Headcanons

Silas' prosthetic arm (not his cybernetic one) has some small marks and knicks that resemble teeth - canine teeth to be exact. Silas sometimes uses his fake arm to play fetch with his pooch, Buddy - it's one of Buddy's favorite 'toys'.

One time, Buddy accidentally scared a couple at the dog park when he passed by them returning the prosthetic to his owner. Silas had to awkwardly explain that his dog had not grabbed a random person's fake limb and was using it as a chew toy - it didn't settle the nerves of the couple. One would think Silas would learn not to let Buddy play with his arm at the park...

Silas doesn't learn lessons well.

Hello again Fab! Loved reading your thoughts about Infamous band headcanons- thanks! Following that- you mentioned a love for the 'contemporary indigenous music scene.' It made me curious about who your favs were! Do you have any recs (for those of us who may be unfamiliar) or any particular artists/groups/tracks you would wanna shoutout? :D

ok so quick disclaimer: i am far, far from an expert on indigenous music and i am myself not indigenous which like the music im going to share is, i am just very enthusiastic about the fact this music exists and i think it's really cool what people are doing with it. there's a lot i can't cover here and i would really implore anyone interested in this, particularly if you like anything here, to look into what indigenous people are saying and suggesting (or even look into what indigenous musicians themselves are sharing!)

so how this is going to work is im going to imbed a video per band/group/musician and then link some more songs to listen to, because that way no one has to jump off the post and you can get the general vibe of the group before listening to more!

though this will make the post kinda long, even with me trying to be brief, so i put it under a cut!

now onto the rest of the post!

my first recommendation is probably halluci nation, they're probably the one people know of the most? i also recommend them first because they're who i heard first. their song electric pow wow drum was in commercials and stuff for a minute. they do like a mix of pow wow music and dubstep, which i think is really cool.

i'm going to immediately break my rules but that's purely because these two are my favorite of their songs and i think more people need to hear them (also the art is really cool and by artist nalakwsis):

Also honestly their entire album, We are The Halluci Nation, is worth a listen to. Here's the first song off the album to give you not exactly the vibe you're in for but really just a strong thesis statement to what the group, and the album, is about

There's also Tanya Tagaq. I think she's fairly known? Her work heavily features throat singing! Her work has been featured in some films and stuff (you might remember the first song I'll post from commercials for Thoroughbreds):

I also think people are generally unaware people are still making traditional music, in traditional ways! For that I would like to turn attention to some of these songs:

i also legally cannot make this post without mentioning redbone, the band behind hit come and get your love, who were themselves entirely indigenous and blacklisted after making the song we were all wounded at wounded knee

and again like there's tons and tons more artists, this is just a brief mention of some of the ones i first heard and some of the ones i'm interested in listening to more of and what not. like with any minority, where there is a music genre, you will find indigenous people making music there so if any of this interest I recommend googling around and seeing what people are talking about in indigenous circles, in music circles, who the musicians are collabing with, etc etc

i just think it's really cool that this is happening because, historically, there's been a lot of bans and limitations on what indigenous people were allowed to do with their cultures so it's really cool to see people doing stuff like this.

I remember the starfish

I love Fire Emblem Fates. My favorite is Awakening, but Fates has a special place in my heart for all of its flaws, and plotholes I love to poke at. No malice meant, if I didn't care, I'd probably just leave it alone. Instead it takes up so much brainspace.

So I think I might want to write something a bit more themed another time, but for now I want to write some scattered thoughts.

First, If I were going to change just one thing, I would give Azura ,Kaze as a retainer. And Shura.

Why? It bugs me that she didn't have any retainers, and Corrin has 3 household staff, their teacher, a childhood best friend, and a Ninja, most of whom are willing to follow them even if they defect. That's pretty excessive, that they just have a small- personally loyal fighting force. And Kaze's just hanging around, a trained retainer not assinged to anyone. And really Mikoto, Azura is your niece, you can give her one retainer at least.

Kaze defecting to Nohr to protect his charge makes arguably more sense then his reasons for defecting to Nohr on Corrins behalf.

Azura recruiting Shura as a retainer, fits with the older of the Nohrian sibilings having a criminal retainer. They also have a personal history between them that would be intresting to explore in a support. A support with Ryoma would also be intresting, as Shura states his family used to serve the royal family until his principality was taken over by Mokushu, so learning more about that would be neat.

