bens.insta: hi, guys! a lot of stuff has been going around on the internet and i wanna set some things straight. first of all, yes, i have officially quit ballet. but it has nothing to do with y/n and all to do with the fact that i am just not as in love with the sport as i use to be.

secondly, please keep my girlfriends name out of your mouth if you are going to bad talk her. she’s done nothing wrong.

lastly, i really do wish y/n the best with ballet. she’s very talented and i know she’ll make it far. that being said, no, we don’t have any communication as of late. things have been said that we both regret. i hope you all understand.

y/n.albon: i suppose it’s my turn to speak about this. ben posted last night about him quitting ballet, which is obviously a fact. it sucks that i’m loosing a partner i’ve been doing ballet with for 8 years, but that’s life. friendships were made, but new ones can be made. friendships were also torn down. it’s unfortunate, but the ball was not in my court. i regret not a word that i said to ben. ending these types of professional relationships sucks, but that’s what it was. professional.

I think it's interesting that - in order to make his "free-thinking Jedi" characters hold any semblance of rationality in their arguments - Dave Filoni needs to resort to artificially dehumanizing the other Jedi and painting them all with the same "we dogmatically worship protocol" brush.

He does this with Huyang in the recent Ahsoka episode.

"Lolz he's so narrow-minded, preachy and by-the-book, unable to think outside the box, just like the Jedi in the Prequels."

My first reaction was being amused at the fact that Filoni had to resort to making the Jedi Order's ideals and rules be embodied by a literal machine for his anti-Jedi headcanon to start making sense.

But then I remembered: Huyang isn't just any droid.

In The Clone Wars, he had a sassy personality, he had a pep in his step, he had a sense of humor...

This character was human in his behavior, he was fun and whimsical.

But now he's been reduced to, I dunno, "Jedi C-3PO"? Basically?

"Ha! He's blunt and unsympathetic because he's a droid, but it's funny because the Jedi were the same, they were training themselves to be tactless, emotionless droids."

And Filoni does this with Mace Windu too, in Tales of the Jedi.

Mace, who brought a lightsaber to the throat of a planetary leader to defend the endangered Zillo Beast...

... and who went waaay past his mandate by mischievously sneaking around Bardottan authorities and breaking into the Queen's quarters because he felt something bad was afoot...

... was reduced to being an almost droid-like, rule-parotting, protocol purist who sticks to his instructions (and is implied to be willing to let a murder go unsolved so he can get a promotion).

I mentioned this at the end of my first post on Luke in The Last Jedi... while changes in personality do happen overtime and can be explained in-universe... if you don't show us that progression and evolution and just leave us without that context, that'll break the suspension of disbelief, for your audience.

Here, we have two characters with a different (almost caricatural) personality than the one they were originally shown to have.

Now... we could resort to headcanons, to make it all fit together.

We could justify Huyang's tone shift 'cause "Order 66 changed him". And we could make explanations about TotJ's Mace:

Being younger and thus more ambitious and a stickler for the rules, and only really becoming more flexible after getting his seat on the Council and gaining more maturity.

Being such a teacher's pet in the episode because we're seeing him through the eyes of a notorious unreliable narrator, Dooku.

There'd be nothing wrong with opting to go with either of those headcanons to cope with this. After all, Star Wars is meant to help you get creative.

But the problem I encounter is that:

Filoni has an anti-Jedi bias, so the above headcanons clearly wouldn't really track with his intended narrative.

We'd be jumping through hoops to extrapolate and fill in what is, essentially, inconsistent characterization, manufactured to make Ahsoka and Dooku shine under a better light.

And that sours whatever headcanon I come up with.

Edit: Also, yeah, as folks have been saying in the tags... wtf is "Jedi protocol"? The term isn't ever mentioned in the movies, I skimmed through dialog transcripts of TCW, never saw it there.

So it's almost as if - if Filoni wasn't draining characters like Mace and Huyang of all humanity and nuance - his point about "the Jedi were too detached and lost their way, but not free-thinkers like Qui-Gon, Dooku and Ahsoka" wouldn't really hold much water.

“You know, I don’t think you’re actually supposed to aim for my toes when we do this.”

Your head falls to his chest in resignation, a groan of equal sentiment dying out in the cotton of his shirt. Even though his subsequent laughter is genial and bright, your face still burns against him. You’re sure if you stayed there any longer that the searing heat of your cheek would leave a discolored patch on the garment.

