MEME FULFILLED PROPHECY
Despite being a mass of potholes and quite repetitive, PIDW is very popular, popular enough to have a community of fans. This means not only having fanart, fics and even merchandise, but also an entire culture, with fandom lore and yes, even memes.
One of those was “When Mobei-Jun gets married” it was used to indicate something that would never happen, like “when hell will freeze over” or “when pigs will fly”. It was so popular that there were even some variants, like “it happen at Mobei-Jun’s wedding” or “when Airplane marries Mobei-Jun off”
Shen Yuan really liked this meme because it was supported by canon: there had been several scenes where after a fight, Luo Binghe would look over the spoils and let his right hand man pick a boon. Despite the ever-present trembling maidens, Mobei-Jun would always pick a weapon, or in an instance an ancient relic that had once belonged to his clan. So yeah, Shen Yuan used it pretty often, once he even let it slip out IRL, but luckily no one got the reference.
He even used it once in a thread that went viral: it was a pointless debate over OP’s incorrect interpretation of an arc. Shen Yuan was clearly right, he even had quoted several chapters to prove his point and so the other user had resorted to personal insults. OP had typed something like “You are ridiculous! When will you admit that you are actually a fan of the novel and not an hater?!” To which Shen Yuan had responded with “When Mobei-Jun gets married”
Now, this should have ended the discussion in Shen Yuan’s favor: the meme usually got lots of likes regardlessly of the context, and so he would have won the debate.
But OP for reason had decided to tag Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky himself. “Great Master Airplane, would you marry Mobei-Jun if it means getting Peerless Cucumber admitting that he likes your story?”
To everyone’s surprise the author (sleep deprived an high on caffeine and energy drinks) actually did answer “Damn, I would marry Mobei-Jun for free”.
True to his writing style Airplane dropped the bomb to never addressed it again. That comment had started another meme, although less popular than the other about Mobei-Jun having been married the whole time to the author himself and the ship AirplaneXMobei became the most popular for the character. There few fans that had written crackfics had been insufferable about it, even resurrecting the ‘I shipped X before it was cool’ format just to flex.
After transmigrating into the scum villain and masterfully avoiding the original good’s fate, Shen Yuan one day receives an invitation to a wedding, accompanied by a mission by the System that just says ‘True to your word: User must respect the vow he once made’. Shen Yuan immediately understands what this is about: he would rather jump into the Endless Abyss than do that.
#I am obsessed by#the lost memes of PIDW#that book must have been a mine of memes#and its community pretty toxic#imagine the DRAMA#not sure if we were robbed or spared#but I still would like to know more#svsss#headcanon time#pidw#Shen Yuan#peerless cucumber#shen quingqiu#airplane shooting towards the sky#Shang Qinghua#Mobei Jun#moshang#somehow?

The Greatest Heist of All. . .
(How they react to your pet - Slytherin Boys x Reader)
Plot; Niffler inspired crackfics
Pairings; Sebastian Sallow x Reader (Romantic), Ominis Gaunt x Reader (Romantic)
Warnings; jealousy, coarse language, floofity fluff
________________________________________
Sebastian Sallow
When Sebastian first laid eyes on that Niffler, he knew trouble would start. In rescuing creatures, you had come to love many of them, but none more than those greedy little—
The brunette fumed at the thought of them. Those cute little beady eyes had won you over that day you'd both gone walking in the woods for a picnic date. That's when you'd stumbled upon a den of Nifflers.
Of course, most ran away. But, one remained. One annoying little—
Unafraid and curious, the little creature had sniffled and shuffled closer to you both.
"Mind your pockets", Sebastian commented, your hand waving to dismiss his words without a care.
"Look at you!!", you'd cooed at the little one, your boyfriend hardly sharing your enthusiasm on the creature.
You admired the blue fur on his back, reaching keenly to pet the cheeky little thing before it practically clambered onto your lap and into your arms. Sebastian's eyes rolled as your arms engulfed the Niffler, stroking your hands along his smooth hairs.
Attention went from your date to your uninvited guest, and after some time, Sebastian grew impatient and perhaps, a bit jealous as well?
"Alright, great. You've pet it. Now, can we go?", he huffed, raising a brow.
You pouted up at your boyfriend, the Niffler eagerly accepting your affections, "I don't want to just leave him here".
"He's a wild animal", the brunette reasoned. "He has a family. He'll be fine". But, the Niffler also seemed to share your resolve, not wishing to leave your kind embrace.
"I think— I want to keep him".
Oh God. Oh no—
"Nifflers are little thieves!", Sebastian insisted. "Who wants a pet that could rob you blind??".
Kneeling by your side, your freckled partner laid a gentle hand on your back before sliding it down to hold your spare hand in his attempt to coax you away.
The Niffler saw Sebastian's possessive behaviour and recognised it as a similar behaviour to those of his own kind. Could it be that you were valuable? Not gold, but a treasure as yourself?? This would be his biggest win yet, if that were so.
Sebastian's brown hues drifted to the Niffler, whose attitude had become a bit more insistent. The creature's eyes met his own and without breaking contact, deliberately snuggled into your chest, even daring to lay a possessive paw by your shoulder as if to say, mine.
Oh, it was on.
In the weeks that followed, things grew worse.
Every time there was even a mention of Sebastian, your Niffler saw fit to jump into your lap or arms to draw your attention.
Sebastian was at breaking point. Each time he spoke with you, there was that miscreant stirring him up. He'd even taken to insisting that the thing was evil, to your amusement.
Once or twice, the brunette even went as far as to mouth, "I'm watching you!", from over your shoulder, making the signal with his hands when you weren't looking.
It was unbelievable. A Niffler participating in some form of torturous psychological warfare. And Sebastian wouldn't let him win. You were his.
Then, your owl came and the existential dread continued.
Sebastian,
Would you be so kind as to babysit my Niffler? You'd be doing me a HUGE favour, as I'm away for most of the day on Saturday and he'll be left with no supervision and company.
Love always,
(Y/n) ♡
Bloody thing can starve, was his first thought, finally inwardly relenting when he thought of the consequences. You'd hate him forever if he did that.
So, it was off to your home he'd have to go.
"You boys behave while I'm gone", you'd teasingly instructed with a pointed finger and Sebastian played it off with a forced smile.
"Don't rush", he shrugged, making sure to pull you into the most passionate kiss he could offer, hoping the Niffler would weep on the inside.
"Sebastian", you giggled against his lips, almost tempted to stay for a more intimate moment were it not for your plans. "I am coming back".
His forehead leant on your own, the Niffler forgotten whilst his hands drew imaginary patterns on your waist. "I'll be waiting with bated breath", the brunette whispered, pressing another kiss to the tip of your nose. "I love you".
"I love you too", you sighed, allowing only one more peck on the lips before your parting.
Until the Niffler scuttled to you, pulling on the fabric of your blouse from where he sat on a table. "Oh, Darling", you fawned, Sebastian resisting the urge to hurl. "I'd nearly forgotten you!!". Lifting the creature, you kissed the top of his head. "Mama will be back soon, okay? Behave for your Dad".
Oh, God. He really was going to be sick.
Giving a final wave of your hand, you were off and away, Sebastian's unimpressed glower falling onto the Niffler beside him. "I am not your Dad".
The Niffler seemed to chatter, something akin to mischievous laughter. And I'm not going to behave.
Some of the most horrible hours of Sebastian's life came to follow.
It was one incident after the other, resulting in a few smashed vases and a bruised ego for Sebastian.
"That's it!", he finally snapped, pointing an accusatory finger at the little creature. "I've had it!! Whatever, it is!!".
As if scolding a child, Sebastian continued, "(Y/n) may think you're adorable, but I know the truth, you conniving thief! You might have fooled her, but you don't fool me!! And if you think for one second that—".
"Sebastian?".
His face paled, hearing the voice of his love and the Niffler took his chance. The mischievous creature began to sniffle, as if it were crying, before faking a limp whilst walking to you.
"What happened??", you cried out, spying the shards of a broken vase by the bench, still not cleaned up because of one little Niffler. Your attention instantly diverted to your pet, seemingly in hurt. "What did you do, Sebastian?!".
"What did I do??", he repeated incredulously. "I didn't do anything to him! It was that damn creature running amok!!".
All the while, you were focused on the aforementioned miscreant, feeding into his lies and infuriating Sebastian further.
"He's evil, (Y/n)! That thing needs to go!!".
"That 'thing', is Jeffrey!", you shot back.
"Oh?? So, it has a name now??".
Your eyes bore into the brunette's, searching his darker hues in silent scrutiny for a moment before you spoke again.
"You're jealous".
Those words made him stiffen, silencing any comebacks he'd bottled inside.
"That's ridiculous", Sebastian offered, too weak to be an argument.
"You are!", your mouth fell open, drawing your boyfriend's brows together.
"I am not jealous!".
"By Merlin", you gasped, trying to restrain any laughter threatening to spill out. "You're jealous. Of a Niffler?? ".
"He gets in the way!", Sebastian yelled, harsher than intended. "You're always giving him your attention, I hardly get it anymore! He's also consciously trying to steal you from me, for whatever reason!".
"Steal me?", your brow rose, a few giggles slipping out before your expression softened. Your eyes shifted to Jeffrey, noting that he was uncharacteristically fine for a creature so 'hurt' and you stroked over his fur, placing him aside. "You'll be fine".
The Niffler watched as you approached Sebastian, bringing him into an embrace. Your fingers combed through the soft waves of his hair and down to the nape of his neck, allowing him to melt in your arms.
"Sebastian", you sighed, shaking your head only slightly. "You're right. My attention from you has been divided. And while Jeffrey's behaviour was far from innocent—". You pulled back, running your fingertips over his face, encouraging his eyes to meet yours. "— I will never be stolen away from you. No Human or Niffler can steal me from the one who matters most to me. There's only one Sebastian Sallow. And that's rarer than any treasure".
A smile finally returned to Sebastian's face, the gap closing between you both. Your lips met his, gentle and breezy, calming the fires of anger and jealousy that had once stoked within his heart.
"I'll make us a cup of tea", you whispered, tapping the brunette on his nose, leaving only the brightest of smiles in your wake as you brushed by.
Sebastian turned his attention to the little shit sitting on the nearby counter, his tongue darting out teasingly. "I win".
The Niffler's head seemed to dip, suddenly sad and deflated. A pang of guilt hit Sebastian in that moment and it made him relent to the small creature.
"Fine", he grumbled, unable to fight his growing smile. "I can't believe I'm doing this, but–". He offered his hand. "— friends?". Jeffrey sniffled, almost seeming to nod in agreement when he extended his paw. "Just don't push your luck".

Ominis Gaunt
The day Ominis met your pet Niffler was utterly magical.
You had lead him into your vivarium for the first time, introducing him to the array of magical creatures that were under your care.
Ominis got to feel the smooth and pristine feathers of a Joberknoll, the fluffy hairs of a Puffskein; and the beak of your Hippogriff, Highwing.
And then the cherry on top; your Niffler.
Nifflers were curious, but harmless creatures. They were notorious for stealing jewels, treasure, coins— anything that sparkled, really. With their affectionate nature and reputation for an adorable stature, it was not a mystery as to why you chose to keep the Niffler you rescued from poachers.
The blonde had always wanted to meet one of those cute little theives and in knowing this, you'd excitedly given him the opportunity.
"Where is he??", Ominis had asked, unable to mask the way his voice travelled an octave higher in his anticipation.
"This way!", he was able to hear the grin in your tone, widening his own as he eagerly allowed himself to be tugged along by the pale tips of his nimble fingers.
You'd gently helped the blonde to be seated on the soft grass, almost finding yourself mesmerised with how the sunlight struck his delicate features.
Whistling and clicking your fingers, there was a shuffling in the grass as something approached. It had startled Ominis only slightly, the new grip of your hand over his own settling him.
You guided his hand forward as you had done so before, his palm finally landing on something soft. A short gasp heaved from the blonde, his lashes fluttering at the new sensations beneath his skin.
There was the rapid rising and falling of the little creature's breaths as he sniffed over the new guest of the vivarium.
A smile carved its way onto Ominis' expression, hesitantly stroking over the little creature beneath his grasp. Your hand lead his over the Niffler's head and snuffling snout, a breathy laugh slipping from the blonde when the small breaths tickled his skin.
Long had he dreamed about this..
"Ominis, I'd like you to meet Sebastian", you laughed at the sudden quizzical look that dawned on your counterpart's expression.
"Sebastian?", Ominis echoed with a quirk of his brow. "You named your Niffler after our friend? ".
No, he wasn't jealous. Not at all.
"Only because he gets into so much trouble", you giggled. "He also has these adorable speckles on his fur around his face. Lilac fur with faded spots".
"Like freckles", he nodded in understanding, trying to fight the deflation dampening his initial excitement. "Does Sebastian know that you've named your 'child' after him?".
Ominis was sure that with the amount of time you'd spent with Sebastian on various escapades in the fifth year and the closeness you still shared now in your seventh, that the brunette had undoubtedly been the first to be shown the Room of Requirement and these lovely creatures.
Perhaps Sebastian was the better suitor for you??
"No, actually", your amused answer shocked Ominis. "I've never brought him here. He doesn't even know of this place".
"He doesn't?", the blonde's brows creased in a bout of confusion. "I thought he'd be the first to know of this place".
"What do you mean??".
Ominis' heart had begun to beat frantically within his chest whilst he'd attempted to play his jealousy and nerves off with a smile, as he often did when it came to your friendship with Sebastian.
"I— I just meant that you two are close", he replied with a tug of his shoulders. "I thought you might have been more inclined to show him over me, is all. I was only confused as to why it was the contrary".
In the few seconds of thoughtful silence that followed, you both had taken notice to the warmth of your hand that still lingered on his own, neither of you daring to separate them. Instead, your fingers slowly inched into the gaps between his own, hinting your intentions with your words,
"Do you not know?".
Ominis squeezed the digits threaded with his own like they were a life-raft, assuring you of his consent before your lips had taken his own in careful caresses.
Absolutely magical.
Or so he'd thought at the time, not realizing he'd just unknowingly declared war against a very protective Niffler.
Ominis dismissed it as paranoia at first, just shrugging off the seemingly possessive behaviour the little creature conveyed.
But, it had become apparent over the many weeks that it wasn't just his imagination playing tricks on him..
The Niffler was clearly jealous of your diverted attention. Ominis had figured that out rather quickly.
Just as the Niffler had figured out how to push his buttons. Like Sebastian.
Whenever you both had picnics in the vivarium or brought Ominis along to help in the care of your creatures, Sebastian lived up to his name.
The mischeievous miscreant always managed to get in the way, snatching Ominis' wand from his robes so that he wouldn't be able to find you or the other creatures before misplacing it to make it look as if it had dropped out by mistake.
You thought that's all it was, despite Ominis knowing and insisting otherwise.
Then, it was the Niffler napping on your lap whenever Ominis wanted to. And of course, you were a sucker for that adorable little shit. He could do no evil, apparently.
Holding hands? The Niffler went out of his way to pry the blonde's hand from yours, snuggling under yours to draw your attention; even going as far as to shove Ominis' hand away and preoccupy your palm with his paw.
Sitting together? Sebastian interfered with that too, worming his annoying little self between your bodies so that he could sit in the middle as a barrier to separate you both.
Whenever Ominis wanted time with you, Sebastian was always there. It was like the Niffler had been incarnated with a piece of his best friend's soul, always troublesome and always interfering.
Ominis finally hit breaking point when the little shit decided to make off not only with his wand, but with the handmade necklace he'd bought from Feldcroft in his most recent visit.
The blonde planned to give it to you as a gift, but even he should've known better than to have it in his pockets when visiting the vivarium to carry out a favour for you, his beloved.
Whilst you would be attending to family business today, he would care for your creatures. Something that was turning out to be a complete impossibility.
In Sebastian's mouth? Ominis' wand.
In his paws?? The necklace.
"Come back here, you little rat! Give those back, Sebastian!!", he cried out, only able to follow the scuttling in the grass and the jingling of the jewellery in the Niffler's greedy grasp.
Wheezing and panting, Ominis crawled and sprinted around, the Niffler releasing an occasional squeak whenever he got close. Until—
"Got you!", the blonde shouted, finding a grip on the Niffler that struggled desperately in his grasp.
It soon became clear that he was holding the little miscreant upside down, coins seeming to pour out of his marsupial-like pouch. His paws were still occupied with the necklace he'd stolen, whining in despair at the loss of his precious coins as they rained down to the floor.
"Serves you right!", Ominis seethed, breathless from his pursuit.
In a sense of victory, the blonde's lips curled into a grin, his fingertips running along the Niffler's belly. The creature chattered as if he were laughing, especially ticklish at the gentle prodding. More coins and jewels rained out as Ominis' fingers reached his sniffling snout.
Quickly snatching his wand back from the little creature's jaw, he boasted, "I win", before reaching for Sebastian's paws.
Ominis caught ahold of the necklace, but the Niffler's grip was like iron.
"Sebastian, give it to me", the blonde chided, tugging on the precious piece of jewellery. "Come on, Sebastian".
The Niffler struggled and resisted, never being more keen to possess anything in his life. Even the measly coins Ominis tried to trade couldn't compare to the necklace and he wasn't willing to break it.
"You stubborn mule! Fine!!", he snapped, huffing as he set Sebastian loose.
Dejected, the blonde sat himself down, soon recieving the company of your Puffskein as it nuzzled into his side. Despite his sadness, even he was unable to resist smiling at the affectionate creature.
Ominis reached over to pet the Puffskein, your mischievous Niffler watching from a distance. All of his lost coins were on the ground by the blonde's legs, but it wasn't them that drew Sebastian back.
It was the realisation that Ominis could love him just as much as you could. That his love was not a threat to the friendship you shared with your favourite pet.
Perhaps he'd tried stealing the wrong person??
Ominis seemed just as compassionate, if not moreso.
His attention soon became divided from the Puffskein when the cool and delicate metal of a necklace was dropped into his palm. The blonde almost couldn't believe it.
A Niffler?? Returning something shiny??
And then it clicked. It wasn't of value to him, but a ploy to sabotage your relationship with Ominis. Sebastian had felt threatened.
"Thank you", Ominis whispered, his lips curling out of amusement as the little creature began to shuffle around and pick up the coins that had dropped.
Perhaps Sebastian was more alike to his human counterpart than the blonde first realised? He has a heart of gold too, although it rarely shows.
And upon your return to the vivarium, you were delighted to find things resolved between your pet and boyfriend, knowing tensions and jealousy had been spiked between the two.
There, Ominis laid on the grass asleep, a freckled lilac Niffler upon his chest.
Your plan had worked..
The End. . .

