Random thoughts.
So i replayed BOTW a while ago for the first time and decided to write down some of the random thoughts that i get while exploring Hyrule, here they are.
… A lot of these things gave me some fanfic ideas and I hope that they will do the same for someone more competent.
It's realty in character that the response to being asked why you took the man's torch is either to bludgeon things to death with it or to be a pyromaniac.
When the tower pedestal shines, Link instinctively leans back for a second before diving right back in because curiosity kills the cat.
The message from the slate/tower is to watch out for falling rocks which either means that
1: zelda is writing them (and has a fair bit of free reign still).
2: the ancient Sheikah could see the future.
3: Ai to the likes of Fi.
Ganon kinda reawakens when the towers are up so maybe he was resting and building a body until he was interrupted here, which could be why his form later is such a hodgepodge of the Blights?.
Link is not too naive since he kinda clamps up in his answers to the totally unimportant old man.
Did Link briefly make eye-contact with the camera when he got the spirit orb!?
Link is a bit freaked out in his "How did you know!?" Response cas now he knows something major is up when the old man directly mentions the spirit orb.
Again, in character that you can choose to be an impatient brat with the "paraglider please?" Or inquisitive when Roam points out the slate.
Either run out of temper with the "that wasn't the deal!" Or be resigned with "so I need more now?" When the old fart sends you off to the other three shrines.
Ohh, another adrenaline junkie option with the "got it!" Over climbing the tower for a good view or a Deadpan "are you joking?".
"Or so i heard quite some time ago.. I do not know if it actually works as such" so they did not get teleporting to work before? or he just didn't learn how it was done.
So the monks, according to how the Triforce signs they held, apparently associate Power with Magnesis, Wisdom with bombs, Stability with stasis and Courage with cryonis?
The monks dissipate into green specks like Ganon’s soul does under the castle!
I'm not into men but damn if Link doesn't look good in the Warm Doublet.
Oh. My. God, he was King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule!!!!!
Link is such a dumbass, you get to ask Kass "are you a ...bird?" As if the man isn't standing right in front of you. No shit Sherlock! What next, is that a recorder?.
OhhohoHO! You either say "no(, i have not heard of them)" or "Ancient songs?" As if you do not initially realize why they are thought to be ancient which either is old memories warring with the now world or Link not realizing what impact The Calamity had on culture.
Another flat-faced sarcastic remark everyone!
When Manny mentions that his job is checking for beauties/sus people you can either be a dumb dunce and ask about the said beauties or a little menace with "sounds though".
Manny is an Incel, talks a big game and puts himself on top of a pedestal alongside being demanding and a creep.
Does Hateno not have a goddess shrine? Just the ~Evil~ one?
There is a pair of rusty knights sword and shield by the leftmost part of the walkway of Fort Hateno. Some knight probably died laying there, watching out over the field of guardians having been/being purged by Zelda.
A traveler (Chelessa) is interested in history and wants to question Impa about it, and is on her way to do so in fact. . Describes her personality as very pleasant, that must be wrong.
The Yiga know exactly how Links first waking moments played out so either they have extensive knowledge about his character and the setup of the Shrine Of Resurrection or Ganon was watching in on Zelda's call and relayed it to a minion in the clan.
"Hero boy" - derogatory.
Arrow in the eye of the bridge at the entrance of Kakariko, the Yiga are petty and I love it.
Piano's (the painter) hair bun thing that is styled like a pencil has paint on the tip... this man painted with his hair.
So the great fairy Cotera makes it sound like she will enchant your gear because you rejuvenated her, not because you bring the materials to do the enchanting.
The levels of enchantment seemingly depends on physical closeness to the Fairy (blow< indirect kiss< kiss < sex)
She can not enchant beyond Lv 1 without her sister's help, so they share power?
Paya specifies that they have watched over the Orb since the grandmother of the grandmother of Impa, that's 9 whole generations of long lived Sheikah! roughly 1000 years of recorded history!
Again with Link being a dense Shonen protagonist with "where is it?" Or a sly bastard with "really, though?"... maybe so that she would want to prove it ;)
…”I'll answer you some day, just not today!”
Either Paya is just not ready for that or she is so nervous that she did not think about the fact that her own grandmother was in the room when she said it!
“Served the royal family in secret” so it's not common knowledge that the royals have a village of Magic ninjas!? No wonder it took a damn demon to topple it instead of rebellion or infighting... probably has been like this since the old old king banished 'em.
"The royal family was destroyed, and the members of our tribe scattered."- okay so it was probably some Sheikah that either thought the royal family was completely extinct and either fled or, according to this next bit- "Sadly, there were some who swore allegiance to Ganon at that time. They joined together as the Yiga Clan, seeking out all who opposed Ganon... cutting them down, one after another."
So from that we get to know that not all Sheikah deserters became enemies (unless the Sheikah dislike defectors enough to hunt them down) and others who either joined an existing opposing group or simply up and created the Yiga clan that then aligned itself with Ganon... probably under either the belief that Hylia's line was extinct and that it was join or die or because they wished to spite the goddess and her followers.
I actually like this way more because it makes no sense that the Yiga could survive before the Calamity when the Royals would have an entire damn country and anbu black-ops to hunt them down with.
"Master link, now that you are awake, you are surely the most formidable opponent standing against them!" Either hero worship or the Sheikah are freshly out on capable warriors with Ninja magic tricks, probably the latter which would explain why the world isn't infested with Lynels or why hynoxes haven't just trampled every settlement.
"No doubt they will come for you, employing whatever underhanded methods they can device"
oh come on! Do not tell me that i'm stuck with the goodie two shoe ninja clan!? Underhandedness is your bread and butter! No wonder you served the royals in secret because you and them by proxy would have been a laughingstock otherwise!!!
"The great fairy Cotera... few remain who know that this village was built under her watchful eye." So the village is fairy new and the Yiga came about before Kakariko or it is old and so well protected that they can't get in... at least not easily.
"The mysterious power of Cotera is that of sacred protection..." so the Great fairies are linked to either Hylia or the gods, good to know.
So it’s not that Cotera “-would be happy to help” but, instead “i can't think of any reason why she wouldn't be happy to help you”. so either she only directly helps men or the earlier "you can put your trust in the great fairy" means that she judges more favorably for the chosen hero.
"I heard that the weather is going to be beautifully tomorrow... to bad you won't be alive to enjoy it"
So they have weather accurate~ich prediction? through magic or old time methods?
Again: Hero boy - derogatory... It's a common nickname for Link within the Yiga.
The lush green shrine could tell that a buck was on it, so the platforms are most definitely scanners.
A travelers sword by a campfire at the foot of mount Lanayru, so someone either took a swim and died to the Lizardfo, dramatically quit or got killed in their sleep.
Love the effect when you have metal weapons on the ground and swing a ThunderBlade!
You automatically reflect the Octorock's rocks, goes faster if you do it manually.
There is a hollowed out part of a hill/mountain with a lot of fic potential to the North-West of the Sword by the campfire.
Located where the lines meet if you draw a line to the right from Rabia plain and up from Trotter's Downfall.
Koko of Kakariko has been deceived by my cunning and slight-of-hand.
Yes, Sagessa (woman by the lake of the Dueling peaks stable), there is, in fact, something "quite romantic" in Link's "endeavor" to save Zelda, thank you for noticing!
The chests inside the shrines can only (non-violently) be opened by use of the Sheikah slate so why not steal a few? prefect safe-keeping for more stuff to keep in Links house.
Dunce moment everyone!
The Yiga traveler tries to seduce Link and you either go with "OK..." so he either has no damn idea about what is going on or is just not good with women?
Orrrrr you go with a straight "I refuse!" cas you see through their ruse and want to rub their face in the dirt!
According to Mina the Hylian, taking out two Bokoblins is considered as great martial caliber which both she and her traveling companion could not do while decently armed.
Best way to deal with a guardian scout when you have weak weapons: hit with electricity, switch weapon, hit 2-5 times, switch to electric, repeat.
When you first enter the area around Hyrule Castle, smoke Ganon throws a fit until Zelda slaps him away.
This either means that Zelda canonically gets a larger workload from there on and out or that the both of them push harder against each other every time you get close.
According to Zelda's diary, Link was assigned as her guard after the champions had been appointed.
How Link was focused on her yet did not voice his thoughts apparently "makes my imagination run wild!". Either romantic or dense.
Link admits to staying quiet because of the pressure of being the boy chosen by the sword.
King Rhoam mentions that he decided to honor THE royal family's traditions by naming his daughter Zelda, and that he is "not a man accustomed to frivolous musings".
Basically confirming that he is not the parent of royal blood.
They probably knew about The Calamity for a good while cas the page after zelda's naming speaks of the fortune teller, probs 3-8 years since Zelda was described to already have vast interest in the relics.
Pikango gets up at 10 past 5, I spent the night watching him and Beetle sleep.
According to all known laws of aerodynamics, Rito should not be able to fly, is Revali's gale then just an absurdly strong variation of some kind of sky Arcanum that all Rito possess? Do all the races possess one as Well?
Slimes ate the Bokoblins in the tree base at the center of the west Hyrule fields.
Savelle is a helpful guy without a pension for violence.
Munk Shae Loya is just flexing on all the other Munks, those old farts need to sit down while he's been squatting on one leg the last 10'000 years.
Chork of the Tabantha Bridge Stable is drunk.
Toren is either naive or a simp for the Faireys.
If you have the Hylian hood equipped with no weapon while riding at max speed then your cape will flap.
"Sweet boy..." "...I see now that my first impression of you was correct. You most definitely are pleasant to look at."
So link has some kind of presence/soul-thingy that appears pleasant to mystical creatures? Might be the spirit of the hero or this link in particular.
The Fairy Kaysar makes Link blush! No player input needed! We’ve found one of his types!... either that or he's just shy.
The fairies almost never use normal materials to enchant, it's always either monster parts that don't dissipate or things that grow in magical arias.
The Sheikah towers are sturdy as all hell, the Tabantha tower did not even get a scratch from a giant fucking pillar falling on it.
Okay, am I just crazy or is a Lizardfo and a Moblin holding a class for 5 bokoblins just to the left of the Tabanta fairy fountain!?
Lester, the wise curry rice guy at Rito Stable, describes Link as sunny boy, another point to the soul/aura theory thingy.
Phontos laughs to hide the pain.
According to the story that Kass sings.
Calamity Ganon was the result of sealing the enemy at its source.
It fought not only the spawn of the Goddess and the bearer of the Spirit Of The Hero but also the army of Guardians and the Champions that piloted the Divine Beasts for quite some time, as implied in the "and the guardians protected them throughout every hour".
So what i get from this is that the attack 10 000 years ago was the first sighting of what we know as calamity Ganon.
It was also far stronger than the one that attacked 100 years ago which implies that that one was either a rush job or that Ganon bounds had been tightened, both of which would drive him to seek out other methods like corrupting the Guardians.
...And the Guardians are apparently powered by the ancient blue energy which was, time-line wise, first shown when the Golden Goddesses created the world.
No wonder that Ganon was capable of doing this since he most likely is running on fumes, spite and the power of the Triforce which likely is made of/channels said energy.
According to the rumor mill, you need the blood of the Hero in your veins to wield the Master Sword, if this is accurate then that means that Fi is sentimental or that Link has magic blood.
Wildberrys are fucking massive.
Genli (the salmon child) is a cunt, one kid was crying about someone Vah Medoh killed and then Genli is all like "no don't stop it, if you do then i have to go to class again!", She would fit right in with today's youth.
Monk Akh Va'quot has the best position so far, he is just done with your shit.
"You adventurers are Crazy" -> "you're right"
You get nothing if you melt all the ice by the Tabantha tower! You lose! Good day sir!
Monk Daka Tuss got bored during his self-inflicted quarantine and started stacking his arm bands.
Tula (the bathing Zora) said "wow either you are a Hylian or hideously deformed"
Phura has vandalized and mounted one of the spirit frog statues above her door.
Okay but the fucking noice that comes out of Bolson when you buy everything!! It's as if you just walked up and twisted his nuts with the power fit to shield block a Lynel’s charge.
Is the flower by Link's bed a Korok version of a Silent Princess?
The monsters of Hyrule are show to have interest in consumption based on three accounts.
1: the Bocoblins and the Moblins by Hateno bay steal cattle.
2: Hynoxes carry around warriors foodstuffs.
3: Moblins (or at least the ones by the camp near the Serenne stable/forgotten temple) have a resting animation where they dig through the dirt and stuff something down their goblet.
...not to mention that nearly every camp has a bit of meat roasting by the fire.
Koyin has joined the fan-club!
God, the Naydra snowfield is fucking loaded in chill-shromes!
Stasis is perfect for looking for ingredients in forests, just open it, look around and bam! No more hidey hoe.
Why no shiny text for hylia's statue!?
I really do not like that they changed Naydra's colors when the malice was removed, they were so cool and then bam! White! White is not the color for ice and cold!
When praying by the spring of wisdom you are facing Hyrule castle, the same with courage and power if my memory serves me right.
...The master Torch
The Katona Aug shrine is just fucking mini-golf, how is that meant to prepare the hero?! Imagine how that Monk goes to the afterlife and has to look his fellows straight in the eye and admit that he was so lazy that not only did he make the hero play golf, not only was he so lazy that he made the Hero play mini-golf, but that he was so lazy that he did not even make a course! It is literally just a straight line!
Robie wants to see Links scars to verify that he is who he says that he is, Robie was likely one of the ninja that took Link to the shrine of resurrection.
Oh and Robin has two interesting sketches in his lab, the first is a detailed graph of a Sheikah tower so those were likely known about long before Link activated one (the one closest to Robin would be the one covered in malice and guardians so he could not have gotten enough detail from that one).
And the other is a sketch of what I believe is either a tier 2 or tier 3 guardian scout. Now, how can Robin know how that looks if only Link can/could enter shrines?
