Ok ok ok I'm not Tryna start discourse but bluestars prophecy was my first ever warriors book and bluestar will always be my favourite so I'm gonna make some counterpoints to you about her being a Smajor character

bluestar has always been led by an intense loyalty and dedication to those she loves and cares for - this includes her mum, her sister, her clan, eventually Firepaw when he joins the clan, and she has a VERY strong moral compass when it comes to doing the right thing - when she sees thistleclaw teaching tigerpaw to hurt a then baby scourge she very much discourages it and is against it

Afaik scott is Not like that, he doesn't have an emotional or love-driven moral code, he does things because they're smart decisions in the long term or because he wants to. Granted I havent seen a ton of his stuff but I have seen his limited life and 3rd life perspectives and he is very much a singular team player there, there to look after himself and well if people align with him that's great he's got allies (jimmy and Martyn) but he won't go out of his way to care for them

Bluestars defiance of starclan in the first series is BECAUSE she gave herself to them and what the warrior code demanded so much - yes she broke clan rules by having kids with crookedstar but she did everything in her power to make sure they'd have a happy life and felt terrible that thrushpelt was willing to say they were his to save her reputation. She didn't do it out of a selfish want, she only ever wanted to help her clan and those she loved, and her becoming clan leader is emblematic of that want. When she rejects starclan so wholeheartedly in the first series it's because THINGS KEEP GOING WRONG WHEN SHES TRIED SO HARD TO STOP THEM FROM DOING THAT - starclan has never cared about the sacrifices she made to keep her loved ones and clan safe, she lost her mother, her sister, her kits, her mate, literally everything, and things STILL KEEP GETTING WORSE. it's not a demand that she deserves to have everything good, it's a cry for help that shouldn't something go right after she's tried so hard???

C!Scott isn't like that. He puts himself above others and inherently believes he will get the best if he just plays his cards right, and he is good at it, he's very competent at lasting a long time in life series and getting what he wants - the ruthlessness of gem driven by desperation kills him in secret life, Martyn's complete fucking about face kills him in limited life, and I'm pretty sure it's etho who gets him out in 3rd life by luck. He doesn't plan to look after the ones he cares about, because he cares about himself first and foremost. Yeah you can argue when he doesn't get what he wants he gets annoyed, but his is less of a 'why don't I get this don't I deserve it' and more of a 'oh fuck this didn't work. Ok new plan double down on getting what I want by appeasing to people cos they're easy to read and therefore account for'

I don't doubt Scott would make a bluestar adjacent character if he made a warrior cats oc BUT his character would honestly be closer to darktail or ashfur than bluestar and that's that on that.

OKAY 1. this is fucking awesome thank you 2. i am going to do something new and exciting (advocate for scott instead of beating him to death with sticks) because unfortunately this bluestar info has only made me believe she is a smajor character even more.

As a general note when I talk about smajor characters as a collective here I’m referring to characters more in the realm of esmp/traffic/rats/pirates/etc, less vampire scott or necromancer scott who are intended to be villainous.

Scott characters tend to operate under a “If I am not a Good Person I may as well die” rule, and consequently abide by a strict moral code to keep themselves feeling clean. For instance: traffic Scott will never go back on his word, he will avoid dishonesty, and he won’t take from others unless he is sure that he can repay them. He will never betray his seasonal primary ally (even when they betray him first), and will often give people things just because they asked him nicely. He stakes a lot of his own identity on this, because it is through being a “good person” that he justifies his superiority (and, by extension, his own existence); in his mind he deserves the best and *is* the best because he is such a good person. When things don’t go his way, he thinks he doesn’t deserve it because he has been nothing but good, so he tries to place a reason. He often assumes that somebody must “have a vendetta” against him, even if this somebody is the world (see: him asking if limlife episode 1 boogeyman is some kind of joke played on him for not giving in to the boogey curse in Last Life.) which is very Bluestar to me, convinced that her misfortunes are a divine punishment.