PC (Personal Character / Yuu) is short.
PC: Crowley, where is my uniform?
Crowley: *opens wallet, empty* how about you ask your friends after you busted out my whole money for a phone?
PC: hmm…
—
PC: And which is why I need to take all the spare uniform you have Epel, don’t worry, I also plan on robbing Lilia’s pants and boots.
Epel: Fuck no, I barely have any spare!
PC: Shut it, we are literally the same size on everything! Stop being so stingy!
Epel: then you should totally go to either Rook or Vil for this kind of sponsor!!
Vil: Tailoring it takes time.
Rook: We just can’t give a random uniform now can we?
Epel: ARGHHHH!!! Why must we both share the same size in literally everythin'?!
—
Lilia: *hides closet* what is it little doll? I don’t have any spares to give you.
PC: then strip your pants and boots.
Sebek: *internal turmoils*
Malleus: Why not take mine instead? I have a few spares that I haven’t worn.
Silver: It’s going to drown them in size…
PC: Oh you stupid little general, I found your pants here!
Lilia: geh-! I forgot to put those into the laundry basket…
—
Riddle: You might run out of uniform if you only wear what Epel gave you, do you need mine?
PC: My only worry is that yours might not be tailored perfectly to fit me…
Riddle: Even if there were to be a difference in the size, I’m sure it’s only by a few centimeters off. Don’t worry, you can just wear it until Vil hands you your supposed uniform and let me sniff the remnants of you…
PC: what was what? I couldn’t hear you.
Trey: Now now, today's special is orange tart! *rushes in*

Summer in the 305 || LS2
Pairing: Logan Sergeant x fem!reader Summary: Logan comes home to Miami (305) for the summer break and you surprise him by meeting him at the airport. Warnings: fluff, doggo parents, hints of sexual tension. WC: 1.7k F1 Masterlist || One || Two || Three
No one noticed you as you sat half asleep in an oversized hoodie on a bench, assuming you were just another weary traveler in Miami International Airport. The arrival lounge had been busy when you arrived hours earlier but it had grown quieter and quieter as the night grew so late it could have been considered morning. Logan was meant to have landed at 11pm and he would have expected you to be at home fast asleep but you had wanted to surprise him.
The surprise came fittingly at 3:05 when the frosted glass doors opened with the next disembarkation of passengers, led by Logan as he desperately tried to get home to you sooner. Your eyes were burning from forcing them to remain open for the extra four hours that his flight was delayed and you rubbed them as you rose from the bench.
Caps and shirts were thrust in his path but he was too polite to decline a fan so he paused to sign his autograph and nearly jumped out of his skin when your fingers wrapped around the handle of his suitcase. The shout to call for security almost passed his lips, thinking he was being robbed, before his sleepy brain recognised you.
“Sweetheart, what are you doing here?” he asked as a grin chased away the exhaustion on his face and he bundled you into his arms.
You kept one hand on his luggage since there was a crowd starting to gather but the other curled around his back and your head tucked into the crook of his neck. “I wanted to surprise you. I missed you.”
Logan pressed his lips to your forehead until you tipped your head back and he captured your lips as cameras flashed. “I missed you too.”
Thankfully it wasn’t always like this and most of the time when he came home to Miami you were left in relative peace. It was a different story when you went with him to the races, those were full-on mobs of Williams fans that demanded almost all his attention. “Go on, babe, finish up signing those so we can go home.”
The pen flew across whatever passed in front of him before he caught you struggling to hide your yawn and made an apology as he handed a boarding pass back with his autograph before waving. “Thanks for the support everyone.”
There was a collective groan from those who had missed out but Logan was focusing on taking back his luggage with one hand and draping the other over your shoulders as you fell into step.
“Looks like the 305 missed you too,” you commented as his hand lifted every now and again to wave at the younger fans until you reached his Range Rover you borrowed for the night. “There’s a treat waiting for you at home.”
His hand found your thigh as he started the engine and sent you a smirk as it drifted higher. “Yeah, sweetheart?”
“Not that,” you giggled, turning down the music that had played loudly while you drove. Logan enjoyed a quieter atmosphere when he was at the wheel, one where he could hold a conversation. “I wasn’t sure if you had eaten so I picked up some Carbone’s. I will admit I had to name drop, but they wouldn’t make a takeaway order otherwise.”
His warm laugh filled the SUV. “Did they even know who I was?”
“Of course! Everyone knows the hometown hero.” You leaned across the console and kissed his cheek, feeling the short prickles of his blond beard on your lips. “Are you planning on giving me beard burn, Lo?”
“This is all the rage in Europe. You don’t like it?” he asked as he ran his fingers over the three day growth. You weren’t sure if he was playing with you or not before a grin split his face and you sighed with relief. “Don’t worry, honey, I just haven’t had a minute spare to shave it this week.”
By the time 4:00 am arrived you should have been dead on your feet, but having Logan home energised you almost as much as Sooty. The black labrador scarpered all over the polished wooden floor when he saw his daddy walk in the door, his paws struggling to find traction in his excitement.
“There’s my good boy, come to daddy,” Logan cooed as he dropped his suitcase and caught the bounding dog as he jumped up. “Have you been protecting, mommy? Yeah? Of course, you have, you’re such a good boy.”
“He never gives me that kind of welcome home,” you joked as you locked the door and wheeled the suitcase down the hall to the bedroom.
A pair of hands came to rest on your waist as you emptied the entire case into the laundry hamper, knowing he wouldn’t have had the time to do it himself. His lips brushed over your nape before finding their way to your jaw as he turned you in his arms. “But you don’t go missing for weeks at a time.”
Hooking your arms around his neck you nodded in agreement as Sooty padded into the room with his favourite toy, dropping it at Logan’s feet.
“Someone has to be the stay-at-home parent in this relationship,” you chuckled, releasing him so he could pick up the squeaky toy.
“Not tonight, Soot, we’ll play in the morning,” he said, giving you a quick kiss with the promise of more. “Let me put him to bed, leave everything else until morning, sweetheart.”
He disappeared down the hall to the living room where Sooty’s bed was set up, but whenever Logan was away you would let him sneak into bed with you. You always slept better when you could cuddle something warm, but you definitely preferred waking up to Logan’s morning kisses than Sooty’s slobbery ones when he wants to be fed.
“Lay down, buddy,” you heard Logan’s quiet words in the still of the night. “You can take a break from looking after mommy, you did such a good job for me, yes you did.” You heard a smooch followed by a soft whine as Logan turned off the lights, then the pitter patter of paws. “Back to bed, Soot. Good boy.”
You heard the bedroom door close before Logan stepped into the ensuite, leaning against the doorway while you filled the sink with warm water. You returned the smile you found in the mirror and patted the marble vanity top before searching the drawers for his cut throat razor.
“It doesn’t look that bad, does it?” he half joked as he jumped up onto the bench, parting his legs so you could step between them.
“You could have a 70’s porn ‘stache and I would still think you are handsome,” you promised, making him laugh.
He tipped his head back as you soaked a face cloth in the warm water and squeezed the excess out before placing it over his face. “This is my favourite part of coming home.”
“Out of everything we do when you’re home, this is your favourite?”
His laugh made the face cloth fall away but it had probably been there long enough to open his pores so you lathered up the shaving cream next and massaged it over his cheeks and down his neck, feeling the thick cords of muscles beneath your palms.
“Okay, third favourite,” he corrected as his hands shifted from where he leaned back down on them to curl around your waist and rest comfortably on the swell of your ass. “But it’s still up there.”
“You are a strange man, Lo. I don’t think most people enjoy having a blade to their throat,” you murmured as you opened the razor and tilted his head to the side.
“I trust you.”
“Thank you. Now no more talking.”
He didn’t dare make a sound or even swallow as you angled the blade against his cheekbone and started to glide it carefully down to his jaw before rinsing it off in the sink. He kept perfectly still for you but you were hyper aware of his eyes scanning your face for any little changes he might have missed while he was away, re-committing it all to his memory for the next time he left.
You closed the blade up after finishing his throat last and placed it on the side before grabbing the face cloth and wiping away the excess shaving cream. Running a palm over his jawline you nodded at the silky smooth skin and took a kiss as payment before handing him the bottle of aftershave. “All done, handsome.”
By the time you had turned down the bed, and changed into one of his shirts, the light leaking in around the edges of the curtains started to turn pink as dawn approached. Your eyelids were heavy but your heart was light as Logan climbed in his side and wrapped his body around your back, the weight of his arm reassuring on your waist and his leg wedged between yours.
“Come with me,” he murmured sleepily.
You could hardly coordinate a reply as your lips quivered with a suppressed yawn until it finally passed. “Where?”
“Everywhere: Zandvoort, Monza, Singapore, all of them.” You felt his small shrug before his arm tightened around you and he kissed your shoulder. “I hate being away from you.”
Your immediate reply was to admit how much you hated the distance too but that would only make him feel worse if you couldn’t join him. “What about Sooty?”
“Hamilton brings Roscoe to some races, or maybe Mom can look after him…you don’t have to give me an answer now, sweetheart. We have three weeks to think about it.”
“I want to,” you said as you laced your fingers with his and drew his hand up your body so it was tucked into the valley of your breasts where your heart beat steadily in your relaxed state, “but we can talk about more in the morning.”
He nodded and pressed another kiss to your skin, the touch smooth and soothing thanks to the close shave. “Sweet dreams, honey.”
“Hmm, you too,” you said as your muscles relaxed even further and your tongue barely moved. “Love you, Lo.”
His voice followed you into your dreams and you smiled as it took hold in a future you couldn’t wait to see come to life, “I love you too.”

MC: *strangling a customer with one hand*
The customer: Nh...
MC: ...
Jade, Floyd, and Azul: ...
The other customers: *watching*
Octavinelle student A: What happened?
Octavinelle student B: That customer tried to touch them.
Octavinelle student A: Oh shit—
Octavinelle student B: Yes. He's doomed.
The customer: I'm... a... paying customer... Nh...
MC: No, you're not.
MC: I know a disgusting hobo when I see one.
The customer: Please spare me... I will never do it again...
Floyd: MC~ Why not let go of that one~?
Jade: Floyd is right. We'll deal with him for you.
MC: Huh. You're right. I've lost my temper for something like this.
Azul: *mumbles* Except you were never the type to have temper.
MC: Azul, make sure I receive a huge compensation for this.
MC: Since I have touched dirt for a couple of minutes.
Azul: Yes, yes.
MC: *throws the customer hard to the ground*
The customer: *groans*
MC: *sprays their hand with disinfectant*
Jade: *walks up to the customer and proceeds to drag him by the hair*
Jade: Floyd, prepare the body bag.
Floyd: Okay~.
Azul: ...
Azul: Everyone, since your meal has been disturbed by this unexpected event, I would like to announce a 15% off to your total meal.
MC: But that doesn't include my tip.
Azul: Yes.
The other customers: Oh no, it's fine. We'll pay our actual total.
MC: ...
MC: *smiles* Aren't you all adorable?
The other customers: *blush*
Azul: ...
Azul: Should I remind the customers to be respectful to you?
MC: Hm? Remind?
MC: Do you think I'm an animal at the zoo that needs a warning label?
Azul: Of course not.
Azul: Anyway, I knew that customer earlier tried to touch you, but did something else happen?
Azul: You would normally break someone's hand or throw them off the wall if that was the case.
MC: Ah. He said something that completely repulsed me.
Azul: And that was?
MC: "I'll be a good father to your 20 children."
MC: Who does he think he is?
Azul: ...
Azul: Understandable.
MC: *sigh* I need to splurge to unwind.
Azul: You can do so after your shift.
MC: *stares at him*
Azul: ...
Azul: Fine. Just be back in three hours.
MC: You're really the best, Azul. *walks out of his office*
Azul: *sigh*
Kalim: That must've been awful!
MC: You're right. *fake tears* I felt sullied.
Jamil: That was indeed unfortunate. But I'm sure you didn't let it slide.
MC: Of course. What do you take me for?
Jamil: Okay then. Stop using Kalim's card left and right!
MC: I have the permission of the owner.
Kalim: Yeah! I gave them my permission, Jamil! *beams*
Jamil: *sigh*
MC: Hm. I still have an hour left. How about we go to something fancy?
Jamil: Go back to your work.
MC: No.
Kalim: Haha!
Jamil: ...
MC: *someone tried to rob them on the way* *is now stepping on his hand with their pointed high heels*
Kalim and Jamil: ...
Kalim: Um, MC? His hand is bleeding. 🥺
MC: He's fine. He's breathing. See? *nudges his head with their foot*
Jamil: ...
Jamil: MC, your actions are too much for Kalim. Let's just call the authorities.
MC: *rolls eyes* Fine.

Top Secret Fiction Ch. 4
Farmers Market
Katsuki Bakugou x Reader
Description: After meeting the one and only pro hero Dynamight on a dating app, you two begin to see each other. Because of the dangers that come with his hero work, you both promise to be completely honest with each other from the beginning; though you can't help but keep one big secret from him.
You write fan fiction, mostly about him.
Chapter Details: nothing crazy. another date, katsuki being sweet, reader uses their quirk
Word Count: 1.4k
previous chapter
It's been about two weeks since you went on your date with Bakugou and you haven't seen him since, unfortunately. But it was for good reason - his hero work.
Going into this, you knew he'd be extremely busy, but you didn't think he'd be this busy. But you could understand it. Though something you did appreciate was the fact that he did make time to talk to you on the phone and would let you know when he'd have to go hours without talking.
In these past two weeks you also thought about his serious talk with you, about honesty.
Guilt ate away at you every time you started writing or even thought about it, which made it harder to stay active on your writing account.
Your secret really wasn't that big of a deal, but it was still a secret. Fan fiction was also something that had a bad reputation among people who didn't read it, so who knows how Bakugou felt about it.
Your phone ringing broke you out of your thoughts.
Looking at the caller ID, you saw that it was Bakugou. Smiling, you answered it and said "Hi Bakugou!"
"Hey, you busy right now?" He asked.
You looked around your room, as if that'd give you an answer. "Uh no, why?"
"Good. Can you be ready in like - thirty minutes? I'm free for the rest of the day and I wanna hangout now that I actually have time."
How sweet.
"Yeah I'll be ready by then. Are we meeting somewhere?"
"No, I'm picking you up."
"'Kay, see you then. Bye!"
"Bye."
Hanging up, you squealed into your pillow and then looked at the time. It was only 3:00 pm, so you'd have to be ready by 3:30.
As you rushed to get ready you wondered where Bakugou was taking you. He didn't say you had to dress a certain way, so you went for a casual and comfortable outfit.
He didn't seem like the type to take you somewhere extravagant randomly, so you were sure it'd be somewhere that was pretty relaxed.
After getting ready you noticed you had a few minutes left to spare so you decided to go check on the plants you had around your home.
You had about three plants in your home, all of them ranging from different sizes and types. You didn't have many plants in your home because you already had many at your work place.
You attended to each of your plants needs after they had told you what it is they wanted. One wanted more sunlight, the other was thirsty, and one was just fine.
You looked at your phone to check if Bakugou had texted you, and luckily he did. He had sent a text saying he was outside waiting for you.
You smiled and slipped your shoes on, saying bye to Cheerios and your plants like you always did.
Sliding into the passenger seat you said, "Hey stranger. How've you been?"
He smiled lightly, "Sorry I haven't been able to see you. Work keeps me busy but I'm good, you?"
"I get it. I've been good too though. Has anything interesting happened at work?"
Bakugou brought a hand up to his jaw and stroked it while he thought. "Eh, nothing major. I did stop a bank robbery with Red Riot a few days ago though."
You gasped and turned to him, "A whole bank robbery? I feel like that's such a stereotypical situation... you know? Like, you just see it in movies all the time."
"I know, which is why people usually don't attempt to rob a whole bank" He laughed, "But clearly these guys were idiots."
You laughed at that. "I can't even imagine trying to rob a bank. I mean - where would you even start?
The two of you continued to talk on the way to your destination, which he actually told you about this time. He said that there was a farmers market happening nearby and he actually went there pretty often, so he thought he should invite you along with him which you thought was sweet.
When you arrived it was just as you expected and it seemed to be quite busy.
"Wow I can't believe I've never been here before! The decorations are so cute." You said in awe, once you both started walking around.
"You wanna go get food? There's this old dude that sells the best takoyaki at his stand." Bakugou said as you two walked through the crowd.
You nodded, "Yeah I'm down. Takoyaki sounds really good right now - oh and after can we stop at that stand?" You asked, pointing to a stand that was selling crocheted stuffed animals.
He nodded and then held out a hand, "So you don't get lost in the crowd."
Yeah right.
You smiled and grabbed his hand, letting him lead the way to the takoyaki stand. Once you got there you met the old man he mentioned and talked to him for a bit. You found out that he made the takoyaki himself and he'd been doing it for over thirty years!
When it came to paying, Bakugou kept insisting that he would pay for your food but you stood your ground and told him you were just fine paying for your own.
He grumbled about it for a while after but eventually got over it. You two then went over to the stand you mentioned earlier, and looked at the stuffed animals for sale.
"They're so cute! I think I'm gonna buy one." You said to Bakugou.
He hummed, "You should get that one." and pointed to a white jumbo bunny wearing pink overalls.
"You're so right." You said and placed your food down so you could grab the bunny and check for a price tag.
Your eyes widened at the price.
"This thing is sixty bucks!" You whispered to him.
"What? Lemme see." He said and grabbed the bunny from you to look at the tag. His eyebrows raised a bit at the price. "Tsk, I can make this shit myself."
"You crochet?" You asked.
"Sometimes..." He said and looked away.
You laughed and then grabbed the bunny back from him. "Well, I guess it's goodbye bunny. You're just too expensive." You said and sadly put the bunny back where it once was, making sure to grab your takoyaki.
"Wanna go sit under that tree?" You asked and pointed to a large tree with a bench underneath it.
Bakugou nodded and you began making your way over to the bench.
Once you got there you both continued to eat your food in a comfortable silence. Looking up at the tree, you used your quirk and listened.
"This tree has seen a lot of things." You smiled.
"Whaddya mean?" He asked around his food.
"My quirk. I just used it and listened to the tree. She said she's seen a lot of interesting things in this spot, good and bad." You said and listened some more, "Proposals are the most common."
Bakugou smiled, "The tree really said all that?"
"Yeah! Trees have such interesting stories because they've been around so long." You said excitedly.
He looked up at the tree, "I guess I never thought about it like that."
After some more talking and eating, Bakugou offered to throw away your trash for you, which you accepted. He told you to wait at the bench for him, so you did.
It was taking him a bit longer than you thought it would so you began to worry a bit. As you were biting your lip in thought, a touch on your shoulder made you jump.
"Didn't mean to scare ya."
You placed a hand on your chest, "Jeez! You walk so quietly I didn't hear anything."
Bakugou smirked, "Here, I got you something."
He handed you a large, brown paper bag and watched as you looked inside.
"The bunny!" You gasped and pulled it out of the bag. "But it was so expensive, why did you buy this?!"
He shrugged, "You wanted it, and I guess it's okay to look at."
You looked at the bunny intensely and rubbed its head.
"It's so cute... Thank you so much." You said.
"It's not problem, just make sure to name it after me." He joked.
You clicked your tongue and smacked him with the bunny.
...
You guys had ended up spending the rest of the day together, finally leaving the farmers market around 8:30 pm.
When Bakugou pulled up to your house, you hesitated before getting out.
"You good?" He asked.
"Yeah, um. Do you wanna come inside?" You asked quietly.
He smiled the widest you've ever seen him smile and said, "Yeah. Will your plants be okay with it?"
"Har har." You said while rolling your eyes and got out the car, leading him into your house.