The Sheikah shrine that has the Barbarian helm is located at the end of the Sinai maze, did they just plop the shrine down there and steal the treasure of the ruin to later present to the hero?
There is one usable room in the citadel.
There is no compendium slot for the malice eyes that litter Naydra, Hyrule Castle and the Divine Beasts.
You can change the element of already elemental slime, not just the neutral kind.
Those head-spitting fuckers inside the divine beasts! They are partially reanimating mobs! So it's not that the Blood Moon is the time where Ganon is at his strongest, it's just where he chooses to revive everything.
The edge of duality can also be found in the shrine at the top of the dueling peaks.

Mini Fanfic #497: (Trying to) Stay Home Today (SSBU)
Dark Pit: (Sighs Relaxingly While Laying Down on the Living Room's Sofa) Finally....I have the entire day in this mansion to myself. Just me, myself, the TV in front of me, but mostly importantly, I don't have to deal with anymore bullshit to-
'Doorbell Rang'
Dark Pit: ('Sigh') Not even a minute later and I already spoken too soon....(Got up from the Sofa to Answer the Mansion's Door)
'Door Open'
Dark Pit: What do you want?
A Shy Guy with a Purple Bowtie: Greetings, my good angel man! Allow me to introduce myself, I am-
Dark Pit: Game Guy?
Game Guy: (Impressed) Ahh. I see you're already familiar of who I am, yes?
Dark Pit: (Rolled his Eyes in a Bit of Annoyance) Of course. How I can forget the biggest gambling cheapskate in Mario Party 3?
Game Guy: (Already Sweating Bullets) Y-Yes! Well....('Clears Throat') I know that my role in that game was..... Questionable at best, but rest assured! I've already became a very changed man.
Dark Pit: (Starts Looking at Game Guy a Little More Suspiciously) Right......So do you have any reason of being or-
Game Guy: Why, yes actually! I walked all over the beautiful town of Smash Town today and I couldn't help but notice your huge, gorgeous mansion from a distance. So I decided come by and ask you.....(Pulls out Some Cards From his Pocket) to play a game of cards with yours truly.
Dark Pit: ....................You mean to tell me that you came...all the way here just for a game of cards?
Game Guy: Well, when you put it like that, I-
Dark Pit: Already don't care.
'Door Close'
Dark Pit: (Making Way Back to the Living Room) Alright. With that out of the way, I can finally enjoy the rest the day here by my-
'Doorbell Rang'
Dark Pit: ('Groans a Little in Annoyance')
'Dood Open'
Dark Pit: Look, man, I don't want to play your stupid card- Oh. It's just you guys.
Wario: (Standing Next to Waluigi on the Doorstep) 'Eyyy, Dark Pit! Just the man we somewhat need to see! We need you for something.
Dark Pit: It doesn't involve a game of cards, is it?
Waluigi: What? No! We just need your help for a sec.
Dark Pit: ('Sigh') Okay. Fine. What's the problem?
Wario: We're looking for that lousy Cheapskate Game Guy!
Waluigi: Yeah!! He's a Shy Guy with-
Dark Pit: A purple bowtie? Yeah, I seen him. He came by here not too long for some card game before I shut the door on him.
Wario: ('Sigh a bit Angrily') Yep. That's the cheater alright.....
Waluigi: Knew it....
Dark Pit: What? He asked you two bozos to play cards with him too?
Waluigi: That's right. Wario accepted his challenge and everything.
Wario: He cheated me out of all of my money and gems!!
Dark Pit: (Raised an Eyebrow) You mean the ones you stole?
Wario: Noooo. I found them all fair and square!
Waluigi: (Glares and Growls at Wario) ............
Wario: ('Groans in Defeat') Fine....Me and Waluigi found them fair and square. (Turns to Waluigi) There! Happy?
Waluigi: (Starts Smiling Smugly) ('Heh Heh') Very.
Dark Pit: (Sighs While Beginning to Lose his Patience) Look, if you two really want to find the guy that badly, then why don't you look for him back in town. Couldn't be that hard to find since he had a giant, purple bowtie.
Wario: ('Groans in Defeat') I can't believe I'm saying this, but you're right. Guess we're having ourselves a Shy Guy hunt today.
Waluigi: (Place a Hand on Wario's Shoulder) Look on the bright side, bro. Once we're able to find him and get back all the money and gems he stole....(An Evil Grin Begins to Creep up on his Face) We rob him out of every single thing he has.
Wario: (Starts Grinning Evilly as Well) Say...... That's actually not a bad idea there, bro. If that cheapskate's really all that rich like he said he is, we can be able bet for everything he got and more and cheat our ways to victory. We'll finally live like kings!!
Wario/Waluigi: ('WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!')
Dark Pit: Yeah. Good luck with that.
'Door Close'
Dark Pit: (Finally Arrives at the Living Room and Sat Down on the Sofa) I swear.... Those two have no idea what they're getting themselves into anymore. ('Sigh') Doesn't matter. At least I can finally sit back and-
???: Well, well, well. If isn't one of Palutena's baby bois
Dark Pit: (Groans in Annoyance once He Immediately Recognized that Voice) Hades.......
Hades: (Gives Dark Pit his Usual Evil Like Smile) At your absolute service! How are you doing on this fine day today?
Dark Pit: I was actually having a good day till you came here....
Hades: Oh come now. There's no need to give me the hostile attitude here. I'm just here to say 'Hello' to an old friend is all.
Dark Pit: (Gives Hades a "Really?" Look) We're not friends, Hades.
Hades: Ah. Yes....Maybe calling you "Friend" isn't the right word....How about I call you my "Edgy Frenemy" instead? That has a nice ring to it, don'tcha think?
Dark Pit: Don't you have anyone else Irritate? Like your whole "League of Villains Club" or whatever?
Hades: 'Fraid not. The gang already has plans for the today. Bowser's spending time with his kids, Ganondorf meeting some lady name Urbosa, Mewtwo hanging out with Zelda and the two Links, Ridley flying off to space for some reason, not entirely sure what Dark Samus is doing right now if I'm being honest....
Dark Pit: Yeah. I don't care. You think you could get out of my sight now?
Hades: (Rolled his Eyes a bit Playfully) Again with the hostile attitude. Sometimes I wonder what I would ever do to deserve this kind of mistreatment....
Dark Pit: Oh gee. I don't know? How about the fact that made me watch THREE, WHOLE, GODDAMN EPISODES OF BOKU NO FUCKING PICO!!!!!
Hades: Ah. I see you still remember that memory very fondly.
Dark Pit: WHAT SO YOU THINK?!!!
Hades: (Chuckles Lightly) What's with all the yelling for? You're still living, aren't you? Or perhaps you want me show you another anime masterpiece-
Dark Pit: (Immediately Got Up From the Sofa) That's it! Where's my staff?!
Hades: Alright. Fiiiiiiiiiine. I'll get out of hair. I can clearly see I'm not welcome here.....Unless I can change your mind with an anime called "Happy Sugar-
Dark Pit: JUST GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE ALREADY BEFORE I SHOOT YOUR SORRY ASS DOWN!!!
Hades: Fine. Fine. I'll leave you alone, Little Pitto. Hades out. (Disappears with a "Pop" Sound)
Dark Pit: (Groans While Slumping Back Down on the Sofa) God, I hate that guy with a passion. (Took a Deep Breath) Doesn't matter. He's gone......Maybe now I can finally enjoy my day here alone. (Laying Down on the Sofa) Starting off with a nap.....
And with that Dark Pit closes his eyes to get some sleep................That I until....
???: PITTO!!
Dark Pit: (Eyes Open and Awake) What the- ACK! (Falls Off of the Sofa) ('Groans') Son of a- Huh? (Looks up to see Ren, Pit, and Futuba Looking Down on Him) What are you nerds doing here?
Ren: (Chuckles Lightly While Helping Dark Pit Back up in his Feet) To get you off of here, of course.
Futuba: (Smiles Brightly) We're all having a Beach Day today!
Dark Pit: (Raised an Eyebrow) Beach day?
Pit: Yeah, man. I tried calling you about and everything, remember?
Flashback.... Earlier This Morning....
Dark Pit slept through all of Pit's calls and voicemails in their room.
End of Flashback
Dark Pit: Huh. So that explain the vibrating.......
Ren: So....Now that you got yourself out of the sofa, how about joining us for some-
Dark Pit: Pass.
Ren: What?
Dark Pit: You heard me. I said I'll pass. I'm in the middle of my "me" time, in case neither of you didn't notice.
Pit: B-But.....(Frowns Sadly) Summer's about to end soon......
Futuba: (Frowns Sadly as Well) Beach Day wouldn't be the same without you......
Dark Pit: I know...... (Lays Back Down on the Sofa) And I couldn't care less either way.
Pit: But broooooo!! Come onnnn!! Don't bail on us now!!!
Futuba: We'll all miss you like crazy if you don't come!! Pleeeeeease!!
Ren: (Gives Dark Pit a "Really?" Look) Dude, come on. You're making your siblings sad here.
Dark Pit: Still don't care.....
Ren: So that's it then? You're actually gonna stay in this mansion for the entire day?
Dark Pit: That's the plan, Joker. And nothing's gonna convince me otherwise.
Futuba: (Slowly Starts Building up a (Cute) Evil Smile) Oh really? Not even....Oh, I don't know, a video of singing Toads?
Dark Pit: (Raised an Eyebrow) Singing what not?
Futuba: Toads. You know. Princess Peach's civilians and whatnot.
Dark Pit: (Sighs While Rolling his Eyes) I know who they are, Futuba. I just don't think their little singing has what it takes to change my mind.
Futuba: (Already Pulling up her Phone) Really? No matter how terrible and off-key their vocal skills really are?
Pit: Ah man. I heard a group of them sing once..... (Shudders a Little) They were all pretty bad alright.....Still cute though.
Dark Pit: (Sweating Smaller, Less Visible Bullets) N-Nope. Still not convinced otherwise!
Ren: (Gives Dark Pit a Teasing Smirk) Last chance, kiddo. Join us on Beach Day or face the wrath of a group of poorly singing Toads. Choice is yours.
Dark Pit: ('Scoffs') Please. You nerds can try scaring me all you want! I ain't gonna leave this sofa in the slightest!
Ren: Okay. Don't say I didn't warn you. Hit it, sis!
Futuba: Gladly! (Plays the Roads Version of Bohemian Rhapsody)
Toads: (Singing) Is this the REAL LIGHT?!! IS IT JUST FANTA-
Dark: (Already Had Enough and Got Up From the Sofa) OKAY! OKAY! FINE! I'll go to the beach with you dorks! Just stop the damn song already!! Please!!
Futuba: (Pause the Song off her Phone with a Satisfied Smile) Glad we had an understanding, bro.
Dark Pit: ('Sighs in Utter Defeat') Whatever. Just tell me when we get to leave.....
Ren: In a few minutes. The rest of the gang are already at a nearby store, getting everything we need for the party later on.
Dark Pit: Party?
Pit: (Smiles Brightly) Yeah! We planned on having this really cool Beach Party once the sun sets.
Futuba: (Smiles Excitedly) We're getting ourselves ice cream cakes and everything!
Dark Pit: (Huh. Beach Day might actually sounds promising for once...) Alright. You nerds finally got my attention. (Makes his Way to the Stairs) I'll get myself ready....(Looks Back and Points at all Three of his Siblings) And you three better not think about leaving me either!
Ren: (Smiles Softly) Relax. We ain't gonna leave you behind in the slight.
Pit: (Smiles Brightly) Ren's right, Pitto. Just take as much time as you need to get ready! B-But not too much time! 'Kay?
Dark Pit: Uh-huh-
Futuba: Wait! Pitto! There's something important I need to tell you!
Dark Pit: What?
Futuba: (Show Dark Pit a Heart Sign with her Hands While Smiling) We love youu!~
Dark Pit: (Blushes a Little Before Turning Away) Yeah. I know.........I......love you guys too....(Walk Up the Stairs to Get Himself Ready for the Day)

Shadows of Hyrule | Chapter 1
“Link.”
Link opened his eyes and looked around quickly. He had zoned out... again. He turned his attention to the board and knit his brows together. What the hell were they talking about?
Ms. Muller turned her attention to him. “Link?”
Link stared blankly at the board. She was waiting for an answer. “Seven?”
The class snickered. He turned his helpless gaze to Mipha and she rolled her eyes.
“Try to pay attention, Link,” Ms. Muller said in an exhausted tone. “This will be on the test at the end of the week.”
Link sighed lightly and let his chin rest in the palm of his hand. He stared at the board as the marker squeaked across it, but he could not focus on the equations.
“Link.”
Link straightened and looked around quickly, but all eyes were either focused on the board in front of the classroom, or glued to notebooks as their pens scribbled furiously to take notes. He turned once more to Mipha, but she, too, was being a model student. Her red bangs fell across her eyes as she took detailed notes, seemingly unaware of anyone calling his name.
“Link.”
“Shut up,” he hissed towards Mipha.
Mipha glanced at him quickly, her expression puzzled. “What?”
“Stop fucking with me.”
Mipha’s brows raised. “I’m not doing anything.”
Link slunk back against his seat. He peered around the room once more until his gaze fell upon Zelda’s from across the room. Her brows were knit furiously at him, as if he were the source of the disturbance. He ignored her, looking around one more time, but as the voice came again, it was clear to him that it wasn’t anyone in the room. Even more so, no one else seemed to have noticed. He returned his gaze to Zelda and she stuck her nose up at him and turned her attention back to her notes.
“Link.”
Link stood and Ms. Muller turned back towards him.
“Is there a problem?” she asked. She peered at him over her glasses.
“I…” Link started. “Bathroom,” he muttered, then made his way quickly out the door and into the empty hallway.
“Link.”