Speaking of retainers, Despite three Nobrian Siblings havinging a criminal as a retainer, the person with the weirdest retainers is Hinoka, for having the least retainer-like retainers in the game. And Ryoma has 2 ninjas as retainers, which perhaps says some odd things about his diplomatic choices.

Hinoka does her own chores, protects her retainers, and seems to barely know anything about Azama beforehand. Until we learn from her support with Niles in Revelations that Hinoka hired Setsuna for her skill in archery, I was almost convinced she was hired to annoy Takumi.

And yet they are the last retainers sticking around the Hoshidan royals when they are recruited in Revelations.

Hillarious. Baffling. Lends a diffrent weight to Hinokas support with Saizo in this route, not that it wasn't already weird, but there was more cause for suspicion.

Speaking of supports, Sakura takes Corrin's amnesia as a sign that Silas is cursed. Meanwhile, in Birthright Takumi gets mindwhammied and dragon posessed, and Sakura does nothing to try to help. Which to be fair, nither instance lasted long. Who knows if she could have done anything effective, but in the Conquest one she doesn't seem to take note of his dirastically changed attitude as something to worry about, yet was far quicker to diagnose Silas as "something was off. Maybe its cause Silas a stranger, and she doesn't want to see anything wrong with her closest brother, but I wonder what got her attention in the first place to draw that conclusion.

I haven't played Engage, but even without that I am pretty sure Corrin is the most watched avatar we have ever played. Their big sister Camilia and her retainers makes it 3 in a lifetime, as said by Selena/Severa.

"Selena: Lady Camilla! Sorry we got ahead of you. But you should have heard the horrible things Lord/Lady Corrin said to us. Even though we used to watch over them, they don't remember us at all. Sure, we always stuck to the shadows and never introduced ourselves... but still! I could cry right now. Really! I really could!

Beruka: All that time hovering... caring... watching... it was all for naught. They has no heart.

Camilla: Now, now, you two. I'm sure they didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm certain they would remember, given more time. You simply must forgive them."

No wonder Corrin is so chill with Ryoma's Ninjas and other people following them around.

A headcanon, Odin/Owain can use dragon Veins. Anankos can hide his brand, but he can't undo that he is decended from the Exalted line of Ylisse, a heritige who also formed a pact which presumably involved drinking dragons blood. (That does seem to be a series consistant for how one gets a stats edge, with consent of the dragon being pretty important in how well they control it. )

He uses it once by accident. Leo did see it, but never confronts him on it. Maybe they might be siblings, but if this is what kept him alive and he's happy with living his life, then Leo isn't going to be the one to tell anyone. One of them may as well be happy.

If I were going to change something about the Fates Kids, I would mess with Shiro. Ryoma never told him until recruitment that he was royalty. So what if Shiro, figuring Ryoma is impotant, but not connecting the dots (as in cannon) comes to the (incorrect) conclusion that he is the next Saizo. And so comes with the Ninja class, alomg with some family drama, lol.

I would also tone down Soleil's supports, and add some depths to the other kids, but ninja Shiro creating some family drama with the retainers is a concept that amuzes me

📝: How would your story in canon go? How would you influence the events of the original story?

My s/i takes the most active role when she first appears, helping Breakdown and the others escape MECH. That's really it as far as moving the entire story along outside of Starscream and a handful of sweet interactions with the kids and the Autobots Outside of that I can't think of a way she would be super integral to the story as a whole narrative, and that's okay! She would still be important, but I go into that more in the other answers!

🤪: What is your trait that fanon would exaggerate?

My s/i is very #traumatized so I think that would be exaggerated. I do not shy away from her painful upbringing thanks to Silas and the pain she's had to endure working with MECH -- it's all a huge part of her arc. Kinda like how (well at least I assume from a handful of memes I've seen) people will do with Arcee and her grappling with the loss of not just one friend and partner, but TWO. (Loss in general is a big theme throughout the series, but Arcee represents it the most.) It goes without saying that a civil war that's lasted millions of years is bound to impact those involved, so all the Cybertronian characters have something.

However, my s/i is really the only human character who has her own comparable issues and I am entirely speculating especially because I do try to steer clear of fandoms nowadays and just use Tumblr for self ship, but I do think that would cause her to be portrayed as The Sad One among the humans in TFP ... even though she isn't mopey at all.

🌦️: Would you be accompanied by mostly fluff or angst fanfics? Both? Explain why.

