i always see hcâs about sirius & lily bonding over their estranged relationships with their siblings but what we really need to discuss is how itâs another reason for them to mistrust and/or dislike and/or not respect each other because reg & lily feel like they were abandoned while sirius & petunia are the older siblings who left them behind ..
#need them to project their sibling trauma onto each other in unhealthy and unfair ways im afraid.#need sirius to defend petunia for no other reason than her being an older sister and knowing nothing else about her#need lily to defend regulus just because hes a younger sibling and knowing less than nothing about their upbringing#trauma makes people irrational and project and jump to conclusionsâŠâŠ Lets Talk.#sirius sympathizing with petunia without knowing her but knowing lily#lily sympathizing with reg without knowing him and knowing sirius#RRRAAAAAHHHHHHH#why is kara on holiday come back we need to talk about this#the way this could affect my regtunia is sooo yummyâŠ

going back to s3 malevolent and good LORD this shit is so good. forgot how absolutely insane it is. easily my fav season (though i do love me my medieval jaunts) this just has something mixed in it thats so damn captivating
#malevolent#arthur malevolent#malevolent podcast#jarthur#arthur lester#john doe#malevolent season 3#part 21 ending is fun in a pathetic way but also interesting to see yellow start thinking#and ofc 23 goes insane with it#i love the narrative structure of having arthur and johns prison pit ordeal juxtaposed with arthur and yellows exploits#itâs very neat to see how MUCH it haunts arthur and how he cant quite come to grips with it#the back and forth of both events makes it so thematically gripping#yellow and john are different#but how?#arthurs different treatment of them is fascinating#and while you understand and sympathize with why arthur is doing what hes doing#you still feel a little bad for how short or curt or dismissive arthur is with yellow at times#even though he would act that way with john sometimes#theres the mutual understanding of we need to cooperate#arthur is less lenient and willing to extend benefit of the doubt to essentially proto john#and itâs so fascinating bc arthur is so quick to assume the worst about yellow but would be so gentle#at times with john#hes less trusting which tracks with what happened previously#but at the same time its like no arthur please dont take it out on yellow#arthur john and yellow are so messy and flawed but so completely human in how they act and react in this season itâs so so interesting to me#nature va nurture theme my absolute fucking BELOVED

You know the writing of a character is good when they are literally a rich cop and you got me yelling at my screen âeat the richâ and âall cops are bastardsâ but also making me feel so bad for her as well as we see her change completely the grief fully consuming her and stripping her of all her morals leaving behind one thing rage
#the writers of arcane really do it like no other#to have Caitlyn act as basically the heart of the show in season 1 to completely spin her around to go full dictator#and show all of her prejudices unfiltered IS SUCH A FASCINATING place to take her character#we WOULD NOT sympathize with cait even we didnât see her actions the previous season because itâs easier to sympathize with characters#like vi or jinx due to them representing us the everyday citizens who get fucked over by the biased corrupted system which is why we needed#a season to get to know cait the rich cop before we remember SHE A RICH COP WHO HAS LIVED A PRIVILEGED LIFE but is also grieving horribly#the writerâs rent were DUE because goddamn#arcane#arcane caitlyn#caitlyn kiramman#caitlyn arcane

saw a comment on a livejournal bh meta post from 2013 that sent me on an internal hero's journey about sexual misconduct and gendered power in being human
#'what's the point of patsy' fair question. she's kind of a one note somewhat uncomfortable comic relief character that dies after 2 episodes#but to give her a fair shake#I think she's the only example of a female character being directly sexually predatory to a man that we have on the show#and she's targeting a known lady killer who is (for the time being) occupying a subordinate position to her#I think it's important that she's clearly the one in the wrong there but alex still gets upset at *hal* for potentially endangering her#by existing in the world and thereby allowing her to feel attracted to him#you can sympathize with why she's saying that but it still feels skeevy#I also think that situation has some parallels with hal and natasha's deal#weird sexualized interactions between employee and manager that Should Not be happening. mixed signifiers of power.#women initiating interactions with hal and him going along with it because he wants/needs a specific thing from them#tom being indirectly involved and impacted by the results of these relationships#patsy asking hal for a massage -> hal taking blood from natasha#there's Stuff here#marina marvels at life#being human#edit: forgor about yvonne almost blackwidowing tom so patsy isn't the Only example but I think the rest of my points stand