“You are such a jerk, I’m trying my best!” You argue, pulling back with your eyes squeezed shut and nose facing the wall to avoid his gaze.

He watches with a wide grin as your expression twists in embarrassment. And though he can clearly see that your eyes are closed, he still ducks and tilts his head to make sure they’re level with his own. His stare is stuck on your eyelids, frantically darting between the two to see if you’ll give him the pleasure of opening them any time soon. He laughs again when he sees your timid smile before you pull your chin to your chest.

“How am I the jerk? I’m the one with a broken foot, here.”

As dramatic as he is, the words carry no real annoyance. He’s fine; his foot is intact and he’ll most certainly live. Still, your palm grows sweaty where it’s clasped with his.

It was a silly idea that he’d proposed. Well, enforced to be more accurate. An off-handed comment — a little muddled by a handful of popcorn in your mouth — about having two left feet made him spring up from the couch and offer his hand. He was absolutely determined to help you practice slow dancing, hyping up his adequate sense of rhythm and decent coordination.

And he’d looked so eager, with fluffy hair and old clothes for pajamas, smiling down at you with a fondness that made it impossible to refuse. You take up his offer with little hesitation, figuring it would be easy enough. Plus, it might be worth it to be this close to him for a while, and he’s thanking you for it in his head.

But a couple of scratchy, romantic records later, and all you have to show for it is an imprint of Steve’s big toe on the sole of your sock-clad foot.

While he’s red in the face from laughter and joy, frustration is pulling the corners of your lips into a frown. Because what should be a romantic scene is a little more difficult for you than you want it to be and you might be getting in your own head about it. Admittedly, you’re taking it a bit more seriously than he is.

“I promise I’m trying,” you mutter under your breath, barely audible as you stare down at your feet to make sure you don’t step on him again.

His brows crease in concern at the change in your demeanor. “I know,” he answers softly. When you don’t look up at him, his arm tightens around your waist to pull you against his frame. A reassuring squeeze is sent to your hand before he’s toying with the promise ring on your fourth finger, smiling as he recalls the matching one on his own. He finishes with a deeper cadence, still just as gently, “I know. I was just messing with you.”

There’s a beat of silence between you before he sighs and halts your swaying completely. He smooths his hand up your back, leaving a line of fire across your spine with his blunt nails until they end up at the nape of your neck. Meanwhile, the hand that’s wrapped in yours is guided to his torso, prompting you to hold onto him there instead. All for the greater purpose of cradling your face in his hands.

He knows you too well. A promise of love shines in his eyes as they catch the subtle annoyance hidden in the creases of your face. The softness of his smile, his touch, is a manifestation of that promise and it has you taking a particularly hefty breath to calm the chaos in your chest.

“Hey, you’re doing fine. Promise. Stop worrying that pretty little head of yours.” He looks you in the eye the entire time, rubbing his thumbs over your cheeks to emphasize his final point. And maybe being this close to him was a bad idea because you’re afraid your knees are going to buckle at his attentiveness.

And the fear becomes even more prominent when you spot his eyes dip down to your lips just for a split second before returning. You can feel your heart jump into your throat and the gooey smile being pushed onto your face before you can restrain it. He mimics the same expression, as if it’d be any help to your current state. You’re so out of it, you barely hear him ask, “Wanna keep trying?”

“You make me nervous.”

He blinks. “Me? Why do I make you nervous?”

“Dunno!…’Cause you’re, like…you’re looking at me like that,” you try to explain. It comes out in between nervous laughter, pushed out through teeth glued together in a smile only he can seem to cause. And he decides to take full advantage of it.

“Hmm. Like what?”

His brow raises suggestively before inching closer to you. His mouth just hovers over yours, tauntingly tickling your skin with a smug grin. You swallow down your nerves, nudging his nose with the tip of your own.

“Like…”

You push closer, puckering your lips against his in a kiss that’s barely there. Tenderness seeps through his fingers as they cup your jaw, and scratch the nape of your neck to elicit a sigh from you. His breath hitches at the sound and he’s pushing into the kiss out of poorly constrained excitement. His lips drag slowly, like he’s savoring the taste of you and committing it to memory. He all but whines when you’re finally pulling away for air, resting your forehead on his.

