him when the next day Maddie went out of her way to save her trophy boyfriend but ok Marvel 🤣

I don't have any issues with Uncanny Spider-Man yet but I do agree if you at least look at it from the X-Men's storyline it IS disconnected. And not in a way where we get that Kurt is aloof on purpose, but the writing does not help link it to any other parts of the FOX storylines 😅. Dude is really just on his own

supernatural creature au is what happened when i watched twilight on new years eve and got the fatal hubris arc of "i could do that too" and then i spent the early hours of 2023 brainworming with alex

anyways. important things beneath the cut:

main plot:

yuno, mimosa, and klaus are all working for a monster hunting company (idk if its the right term. group?) (run by william (it's the golden dawn stand in)) and they go to this isolated ass washington town to stand in and see if there's any supernatural activity and if the dawn needs to intervene. however yuno finds out asta is living there after going missing when they were eight and he's like "OK i need to figure out what happened why is asta living with vampires what the fuck."

lore:

hunters: humans (traditionally, although there have been some inhuman hunters) who study or kill the supernatural. these people usually have the sight, which is something that allows them to see a supernatural's identity in the form of an aura. it doesnt protect them from getting Fucked Up by their quarry but they do at least know who they're looking for

vampires: all stem from the witch queen and have their own families which fall under the queen's umbrella family. the witch queen very rarely turns people herself. her "daughters" (the other witches) are full vampires and are more superior than those who are turned in terms of power.

the werewolves and the fae kinda. they're classic legends they vibin i think

mimosa, doesn't actually wanna hurt anyone, she's looking for her cousin who also went missing

gordon, he's fully 100% human but no one thinks he is because he's so weird :( sorry king

asta, is he entirely human? no one knows. he never had the sight to begin with and that's either because he just wasnt predisposed or he's Something Else

william, he's the head of their gang(?) and he may or may not be married to an unseelie faery

julius, william's superior/father figure, he's just a sweet lil guy,,,

vampires:

vanessa, princess of the undead, mommy issues supreme, she owns a club called "love bites" and she thinks its funny

finral, officially her thrall and unofficially her girlfriend, came from a family of hunters but like asta never got the sight. he's not a vampire per se, but he's not entirely human after being vanessa's for so long though

noelle, vanessa's newest addition to her little squad, abandonment issues up the wazoo, she's got a wicked grudge she wants to kill nozel watch out braid bitch (mimosa is very confused upon seeing her)

gauche, vanessa's other addition, he's been Around for a while and he begged nessa to turn him so he could protect marie (marie's a vampire too she's just kinda hanging around)

nacht, mentally ill bitch from the 1800's with a grudge against the witch queen a mile fucking wide, he doesnt actually belong to the vampire families like most of the other vampires despite being turned by the witch queen

magna, bruiser from the 30's who nacht initially recruited to try and kill the witch queen who he then turned after magna was killed by a rival gang. he's been adopted. the only one who knows how to piss off nacht at any given moment

werewolves:

yami, single dad who works two jobs, was a hunter before being turned and then his dad tried to kill him for it, he isnt in contact with ichika any more because he doesn't want to hurt her

luck, turned by yami age five and spent most of his time until he was twelve in dog form, he's still learning how to be human, killed his mom on his first transformation

zora, came around to yami's house fairly recently, he's still on the lookout for the bitches who killed his dad, he's a born werewolf so you can see how this caused lots of problems for his dad (also a werewolf)

charmy, just kind of showed up one day, perpetually hungry, has the power to fistfight an elder god but she won't bc she is Sleepy, best dogform for hugs

other:

secre, a human cursed to be a bird by the fae, she's sick of this life but she does enjoy being Held

henry, a ghost who haunts the bookshop nacht owns, asta is his bestever friend

grey, a shapeshifter who lives in the woods and will bite you if they get the chance they have trust issues :(

rufel, seelie of the summer courts, gay ass, owns the mushroom circle in yami's backyard

patri, unseelie of the autumn court, met william when he was fairly young for fae standards and as such never developed the dismissive attitude the others in his court have towards humans

we often alternate between using plural or singular terms when referring to ourselves. but it feels weird sometimes cause like been learning grammar since kindergarten and this isn't proper grammar. but like we like no being singular. like yeah it's annoying sometimes but we are us. we make up the singular. I hate how confusing refer to myself is. I've also noticed that like I don't think anyone other than {the host} has fully fronted by themselves. normally host steps back and alter kinda take over but hosts still there helping keep things all good. which makes it even harder to notice shifts. like we all are Crow even the fictives. yes they have their own names but we all make up Crow. honestly the only ones who have any specific name or pronouns preferences are the fictives. everyone else is kinda just like Crow or Alex it/he and then masc or neutral terms. some prefer being more masc some prefer more neutral and like all of us kinda like not being refered to as human. but like yeah. only alters I've noticed having any other names or pronouns preferences or things like that are my fictives. and honestly Fizz is really the only one with more pronoun and stuff, cause like Fizz is gay so often when he's fronting more attracted to men, and then like only likes he him, he understands people not using Fizz for him tho cause like we are all good the body's name is Alex or Crow. Lucifer honestly doesnt care how we refer to him but knows the rest of the system doesn't like they/them or she/her so they make sure no one uses those pronouns for us.