“What the fuck,” he muttered under his breath. He looked down the hall to his left, then to his right, but there was no one in sight. He made his way right and wandered the halls of the school until he arrived before his locker. He didn’t hear the voice again. He turned the dial to his locker until it clicked open and he stared inside. Except for his jacket, bag, and an old text book on the shelf that he had never opened, it was empty.
The phone in his pocket vibrated and he checked the message from Mipha. R u ok?
Link sighed and returned the phone. He swung the locker door closed and made his way back down the hall to his classroom. But as he turned the corner, the bell rang, and Zelda was first out the door. She caught Link’s gaze and her brows knit together angrily once more.
“What’s your problem?” she hissed at him.
“My problem?” Link said. “I didn’t do anything.”
“I don’t think you and your friends are funny,” she snapped at him.
“I didn’t do anything,” he repeated defensively.
Mipha emerged from the doorway next and the hall began to crowd quickly. She made her way to Link’s side and peered up at him in concern. “What’s wrong?”
“Someone kept saying my name,” Link muttered.
Mipha raised a brow. “I didn’t hear anything.”
“If this is some stupid joke,” Zelda said, “I don’t think it’s funny. Some of us want to pass this class.”
“You heard it,” Link said, more of a realization than a question.
“You heard it?” Mipha asked Zelda. Her eyes moved between Zelda and Link, puzzled by their interaction.
“I’m not an idiot,” she barked at him. “Stop pretending you don’t know what I’m talking about.”
“You didn’t hear that?” Link asked, turning back to Mipha.
“Stop playing dumb,” Zelda said before turning her back to them dramatically, causing her long, blond hair to swoop around behind her. She pushed her way through the crowd and disappeared down the hallway.
Mipha watched her curiously before turning back to Link, still puzzled. “What is she so upset about?”
“I don’t know,” Link said slowly as he stared after Zelda.
“Are you feeling okay?” Mipha asked.
Link turned his gaze back to her. “Yeah,” he said. “Just tired.”
Mipha smiled. “You should really stop falling asleep in class.”
Link returned her smile and shrugged with one shoulder. “Maybe. Must have been a dream or something.”
“Lunch?” Mipha followed him as he made his way back to his locker.
Link spun the dial quickly and lifted up on the handle, opening the door. He pulled out his bag and swung it over his shoulder before pushing the locker door closed once more. “I could eat,” he said.
Mipha moved to her own locker a few doors down and put her books and notebooks onto the top shelf, exchanging them for her own bag. She blew her bangs out of her eyes and closed the locker door, then returned to Link's side with a smile.
“What are you doing after school?” Link asked her. They walked side by side through the loud, crowded hallways towards the senior courtyard at the other end of the building.
“You can't copy my notes,” Mipha said dryly. “I need them to study.”
Link groaned loudly. “Come on,” he practically whined. “I'm gonna fail this class.”
“Maybe you should put more effort in to it,” she said, narrowing her eyes at him.
“Maybe you should be a good friend and let me copy off your test.”
“Seriously?”
Link grinned at her.
“You're hopeless.”
Link nodded. “That's why I have you.”
“I don't support this carefree life style.” She sighed. “What's your plan, anyway? Everyone else has started looking into colleges except you.”
“I don't need a mother, thank you,” Link muttered. “We're only juniors, what does it matter?”
“We had an entire assembly about this, Link,” Mipha reminded him. “Did you sleep through that, too?”
Link looked up thoughtfully, then shrugged. “Probably.”
“Have you even met with your guidance counselor?”
“What's that?”
“What exactly do you think is going to happen after graduation?”
“I don't make it a habit of thinking that far ahead. Hell, I haven't even planned tomorrow's naps yet.” He grinned at her.
“You can't be serious about anything,” Mipha said, shaking her head.
“Life's too short.”
“For you, I'm sure it will be. You're gonna flip burgers, eat fried foods, and die before you hit thirty.”
“Sounds like a good plan.”
Mipha rolled her eyes and pushed open the double doors that opened into the senior courtyard. Across the way, lounging on one of the tables, was a small group of four seniors. The tall, gorgeous, dark skinned Urbosa sat on the edge of the bench with her legs crossed at the ankles, her skirt showing off her long legs. The incredibly buff Daruk wore his dark hair spiked as he typically did, his skin a few shades lighter compared to Urbosa. He stood before her with his arms crossed. And sitting on the table, their legs on the bench seat, were best friends Revali and Teba. Their lighter skin contrasted greatly against Urbosa and Daruk. Sunglasses shielded Revali's eyes, but Link could tell he was glaring at him the moment Mipha opened the doors. Teba, on the other hand, paid no mind to them, though Daruk and Urbosa turned to greet them, gesturing for them to approach.
“You know this is the senior courtyard,” Revali said with a slight snarl. “In other words, no juniors, no matter how special you think you are.”
Link ignored him and met Daruk's waiting fist bump. Revali and Teba parted slightly, allowing for Mipha to sit on the bench beside Urbosa, despite Revali's earlier comment.
“Give it a rest,” Urbosa said with a roll of her eyes. “Link and Mipha can hang out here whenever they want.”
Link grinned, then stuck his tongue out at Revali.
“That's so mature,” Revali muttered. He peered at Link over his sunglasses.
“Be nice to him,” Mipha said as she bit into her sandwich. “His usual fourth period nap was cut short today. He's a little cranky.”
“I'm not cranky,” Link said, folding his arms over his chest.
“He and Zelda had it out in the hallway.”
“Zelda?” Daruk repeated, turning to Link. “Since when do you talk to her?”
Link pulled his own sandwich out and took a bite. “I don't,” he said as he chewed.
“She was yelling at him for something,” Mipha explained.
“What did you do?” Urbosa asked Link, narrowing her eyes on him.
Link swallowed his bite. “Nothing!”
“Oh, I'm sure he did something,” Revali said. “This is Link we're talking about. He has such a way with the ladies, after all.”
Mipha giggled.
“I think I'd know if I did something wrong,” Link muttered.
“Men never do,” Urbosa said.
“Whatever,” Link said. “She's crazy.” Maybe just as crazy as he was, considering they were the only two that seemed to have heard the voice. He turned back to his sandwich, and to his relief, the conversation switched to a new topic.
“Have you heard from any schools yet?” Mipha asked, turning to Urbosa.
“A couple of my bottom choices,” Urbosa replied. “But it's still early.”
“I'm sure you won't get a single rejection,” Mipha said with a smile. “They'll all be fighting over you.”
“I don't know about that,” Urbosa said.
“You're one of the highest ranked students in the school,” Daruk pointed out. “Of course they're going to fight over you.”
Urbosa rolled her eyes. “Yeah, but look at my competition.” She threw a thumb over her shoulder towards Revali. “I bet even Link ranks higher than that.”
Revali scoffed. “Grades don't matter anymore,” he said. “It's all about who you know. And I know people.”
“Right,” Urbosa said. “We'll see how that plays out for you.”
“I've already gotten one acceptance letter,” he said as he pushed himself off the table. “Early submissions pay off.”
“So, who's dick did you have to blow for that?” Teba said.
“My father -”
“Woah!” Daruk yelled, his arms in the air.
Revali glared at him, then continued. “My father's friends with the Dean.”
“The Dean's gonna regret that decision real quick,” Urbosa said to Mipha.
“While you're off doing boring lawyer stuff,” Revali said, “I'll be playing the stock game with a babe on each arm. They'll wear coats made of hundos and we'll sail off into the sunset on my massive yacht.”
“I'd say he's overcompensating,” Mipha said. Urbosa nodded.
“Come on, Teba,” Revali said. “Let's smoke this joint.”
Teba sighed. “You have such a Napoleon complex.”
“A what?”
Teba smiled and followed Revali. “It's okay, man. Ladies don't want men with brains.”
“Why are we friends with him,” Mipha said.
“Well, I liked Teba,” Daruk said.
“Why is Teba friends with him?”
“Teba and Revali go way back,” Urbosa said. “I think Teba is just stuck with being friends with him at this point.”
“They're in love,” Link said.
Daruk snorted. “Probably the only action Revali will get.”
“He's supposedly dating this girl at another school,” Mipha said.
“How do you know?” Urbosa asked.
Mipha raised a brow. “He told us yesterday.”
“Oh.” Urbosa turned her gaze up in thought. “I don't usually listen to him.”
“Someone should warn her that Revali's got a side guy,” Link said.
“Someone should tell Saki, too,” Daruk said.
“Teba and Saki are so cute together,” Mipha said. “For someone who's friends with Revali, he's a good guy.”
“Guess someone should break the news to Revali, then,” Urbosa said. “Teba will never leave Saki for him.”
“They're totally gonna get married,” Mipha said dreamily.
“Revali and Teba?” Link asked with a grin. Mipha threw her waded up trash at him and it hit him square in the chest, then fell to the ground.
“Revali has a girl friend before me,” Daruk muttered. “What has this world come to?”
“You're a catch, Daruk,” Mipha said. “You'll find the perfect girl before you know it.”
“Thank you, Mipha,” Daruk said sincerely. “I hope she's half as sweet as you.”
Link scoffed.
“And as long as you don't land a guy like Revali or Link,” Urbosa said to her, “you'll be all set.”
Mipha blushed and turned away, busying herself with her bag.
“Hey, I can be a catch, too,” Link said.
“Yeah, real catch,” Daruk said. “Ladies love scrawny high school drop outs.”
“There's more to me than that,” Link said.
Urbosa stood and put her hand on Link's shoulder. “Of course there is, Sweetie. But ladies want more than a big dick.” She winked at him and walked back towards the school.
“I'll take that as a compliment,” Link said proudly. “She wants me. I could get her.”
“You're a pig,” Mipha muttered.
“Good luck with that,” Daruk said. “She gives zero shits about men right now. And she's way out of your league.”
Link shrugged. Mipha pushed passed him with her bag in hand and waved over her shoulder. “See ya later,” she called to them.
“Wait a sec,” Link said. “She owes me notes.”
“Link,” Daruk started. “You can't expect Mipha to be your brains for the rest of your life. I love you, man, but get your shit together. You're better than that.”
“Thanks for the pep talk,” Link muttered.
“And I can't keep beating up bullies for you.”
“That was one time.”
Daruk made a muscle with his arm. “Get on my level, bro.”
From inside the school, the bell rang, signaling the end of their lunch period. Link sighed and threw his bag over his shoulder. “See ya later.”

alright, you know what
about two weeks ago maybe by now, i made a post about how i’ve recently hit 200 followers and i’d like to do a q&a again, and even with a reblog from someone more ~*popular*~ than me, and multiple reblogs once a day for a few days by myself, i didn’t get a single fucking question. not one. earlier today i posted two pictures of myself where i felt pretty (i’ve since deleted them) and nobody i actually know of liked it and i got asked by a stranger who doesn’t even follow me if i had any nsfw pictures. i don’t get asks anymore, i don’t get shit. and that tells me that, you may be following me, but you aren’t connecting with me. and i feel that. i get on tumblr and i don’t feel like i’m friends with fucking anybody. and i did that. i know i did that. 9/10 times i let my fear of rejection and embarrassing myself overcome my desire to talk to people, so i don’t do it, or i let it fizzle out and we go our own ways and we don’t become friends. 1/10 times i actually function as a human being and make a connection or at least something that sticks a little.
so here, below the cut, is a comprehensive (loosely) list of things that i like, in no particular order at all, besides tickling, because apparently both sides of this need a little help connecting on any front.
scooby-doo
beetlejuice
the addams family
the sims
the mcu
classic disney animations; my favorites are dumbo, the great mouse detective, the rescuers, sleeping beauty, and oliver and company (it’s old enough that i consider it in the classic category)
~modern disney animations too; my favorites are treasure fucking planet, coco, and... i’m a sap, beauty and the beast. rise of the guardians too even though it isn’t disney.
musicals; i can’t pick a favorite just fucking ask me, but i don’t know a lot of newer ones honestly
empire records
the greatest showman still
cats (i mean the animals but i also like the show even though it is Weird As Hell)
my cat in particular
alice in wonderland
stranger things
space jam
tsum tsums
elvira, mistress of the dark
dice
kiki’s delivery service and specifically jiji things
winnie the pooh i don’t even fucking care i LOVE HIM AND ALL OF HIS FRIENDS
silly hats
playdoh
interesting earrings
exploring libraries or big bookstores
true crime mysteries; my favorite youtuber for this is georgia marie, bless her. i also watch bella fiori and kendall rae
fictional mysteries too
i have a kind of fascination with jack the ripper and with the lizzie borden case
shipwrecks! i don’t know why but shipwrecks fascinate me! why did they go down? all the stories that went with them!
i once read a novel that was told as a series of letters, or journal entries, by people on the titanic, including the iceberg and it was THE absolute saddest book i have ever read in my life. like, obviously i knew what was coming, but i got attached to the characters, the letters made them alive and it was just like... NO. NO I DON’T WANT THEM TO DIE. I KNOW THEY’RE GOING TO BUT THEY CAN’T. and it was awful. i had to put it down and cry.
cryptozoology
the bermuda triangle theories (i’m not saying i believe sOmEtHiNg’S gOiNg On but i think some of the theories are interesting)
ghosts
the nancy drew computer games
monopoly
i still play a lot of my snes games; my go-to time killer and head-clearer honestly is kirby’s avalanche. i also play a lot of super mario rpg legend of the seven stars, super mario world, kirby’s dreamland 3, and donkey kong 2 and 3
final fantasy x in which i’m guaranteed to call almost (i can’t stress that enough) every character at some point “my child”
hyrule warriors, i know it’s not a tRuE zelda game but it’s fucking fun
same with fire emblem warriors
red dead redemption
kingdom hearts
the uncharted series
splatoon but i don’t have it wahhhhh
mind you i am not very Good at videogames, i just like to play them anyway
game grumps
ninja sex party
jacksepticeye
markiplier
monty python
crocheting
tea
harry potter
classic rock. pretty big on queen lately. i like tom petty and the heartbreakers. i like joan jett and the blackhearts.
i just... like rock. across the board. i like the offspring. i like some rage against the machine songs. acdc on the radio makes me happy. def leppard on the radio makes me happy. beartooth, starset, powerman 5000, as long as it’s got a good beat and good stuff going on behind the vocals then i’m gonna be happy. i’m way more into the guitars and the bass and everything going on instrumentally than i am vocally, honestly. the whole big guitar solo to van halen’s “you really got me” and then that bassline that comes in, that bassline is sexy. it’s so simple but i LIKE it.
anyway music as a whole gets me right in the heart and can lift me up when i am at my literal worst point
it’s hard for me to name a favorite or specific bands that i like because there’s so many and i’m not really picky about it.
pop vinyls
good ol’ vines
buffalo wings
mac and cheese
grilled cheese
dr. pepper
i drink a l o t of dr. pepper
pretending i know how to do makeup well
history; i watch a lot of expedition unknown and mysteries at the museum, and sometimes i’ll watch a free documentary on youtube if it catches my attention. last weekend i explained the donner party to my boyfriend. just.. on a whim. because i’d just watched a thing on it and he said he didn’t really know what it was. i’m that person.