i feel like the ancients in frontiers bother me but im having a hard time pinning down the exact specifics of it. i don't think i have a problem with them being an alien ancient civilization, but the execution of them feels kind of. generic. beyond the implied connection to chaos that is. the echidnas were portrayed as warmongering and power hungry, likely due to their leadership, and they have an interesting position as a part of knuckles' heritage when knuckles is in several ways the exact opposite of their ideals - a peaceful guardian who seeks to preserve and not to conquer. the ancients in boom were left vague due to the dev hell and the repeat rewrites of the story, but in some ways it does them favors i'd say. they are a looming presence upon bygone island, their history scattered about and left to be rediscovered. supposedly a peaceful society sans lyric, who was able to cause havoc and destruction perhaps because the rest of his people did not have something like an army to fight back immediately. lyric was the only one who had any sort of ties to military concepts. the cartoon gives the ancients impressive technology, but i can't recall it being too much more than just fun machines whose primary purposes were along the lines of transportation and entertainment. i think those sort of implications make the ancients more interesting than they perhaps could've been if they were given some kind of obvious and explicit military history.
the frontiers' ancients feel like some kind of unsuccessful middle ground of those concepts i think? we are directed to see them as the peaceful underdogs while they also have a massive military presence and horrific tools of war that we fight directly over the course of the game, that we Require super sonic to bring down. i understand that at least some of that arsenal was built to fight the end, but then you juxtapose that advanced and destructive technology with the seemingly rural architecture littering the islands that, unlike the titans, has rotted and decayed in the face of nature. is that not supposed to speak of their priorities as society? or were their stay at the islands always supposed to be temporary? but then why build something like the cyberspace which is very much connected to the islands themselves?
i don't know maybe im missing something, maybe i've been thinking about the portrayal of military forces in sonic too hard lately, it just bothers me that the ancients are simultaneously supposed to be both a competent and strong military presence which the DLC only amplifies, and a peaceful society that would never even think about doing anything other than defend themselves with that destructive military they've built for themselves
#soda offers you a can#perhaps if we just knew a little bit more about them you know#maybe they used their technology for entertainment and utility before the end came into the picture#maybe the military utilization was something they were forced to develop while on the islands#but the way the DLC presents them kind of muddies that theory doesn't it#when the koco represent jaded warriors and a military leader who's been in that position for years and years#it feels like a case where they can't just redo the echidna clan (if they'd even want that sort of military portrayal now anyway)#but need an excuse for the titans to be tied into the ancients somehow#while also making sure the ancients are sympathetic to us and the underdogs we root for#but instead of handling that with the kind of interesting nuance where the society at large appears morally dubious#but individuals within that society are still people with hopes and dreams we can sympathize with#they try to paint the whole society as sympathetic and it's. well. it feels weird to me i think

upd8.... spoilers
i will say im liking how the new crew is treating this plotpoint. also i. love women. thought i should mention that
the freaking. the lipstick color.
going from roses color to kanayas aarghh [holding head] <- victors reaction to the most basic and straightforward symbolism
but also gosh. jade bringing up how gods are treated... you see people cracking jokes about it but, obvious horrible behavior aside. shes right! none of them are really capable of making a real connection! theyre caged, trapped even, within this circle of people theyve known since they were 13. and thats kinda messed up!! a little bit!!! it sucks!!!!
btw say what you will but i missed ruby. her whimsy...
the artists have been absolutly kicking it out of the park btw! like aghhh! must stress again that i love women
#homestuck^2#upd8 spoilers#theres an inate need for me to sympathize with jade due to just how bad its all been for her. writing wise. to even lead to this point#but kanaya has every right to be that furious. she might even be giving them too much leyway#im quite happy with how stuff is being written rn (not the plot. the plot is really sad)#i was afraid id have to drop the moment the cheating plotpoint came back but the way its being handled is#very readable. yknow?#those âwere doing this cause we hate youâ vibes are not here