@theconfusedartist oh damn!! I see some serious angst in the future. Elijah knew about the assassins and everything tho. So Bill was assuming and just saying shit because he is emotionally constipated and can’t express anything. Imogen will try to stab Alex, it could be funny cause it’s not like that will hurt him. Also if Bill did get Elijah then it’s likely he might break and kill Bill by accident by virus/POE bullshit

( @zero-saito ) Yeah, this particular act opens up really bittersweet bc on one hand, Alex and Desmond get reunited with each other and the rest of their family but on the other hand, the assassin order is furious due to what's happened and believe that Desmond has either defected or is actively an enemy to their order.

And yes, Elijah DID know everything about the assassins, even though Desmond had left the order he still lived by the creed, and did his best to pass on as much knowledge as he could so Elijah would never feel like he had felt; confused and bitter from the withholding of information. It wasn't always the best bc there are some things that children shouldn't know, but Desmond still told him anyways with Altaïr being the co-parent. Clay was the fun Uncle but Elijah knew why Clay left bc Desmond explained the whole process of becoming and being an assassin. Even if Elijah didn't entirely understand bc Desmond didn't entirely understand the "whys" of things, he still tried to explain the best he could with his fractured knowledge.

Also, Bill was grieving and saw in Elijah a chance for redemption, despite the fact that he didn't learn the lesson he needed to. After all, Desmond had just died (as it was less than a week after the Grand Temple was activated and they all presumed Desmond as dead) so the wound was fresh, and although the assassins had heard Desmond was (possibly) traveling with a child that wasn't his own, it's hard to deny that Elijah is Desmond’s. The same dark curly hair, the same brown eyes, and pout he would get when he was upset. Looking at Elijah, it's hard to see him as anything BUT Desmond’s child and it only enflames that spark of desperation to have a tie ro his now (whom he believes to be) dead son that he had been looking for for years, only to permanently lose him again.

So Bill doesn't explain well, he doesn't go for the gentle approach once Elijah greets him with suspicion, and he tries to force Elijah to come back with him. And Alex, who had only been holding back from killing Bill because of Desmond, sees Bill trying to take his adopted son (the child he had considered his both as a human and as a virus) by force? There's no talking or diplomacy, Alex does what Alex knows best: causing mayhem and death. Bill did not stand a chance.

In the same vein, Imogen is a whirlwind of death and destruction with silent grace. She and Bill may have had ups and downs in their relationship, but she still loved him deeply and was expecting him to come home, for the two of them to grieve their now-dead son. However, now she has to deal with the news that not only is Desmond dead, Bill is dead, she apparently has a grandchild and the man who killed her husband is Alex Mercer--the man who infected all of Manhattan and killed millions.

She's already on a warpath, looking for any way to kill him, but then the news comes out on March 13 (the day that Alex rescues Desmond, the day Desmond finished the last of permutation 26). Desmond was seen fleeing Abstergo with Alex Mercer before returning to Manhattan. The absolute shock and betrayal she feels is better expressed in a long form fic than this, tbh, and then Lucy calls in with her progress report? By the time Imogen calls for them in for a trial, she wonders if she even knows Desmond if he's still the boy he raised. After all, what kind of son would love the monster that killed their own father?

More on Elijah though, his PoE powers are very different from Desmond’s as he has more human/Isu genes than he does PoE genes, which was exactly what the Isu wanted. He has the ability to see into the near future, can tell when someone is lying or being untruthful (I make that distinction bc he can tell when people are using half-truths or lying by omission), can sense other PoE and Isu, and can create a barrier of light to protect himself. He can also heal himself too, which was Desmond’s strongest power when with Altaïr, but not to the extent Desmond or Altaïr can. Elijah doesn't have any virus abilities except in permutation 23, and when infected he becomes immune to all sickness.

The way Blacklight works in this au is that you can only get the crazy and virus powers if you die as you're infected or die after getting infected, as Blacklights primary purpose is to devour any cells or anamolies in the host body and improve upon upon health, memory, and healing. However, Blacklight becomes dangerous when it is attached to a dead host as the cells will continue to infinitely generate in an attempt to repair the host, and will devour and reconstruct anything that it considers foreign when introduced to the host body, and must consistently be intaking new cells when the host body is dead or has no host to sustain itself. In permutation 23, Alex managed to get the information from the reader in permutation 17 of his own notes early and then increased the deadliness and strength of the virus to the power of 100 rather than 10 as he had in all the other timelines.

I just wanted to say something about the protocreed au:

The reader is Desmond, Desmond is the reader. He just needed to run 26 permutations to get to that phase. Afterwards, he still would've been able to view and change the past/present/future at any time in his regular body while his consciousness (and Clay) remain in the Grey.

But Abstergo just had to go and fuck things up for ya boi😮‍💨 yet again

Alex does help out, but he had to leave when Desmond activated the Eye, due to all the intense heat and phosphorus adamantium that was literally deconstructing him on a molecular level.

Also, to get back to Elijah to make sure neither the assassins or Templars get their hands on him, bc he'll be damned if he let's Bill get his grubby little hands on him.