OH I SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THIS BACK AROUND TRUE CRIME BUT I READ A BOOK ABOUT H.H. HOLMES AND HIS MURDER CASTLE AND THE CHICAGO WORLD’S FAIR. it was by erik larson, i believe. larsen? i could google this. devil in the white city. there’s been talks to make it a movie. it’s a good read though i will admit i skipped a lot of the fair parts because i was there for the murder.
i also read a book about the lusitania by the same author and i was like ohhh my goooood what. it got a little boring sometimes, i had to push myself to keep going, but i would read dead wake again.
csi: miami reruns are the greatest thing don’t @ me
dark purple and black aesthetics
just like... witchy aesthetics. those colors and black cats
if you haven’t noticed by any selfies i’ve posted, i do have my lip pierced and i love finding new lip jewelry. i have a new opal stud in and i love its look
leather jackets
combat boots; i have a galaxy print pair and a pair with classic marvel comics stuff printed on the inside and you can fold down the sides to show it. they’re my faves.
owls
drunk history
the first 5 seasons of supernatural and i still have a soft spot for the winchesters and castiel
i’m slowly making my way through watching the librarians
i’m also making my way slowly through watching the magicians
(american) football
nature walks
going to the zoo
going to the aquarium
like really take me to either of the above and i will lose my shit
road trips
savannah, georgia
the smokey mountains
last august i drove by myself from ohio to boone, north carolina for a friend’s wedding and that wedding was smack on a mountain top and it was the coolest thing i think i’ve ever done
roller coasters BUT NOT EXTREME ONES baby steps ok
log rides tho, i don’t know why, i always love the water rides
ren faires!
cosplay, even though i’m not exactly active in it myself (but i want to be; one of my offline friends is an actually-getting-kind-of-internet-famous mei from overwatch cosplayer)
cards against humanity
foosball
pool but i suck at it
speaking of pools i love swimming ... but i suck at it, i just like boppin’ along in a pool
cookouts
summer
there is nothing like being out in the middle of nowhere in summer when the evening starts to fall and the sky is dark, dark blue and there’s a sea of shimmering lightning bugs out over a field. it’s beautiful. it’s peaceful.
there’s nothing like sitting outside on a calm spring night and listening to the spring peepers (they’re frogs) either.
if you couldn’t tell, i live in the middle of nowhere. i have to find enjoyment in the little things.
campfires
dancing around said campfire, you cannot have a campfire without good music. this is when a lot of my classic rock education came to pass.
elephants
my favorite books are the abhorsen trilogy by garth nix, tied with the serpent’s shadow by mercedes lackey
i am trying to get into comic books by way of the youtube channel comicstorian. they break comic books down for you and read them aloud with the images, altered slightly to avoid copyright strikes (and that’s all made very clear, it’s not done sketchily), and it’s been really easy for someone like me who doesn’t just have a comics store close (and i would otherwise continue on as i have been, forgetting to ever look for them on the internet). i listened to injustice 1 and 2, and they covered the game. i’m actively following scooby apocalypse, and there was some teen titans stuff i went all the way through up until now. i don’t think it’s finished yet from what i remember.
i love museums
candles
i actually kind of collect tea sets
i also have a collection of sand art bottles AND IF I’M EVER AT A FESTIVAL OR A FAIR WHERE THERE IS A SAND ART STAND YOU CAN BET I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE
yugioh duels; i’m definitely just a novice and it’s just a fun pastime my friends got me into when they found their giant binders of cards again
i’m not actually that big on pokemon, i don’t know a lot of them but it’s still fun and i know some. but i did love pokemon go when my friends still played it (don’t really have time anymore, and it kept crashing way too badly on one of their phones anymore anytime they tried to join a raid and it just wasn’t fun as a group then)
i don’t have any but i like the ~look of crystals and would like to have some, not for my own aesthetic but i just... like having pretty things!
listening to the rain
how the air smells (at least where i live) after a long rain and everything is just cleansed
depression has stopped me from writing for a long time but, in my heart, writing has always been something that has touched me ever since i knew how to do it and could put my stories down on paper instead of having to just talk about them... so i’m going to include that here
root beer floats
hotdogs
hard dip ice cream (if you don’t know what hard dip means... as my boyfriend didn’t... it means ice cream that you have to use a scoop with, not soft serve)
soft serve’s good too tho don’t get me wrong
strawberry milkshakes
this isn’t even stuff that anyone would need to know on this site to befriend me at this point, nobody’s gonna message me like HEY I READ YOU LIKE STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKES ME FUCKING TOO
you’re cool if you do that lmao
so bad they’re good creature features from the 50s and 60s
the old godzilla movies
i like the moon more than the stars, but i like them too
flower crowns
bouncy balls
original skittles
this has gone on way too long, nobody is reading this, your mom’s a hoe, goodnight
no she’s not, i’m sorry, if you got this far then i hope your mom is a nice person

OSRR: 2566
i set my alarm for noon today. i woke up. and i didn't feel like going back to sleep immediately. it was ten hours of sleep i got. i'm gonna try to see what happens with 11, to see if that works better, because i ended up needing a nap today. so i'll try 11. maybe not tonight on second thought, because i have a meeting tomorrow morning in derry for the con.
anyway, i'm off to bed, but in a moment.
today i got up at noon and read a little bit and hung around in my room because it was hot outside and cool inside my room because i keep my air conditioner on all the time.
i came downstairs upon request to go with my mom to get lunch, which was nice. we got wendy's and came home and sat and watched tv for a bit, and then i went back upstairs intending to take a shower, but it was so early i decided to sit and read for a bit, and that turned into a nap. when i woke up a little after 5, i took a shower and i got dressed and left soon after that, because nathon and i had planned last week to bring kimmy out for dinner at texas roadhouse. i got there first and put our names in and i went back and sat in the car because it was crowded inside and hot outside and i wanted Cold. so, back to the car i went.
-> by the way, i'm still using mom's car because james is fixing mine. the problem it's having is with a sensor in the transmission. that's all. so not the transmission itself, which is nice, because it won't be three grand to fix it. rip.
anyway.
nathon and kimberly arrived and i got the text message ten minutes later and we went in and i surprised kimmy, like nathon and i tend to do lol. we're good at keeping surprises secret. it was like, two weeks ago when nathon was like "hey when are you free to celebrate kimmy's birthday" so we've literally had this planned for two weeks, even though kimmy said today "let's go to TR for dinner" but nathon and i had already planned for it huehuehuehuehue
i guess it's just predictable. it's funny. and fun. i love them.
they're buying a house!! they showed me some listings that they'd looked at or were going to look at, and they're really nice houses. i'm excited for them.
after dinner, we stopped at the dragon to get a few things and then went back to their apartment and hung out for a couple hours. nathon built a new 40k set he got, kimmy played skyward sword that nathon got her for her birthday, and i finished reading a fic i had started earlier, and i watched kimmy play. i've never played a zelda game before, so it was fun to watch, especially since it's a game i've never seen played, either.
anyway, i headed out a little after 10 to come home, and i stopped at a gas station to grab some ice cream bc it was, by that point, quarter of 11, so i grabbed some stuff and came home. i turned on some lights, plopped the ice cream in the freezer, grabbed a few things from the fridge, and plopped myself down in the yonder to watch a couple episodes of murder she wrote. i should really get up earlier so i can watch the morning episodes. those start at 9am. maybe i'll try that.
anyway, it's now time for bed. i'll be happy to sleep.
i didn't hear from joel today, although i expect he's with the idiot squad at the moment, or has just gotten home from spending time with them. and FF posted some pictures earlier of the evening last night out on the pier. they're so fuckin pretty it makes me mad.
anyway, bedtime. hi hawks 👋

Valentine’s Day Festival Pt.1
               Valentine’s Day Festival
Sidon x Link BOTW AU and Sidon x Link and Mipha x Zelda Modern AU Pt.1
 BOTW AU
It’s been 3 years since the ending of the calamity, everyone was able to rebuild and live their lives without fear. There was still the monsters, but not many and the Yiga were still a problem, but it became a lot easier to tell the difference between a normal traveler and a Yiga member. In a few days, there was going to be a festival, the special part about it. It was the day of love known as Valentine’s Day, couples would spend a great deal of time with each other, new relationships will form and some will just spend the time with all the people they hold dear. Link and Zelda were sitting in the study in the castle, Zelda going over diplomatic and political papers, while Link was reading a book on Hyrule’s history. Zelda put the quill down and stretched in her chair, “That’s it for today, I don’t think my body can take another minute of sitting in this damn chair.” She got up and walked over to Link and placed all her weight on him.
“Zelda, please don’t.” Laughed Link. “But, Link I want to.” She giggled.
She looked at the page he was on, it was the chapter for the Hero of Time, “I always loved his part, it made me feel so bad that he wasn’t remembered like the incarnations. Makes me want to go back in time and give him hug,” she hugged Link in the process. He grunted, surprised by the queen’s strength.
“By the way my knighty friend, the Valentine’s Day festival is coming up, planning on confessing to your prince.” She said with a sly smirk. Link blushed, it was written all over his face. “I-I would love to, but what if he doesn’t like guys?” Link asked.
“I don’t know what rock you been living under, but I can guarantee, he likes guys.” Zelda replied.
“And how would you know that?”
“Have you ever payed attention to how he acts when around you, how praises you like you’re the only person in the world, how oblivious can you be?”
Link blushed, but laughed anyway to deny it, “You must be the one living under a rock, because when I talk to him about the festival, he mentions this person he wants to confess to. Yes it hurts he might not share the same feelings I do, but I want my friend to be happy. And Zelda the praises is because of what I did for them, he’s just really grateful.”
Zelda just stared at Link with this face like she was about to say, “Bruh”, ‘Did he just, no one in the world is this stupid.’ She thought to herself, Link went back to reading his book. “You might be right, I don’t know what I was thinking. Well I’m going get a snack, want anything?” Zelda stood up and was heading to the door, “Some milk and apple would be nice,” responded Link not looking up from his book.
Zelda walked out the study and headed to the kitchen.
(time skip to day of the festival)
The day has finally come, the citizens of Hyrule all gathered in Castle Town early to set up their booths for the festival. The Gerudo were selling their specially crafted jewelry, Gorons setting up games for every race to play, Rito had archery games for children and adults, Zora brought in fish based meals and had water games and the Hylians served many other foods for everyone to enjoy, while also setting up games.
Zelda was getting ready in her room, she had just finished putting on her festival dress she had Paya custom make for her. She even had one for Link to match. The dress went down to her knees, the color scheme was pink and white, around the neck was a little bow, around the waist of the dress was a white sash and there were frills along the sleeves and hem at the bottom of the dress. There was a knock on the door and Zelda answered, “Come in!” The door creaked open and walked in Link, in his matching outfit Zelda had gotten made. Of course it was pink and white as well, it was made similar to his champions tunic, with a long white sleeved shirt underneath, the pants being white with a pink stripe going down both legs, the belt around his waist was also white. What topped the whole thing off, was his angry blushing face, Zelda let a big laugh and almost fell over, “Why you look so mad Link,” She continued to laugh as Link got angrier.
“You know damn well, when I got up this morning to get ready. All my clothes in the closet and dressers were missing, but this one with a note saying, ‘All your clothes were removed per my orders, so you have no choice but to wear this. Love Zelda.’ Really Zelda, this is embarrassing!”
All she could do is laugh even more. “I’m sorry, but it’s just perfect for the occasion and I wanted us to match for the fun of it. Your reaction just makes it a lot better.” She hasn’t stopped laughing, ‘Why am I stuck with her, I had the chance to leave live like I want. But nooo, I decided to stay as her knight.’ He thought angrily.
Once Zelda got her composure back, they made their way out the castle and into the busy streets of castle town. The people complimenting on how cute they were matching, some even saying what a cute couple. It made Zelda blush, but she knows she wasn’t the one Link was in love with and she was going to make sure that her friends get together. They passed up a Gerudo stand selling luminous stone necklaces. “Sa’vaaq Queen Zelda, Champion Link,” greeted the Gerudo woman. “Sa’vaaq ma’am, and no need for formalities you can just call us Zelda and Link,” Zelda said with a big smile.
“Such a kind woman you are Zelda, what may I help you two with?”
“Just seeing what is being sold throughout the town, your necklaces are quite beautiful.”
“Thank you Zelda, any lucky people you plan to give presents to?”
“Since you asked, precious cinnamon roll Link here has a crush on a certain Zora prince. And I was just helping him find the right gift.” Linked look at Zelda with the most shocking expression, ‘Did she just tell my business? How does someone say such a thing with a straight face.’ He thought.