I feel like a lot of people are of the same mind as me in that we get cuteness aggression every time we see him and want him to just calm down a little JKDDFD so for that reason I think we'd get a lot of fluff fics! But there's soooooooo much angst potential for us it's not even funny

💘: Why would people love your ship? Why would people dislike your ship? How might it start debates?

Why people would love it: regarding my last answer, some people just know that Star would do well if he had a sweet companion who loved him and grounded him. And that would be ME, always. He's very lonely, and I know a lot of it is due to his ego kinda pushing everyone away, and he isn't very impressed by or interested in anyone, but Star is a very lonely character across the board. I mean, even Megatron gets along with other Cons and has a comradery with them that Star just doesn't. I think people would understand that he just needs someone steady And! Everyone loves to see a big bad villain absolutely crumble for someone, especially someone as unexpected as me, a human who was once (outwardly) loyal to an organization that tortured one of his own and intended to do the same with the rest.

Why people would hate it: On the other hand, people get BIIIIIIIIIIG huge ginormous mad or at least standoffish if you so much as feel even a sliver of sympathy for Starscream, like I know he's terrible and not everyone gets it, but have a heart man... or at least chill. We don't all gain the same things from media. Sometimes I just think he deserves to not be beaten nearly to death everyday. Sue me

Also "getting in the way of [ship I personally like/headcanon I personally hold about robot sexuality] HOW DARE YOU!1!!!111!!1" The latter of which, and the sympathy thing, I have experienced to my face

I know about Star in Armada and how he did make friends with humans (haven't seen it but plan to!) but this would be the first time a Decepticon truly has a deep, profound connection with a human. It goes beyond friendship; though, we are also best friends, we are family and we eventually form a sparkbond (or as close as we can get. I still call it that).

I also think it would speak a lot to redemption and change, which are hinted at in TFP and especially Earthspark later on. A few times throughout TFP, Optimus talks about letting enemies be free to change and giving them the compassion and opportunity to do so. Our relationship being canon would be an actual example of that... and it wouldn't just be about Star, but it would be about me, too. We both end up becoming at least a tiny bit better through each other (though my s/i was never truly evil like him, he still helped her become closer to the person she wants to be). I think about it a lot 🥺🩶🩷

ough i absolutely ADORE garnet. my thoughts on her are pretty simple. i just like her. but they are all positive ehehehe shes so COOL, i love when a female character dresses in traditionally masculine clothes, especially in historical settings. and she's a lesbian. to me <3

i dont know that i really have one? tbh i think garnet, as a whole, is very hard to characterize. i dont tend to love other people's depiction of her in fan works, but i also do not like my depiction of her lmaooo ill go back through her episodes and take some notes on characterization mayhaps

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

i would love for garnet to, in character, confirm that she was raised by a single dad! no real preference on what happened with her mom, just. single dad. girldad. i just think that would be neat :] (has this happened, actually. am i just forgetting something. head in hands. i need to rewatch deadlands before the new season comes out)

How I feel about this character

lug has a special place in my heart... for being the only mike PC who does not have a special place in my heart XD that being said, i think he's fantastic, even if he doesnt grab me the way that eggy and silas and barney do. i love mike playing a more serious character while still having that goofy edge, i LOVE the concept of a passive aggressive barbarian, and he's fun to draw <333

i dont think i particularly have one! i generally agree with what other people say about him. so instead, i will give a headcanon that i brainstormed with my dear spouses dora and hop - i think lug is pretty short for a firbolg, so he doesn't see himself as big as he is. cressida or happen make some joke or complaint about being short and he tries to join in and cressida gets so mad XD

Unofficial Sleep Token Headcanon/Lore

A guide to AruEternity's Vessels

Hello lovies, I am taking inspo from one of my friends here. Everyone has their own versions of the vessels and their own ocs, I just would like to share mine with yall! So everything you read here is ALL HEADCANONS!! Please keep that in mind during this. I will be using names that I hope and pray aren’t the actual vessels' names, (I will cry if it is and most likely change them.) But again this is just how I see my boys; none of this is solid or finished yet. Little lore overview, none of the vessels are human anymore due to their past and their meeting with Sleep. Sleep in this version is a rouge god who typically follows the idea of having angels under him/to help him. He can change people and remake them similarly to how he is doing with the vessels. If Sleep were to go without a vessel or a connection to a vessel for a long period of time he becomes weak and slowly dies. It is the idea that for a god to live, they need followers. All the vessels change in their own ways and are molded by Sleep to fit what he wants out of them. He can reset the timeline if he deems the vessels to be defective/not up to standard. The timeline so far has been reset roughly 100 times, the only ones with active memory of this is Sleep and his angels.

