Some Ahsoka Headcanons
The inquisitor Ahsoka beheaded in TOTJ was one of her crechemates, which is why he got so wide eyed and said "Could it be? after she revealed herself.
Five years after Ahsoka was taken by the Jedi Order, her parents would have a second child, another girl. Unlike her older sister, this child would be born at day break and was given the name Ahana (Dawn).
During Ahsoka's first couple years in the Order, she was shy and had trouble trusting elders due to her experience with the Zygerrian slaver pretending to be a Jedi. She even bit Plo Koon at one point after he accidentally crossed a boundary and spooked her.
While Ahsoka liked to dance, she rarely did so outside of her room and with her fellow Togruta during cultural events because of the fetishization regarding her species. It was only after she established a relationship with Barriss Offee that she started to dance with non-Togruta, first in the privacy of either padawan commander's room on the venators or the temple and then with the clones after a campaign. There is a video of Barriss and Ahsoka combining their cultural dances circulating amongst the GAR and another of them attempting to teach some ARC Troopers the moves.
Commander Wolffe has a special nickname for Ahsoka that he only uses when he's by himself. It's Allana- it means "Precious".

I think it's interesting that - in order to make his "free-thinking Jedi" characters hold any semblance of rationality in their arguments - Dave Filoni needs to resort to artificially dehumanizing the other Jedi and painting them all with the same "we dogmatically worship protocol" brush.
He does this with Huyang in the recent Ahsoka episode.
"Lolz he's so narrow-minded, preachy and by-the-book, unable to think outside the box, just like the Jedi in the Prequels."
My first reaction was being amused at the fact that Filoni had to resort to making the Jedi Order's ideals and rules be embodied by a literal machine for his anti-Jedi headcanon to start making sense.
But then I remembered: Huyang isn't just any droid.
In The Clone Wars, he had a sassy personality, he had a pep in his step, he had a sense of humor...
This character was human in his behavior, he was fun and whimsical.
But now he's been reduced to, I dunno, "Jedi C-3PO"? Basically?
"Ha! He's blunt and unsympathetic because he's a droid, but it's funny because the Jedi were the same, they were training themselves to be tactless, emotionless droids."
And Filoni does this with Mace Windu too, in Tales of the Jedi.
Mace, who brought a lightsaber to the throat of a planetary leader to defend the endangered Zillo Beast...
... and who went waaay past his mandate by mischievously sneaking around Bardottan authorities and breaking into the Queen's quarters because he felt something bad was afoot...
... was reduced to being an almost droid-like, rule-parotting, protocol purist who sticks to his instructions (and is implied to be willing to let a murder go unsolved so he can get a promotion).
I mentioned this at the end of my first post on Luke in The Last Jedi... while changes in personality do happen overtime and can be explained in-universe... if you don't show us that progression and evolution and just leave us without that context, that'll break the suspension of disbelief, for your audience.
Here, we have two characters with a different (almost caricatural) personality than the one they were originally shown to have.
Now... we could resort to headcanons, to make it all fit together.
We could justify Huyang's tone shift 'cause "Order 66 changed him". And we could make explanations about TotJ's Mace:
Being younger and thus more ambitious and a stickler for the rules, and only really becoming more flexible after getting his seat on the Council and gaining more maturity.
Being such a teacher's pet in the episode because we're seeing him through the eyes of a notorious unreliable narrator, Dooku.
There'd be nothing wrong with opting to go with either of those headcanons to cope with this. After all, Star Wars is meant to help you get creative.
But the problem I encounter is that:
Filoni has an anti-Jedi bias, so the above headcanons clearly wouldn't really track with his intended narrative.
We'd be jumping through hoops to extrapolate and fill in what is, essentially, inconsistent characterization, manufactured to make Ahsoka and Dooku shine under a better light.
And that sours whatever headcanon I come up with.
Edit: Also, yeah, as folks have been saying in the tags... wtf is "Jedi protocol"? The term isn't ever mentioned in the movies, I skimmed through dialog transcripts of TCW, never saw it there.
So it's almost as if - if Filoni wasn't draining characters like Mace and Huyang of all humanity and nuance - his point about "the Jedi were too detached and lost their way, but not free-thinkers like Qui-Gon, Dooku and Ahsoka" wouldn't really hold much water.
#I *will* acknowledge that part of this may also be that in a cartoon like TCW - characters with no moving facial features like Huyang...#... had to be more expressive in other ways; hence why he's so active in the cartoon; which may not translate well to live action.#Then again- look at how expressive and emotive that Hondo Ohnaka animatronic is at Galaxy's Edge.#And the fact remains that he went from a whimsical Mr. Ollivander type figure to... a droid with data on the Jedi...#... all so Ahsoka would seem more human and grounded by contrast#ahsoka series#ahsoka spoilers#ahsoka show#star wars ahsoka#huyang#tales of the jedi#totj#dooku#mace windu#ahsoka tano#star wars#dave filoni#disney plus