“Zelda, could you not?!” He yelled, earning stares from the other people. The Gerudo woman and Zelda both went into hysterics. “I’m sorry Link, but your face just made my day even better.” Zelda laughed.
What they didn’t know, was a few stands down, Sidon was with Dunma, Rivan and Bazz (Bazz is such a hottie) exploring the different types of food. They all heard the yelling just to their right and walked over to see what it was. Sidon’s tail wagged with excitement as he saw his closest friend and champion Link.
He ran to them with his short legs, “Morning dearest friends!” Link tensed up at the prince’s enthusiastic voice, “Morning Sidon, good to see you enjoying the festival,” Zelda says elbowing Link in the arm. He jumps out of his trance and greats Sidon, “O-oh morning, sorry about that. Yeah I hope some of the stuff is to your liking.” Said Link rubbing the back of his neck.
That made Sidon’s tail wag more. No one else in the world could make him as happy as this Hylian. “I’ll see you guys later, going try to see how much I can stuff my face with,” with that Link ran off into the crowd. “What was all that about?” Asked Sidon. Zelda and the Gerudo woman both looked at each other and smirked.
 (time skip to night time)
In just about an hour there will be a special fireworks display, this was for many of the future couples to confess their love for each other. The male will reveal a red string and if the other accepts they will tie the string to their pinky finger showing the unity of love.
Link was walking around the town, stuffed from all the food he devoured throughout the day and went to sit in the field where everyone will go to for the fireworks.
He sat under a tree to lean against but not block his view, “I can take a nap until the fireworks, it’ll at least kill some time.” Link said to himself.
He got comfortable and closed his eyes, welcoming sleep to come to him. But the sound of footsteps in the grass woke him up, he opened one eye to see who it was and surprise surprise it was Sidon. “Evening my friend, I saw you walk this way and thought I could give you company. But looks like you were just here to relax,” Sidon was about to walk away, but Link spoke, “I could use it, anything to make time go by faster. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen fireworks and times going by too slow.” Sidon sat next to him and leaned against the tree.
The rest of the time, they both talked about things they’ve done, the duties they completed, what they did in their free time and the funniest moments in their respective homes. Before they knew it, the field was getting packed with people. There were a lot of couples sitting together and Link spotted Zelda sitting next to that Gerudo woman from earlier, both women looked in his direction and smirked giving a thumbs up. Link blushed madly and Sidon took notice, “My friend are you alright, you’re as red as a tomato.” Sidon said with concern.
“Oh it’s nothing I’m fine, something was just on my mind.” He waved his hand in the air. Soon there was an explosion in the air and a bright red colored flashed across the field. The first firework had just exploded and the people looked in aww.
The display went on for a few more minutes and the males started pulling out their red strings. Each one turned to their lover, Link had a small smile on his face, ‘They all look so happy, Valentine’s Day is such a wonderful time. If only I could spend it with him.’ Link though then he snapped, ‘Wait speaking of, shouldn’t the person he mentioned be here. Why’s he still with me?’ Link thought it over and over again in his head.
He turned to Sidon to ask the question, but stopped. In Sidon’s hand was a red string and he motioned the string to Link. “S-Sidon?” He stuttered.
Sidon just gave him a small smile and spoke up, “Is this the biggest surprise in your life? When I spoke of the person I loved for a while, I meant you. it was really funny to see how oblivious you were to the fact, that I kept it up and waited till now to confess.”
Link sat there star struck, “And you may not have noticed, but I knew you were feeling the same way. You just didn’t think I did, but your troubles can be put at ease.” Sidon grabbed Link’s hand and got closer to him, “Link I want to spend my life with you and only love you in the most romantic of ways. Will you accept my l-.” Sidon was cut off by Link’s soft lips touching his, he melted into the kiss and placed both his hands on the sides of Link’s head deepening the kiss. They both pulled away for air, “Does that answer your question my love?” Link asked taking the string and tying it to his pinky. Sidon’s tail wagged as he tied his end. Zelda and the Gerudo woman were whooing and screaming I ship it, earning looks from the other couples who soon turned their attention to Link and Sidon. Both men blushed, but drowned out everything and went in for another kiss.

Brave Part 18-Finale.
Pairing: LMM x Reader
Warnings: None!
Words: Who knows.
Notes: Alright this is it. My one-shot smut turned into an 18-Part monster and now it’s done! Don’t worry, there’ll be a new Lin x Reader next week-I’m sort of addicted. Thank you to everyone who read even just one part.
“I guess I’m joining Amazon Prime”, you joke grimly as lin holds the door open for you. “Eeesh, sorry about that.”, he apologises. Your Christmas shopping had been cut short because of a stream or selfie-needing fans. It was just getting to the stage where you couldn’t walk 10 feet without Lin getting stopped. “It’s not your fault, I’ll figure it out”, you say. “At least we both got our secret Santa presents for Fake Christmas tomorrow”. “Yup, and I already got your gift last month”, Lin says smugly. “Last month?! That is waaaay organised”, you say. “Just, saw a thing and thought of you”, he says. You touch the necklace nestled at your throat, the last “saw this and thought of you” gift he’s gotten you. He catches you doing it and you both smile.
“Well you’ve a good record with those things”, you say with a wink. “Alright what’s left to do before tomorrow?”, Lin asks. “Prep vegetables, wrap secret Santa presents. Figure out where the Cards Against Humanity got stashed”, you groan. “Ok well it’s 4, how ‘bout we prep the veg now, with Muppets Christmas Carol on, then eat take out?”, he suggests. “Yes! And we’ll look for the game tomorrow-no one is coming until 3 anyway”, you say. Lin holds out his fist for a bump and starts pulling potatoes and veggies out of the fridge. “I don’t have to stuff a turkey, right?”, he asks suddenly, anxiously. “No”, you laugh “it’s a pre done thingy you just bang in the oven for an hour”. “Thank god.”.
—————————————————
An hour later, still chopping and now wondering why you’d ever suggest having 7 people over for Christmas lunch, you belt out all the film’s songs to help ease the tedium. “After all there’s only one more sleep til Christmas!”, you practically screech and Lin giggles at your enthusiasm (or hysteria? Who can tell?). “Ok this is the one bit I don’t like about Christmas.”, you admit, flopping back on the couch dramatically. Lin chuckles and coaxes you back to work. “Come along, it’ll be worth it tomorrow when everyone loses their shit over your roast potatoes.”, he says. Grumbling, you resume and the two of you work away, pausing to cry about Tiny Tim and to sing the finale.
By 6, it’s all done and in the fridge. You wrap the secret Santa presents and place them under the tree and finally order your take out. “There’s only one thing left to do”, Lin declares. “What’s that?”. “Play Christmas songs and dance around the kitchen with a glass of mulled wine.”. You practically swoon at the suggestion after the long day, however “we’d need mulled wine for that”, you point out helpfully. Lin opens the kitchen cabinet nearest him with the flourish of a gameshow’s Glamourous Assistant. Inside is a bottle of mulled wine. “I fucking love you”, you deadpan.
“Picked it up at the airport”, he says smugly as he opens it. “The airport?! You’re flying around on secret business and you remember to get that? You are really super-prepared, it’s making me feel inadequate and nervous”, you joke. “Oh, you have no idea”, he grins. “Whaaat? What does that mean? What’ve you done?”, you ask suspiciously. “Patience, baby”, he mocks, recalling your utterance of that phrase earlier today. You actually blush at the memory, but you still want to know what he’s prepared. “Liiiiin”, you whine. Just then the door buzzes “Oops, gotta get that!”, he says as he practically skips away.
He returns proffering the Thai food you ordered. You keep the mulled wine for later since it’s a weird match for your curry. As you sit at opposite ends of the counter to eat, you wonder what present he’s got you. You’ve been so busy this last week that you haven’t had time for it to sink in that Christmas is actually here. You’ve not had chance to get excited yet, so when he’d mentioned his gift for you it just made the penny drop.
“Lin?”. “Yeah”, he replies through a mouthful of noodles. “It’s Christmas tomorrow!”, you grin. He laughs and puts down his fork. “You’re gonna get me up REAL early, aren’t ya?”, he groans. “What’s an acceptable time to get you up?”, you ask. Lin takes one look at your excited face and says “Whenever you want, love”. Your reply is just an excited squeal and he grins as he shakes his head. “Oh boy”.
You stick your tongue out at him and ask “Isn’t my enthusiasm...endearing?”. And he’s laughing again. “Alright but seriously I have a special breakfast planned, it’s a French toast bake thing that is gonna blow your mind.”, you tell him. “Then presents?”, he asks. “Then presents. What do you want to do after that?”. Lin looks slightly amused. “Oh once you’ve had your present you’ll just want to jump me, so I wouldn’t plan too much”, he deadpans. He ducks the newspaper you aim at his head.
——————————————————
By the time you finish your food it’s kind of been a long day, so you settle in front of the Peanuts special with the mulled wine and just enjoy being snuggled up together, Lin’s arm around your shoulder, your hand resting on his thigh. Occasionally he turns his head to leave a kiss at your temple. When the special finishes, he gets out his phone and knocks out a few Peanuts tweets and announces that it’s time to hit the sack so Santa can do his stuff.
“I just gotta make the breakfast thing, you go”, you say. “Alright, my love-see you in a bit”, he says and leaves you with a spiced-wine kiss.
You prep the breakfast and leave it in the fridge and then put the last couple of touches to your gifts. When you climb into bed beside him, he’s already fast asleep. You spoon him and whisper that you love him as you feel yourself drifting off.
——————————————————
You wake randomly in the night to find Lin gone from your side. You squint at the clock: 2:36. You know he’ll be in his study, writing down the thing that just can’t wait. You roll over and fall asleep long before he returns to your side.
——————————————————
You were half kidding about what an acceptable waking time was but apparently your body took you seriously as you wake just after 6. You creep off to the guest room to take a shower so as not to wake Lin. You pull on a soft red knit dress and curl your hair while the oven pre-heats. Once you’ve put the French toast in, it’s a much more reasonable hour. You set off a playlist of carols in the living room and go to wake your boyfriend.
You climb onto the bed and lean over to kiss him. “Merry Fake Christmas, gorgeous”, you say as he turns over to face you with a sleepy smile. Rubbing his eyes and sitting up, he says “Merry Fake Christmas to you too”. When his eyes focus he takes in your dress and gives an appreciative “Woah.”. You grin in return and tell him to get dressed while you serve up breakfast.
You’re just placing the plates on the counter when he comes into the kitchen. He’s wearing a Zelda Christmas sweater and his hair is down. He looks ridiculously cute. You tell him so. He comes over to hug you and kisses you so softly, over and over. “I love you.”, he says. “And I love you. So much”, you answer.
And so you sit down to your French toast bake, bopping in your chairs to the Christmas songs in the background. When La Vie Bohème comes on Lin grins at you. “What? Rent the movie is a Christmas movie, therefore this is a Christmas song”, you shrug defensively. “No argument from me!”, he laughs. “This is delicious by the way.”, he indicates the French toast. “Mmhmm, no argument from me!”, you laugh. You clink orange juice glasses and toast to Fake Christmasses, French toast and Rent. Then the music changes and Lin freezes. “Y/N...”, he starts, on the verge of giggles. You raise an eyebrow. “Is this...the Gremlins score?!” he asks. “CHRISTMAS MOVIE.”, you insist. “Yup, sure, sure.”, he agrees hurriedly and between laughs.
Lin sinks the rest of his orange juice. “Wanna do gifts?”, he asks, already knowing the answer. You’re out of your seat before he finishes, practically throwing the dishes into the dishwasher and then grabbing his hand and pulling him to the tree, where you’ve left his gifts. There’s just a little envelope for you, you notice.
“You first”, you say, holding out a gift bag. Lin bounces excitedly as he opens the bag up. “Oh myyyyy”, he says when he opens the box of rocky road you made him. “This smells amazing!”, he says. “Well It has a secret ingredient...honey whiskey!”, you explain. “Damn! That’s genius!”.
He puts the box on the counter, then hands you the envelope. He has a mischievous look on his face as you open it. You eye him suspiciously and pull out a piece of paper with Lin’s scrawly handwriting on it. “Welcome to your Christmas TREASURE HUNT!”, you read aloud. “Oh Lin that’s awesome! Wait, when did you do this?”, you ask. “Oh, about 2am”, he laughs. “That’s where you went! Ok first clue, first clue!!”. Now you’re the one bouncing as you read “In the morning you’ll hear me whistle and toot, as you decide: Earl Grey or fruit?”.
It only takes you a second or two. “The tea kettle!! Is that where the next clue is?!”, you squeak. Lin grins at your enthusiasm “Go look!”, he urges. You run over to the stove and lift the lid off the kettle. Another envelope is inside and you grab it before running back to Lin. You give him a kiss and declare this is already the best present you’ve had. “Open the envelope, then!”, he says. Inside is...a takeout menu and a map of the park across the road, along with the next clue. You look up at Lin, confused. “All will be revealed!”, he says mysteriously.
You hand him his next present which he squishes and tries to rattle. It does not rattle. “Hmmm, feels like a book, think it’s a book”, he decides, weighing it in his hands. He rips off the wrapping paper to find a grey box (admittedly book-sized). Black letters in the bottom corner spell LMM. He looks confused and pulls the lid off the box. “Y/N...”, he whispers as he places the box on the table. He lifts out a single leaf of the notepaper inside. It is headed by a skyline illustration, with the George Washington Bridge front and centre. A bold font states “From the desk of Lin-Manuel Miranda”.