Vessel

Name - Elliot Burns

Age - 28

Height - 6’2

Personality -

Spreactic and almost loving aggressive. His devotion to Sleep distracts him often so he is normally seen as quiet and or loving to the others. While he doesn’t like being alone he is okay with it sometimes… Other times it brings up the anxious part of himself. Super affectionate and loving but in a “please don’t notice” way. Becomes slightly violent when things are no longer in his control/he cannot understand them/

Connection to Sleep -

Sleep’s main vessel, the one who he always turns to. Elliot was the first real worshipper of Sleep gaining him a strong connection to the deity. Their relationship is a toxic “I cannot live without you” type. 

Transformation -

3 total sets of eyes are similarly placed where his mask is, all glowing with soft white light. The bottom half of his face is skinned leaving his teeth exposed. As for his teeth, his K9s go down past his bottom lip and are extremely sharp. Emits a gentle black smoke from his mouth and body. Giant split down the middle of his chest, breastbone to belly button, this is where a closed human eye sits and never opens.

Mini backstory - Very short 

Elliot was an obsessive lover, going out of his way to make anything come true for his girlfriend of the time. They had been together for a while before she started to pull away slowly. This caused an extreme fight with them and a car crash that injured his lover. Shortly after they ended up breaking up due to her blaming him for everything and finally coming clean she didn’t love him for him. Elliot in a fit of anger began to search for ways to get her back and to make her love him. Unfortunately, nothing worked, not even the magic research he did. That was until one-night Sleep came to him in a dream and guided him to someone who could guide him to him.

Name - Silas Palmer 

Age - 24

Height - 5’6

Personality 

The calmest out of all the vessels. Seems always to be sitting alone trying to draw and or get high. He doesn’t personally care for the drama but is the one everyone comes to when there is something going wrong. Very “wise” and helps guide others. Silas does have a Playboy vibe and will act on it on rare occasions. 

Connection to Sleep -

Sleep’s second most trusted vessel. However, their relationship is strained due to the forcefulness of Silas’ connecting/bonding with Sleep. Silas has forgiven Sleep after years of struggling with the aftermath, seeing the pack as the only ones he needs due to their willingness to accept his gender identity. 

Transformation -

Skinned mouth starting from just behind his teeth. Stretch marks from the stress of the mouth going closer into/near his eyes. A sewed shut-eye in the middle of his forehead that softly glows and moves behind the lid. Smaller cuts/scars scattering his body where eyes would grow if needed. Many of the scars are from fights with the other vessels. 

Mini backstory -

Growing up in the incorrect body had caused him many issues with friends and family. Many did not understand or chose to understand how Silas was feeling. It was a constant struggle throughout high school and college. Eventually, he was able to save up enough money by working himself exhausted to get top surgery. While being the happiest moment in his life so far, he was no longer in contact with his old friends or family. Silas was disowned for finally achieving his dream. Slowly he turned to alcohol to ease the pain of being alone. Eventually, he was able to meet someone who he thought would love him for him. Unfortunately, the relationship turned abusive after Silas was unable to quit drinking. His girlfriend pushed him away after hitting him many times over again.

III

Name - (Finn)egan Ridge

Age - 23

Height - 6’4

Personality -

The fun-loving chaos-causing type of person. He loves to play jokes and is always hyper no matter what. He does have moments when he is calm but most of the time he isn’t. Loves to do things he thinks others will laugh at.

Connection to Sleep -

Sleep’s third vessel. Sleep sees him as an entertaining person who gains the attention of many people. While this can be fun at times, he does also punish him often when he is “annoying.” Believes III needs to be safe but also wants to hurt him by influencing the others. 

Transformation -

Asides from the deep ashy black that covers most of his chest and back, he is etched with the language of Sleep. His body being covered by some stories told by Sleep. The language mostly covers his arms and legs, while he does also have thick lettering wrapping around his wrist. At the base of his neck/collarbone and his lower back, there is a small area where a possible eye could form.

