As always, when making possibly controversial statements on tumblr, I have no idea how to phrase this, but I'll give it a go.
"Jeff Bezos is evil because he profits off the exploitation of workers" is a very different criticism to "Jeff Bezos is evil because he's INHUMAN and UGLY and BALD".
I'm not just talking about Bezos here, or even about just billionaires in general. To use an example I talk about on my blog a lot- "Christianity has had damaging impacts on a lot of queer people, and people of colour" is very different to "All christians are evil because they're all homophobic and racist".
And yet, in both cases, the latter statements are widely accepted in liberal communities, even though if they were said about any random person or a minority group, it would be bullying and discrimination.
I guess I'm trying to say people have found "acceptable" groups of people to bully- a lot of the time without realising what they're doing- and it sickens me.
This post is not just about the two examples given.