“This is stunning, I can’t believe this-you had this made?”, he asks as he reaches for your hand, still looking at the paper. “Yup, there’s a specialist printer in Inwood.”, you confirm. “Who knew?!” Lin exclaims. “There’s a watermark...”, you prompt. Lin drops your hand to hold the paper up to the light and read the watermark. In a circle it says “Made in Wash. Hts”. Lin has a tear in his eye as he carefully places the paper back in its box. He pulls you into his arms and says “That is truly special, thank you so much!”. “You’re welcome. A great writer should have great tools.”, you say. He squeezes you tight and then tells you to read your next clue.
“How we gonna pay last year’s...” you read aloud and then run to the bookcase in the bedroom. Lin follows behind, and leans against the doorway, hands in his pockets. He watches as you scan the shelves and then triumphantly hold up the Rent libretto. You shake it upside down and an envelope falls out. You open it and take out a bus timetable and a subway map. “Lin are you buying me shares in the bus company? Is the subway map a Heights reference?”, you ask, more confused than after the last clue!
He just grins at you. “Hmmmm. Alright, you get another present before I read the clue, right?”, you say as you usher him back to the living room. Once in front of the tree again, you point to an envelope you had nestled into the branches last night. Lin lifts it out joking that he hopes you haven’t also done a treasure hunt. You laugh and shake your head no as he opens the envelope. He finds a calendar page for February and reads out what’s written across the last weekend “Lin and Q’s writing retreat”. He spins round to you, surprise on his face “You booked the house for me and Quiara?”, he asks. “Yeah, you missed out last time and I loved spending that time with you but you didn’t get much writing done”, you wink. “I just want you to know that I’ll do whatever you need to help you get stuff done”.
“You’re a dream”, he says with a smile. “I can’t wait to tell Quiara!”. “Uhh she already knows actually-I had to check her schedule-sorry”, you explain. “No, not at all! Psssh and you were all pretending you weren’t organised!”., he says with a nudge to your shoulder. “Oh you have no idea how last minute some of this was!”, you admit.
“Read your next clue”, Lin says. “We had our first fight, but we’re over it, please-go check the place where you threw back my keys”. Yikes. “Uh Lin, why would you want to remind me of our first fight?”, you laugh nervously. “Just go with it.”, he says reassuringly. “Where’d you throw my keys back at me?”. You cross the room “I didn’t THROW them, I just put them here”, you take an envelope and package from the potted plant. “I know but that didn’t scan!”, Lin laughs. You roll your eyes as you open the package. It’s a set of notecards and envelopes, made by an artist whose work you both saw in a little gallery nearby a few weeks ago. “Oh Lin they’re beautiful, thank you!”, you walk back to him to place a kiss on his cheek. “You’re welcome. That dude is super talented, isn’t he?”, he says.
You hesitate. “I’m not sure how to give you your final gift”, you cringe. “What do you mean?”, Lin asks, intrigued. “We might need to go out...”, you say vaguely. “Okaaaay...maybe you should read your next clue...”, Lin says. You open the envelope. “I hope no-one steals this next gift, go outside, turn around with your back to the ‘lift’”. You grin at the use of the word lift instead of elevator and head for the door. At the last second you grab a package from the table and take it with you. Lin follows you out of the apartment with his keys and phone. He closes the door behind you as you spin around so that your back is to the elevator and stare at Lin’s door. “Ummm”, you murmur. You look around the doorframe, and then it clicks-the console table. You open the drawer and there’s an envelope and a small rectangular box in there.
You walk to the stairs so you can sit to open the gift. You unwrap to see a distinctive blue box. Tiffany. You glance up at Lin, who rubs his hands together. “This is the saw it and thought of me?”, you ask. “Mayyyyyyybe”, he responds with a smile as he sits down next to you. You lift the lid off the box and find a silver keychain with a little charm on the end-a book, open, with delicate page details on it. You take it out of the box “Lin this is beautiful, and it’s so me...”, you stop as you see “Love, Lin” is engraved on the back. You place a hand over your heart. “Thank you, so much. I don’t know what to say!”.
Lin smiles and takes your hand. “You said it’s you and I know you meant because you love to read, but it’s more than that-you’re my open book-no poker face.”. You laugh at that. “I’m sorry I reminded you of our first fight but I kinda *wanted* to draw attention to it, because here’s the thing: we fought because I was trying to move us forward and you’d been holding back because you’d been hurt before. In the diner you said to me that you were normally a really open book, that you didn’t keep anyone guessing about your feelings. Ever since that day, you’ve opened up more and more to me-I don’t mean just by talking, but by making yourself vulnerable. You put it all on the line, to make this work. That took a lot of guts and I just kinda wanted to acknowledge that.”
“Lin, that’s so lovely.”
“And look, I also have to acknowledge that in letting me in like that...well I nearly screwed that all up with that kiss, and I couldn’t be more sorry. I’ll never do that again. So I guess I want to say that I’ll always be an open book too.”
You squeeze Lin’s hand. “I know you will. I...”, you pause. “You know what? This would be the perfect time to give you your last gift-it kinda says what I want to say”. “Ok. But can you read your last clue first, that miiiight dictate where we go...” he says. You open the envelope.
“After one of our dates: ‘She loves me’ I excitedly tell Kail, ‘Great musical but terrible movie” he says -You’ve Got...” you leap to your feet. “Mail! I disagree, it’s a fine version of the story!”, you say as you start to run down the stairs. You hear Lin follow behind you.
You run down to the row of mailboxes in the lobby and stand in front of Lin’s. Oh boy, this is a little spooky. You turn around as he catches you up. “I want you to open your last gift.”, you say. “Yeah? What about the location thing?”, Lin asks. “Uhhh that’s the thing...I was just gonna bring you here too...just open it.”, you ramble. “You were gonna bring me to the lobby? Ok”, he laughs and takes the package as you hold it out. He unwraps a small box and as he lifts the lid he pulls back a couple of layers of tissue paper. He puts the box down on the table and lifts out the tiny brass nameplate. He swallows hard then reads out “‘Miranda/Y/L/N’...honey, what is this?”, he asks gently. You straighten up, take a deep breath.
“Its a nameplate for a mailbox. With both our names on. See, I really have been trying to let go of the fears and insecurities I had and I’m not scared any more. Im not scared of us. And so I was wondering...that is, this is my way of asking...do you maybe want to live together?”, you explain. Lin just stares at you. “I just, I know when we first got together, I was holding back. I really was. But over these last few months, you’ve broken down my defences. You’ve shown me so much love and respect and it’s changed how I feel. I love you so much. I can no longer imagine my life without you in it.”. Lin still hasn’t spoken. What’s wrong? “And anyways, I’m always here so...”, you trail off feebly.
There’s a pause. And then Lin lets out a tiny laugh. Not the reaction you were hoping for! “Lin! What the...?”, you cry. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry”, he says and squeezes your shoulders. “It’s just...your last clue”, he points. “You’ve Got Mail?”, you repeat. “Open the mailbox, Y/N”, Lin says softly. You turn the key and inside is a sheaf of paperwork. Lin lists off the gifts he’s already given you by ticking them off on his fingers. “Local bus timetable, subway map and takeout menu. New keyring. Notecards so you can let people know you’ve moved....”. He pauses and points to the word at the top of the paperwork you’re holding.
“Lease.”
Oh. OH. This is the lease for his apartment. “With both our names on”, you repeat.
“I got these drawn up, to officially ask you to move in. Not just in a ‘Oh you might as well stay’ kinda way. I’m ready for us to be moving on, adding you to the lease, it’s a big commitment. But I love you and I know it’s right.”. He pauses and takes in your smile. “But you beat me too it! Jeez!”.
He leans over to kiss you and you smile against his lips. “I can’t believe we got each other the same gift!”, you say. “Well”, he laughs. “I mean if we ever needed proof we were on the same page...!”. You shake your head in disbelief.
“I wondered at one point if you’d ever want to take the plunge, really”, Lin says. “and I went back and forth on the whole gift thing, wondering if it was too much, too soon.”.
You shake your head. “No, not too much and not too soon. Couple months ago this really would have scared me. Before you brought me out of myself and built my confidence and just... loved me in that amazing Lin Miranda way that you do”, you say. He smiles in response and you hug him close, then kiss him. Your lips move against his, soft and familiar. When you stop, you say “You haven’t just told me, you’ve shown me, that you think I’m worth loving, that we were worth gambling on. I guess what I’m trying to say, Lin, is that you made me feel...brave”.

best-ofs, 2017
putting in a break here, this is real long
best book I read: The Handmaid’s Tale, Margaret Atwood
It seems trite to pick this in a year where every Tom, Dick, and Harry was comparing the Trump administration to Atwood’s novel and when Amazon was putting on a big-budget adaptation (which, for the record, I have not seen). The effect that this had on me, though, cannot be understated. Sad, wry, and all-too-familiar in places, this is a masterpiece that deserves to be up there with 1984 and the rest of the great nightmares.
honorable mention: The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, David Mitchell
I’m not much of a historical fiction person, but this masterfully wrought story of a Dutch clerk and a Japanese midwife in early-1800s Japan is well worth your time.
best comic: Batman, Volume 1: I Am Gotham, Tom King, Mikel Janin, et al.
King and his collaborators’ work on Batman since DC’s most recent relaunch seems to be on a trajectory to match or even surpass the Grant Morrison era in the pre-New 52 era, a reshuffling of the core cast that will pay huge dividends down the line (if DC actually makes a wise long-term decision for once, which, who knows). Despite his tendency to learn a little too hard on certain stylistic tics, I think King might be the best writer working in superhero comics today.
honorable mention: Detective Comics, Volume 1: Rise of the Batmen, James Tynion IV, Eddy Barrows, et al.
Yes, two Batman titles in one year is a bit of a cheat, but this is so fun that it’s hard to pick something else. Tynion turned up on a panel discussion on the great comics podcast Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men where he was introduced as the writer of “DC’s new X-Men title, Detective Comics”, which is exactly what this is - a team of misfits and outcasts cobbled together by a reticent, demanding mentor...who in this case is Batman. This is easy to miss out on with all the fireworks over King’s work, but give it a shot.
best comic (non-2017): MIND MGMT, Volume 2: The Futurist, Matt Kindt
Kindt’s work on the beginning of his psychic-X-Files saga MIND MGMT was good, but the second collection reveals it as a ship-in-a-bottle in the middle of a much weirder, wilder museum - there are few volume 2s that build on the success of the first as much as this one does.
honorable mention: BPRD, Volume 3: Plague of Frogs, Mike Mignola, Guy Davis, et al.
The first few collections of this series, following Hellboy’s teammates after he quits the secret BPRD organization, kind of flounder, but Davis and Mignola really hit their stride here with this sequel to an earlier Hellboy story that grows into a hybridization of Mignola’s earlier work and a Stephen King novel.
best movie: Blade Runner 2049
This also feels like kind of a cheat given my love for the original, but there was simply no other movie that had my gears turning after I walked out of the theater like this one did. The plot elements of this, of course, have been speculated on endlessly since Ridley Scott released the Final Cut of the original film, but My Guy Dennis Villeneuve manages to introduce enough new elements and uncertainty in the mix to keep you guessing - I found myself continually questioning what I really knew about anything that had happened or was happening. It was always going to be impossible to make a movie as good as Blade Runner, but Villeneuve came closer than anyone could dare.
honorable mention: Star Wars: The Last Jedi
I have my misgivings about the Finn and Poe portions of this, which feel like they mishandled the two more than a little, but the Rey/Luke Skywalker storyline is, as a whole, a barn-burner, building on both Rey and Luke’s characters in extremely satisfying ways. It was easy to imagine where they might go from Rey and Luke on the island at the end of The Force Awakens, but I don’t know if I imagined they’d go here, which is what makes this so great.
best album: I See You, The xx
I gave this a pretty casual listen on Spotify when it came out as I was kind of a marginal xx fan - I enjoyed their first album but didn’t really care for Coexist. I was totally blown away and listened to it all the way through several times (this is something I rarely, if ever, do with big pop/pop-ish releases). Virtually every track on here except for the extremely forgettable closer is perfectly performed and produced, from the playful, somewhat taunting “Dangerous” to the self-doubt-as-anthem “On Hold”. Should go down as their best album to date.
honorable mentions: Piety of Ashes, The Flashbulb / Sleep Well, Beast, The National
I couldn’t decide between these two, so here’s a twofer for you. Benn Jordan’s style as The Flashbulb has shifted along a spectrum of sweet spots between acoustic music and electronic music, and he seems to have somehow found the sweetest one yet in Piety of Ashes, which alternates between intimate material you might have expected on Arboreal or Love as a Dark Hallway (”Starlight”, “Goodbye Bastion”) and big, broad electronic pieces that feel like Jordan uncovered something he could always do that was just off-camera (”Hypothesis”, “As Water”).
When I first heard Sleep Well, Beast my comment to a coworker was “I only like some of it now, but I think I’ll like it more as time goes on”. This was a rare example of me actually showing some predictive ability, because this has really grown on me with time (maybe its intent as commentary on life in the Trump world as something to do with this). Highlights are the sad, sweet “Nobody Else Will Be There”, also-sad-and-sweet, but in a different way “Carin at the Liquor Store”, and the driving dark heart of the entire thing, “The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness”, which has been a constant play for me this fall/winter.
best TV show: Twin Peaks/Twin Peaks: The Return
A triumph for David Lynch and Mark Frost in every sense of the word. The era of “prestige TV” feels like a cheap trick by HBO, AMC, et al. to get us to watch the same old stuff with a slightly higher budget after 18 hours(!!!!!) in, around, and beyond (and I mean beyond) Lynch’s little town in the Pacific Northwest. Kyle MacLachlan deserves about 400 awards for his triple (quadruple?) role here.
honorable mention: Mr. Robot
I think Sam Esmail failed to stick the landing again (I wasn’t a fan of season 2), but the earlier parts of this season are maybe the highest highs the show has ever hit - Elliott and Mr. Robot fighting over his body in the bowels of the ECorp fortress from the end of season 2, Darlene struggling to extricate herself from the FBI, and the terrifying-yet-awe-inspiring scene of Angela laying out her plans to Mr. Robot as New York comes back to life at the end of the first episode. This isn’t always the best show, but boy, can it ever be good.
best video game: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
This is to video games as Lynch’s third season of Twin Peaks was to television: a throwing of the gauntlet to every competitor to dare and match this. Where other games would put physics puzzles in their own little sandboxes, BOTW applies its physics to just about everything and lets you see how far your tools can take you. Where other games would put everything on the map in perfectly zoomable, filterable control for you, BOTW challenges you to build the map yourself and actually get out there and explore. I’ve gone back to this in the harder Master Mode with the release of the last DLC, and there’s still nothing that can touch this. This is destined to be a touchstone for decades to come.
honorable mentions: The Talos Principle/Batman: The Telltale Series
The Talos Principle is everything I wanted The Witness to be that The Witness wasn’t: thoughtful without being heavy, clever without being impossible (well, mostly not impossible, there are a few of those puzzles I don’t think I could have cracked on my own). The writing is sharp as a tack, featuring a variety of philosophical discussions between your character and a whip-smart AI. A really excellent puzzler.