i just like having sex with you sometimes. that's all.
let's set some ground rules.
so… how do we do this?
Pronouns: He/Him/His, M!Reader
and so the sequel becomes a holy trinity
Sarah Cameron was a pretty girl. Everyone knew it, whether they acknowledged it with awe, envy, or lust, everyone knew the Cameron genes worked like magic. The button nose, the full lips, the sun-kissed skin, the luscious hair that was a mix of blonde and brown strands, the dark brown eyes. The talk of the town, the pretty princess of Figure Eight, the beloved darling of the Cameron family. Sarah Cameron had no business being in the Cut. Hell, she had no business hanging out with JJ's troublemaking friends. She had no business seeking him out, and no business lying in the bed of a Maybank. Funny how the world worked, (Y/N) thought.
Maybanks and Camerons weren't supposed to mix. They were from two different worlds. And yet...
Between the altercation between JJ and their father and Barry's rage over being jumped and robbed, (Y/N) had an ever-growing headache. He found himself glad JJ had beaten their father into near silence and fucked off before (Y/N) could get home, although he'd left him to patch their father up and deal with quiet, angered mutterings. His father luckily seemed either too exhausted or too drunk to bother him much, leaving him to spend his free day in his room listening to music while he gathered the will to get a Tylenol and step out into the world. He could use a drink or two or three. Maybe he'd stop by a bar and listen to Barracuda Mike's tales about his international dealings until the alcohol knocked him unconscious.
Following in Daddy Dearest's footsteps. Typical.
His father staggered into the doorway, slamming his fist twice against the old wooden door with a sneer. (Y/N)'s heart skipped a beat and he tentatively paused the music, eyeing the subtle way his father swayed from side to side. Nobody could make him revert to childhood like Luke did, back when he'd cradle a crying JJ while JJ's mom and Luke got into screaming matches over one thing or the other. "Mind tellin' me why the hell there's a Cameron standin' on our goddamn porch? I don't want no problems with Ward, (Y/N)."
"Jesus," (Y/N) exhaled, pulling the earbuds from his ears and standing up. "Which Cameron, Dad? The idiot or the chick?"
"The chick." Fuckin' Camerons. Fuckin' Sarah. "If Ward catches wind of his little girl strutting aroun' here half-naked-"
"What are you even talking about?" (Y/N) tossed his phone aside and sucked his teeth, slipping past his father and hearing those familiar heavy footsteps follow him to the front door. Sure enough, there stood Sarah Cameron, her head tilted out toward the marsh and arms folded over her bare stomach. Christ.
"I want no problems. Understood, boy?" Luke hissed in his ear, moving past him and sparing the blonde a glance before he walked toward his truck. (Y/N) inhaled deeply and ran a hand over his face, finding relief in the fact his father coincidentally needed to head into town under the guise of an errand, when they both knew Luke only ran 'errands' when he needed a hit of something strong. Probably needed something to take his mind off the bruises on his face.
"I shouldn't have to explain why showing up here, on the Cut, dressed in a bikini top and shorts is a shit idea, Sarah."
"I was going to the beach with some- whatever, it doesn't matter. I... I wanted to talk about the other day, alright? You know, when you basically yelled at me-"
"Yeah, yeah, okay. Next time, instead of showing up, you get my number from one of the Pogues and you text me, alright? The guys my dad hangs out with call girls like you jailbait, Sarah. They're sleazy fucks who couldn't care less about where you come from." (Y/N) huffed, but regardless, he pushed the front door open enough for her to step inside, eyes following the cloud of dust left behind by his father's truck as it sped down the road.
The Maybank's home was hardly anything to look at but (Y/N) managed to keep it clean, at least whenever Hurricane Luke didn't pass through. The general upkeep, and frankly everything else, fell on his shoulders with JJ gone half the time and Luke too intoxicated to care about the world around him. Just about every piece of furniture was old, passed down from Maybank to Maybank without so much as a repair or restoration. At the very least, trying to fix the broken things at a young age had given him some pretty decent skills. He couldn't do much about the holes in the walls and doors, though.
"It's my day off, Sarah. I'd like to spend it without stressing over any of the bullshit that's been going on the past couple of days, 'kay? Say your piece and go off with your boytoy, princess. I want to have a beer in hand by noon so make it quick." (Y/N) sat back on the armrest of the worn couch, crossing his arms and watching the girl study her surroundings. Sarah slipped her tote bag off her shoulder and set it on another seat, leaning back against the barely used dining table. Great. Definitely wasn't going to be quick.
"I didn't appreciate you getting in my face, for starters. It was rude and unnecessary and I wasn't even given a chance to explain our side of the story. We found the gold in the Crain house and we went to your job thinking you were there. You weren't, obviously. The old lady and Barry were and they set us up. Barry held us at gunpoint and tried robbing us. We defended ourselves. JJ went rogue and robbed Barry. We told him not to." Sarah kept her arms crossed as she spoke, finishing with a light shrug and slightly jutted lips. "I'm not a thief and I'm not a liar, either. I wanted to set the story straight."
"You could've found diamonds or emeralds or rubies in that old ass house, and I still would've been pissed about this treasure hunt continuing. Big John is dead and you know how he died? Treasure hunting. John B wants to die like his dad? Fine by me. I stopped liking him a long time ago. But JJ? The idiot that I spent my whole life raising? I'm gonna make sure that little shit dies of old age. If you want to merrily march into danger with Routledge, fine, go for it. Keep my brother out of it."
"Why do you keep bringing JB up as if I like him? I already told you John B isn't my boyfriend. He's my friend, and yes, I care about him. I-I want to see him happy and that's why I'm helping him but-"
"Is that the only reason you're helping him?" (Y/N) asked, rising from the armrest and taking slow steps toward the blonde. Her brows lifted slightly and her lips twitched, slowly curling upward into that little smile despite how much she tried resisting it. She looked away from him defiantly and clicked her tongue, eyes trailing back toward him.
"Are you suggesting I became friends with John B just to see you? Quite the ego you've got, Maybank. I said I liked you, not that I'm obsessed with you." Her voice softened, laced with playfulness and a hint of mischief, her previous irritation (if she'd even been irritated to begin with) long gone.
"I was gonna say you wanted to piss off Carrera but if that's the first thing that came to mind..." He trailed off, hearing her scoff in soft disbelief before she swatted at his shoulder halfheartedly. She rolled her eyes and pursed her lips slightly, peering up at him through her dark lashes.
"You're a dick." She murmured, not nearly as offended as the last time she'd uttered those words.
"Yeah," He dipped down slightly, hands finding the back of her thighs and fingers digging into the warm plushness of her skin. Her hands landed on his shoulders, soft giggles leaving her as he lifted her onto the table, the wood creaking softly under the added weight. One hand slid up from his shoulder and curled around his neck, the tip of her nails slightly scraping against his skin. Sarah's skin flushed. "And the sky's blue."
"But what else is new, right?" Her lips stretched out into a smile before she leaned in, pressing them against his as his hands moved from her thighs to her hips, half his palms pressing against her skin and the other half against her denim shorts. He pulled her closer until she'd gone flush against him, her legs wrapping loosely around him. Her arm curled around his shoulder and her head tilted to the side, a muffled, flustered giggle leaving her when his teeth lightly dug into her bottom lip. His hand moved and pressed flat against her exposed back, trailing upward until his fingers found the bottom straps of the olive green bikini. With one swift tug, they went undone.
There was a dizzying aspect to making out with a Cameron, he'd come to realize. Maybe it was the knowledge that her father could be considered one of the most influential men on the island or that his life could change for better or worse with just a word from her. It was an intoxicating feeling if he had to be honest. Sarah seemed to feel similarly considering her fingers dug into him and pulled him as close as possible, her breath escaping her in soft pants. She leaned back briefly and pulled her hands away, dipping them under her hair and undoing the straps keeping the bikini on her. She tossed it aside blindly and mushed their lips together again, arms coiling around him and body slightly lifting itself onto him. His hands returned to her thighs and he lifted her again, letting muscle memory kick in as he found his way back to his bedroom.
He really needed to stop hanging out with the Pogues. They were messing with his judgment.
At the very least, he'd spent his free day doing something fun, even if regret began to dig into his back. He was a Maybank. He lived up to the asshole playboy part of his family's reputation 'cause there was nothing better than messing around to take the stress off, but he never enjoyed toying with someone's heart. He'd made a rule in middle school after his first heartbreak to never knowingly get involved with anyone who actually liked him. The first time with Sarah hadn't broken that rule but now...
"Can I ask what we are or will that ruin your mood?" Sarah's voice piped up, her lips dragging lightly over his shoulder. His fingertip ran up and down her spine, feeling the goosebumps along her skin while he stared at the ceiling. It felt grounding to have weight pressing him against the bed, even if it was Sarah Cameron of all people.
"I just like having sex with you sometimes. That's all." He answered and she shifted, hands planting themselves on either side of his head and body lifting itself up slightly. Her hair tumbled down her shoulders, the ends tickling his cheek.
"Sometimes?" She repeated with an arched brow. "You want to do this more often?"
"You're not bad for a virgin." He murmured.
"Not one anymore, remember?"
"Yeah, I remember." His hand moving along her back dipped under the covers that'd pooled around her hips, squeezing the skin hiding underneath. She flushed immediately and lowered herself back onto him, burying her warmed face in his neck and huffing. "You were pretty loud-"
"Okay." She groaned and lifted her head again, her reddened cheeks puffed out slightly. "So… how do we do this? Have you done this before?"
"Yeah, until she and I had a pregnancy scare. It was enough to make us block each other." (Y/N) answered, pushing himself up slightly and against the wall behind his pillows. Her legs tangled around his further, and her eyes widened at the revelation. "Let's set some ground rules. I'm going to give you my number and you'll use it whenever you want to see me. If anyone asks, it's just to keep in touch about JJ. Routledge probably thinks you've got the hots for him so I'd prefer if you didn't tell him or Thornton. Let those two go at each other. If you want to be spontaneous like today, you bring protection. I really don't need a little bastard running around right now."
"I've been on birth control since freshmen year. Rose insisted on it."
"Good for you. My mom was on it when she decided to fuck around and find out and here I am now." He raised his brows at her. "Anyways... don't get your hopes up for anything, Sarah. I mean it. If you don't think you can handle it, that's fine. We're supposed to be having fun, not getting hurt by disappointment."

I think one of the things that gets lost in the big, endless internet conversation about whether or not heroes should kill their villains is the fact that killing villains off robs you of a lot of story-telling potential. The Joker died at the end of his debut story in Batman - imagine what Batman would be if he stayed dead. No Joker in Batman 66, no The Killing Joke which means no Barbara Gordon as Oracle and no The Dark Knight, no Mark Hamill Joker episodes of BTAS (so many of them were based on his comic appearances, after all - the laughing fish is a direct adaptation of a comic), which means no Harley Quinn and no Return of the Joker, on and on it goes.
Like, you can argue the morality of heroes sparing their villains till you turn blue - god knows this site does it at least a thousand times a day - but on a purely pragmatic story-telling level, the minute you kill ANY character, you kill all the story potential they had. And yeah, it's fiction, you can bring them back from the dead if you really need them, but that's a pretty hard story beat to pull off without hurting your story. You don't want to fill your tale with "Somehow, Palpatine has returned" moments.
And you can just make new villains, sure, but again you have a problem with that - a new villain has to establish themselves and has to stand out from who came before, which means you can't go directly to the storylines you could have had with a villain who stuck around AFTER their introduction. A recurring villain is capable of doing things that one-off villains can't.
youtube
I'm going to illustrate this with a character from a fandom I'm not even a part of - I never played the Ratchet and Clank series and am only vaguely aware of it, but one day I saw a supercut of scenes starring one of its recurring villains, Dr. Nefarious, on twitter, and I was like "Oh shit, that's the guy who plays Quark on Deep Space Nine, isn't? This guys a hoot, let's see if we can find more clips on youtube." Which brought me to this hefty video here from one of the more recent games in the series.
And, like, as a person who "doesn't even go here," it's obvious this goofy little fucker has a history. His opening scenes have him ranting about how much it sucks to lose repeatedly - a lampshade on the "flaw" of a recurring villain, i.e. that their threat diminishes the more they come back because, by the nature of their role in the story, it means they've suffered a lot of losses. So how cool is it that as this supercut chugs along you can clearly see this is a theme of the game - that this is a story about the virtue of losing, a story that is enriched by having an antagonist who fans of the series know has lost a LOT?
The true antagonist is an alternate version of Dr. Nefarious who's won every fight in his life so far, apparently with little effort, and I love how they differ on a design aspect. They're both technically mad scientists, but notably, Emperor Nefarious, the winner, has a more imposing and "heroic" build, but a smaller brain-dome for his robot brains. Because winning may make him look strong, but if a mad scientist's real power is their mind, well, which Nefarious is really the strong one here then?
Dr. Nefarious gets this juicy arc about realizing the virtue in his repeated failures that corresponds with the heroic characters struggling to find a way to win against a seemingly invincible opponent, as well as contrasts the true villain, Dr. Nefarious's explicit counterpart and foil Emperor Nefarious, who has never once lost and is a total piece of shit for it. Again, not my fandom, I don't go here, not an expert on Ratchet and Clank, but even as a relative stranger to it who's just watching a big supercut, I fucking love this. This is an excellent story.
And it's one you can only tell with a recurring villain. Without Dr. Nefarious, this story works significantly less. You need a villain with a history the audience has seen to really sell this.
Anyway, I made this post because, ironically enough, I saw another tweet talking about how some fans think Dr. Nefarious should have been killed off in his first appearance, and, like... that's just fucking baffling to me, as a person outside this fandom looking in. Recurring villains deserve more love, man, they give us so much.

Hello! I really enjoy your LaDS writings!
I was wondering if you can do a headcanon with Caleb or Rafayel with a workaholic and burnt out reader?
Thank you so much!
A/N: Dear Anon-san, Thank you so much for requesting <3 For this one, I went with Caleb because I already made something similar to the prompt for Rafayel, where he soothes a stressed out reader (though the reason why she's being like that isn't because of work). You can read it here. I really do enjoy writing for Caleb since we haven't seen many of his story yet in the game. I hope you are content with this story too. On a side note, I've recently got a few requests about a stressful or burnt out reader. I just wanna make sure my readers are doing alright out there <3 Sending you mental support right here through the fics I write <3
A Surprise Visit
Returning home at midnight after a long day of work, you unexpectedly find a guest being in your apartment.
‧₊˚❀༉ Caleb x F!Reader
‧₊˚❀༉ Soft fluff, domestic fluff
‧₊˚❀༉ Masterlist
‧₊˚❀༉ Request a fic
You came home when the clock struck twelve. The night was quiet, only the sound of your tired footsteps echoed in the empty hallway. After what seemed like an endless journey, you finally reached your apartment.
You unlocked the door. A soft glow from within illuminated the corridor. Since you left early in the morning, you did not recall leaving the light on. You let out a long sigh and felt guilty for being forgetful.
Yet, in the house there were not only lights, but also the delicious smell of food. How strange! How peculiar! You felt your weariness leave your mind as it was replaced by vigilance. Was there another person in the house?
You tiptoed to the kitchen, where the aroma of food made your stomach rumble. Then, you saw a very familiar figure. Fortunately, you were able to contain your joy and instead called his name quietly:
“Caleb?!”
He turned around, nodded and smiled at you. “You're back just now? Wash your face first and we'll have dinner."
You rubbed your eyes. Was it because you're so tired that you're daydreaming?
“Caleb? Is that really you?”
A soup was cooking on the kitchen counter as Caleb departed. Reaching over, he put his hand on top of your head.
“Are you expecting another man then?”
You immediately shook your head. Your hands reached up to wrap around Caleb's wrist and untangle it from your hair before he patted your head again like a child.
“No way! I'm just surprised to see you here, at this hour... Aren't you busy with your mission at Skyhaven?”
"Everything went smoothly. So now I'll take a few days off."
“Why didn't you tell me you're coming? I thought the apartment was being robbed..."
Caleb reached out and pinched your cheek. It was painful. He said:
“What kind of thief would help you clean up this messy apartment and even cook for you because they knew you got off work this late?”
You rubbed the cheek that had just been pinched and frowned. “You don't need to pinch it so hard.”
Caleb laughed. He told you to quickly go inside to wash up and get changed while he finished cooking the soup. You obediently followed. How joyful it is to get home after a hectic day and see the one you love. All of a sudden, you forgot how tired you were after the long day.
The two of you had a simple meal. Caleb said that since it was late, you shouldn't eat too much. He observed you as you were enjoying your food. He had taken care of the apartment, made a trip to the grocery store and prepared your meal all day. What surprised and delighted you the most, though, was the fact that he was here. You had given Caleb a spare key a long time ago, but to be honest, you never thought he would pay a surprise visit. Due to work, you both had to live in two cities far apart.
After dinner, you threw yourself on the sofa and grabbed your laptop. Caleb got you a cup of warm water, then used his Evol to take the device out of your hands.
“I still have a report to finish…”
You wanted to get your laptop back, but Caleb turned it off and put it aside. "That's something you can't do right now." He stated. “Do you know what time it is? Shouldn't you be in bed? There are dark circles around your eyes.”
He used a finger to poke the thin skin below your eyes. It must be dark by now and somewhat made you look like a panda. You grimaced:
“Don't mess around, Caleb. I have a ton of work to get done.”
“I'm not messing with you either.” Caleb had a solemn expression. “You've been working hard for many days. Now you need to rest. I'm here to make sure of that.”
You let out a sigh. You were drawn into Caleb's embrace. Maybe he was right— you need to rest. Yet, the notion of the incomplete task made you feel quite uncomfortable.
You were a workaholic, and Caleb knew it. He therefore needed to be even more committed to getting you to give up the laptop.
“You're always working. It's hard to find some spare time with you." Caleb whispered as he rested his head on your hair.
You admitted you were a bit neglectful of Caleb, but that's because your job required extra work and concentration.
“I had to text Tara to find out you got off work at midnight.” Cale went on. “If you read the message, you'd know I've been here since noon.”
You raised up. At that time, you hurriedly reached for the phone on the table. As you opened it, you saw a series of messages and missed calls from Caleb.
“Oh… I'm really sorry…” You mumbled. “I really don't know where I left my phone…”
Caleb rubbed your shoulder, then pulled you back to the original position, leaning on his lap. "No problem. It's the price I pay for dating a girl who loves her job more than me."
You giggled as you pressed your face against his neck and gave him a breath tickle.
“I already apologized.”
He put his arms around your waist and gave you a gentle squeeze. Only when you were in his arms, listening to his heart beat, feeling his warmth and subtle scent, and only then could you stop acting tough. You could burst into tears. You could let the weight and pressure of work fall on your shoulders. For you knew, he would fight against the world with you.
Only then did you face your physical and mental fatigue and acknowledge that you were just too exhausted to handle everything at once.
“If you're truly sorry,” Caleb's monotone voice rang out as you gradually drifted off to sleep in his arms. “Then you must let me have you this whole weekend, okay?”