This is all to say that Scott does have a strict moral code and deep sense of loyalty. Being a “good person” and devoted partner in the ways he understands it are so ingrained into what he is that I think he definitely has the capacity to be a Bluestar if he were raised being taught clan values, even if his internal systems are often built around never letting gross emotions be fully felt rather than what those emotions compel him to do.

a young kid naming himself after ben in the classic era if ben was still in that era of learning to care because he should and not because being a hero is awesome like. imagine that. something would just click I feel like. like, its not a crowd of people cheering for him or people he'll never interact with that he saved from a burning building. its personal and this specific kid looks up to him and sees him as a REAL hero enough to name himself after him. ben would just have a wake up call I think. like this is what it's all about. not how cool it is and not kicking bad guys butt but this. it just fits so well with the arc he had in OS to not think about

hi for people migrating from lifesteal / unstable twitter, tags are used for categorizing fandom content so people looking for that stuff SPECIFICALLY can find it. not for adding onto your post for algorithmic reasons or random "how is your day lifesteal community" esque posts. please don't misuse them, it will make the tags unusable. only tag things that are actually relevant to the content of your posts. you dont need to tag everything you post about a subject and its honestly better not to, if you liveblog what people will often do is make tags that don't have series or smp names in them that can be used to organize your own blog. for example, someone might use the the #💞 tag to post about lifesteal stuff as it would allow them to categorize posts on their own blog while not crowding up the maintag for example, if you're talking about unstable universe, dont throw the lifesteal tag on there just because the creators are on both projects. in addition, the minecraft community on tumblr doesn't like when we use the general minecraft tag for minecraft youtuber related content as it would drown them out. please use smp tags, dont throw the #minecraft tag onto your posts for mcyts. that includes tags using the word minecraft, so dont use #minecraft smp for example. if you want to find mutuals who like your interests, you can just post about your interests and they will come naturally. you can put it in your pinned if you really want. be normal to content creators who have tumblr accounts or they'll leave the site. if you wouldn't say it in their twitch chat you shouldnt say it in their ask box. tumblr also heavily relies on the culture of block and move on. if something someone else is doing bothers you. please do not make call out posts and put them into maintags. nobody wants to see that. if you talk about discourse use the #discourse tag. tag your shit. tag shipping so people can filter it out. for lifesteal the tag to put is #lsshipping and #mcytshipping

I'm not maintagging nor allowing reblogs to this post. If anyone disagrees or has anything to say, please comment or write me in my dms! I didn't want to post about it after Spies London per se because I didn't want to be a party pooper and I wasn't sure if it was just a me thing or not (after talking with other people, it doesn't seem that's the case).

But I didn't like Oliver's Owen! I don't think he's a bad actor by any mean, and his voice is amazing (I was so impressed by both One Step Ahead and The Coldes Goodbye Reprise). However, I don't think he got Owen acting-wise.

Owen is a really complex character. He doesn't have much time onstage, as he is introduced in the same scene he dies and doesn't return until the end of the second act. He is built around different personas and lies, with a really complex relationship to Curt that is only seen through the subtleties of acting and dialogue.

In that sense, it's not a surpise that for someone who only had three days to learn and rehearse 3/4s of a musical you're not familiar with (because that's how much they did) didn't get Owen perfectly... But it was slightly dissapointing. I must say the version they had of the text didn't really help: they took out Curt's name and replaced it by Agent Mega/Mega, not letting Owen appeal to him during the reveal/staircase scene as much as he does in the original version; they took out most of Chimera and made it all Owen's plan and tech; and there were some missing beats that help flesh out the character. Even so, the delivery of certain scenes was slightly one-noted, only clinging to the "villanous" part of the character and lacking the theatrics or the heart of the character. To put it simply, I didn't see love in Owen during the staircase scene, and that's Vital for the whole show.

I really loved the production as a whole: the cast was really strong and I was so blown away to see everything they did just in three days. But with such a strong cast, if something doesn't really work it stands out. And in this case, it was Owen.

please do recognize this is not intended as inflammatory or insulting. ultimately i do want to use this as a way to clear the air for others who share this same opinion, about this.

if you are insulted then, i can’t really do much for that. your reaction is far out of my hands by this point as i do not have control over you.

first, c!dream has always been a villain to eret. he was their ABUSER long before tommy became the target of his abuse/manipulation. and a character dynamic like that should be resolved as having a character go through that and not allow them to process and personally resolve it is shallow at best.

the abuser, c!dream, may have “moved on” akin to real life abusers do, but i can guarantee a story that has the victim do the same without a satisfactory conclusion is weak.

for both of your options: 1) the dream smp is very focused on the relationships characters have with each other. resolving a character arc without the major relationships is absurd for this story.

