Girl help why is a fantasy setting using modern American gender terminology
They could've already bounced off of the existing term aqun-athlok and show the gender culture of the North largely adopting Qunari concepts as part of cultural exchange resulting from the literal hundreds of years of war with the Qun. The only openly transgender characters we know of are from Tevinter anyway! They already wanted to show the Qun in a more positive light in Veilguard, having Thedosian queer culture be primarily influenced by the Qun would be a great way to do exactly that

People who engage in queer discourse seriously need to be reminded of what being queer actually *is*.
It's not fitting into heteronormative standards.
It's not fitting into amatonormative standards.
It's not fitting into gender norms and doing stuff that makes YOU happy. It's taking control of your own body and doing what feels right instead of something that you felt forced/were forced into. This INCLUDES intersex people.
Just because you don't understand someone's identity does not mean you can't be supportive and it does NOT mean you get to tell people whether they do or don't belong in the queer community. They don't owe you thing about a DAMN thing in terms of an explanation in order to justify their queerness. If they say they're queer, they're queer. If not, they're not.
And again. This INCLUDES aro/ace/aroace spec people. It INCLUDES cishet aro/ace/aroace spec people.
It INCLUDES straight trans people. Anyone gnc who identifies with being straight or cis in any way. He/him lesbians, she/her gay dudes, agender people, pangender, it/its, who actually gives a fuck??
This INCLUDES intersex people.
This INCLUDES people who use neo pronouns/identities. It INCLUDES micro labels, even the most obscure ones you haven't heard of because you know what? They use it because it makes them feel good.
It INCLUDES the "cringe" people you think are too weird to be associated with. You can't make up someone's mind about whether they belong especially when they're disabled and have already been excluded from a lot of shit for most of their life, not to mention it's really insulting. Even if they're just "weird" or some shit and not disabled at all, still!! Don't be an asshole! I can't believe I have to say this to a group of people whose entire thing is acceptance and unconditional love for differences, but if you don't accept people in your own group who are different from you, you are the problem!!
Queer just means you don't fit into society's view of what "love" or your sense of self means and I PROMISE you that all these people and all others included in the LGBTQ *Plus* know themselves better than you do. You can ask, politely, if you're curious, but no one owes you an explanation and if they feel like they belong, just leave them be and ignore them if you're really so stuck-up you can't handle queer people who are "weird" or "different" to your idea of queer. Because if YOU are deciding who does and does not get to be included - in YOUR narrow idea of queerness - YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
Flag discourse and pronoun discourse and identity discourse other whiny little assholes complaining about this and that. None. Of. It. MATTERS. Go to a gay event irl or whatever and *no one is going to give a FUCK.* And if they do, they're not worth your time. I promise ipromiseipromise people irl are open to having actual intellectual conversations about identity and shit and the rhetoric of other queer people just telling you to KYS for using some label or some shit is only because the online world of pointless arguments is bleak and sad and devoid of the connection that actual complex people with feelings and unique experiences exist behind the screen. If you're one of these ignorant people, get better, and if you've ever been on the receiving end of this mind rot, it gets better.
The only way we will ever make a change towards a problem that actually matters, we have to forget the whole "UNITE AGAINST THE CRINGE ONES" narrative and open our eyes and stand together against the real oppressors.
Ridiculing people you hate because they're different will not help and will only hurt yourself in the long run.

Found a new, concise way of putting it that I'm gonna try and remember so I can reuse it:
To say, as a straight person, that a queer character's queerness is out of the blue or unrealistic is to claim that they understand the queer experience to be able to identify inaccurate representation of it.
To call a character's queerness out of the blue as a straight person is to claim full understanding of the queer experience.
#YOU ARE NOT A BAD ALLY FOR NOT KNOWING EVERYTHING. YOU'RE A GOOD ONE. IF YOU KNEW EVERYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE YOU GAY NOT AN ALLY.#QUEER PEOPLE ARE NOT JUST YOUR TICKETS TO ELEVATE YOURSELF AS AN ALLY ON THE OCCASIONS THAT YOU WANT TO#WE ARE NOT EVEN IN YOUR PEERS OFTEN. WE ARE YOUR EDUCATORS UNIVERSALLY NOT JUST ON DAYS YOU FEEL UP FOR ADMITTING YOU NEED EDUCATION.#THE DISPARITY IN OUR QUALIFICATIONS IS THAT OF A PROFESSOR AND A STUDENT#AS IS THE AUDACITY OF A STUDENT TO CLAIM EQUAL OR MORE QUALIFICATION#lgbtq#finding ways constantly to rephrase it so people understand why they are not qualified to even attempt to debate#stranger things#also btw this is mostly for straight people because it's an entire different category of this action but no queer person has had every quee#experience either so you can't tell other queer people they're wrong for saying queer characters are realistic either#they match your experience or they don't#straight people have ZERO experience though so it's entirely different because that requires some fucking AUDACITY to claim qualification#mike wheeler#kitty song covey#evan buckley#the entire point of needing more representation is so that you see versions of the queer experience you didn't know about as a straight per#on#we aren't just asking for the same singular queer experience but in a higher quantity across more genres#you have NOT learned everything because you are not able to and that does not make you a bad ally it just makes you a straight person#so when queer people tell you you're wrong DON'T. ARGUE.#'it's unrealistic for them to be queer' really? and list off the exclusive number of ways a person can be queer. right now. go.#people being comfortable with will byers because he represents a queer experience they've seen in the media before#but if they've never seen it on tv before it's 'unrealistic'#no hon. it's unrepresented. there is a very big difference and it's the entire point actually. your lack of education is not your fault but#your denial of it is#lgbtq representation