Oh then! Can I request a scenario where Toji eavesdrops on a convo between Reader and Gojo (or whoever) where Reader confesses to having a crush on Toji?
Thank you so much!
Confessions of a Confection Thief (Toji x Teacher!Fem!Reader)
Plot: On a warm summer day, you confess your love for the man once known as the Sorcerer Killer to the man who, twelve years ago, spared his life. What you don't count on is the man in question listening in, nor the consequences of a mere lunch invitation.
Tags: au in which Gojo heals Toji's ass with reverse jujutsu and makes him his bitch, reader is megumi's teacher, parent/teacher relationship, age gap (reader early 30s, toji early 40s), character development!toji, soft!toji, confession, unprotected sex, oral sex (m. receiving), facial, doggy style, petnames (teach', sweetheart, baby, doll), MDNI (obviously)
A/N: You can tell I got inspired since this took me 9k words to develop that feature not only the confession, but the date and the "happy ever after" ehe. Hopefully this was worth the wait!
“Damn machine!” You grunt as you kick at the vending machine’s side, lamenting over the 1,000 yen bill you were just robbed of.
“Let me give it a try.” The man beside you suggests and you clear the stage for him to work his magic. His right hand lifts from his pocket, open fingers coaxing an entire bundle of sodas out without even making contact. What a show-off.
He gathers the cans off the ground and hands you the one that is your favorite, making you wait while he places the rest on top of the vendor for a lucky student to find.
“Isn’t that considered damaging school property?” You raise a brow, yanking the ring close to the tab with a pop.
“Is it?” He chuckles, bringing his refreshment to his lips. “It was already damaged when we got here. Ijichi’s gonna get an earful later.”
“I don’t think that falls under Ijichi’s responsibilities, Satoru. Cut him some slack already.”
“No harm in harassing your cute underclassmen from time to time, Y/N.” He smiles. “You should try it too.”
Right, you mutter under your breath, already regretting your decision to spill your heart’s contents on someone with such little regard for others. Shoko would’ve been a better choice. Utahime, too. You could wait until the weekend, get on the first bullet train to Kyoto, and have a girls’ night out like you used to before life and work got in the way. They’d surely talk you out of the horrible mistake you’re about to commit. Maybe that’s why you chose Satoru. He’s the only one who’d give you the final push down the cliff, and you don’t mind the fall.
“So what is it that you wanted to talk about?” He brings you back to the parching reality of Jujutsu Tech’s grounds, with the sun glinting across every metallic surface and body of water in the perimeter. The heatwave has only begun, and thankfully, the outburst of curses has finally simmered down, or else you’ve no idea how you’d survive abandoned building-hopping with those three rascals.
You take a sip from your soda, the taste of honeydew melon cooling your throat like the sweetest form of redemption. You struggle not to gulp it all down in one go, eyeing the remainder of drinks that have vanished in the horizon—or rather, you have, your steps leading you toward a path of tori gates that itself leads to the school’s Inari shrine. This should be safe. No one comes around these places.
“I have a confession to make.”
Satoru stops in his tracks, awaiting a follow-up that doesn’t come. His sunglasses come off, and a knowing smile slowly creeps up his lips. “I know.”
“Y-You do?” You blink in surprise. What does he know? How does he know? Since when does he know? “Satoru—”
“You’re the one who ate the last Manzu.”
And he couldn’t be any more off the mark.
You sigh. “That’s not it.”
“It’s not? Huh.” He wipes his mouth with the back of his palm after chugging his strawberry-flavored soda. “Guess I’ll have to ask Ijichi about that too.”
“Please don’t torment him for useless things.” You cast your gaze to your feet, kicking a pebble as you speak. “What I want to confess is… my feelings.”
The cicadas come to a stop, leaving space for your words to take root. You are hesitant to move forward, cautiously treading on the shells of emotions you recently began to accept. Almost there, you encourage yourself as Satoru invades your personal space, cornering you against the red gate’s pillar.
“Finally decided to profess your love for me?”
You shove his smug face away and roll your eyes at the notion. “Dream on, Shit-toru.”
He takes a step back, acting as if you just delivered a fatal blow to his heart. You chuckle at his childish antics while shaking your head in disapproval. To think the future of the entire Jujutsu world rests on the shoulders of a conceited guy who makes everything about him.
“Then who’s the lucky guy?”
Your anxiety resumes before it has the chance to fully dissipate. You close your eyes and lean back against the pillar, the familiar name on your tongue feeling foreign. “It’s… Fushiguro.”
“Fushiguro?” You nod. You understand it’s a lot to take in and give him a moment to process it, yet the longer he takes to answer, the more tempted you are to say this was a joke and call things off. “Don’t you think there’s a bit of an age gap?”
“I mean… I suppose there is.” You sound defeated. If even Satoru saw this as an issue, then there’s no reason he wouldn’t. “You think it’s that bad?”
“Bad?” His lips twitch. “The heart wants what it wants, Y/N. Give it a few years, and the difference won’t matter.”
“You think I have a chance?”
“Oh, definitely! I saw Yuji move some of his American-star posters into his room last week, and he didn’t throw any away. Jennifer Lawrence ‘s your age, right?”
Your memory is put to the test as you go through various Jennifers. Is she the one from Friends or the one married to Ben Affleck?
“I think she’s older by a few years.”
“Older?” He snorts. “Well, if it makes you feel younger, then who am I to argue?”
You decide to let his comment slide for the sake of picking on the dissonance in his words. “But what does a Hollywood actress have to do with this? And Itadori—what are you talking about?”
“Y/N, you should get to know him a bit better before confessing, don’t you think?” Satoru says, as he finds your beloved pebble and tosses it in your direction. You catch it with your heel. “The kind of woman he likes; his best friend; the ages of top-paid actors. These things shape up a guy’s adolescence. They’re as crucial.”
By the time he finishes talking, all the puzzle pieces fall into place, and you have to mentally control every joint in your body to prevent it from lashing at him with fury second only to the Curse King’s. Even by Satoru’s dubious standards, this is plain outrageous.
“Are you outta your mind?” You yell, pushing your hair off your sweaty forehead with both palms. “How could you—why would you—what do you take me for?” You fail to put your thoughts in order until you suck in a deep breath. “I would never crush on any of my students, or any other minor, for that matter!” You declare.
Thin white eyebrows furrow in genuine confusion. “But you said—”
“Fushiguro! The man I’m in love with is Fushiguro Toji!”
And not a single soul is left on campus who hasn’t heard your confession, no matter how far and wide or close you think they are scattered.
Toji’s never set foot on these damned grounds without cursing to himself as if the paths his shoes traverse are paved with nothing but shit. Even after all these years, something about marching through the front door just doesn’t feel right. It’s not hatred, that’s for sure. He’s spent more than two-thirds of his life cultivating his loathing for sorcerers to the point where he can tell it apart by taste alone.
No, what’s tainting his palate right now and will continue doing so in the days to come is more akin to chagrin than resentment. It’s failure. A failure that’s branded onto the bare skin of his torso and that he can’t pawn off for as long as he stands, because if a fate worse than death exists, then that’s surviving on a snotty brat’s pity.
Wiping some of his sweat and plenty of his regrets against his pants, Toji remembers his reason for being here has nothing to do with Six-Eyes or his past shortcomings, as he’s here to share the news of his divorce papers finalization with the only person he’s keen on letting know: you.
A decade has passed since he last heard from his wife—his ex-wife who had no qualms about leaving everything behind (her daughter included) and ran back to her parents, never to be seen or heard from again until a hotshot big firm lawyer showed up at his doorstep with a bunch of papers and a platinum-coated Montblanc in hand.
And with that, another overdue chapter was closed, the rest of the pages flipping through the wind. By the end of summer, the goalkeeper in his relationship with his son will be heading off to college, and with Tsumiki gone, Megumi decided he’d grown old enough to slam the door on his face and choose that faux albino sorcerer over his own blood.
It was that very rebellion that roused Toji to reevaluate his lifestyle. He stopped counting the years after the candle with the number 4 became prominent in each birthday cake, but that didn’t stop time from moving forward. He was aging. And while one-night stands do a decent enough job to distract him from searching his scalp for graying hair, the nights he catches himself wishing his bed could stay warm the morning after add up.
None of the silly little girls he fools around with are capable of that, not the way you are. Since that first PT meeting he begrudgingly attended two months ago, a rusty cog in his heart began turning again.
You don’t match any of his previous criteria. You don’t come from a wealthy family and aren’t an airhead either. You live in the dorms because you can’t afford rent in the city, and you are smart enough to have graduated from a big university. You are one of them, but you’re also proof that not all beauty was lost with her.
Toji doesn’t want to screw this up. Just once, he wants to do things right. He waited until he was a free man in the eyes of the law, wore his good jeans on a day when wearing jeans should be considered a criminal offense, and kept enough cash to afford however many side dishes you ordered—assuming you accepted his lunch invitation in the first place.
The jittery, four-eyed guy he ran into on his way to your class pointed him in the direction of the school’s shrine. After a while of wandering around, Toji spots two sets of imprints in the soil, the smaller ones belonging to your heels and the larger ones undoubtedly being that brat’s. Luck isn’t on his side today. His stride overlaps with Gojo’s as he childishly covers the younger man’s tracks, leaving yours intact, and eventually, the sound of clamor confirms his lead.
He strays off the pebbled path and mingles with the shadows of the dense forest, scoffing as Gojo’s shit-eating grin becomes apparent. That beanpole’s standing way too close to you. Toji almost intervenes when you finally push him. A kick to the nuts would do him better, but that’s enough for a tiny smile to rise on his scar. That’s my girl.
There’s no reason to stay hidden anymore. After all, that brat is already aware of his presence. He takes a few steps forward, turning into a pillar of salt at your sudden outburst.
“The man I’m in love with is Fushiguro Toji!”
His hand nearly reaches inside his back pocket to double-check the name on his ID. Looks like some of his luck returned to him. Asking you out just got a whole lot easier.
“Fushiguro Toji?” Gojo twists a finger in his ear. “Doesn’t ring a bell.”
Toji hisses, his fist itching to knock some teeth off his face. That ought to jog his memory, but he holds back, realizing that’s all part of Six-Eyes’ plan. To egg him on into a brawl he can’t win.
“He wiped the floor with your face only a few years back, Satoru.” You sound as irritated as he is. “How could you possibly forget?”
The man folds his arms over his chest, sparing a glare in Toji’s direction as he reclines against the tori gate. “Was it at the arcades? Man, no need to rub it in.”
Your lips part, but no sound comes out. You sigh, hogging the unoccupied pillar with no intention to play his game.
“What about Megumi’s old man won you over?” Gojo gives in. “His kart skills?”
“So you do remember, after all.” You murmur in a low voice. “I don’t know. He’s just… nice.”
“Nice?” Gojo asks with utter disgust painted on his face.
Nice?
You nod, fumbling with the hem of your navy-blue dress. “Hey, Satoru. You know what makes for a good parent?” You don’t let either of them consider their answers. “It’s effort. Not success, but effort. Mister Fushiguro hasn’t missed any of his son’s PT meetings, even when the two of them are clearly at odds.”
Toji feels too guilty to step in and correct you that his priority is to see you. Not that Megumi doesn’t matter, but what’s the point of hearing his son excels in everything he never could for the nth time in a month?
“And?”
You glance at the clear sky. “And you remember those forms Yaga gave us for the kids to fill out? Nobara said her dream was to buy out Daikanyama. You can guess what Yuji’s was. As for Megumi, he left his blank, and when I asked him later, he said that he doesn’t have time for dreams; that his goal is to repay his dad the money he lost from the Naobito deal, so he owes him nothing.”
The two men blink in surprise. “Didn’t think he knew about that.”
“You aren’t exactly a quiet speaker, Satoru.” You shrug. “Point is, he doesn’t know. Neither of them do. Megumi doesn’t know his father attends his PT meetings, and Mister Fushiguro doesn’t know about his son’s dream. Isn’t it funny? They both care about each other but are too awkward to admit it.”
“And you call me twisted.” Gojo yawns. “You wanna act like a bridge between them? Is that it?”
You shake your head. “I wouldn’t want to interfere. Megumi placed his trust in me as his teacher when he disclosed that, and Mister Fushiguro… We are nothing to each other.”
Yet, Toji mentally added.
“You might think it’s crazy, but I think Mister Fushiguro’s heart is full of raw emotion he can’t put in order on his own. He’s not taught how to, and I… I think I could help him out with that; be someone he can direct those feelings to. No, I—” You shake your head again, except this time you do so with a little smile of conviction tugging at your lips. “I want to be that person. I want to be his person.”
Gojo doesn’t say anything for a good while, and you end up nearly as flustered as Toji himself. “Of course there are plenty of other things I like about him! He is funny, charming, has his own house,” your voice drops in volume, “he is very attractive, and we have the same taste in seafood.”
“Sounds to me like you’ve got it all figured out.” Gojo let his hand drop after fixing his sunglasses over his nose bridge. “But you should know, Fushiguro, or rather Zen’in Toji, is a lot more than that. He’s killed more sorcerers in his prime than most curses combined. Not sayin’ that to be a buzz kill, but you should be careful around him, or else,” his tone drops a menacing octave as he peers over his shades, “I’ll have to terminate that relationship myself.
“You get it, right?” He switched back to his usual voice with a lighthearted chuckle. “Wouldn’t want to lose another precious friend.”
Silence reigns between you, and that’s Toji’s cue to walk up. He’s heard enough. The few fallen leaves rustle under his weight, caution thrown to the wind as tiny twigs crunch below his sandals. He’s close enough for you to tell someone’s coming, but not close enough to tell that someone is him.
“Got nothin’ better to do than gossip about others, Six-Eyes?” Toji paces in the middle of you two, his eyes flickering in your direction. He has to brace himself not to smile at how red your face has gotten, his resolve giving way to a suggestive smirk. “Teach’.”
“Mister Fushiguro.” Your smile is shaky, but there. Always there for him.
“Yo, it’s been a long time!” Gojo springs forward. “Came for a rematch?” His hand travels up his neck, rolling his shoulder blades one at a time. “Could use the exercise.”
“I’m done fighting kids.” Toji deadpans.
“Is that so?” Gojo scratches the back of his head. “Your hands must be full with all that jell-o they feed you at retirement house,” he chuckled at his own joke. “What then? Remembered to pay the med bills twelve years later?”
“Satoru!” You object.
“Only if you remembered to hand the Star Vessel cash back.”
“Mister Fushiguro!”
“Money belongs to Amanai,” Gojo raises his volume. “I don’t think she’d want you to have it.”
“Really? ‘Cause last time I checked, corpses don’t talk.” Toji grits his teeth and unwillingly finds himself at the end of your right palm, the other one prompting Gojo to maintain his distance.
Your eyes are round, but the look behind them firm. The same look you assume when you reprimand your students, he bets. His gaze is drawn to your fingers, small and slender as they graze his shirt. You’ve never been so close to him before. If it weren’t for the walking parasite to his left, he might’ve been enjoying the proximity.
Perhaps for the first time in his life, Toji is the one to back away first, clearing his throat with a soundless cough. His eyes remain on Gojo’s while he speaks. “I’m here to take her out.” He stops and considers adding “to lunch”, previous occupation and all, but deems that should be obvious enough.
“You got time?” His tone softens, still bearing hints of the annoyance he failed to submerge.
A single finger pad skims over his chest as you withdraw your hand, slower than you did the other. So cute. He promises to give you plenty of opportunities to touch him later.
“I have an afternoon class, but Satoru can cover for me.” You smile sweetly at Toji and click your heel down on Gojo’s foot. “Right, Satoru?”
He’s inclined to agree, his face lightening up behind his shades. “As long as you agree to grade my papers for the next three months.”
“I’m already stuck grading the papers from when you went to Hiroshima,” you mumble under your breath, your nose scrunching in an expression that’s new to Toji. “Fine.”
“Mister Fushiguro?” You turn to him.
Toji shoots Gojo a stunted glare before his large palm finds its place in the small of your back, prodding you to move forward.
On the way to the car you find yourself making small talk about the weather, and on the way to the restaurant, your getaway is Megumi’s recent success in domain creation. This isn’t the first time you’re alone with him, but with every mile you count away from school grounds, you shrink into an ever-growing bundle of nerves that threatens to unravel on his passenger seat.
You’re in the middle of your third recounting of the kids’ excursion in Saitama when a hand moves to your lap and muzzles your every thought.
“Don’t tell me you’re nervous, Teach’.” Toji says once you’re stopped at a red light.
He’s careful to keep his fingers over your dress, only his thumb looming over the bare skin of your knee. Your glance loses momentum as it travels from his knuckles to his wrist and then his elbow, reveling at the sight of muscles bulging underneath his rolled-up white shirt. You’re glad half of his attention remains on the steering wheel, because if you got to see the other side of his lopsided smile, then you might say something that’s unbecoming of an educator—and you almost do, after his hand drops to the gear stick.
“I don’t normally do these things, Mister Fushiguro.” You admit, preserving some of his leftover warmth with your own palm.
“Hmm? What things?”
“Going on dates with parents—it’s a first for me.”
“Oh? So that’s what this is?” He chuckles lowly, as if the notion were new to him. Other than the few visible wrinkles around his eyes, you wouldn’t guess this man was roughly ten years your senior. “You can relax. Got a long way before the main course, sweetheart.”
Embarrassment flares up in your cheeks at the pet name. You can’t remember the last time you were asked out, let alone called something of that volume. You don’t mind it. If anything, you like the ring.
“Ah, and do me a favor, won’t ya?” His head cocks to the side, tousled black strands falling forward. “Quit callin’ me that.”
“Calling you what?”
“Mister Fushiguro.” He grimaces. “It’s ex mister Fushiguro now.”
“What?” You exclaim with more excitement than you’re entitled to.
It doesn’t go unnoticed. “Check the compartment glove.”
You do as you’re told, discovering a bitten-off subway that’s wrapped around at least four layers of napkins. His sloppy eating habits mustn’t be what he’s so eager for you to see. You nudge it to the side and dig out a few crane toys that are too adorable to be his, and then finally, a stack of creased official documents that you have to separate from the massage parlor flyers stuck between the pages.
You quickly go over the lines, the most notable by far being the words “Divorce Agreement” written in all capitals on the front page. “Is this…?”
He nods. “Got ‘em this morning. Thought you’d take proof over my word.”
“That’s amazing, Mister Fushig—” You bite your tongue. “Looks like you got to keep all your assets, too.”
“All, except that name.”
You remember pondering why, even though Toji was born into the main family, both he and his son left the Zen’in surname behind. Others would kill for a chance to be written in their family registry—but then again, it was just like the Zen’ins to keep clan matters private.
“You can call me Toji until I take on a new surname.” He continues, his voice reflecting his lax smile. “Am open to suggestions.”
You return it, piecing a non-existent strand of hair behind your ear. “Already proposing that I should marry you?”
“Better strike while the iron’s hot,” quietly adding, “figured that should give ya enough time to sort my shit out.”
“What was that?”
He grins as he cups your hand with his own. “We’re here.”
Toji’s restaurant of choice turns out to be a cozy little family restaurant by the park in Nerima. He asks if you’ve been there before, but you shake your head. Having no car means you rarely get to go around Tokyo without Ijichi, the kids, or Utahime whenever she decides to pull a surprise visit. You’re a tourist in your own town.
At this time of the day—neither appropriate for lunch nor for dinner—the tables are mostly empty, and you’re free to choose your own seats. He points at the bar, and you point at the window. He pulls your chair and then plops down on his own, chin quick to balance atop his wrist while he stares off at the greenery on the horizon.
You thought sitting closer to the window would be cooler, but the heat is reflected through the glass. You should have listened to him.
A waiter drops off your menus with a tired smile, patting some of the perspiration off his forehead with a napkin. “Sure is hot today, isn’t it?”
You nod politely and start browsing the list of appetizers. All those nights you spent bent over your tiny desk lamp pile up against you as your stomach lets out a low grumble—overjoyed to be presented with something that doesn’t require a microwave.
“You drink?” Toji waves the wine menu in your face.
“If the occasion calls for it.” Your reply paves the way for his next question. “I’d say a glass of champagne is due to celebrate your freedom.”
He flings the menu at the next table. “Don’t have that here. Maybe next time,” he says, and you almost stand in ovation at the prospect of there being a next time.
“You don’t want anything?”
“Not a drinker.” He doesn’t care to elaborate. You go back to scanning the pages, and you must’ve taken long enough for him to grab onto your menu. “I can recommend you some.”
Your stomach gurgles again, and this time he hears it. His stare lowers over your body, and you shift in your seat, offering him the menu to distract him from your issue. His bottom lip curls in amusement.
“The stake’s good here since their stuff’s from Kobe-hmm,” Toji pauses as he zeroes in on an item that he taps with his index. “The barbecue ribs are the real deal.”
His green orbs spin like pinball in his eyes while he flips through the pages, pointing out what’s good and what sucks, as those are the two main phrases he uses to describe the specialties. This is the most you’ve heard him speak in a row, and admittedly, you miss out on most of what he says taking in his mannerisms.
His surprisingly well-trimmed nails drum on the table when they aren’t shifting to a different page, while his cheek prop up his fist. He makes a habit out of licking his slanted scar at every nasal consonant, and there’s a slight drawl whenever he stumbles upon a foreign word, his thin brows furrowing in uncertainty. However, his most distinctive quirk of all remains the unintentional frown his lips shape; a trait shared with your young protege.
Toji might be a little rough around the edges, but still carries some of that boyish charm.
“So?” He slaps the menu shut.
You suck on your teeth, unable to remember a single specialty. “I’ll have what you’re having. You sound like you come here often.”
He gestures for the waiter to come over. “The kids dragged me here all the time. There’s a park here,” he points outside the window, as if that’s self-explanatory. The image of a little Megumi and a little Tsumiki tugging at their father’s pants to play hide-and-seek makes your heart swell.
The waiter arrives approximately a minute later, and Toji places your orders. You’re apparently having the aforementioned ribs, along with a beef bowl, some chashu, and a few standard vegetable dishes that, for some reason, should not contain any red bell peppers. He chose plenty, but he chose smart. None of these break the bank.
“Why not bell peppers?” You ask once the waiter goes off to fetch your water. Toji scratches his jaw as if he’s got no idea what you’re talking about, until the realization hits him on the head.
“Fuck, Megumi’s the one who hates ‘em.” He curses and motions for the waiter again when you catch his hand in mid-air and bring it down onto the table.
“I’m not a big fan either.”
Your eyes lock with his and slowly dart to where your hands meet, watching as his fingers decisively slip between your own. He forces your wrist to prop against the wood, your knuckles hugging, while he tests out what it feels like to be holding hands. Ever since the only woman he let himself cherish passed away, he’s avoided the slightest illusion of romance, and if you could peer into his brain, you’d see him contemplating how your hands are small like hers—how they’re soft like hers.
They’re just hands; he dismisses the stupid notion that hands can be anything beyond what they appear to be, and yet yours feel special to him. He looks back at what you told that asswipe and wonders if those shards you claimed to see could ever amount to love or if you’d be cut like all the others he purposely hurt. He wonders if you are dumb enough to love him. He wonders if he’s smart enough to love you.
“Here’s the seasoned spinach and the chilled tofu—” The waiter cuts in, and the table clatters after you fail to retrieve your hand. The man makes room for the plates and the glasses, standing there with an awestruck smile until Toji harshly orders him to “Scram”.
Another man with a lousy temper.
Metallic chopsticks replace your hand as Toji transfers about half of the spinach to his plate. “Man, I’m starving.” He declares and wastes no time to dig in.
You follow his lead and quickly forget all about his rudeness as your eyes well up at the euphoric taste that floods your taste buds—your insides sincerely thanking him for each bite that makes it down your throat.
The conversation dies down while you share the appetizers unevenly, with him discreetly claiming the last bites under the guise of asking you whether you’re going to eat that. You don’t mind. After all, he is paying, and he’s ordered enough for your belly to gain that five-month pregnancy bump without your stolen share.
However, when the main dishes arrive, he does the unexpected and takes on your plate first, separating the meat from the bones without your asking. It’s a clumsy way to compensate, but you can’t help but think it’s more of a reflex than a tactic, considering all the times he must’ve had the kids slide their plates his way. You thank him by dropping an extra three chunks of meat on his plate, which he gladly accepts—no returns.
The waiter who didn’t dare approach your table after delivering the ribs comes back with the dessert menus and picks up the dishes. You don’t fuss over your choices for long—Toji decides on chocolate chiffon cake and you on coffee jelly. It is then that you realize your impromptu date is coming to an end, and you haven’t asked him one question about himself.
“So what is it that you actually do?”
No sorcerer who hasn’t heard the name “Sorcerer Killer” exists, yet only a select few know the urban legend behind it has retired—a decisive factor in his deal with Satoru.
“You mean when your little friend ain’t tasking me with his dirty business?” Toji shrugs. “Stocks, mostly.”
“Stocks?” That’s not at all what you expected.
“Takes about five minutes of your time, and if ya get lucky, you’re settled for life. Rest is knowing how to read people and the market.”
Judging by the sound his car engine emits, he must be still waiting for his big break.
“Would you say you’re good at reading others?”
“The market? It depends. The people?” Toji smiles confidently. “Yes.”
“What’s your reading on me then?” You take the bite.
“Hmm.” He rubs his chin while sizing you up. “I bet you were one of those four-eyed nerds at school.” His serious tone makes you snort out loud. “Eighty percent of your experience comes from dating shows, and the other twenty from group dates with your gals. Y’are too damn trusting and find good even in rotten apples, but don’t mind losing a shoe if someone gets on your nerves.”
“Oh, really?” You snicker into your palm and shake your head once he asks you if he’s wrong. “I’d say eighty percent right?”
“Heh, told ya I’m good.”
The waiter interrupts you as he drops your dessert in the middle of the table. He apologizes and points at a few tables away, where a little girl is devouring the last piece of chocolate cake available. Toji huffs in annoyance, attempting to bewitch the cake from the girl’s plate with his glare alone.
“We can share if you want.” You offer him a spoon, which he begrudgingly accepts.
A few spoonfuls and half a dessert later, he points the spoon at the family behind you and asks if you want one. “Kids,” he specifies. “You like ‘em?”
You tap your spoon against your lips. “Would you believe me if I said I see them as walking-talking grading papers? Don’t get me wrong, I love my job and lucked out with our first years, but this was supposed to be a co-teaching gig before Satoru offloaded even the second years on my back.”
“Want me to teach that brat a lesson?” Toji flashes a grin.
“I think his confectionery going missing before he gets to try any is enough punishment.” You smile mischievously. “I can save you some. Wagashi or castella?”
“I’m beginnin’ to like you more by the minute.” He blurts out and perhaps it’s a slip of the tongue because you catch him cocking his eyebrows upward right after.
“I like you too.” You earnestly say. “God, I sound like a teenager.”
“Nah, pretty sure you’re my dream woman.” You both scoff in unison. “Now that’s lame.”
“Yeah, it was.” You hide your blush by pretending to search for the waiter. “Shall we get the check?”
“Thanks for driving me hom—well, back.” You give a little bow, having yet to unbuckle your seat belt.
“Don’t sweat it.” Toji leans against the steering wheel. He looks even more handsome in the late-afternoon light, the shadows that contour his face bringing out his defined jawline and jade eyes. You aren’t prepared to part with the sight. Not when you were just getting accustomed to it, but every word that follows leads to a quicker parting.
“I had fun today.” He nods.
“Let’s do it again sometime.” He nods again.
“I’ll be going now.” He is reluctant to, but nods a third time.
You open the door and step out of the vehicle, your waving turning into a grip as you tug the car door back open. A perplexed look wanes into a full-blown smirk when you ask him if he’d like to come in for a bit.
“Thought you’d never ask.”
Your desk chair looks comically small wobbling beneath Toji’s weight, a long arm draped over the backrest while he gawks at your crouching form, half your body—save for your backside—swallowed by the mini fridge. He hears a lot of rattling. The dorms are quiet after sundown, and with the expulsion of the third years, the sound of empty drawers being flipped inside out (just in case a minuscule bottle of Ramune has slipped between them) echoes throughout the east wing’s desolate floors.
You should’ve grabbed those soda cans when you still had the chance. You consider running outside, but in the unlikely event no one’s gotten to them first, you doubt they’re safe for consumption after boiling under the hot sun for hours on end.
“Damn, kid screwed this one up badly, huh?”
You glance over your shoulder at Toji, who’s going through the scattered papers on your desk, finding the one test Megumi flunked in his entire four-month career at Jujutsu Tech. You close the fridge and pad toward the desk, balancing against the edge to peer at the answer sheets in Toji’s hands.
“Everyone failed that test.” You trace a finger over the bright red 48 mark. “Megumi actually did better than most; rest scored below 20.”
“Of course he did.” Toji scoffs.
He leaves the papers on the desk and quirks a brow as he takes in your image. Your dress has lifted higher up your thighs now that you’re propped on the furniture, revealing a slit that his eyes discreetly follow to where his imagination needs to fill in the blanks. He’s not here to fuck you, he reminds himself. He’s here because you were kind enough to offer him a drink for giving you a lift, but your hands are notably empty.
“What happened to the drinks?” Toji forces himself to look you in the eye, supposing that your eyes existed on the same level as your tits—perfectly delineated under your dress’ square neckline. He hasn’t even kissed you, and he’s already picturing what your nipples would look like sucked between his lips.
He shouldn’t go there. He really isn’t here to fuck you.
“I… forgot to do my shopping this week,” you answer, oblivious to his lewd thoughts. “Sorry, I brought you up here for nothing.”
“It’s fine.” Toji glances at the wall clock. Time’s the greatest excuse. “I should go. It’s getting late.”
And he really thinks he’s made the right call, until your dangling foot pushes against his chest to prevent him from getting up—slowly traveling down his lap while his eyes travel up to your actual ones, picking on a glint he previously missed.
“It’s not right for me to let you leave empty-handed.” Your voice assumes a sultry intonation that contradicts your angelic smile. The spread of your legs widens to reveal a thin white strip that clashes with the dark blue of your dress. He feels a strain in his pants; his conviction is wearing thin. It’s more of a “maybe” now, if anything.
His hand slides from your ankle to your knee, rubbing rough circles that purposely stray away from your sensitive parts. “Whatcha offering, doll?” Toji rasps.
“How’s twenty percent of what you got wrong sound?” Your toes create friction as they curl against his crotch, swaying back and forth. He doesn’t answer. He expects you to go on. “I was a big-time nerd. Got in college with a fully covered scholarship and all.”
His breath hitches as he moves closer to your thighs. “Expected that much.”
“And I did go on a lot of group dates. The girls wanted to meet guys whose names didn’t start and end with Gojo Satoru.” Your heel presses firmly onto his length. He’s big. You can’t tell exactly how big, but you know it won’t take long to have his cock plugged in one of your holes.
“And you didn’t?” Toji asks, rolling the plush flesh in his fingers like play-dough.
“I valued my precious dating shows a lot more.” You feel the stretch of his lips as they lay on your inner thigh, peppering kisses until the lower half of his face disappears past the layers of your dress.
“Seems to me I read ya like an open book,” Toji inhales deeply, growling a low “Shiiit, Y/N” when his nose nudges your dripping cunt, his jade eyes flickering shut while you shiver. You’ve never heard him use your name before—all pretense of respect in the form of his little Teach’s drops the second you start to rut your pussy into his face.
Before his hands can slip into your underwear, you prod him back onto his chair and get off the desk. His glare fades as soon as he watches you kneel in front of him and rest both your elbows on both sides of his knees.
“Skipping dates doesn’t mean I missed out on the experience.” Your smile drips with honey while you palm him on the way to unzipping his jeans.
You tug them down, and his hips wiggle to accommodate you. It’s a lot tougher than you thought, with the tight fabric stubbornly adhering to every muscle of his bulky thighs until it recedes. His boxers come down with greater ease, and your hand finally wraps around his cock, feeling his girth out in your open fist.
“I told you at the restaurant, but I really like you.” You give his length a slow stroke that has him sucking his teeth. “I’ve liked you since the moment I saw you barge into my classroom. I like you so much I think I can love you.”
Toji bends forward and pinches your chin between his thumb and his forefinger, tilting your head until his lips find yours—soft when they fumble around and rough when they part for his tongue to sneak into your mouth. Your delicate fingers insist on pumping his cock as he cups your cheek, ending the kiss with a playful bite across your bottom lip.
“I know,” he grins. “Heard ya talkin’ to that brat earlier.”
You would be shying away if it weren’t for his cock throbbing in your grasp, his swollen tip flushed with the exact same shade of feverish red as your cheeks.
“Eavesdropping isn’t so nice, Toji.”
“I’m not so nice either, but you overlook that.” Toji throws his head back, holding onto his breath, while you drool all over his cock head—clear strings of saliva streaming down the veiny shaft. “Y’know what’d be nice, hah—having that nice little mouth of yours wrapped around me.” Your hand drops to his balls, pink lips eager to fulfill his wish, with your cheeks barely hollowing around the tight fit. “So fucking nice,” he hisses.
His filthy praises are muffled out by his groans, which grow both in volume and in pitch the more inches you manage in your throat, his raspiness fading into the breathiest of moans once your nose tingles his unkempt base. You let go with a plop, air returning to your lungs through heavy pants. Your fists take over instead, appearing beyond puny as they struggle to engulf his hefty girth. Toji’s by far the biggest you’ve had; another of his assets you’re elated to discover.
You steal a lick from the precum that’s glazing his tip and purse your lips together. It’s a bit strong in flavor, but you don’t mind. It’s his.
“I meant everything I said,” you beam. “I still think of you as nice.”
“You’re bound to milk some kindness out of me if ya keep goin’ sweetheart.” Toji jokes, taking hold of his cock. He starts jerking himself to the sight of you, and you may have all your clothes on, but the way you genuinely smile at him, lips glossy from spit, almost sends him over the edge. “You’re so pretty,” he mumbles. “Even thought you were pretty in that—ugh, what was it?”
“Tunic?” You ask, recounting your first meeting.
“Yeah, right. That ridiculous grandma’s tunic you flaunted.” Raven strands flap over his forehead. “Wanted to rip that right off your body and fuck you on the spot.”
His words send pleasurable tingles throughout your body, with the pool in your panties overflowing your thighs. “What stopped you?” Your lips attach to his balls, your wet tongue lapping around until it finds a spot that has him fisting his cock at a faster pace, the tip rhythmically smacking your forehead.
Toji fails to gather his thoughts; his mind is solely focused on chasing after his incoming release. You feel his balls tighten and back away, setting your palms flat against your lap—eyes marveling at how the man who kept you tossing and turning in an empty bed for months on end is about to spill his load all over your face. A man whom you, up until a few hours ago, dreaded would reject you.
“You’re so fucking pretty,” he pants out. “Gonna make you even prettier. Gonna make you into my pretty girl—fuck, all mine.”
“All yours, Toji.” You repeat, lulling your tongue out. “Cum on my face, Toji. Please, gimme your cum.”
And it is that please that gets his cock to spurt his milky cum all over your lips and chin, with only a handful of his velvety ropes making it onto your tongue. He grunts, squeezing the final drops from the tip until it stops twitching. He wipes it clean against your lips and helps you to your feet, taking advantage of your imbalance to hold you by the waist.
“Is there something on my face?” You ask, seeing as Toji blatantly drills holes into your skull.
Heavy eyelashes flutter over his low-hooded eyes. A dark chuckle rings against your skin as his mouth presses against your jaw. “Aren’t ya cheeky?” He licks a portion of his cum off your chin and feeds it to your tongue, all nice and slow, in a heady kiss that brings your bodies closer to one another. Your cunt is still soaked, pulsing around nothing, and his cock is still rock-hard, throbbing against your stomach.
Holding turns into groping as Toji gives your ass a squeeze. “Better not fail Megumi from now on.”
Your teeth clash together as you break into a sudden cackle. “Someone might think you’re only doing this to secure his grades.”
“Among other reasons,” he states.
“Is this how you care for your son’s education?” You humor him. “By seducing his teacher?”
“Nah,” Toji pauses to tug at your dress’ strap. He’s going to have to unzip it if he wants to move things forward. “My kid’s plenty smart on his own. Besides, the teacher’s the one doin’ the seducing here.” He caresses your curves and smiles in triumph once he spots the zipper on the side. “Wouldn’t fuck ‘er if she’d let me go back to my car to jerk it like a responsible man would. Would’ve waited until the second date; buy her something good—you like flowers, right?”
You lift your arms for him to strip you. He leaves you to stand in your unmatched underwear, black lace on your tits, and white cotton around your hips. His tongue darts out, wetting his lower lip. “Is it too late to enroll?”
Your eyes perform a full circle. You almost shove his hands away from your bra when you realize it’s already off. He thumbs at your nipples with his palms cupped around your breasts, refusing to let an inch of your soft skin spill from his calloused, practiced fingers.
“I’m afraid you’re behind the rest of the class.” You go along with his game of role-play. “I’d have to give you private lessons.”
“Sign me up.”
Toji steps back to remove his shirt, undoing his buttons so quickly that you’re certain they’ll fly right off. He discards it on the floor, and you take stock of his physique, inevitably gaping at the jagged scars that span from below his left shoulder to the center of his torso. Your fingers carefully trail over them, as if the violence that caused them still lurks beneath.
So that’s what sustaining limitless leaves you with, you momentarily muse, before your sympathy dissolves into a quarter of a smile. You don’t want him to think you’re pitying him—because you aren’t. Both he and Satoru made their choices, and you refuse to be the judge of their decade-long feud.
His hands return to your waist, while yours meet behind his neck. You kiss again and again, the action of mouths stealing each other’s oxygen repeating until the edge of your desk digs into your lower back. His strong arms smother you like he’s never embraced another before; overwhelming you to the point where you’re moaning despite his cock not being in yet.
“Just so you know, this gonna be a regular thing.” Toji mutters, his green eyes confirming his sincerity in the way he pulls your thighs apart. He doesn’t think he’s never said that phrase before. It’s always the opposite.
He dips a hand into your panties, lathering his palm with your slick, and then strokes his dick. “Not ‘ere for the sex only.”
“You’re gonna stay over and buy me breakfast?” You entertain the idea.
“As long as convenience store Onigiri cuts it. A bit tight this month.” Toji leaves you some breathing space, kicking his pants off his ankles. “A’right. Turn around and arch that back for me.”
A wicked smirk rises on his scar as you face away from him. “I was hoping to fuck you on your little classroom desk, but this will do just fine. You can look back on it next time ya feel swamped with papers.”
“I won’t be able to get any work done!” You protest.
The aforementioned papers glue to your breasts when you prop yourself on your elbows. You glance over your shoulder, catching sight of Toji positioning himself between your legs. You feel him run his cock between your now-bare folds, your panties having dropped in a pool around your feet like tasteless anklets.
Toji kneads your ass with one hand, the other stroking himself along your clenching holes. “You can think of this as my confession.” He trails off as he drives his thick cock into your wet pussy, and he does it slowly enough for it not to hurt, but it’s him who ends up needing a good minute to adjust after he bottoms out.
He knows it’ll feel even better once he moves, but it already feels perfect as is. So warm; so tight; so good that he’s afraid he’ll lose composure and jackhammer into you until the desk legs break.
“Haven’t had such perfect pussy in ages.” Toji grunts, his nails digging sharp crescent moons into the fat of your ass.
He’s had his fair share of pretty girls with empty brains and tight cunts, but yours is something else. Yours, he wants it owned. He wants it to lull him to sleep every night, only to wake up the next morning to the mess you’ve made creaming around his cock all night long. He wants to make you into his personal cock warmer, and he nearly cringes at the thought, until he feels you pulse around him and realizes you probably want that too.
“Fuck me, T-Toji.” You stammer, pulling your body forward only to slam it back on his length.
That’s all he needs to get going. His hips mercilessly slap against your own while he drills his cock in and out with such vigor that he feels it kissing your cervix. The desk bangs hard against the wall, almost overpowering the sounds of your soft whimpers. He forces you to meet his tempo, using the leverage on your ass to cut down on the distance between his leaking head and your puffy cunt.
“‘member what I told ya when I first saw ya?” Toji slows down, his fingers reaching between your thighs to swipe at your clit while his hips switch to languid rolls.
“Y-You mean after you—fuck, put your shoes on my desk thinking it was Satoru’s?”
“Brings back memories, doesn’t it?” He huffs and brings your arm behind your back, pressing down on it. “Remember,” he mouths hot kisses down your nape and shoulder, his palm cupping your entire cunt while your walls flutter around him. “Remember how I said you’re too hot to be stuck ‘ere teaching brats manners?”
You fist at the table, desperately searching in your foggy mind for a memory you can’t seem to find or a place to grip, the only answer you can muster being, “You never said that.”
“I didn’t?” Toji flicks the sensitive nub upward. “Well, not every thought’s meant to be shared, mhm?”
He pops your dialogue bubble by nipping at your neck, his cock scratching an itch that has you writhing in pleasure.
“Shhh, baby.” He coos, the warm timbre in his voice soothing the shrill ringing in your head. “Promise I’ll be more vocal now on. Tell ya all about how good that sloppy pussy’s flooding me, or how gorgeous your cute face looks lighting up whenever ya see me.”
The flames in your stomach shoot up to your heart, beating so loud you swear it punctuates his every word.
“How many times was it?” He asks. “Eight PT meetings in two months? Or ten? Ya think I wouldn’t notice I was the only parent called?”
Your head droops forward. “Would’ve been eleven if you didn’t come today. Wanna see more of you, Toji. F-fuck, wanna see you all the time.”
“And you will,” he detaches from your neck and picks up his speed, keen on having you see starts with the way he thumbs your clit. “Gonna make you cum around my cock every day, sweetheart. Just call me and—ugh, I’ll come runnin’. No need for that PT crap.”
Your bitten lips do nothing to contain your unregulated cries as you tighten around him like a vice—the only coherent words among your long-drawn vowels being “I’m cumming, Toji!” that you scream at the top of your lungs.
Toji begrudgingly pulls out, letting you ride your high alone. If he stays in a second longer, he knows you’ll end up with a nine-month trouble that will escalate into a lifelong problem in the form of paychecks for him and test sheets for you.
He plops down on the chair to cool down for a moment, proudly admiring your stupefied expression, eyes blown out with sheer ecstasy, and lips gasping for air.
“Hey. Are you free tomorrow?”
Maybe you are worth the trouble.
The delightful buzzes in your head are replaced with a series of acute knocks against your door. You barely have time to locate your rug of a dress in the corner of the room and zip it up, hoping the fabric’s enough to keep the marks on your body out of your visitor’s field of view.
“Should’ve known,” you groan, wishing you'd shoved your head in the pillows and pretended you were missing—except, there's no hiding from him. You step outside and close the door with your back, folding your arms over your chest. “What brings you here, Satoru?”
“Mornin’ to you too, Y/N.” His mouth is full as he speaks, rice grains framing both sides of his lips. “How was your date?”
“It was…” you pause, focusing on the plastic convenience store bag he’s holding rather than his eyes, “good.”
“Good, huh?” He grimaces. He doesn’t have to tell you he was hoping it’d fail. “Anyway, came to drop these. Someone left them on your doorstep.”
You peer into the contents of the bag, full of onigiri in different flavors—two that are tuna mayo, two with shrimp tempura, two with salted salmon, and lastly, a spare pickled plum.
Your lips curl into a smile as you pick your favorite from the bunch. So that's your answer.
"Thanks, Satoru." He is surprised you didn't scold him, gladly taking his chance to leave before you speak again. "Wait."
"I was the one who stole your Manju."