The thing about teaching kids reading and writing in school is, I do think more schools could stand to intersperse the classics with some modern YA/juve fic, because
Keeping kids interested is important to helping them learn. That's easier if they're engaged, and they will engage more readily with popular stories. There are plenty of good popular stories, just like there are shitty classics.
Compare and contrast is a GREAT way to introduce them to ideas like unreliable narrators, protagonists you're not necessarily intended to like, narrative styles, etc.
You have to teach someone HOW to read critically/with intent. it's not something most people just know how to do. And you can do that with any text; arguably, they'll take to it more readily if it's something they want to read. Then getting them to apply it to something they're less engrossed in as a learning exercise is less like getting blood from a stone.
You don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. This doesn't have to be Divergent 'instead of' 1984. It's 'Divergent and 1984, tell me things that you feel they had in common and did not, explain how the explored themes of governmental control and how this damages society as a whole and individuals in particular'.
If the only books you're letting them read is a curated list from 30+ years ago, you have to expect pushback and shouldn't be shocked when they're like 'why can't I examine [popular series actually aimed at them here] instead'.
#I mean I liked a lot of the books we read#I struggled with the plays but the books#weren't that hard except for how fucking#slow I read#but I completely sympathize with#'why can I not read#divergent or ari and dante or holes or'#we should not be shocked they want something#they can personally connect to#we just need to acknowledge that there's a broader spectrum#and we should be exposing them to more of it#in our efforts to teach thhem#irony 30+ years ago is still the 90s lol#I guess I mean 50+ years ago#dating myself with that mistake lol

People on social media will get mad as hell and call you problematic if you enjoy a villain for being, well, a villain.
#txt#âthis villain promotes bad valuesâ ok and what's your point?#just because a character is morally questionable it doesn't mean i can't like them lmao#we are in an age where you can't like anything that isn't âpureâ and âprogressiveâ. fuck off#now if the villain's stans are actually trying to paint them as a poor misunderstood angel victim that's DIFFERENT#and let's be honest stans (usually female mind you) do this when the villain is attractive/hot/sexy#if a dude is ugly or fat there is no way you would have swarms of women defending that son of a bitch#but because he was drawn to be hot (or the actor who plays is hot) some chicks are READY to paint him as a poor baby#like... baby you are missing the point#just appreciate that son of a bitch as he is. there is no need to âsympathizeâ with him#i miss it when villains were villains and people appreciated that about them#anyways yes a character can be a very shitty person and you can still like them because that's the entire point of them#they are the antagonist/villain#i enjoy palpatine as a villain but that doesn't mean i think he was a poor lonely wholesome baby#that piece of shit deserved to be burn in hell lol but he still is a fantastic villain#but again tumblr twitter and fandom in general have no grasp of the concept of enjoying villains because they are villains#one side thinks you are fucking evil and disgusting if you admit to enjoying a villain#and the other side wants to find every justification in the book to paint the pos as an actual good person who is misunderstood :( because#that mofo has a six pack and a nice smile or is generally visually appealing lol

