None of the characters are 1:1s of each other but I'm tired of people slandering Ted's name by saying JIMMY is his counterpart. (btw I wanna mention that yea ik that Ted and Jimmy have some similarities but there just aren't ENOUGH for me to say they are counterparts.) Ted - Curly ~ My reasoning: They both are morally grey characters who really just. Do not make the best decisions. However, said decisions are heavily influenced by the environment they're stuck in, as well as their less-than-perfect mental states. (Ted's. Everything. And Curly's heavily implied depression.) This doesn't justify their decisions, but it does show they aren't choosing to be bad. Both try their best to save their companions and suffer body mutilation after the fact. (Ted was actually successful in saving the other 4, Curly... he tried okay.) No I will not be taking any debate on this, if I do get into a debate about this I'm worried I'd get mad. and I prefer being filled with joy and whimsy.

Ellen - Anya ~ My reasoning: okay I don't think I really need to explain myself here, but I may as well point out how I wish Ellen got the respect Anya did. I'm so sorry these two have to be stuck with men. Moving on.

Gorrister - Swansea ~ My reasoning: They're both old and somewhat apathetic about the situation they're stuck in. (Considering the canon you're looking at they also both have wives) They're also both a wee bit rude but one can see that as part of their charm. Not much I can say here I just think they're similar.

Nimdok - Jimmy ~ My reasoning: I don't like them. Seriously I don't know why we didn't immediately shove these two together, no one likes Jimmy, no one likes Nimdok. and for GOOD REASON. (yes I am aware both have fans, I'm just hoping they're fans for non-problematic reasons) I don't care, I don't care. I'm putting them together, like I said they can't all be 1:1. If we look at the game canon for Nimdok (which is the only real characterization we get considering he's kind of just, there, in the book) he actively makes horrible decisions, he chooses to be bad. Yk who ELSE makes the active decision to do bad shit? Jimmy. Benny - Daisuke ~ My reasoning: yeah this is why I said at the beginning not everything is a 1:1. I genuinely don't think Daisuke has a proper counterpart in the story (because they're different stories!) but if I were to point out similarities, I'd point out naivety, and facial mutilation. That's all I got for ya.

So the first one is 1h30m i believe, and I know when I watched it and saw I was 40 minutes in i was like wow its been that long and it feels like not much has happened huh. But then it did what it did and it ended.

For the second one I was like oh its been 40 minutes. Hopefully it starts kicking off like the first one. And then after what felt like an hour only 10 more minutes had passed LOL and the entire rest of the movie felt dis way

I like that this one had more of a semblance of a plot... The clown cafe song is stuck in my head... Sfx is good but hm im not sure how to describe this....im not one of those "omg this is just a legal snuff film u guys are evil for watching this" people nor am i a "ermm if u cant handle this ur a prude and a little baby actually" person but more somewhere in between or outside. I love movie gore, when i was younger I watched Saw SOLELY for the traps, i didnt even know the plot until more recently LMAO

but obviously That One Scene...idk! I dont think it was too much in the "prude" way nor was i clapping and cheering but it did evoke a "ok come on wrap it up" feeling from me...like these faces combined...does dis make sense. Maybe I'm just desensitized from dealing with like cptsd probably ocd neurotic soup unchecked for my whole life and finding ways to just phase out the chatter of it but seeing ppl here talk abt moral ocd and stuff in a way where they refuse to be reminded of racism or anything is baffling to me. Like I don't get how that's helpful for you, instead of separating thoughts and morals from yourself and your actions you're just going oh no my religious ocd is triggered when ppl talk about me having privilege or benefitting from systemic oppression so therefore I'm never going to interact with marginalized people who talk about it ect ect ect. also. speaking of andvir. been considering what i want to do with that mfs gender. i think they're technically transmasc bc they were labeled female at birth. but they're intersex and ended up with a lot of 'masculine' physical traits without medical/magical treatments pretty much as soon as they hit puberty. they're fine with being seen as a man but have kind of a weird relationship to their gender bc it gave them a lot of grief growing up. they aren't that worried about it these days on account of being more focused on killing and maiming tho

toby's bedroom isn't small but it is a little cramped on account of the books and notebooks and loose-leaf paper stacked on every bookshelf and desk and chair (he's gained his collection over time, which makes it even more precious; he had much less in college) light teal blues and deep browns and white are the vibes i get. he has a window to the left of his bed but the curtains are never open. it's rarely neat but it's almost never dirty (tbf it's primary use is collapsing in bed after work so there's not a lot of time for it to Get dirty).

ohhh well he does have both they just apply to different parts of him and they r both actually such important parts of his character. like on the one hand he has a terrible inferiority complex where he believes he doesn't really deserve to be where he is which is exacerbated by the fact he now Knows someone else was intended to have his job (and even if people tell him he was the right choice in retrospect, that doesn't make the second-best feeling go away). he never won til bartlet. his wife left him. he doesn't believe he can be a good father.

but his superiority complex is moral yknow. that's the crux of so many of his arcs. he is relentless in his pursuit of doing the right thing when it counts and i think he doesn't understand why others aren't. which is why he kept going even when he wasn't winning. it's not that he doesn't understand cruelty and evil in the world, bc he does very well, it's that when he finds someone he believes to be a good person, he doesn't understand why they can't always do the right thing

Which of the DP episodes are you ignoring or have mentally rewritten? One of them for me is Memory Blank because Sam was being horribly written there and acted really creepily. For Danny, it's that he intentionally overshadowed Tucker against his will at the school dance. That was just so creepy and wrong.

The only episode that I presently am just hard-line ignoring is Phantom Planet for reasons that are...fairly obvious I think (it's just really bad lol). For the purposes of CiM, it takes place a few months after the events of "D-Stabilized" as evidenced by Valerie's whole deal.

And you're right, there are a lot of poorly written episodes in the series, but there's also some pretty cool things too. Like "Beauty Marked" for example. I dislike the general premise that Sam goes full "I'm not like the other girls" and just the whole beauty pageant in general (because these girls are high schoolers and beauty pageants are some of the most toxic and exploitative environments a girl could find herself in--looking at you Toddlers in Tiaras) and from what I remember, the writing seemed to be fighting itself on whether or not to paint Sam in the right for deeming beauty pageants dumb (correct) and hyper-feminine styles as boring/bad (way too nuanced of an issue to boil down to a simple yes/no).

BUT. It gave us the basis for Sam and Dora being friends, which I've obviously taken into my story.

To get back to your question, there aren't really many episodes that I'm overtly changing or straight up ignoring because CiM takes place after all of that, so it would just eat up more narrative space for me to have to explain to the audience that I've rewritten or retconned this or that episode.

Also, I'm trying to not give into the urge to iron out every possible wrinkle in the canon material itself (aside from basic worldbuilding stuff. Like the mechanics of ghosts and magic and creating areas in the Zone. The Overgrowth, which was offhandedly mentioned this last chapter, is an area of my own design) because I want to use some of those bad character writing decisions to give the Trio more nuance.

After all, they're just barely out of their preteens at the start of the series and I think it's a safe bet that literally everyone makes at least one boneheaded or even toxic decision during that time frame. Life is messy, but high school years are even more so because you're trying to figure out who you are. In your teenage years, you're just starting to become your own person! Of course you're going to have some terrible opinions and make some horrifying choices.

What's important is whether you learn from your past mistakes and grow as a person, or stay stubbornly entrenched in your past actions (or worse, try to excuse them).