"That girl has balls, am I right?" Legend says, striking up a conversation with Sky who hummed in agreement, "It's been a while since I've seen my Y/n but she's nothing like her, she would never lash out...But she can rip a god's arm off with her bare hands!" Sky smiles like it's a normal thing, Legend subtly shuffled away from Sky no longer wanting to be in a conversation now.
“So...Do all of you get along?" Twilight asked you which you nod, "Majority of the time but of course we get sick of each other eventually but we make up in the end, we're a team" You say which earned a hum from Time. "Teamwork is important, probably a bit more difficult with girls." You side eye him and frown.
You finally make it to the spot they found you in and it was what you expected...No dragon, you sigh and look around. "You sure she was here before?" "Yes, this is where we found you both" Wild says and you walk over to the sign that was dug into the ground, it had words you couldn't read so with a few tugs you took the sign out of the ground.
"Well...I can't read this but I'm sure one of the other girls can" You grin, You begin to walk off in a direction, "Well? C'mon!" The boys shared a few glances with each other and soon followed behind.
You all made it to the camp you and the rest were at but surprisingly it was empty...but there was one Y/n there.
LAY/n.
"Oh hey, I was just going to come find you" LAY/n says nonchalantly as she takes a bite out of her apple, she was resting on the nearby stump. She was wearing a dress with a corset dressed over the top of her waist. "Where are the others?" "HWY/n went to find them, I volunteered to stay here" She took another bite of her apple.
She finally looks behind you and tilts her head, "Who are they?" The boys stood stiff at her gaze, "Well, to put it in simple terms they are all Links but just like us they have different names to address themselves which they can tell you later." You say which earns a simple nod from LAY/n.
You hold up the sign and hold it up towards her, "Can you read this?" LAY/n squints her eyes as she looks over the foreign letters, "No, not my specialty but I'm sure if we find FSY/n she'll know" You huff at the mention of that Y/n...
"Well! Let's get to it! You said they were in the city-"
"No, I said HWY/n was in the city to try find the others"
"Which means they are in the city, so let's go!"
LAY/n huffs but nods, "Lead the way, sis"
POV CHANGE: Third person
The boys follow behind the two Y/n's, reminds them of their own Y/n's in a way but they can tell they have different personalities.
Once they made it into the city it was loud, bustling and full of people. Merchants trying to scam some buyers, people begging for spare rupees. BOTWY/n turns to the boys, "Be careful around here, we have a few thieves around these parts since it's busy it's the best time to steal when everyone is distracted."
"They aren't robbing much" Four sighs, LAY/n chuckled lightly at that. "Okay...Plan is to ask around if they've seen (H/c) haired women with (E/c) eyes" BOTWY/n says, "Wouldn't it be quicker if we split up?" Wild suggested, The y/n's look at each other as if having a silent conversation and they nod, "Yeah It would, We'll split into two groups, half of you go with her and other half go with me" BOTWY/n informs earning a nod of agreement from Time.
BOTWY/n team; Time, Wild, Twilight, Wind, Sky.
LAY/n team; Warriors, Legend, Hyrule, Four
(This chapter is going to have BOTWY/n's team)
POV CHANGE; Second person
"We'll regroup later, be careful." Time says as LAY/n and the boys walked off into a different direction. BOTWY/n was already looking around for clues, "Hmmm, If I was me where would me be..." You thought as you looked around.
"Ya sure we can rely on her? She doesn't seem like...the smartest of the bunch" Twilight whispered which made Wild turn to him, "I never said she was smart."
"Aha! I know! I'd be at a fancy cuisine eating anything I'd want!"
"Y/n...We're trying to find the others, stop thinking with your stomach" Wild teases, You grin, "Well, That's where I'd be if I needed to be found!" "Come, I'll buy you a snack and then we'll continue our search" Wild grabbed your hand and pulled you towards some stalls.
"Who wants to bet that they're dating~" Wind grins, "You have nothing to bet" Twilight chuckled, Sky looked over to Time who was staring at BOTWY/n and Wild, "You okay? You look like you miss a certain someone" Time turns to Sky with a slight confused gaze, "Pardon?" "Well it's just...You probably had a tough break up back in the day and maybe that's why you aren't as open because...You're afraid to get hurt again" Sky says remorsefully, it takes a few seconds for it to click into Time's head before he laughs out loud.
"You really expect that of me? My...I'm quite offended" Time joked, "No need to hide it, I'm sure we've all endured similar pain" Twilight sighs, "We understand why you were so secretive back there about your Y/n..." Sky says softly, Time has to put on his best poker face so he makes sure not to laugh. "Now, I didn't reveal who my Y/n was to me because it wasn't an appropriate time but if it will get you all off my back, My Y/n is my-"
"Hey! We're back!" You slurp up your noodles you got from a stand as Wild holds you by the waist. "My wallet has been damaged" Wild sighs which made Twilight laugh and pat his shoulder, "Have to make a sacrifice once in a while" Wild playfully shoves him away. Twilight stumbled back a bit hitting the wall behind him, a sound of paper crumbling caught his attention.
He turns around and looks at the paper.
‘Agoir city’s rodeo challenge!’ Twilight chuckled at the paper, “Hey look, they do rodeos, wouldn’t hurt to go check it out right?”
You take a look at the paper and nod, “Actually…There might be another one of me there! One of our Y/n’s in our group had experience with a bit of bull riding!” Times stare hardened.
“I’m sure I know which one. C’mon, Let’s go.”
They made it to the outskirts of Agoir city and spotted a pretty large group of men surrounding the rodeo arena, cheering and whistling.
“Sheesh, didn’t expect a massive crowd!” Wind chimes in as he looks around, “hm, keep your eyes peeled for…A (h/c) haired woman” you squint your eyes as you scan the area, “we could ask around if it’s easier” Sky suggested and you nod.
After a few minutes you all re-group you were greeted with a grumpy Wind, "Someone stole from me!" You raise a brow, "What did they steal?" "My wind waker!" "Wind what?" Wind groans and he crosses his arms over his chest, soon he begins to feel the wind pick up and he looks around...His eyes settle on a familiar figure.
His eyes sparkled as he watched the Y/n that looked around his age and was swaying around with the familiar baton in her hand. She hummed a little tune as Wind ran up behind her and tackled her to the ground, "Hey! Don't you have some decency?!" Wind chuckled as tried to grab his wind waker back from her, "Give it back thief!" Wind grins.
WWY/n giggled as she tried to keep it out of his reach, flailing around on the ground. "That's...3/9 Y/n's! including me and LAY/n" You smile proudly as the boys just stare at the younger ones with a soft expression, "Ugh! Okay I've had enough, get off!" WWY/n pokes the baton up his nose making him wince.
"Hey! Be nice, WWY/n" The little brat only pokes her tongue at you as she drops the wind waker baton and gets up, "You can't tell me what to do, You're not my mother!"
"A bit feisty that one" Twilight sighed as he scratched the back of his head, "That doesn't matter, who were you here with?" "Hah? What's that supposed to mean?" "It means what it means damn it!" You groan as you tug at your hair.
"Make sense!"
"I bloody do!"
"I'm telling you said that word!"
The bicker continues back and forth and Time looks between you two repeatedly before he grumbles, "Both of you, cut it out. Now." His voice was stern and he looked between the two, WWY/n crossed her arms over her chest, "Hmpf! You don't get to tell me what to do-" she pauses when she looks up at his face and sees his reaction which is...one of disapproval, she looked down trying to avoid his gaze.
"He's scary! Who the heck is that?!" WWY/n whispered to Wind who got up and smirked, "That's Time! We call him old man because...he's old!" "He certainly is old-" She peeks up to see his gaze was still on her, his expression unreadable. She didn't like it one bit.
"He gives me the creeps! I'm outta here!" WWY/n runs off, "Ah! Wait for me!" Wind chases after her.
"Hah! You'll be a great asset to our group, Time! She has a bit of a mouth so having someone like you who immediately shut her up is perfect!" You give Time a thumbs up which he only returned with a subtle nod.
"Poor man, scares off kids and women" Twilight whispers to Sky who sighs sadly for their older companion. "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that." Time huffed
"Hm...maybe there's another Y/n here-"
Soon a loud horn fills the air, catching the attention of many.
"Get ready folks! For our superstar of the day...OOTY/n!" Cheers filled the air, startling you lot, however. You lean against the fence and await for the show to start, the boys follow suit.
Soon the gates open and out comes the bull with the rider holding on tightly as the bull tries to buck it off but unlucky for the bull the rider wouldn't get off! The rider wore a set of pants/shorts and a plaited (f/c) shirt.
"Yee haw! I feel like a real cowgirl! Been a while since I've ridden something...I ain't just talking about animals either! Hah!" The rider was just talking to herself without paying attention to what really came out of her mouth.
"There she is!" You point as the bull was rising its front legs to the sky like how a horse does, she took her hat off and let out a laugh, Once the bull made it back down it started up its bucking again, running around wildly around the arena.
"How long do Rodeos last?" Time asked, looking down at you with a hint of concern, "No clue but hopefully not too long, We do wanna get out of here as soon as possible" You really weren't fussed about how long you'll be here for, Time on the other hand...
Soon the bull's bucking started to get tired from bucking and reluctantly slowed down so the rider, OOTY/n got off and walked around the arena. Soon her eyes finally settled on you, she smiles and walks over to you all.
"Hey! You lot alright?" OOTY/n asked, her motherly instincts kicked in, Twilight, Sky and Wild all responded with a bashful 'Yes ma'am' While Time was just glaring and frowning at the older Y/n. She caught on and raised a brow, "What's wrong, 'Fairy boy' I swear you always have that expression when it comes to me." She crosses her arms over her chest.
"You promised you'd take it easy"
"It's been months since!"
"You're still recovering, Get over this fence right now...Please."
"I will not!"
The bicker between the two were like two kids fighting, The boys, including you share a look between you all before Twilight clears his throat.
"I'm sure whatever you two are arguing about can be continued later but we really need to get our...friends back" Twilight persuades, the two older ones look at each other before looking over at him, that's when OOTY/n looks confused, "Where are the others? Didn't you re-group back at camp?"
"No, TPY/n and I got hunted on our way there, apparently I was wounded and TPY/n was nowhere to be seen so she must've ran to get help or something- While D/N stayed by my side" You give her this look that made her immediately understand.
"Later, I was found by my Link and I was brought back to a camp filled of other Link's and they were cooperative enough to help me and LTTPY/n to find the others!" You finish explaining, after a few seconds she nods, "Alright, I'm sure WWY/n is around here somewhere. If you've already seen her then great, go find her for me and I'll just finish up." She looks at Time who was about to speak up, "No objections." she points to him.
"Y/N!" Time still tried his luck but his call went unanswered. "Damn woman, I swear when we're alone...-" Time cleared his throat, "You heard the woman, Let's find the youngsters." Time begins to walk off, searching.
"Hah! So obedient to his Y/n" You snickered, whispering the the other three boys who chuckle in response.
After wandering around the place, making sure not to bump into anyone, you finally managed to see the blonde and (H/c) duo.
"There they are" Sky points out as you all walk over to the two who were currently trying to steal a group of mens rupees! "WWY/n!" You called out making her let out a little 'eep!' catching the attention of the men.
"Oi! Little brat, What are you trying to do with your hand near my pockets?" The mans voice was low and clearly he wasn't playing around.
"Well...You had a bug! I was trying to swat it off you!" WWY/n tried to lie but she was frightened by the stares the older men were giving her, "Hey! Back off, she did see a bug and she did try to swat it off you!" Wind defended WWY/n but when he looked up and really got a good look at the group he pauses.
"Two lying little brats, huh? You were trying to steal from me weren't you? I'll show you-" One of the men grabs her by her hair and lifts her up. Time lunges forward and was prepared to strike at the man until a angelic voice cuts in.
"Excuse me, but please put my child down, you are scaring her." OOTY/n was in her everyday (F/c) dress, a forced smile was on her face as she seemed, the men smiled and placed the WWY/n down. "Ah~ Such a pretty little thing you are, may I take you out sometime? We can get a drink...Or skip to the fun stuff-OOF!" OOTY/n punches him in his abdomen making him curl over and groan.
"What the hell was that for?!" He coughed out, "One for holding my child by the hair, two because I simply wanted to" She finishes him off with a kick to the face making him curl into a ball on the ground, OOTY/n helps WWY/n up and placed a hand behind Wind, "Are you two alright? We can get ice cream later" "REALLY?!" OOTY/n chuckle at the young duo's reaction and nods.
The two grew excited, OOTY/n smiles at the others, "So! Shall we head off now?" earning eager nods from the others, off they went.
To be continued...