These sobs really limited my tags?????
I have so many more thoughts this is so so much less than 1/2. Broski. Big dislike
#its âi watched a tv show and i need to talk about it in the tags of this site im not on anymoreâ time#ty to the void for always accepting my thoughts <3#so honestly its just me thinking about the andromeda tv show. i just finished it and it left me destitute bc i clung onto the first 2 season#s as a basis and had ten thousand questions i *assumed* would be resolved. spoiler alert: they were nto#not*. and the coda addition helps but like. not enough. it explains some of the#oh fyi if anyone is reading or cared there will be spoilers#anyways it explained some of them ex for the cosmic engine bit. seemed pretty relevant and then was never mentioned again#i also MUCH prefer that version of trance â i had speculation she was a sun avatar which i took as confirmation when i finally noticed her#tattoo when harper used it to remind himself he put that data in the sun etc etc but i much prefer the sun-as-consciousness-astral-poject-#ing-slash-dreamjng-itself-a-body / being a little devil. i think that feels much more true to what we got in worldbuilding early on and tbh#the bar is on the floor bc any explanation would be better than what we got. also im sorry but s5 i trusted SO hard that that whole virgil#vox bit in the finale was insulting. couldnt even tie up the loose end you invented at the last minute????? MY god. i understand getting you#r budget halved but like. broski. it would have been better to ignore it at that point imo.#anywhoodle. i also have just ISSUES w the lack of resolution & not doing justice to literally any character#listen. why would you sink SO much effort into tyr just to have honestly what i feel is a disrespectful end to that character. like#tyr required me to do a LOT of thinking bc i sympathized with his position in exile etc while thinking also bro thats real fucked up. bro#stop thats fuckinng e*genics again dude. tbh with the entire species (im not looking up how to spell that rn) bc like the foundation of#their entire race is e*ugenics. (sorry censoring bc im in the tags just venting about tv) which obviously is a terrible idea but i think the#so it was like i am fundamentally against the concept but in show universe theg obviously did it etc but for me provided such a huge like#context to the universe. i fundamentally am not on board with all the commonwealth stuff like yeah i get it the magog are bad and scary but#like the neitzcheans (sp??? idc) are also Right There bein scary. then theres the âenhancedâ debate re dylan beka etc that like. is the same#but ââdifferentââ i guess. đ anyways that is just to point out like. the level of thinking this show put me through just to blindside me w/#no resolution. i had SO much hope. tyr selling iut to the abyss is disrespectful to all of the established work the actor did for him and#to the character as well even if i think the ideology is icky. he was shown to be even less and less self-centric survival guy as it went on#and also tbh i didnt understand the him stealing his kids dna thing. i really thought that was gonna gi in a different less bs direction#okay also while im here can i just say. that tyr and dylan had THE most romantic tension to me. everyone else felt very friendshipy and i am#NOT one to usually fall into a âthey obviously should be togetherâ pipeline that the writers dont make themselves. but the back and forth (#and intense eye contact) had me sitting there like. it was made in 2000 i know they wont do it but for not doing it they sure did! not that#i think theyâd make a good couple (they would not) but that there was definitely something there on the dl you know? something more than#âmutual respectâ you feel? and tbh! they also ruined the tyr beka thing by making her the matriarch. big ew huge ick.

anyway here's a trick i've learned recently
when people are trying to schedule me an appointment at a drs offices they always act frustrated when i say i can't do early morning appointments. i've always operated under 'don't explain yourself, just ask for what you need' as a principle with this sort of thing, but at some point when a nurse kept pushing me for an earlier appointment i just told her the truth, that it's because i have a diabetic cat and need to watch over him in the mornings, and suddenly she was a LOT more sympathetic. so i've been doing this ever since, and there's been like, 0 pushback on it
i'm assuming the normal frustration is because they think that i just can't wake up in the morning, which is a bullshit reason to be frustrated with a patient, but welp.
so there's an excuse you can try out if you're not a morning person. just tell them you have a sick pet
#if your body isn't used to it it's not reasonable to expect to be able to wake up at 6 am without adjusting to it first#which is a really difficult process!#and even disregarding that some people just don't function well in the AM because that's the way their brain works#mental illness can really fuck up your sleep and yknow MAYBE we shouldn't shame patients for that lol...#but also like i AM a morning person but when my mi was bad i was always waking up super late#and i felt HORRIBLE all fucking day because my sleep schedule wasn't attuned to what i needed#like if i fall asleep at 2 AM i'll feel way way way better if i wake up at 7 AM than if i wake up at 10#just this wretched grogginess and brain fog that lingers all day#so it's easy to sympathize with people whose sleep needs aren't matched up to what society wants from them#gay piracy