Mini backstory -

Was the miracle baby that his family had always wanted. Ended up doing everything for them and tried his best. After going into college he learned it wasn’t for him so his grades started to slip and he fell into using heavy drugs. Slowly he turned into the college drug dealer which got him kicked out. His family had still sent him money because he never told them. Eventually after becoming very popular in his dealings, he was able to gain a lot of money. With this money, he bought and used drugs alongside buying prostitutes for himself. After hiring the wrong person, they forced him to attempt to OD, he was turned into a prostitute himself after “saving his life” Here he met someone he deemed ‘‘Sugar” and enjoyed the buyer's company. Sadly the pimp he worked for did not like this and killed Finn in front of Sugar.

IV 

Name - Felix Payne 

Age - 27

Height - 6’0

Personality -

He is seen as aggressive and quiet. Felix is mostly angry at himself rather than others, making him quiet and always anxious. He fears that one day he’ll up and leave like his father did again. Felix is anxiously attached to everyone but refuses to let them in. Though he can be loving at times he holds those close for the fear of losing the moment. 

Connection to Sleep -

Sleep’s 4th vessel. He sees him similarly as Elliot, with a strong connection even though he is not the strongest vessel. Sleep pities the boy so he picks him to use whenever he is feeling especially angry. Which in turn has turned Felix into an even more angry person. 

Transformation -

Has gold and red bands inked into his body that circles his wrist, fingers, ankles, thighs, and neck. They are technically not tattoos just an add-on to the already deep ashy black that they are all changing to. While he doesn’t have eyes on his body, he does have a moon shape (the moon logo) under his chin/jaw area. As a punishment or if Sleep is feeling it, the golden bands on his neck slowly turn into a thorn crown that rests on his eyes. It rarely happens since he tries not to upset Sleep. 

Mini backstory -

Had a mostly good life besides having to deal with a dad who left and came back 24/7. He was forced into playing the perfect family, this later turned into his own form of trauma and learning. Once he was older he got a good-paying job that had long hours and split an apartment with a college student. Didn’t mind paying for everything. He ends up lashing out at all of his friends and is diagnosed with severe anxiety, depression, and some anger issues, all similar to his father. Eventually, one day he decides to leave after he can no longer handle the stress of himself, this is where he meets Vessel after wandering for hours.

V 

Name - Kieran Wiggs

Age - 26

Height - 5’11

Personality -

A goofy unhinged boy. He is extremely loving in all the wrong ways. Kieran is passionate but loses motivation extremely quickly. He relies on the others to help him during his rough moments. If he were to become too angry he relapses into a rage episode and attempts to harm or kill the other vessels. Unhinged but loveable in moments. 

Connection to Sleep -

Sleep’s 5th vessel, sees him as just another one of the people he can use. Kieran doesn’t really mind him at all and sometimes is extremely thankful for him. He does wish he could get his memories back but Sleep refuses and says he will not have a defective vessel. 

Transformation -

Has the band’s moon-type symbol on his forehead, the darkening to ashy black stops just under his chin before it spikes into a deep black across his face. 

Mini backstory -

Had a very happy and popular childhood/teen years. Kieran was known for his musical abilities and later made a band called Dreamer’s Archive with a few friends. Their band became popular but died out after the disappearance of their lead singer Kieran. Turns out his girlfriend of 3 months had dragged him away and turned abusive. Forcing him to take more drugs and numb him. She slowly began to turn him into basically a slave for money. Letting people do whatever they wanted to him as long as they paid. Kieran couldn’t do anything to stop it due to the constant drugs in his system. He had a final straw moment and ran away while trying to OD.

VII

Name - Cole Lindsey 

Age - 25

Height - 6’5

Personality - 

Spitfire aggressive vessel. Cole often times tries to start fights with anyone he does not deem in his “circle” and or is not trustworthy. He always attempts to gain his old life back so he can feel the same freedom. Can be very flirty at times but if he is not growling/hiss or flirting, he is extremely quiet. Brooding almost but just does not have a lot to say.

Connection to Sleep -

Very unsure of him, 7 being a holy number his bond/connection is nearly as strong as Vessel’s. He is weary of him and chooses to act as though he does not exist sometimes. Cole oftentimes is forced into a trance due to acting against Sleep.

Transformation -

He is covered in scars, everything from his past life. Due to his scars being so many and some so wide, they are slowly turning into open eyes. They move independently to one another and blink/glare. The larger of his scars are opened into fanged mouths with long tongues. Dark black fingertips that slowly fade up to his elbow. His body is cold to the touch. His real/nature eyes are clouded over as though he is blind. 