(it’s like saying wilbur should have just had his character leave without the apology tour to end every major relationship.)

2) eret and foolish’s lore is very important and should be resolved, but it is not the only major relationship that related to eret’s character. there was wilbur, niki, fundy, and yes dream just to name a few.

i have to assume your experience with c!eret is not very involved. because it is very fitting for them to want to kill him for what he has done to them, and their loved ones. keyword: WANT. I cannot say whether carrying it out in the end will be the most satisfying for their character, but the intention is important for them.

and just to restate. yes foolish and eret have a past. so did eret and wilbur. and eret and dream. not one of these are more important than the others. and all have been/should be addressed.

i’ll also add: cc!dream has a habit of poor communication with other ccs for this sort of thing. do not blame and make the one trying to take an active role fix the issue. this is collaborative storytelling, all parties need to be held responsible for their stories and actually participate.

tldr: it’s good to know the situation better, eret should be able to finish their lore properly, and cc!dream would get kicked out of any other roleplay group so fast.

I dont understand why eret is trying to force her character do lore with dream when they dont have any issues with one another. Their interaction was in the past. C!dream moved on and became a villain.

I think it's best if she tries to contact foolish to do lore. Hearing that no one is responding does make me feel sad for her but she can either do the lore on her own or try to reach out to foolish.

Scrap the whole c!dream killing lore because it doesn't make sense for her character to do that. Her and c!foolish have a past together and it's better to go that route if not, do the lore on your end.

Thats interesting to read. Idk to me Vax is always a big sulking asshole and i really didnt like how he treated Vex and Keyleth sometimes and kind is definitely not a word id use for him. I admit that Liam's play style isnt really my thing and im not a fan of either of his pcs and maybe my annoyance at the fans of both Vax and Caleb makes me judge them more harshly than others. But the next time i rewatch i'll look for what you're saying. I still dont think i would describe him as kind though.

Yeah...I've talked about this before and I'm not maintagging this because I'm happy to field good-faith questions but I'm not interested in hardcore discourse but while I do think Liam has this weird polarized following that is unhinged on both ends, and while I also think it's totally valid to have negative feelings about something because the fans are very annoying, one still must actually look at canon and be like "okay I don't like this but is it true".

There are definitely choices made by Vax I don't love, but I really can't think of a time when he treated Vex or Keyleth unkindly. The harshest moment I can think of with Vex is him telling her he doesn't feel comfortable talking about Keyleth with her, and she was being pretty aggressive to start with. For that matter, even when I haven't liked Liam's acting or playstyle choices I've generally found him to be a pretty strong advocate for the women of the cast; one thing that always stands out to me is Liam and Sam telling anyone who was attempting to interrupt the cupcake scene that there was literally no reason to do so and to let Laura continue finishing out what she was trying to do, or Liam using Lieve'tel to explicitly state in-game that Vex and Keyleth would live full lives without Vax there, or making a concerted effort to have scenes with Ashley to get her back into the swing of things and incorporate Yasha into the group.

I mean I think I've been particularly vocal about how badly the fandom treated Jester w/r/t Caleb, and I feel the same thing happened with Vex and Keyleth w/r/t Vax, but I think I've also been equally vocal that it was purely within the fandom and never in canon (and, indeed comes from the same exact place of letting love of a character lead them away from the literal events).

Basically I find myself in an awkward middle regarding something that as said is really polarized, where I'm like "people who loudly proclaim how they are sobbing each time Vax's name is mentioned and argue that the Mighty Nein should have abandoned all their individual goals and desires to focus solely on Caleb can fuck off, but also people who ignore the entirety of canon because they've decided to direct their bile towards just some guy from New Jersey instead of at a Republican politician or something can fuck off". And in the end, it's two loud tiny minorities and a lot of people who I suspect feel roughly as I do but the internet does not reward boring measured opinions and also a lot of people understandably do not have my personality trait of "well someone's gotta hit the wasp's nest with a bat."

tl;dr it's totally cool if an actor's style does not work for you and to be irritated at segments of the fandom to the point that it shifts your opinions on characters/ships/whatever, but I do feel it's absolutely crucial to step back and look at what actually happened on the show, otherwise one runs the risk of becoming only against things rather than enjoying one's self.