His lips are slick and kiss-bitten, face flushed and ears bright red. His chest is heaving and his eyes are closed in bliss. He looks wrecked and you’re not doubting that you look the same, but looking at him like this makes your stomach flutter.

You giggle, this time a more deliberate sound. “You’re distracting me.”

He huffs in disbelief and pulls back to look at you. You can feel his hands grow warmer in your skin with each passing second, the blush on his face deepening. “You’re distracting me! I’m supposed to be teaching you.”

“Well, you’re not doing a very good job,” you wince playfully, nudging his wounded foot.

As if it were possible, his smile widens and an airy laugh reverberates in his chest. “Yeah, cuz you’re looking at me like that.”

He dives in to capture your lips once more and hums at the contact. It’s notably more difficult this time around, your smiles getting in the way as your teeth clumsily scratch against each other. But it doesn’t stop either of you from pressing on, lips locking and clicking with every ebb and it makes your fingers twist into his tee. He pulls back with his lips comically puckered and placing them on your forehead for one final kiss.

“You're fine. You’re gonna get it, hmm?” He looks at you expectantly and you just about melt in his arms. It’s a silly thing, sure, but he sounds so sure, so confident in you. And his brown eyes are wide and teeming with ardor. You nod, a huge grin on your face.

“Let’s just hope you’re not in a cast by then.”

Legit Bad-take/Bad-Faith Helluvaverse critics you should not trust if you see them

Interpersonal squabbles within the critical tag are irrelevant, sorry. This here is a genuine warning against users you should keep your distance from in regards to any VivziePop drama-discourse because their names may come up and you should know what it is that crossed the line.

Starlatte/Starvader/HonestHazbinCritiques/OhGodDude and Woomycritiques/RaySquid - Serial harasser(s). Long story incoming. Starlatte was/is a Vivcritical who got involved in the fandom back in 2019/2020 when she was a minor and didn't tell anyone. Her blog on tumblr was HonestHazbinCritiques where she made some good points but also managed to find/be a part of everyone else's takes in the critical community. Her relationship with several criticalblogs turned sour when she started lashing out, talking over people, being accused of faking her age, and doing stuff like arguing with irl sexworkers abt how they should feel about Angel Dust. Whatever her age actually was at the time, she was also sending her own rewrite scripts and fanwritten episodes to Spindlehorse in order to 'fix' Hazbin. In 2021 Star returned to Tumblr under the name "Oh-God-Dude" w/o disclosing to new people who she was while also starting shit. When said new ppl found out her past and got mad at her, she proceeded to block-backtalk every one of them.

Woomycritiques (twitter handle: Raysquid) is a critical blogger who stans Star and calls everyone else in the critical community an obsessed stalker while lashing out herself. She accused others of racism (unfounded), her friends of predation just for being proship (not the 'cest and underage is good'-kind, the "I like some problematic stuff in fic-context"-kind), and heckled Dirgentlemen over how much they should hate Helluva, and more.

Regardless of if you believe Woomy and Star are the same person, which ppl do, they are both -by now- adult persons who have been asked to stop and DIDN'T, which is why people don't trust them. Star and Woom were asked to tone it down, stop making accusations and even asked by many criticals to leave and stop talking about Helluvaverse as she/they seem to have nothing good to say about it. To put that into perspective, cuz I know some HH/HB fans are gonna be reading this: the people who've self-styled themselves antis and criticals begged this person to leave cuz she had nothing nice to say and was being a nuisance. I know the stans think that's all of us anyway, so let that sink in.

LincarRox aka ToyTaker - Creep. Nasty jealous stalker freak who got kicked out of Helluvaverse servers and Aminos for saying nasty shit like how he "wants to put a baby" in Viv. No really. He took his shit and grievances to BadWebComics wiki under the name TheToyTaker while also seemingly trying to get work at Spindlehorse in order to have access to Viv directly and to 'fix' her show. He did so by faking his animation portfolio. BWW did eventually catch on and kick him out but yeah....bad. May or may not still be going under his old pseudonyms, but regardless if you see someone talking weirdly sexually abt Viv while saying they were "let go" both by SH and BWW, get out now. That's probably him.

Animation Call-Out - Bigoted shitlord. Twitter user who rags on Vivz' controversies w other people but also hates gays and BIPOCs. Admitted to submitting one of the anonymous reviews against Spindlehorse "for fun" amidst legitimate ex-employees. All of the reviews, even the ones that seem the most validating/believable should be taken with a grain of salt I believe especially since they are coming to us anonymously, but when a racist person admits to def being one of those fake reviews for "Lolz" sake, that's def when shit's hit the fan.