The One With Mother’s Day
Eddie trips out of his room, rubbing at his eyes, to answer the door. Someone choosing nine in the morning on a Sunday to knock very loudly on their front door.
“Yeah,” he says blearily as the door swings open.
“Eddie, it’s so nice to see you again.” Karen Wheeler says from the other side of the door. “I remember Nancy saying that you moved in with her about a year ago.”
Eddie tries to blink the tired away. “Mrs. Wheeler, hello. Sorry, I didn’t know you were coming to visit.” He steps out of the way so she can enter the apartment.
She walks in and stands awkwardly in the walkway between the kitchen and the living room. “Well, I didn’t know I was coming here until this morning. Is Nancy home?”
“You drove all the way from Indiana to here, that’s quite the trip. And yeah, she’s probably up, hold on a second.”
“Well, it’s been forever since I visited Nancy, and I thought since it’s Mother’s Day, I might spend the day with my daughter. My other kids are either too busy with school or too far to drive so suddenly.”
“Yeah, uh huh,” Eddie mutters as he knocks on Nancy’s door. “Hey, Nance, you up?”
“Yeah, what’s up?”
Eddie looks back at Karen with a polite smile. “Could I come in for a second?”
“Sure,” Nancy responds suspiciously.
Eddie quickly opens and shuts the door behind him. “Your mother’s here.”
Nancy sits straighter in the chair by her window. Shutting her book and placing it on the small table beside her. “What. She didn’t tell me she was coming.”
“She apparently didn’t even know she was coming until this morning. It’s at least a five-hour drive from home.”
“She got up at four in the morning just to come visit me. Why?”
Eddie shrugs. “Something about Mother’s Day and her other kids being too busy or something. I don’t know. She looked, ok? Like every other time I’ve seen her. But like, with that crazed fluster she would get when Mike’s friends were over, and your dad refused to get off of that lazy boy he had.”
Nancy rolls her eyes. “This could go one of two ways, and I’m not sure either of them will be good.”
She gets up and heads to the living room. Where her mother still stands, hands rubbing together anxiously. “Nancy, I’m sorry to show up out of the blue, I didn’t want to wake you up in the middle of the night with a phone call.”
“That’s ok,” Nancy says with a partially fake smile, giving her mom a hug. “Eddie said you just drove here this morning, you must have left pretty early.”
Karen shrugs. “Yeah, well, you leave early enough, you miss all of the traffic. And the highways are so nice to drive on when no ones around. But, anyway, how are you doing, it’s been a while since we talked.”
“Pretty good. Just working a lot, trying to be able to write something other than stupid tabloids and junk articles. But mom-.”
Eddie groans in the kitchen, opening the empty coffee container. “I’m going to rob Steve and Robin’s for coffee.”
“Ok,” Nancy replies as he shuts the door.
“Steve and Robin still live across the hall,” Karen smiles. “That’s so nice. Do Jonathan and his college friend still live across the street?”
“Argyle,” she reminds. “And yes, they do. Mom-.”
Karen claps her hands. “Oh, I am starving. Why don’t we go out to breakfast? You know, catch up, my treat.”
“It’s Mother’s Day, shouldn’t it be my treat?” Nancy eyes her mother skeptically. Wondering why she really showed up out of nowhere. Got up in the middle of the night just to have a surprise visit.
“Just spending the day with me would be a treat. Go on, get ready, I’ll just wait out here.”
Nancy nods and returns to her room.
-
When Eddie uses his spare key to go into Steve and Robin’s apartment, he expects them both to be asleep. Robin never gets up before noon if she doesn’t have to, and Steve always has the weekends off, so he should be relaxing. Instead, Steve’s sitting in the kitchen, phone pressed to his ear and fingers pinching his nose, pushing his glasses up to his forehead. He barely notices when Eddie enters the apartment.
“No mom, I haven’t seen her since college.” Steve sounds utterly exhausted. “Because we never really talked then either other than that time you came to visit me. Maybe because I’m happy being single. It’s a perfectly respectable job, and I love it. I didn’t want to work with dad.” He sighs as his mom drones on about something. “I didn’t call for this, I called to wish you a happy Mother’s Day. You know, it’s late where you are so how about I let you go. Love you.”
Steve hangs up the phone, placing it face down on the table and letting his head fall into his hands. He stays like that, frozen.
“That didn’t sound fun,” Eddie breaks the silence. Spooning a serving of coffee into a plastic bag.
Steve huffs out a laugh, fixing the glasses on his face and sitting back on the chair. Crossing his arms and shaking his head, avoiding eye contact. “Oh you know, just normal chats with my mother. She can’t go one conversation without trying to set me up with some rich family’s daughter she knows.”
Eddie winces. “Never a nice rich boy in that mix.”
The glare Steve gives Eddie is tired and chilling. “What do you think?”
“I’m sorry.” Eddie sits across from Steve. “Sounds like it sucks.”
“Yeah, it does.” Steve sighs, looking at his phone. “I love my parents, I really do. But sometimes it’s hard to. Especially when they keep trying to set me up with people I don’t even know or get me to change careers. I just wished they respected me more than they did.”
“They should, you have a job you love and so what if you’re single. That’s a pretty great deal if you ask me.”
Eddie’s phone dings.
Nancy: Me and my mom are going out for breakfast
Eddie: Cool, have fun
Nancy: I will try
“If it makes you feel any better, Nancy’s mom showed up unannounced and now they’re going out to breakfast.”
Steve’s eyes widen. “Like she drove here this morning?” Eddie nods in confirmation. “That’s not good.”
“Yeah, I know. Still don’t know why she’s here.” Eddie’s stomach rumbles. “God, I’m starving.”
“I haven’t eaten yet, you want to go get something? Unless you have somewhere else to be.”
Eddie smiles. “I do not. Let me get changed, I’ll meet you in five.”
-
Nancy thanks their waiter when he brings them their food. Silently piercing the yolk of her egg and watching it run over to her hashbrowns. Karen talking for the both of them.
“Have you talked to your brother recently? Him and Will are settling in well over in New York, their place looks nice. Small, but nice. I’ll have to take a trip out there some time to visit them.”
She just nods along to her mother’s ramblings. Watching as she pauses to take a bite and just continues. Always dodging around the subject of why she’s here whenever Nancy tries to ask.
“It’s so nice that they’re still together after all these years. Not that being alone is anything bad. I miss the single life. Well, I never really had that much of a single life. I met your father in high school and that was that. Part of me wishes I had a few years to explore, like you did. Get to live life before having a family.”
“Yeah,” Nancy interrupts. Coldly. “Why are you here mom?”
Karen looks taken aback. “Is it wrong to visit my daughter?”
“No, it’s not. But you’ve never just drove here on a whim. There was always at least a phone call, booking a hotel stay. Not waking up at four in the morning one night and deciding to drive five hours to come visit me.” Nancy softens her face. “This isn’t like you, what’s going on?”
Karens mouth twitches as she places down her silverware. Fiddling with her napkin. “You know how it was you father’s and my anniversary last week.”
Nancy nods, listening.
“Well, he forgot, again, and I didn’t want to make the plans again this year. I wanted him to surprise me like he did when we were young. With none of the kids in the house anymore, it gets kinda lonely me and him. When I asked that morning, he scrambled to make plans but couldn’t get a reservation anywhere until last night. Where we basically had a silent meal, paid, and left. No surprises, no anything.”
“I’m sorry, mom. I know how dad can be with the romantic stuff.”
Karen sighs. “Any stuff. If it wasn’t me doing everything, nothing would get done. We haven’t even slept in the same bed since Mike went off to college, and that was years ago. I thought maybe we could try and rebuild what we had. Guess I was wrong.”
Nancy frowns. “I didn’t know that.”
“How could you? You never really came home once you graduated, on to bigger and better things. Not that I blame you, I am so proud of you and the life you’ve built here. I just, didn’t want to bore you with the problems in my life. In my marriage.”
“You could have. I would have listened.”
“I appreciate that.” Karens pauses, closing her eyes. “I’ve decided to leave your dad, Nancy. That’s why I came out to visit you.”
Nancy can’t say she’s surprised. “I’m sorry, mom.”
“Don’t be. I haven’t been happy in years, we all knew it was coming. I just don’t know what I’m going to do now.”
“Whatever you want,” Nancy smiles. “You get to do whatever you want. Go back to school, get a shitty part time job. Get back out there and find a man you deserve. Find new friends, anything. You get to build a new life.”
Karen smiles, tears shining her eyes. “Well, that’s all true, I guess. Thank you for not judging me for this.”
“I never would.” Nancy goes back to her breakfast. “So, what else would you like to do while you’re in town. I have tomorrow off too.”
“I don’t know. But I am excited to find out.”