I feel like SAWTOWNEâs âConfessions of a Rotten Girlâ is so good partially because of how it makes even people who may dislike fujoshis sympathize with Miku, and itâs interesting that itâs not actually done by painting her as âone of the good onesâ. Everything thatâs despised about fujoshi culture, Miku explicitly is portrayed as doing.
Disliking female characters on the basis of them âgetting in the wayâ (and being quite misogynistic about it to boot), sexualizing and shipping men in real life (the men portrayed in the song are her teachers), and even the yaoi paddle known for being used to sexually harass cosplayersâŠ
⊠all these aspects are there. Hell, one of the most disliked part about fujoshi culture from a social justice standpoint â the language of describing queer relationships as âsinfulâ â is the whole basis behind the song.
However, SAWTOWNE, instead of lessening that toxic trait, âyes, andâs it. âYes, she calls queer relationships sinful, as a (presumably) heterosexual woman who finds their relationship gratifying. AND, the reason she does that is because she is a sexually repressed Christian who feels guilty about having any sexual desire whatsoever.â
I think that one (very clever!) addendum makes it so any discomforting aspects to the song takes a backseat. Instead of being a song about trying to resist an interest in yaoi / The Gays specifically, it more so becomes a song about trying to resist any âabnormalâ sexual desires, which makes it very easy to like this version of Miku, even as someone who very much dislikes the aspects of fujoshi culture she represents.
Plus we need more gooner girl rep anyway, lol. (As a comment on the video said: close enough! Welcome back Plus Boy!)

THE ERA OF VANISHING HAS BEGUN
They are not arresting people. They are vanishing them.
Rumeysa Ozturk wasnât read her rights. She wasnât told why she was being detained. She was walking to break her fast in Somerville, Massachusetts when masked men in an unmarked SUV pulled up, took her phone, slapped on handcuffs, and dragged her into a vehicle like she was some kind of national security threat.
Sheâs a doctoral student. A Fulbright scholar. A trauma researcher. But in Donald Trumpâs America, she fit the profile: Muslim, foreign-born, sympathetic to Palestinians.
Now sheâs locked in a for-profit detention center in Louisiana, hundreds of miles from her lawyer, after a federal judge specifically said she wasnât to be moved.
They moved her anyway. Because rules no longer apply to those with badges â real or fake.
A MOVEMENT BUILT ON CHAINS AND COWARDS
Alireza Doroudi is gone too.
Heâs a doctoral student at the University of Alabama, born in Iran, studying mechanical engineering. No criminal record. No warning. Just scooped off the grid.
ICE refuses to say where heâs being held. No public charge has been announced. His only crime appears to be existing in the wrong body, from the wrong country, in the wrong era.
Mahmoud Khalil was next â a Columbia student, arrested for leading pro-Palestinian protests. Trump labeled him a âradical foreign Hamas sympathizerâ on Truth Social. Days later, he was gone.
Jeanette Vizguerra was taken from her Target shift in Colorado, chained at the waist.
Alfredo âLeloâ Juarez, a farmworker organizer, was dragged from his car at dawn in Washington. His window was smashed by federal agents. His voice silenced.
These arenât isolated incidents. These are deliberate acts of political intimidation.
They are testing the system â testing us â to see how many people they can disappear before we stop calling it democracy.
WHEN ICE IS A BADGE â AND A COSTUME
While the real ICE disappears scholars, organizers, and mothers, the fakes are circling like vultures.
In South Carolina, Sean-Michael Johnson posed as an ICE officer. He pulled over a van of Latino men, screamed slurs, jiggled their keys, and knocked a phone out of someoneâs hand. âYouâre going back to Mexico!â he shouted. He wasnât an agent â but he played one with conviction.
In North Carolina, Carl Thomas Bennett used a fake badge to sexually assault a woman at a motel. He told her if she didnât comply, heâd have her deported. He held up a counterfeit ID and pretended to be the state.
And in Philadelphia, a Temple University student in an âICEâ shirt tried to storm a dorm building with two accomplices. They were dressed for the part, intoxicated by the illusion of authority, emboldened by the climate.
This is what happens when the state makes cruelty a brand. When a badge becomes a fetish object. When the line between enforcement and cosplay disappears altogether.
THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS THE CRIME
Letâs stop pretending this is a coincidence.
This is a unified strategy. The Trump administration is using ICE like a personal strike force â targeting international students, protest leaders, organizers, and mothers with surgical precision.
They invoke secret designations. They bypass due process. They manufacture pretexts out of thin air and rely on the fog of bureaucracy to hide the blood on the floor.
The point isnât law enforcement. The point is deterrence. Spectacle. Control.
This is what political cleansing looks like when itâs dressed up in the language of national security.
Theyâre showing the world that resistance has a cost â and the cost is your freedom, your voice, your visibility, your future.
SILENCE IS CONSENT. AND WE ARE LOUD.
There is no middle ground here. No fence to sit on. No neutral position when people are being kidnapped in the name of the state.
ICE doesnât need your applause. It needs your silence. Every time a student vanishes and the media shrugs, every time a woman is cuffed and the public looks away, the machine gets stronger.
They are daring us to ignore it. They are counting on our numbness. They are betting that weâll keep scrolling.
We cannot let them win.
This is not border policy. This is not visa enforcement. This is not safety. This is authoritarianism with a PowerPoint presentation. This is fascism disguised as formality.
This is the state stripping people from the land and pretending itâs order.
Let the record show:
They took people.
And we did not look away.
We saw it.
We named it.
We raised hell.
And we did not stop.
(I didnât write this. Credit goes to Fear and Loathing: Closer to the Edge)