Thinking more about why I don't like this book I am reading and I think I know how I'd twist the premise to make it something I'd prefer. A woman has just had her divorce from her terrible ex-husband finalised and discovers she's pregnant. Wants to keep it, doesn't want her terrible husband having that foothold in her life, so her male friend from work (who she's had feelings for for years) suggests pretending that he is the father and having his name on the birth certificate.
She can refuse to do a paternity test while still pregnant because of bodily autonomy, and idk that someone can force the issue once a baby is born and they have no legal relationship to them, but also this is imaginary, so w/e.
Something, something, they fall in love for real and he is the stepdad who stepped up.
I like this so much better than "nice young teacher gets knocked up by a horrible billionaire who is mean to her and makes controlling ultimatums that change every five minutes" which honestly is a concept that reads as horror more than romance to me. Like, I get that lots of people really like this subgenre and I think it's tacky to be like "I can Elevate this trash that I hate and am above to teach all these idiots what they should like" hence why I went with "horrible ex-husband" (horrible exes: a romance staple!) as opposed to a more literal "please help me, I accidentally got pregnant with Elon Musk's baby when we were snowed in together and I didn't realise he was Literally Elon Musk" dunk.

anyway please show love to your queer and indigenous friends and show support for the groups and organizations trying to make a difference for these communities IN the states they live in. most of us don’t want to leave, and we shouldn’t HAVE to leave to be recognized as humans worthy of rights and respect and love, not just by our representatives but also by queer people (especially white people) in big cities in the north who assume their experiences are universal.

also… tiny little tidbit here but…
if you believe anything you’re told about something or someone without asking yourself or finding a source, or at least trying to find some sort of proof…
please please try to educate yourself before you get yourself or someone hurt… that naivety can be incredibly dangerous and is often used against you.
please be safe with what you believe others say on the internet, and please take care of yourself.

i'm thinking about what gi-hun and in-ho's homestuck god tier titles would be. for those who aren't insufferable like me, a brief explanation:
god tiers in homestuck are like ultimate challenges a person has to overcome. in order to reach god tier, you must learn to master the problem that a god tier title (represented by a class, like knight or bard, and an aspect, like time or life) represents
the two parts of one title work in tandem: the class affects how the aspect manifests, and the aspect affects how the player behaves as their class
for example, a knight of blood is going to act radically different from a knight of rage despite both being knights—while the knight always overcompensates for a perceived lack of their aspect by greatly exaggerating the aspect within themselves, for a blood player that means desperately insisting on leading their group (blood is symbolic of interpersonal relationships) despite feeling inadequate to actually perform the task. for a rage player that would mean lashing out to protect their vulnerabilities (as rage is symbolic for, well, negative emotions like anger), despite not naturally being an angry person
and although a prince of mind and a sylph of mind both share the aspect of mind (symbolising rational thought, mental proficiency and logic), they treat their aspect very differently—princes destroy their aspect within others, or destroy things with their aspect, meaning a prince of mind is a cunning individual who can manipulate others into acting irrationally, or literally breaking someone's mind using their own intellect and rhetorical prowess. a sylph, on the other hand, heals their aspect in others, and heals others using their aspect, meaning they are more like a therapist or an older mentor figure that gives wise advice (although a sylph's undoing is their inability to let go of their aspect, meaning a lot of their help is unsollicited or unwanted)
for in-ho, i would instinctively assign him the aspect of heart. heart is about identity and one's own emotions. possessing the heart aspect means that your main personal problem revolves around your identity and where you stand in relation to others. many of the heart players in the homestuck canon have a fragmented sense of self for this reason. this would make sense for in-ho, who buries his true self under figurative and literal masks and alter egos—to the point where he is probably unsure of whom he is anymore. not sure about his class yet, although bard sounds logical for him, since bards cause destruction with their aspect, or cause the destruction of their aspect proper—like princes, but passively
for gi-hun, my first thought was blood, but i honestly don't think that fits, because his relationships with others and his ability to create unity is not actually a problem for him; it's one of his defining characteristics, i'd say. given the developments of season two, i'm tempted to give him the doom aspect instead, as doom symbolises the choices we make, and the uncertaintly surrounding those choices and their outcomes, and goddamn if that isn't gi-hun's nemesis currently. i'd have to properly sit down to think about it (when it isn't nearly 3am)
so, ahem. i am normal again

All that being said. That one account is probably a troll, but if anyone from outside of dreblr saw that clown I have one thing to say to you:
You are welcome to participate in dreblr and all events that it may create in the future. Or course, be respectful of others and their opinions, but we do not want to be a closed off community
I get if you get nervous about interacting after seeing us dogpile that clown but I swear we're nice if you don't come into our house demanding we change the furniture and calling us freaks :]

The problem isn't even that people in Britain and America reach their twenties and don't know obvious stuff it's that instead of going "oh shit, my worldview is limited" and researching major cities in Africa or the increasing hostilities to the queer community in Eastern Europe, they say "it's not MY FAULT, it's the school I left ten years ago!" And continue to not know anything about major cities in Africa and the increasing hostilities to the queer community in Eastern Europe

People from all across the world being able to freely travel to Israel, join the IDF, and participate in a genocide with no repercussions is such a difficult concept for me to wrap my mind around