Mini backstory -

He didn’t have the best home life so he picked to do anything to make money. In his part of the world he was able to join many underground and illegal organizations such as underground boxing, motorcycle and drift car racing. Had dated the girlfriend of the revival ground and ended up killing her after he forced herself onto his life during a race. They slid and she (Maddy) had hit a wall and broke her neck and split open her chest. Come tried to save her but ended up accidentally pushing her ribs into her heart. He was later killed by her boyfriend and his body was tossed into a river to decompose.

Angel(s)

Name - Velika (Ragnar)

Age - Unkown

Height - 5’1

Personality -

Soft and bubbly in moments, very playful. She is known to crawl things and be very independent. Hard-headed and refuses to take no for an answer. 

Stubborn independence bubble. She is known to want to do things her own way and will not stop till the task is complete. She does not care for help since she grew up believing in fighting for one's self. A dominant personality that often times climbs counters to get a laugh out of her friends/lovers.

Connection to Sleep -

Is forced into following him through timelines and watches her children die.

Gunter/Corrin is still my ride or die OTP to end all OTP's buuut there are some other ideas through these playthroughs ~

Gunter/Flora is still nibbling at my mind, whether it's a platonic scene or if something romantic naturally develops out of those DLC holiday supports. contrary to the translator's comments i don't see Flora's offer to take care of him being familial-related at all. :p a lot of Flora's lines in general across the routes are dedicated to Jakob being somebody she pines for, so imagine the meat you'd get when she gets to know who trained Jakob and was essentially his dad (lol). delicious semi-sweet, semi-skeevy potential there! (doubly so if you take the more morbid interpretation and have flora projecting her jakob feelings on him and then gunter projecting his corrin feelings on her.) they're both quite shy about their feelings so I don't know if either one of them would actually work up the courage for anything more than an unusual amount of chemistry, but I could see low key not-really-serious flirting that they secretly enjoy.

For very complicated grief-related reasons (possibly a meta post after this fic?) I can't really see Gunter sticking around long post-game if he doesn't have a romantic anchor to be a reason for existence, but I can see Flora genuinely being a notable exception.

haven't even touched on the fact that both of them betray Corrin in at least one if not more routes (and still love and care for her anyways), so there's that emotional coldness/pragmatism to also play with.

Gunter&Azura - last playthrough of Rev really made me realize just how many parallels they have. :o both perceived as/are traitors, both keep really tragic secrets about their families for decades, both don't come anywhere to showing their whole "self" even if married or in just one route.

there's also that bit how Azura was stolen away from Nohr as a child and how Gunter blames himself a little bit for that. like. what's up with that, how would Azura take that? Would she forgive him for his particular betrayal against her post-Revelation?

also think a support conversation between Gunter&Silas would be super cool because I strongly headcanon he was the one to nearly execute the poor boy after getting in trouble for sneaking Corrin out. Silas keeps mentioning in all routes how the guards nearly had him killed, and Gunter's kind of the de-facto castle commander (or so the routes imply). Would Silas be nervy about meeting him again? Would Gunter be able to genuinely apologize (would he feel the need to?) Would they be able to move on and reminisce about Corrin?

In a similar way, Gunter&Jakob's got underutilized potential but I haven't quite cracked that nut there. there is one amazing as hell porn fic with them that i know about though :D

Honestly, this connects with a lot of previous analysis I've done on Starscream's character:

Firstly, I don't think this is the first time in Decepticon history that he's 'gone rogue', so to speak. Megatron just doesn't come after him because he knows Starscream will be back (as most abusive relationships are, Starscream finds it hard to leave, since he defines so much of himself with Megatron--four million years of intertwined history, I think is a long, long time). The thing is, Starscream also knows he'll come back, too. Because that's how it is, isn't it? But then he loses his T-Cog to Silas, and all of a sudden, the usual routine of 'defect, wait a bit, come back with something good for the Decepticons' has been disturbed, and Starscream's terrified.

Now consider this: Starscream is a Seeker, and Seekers are generally accepted to be communal creatures. This might be a bit of my own headcanon coming in, but Starscream doesn't have anyone for the majority of season 2, and after a certain point, he doesn't have his wings, either (another thing Seekers identify themselves with, and given the way Starscream expresses himself through them, they are an intrinsic part of him that was almost lost with the loss of his t-cog). Both things he defines himself with--his wings and those surrounding him--are gone, so what does he define himself with now?