Has any of you experienced your little one asking for a loaf of bread and standing there sadly, staring at their empty hands? Or your infant crying with hunger and you can't bring a single drop of milk to calm them down? Has any of you tasted the bitterness of standing in long lines just for a meal that barely keeps them alive? Has any of you experienced the feeling of living on one meal a day, divided among family members as if it were a precious treasure? This is our reality and our situation today. It has become a familiar scene to us, but it is met with cold international and global silence. How long, how long will we be left to face hunger and death alone? Wake up, dignity is being slaughtered here every day, and our hearts bleed in silence. How long will we remain afraid, displaced, hungry, besieged, and killed every day? How long? If hearts were made of stone, stones would crumble from the intensity of the pain and abandonment we are suffering. We hope that those with humanity and mercy in their hearts will support me and my family until we find something to eat and get out of here alive
Well all I ask is that you donate if you can and I really need this donation I need it badly donât read and leave share also maybe someone will see it who can donate please sympathize with us and stand by us with your donation you are providing me with a lot and a lot of help please donate

As someone nonpartnering, I'm always dancing on the razor's edge of relating to and having no patience for "forever alone" sentiments from alloro single people.
Because on the one hand, to be perfectly honest, yes, I am lonely! And while there's numerous factors involved in that, my being single is one of them. It's hard not to feel isolated as a single adult and I'm very cognizant of my friends, coworkers, family members etc... who have this whole category of social life that I do not.
However. While if someone individually happens to want a partner, that's fine and well and good, but 'everyone must partner off' cannot continue to be the broader social model. If your mentality is 'I'll get a romantic partner and that'll be that', then you're contributing to the problem -- for both yourself and everyone else.
Community has to be the real focus. When I think about combatting loneliness, I think about universal basic income and affordable housing, walkable neighbourhoods and robust public transit, free community events (both in-person and online), access to high-quality affordable healthcare, access to public restrooms, etc...
Even if we woke up tomorrow to find sudden cultural acceptance of permanent singlehood as an option, I and many other people would still be lonely! We need to support social infrastructure outside of romantic relationships and nuclear families at the policy level. If you have to work multiple jobs to afford a place to live or if you have a 2 hour commute because the local bus service sucks or if the best spot in town to meet new people is an accessibility nightmare, all of these things are going to stifle community and we're still going to be lonely. I genuinely do sympathize with the plight of the single alloro, but there has to be an understanding that your individual loneliness is not the end of the line.