Shared Nightmare
» Pairings/Characters:
GN!Reader × Jin Kamurai.
» Contents/Warnings:
Kind of angst. Nightmares and mental illness. Implied CSA from the past on the readers part. Also hints that Jin watched his mom commit suicide. Touchy feely. Jin might be OOC idk, let me live my fantasy. Hurt Comfort kind of thing. OMG they're sharing a bed, so scandalous!!! Uhmmm, idk what else. Enjoy I'm sleep deprived homie (and desperately want Jin). ||EDIT: Hello humans I'm finally rewriting this because I am not letting a bunch of people read this and like it when it's horrible||
Fog.
Everything was fogged. A black endless pool of nothing and the smallest bit of fog stretching on forever. Despite the seemingly harmless scene, my anxiety spiked. My heart pumped hard making my ears ring as I looked around frantically.
No. Please no—
That familiar feeling crept up my throat, suffocating acidic sensation of panic. Head to toe my body burned, not like a fire, but like the closest of ice. Everything felt wrong. I knew why. Of course I did, I knew this scene very well infact. Which is why I was begging the inky darkness to spare me, to let me dream of something I knew I couldn't have tonight.
The warmth of tears slid down my cheek and I turned on my heel and ran, ran as if something was coming to kill me right in that moment, like a scary monster was hidden in the darkness.
There was a monster hidden.
And it was going to catch me no matter how far I ran, how much I begged, no matter what it would catch me. It couldn't be stopped.
The faster I ran the more I could see.
The house.
Oh God, the house. Not this place, not tonight please.
Within a matter of second I hear that laugh.
That fucking laugh.
Clear. Closer.
Not again.
Closer. Clearer.
Please.
I busted the front door open and ran to the bedroom, knowing that I wouldn't be safe. I never will be, but I try anyways. I froze in the room, not sure where to hide.
That pause costed me everything.
Those fucking hands, touching my skin.
It felt like how a vile rotting corpse smelled.
This has to be what death felt like. Nothing else can explain this suffering.
The sobs shook my body as I knew I couldn't do anything, nothing, fucking nothing.
I was that small child again, my childhood pajamas, the color I use to love that I now hate burned my eyes. No, the tears are what burned. Invisible scars were left as the tears slipped down my childhood face.
That voice pierced my ears, clawing my brain the way a bear would when threatened.
I wanted to scream, yell for my guardian— for anyone really.
I was turned around and I shut my eyes. I refused to remember that face.
I don't want to, please.
Every touch felt like a part of my soul was stolen, all of it was robbing me.
The bed, the one I use to feel safe in now turned into my biggest fear, was now touching my back.
If I could scream, or fight, or anything.
No.
No.
NO.
NONO
NONONO
NONONONO—
"NO!!"
I felt arms wrap around my cold sweaty body, I started to struggle against them until I heard his voice. It was thick, sleepy, and scared. Jin.
"I'm here."
The arms squeezed me closer and I felt the trembles. I sucked in a shaky breath, trying to not cry as I whispered back, "I'm here."
I cringed ever so slightly at the rawness of my voice, his face was buried into my back. If I was a fool I would have never noticed the small trembles in his arms as he held me. I shut my eyes as I took one last deep breath. Looks like we both had a nightmare this time.
I gently turned around and held him close to my chest. Frosthiem was always too cold to have crickets, but the wind replaced that sound at night. I had gotten Jin a wind chime not too long after meeting him, we had a small struggle putting it up in the window, it was gently playing it's song now. I shut my eyes and buried my head into his hair, that cold fresh smell of his shampoo grounding me further.
"Was it...about her?" I muttered softly against his head, my fingers gently scratching his scalp.
He nodded gently before his thick scratchy voice spoke, "I woke up before you. Same one tonight?"
I nodded against his head. His strong arms squeezed me tightly before he rolled over onto his back, eyes closed and arm over his face. I shifted to lay on his bare chest, his heartbeat slowed the longer we laid there. His hand traced small circles across my back and arm in a soft gentle motion, betraying how he acted any other time.
I knew he only acted like he was so high above me and he only wanted me around as a servant, he couldn't bring himself to love me fully without some sort of barrier. But moments like these, only the two of us would know, we let the acts fall and just... Were.
Nothing special. Nothing dramatic. No expectations. Just us. Real us. Nothing more nothing less.
The softest, almost timid sounding words fell from his lips, "I love you..."
My heart throbbed and my anxiety left fully as I mumbled against his chest, "I love you."
He gently used his finger to tilt my head up, his eyes raw and puffy, the softest and most beautiful facial expression on display for me. Only me.
His eyes said a million words he couldn't say verbally, promises he knew he couldn't keep, and pleas only I could understand.
My fingers grazed his cheek, his eyes fluttering closed at the action. I leaned in and pressed my lips against his softly and he returned the favor.
In this cruel nightmare, we have each other.

Until the End (Levi x Reader)- Chapter 1
[The Girl that wanted to fly]
_____
A/N: Posted on Wattpad (@CLARE_875) but also decided to post here :) The image above does NOT belong to me
Summary:
"You can push me away, but I will still fight by you, and I will still follow you… until the end."
The ever-so-stoic Levi Ackerman has only ever known the terrors that living in a cruel world could bring. This all changed one fateful day when he encountered [y/n]; a girl renowned for her looks and abnormal speed. As they escape the confines of the Underground together, they soon discover that freedom doesn't come easy in a world full of Titans. As they rise through the ranks, [y/n] becomes known as "Humanity's Angel", a beacon of hope to humanity as she melts the walls Levi had built around his heart. However, she has her secrets too, and a dark past that might just threaten to pull them apart.
The storyline and characters of Attack on Titan do NOT belong to me, but all to Hajime Isayama; however, I do own this story, and all that occurs disparate to that storyline.
[Series Masterlist] [Prologue] <--> [Chapter Two]
_____
Warnings: Some descriptions of Sexual Harassment
You sat, cleaning your ODM gear, covered with the grime from today's heist. Ever since you, Levi and Furlan had gotten your hands on the gear, everyday struggles were made so much easier. You could fly swiftly throughout the streets, far gone before people noticed that they had been robbed and too fast for those who noticed. It had been many years since your encounter with Levi, and as time passed, the trust between you grew along with your group. The both of you had met Furlan a few years prior, and though initially wary of a new face amongst you, it was soon forgotten as his natural charm and loyalty made him very easy to trust and befriend. Since then, everything has been history.
You and Furlan had a friendship that resembled a sibling relationship; you often bickered with each other but you trusted him with your life, and he was often overly protective. Sometimes to the point where it was irritating how he would always cover you in dangerous situations. It wasn't rare the number of times you had to reassure him that you were stronger than you looked. Though Levi often found your friendship loud and obnoxious, he also seemed to find it in him to trust in Furlan as he had slowly learnt to do with you. Soon, your little criminal gang seemed invisible and became famous in the Underground. "Tch," you turned and looked to Levi, who seemed to glare at the filth that permanently shrouded the table he sat at, tea forgotten as he muttered to himself about the filth that came with living in the Underground and a multitude of diseases, we could all get. Furlan was currently sorting the money we had gathered from today's heist, and both Levi and you noticed how he had given a much larger amount to Yan.
"You're too nice for your good, you know; you're not gonna have any money left for yourself if you keep giving it away so freely," you say to Furlan after Yan, and the others leave. He smiles down at you regretfully but with a sure look in his eyes. "Medicine's getting more expensive around here, and Yan's leg's getting worse. It's all I could do to give him a little more money." Furlan pats your head and looks outside the building that had been home to us for so long. "Still, I wonder how much more we'll need to get out of this dump." As Furlan wondered aloud the impossible task we had set ourselves, Levi meets your eyes briefly.
A familiar glance is exchanged as you recall your conversations about the dream of escaping the Underground. You had spent many spare moments, even before meeting Furlan, talking in the dark, you excitedly proclaiming all the things you would see and do above ground, and Levi speaking of the freshness the air would bring away from the grime of this place. They were some of your fondest memories, but they were still bittersweet as you both knew the task of getting the money required to get two, let alone three, people out of the Underground was everlasting. You give the raven-haired man a sparing smile as his usually stern eyes seem to briefly soften as he looks to you knowingly. However, before any words could be exchanged, you were interrupted by the slam of the door.
Suddenly, all three of you are up on your feet, knives drawn defensively as we look for the source of the noise; for any threat. Levi moves in front of you protectively as Furlan reaches for the door. However, when he cautiously opens the door, you are met with only a mess of auburn hair that lies at the feet of the entrance. "Huh? It's only a kid," he proclaims, looking down and meeting a pair of wide emerald eyes, narrowing at his proclamation. "I'm not a kid," the unknown girl huffs, standing to her feet. But indeed, by her appearance, she appeared young, pigtails swaying as she frowned. However, that's when you noticed she had been clutching something to her chest, protecting something despite it causing her to land face-first through our doorway. You move past Levi, who lets you do so once he figures that there is no threat after all. You look over at her hands leaning in.
"Hey, what's that you've got there?" You smile up at her gently, contrasting the still, weary glare of Levi as he looks at where we stand. She looks up at you, eyes widening at bright, kind [e/c] eyes, something she had rarely seen in such a dark place. She grins back at you, slightly battered hands clutched against her stomach. Just as she was about to open her mouth to say something, you were interrupted by noise approaching you again. Suddenly on high alert as muffled voices approach you, the boys push you behind them once again as you stand with the girl and realise that she had been followed.
"What's the plan?" Furlan asks Levi as they hear irritated voices muttering vulgar things. "Hey, any of you seen a filthy urchin come through here?" The girl's pursuers shout out to Levi and Furlan, who stand on either side of the doorway. "Yeah, sounds like every kid in this neighbourhood," Furlan states mockingly as he stares down the three men sharply. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop their pursuit as they come closer to the doorway, the men proclaiming how we must be the local thugs. "You're the thugs," you hear Farlan mutter, and you couldn't agree more. The filth of their appearance and disgusting intentions make you narrow your eyes as they seem like the type of men you see too often here in the Underground. However, as the man's eyes wander past Levi and Furlan, they find the girl who stands behind you.
"Hey, I found her," the man shouted to his two companions, but as their eyes looked up to meet yours, their smiles only widened. "And, lookie here, we found the gem of the Underground as well, lucky us." You frown further in disgust at the way they look at you as if trying to undress you with their eyes, but you stand strong, not breaking eye contact. At his words, both Furlan and Levi stood tense; you could see them restraining themselves from killing them right there, right now.
"Now, hand her over, and we'll be on our way. Girl tried to get past stair eleven without paying our fee understand? Now, she might have botched her attempt, but we're still not through with making an example out of her." They glared up at the girl who stood still, saying nothing as Levi and Furlan looked slightly surprised at their claim. "Now, if you guys shelter her, we'll have to do the same for you." The man looks up at you, grinning. "Though I wouldn't mind punishing you, sweetheart," You roll your eyes at his pathetic form, but before you can say anything, he is moving forward. "I'll just take her then if you don't mind," he goes to move past Levi, but by misfortune or mere stupidity, he places a hand on Levi.
Not even a second passed, and Levi had his knife in the air, already smeared with blood as the man was beaten ruthlessly. "Keep your filthy hands off of me. I don't need your filth smudging my shirt." Levi brings the man up by his shirt, glaring simply at his form, "And if you ever look at her like that again, I can promise you, you'll no longer be able to see anything with your shitty eyes " Levi kicks the man down the stairs from our doorway. Furlan grins stiffly, "Sorry about that, but we're clean freaks here; you probably shouldn't come back, but if you do, be sure to wash your hands." Levi stands, already wiping the blood and grime off his knife, as the men curse under their breath, walking off when they realise that they really weren't any match for Levi, let alone the three of us.
You turned your attention back to the girl who still stood next to you, staring in shock at Levi as he stood irritably by the doorway. You noticed her hands were still clutched to her chest; small movements enclosed within her grasp. "You know, whatever you're holding, you might wanna give it some air to breathe," you say gently, bringing her out of her stillness as she meets your eyes again. She blushes slightly under your warm gaze as she gasps, realizing she needs to open her hands. "Oh, uh, I was just trying to keep it warm," she grins, showing the three of us a small bird. "Wait, why do you have a bird?" Furlan asks, it was an uncommon sight but not unheard of to see wildlife, unfortunately, make their way down to the Underground. The girl goes on to explain how she had found it, hoping to get it back to the surface, thus leading to her trying to break through one of the stair tolls. "You did all of that, for a bird?" Furlan looks at her, bewildered by all the trouble a small girl would go through for an insignificant life that struggled on much like the rest of us.
"He hasn't been flying. I'm sure he'd rather do it under the sun than stuck down here," the girl explains as though it were the most logical thing in the world. "Hmm, you're not wrong, but it kinda looks there like its wings are hurt," you say to her, noticing the odd way the bird lay its wings by its body. "What?" the girl glances down and realizes that you might be right, as Furlan nods at your observation.
.....
"Wow, you are good at that," the girl exclaims as you find yourselves seated, Furlan having wrapped the bird's wings in a makeshift bandage. Her eyes shimmered in the dark haze of the world around us, too innocent and too cheerful you think, as you wonder how she has made it through so much of her life, and maintained her positive outlook. Or maybe she's like all of us, like the bird, like me, we all want our freedoms, we suffer silently and we hope dangerously.
Your thoughts are broken by another one of the girl's exclamations, "My name's Isabel, what's yours," she grins as she looks at the three of us. "Oh, well, I'm Furlan," Furlan states, giving her a slight smile. "I'm [y/n]," you say with a soft glance, "and this is Levi," you grin as you gesture towards him, and he gives Isabel his signature blank look. "Cool," Isabel states, "Levi and [y/n] huh? I think I'll call you 'big bro' and 'big sis,'" she grins at the two of us, eyes flickering in the dimly lit room. You glance at Levi and give him a shrug as he rolls his eyes at you. "I want in!" she shouts suddenly, causing Levi to stiffen, "You guys have the ODM gear, right? I've seen you flying around, as free as birds! Please let me fly too!" Freedom, that word again. You remember back to the first time you had tried the ODM gear, the feeling of being weightless, but powerful and in control. In a world so barren, so hopeless, was that freedom?
"Well?" she stares, gaze unfaltering at Levi. You give him a soft smile as he sighs slightly. "If you're gonna stay, you first learn how to clean." If possible, her smile grows wider as she thanks Levi profusely and hugs you out of excitement. Levi frowned, irritated, muttering something about how now she was just spreading her filth onto you, but you just smiled at her. Isabel looks at you, awestruck at your genuineness but you can't find yourself stopping, something told you this was the beginning of a new friendship.
.....
Many days passed after that. You all showed Isabel how to use the ODM gear, which inevitably turned out to be quite the hassle, but over time, she learned how to use it enough to pass by. With the flying lessons came the cleaning lessons, those of which she seemed to enjoy significantly less. All you could do was smile and laugh at Levi's cleaning attire mixed with his stoic gaze and stare amusedly at Isabel's glare as she cleaned with you all. You ate, and you laughed, you flew, and you shared your stories. You embraced the fleeting feeling of freedom together.
Soon, it was time to free the bird that had since been nursed back to health and you found a rare opening to the sunlight. Levi turns to you seeing how you bask in the sunlight, [s/c] skin and [h/c] hair shimmering under the lights. His cheeks turned a slight pink at your soft smile but you decided not to say anything about it; he seemed to embrace a brief happiness surrounded by his makeshift family. You watched as a lone feather fell to the floor and the bird took flight, reaching the skies above us, and you let yourself hope, just slightly, yet so stupidly, that these moments, with the four of you, would last forever.