Seeing character critical in the main tag and the person stating it was satire and a shitpost and getting defensive saying “you apologists don’t tag your critical posts why should I? I’ll listen but only if YOU listen.” Like bro shut the fuck up.

If someone maintags their critical posts (very bad fanbase etiquette and just a dick move) then fucking DM them or ask in the notes for them to tag it properly and remove the main tag.

What you don’t do is proceed to main tag your “shitpost” making fun of people being critical of your fav by posting a satirical post about their fav. It’s not the big brained outplay you think it is. You’re just being a cunt in a different font.

This fanbase is filled with differing opinions and views on characters and their motives, and it’s one of the best and worst things about it. This fanbase is amazing at character analysis given that they are open minded and respectful of others opinions, and they are TERRIBLE at character analysis because if faced with someone who has differing opinions they get angry and try to argue the moral high ground of another character.

The DreamSMP is a story built upon the lack of a strict moral code. Everyone is a bad person, they’re all morally ambiguous and they’re all people with real problems dealing with traumas in real ways. None of them will be perfect. None of them will be the amazing hero character we’ve been taught to like in modern media.

There are no villains in the DreamSMP. Not even Dream himself, shocking I know. Techno isn’t a villain, neither is Philza. Or Wilbur. Or Schlatt. Or any other person who’s stated they are villains. They aren’t.

Wilbur? The guy who named his living self “Alivebur” but we all agree he’s “Vilbur”? Ghostbur said it himself, Alivebur was a terrible evil no good dragon who was slain by the great and mighty Philza.

Because Wilbur believed himself to be a villain. He instilled a title which does not exist within the context of the SMP into himself and Ghostbur retained that memory. He sees Wilbur as the villain because Wilbur saw himself as the problem.

And this fanbase is a lot like Ghostbur (when they aren’t infantilizing him for the sake of hollow family angst) in the fact that they see a very one dimensional world in this LITERALLY 3D concept we’ve been given. It’s infuriating. Ghostbur sees a villain (Wilbur, Philza, Eret) and he sees a hero (Tommy, Tubbo, also Philza) and he doesn’t know anything else.

Because Wilbur made him like that. On Purpose. I'm considering either generously blocking anyone who isn't a Lizzington shipper so I can breathe in the maintag or just not go there ever again. the only reason I was so physicall anxious was because of all the bullshit I had read in the maintag.

as for the sene with Katerina... I honestly don't even mind it that much. so what? he had a crush on her 30 years ago? they were childhood friends? they kissed in an incredibly emotional life-or-death situation? whatever.

The maintag is definitely to be avoided at all costs, especially when your ship is considered  creepy/disgusting or whatever terms those few people like to use.

About that R/K scene true I mean I didn’t like it but yeah tbh we have his name but we barely know who he was then and when I was trying to figure out what bothered me about the episode I realized that they’re telling us this is who Red was but I couldn’t reconcile this with the Red from now (even if I really loved his scenes and Gabriel Mann was the most perfect casting choice). 

But that’s just the point, like Liz says it doesn’t matter who he used to be.

As for his crush on, it definitely doesn’t matter. Besides Red said she died of weakness and shame, now that we know she didn’t drown, who knows what happened to her. And between her and Ilya after he successfully acquired RR’s money.

okay so firstly for context im a sc/p 03/5 fictive and gods the fandom is so weird about shipping?? not only are most of the ships really weird (people who ship my girlboyfriend with the 15 year old i am killing you die die die) this shit isnt about dating and romance and stuff we literally banded together for our survival its more found family than anything and theres like maybe 2 people on this hell site that can see that ?? the found/ation hated our guts and none of us could do anything about it by ourselves we literally had to work as a group

the characterisations in maintag are fucking weird too they make my whole personality being gay and ship me with someone who i was literally only friends with and also make me the "chaotic dumbass bastard" character which is also not cool like please you guys i got my soul stuck in a mask when i was like 12 i was traumatised?? we all were??? i also really dont like that the only canonically queer characters are 1) a stereotype and 2) te/rf-y ?? like its literally aroace murderer, and genderfluid because they swap bodies. that shit is WEIRD pls let us be queer bc we r queer and not for edge points .