DoodleToons - Also bigoted creeperlooser. Altright white kid who hates BIPOC existing in anything and admits to hating Viv's stuff for their LGBTisms and 'demons'. both of them are evil. Basically but callie isn't that much evil but marie is. unsaid thing about marie is that she's an assassin and most of her victims are her fans actually. callie has a lot of scars on her tentacles from marie lolz

callie is somewhat physically strong (which is kind of canon) PLUS her tentacles are like. Super long. she probably has to keep them tied up 24/7

during splat2n marie is much more sad due to callie's disappearance and it's like talking to a brick wall during the campaign (but she feels better a few months after)

It’s your birthday party, finally. It took you so long to find a date where all of your friends could come… just for you to stay the whole night with Jimin.

It just felt so nice being around him. He was so sweet. He was one in a world, no one could ever be like him. The way he smiled… talked and looked at you… you just felt so safe around him. It’s not just this, but when you were with him, he also made you feel like you two were all alone in a silent world. Like nothing else mattered.

When with him, nothing else went through your mind, you just lived the moment, and enjoyed it.

What made it even better, is that you associated all of the most beautiful and calmest songs to him. It’s due to a playlist you two participated in, and used to listen to almost every day.

You had a huge crush on him for years now, but you were so scared of screwing up your friendship! What if he didn’t like you back…

He was so excited about all of your birthdays, asking you 10 months in advance what you want as a gift. And you always told him you didn’t need anything, but he always brought a lot of big gifts. The thing is, he wrote down everything you liked and mentioned in his notes, then bought them for your birthday.

When everyone arrived at your house, you stayed with all of them, put some random playlist on, and had fun. But then, Jimin caught your attention… he was acting a bit weird. He was distant, and somehow, looked sad? Lost?

You can’t handle seeing the love of your life like this. So you go up to him and he acts like he doesn’t see you until you really stood in front of him.

‘Jimin… what’s wrong?

You gently ask, trying to not rush him.

‘I’m alright, what do you mean?’

He answers, but his eyes say otherwise. Is he hiding something from you? You could assume but you don’t want to, you’d rather let him express himself. But this isn’t possible in front of everyone, you know he needs peace and to be alone to open himself. So you grab his hand and bring him to behind your house, on the balcony.

Once you arrived, instead of letting your hands go like it usually happens, he keeps your hand in his warm one, and doesn’t let you go. Blood rush to your cheeks but since it’s night he won’t see it.

You lean on the balcony with him, and before any of you speak, you just stare at the stars. Fortunately, the sky is clear today, so you can see all of the stars shine.

‘When I look at the stars, I feel so good. Like I’m weightless. One of the few times where I actually feel like I’m part of the universe. Isn’t that crazy?’

You say, expecting him to feel more relaxed.

‘What’s your favorite star?’

He asks.

‘I don’t have one. I watch all of them at the same time.’

‘I’m sure there’s a star named ‘y/n’ out here. It must be the prettiest out of all… And if there isn’t, I’ll make one myself.’

He giggles and looks at you to analyze your reaction. Your eyes widen in surprise and you start giggling with him. Your laughs and slight awkwardness being the only thing in the air along with the music in the background. You notice it’s a sweet song playing too, did someone put your playlist in?

After laughing a bit, you go back to normal but instead of carrying on with the conversation, you just look at each other, in silence.

But maybe silence spoke better than words. You find yourself getting your face closer to his, his hand behind your head, messing up your pretty hair for your birthday. Then your mind goes numb and empty as you feel for the first time, outside your dreams, his soft, plump and pink lips on yours. This moment stays like a picture in your memory.

And before you realize it, your lips are moving along, slowly, and carefully. It’s a romantic and filled with love kiss, and you’ll do anything to make it last forever.

The warm wind brushing your hair and guiding them towards him, as he pushes them away from your innocent face. Sucking on your top lip, keeping the lead as you keep his bottom ones in between yours. You don’t have a lot of experience, and neither did he.

Well… to be honest, the last time you kissed someone, was more than a few years ago, and with Jimin. Since you were childhood best friends, you grew up together. And curiosity pushed you two to kiss at a young age. You can’t lie though, you did already have a crush on him at that time.