Adorably Naive – Timothy McGee
McGee's POV
"Where is that warrant?!" Gibbs yelled, quickly losing his patience.
"Someone from legal should be. . ."
"I'm here!" Y/N ran into the squad room. "I got you a warrant for their house, garage, cars, and DNA. I wasn't sure if you wanted it for DNA but figured better safe than sorry."
Y/N jumped when Gibbs quickly pulled it out of her hand and headed to the elevator. DiNozzo and Bishop quickly followed him.
"Good work, Y/L/N," I said softly. "I know Gibbs doesn't say it out loud but he appreciates you and everything you do."
"McGee!" Gibbs yelled from the elevator.
"You better get going," she said, nodding towards the team. My stomach sank when she wrapped her arms around herself and walked back to her office. I grabbed my gear and ran to the elevator.
Thanks to Y/N's warrant, we found the murder weapon and were one step closer to arresting the murderer. I walked into the squad room and tossed my backpack on the ground.
"How'd it go?" Y/N asked.
"Good," I said, instantly smiling. "We got everything we needed. Even found the murder weapon in the car under the spare tire. Oh! And thanks to the DNA you added in, we tied him to a convenience store robbery from three years ago."
"That's good," she said as she reached up and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Yep," I chuckled. "Thanks to you."
"I have to be honest, Agent McGee," she said, suddenly looking away from me, "sometimes I feel like I don't do much here."
"Because Gibbs doesn't trust lawyers?" I laughed. I stopped laughing when I saw the look on her face. "I didn't mean. . ."
"I have work to do," she said quickly as she wrapped her arms around herself and walked away.
"But Y/N," I called after her. "I wasn't laughing at you. I was just. . ."
"Wow," DiNozzo elongated behind me. I turned around and was instantly greeted by his smirk.
"What?" I sighed.
"That poor girl." He shook his head and walked away. "We got a lead, McClueless. Let's go."
"I didn't mean anything by it," I mumbled to myself as I grabbed my gear and headed to the elevator.
"That's not what I meant, McNieve," DiNozzo said as we stepped into the elevator.
"Then what did you mean?" I sighed, quickly losing my patience.
He leaned in and whispered, "You really don't see it?"
"See what?" I asked slowly.
"He doesn't see it," Bishop laughed to herself.
"What. . ."
"When you three middle schoolers are done," Gibbs sighed, "we have a killer to catch."
The elevator stopped on the bottom floor, the doors opened, and Dinozzo and Bishop stepped out. Before leaving the elevator, Gibbs mumbled, "Everyone sees it but you, McGee. You might want to try looking for it."
"I don't even know what 'it' is," I mumbled.
* * * * *
Throughout the case, I kept thinking about the look on Y/N's face. I wasn't laughing at the fact that she thought she didn't do much around the office. I was laughing because of all she does to help us. We wouldn't be able to make any arrests if it wasn't for her.
After we found what we needed and arrested our suspect, we headed back to NCIS. I walked into the squad room and saw Abby bouncing up and down on her toes.
"Are you going to say yes?!" Abby squealed.
"Yes to what?" I couldn't help but ask.
"You know that new agent? Agent Dwayne Wilson?"
"Abby," Y/N whispered.
"He's the one who helped us on the case where the guys robbed a bank to cover up killing another guy's dad," I said slowly. "But why would you be saying yes to him?"
"Well, the thing is he. . ."
"He asked her out!!" Abby squealed extra loudly.
"Who asked who out?" DiNozzo asked, joining the conversation.
"Agent Dwayne Wilson asked Y/N out to dinner," Abby giggled like a schoolgirl.
"Way to go, Dwayne," DiNozzo chuckled.
"He's cute!" Bishop giggled as she walked over to the girls.
"Make sure he treats you right, Y/L/N," DiNozzo smirked. "If he doesn't, let us know and we'll kick his ass."
"You don't need to get kick anyone's ass," Y/N said with a small laugh.
"Still," Bishop shrugged. "We'll do it. Right, McGee?"
"Of course," I stuttered, unable to look away from Y/N who was avoiding me.
"Do we have to talk about this?" Y/N asked, her voice soft. "I don't even know if. . ."
Y/N paused when she finally looked at me and our eyes met. The tension between us all of a sudden changed. She cleared her throat and quickly looked away.
"I don't know if I'm going to say yes," she said, her voice changing. "And I really don't want to talk about it with you guys."
DiNozzo and Bishop walked over to me as soon as Y/N walked away. Abby chased after her.
"What?" I asked.
"You're an idiot," DiNozzo said before walking to his desk.
"What is he referring to?" I asked Bishop.
"He's referring to the fact that you're an idiot," she shrugged as she ran and caught up with Y/N.
"How am I being an idiot?!" I asked even though neither one of them was listening anymore. I gasped when Gibbs walked up and hit me across the back of the head. "Boss, what was that for?"
"It was for being naive, McGee," Gibbs said simply.
"Naive. . ."
Gibbs looked over my shoulder and I followed his eyes to see him staring at Y/N talking to Abby and Bishop. I turned back to him and asked, "Y/N? What am I. . ."
"Don't waste time, Tim," Gibbs said, his tone slightly changing. "You never know how much you have."
Gibbs went to his desk and I sat there, watching as Y/N, Abby, and Bishop headed toward her office. I sat at my desk and thought about Y/N. We met when I went down to the legal department to get a search warrant. I bumped into Y/N and made her spill the files in her hand. I spent twenty minutes helping her organize the mess. Whenever we need a warrant, I always go to Y/N. She usually delivers it to us instead of emailing or calling us, telling us that it's ready.
I spent the rest of the day thinking about Y/N. I had reports to fill out but I focused on Y/N. To be honest, she was the only lawyer I trusted. She made me ignore Gibbs's rule about not trusting lawyers.
Eventually, everyone went home. I slowly started packing up my stuff but froze when I saw Y/N heading towards the elevator. As she hit the button, I heard Gibbs's voice in my head.
"Don't waste time, Tim. You never know how much you have."
As soon as the doors opened, I ran to catch up to her. I heard Y/N gasp when I slipped through the elevator doors as they closed.
"Agent McGee," she said, still surprised. "Are you. . . You're really in a rush to go home, huh?"
"What?" I stuttered. "No. I was just. . ." When I couldn't think of anything to say, I reached over and hit the elevator button.
"Tim," Y/N said slowly, "what are you doing?"
"I need to talk to you."
"Okay," she said, her voice shaky. "It's just. . . I don't do well in confined places for long. My claustrophobia kicks in and it gets hard to breathe."
"Oh," I gasped. I quickly turned and flipped the elevator back on. "I'm sorry, Y/N. I didn't know."
I held my breath and waited as Y/N caught hers. She looked at me and let out a small giggle when she saw the look on my face.
"We can still talk," she chuckled.
"Are you sure?" I asked softly.
"As long as the elevator is moving, I'm fine," she said, smiling weakly at me. "So, you wanted to talk?"
"Everyone keeps telling me I'm being naive," I started before I could rethink this. "I have been searching through every part of my brain to figure out why I was being naive and what I was missing. The only hint my team has given me is you."
"Me?" Y/N stuttered. Just then, the elevator doors opened. I grabbed her hand and led her out of the office and to the coffee chart. Instead of ordering, we sat down on a nearby bench.
"What am I missing, Y/N?" I asked her. "Please tell me what it is."
"It's kinda. . . I mean. . . It's complicated," she finally got out.
"How so?"
"Because," she hesitated, "if you don't feel the same then it's going to make things horribly awkward."
It took me longer than I would like to admit to figure out what it was that I was being naive about.
"Oh," I whispered.
"See?" She said, forcing a laugh. "Now it's horribly awkward."
She started to get up, but I grabbed her hand and stopped her. She still didn't look at me until I said, "I didn't say that I don't feel the same."
"You. . ."
I leaned in and gently pressed my lips to hers. I broke the kiss before she could begin to kiss me back.
"I'm sorry I was so naive," I whispered, our faces inches apart. I finally noticed the blush on her face as she tried to wrap her head around everything.
"It's okay," she whispered. "It's kind of adorable when you're naive."

The Kneeling Queen, ch 7 - Aemond Targaryen x OC
Read on AO3
Summary: Aemond Targaryen and Maelessa Velaryon were childhood lovers. They were each other’s only comfort in a world full of darkness. When they grew up, their love blossomed until they were the only thing the other cared about. Their lives get increasingly complicated due to the fact that they’re supposed to be on opposite sides of the war. Will their love survive or will it burn to ash as the war ensues?
Chapter warnings: Angsty angst, mentions of mutilation, mentions of miscarriage, no Aemond in this chapter
Chapter 7: Dragonstone
The storm had passed and it was daylight when the Blood Wyrm landed on the beach on Dragonstone. Maelessa hopped off before the two men behind her and stomped angrily all the way up all the endless steps to the castle, barefoot and still wearing only her silk robe that she slept in. She found her mother in the room of the painted table when she entered. The queen gasped and ran toward her, pulling her into a tight embrace. Maelessa pouted but wrapped her arms around her mother’s waist, hugging her back. They had both lost Luke, and this embrace was them grieving together. The queen was thinner than she had been last time Maelessa saw her, meaning she had given birth. She pulled back.
“Where’s Visenya?” she asked. Rhaenyra’s face contorted into another sob, and she realised the horrible truth. There was no little sister, they had lost the baby. “Oh mum I’m so sorry,” she said, throwing her arms around her mother again. Her rage subsided, if only temporarily. Rhaenyra wiped her tears and they broke the hug.
“I’m so relieved to have you home again, Lessa. I’ve lost so much. My father, my throne, my babe and now my son. I couldn’t bear not knowing how you were, if you were safe. And knowing you were with him, I just couldn’t-”
“I grieve with you, mother… But did you not think of me? You robbed me of my only comfort by taking me from my bed in my home and bringing me back here,” Maelessa said and tears stung her eyes once more. Rhaenyra snorted through her tears.
“Your comfort? Surely you don’t mean Aemond? He murdered your brother in cold blood! How could you not think we would come rescue you from him?” she exclaimed, throwing her arms out to her sides. Maelessa was outraged at the words. Of course that’s what she would think. All she saw when she looked at Aemond was a one eyed monster. She didn’t know him like Maelessa did, she couldn’t see all the hurt he buried underneath the facade, all the love he bore in his heart but didn’t let anyone but Maelessa see.
“That’s a lie!” she exclaimed. “Luke’s death was an accident!”
“Is that what he told you? And you actually believed him!?”
“Of course I believe him! You should have seen the state of him, mother. He burst through my doors and fell to his knees in front of me, torn up and crying hysterically, begging for my forgiveness!” Maelessa explained, gesturing wildly with her hands. Erryk and Daemon had caught up now and stood behind her, listening. Rhaenyra shook her head. “Vhagar killed Luke but it was not on Aemond’s orders. My grandsire always said that the idea that we control our dragons is an illusion. He was right.”
“I don’t care how much he begged for your forgiveness, I don’t care for his tears. He robbed me of my son and I am not as eager to forgive as you. I sent you a raven a few days ago. I was going to spare Aemond’s life if you returned home willingly. That offer has expired,” the queen spat. Maelessa frowned.
“I never got your raven. Must’ve been eaten by Vhagar. Surely you realise you’ll have no support from me if you intend to murder the man I’m set to marry?” she asked. In the battle between green and black, Maelessa was constantly torn. She wanted her mother on the throne, like her grandsire had always said. But she didn’t want war, didn’t want bloodshed, didn’t want dead dragons littering the city. And she couldn’t let Aemond die. She wouldn’t.
“Your dragon is too small for warfare anyw- what is that?” Rhaenyra asked, stepping forward. Maelessa looked down and realised her robe had slipped, exposing the crimson AEMOND on her chest. She raised her chin and straightened her back, owning it.
“Pretty, isn’t it?” she asked. Even when he used a knife, his handwriting was neat and beautiful.
“Did he do this to you?” Rhaenyra asked, reaching forward to touch it just like Alicent had a few days prior.
“I wanted it,” was all Maelessa said, a tone of defiance in her voice. Rhaenyra pulled her hand back and stared at her daughter in disbelief. A thousand emotions danced in her eyes before disgust seemed to settle.
“He’s sick! You both are!”
“Where’s Jacaerys?” Maelessa asked, changing the topic.
“Don’t deflect, Maelessa, I’m trying to talk some sense into you!”
“No need, your best friend Alicent already gave me the whole speech. Where’s Jace?” she asked. She hadn’t asked to be kidnapped and forced to come to Dragonstone, yet now she stood here being forced to answer for things her mother had nothing to do with. Rhaenyra sighed, calming herself down enough to answer.
“Jacaerys took Vermax and flew north to Winterfell, seeking an ally in the Starks, the same day Luke flew to Storm’s End.”
Rage flared up in Maelessa again. Luke was too young for such a quest, her mother should have known.
“Why would you send Luke?” she questioned. “He’s- he was just a kid!”
“I would have sent you, were you here!” Rhaenyra countered, the two women growing increasingly hysterical.
“You could have sent Daemon, you could have gone yourself. There’s Baela, Rhaena, Rhaenys,” she listed them off on her fingers while she stared at her mother.
“Do not stand here and blame me for my son’s death!” Rhaenyra shouted. “Blame the kinslayer you love so much!”
“I do blame you!” Maelessa screamed, enraged. “You sent a child to Storm’s End with nothing but demands! Aemond at least came with an offer of marriage!” she yelled, making her mother laugh out loud, but it sounded more like a snort.
“Your beloved murderer is marrying someone else? You do understand that you’re being used as his whore, don’t you!?”
Now Maelessa’s restraint broke and she screamed loud enough for the whole castle to hear.
“SHUT UP! You don’t know anything about Aemond and me because you’ve never cared enough to ask! I’ve been brought back here against my will, I will NOT stand here and listen to you berate me and call me a whore!” she shrieked, turning on her heel and stomping out of the council room, running off to find a maester. She had to send a raven to Aemond. She wiped her tears and found some parchment and a quill to write with. She explained to him what had happened, how Daemon and Erryk had plotted to steal her away in the night. She assured him that she had no part in it and had no desire to return to Dragonstone. She wrote that she missed him already and that she would find a way to return to him shortly. The Maester was hesitant to send her letter to King’s Landing, but reluctantly agreed.
Maelessa got situated in her new chamber and when she was all alone she wept until she ran out of tears. A war was inevitable now and she didn’t know what to do. Part of her wanted to see her mother take the iron throne, her birthright as the king had declared. But now she feared for Aemond’s life if that came true. The other part of her wanted to see Aemond wearing the conqueror’s crown, sitting the throne. The two of them had formed secret plots to install Aemond on the throne instead of Aegon. But the time wasn’t right, the right opportunity had yet to present itself. And now it was too late, at least for Maelessa to have part in it.
Her first idea was to take Catlys for a ride back to King’s Landing, but cruelly enough, Daemon had chained her up in the volcano and hidden away the key. Catlys cried and screeched when Maelessa failed to work the iron collar off of her neck. Nothing worked. So she fell to her knees and wept even more, hugging her little dragon tight. They fell asleep next to each other that night, and in the morning found that Silverwing had joined them, laying with her enormous snout by Maelessa’s legs. She reached out to stroke the large dragon, and was permitted.