evolution of ahsoka's lightsabers according to me, some girl on the Internet
💚at 14, ahsoka was introduced with one, green main lightsaber that she regularly used in reverse grip, the main part of the saber is Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber reflected, which is how it gets it's slit down the middle, and the pommel is the same the one that obi wan has on his lightsaber in the phantom menace and attack of the clones
💚💚💛at 15, she had gotten a shoto lightsaber to complement her main lightsaber, not for big slashes but more for defensive tactics. in the clone wars, the shoto is more of a yellow-green color because George wanted green and Dave wanted yellow to reflect her growth as a Jedi so they ended up deciding to use a lime green color as a compromise. However, whenever you see ahsoka with her shoto in any Disney made show, her shoto will be just as green as her main, which is also the case with her galaxy's edge, legacy lightsaber replicas
💙💙at 17, she was regifted both her lightsabers by Anakin which he revealed to have changed the blades into blue. now, this complicates what we know about lightsabers a bit, and everyone has a different theory about how this works. (there are more but I'm gonna talk about which ones I prefer)
theory 1 (my favorite): I believe that when a Jedi meditates with their crystal, the crystal will reflect the color that accompanies their perception/relationship with the force. so Anakin, who always has blue lightsabers, meditated with ahsoka's crystals and made them blue.
theory 2 : there's another theory that lightsaber colours are controlled by certain ways that a cyber crystal is angled into the owners hilt, similar to how a prysum reflects light, maybe Anakin tinkered around with the insides of the hilts and changed the colors that way
🤍🤍 at 18 ahsoka defeated an Inquisitor and took the two crystals in his lightsaber, healed them and made her own lightsabers with them
in the book (which I realize isn't canon anymore, but it used to be so I prefer to keep it as a legitimate source), she had felt the crystals calling out to her, some people say that those could be her old blue/green crystals that were bleed which makes sense and is fun to think about
in the book, Ashoka says that the hilts are not finished at all, she had used random junk and ship parts to make them so I imagine they looked kinda messy and plain. and something interesting too is on the cover of the book, her lightsabers are very straight so the curved ones we know came later
🤍🤍 32 is the earliest we know of ahsoka having her finished curved, and flat lightsaber hilts, these lightsabers are modeled after a katana, bent at the hilt so you would use it in a similar way. something else that's fun to note is that on her main there's a dark plate with two silver diamonds and on her shoto there's a silver plate with two dark diamonds, showing how she's achieved a passive balance
welp, thanks for reading! it's fun to yap lol

I made a playlist for the training session you, and Ahsoka Tano are going to have at the Jedi temple!
With Master Skywalker observing you know this is going to be fun. Please check it out!!

In my life, when you find people who need your help, you help them, no matter what
In my experience, just when you think you understand the Force, you find out how little you actually know.

by the way, having dooku's tipping point be killing yaddle in TOTJ is kind of dishonest. since he killed sifo-dyas when valorum was still chancellor, yaddle is confronting a fully fledged sith lord (because he's already received his 'darth' title) who has already killed his best friend in service of the dark side. not much tipping over left to do. i'd much rather have seen that part of dooku's story animated rather than pastalony bringing in a council member just so he could make her an ex council member out of nowhere.

sorry if you've already been asked this, but what were/are your thoughts on the tales of the jedi dooku eps? i havent seen many people talking about them, even when they came out
-old man enjoyer
Hello old man enjoyer! Just had to check my archive for October 2022 and it turns out I really didn't talk much about TotJ, though I certainly did blog a little about it

So to catch up on that: yeah! I enjoyed the Dooku episodes! His new character model was at times more off-putting than the one from TCW, but the content itself was good. I like that they confirmed he was a principled and just person who got carried away with bad methods. How it started on a small scale and how it snowballed. Especially the pattern of him setting out to confront some injustice or another and causing harm in the end is neat, I think. It's a microcosm of Dooku's whole existence, really, because this whole process repeats and the stakes get higher until he's hurting the entire fucking galaxy in his pursuit of "justice". It's amazing. From a conflict in a small town to a war spanning all of civilization... nice hustle, sir. What a unique talent you have for making people shoot each other.
There are some bones I have to pick with his TotJ episodes and I think he should've been given more time, but I'm happy with what we got. It feels respectful and true to the character painted across the Prequels/TCW. Too bad they can't retcon him to have more of a presence in TPM, he would've been a great addition 😔
#totj is surprisingly good#like there's nothing that triggers my gag reflex in there. i can kinda just accept it which is CRAZY#ty for the dooku convo material‚ anon!#count dooku#totj#ask#*nothing in the DOOKU EPISODES of totj triggers my gag reflex i mean#the 'soka ones had more problems