Obviously the cause he's been fighting on the side of for four million years, right? He defines himself with Megatron, the mech who has been such a core part of his life for those years, right? So much of what Starscream does is rooted in Megatron's approval, so really, it wasn't too big a push over the edge that made him become loyal, so to speak. (Personally, I think that Megatron saving him in the cave wasn't even too big of a catalyst. It was something that might've gotten Starscream loyal for 2-3 weeks at most, but having it as the first step? Followed by everything else in season 2? Yeah.)

Now, when he goes back to the Decepticons (because he ain't going to the Autobots, who are his literal ideological enemies and whose kin he basically killed in spades) Megatron basically gives him his wings back. I cannot stress this enough, he gives Starscream his t-cog back, and now that this t-cog (and therefore his ability to fly) has been defined with Megatron, what is Starscream now, if not in Megatron's debt? Already did he pledge loyalty (with the cave as the catalyst, and everything else following), now he's genuinely on Megatron's side.

Now, that's not to say that Megatron doesn't have his own thing going on. I'm pretty sure he has no idea what he did to Starscream. I'm pretty sure he still takes Starscream to be the treacherous wretch he's been for the past four million years, because it's hard to rid oneself of such stereotypes or impressions, especially when you're not there to see the character development for it. I'm not justifying Megatron in his treatment of Starscream, nor am I justifying Starscream in his a-holery, but it's a whole mess of loyalty and terrible mental states that I find so absurdly interesting. More analysis later, maybe. I'm tired. Need to write an essay or whatever.

I’ll always be obsessed with the fact that Predaking would’ve 100% killed Megatron here if Starscream didn’t intervene using one of his missiles.

Starscream saved his life. He literally saved Megatron (the person who physically abused him and psychologically broke him), even when he had nothing to truly gain from it.

Sure, you could make the argument that Starscream just didn’t want Predaking to turn on him after he killed Megatron.

But the thing is…

This is a genuine look of concern. And he never showed any signs of betrayal or any ambition to usurp him in Season Three. Plus, he was genuinely distraught when Megatron was stabbed by Bumblebee during the show’s finale.

And how does Megatron repay him for rescuing him? He doesn’t. He just shoves him to the side, even when Starscream moved out of his way beforehand.

If you look closely, you can even see the slight expression of fear on his face.

It’s such a subtle detail, but literally says so much.

Headcanons

Silas learned to cook at a young age, his mother wanting him to have that skill so he hopefully wouldn't be as lazy or as bad as his father in the kitchen. His mother mainly focused on German, Swedish, and Hungarian cuisines but always encouraged him to dabble in other types of food from different cultures and countries.

Silas' favorite dish to make is Kroppkakor (Kropp-ka-kor according to the internet), a traditional Swedish boiled potato dumpling, most commonly filled with onions and meat. Potatoes, wheat flour, onion, salt and minced meat/pork are common ingredients and served with butter (melted), lingonberry jam or heavy cream. It is his comfort food.

Headcanons: Silas Drake

Part of the deal Silas made with Frank Borash (the name the man gave Silas when he first met him ; Silas hasn’t yet found out that this is an alias) and the organization he worked with didn’t just include his cybernetic prosthetic arm, the surgeons also manipulated Silas’ DNA, which include enhancements such as

- enhanced strength - enhanced reflexes - enhanced agility - heightened sense of awareness - and an implemented regenerative healing factor that is a capable of healing such injuries like broken bones, gunshot and stab wounds to a certain certain extent much quicker.

These enhancements have made Silas a better fighter and a better marksman - but most importantly to the organization, their perfect yet expendable killer.

His artificial arm is also equipped with a build in hidden blade as well as a makeshift taser.  He controls his arm (which is attached from just below his elbow) with special sensors that detect tiny naturally generated electric signals in his muscles and nerves, allowing him to generate movement similar to his real arm.

-Your most wail-worthy Adar moment of TROP Season 1 or 2

He died! 😭 I don't think I'll ever get over it - not after all the build up and the amazing redemption arc he had. I hear what everyone says about it mirroring what he did to Sauron, but so what? It wasn't a befitting end for such a great OC.

However - TBH I think EVERY scene that Adar features in is wail-worthy (in S2 - and I'll explain that in question 3, but it's no slight on S1 Adar). The scenes where he speaks elvish and black speech... OMG 🔥. His chemistry and interactions with other characters. His tenderness coupled with ferocity on the battlefield! All of it.

I can't watch his scenes without wailing (for happy or sad reasons!)