Batman: The Telltale Series marks yet another appearance of the Batman on this list, but what an appearance! Telltale throws out several sacred cows of the Batman behemoth, but instead of making something malformed and uninteresting, it feels like the freshest Batman has been in ages. I eagerly await every new episode of this, because I never know where they will go next.
best podcast: Important If True
This is yet another “feels like I cheated” entry, but the Idle Thumbs guys’ work on Important If True deserves to be recognized. They could have simply recycled the Robot News segments from Idle Thumbs for this, but instead they went for something much wilder, taking people’s advice on what wishes to ask for from a genie, going through breakdown procedures for old Chuck E. Cheese competitor restaurants, and speculating on a Jessica Fletcher vs. Jaws matchup (as in the shark). The most wildly funny podcast going now. Recommended episodes: “Fight Garbage With Garbage”, “Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins”, “A Wish Upon a Star”
honorable mention: Waypoint Radio
With the Idle Thumbs guys winding down to a monthly schedule (sorta), Vice’s Waypoint staff’s podcast has readily stepped into the hole left behind by the Thumbs for regular doses of industry coverage. It’s great to see Danielle Riendeau and Rob Zacny getting more exposure outside of the Thumbs ecosystem, and Austin Walker, Patrick Klepek, and Danika Harrod are this sort of perfect perpetual motion machine at the heart of everything. Recommended episodes: “The Orange Casket”, “R.I.P. A.I.M.”, “Someone Explain To Me The Alien Alloys Before I F'ing Explode”

Nintendo Switch and Legend of Zelda Road Trip Impressions: Part 1
By Stephan Bisaha
Washington, D.C. 7:05 a.m. – Back in 2006, I was waiting in line for the Nintendo Wii. Actually, it was my third time doing so; the first two failed due to my not arriving early enough to receive any of the limited supply.
Over a decade later, I was waiting in line again for a Nintendo console. But instead of arriving hours before the store opened with more than a dozen people in front of me, there was only one other person an hour before the Walmart opened.
(Okay, I did wake up a 3:30 a.m., went outside, saw no one was waiting yet and then went back in. The perks of living above a Walmart.)
When the doors did open at 6 a.m., the six of us that were waiting went inside to purchase our Nintendo Switch’s with little fanfare. There were about ten left and I didn’t see anyone coming in on my way out.
Tumblr media
This isn’t all that shocking. The Wii was a phenomenon that had my father – whose previous interest in games extended to how beautiful he thought the beaches of Super Mario Sunshine looked – flailing his arms to roll a virtual bowling ball. The Switch was never going to be that, at least not at launch. The system is essentially releasing in beta, lacking basic functionality like an internet browser or even a Netflix app.
But, just like in 2006, the main reason I woke up early to pick up a Nintendo console was for a new Zelda game, this one titled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Tumblr media
Of course, just as Zelda has grown up – and not in the moody, bleak Twilight Princess version of the term – over the past decade, so have I. In a couple of hours I was going to drive from D.C. to Birmingham, Alabama to report with WBHM for three months as part of my fellowship with NPR.
And while I may not have the same number of hours to toss at a new Nintendo console, the Switch has come at a perfect time. Nintendo touts the Switch as a portable console. It’s a tablet with two controllers stuck to its side and a dock to play on a TV screen. A two-day road trip to Alabama gives me an excellent opportunity to see how well the Switch functions on the go.
Tumblr media
The plan is, after a few more hours of sleep, I’m going to start the drive down with my packed car. Every few hours, I’m going to find some place to rest, either to eat or as a simple break from the road, and start playing with the Switch.
Tumblr media
How well does Nintendo’s new baby function away from its dock? Is Zelda really as good as the reviews are saying? Will I actually make it to Alabama on time or get stuck in Tennessee, unable to drag myself away from a new Zelda adventure? Let’s find out.
Troutville, Virginia 2:45 p.m. – The original plan was to stop and earlier in my travels to get some play time and rest in, but the wide-open blue sky and green hills covered in silhouetted cows motivated me to put in some extra hours before stopping at a rest area on 81 South. It’s certainly been a much nicer drive than I’m used to from my New Jersey upbringing.
After parking and stretching my legs, I slid beneath a tree and started to play, at least until I remembered it is still winter and the cold drove me back to my car and I continued there.
I did start up the Switch before I left D.C., which worked out as it allowed me to download two quick updates for the system and for Breath of the Wild. Everything was packed up already so I didn’t have a TV to dock the Switch to so I’ve only used it in handheld mode so far. The main menu really is bare bones, but it does have a simple elegancy to it. The menus are intuitive and easy to navigate and there’s little clutter.
When I returned to the Switch at the rest stop, I found it had already built up a fair amount of dust. While there were some small snow flurries at the beginning of my trip, the bright Virginia sun was causing significant glare. It sapped a lot of the weight out of BOTW’s ominous and mysterious opening. I twisted in my car to avoid direct sunlight on the screen.
To add to my awkward positioning, I’m having trouble getting comfortable holding the system. It’s light enough that my hands aren’t getting tired, but the Joy-Cons strapped to the device’s sides are taking some getting used to. The analog sticks feel a lot better than the 3DS’s circle pad, but a step below what we’re used to from modern consoles.
After playing BOTW for about 45 minutes, I’m ready to get back to the road. It’s been an enjoyable opening and it really does away with Nintendo’s handholding habit. I’ve died twice already, which is probably more than my last play through of Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. I think I can drive for a few more hours before the next stop.
Christiansburg, Virginia 3:50 p.m. – Never mind. The next rest stop I saw I took, about 50 miles down the road. My first few bad guy encounters in Zelda had me itching for more combat.
When discussing handheld games, it’s often brought up that they should be structured for quick play sessions. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon on the 3DS did this by, much to my dismay, breaking gameplay into individual missions. The idea is a gamer is more likely to have shorter burst of play than a when playing on a console.
The problem with that approach is missions are often set lengths – often getting longer as the game progresses – and it’s rare for a gamer’s limited handheld time to lineup perfectly with a mission.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild solves this by providing an open world full of quick challenges. Only have five minutes? That’s just enough time to take down this enemy camp. Have some more time? Here’s a small set of mysterious ruins to explore.
I was able to stop for about twenty minutes and have a satisfying time, as well as granted in game rewards for those tasks so I left with at least a small sense of accomplishment.
Atkins, Virginia 5:25 p.m. – I’ve stopped at a rest area just shy of Tennessee. The goal at this point is to make it to Knoxville and find a hotel there.
Now that the sun has dipped further down and not directly hitting my screen, the glare is no longer an issue. And wow, this is a gorgeous game on a gorgeous screen. Switching from watching a YouTube video on a smartphone to a game on the 3DS was always jarring because of how much worse the handheld’s screen is. But the Switch’s screen, while not 1080p, feels like a huge step up.
I’m getting more comfortable with the controller, but I am getting some pain in my right thumb when using the analog stick. Supporting the system while my thumb stretches down over a decent amount of time is difficult.
Oh, and as for the battery, I’ve been cheating and using a USB-C car charger so there’s been no real risk there.
Back to Zelda, I’m surprised how much I’m enjoying exploring this world. I had no interest in playing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim because of how much Fallout 3 failed to grasp my attention.
I tend to prefer more linear games. But I think the major difference for Zelda is the level of care and density. When I played Grand Theft Auto IV, I remember wondering what it would be like for every building to have an interior to explore. So much of the city was just skyscraper-shaped boxes with no way inside.
Zelda has the advantage of not needing to replicate New York City, but I’m never walking for more than a few seconds in any direction without stumbling upon a new danger or discovery. Despite the size of the opening area, every square foot feels like it was given careful consideration. I’ve logged about two hours of game time and I just stopped playing having finally bothered to address the game’s first objective.
But that will have to wait until Tennessee.  I don’t want to miss the sunset my westbound trip is preparing for me.
Wooddale, Tennessee 10:15 p.m. – I’ve decided to stop just outside of Knoxville. The jump between staring at a screen and the road – even if both have been beautiful in their own distinct ways – has my eyes weary. I pull into a Holiday Inn Express and drag my bags to my room. After a quick food trip, I connect the Switch’s dock to my hotel’s TV and set the tablet inside.
I thought Zelda looked amazing before – playing it on a TV makes the graphics really sing. It’s hard to take in all the detail on Switch’s native screen, which is to be expected given its size. But seeing it expanded on the screen provides a much better opportunity to soak in the graphics.
I connected the Joy-Cons to the grip that came with the system. A normal console controller is still preferable, but this is more comfortable than having the Joy-Cons attached to the system. I’ll try playing with the Joy-Cons unattached from the grips tomorrow to see how that compares.
I have another day of traveling tomorrow, but so far I’ve been impressed with the Switch. As unnecessary as a portable console may sound, it motivated me to get to each new rest area and to get back to the game. And to have that seamlessly transfer to a TV is an experience still unique, and greatly appreciated, in gaming today.

a long fucking post (sorry)
bc my browser quit so i just copied it into notepad and kept going and didn’t break it up bc frankly i couldn’t be bothered lol i’ve #struggled today anyway:
i...i dont have any stuff to make spicy food with?? oh my god..........
where do i even...find
lol i could go back to the plateau but i’d probably be Sad.
i guess i have no choice :/
wow i miss the old man
pfft i can see farosh from here but it’s so close i’d never make it in time
SOMEDAY /shakes fist
seeking out shelter from a lightning storm inside the ruined temple of time makes me Very Sad
man. man. there’s nothing i wouldn’t do to set this right
except the main story, i guess, hahaha
OMG A RAINBOW
just for a short moment i didn’t even have time for a picture...wow wow wow
all right i’ve got enough peppers and i’ve had MORE than enough of the plateau im outta here
i fast traveled back to that one shrine i couldnt figure out before
i realize now i was probably supposed to use my paraglider hahaha but i just didnt think of it
theres a chest in here that i cannot. get. oh my god
[death montage]
GOT IT
lol and all that for a little sword
BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS thank god i have a fast travel point now
and that’s all done! time for more of The Story
normally i’d cut this off here but it’s p short so far so w/e
except.......idk where to go next. i know i want to find the zoras, but
which...direction are they. like, i even googled it
i’ll ask my brother and attempt the naked island again while i wait. i read somewhere you can drop your stuff before you properly set foot on there and it helps a bit. plus it’ll be something he hasn’t done, haha
well, so far so good - i managed to drop a few of my best items and a  small amount of food - apples and raw fish - before i stepped on, but i forgot to drink the defense up elixir. i DID remember to eat the extra hearts food, though, and a good thing, bc i came on during a fucking storm in the middle of the night and nearly got killed by some weird yellow octorok popping up out of the ground. fine now tho, all out of extra hearts but other than that good - found some shrooms, a sword, and an axe
oh my god i hit a barrel and DIED bc there was an electric chuchu in it!!!
okay trying again...in the storm again...forgot to drink my defense bonus again...Greay
one orb down!!
lol and i died AGAIN bc i underestimated a bokoblin...i can't take out camps from afar with no arrows!! maybe i can try bombs next time, sigh
i hate getting out to this island
i hate everything ABOUT this island. it is deisnged to kill you. endless skeletons and fire chuchus are great if you need materials and weapons but the chuchus set everything on fire. and there are octoroks ringing the whole island AND on the actual island - there's no safe ground ANYWHERE!!
remembered to drink my elixir but nearly left the stuff i dropped floating in the ocean lol
one orb down AGAIN.
gotta be a smarter way to do this bokblin camp on the hill. i can't take them all on at once and i can't detonate any of the explosive from afar with arrows, and bombs get me noticed. i can't take that swarm of enemies with no armor. no way.
YES camp down lmao i blew up the barrels with my own bombs since the fucking chuchus noticed me anyway
now i can COOK THINGS thank you thank you
YES now i have hearts up and attack elixirs!!!!
time to fight the blue hinox (:
HAHAHA WOW MY HEARTRATE IS SO JACKED RN
he has so much defense even with my elixir ;_; im too afraid to get close enough for an attack
i wish i had a defense booster!!
NO oh god a lightning storm now of all times!!! no!!!!!!