Your love for him didn’t stop, or just stayed. It got bigger, stronger.

Everything was so perfect about him… his eyes, nose, lips, voice, thoughts, laugh… his everything. You hoped he thinks like this of you too. And after feeling his lips move against yours, eyes closed shut and eyebrows frowned, you couldn’t believe anything else but him being in love with you too.

His tongue finally brushes your lip, wetting them but you couldn’t care less. He tilts his head to the side, and gets even deeper in the kiss. You never thought your real first kiss and make out were going to happen in one night…and with Jimin…

Suddenly, stepping noises are getting louder and louder, disturbing you two. But you kept going until you realized they were approaching you.

When one of your friends gets to the balcony, you step back and look at your friend in surprise.

‘Hey y/n!! When’s the cake?’

Your friend asks before realizing he interrupted something and going back to the party immediately.

You look back at Jimin, just to find him staring at you, a smile drawn in his lips. It isn’t awkward, on the contrary, it’s comfortable. He brings back your hair behind your ear and takes your hand before bringing you back to the party.

Later, since he stayed to sleep, you talked together and he asked you:

‘Y/n… would you be my girlfriend?’

He said with a cute, shy smile.

‘Of course.’

And this is how you made it official… and don’t worry about the rest, everything went well :)

The pattern is that 18 of these stories are all LNDS written in the last few months with like half of them being Sylus/Reader written within a span of a month (me @ me: excuse me????) 💀 I did skip one Sess/Kag story that was updated before the Painter of the Night one, because I didn't like the opening line standing on its own.

My favorite would probably be "yours & mine" for the imagery but I also like "Crow in the Bedroom" for the lolz. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Please tag your works correctly

I know there're a lot of debates going on here and on IWTV Twitter about the prevalent feminization of Louis and the popularity mpreg within the fandom and I do not wish to add anything to that, but I think something that would help tremendously would be for authors to TAG THEIR WORKS CORRECTLY!?!?!

It would ensure that only the people who are interested in that type of content will see it and I also think it would reduce negative comments and author harassment from disgruntled and frustrated readers (Please don't harass authors though. Obviously. Duh!)

I realize that maybe some people are new to the AO3 platform and don't yet understand how the tagging system works but I've seen some things that kind of boggled my mind and oftentimes I've seen even something as simple as the rating used incorrectly.

This is the rough guideline to the AO3 rating system:

General Audiences - The content is unlikely to be disturbing to anyone, and is suitable for all ages.

Teen And Up Audiences - The content may be inappropriate for audiences under 13.

Mature - The content contains adult themes (sex, violence, etc.) that aren’t as graphic as explicit-rated content

Explicit - The content contains explicit adult themes, such as porn, graphic violence, etc.

I know the line between E and M is not very clear and it's usually up to the author's discretion but when it comes to what qualifies as G or T, it's pretty straightforward.

So if for example, your fic has Claudia, a minor!!! having sex or engaging in sexual behaviour with adults, you should not have that tagged as teens and up!!! That qualifies as mature content at the very least.

If you have descriptions of violence, murder, suicidal ideation or any of the other themes present in IWTV, that qualifies as mature content too. And a vague "canon typical stuff" warning is not enough because readers who want to can't easily filter that out.

If one or many of the party are coerced, tricked or are otherwise unwilling or unable to give consent to sexual activity of any kind, please tag that as dubcon or non-con! — and yes, that applies to the cutesy drunk fics too. That's what those tags are there for, and they carry no implied moral judgement nor are they a dark mark on your fic. They simply let the reader know what to expect and allow those who don't want that kind of content to filter it out.

If your fic features feminization, tag it as such! If your fic references or features mpreg, tag it as such!!! And not just a vague sentence like I might have some mpreg at some point, we'll see lolz because the system will not filter out the tag that way.

And last but not least—if the ship you tagged only appears in your fic in the background or is only briefly mentioned, tag it as such! ex:Armand/Louis (past) or Louis/Lestat (mentioned) etc. And same goes for characters too. This is especially important for smaller or more niche pairings because it sucks to filter for Loumand fics only to get DM or Loustat with Loumand only mentioned briefly in passing.

I know this has all probably been said before, but I think it bears repeating: TAG YOUR WORKS CORRECTLY!!! and then it will be up to the readers to filter and curate their reading experience. I think we would all be better for it as a fandom.