I CANT EVEN CLIMB THE CLIFFS TO ESCAPE HIM IN THE RAIN
oh my god can he follow me into the water...?
wow it's lightning for the next three hours what the fuck?
aaah the music stopped..he's laying back down...i hope his fucking health doesnt refill
i tried using chuchu jelly to make explosions but they didnt hurt him, only my weapons did bc of my elixir...but im sooo afraid to get close to him, if he kills me i have to do ALL this again
i wanna wait the storm out before i fight him again but i get the feeling the storm was triggered by him waking up bc it's nonstop lightning on the little forecast thingy
god there's not even anywhere to take shelter i just have to pray i dont get struck
yeah it changed back to normal rain as soon as he started snoring...he BETTER not have his health back
NOPE HE DOESNT BUT I GOT UP CLOSE TO HIM TO HIT HIM AND I'M SO SCARED LMAO MY HEART IS POUNDING SO HARD IM SO STRESSED
at least it isnt storming
nooo i hid in the water again and he slept and some of his health came back )))): i am never gonna get him, this is gonna take hours!
as if that wasnt bad enough there's another bokoblin camp with a MOBLIN on top of this big ledge
maybe i can get some arrows at least :/
good news: managed to cheese the bokoblin camp up top. have in my possesion 13 arrows. bad news: hinox is definitely back at full health rn
ok. so im up here where hinox can't actually go (i hope...) and i have my bombs and 13 arrows, plus all these extra bows and weapons and even a pot to cook some more stuff in. i can do this. i can do this.
ok he can't get up here he can't even hit me with projectiles but IMMEDIATELY the lightning started up again so lmao (:
luckily i have found the perfect position from which to roll bombs down at him lol
so this is only gonna take all year ASSUMING i dont get sturck by lightning.
no no no no no NO NO NO
the blood moon!!! why now!!! oh my god!!!!!! can ANYTHING go right oh my god!!!!!!!!!!
at least im far enough down on the ledge the camp up there cant see me
but i'll have to clear out the other one again if i ever manage to kill the hinox and get his orb
:| he keeps trying to go to sleep lol which. no bitch no more health for you jesus fuck
he can't get any of his rocks to land on me and only about every third bomb lands on him lol
his health is sooo low im so tempted to go down and take a swing w/ my weapon, but if i die now and lose all this progress i won't be able to deal so im gonna stay patient and cheese it til the bitter, bitter end
HAHAHAHAHA FINALLY
FUCKING EAT ME YOUR GARBAGE MONSTER GET W R E K T
I PERSEVERED!!!!!! STAYED DETERMINED okay now if not for the blood moon that'd be the end of it but no i gotta clean out that one camp AGAIN without dying
i can do this i can do this i can do this
i......i did it
all thats left is to drop my items and put in the last orb
oh my god!!!!
oh NO if you drop too many they start vanishing ok....choose carefully then
lol ALL THAT FOR A SHRINE TO SOLVE this better be one of those no-puzzle chest only deals
LMFAO i have to reclear the big camp to get in the shrine...oh my god...oh my god
ah well maybe i'll get some more shields i accidentally glitched all mine away
should be easy with all my stuff back
aaaand im stuck down here at the camp i cleared out bc its storming. at least the blue moblin got struck by lightning in a stroke of what i can only assume is divine justice
ok the storm has FINALLY passed
i am FINALLY inside the shrine and have a fast travel point
i got 300 rupees, which is garbage, and i got to watch that stupid monk turn to dust.
ooh whoa there's a rito out here!!!! hi!!!!!
lol a training course for flying...20 rupees a pop. now i know what the fucking chest was for. god.
ah i can't do the course and im so tired of failing at things...i guess i'll leave them for now altho i bet you get a SICK upgrade
no wait i looked it up and its just rupees LMAO no thanks
im never coming back to this fucking island ever again
also: forgot that i did not actually explore the sunken ruins earlier bc of Weather, am going to do that quickly before quitting
oh god oh no i landed right here and there's some fucking masked walking beast getting ready to attack me Why God
IT'S A CENTAUR I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMEONE WITH A HORSE IT'S CALLED LYNEL WHY WHY WHY
god okay we're doing this i guess jesus fuck
if that wasn't bad enough farosh is flying above us LMAO and i still can't shoot him
I! KILLED HIM! bc i had a DEFENSE elixir
i wish i had snapped a better pic than his dying body tho :/
o h w e l l
oh!! i found a memory while exploring!!!!!
HAHAH HOOOOOLY SHIT
oh my god...oh my god...
so it was the four pilots of the original jaegers and two are dudes and two are ladies!!! so there was an even mix in the scene #nice
the voice acting was good and still so unexpected
and the MUSIC oh i love the music when he's remembering something
it felt like a scene from any zelda game, but one near the end—except i'm still at the start
it's so similar to how everyone like, rallied behind link at the end of tp to help him beat ganon, but...this time we already know link failed
god!!!!! this is so good!!!!
every time i find myself thinking "this is an amazing game but it just doesn't feel much like zelda" it comes back and gets me
aaaaaah
and i found a shrine here!!! #nice
altho i'd really like to be done for the night lol
it was super easy thank goodness
omg no the dragon flying earlier must have been naydra bc there naydra is :'))) hey bud
ah and i ran into kass the accordian playing rito again ;w;
anyway now that im FINALLY done with this pronvince tomorrow i can go find the zoras!! yay!!!!
fun fact my very first username was "[not my name, some random one, not telling what it was] of the zoras" bc i love them so much

lots and lots of itinerary planning
main points:
- cinnamon bun for breakfast
- pizzeria hoagie for lunch right after
- shovel some of the driveway
- spend the entire afternoon planning...
- planning itinerary for japan
- brief planning call with jwoos for chicago
- more planning itinerary for japan (couchsurfing, housing, what to do there)
- dinner with the fam
- some more itinerary planning
- smash online with deepak and his friend john
- smash doubles with sheena
today i:
- woke up at 10:15am. snoozed my alarm almost until 11. then lazed in bed until 11:30am :p watched beefy smash doods visual of v2.0 patch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4buiIi6L7M
went downstairs and ate half a cinnamon bun for breakfast. breakfast at like 11:30am. lmao
- called the pizzeria place and put in two orders. i got a chicken salad lunch special and my mom got a cheesesteak hoagie lunch special. went to go pick it up shortly after
it was so fking cold outside like 10 degrees. i moved the trash can from the driveway back inwards and my hand was so cold in that short walk
- brought it back and ate it at the kitchen table while watching S2E17 of scrubs. mom came out of her meeting around 12:45pm so she caught me just as i was finished eating. i only ate half of the sandwich and saved half of it for tomorrow
- went outside to try to shovel some of the snow. we had like a thin layer of frozen snow and some of it was slippery cause of the ice. so i tried to get rid of it by scraping with the shovel upside down
- spent the entire afternoon planning for japan and then briefly for chicago. soooooooo much planning
i started maybe around 1:30pm? i copy pasta’ed the excel sheet jwoos and i made for chicago and seattle. then started planning day by day. but i first had to google what i was actually gonna do in japan. so i looked at top things to do in tokyo, doing some research, reading through people’s blogs. also booked my flight from japan to taiwan
a few of them were:
https://www.socialtravelexperiment.com/single-post/5-days-in-tokyo-itinerary/
https://triplelights.com/blog/5-stokyo-whatdo-wherego-i-3003
https://www.travelonthebrain.net/tokyo-in-5-days/
https://nerdnomads.com/what-to-do-in-tokyo
and i learned about couchsurfing.com. i thought it was an interesting concept but looked more into this later in the evening
i also tried to figure out if the JR rail pass was worth it. it’s not, but i’m gonna get a metro pass (suica i think) cause last time i was there with dimitri it was so confusing trying to have the exact change for the place you want to go to
then based on some blog posts i started creating an itinerary. i came up with some things to do in the first 3 days in tokyo! whew. so much research
then i started looking into couchsurfing and whether it was worth it or not. because when i was in singapore i realized that traveling solo is fun but also lonely. and the people matter just as much as the place. so i wanted to see if i could meet some locals and hang out with them. i started looking at some profiles, reading reviews about couchsurfing in general (some say it’s sketchy especially as females, a lot of male hosts treat it as tinder), and some various other things. then started considering hostels as an alternative, cause they can be social too. spent some time back and forth, looking at airbnb and couchsurfing hosts. i started to create my profile cause i thought one of them seemed really cool. i also wandered and looked at hosts in kyoto, osaka and taiwan
also while this was happening, in the middle around 3pm i had a quick call with jwoos to figure out what he was doing for monday dinner so that i’m not just like abandoning him to get dinner with cici LOL
- ate dinner with the fam downstairs. it was some chicken, leftover chicken, sweet onions, potato soup and some veggies
- went back upstairs and continued looking into couchsurfing hosts. and started to create my profile/add info to it. i also forgot about airbnb experiences so maybe i could go to those too? i was wondering if it’d be worth, and i thought maybe it will be. cause i’ll get to meet some people even though it costs some money. also drafted a letter i was planning to send to the couchsurfing host
- around 8:30pm deepak messaged me if i had skype. he and john were skype calling so i hopped on. they were playing pirahna plant dittos. so i hopped in and we had free for all pirahna plant battles. it was pretty epic and fun :p we were just messing around a lot too. then we played some normal free for alls with our mains. i used snake. then john had to leave around 9:30 so deepak and i played some singles. then sheena came in around 9:45pm cause she had wanted to play doubles earlier today and i agreed to it but forgot i was playing pirahna plants with deepak. so i offered her to play against deepak and she did pretty well. they had zelda dittos, pirahna dittos, dedede, pit, corrin, different matchups. then around 10:20pm i called it a night cause i was gonna go shower :p said good night to deepak and took a shower until 11pm
- sheena asked if we could play some doubles and i was like yeah sure after i shower. cause we won’t be able to play doubles for a long while i’m away for chicago and seattle. when i got out of the shower sheena said that anna said that siblings are like built in best friends. AHHHH so wholesome :) siblings are like built in best friends indeed
we played doubles and mostly beat everyone. in one of the matchups i played ganon and sheena played pirahna and we were against a lucina and pirahna. they were reaaaally good. like i got gimped a lot by the lucina. also got combo-ed and rekt :p we played maybe 3-4 games with them then they left :’( if sheena had zelda and i played snake it might’ve gone better
- we stopped playing around 12:15am and we brushed our teeth. now it’s 12:48am and i’m about to go to sleep. i need to go to sleep cause i gotta wake up early tomorrow to get my blood drawn
okay good night the end

The game wasn't just ported as it was either, they added a brand new "Race" mode to the game where you are timed against a friend and have to race through different levels. The game on the Switch also supported split joy-cons, which is always a positive, and the actual performance and patch job seem to be absolutely stellar. Anyway, when a Twitter user asked Team Meat whether their game would be coming to the physical market, the developers very kindly replied, ">99%"...now, I know maths may be quite difficult for some of you so to put that into other words, a physical release is definitely coming to the Switch. That isn't all the news though, as later on down the thread, another user asked whether it would be coming in the form of a Super Meat Collection and to that they replied, "A collection probably in the future, but not for a long time.". Although that means it isn't confirmed, it still shows that they are thinking about it. Can't wait, I just hope that the box art is there and we actually get some form of fancy looking manual!  Game Announcements/Updates: Korg Gadget - Announcement - Spring 2018Now this is an incredibly fascinating announcement. Korg Gadget, currently only a PC and Mac software, has just been announced to be coming to the Switch! Most of you are probably unaware of what this software/program is, so I would like to leave it to the website to give you a better explanation that I could probably muster up at 11:00PM GMT..."Plentiful instrumental gadgets combined with a simple and intuitive graphical interface enable speedy music creation. With this new music creation studio, one can create and perform music by actively twisting and turning the Joy-Con™. There is also a multi-player mode in which up to four people can collaborate in making music. Connect via an HDMI cable to enjoy playing on the TV in your living room, or use it with a projector for big live performances. Everyone can enjoy this new game-like DAW experience.". Holy crap, a music creation software for the Switch that incorporates the joy-cons and even allows for multiplayer! I guess the announcement for that other software arriving for the Switch has been pretty popular, and now I just want even more software companies to port there programs to the Switch. Super Beat Sports: All Star Pack - Announcement - TrailerIn a surprising, but definitely welcome announcement, a new song pack is now available for free for Super Beat Sports. Super Beat Sports is "a collection of five sports-themed mini games with a twist - everything is musical. That means that you’ll need swing, volley, and score to the music in order to come out on top.". This music based game is actually pretty fun and the fact that the developers are providing free song packs is pretty great of them. The song pack titles, "All Star Pack", will come will 6 new songs which are going to be featured in the Net Ball and Gobble Golf mini-games. You can read the full announcement in the link above. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Update 1.2.0 - Patch NotesThis was very kindly discovered by a reader yesterday, so instead of updating the post 10 hours after it went live, I decided to wait till today's post so you all could be made aware of this update. If it isn't obvious by the title, yesterday saw the release of the brand new 1.2.0 patch for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. This game was the third and final major 1st party release for Nintendo last year and performed incredibly well, however not to the heights of Mario and Zelda but that was expected. Anyway, in this latest patch, several bugs were squashed and other fixes were put into place. They also added several user requested features to make their game even better for their playerbase. Some of these fixes include, "Added functionality to allow players to receive the first round of quests and the second round of items associated with the Expansion Pass.", "Voiced segments in menus can now be skipped with the A or B button.", and "Adjusted the Gormott regular quest “The Riddle on the Wall” to make it completable regardless of player progression in the main story.". This extensive patch is available to download now and the relevant patch notes can be found in the link above!  Top Reddit Posts: Games with tiny fonts have to stop. - Link - u/kravitzzYou think Switches success will bring back "Game Cube" era of all games released on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch? - Link - u/YarrrImAPirateWhat the Switch Really needs is a solid City Builder - Link - u/TheRealShubshubI’ve got a very talented friend. I've released 3 articles today and have officially launched my website (moved it out of a "soft launch" state! I know I say it regularly, but I would like to thank you all for the continued support, without you I would never have continued this series for more than a week, I would never have hit a month of activity. Today was a little quiet in terms of news, but with the next Direct being rumoured to be a thing next month, I'm sure I'll be kept busy. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who allowed me to use their reddit posts from earlier today, you are part of what make this community amazing. Enjoy your day/night and I'm going to get some much needed sleep now, night night! Sam :) via /r/NintendoSwitch