Very much like @itwillbeourswansong - It's Adar's huge capacity for love that gets me. We only see his physical scars, but his emotional and psychological ones are likely much worse. Yet, through all that he retains enough heart and soul to dedicate his entire existence to loving the unlovable. At no point do you feel that he would walk away or stop caring. He's capable of malice, of course, and, in many ways, he's ruthless, but always with the underlying motive of providing for his children.

He knows he's broken - when he says to Glug 'with all that is left of my heart', it feels to me like an acknowledgement. And I think when he puts on Nenya and feels whole-hearted again, it intensifies his capacity for love even more. So much so that he proposes peace - a safe place for every being in middle earth.

His patience is also noteworthy - I mean, he's lived thousands of years with an uncivilised bunch of violent kids! But he's always so calm and patient. And he's smart - one minute he's negotiating with a troll, then he's quoting poetry and calling people beautiful, then he's leading his armies into battle - It's high-level competency porn!

-At what point did you realize that you had become a hopeless Baddydaddy Devotee and lost control of your entire life?

Ok, so I am a very late latecomer!!

In season 1, I was intrigued by Adar, but more in conjunction with the 'who is Sauron' mystery. I do remember thinking his haunted look was heartbreaking and wondering what his backstory was.

When season 2 started and I saw Sam as Adar, I instantly clicked with his voice - that was the first thing I noticed and I even remember saying to my husband that I liked the sound of him. BUT even then, I wasn't fully awakened. After the 'Elen Sila Lumenn' moment, I sat up a bit more and was like, ok... what's happening here? Then next episode, when Galadriel got him by the neck, I started thinking, hang on, why am I craving more scenes with him... Which I was rewarded with in Ep 7. And that one was the clincher. After his scenes in that, I was convert and I started rotting my brain on everything I could get hold of in relation to Adar (just in time for him to die next episode 😭😭😭NOOOOOOOOOO).

I've now rewatched every S2 scene so many times and am completely and hopelessly devoted to our BaddyDaddy.... I need to do a complete season 1 rewatch with all this in mind, because I feel I don't remember enough of the details.

Season 2 episodes 6&7 were also when i jumped off the Haladriel ship and boarded Adariel (where I've been firmly ever since!). But I also love how Adar gets shipped with EVERYONE. Because it affirms my own thoughts about how attractive a person is when they have a noble heart, even if it's corrupted. (...And of course he's a hot bastard which helps too!!)

Headcanons: Silas Drake

Silas’ cybernetic arm was equipped with a hidden, extendable and retractable blade, an implement to his prosthetic that he primarily used to dispatch his targets in a quiet manner while he was being mind controlled. When he was ‘awake’, he did not know of the blade thus he wouldn’t figure out how to activate it - unlike in his brainwashed state. After regaining his consciousness, the mind control chip in his brain destroyed by a traumatic head injury he suffered in prison, Silas was told by doctors of his secret attachment, which they could not figure out how to remove without destroying his cybernetic arm. 

Silas not only kept his cybernetic arm after he was released from his sentence, but would go on to use the blade to his advantage - if he was going to hunt for the truth against the people that ruined his life, why not use their own creation against them?

Additionally, after being released from prison, Silas found a way for his cyber arm to be detachable, replacing it with a normal prosthetic for him to use while he’s working on cars and greeting customers. The decision was influenced not only by the trauma he suffered from his wife��s murder, whether he actually committed it or not, but also the general hesitation and apprehension of others he’s experienced prior to his prison sentence.

Devyn and Saeclus' Children

I am sooo excited for this one, you don't even know. Me and @secretarykang have talked about this a few times and I can't help but share these headcanons with you

They have three children. Two sons and one daughter.

Originally, they wanted to have two, but Devyn's second pregnancy turned out to be twins.

Their first son, Silas, was born two years before the twins. He has Devyn's soft blonde hair, and otherwise, looks exactly like Saeclus. Sharp eyes and delicate features.

His name was chosen by Saeclus, and it's the shorter form of the name Silvanus, who is the "Roman god of the forests". Though it could also be the Greek version of the name Saul, meaning "asked for" or "prayed for".

Silas also acts like Saeclus, and he was the calmest and happiest baby. So well-behaved and quiet and lively that Devyn and Saeclus were convinced parenting is always that easy.

And then along came the twins, a daughter and a son, to change that whole thought process.

Funnily enough, neither Devyn nor Saeclus had any idea that she was pregnant with twins, so it came as quite the surprise in the delivery stage. Though, neither of them minded much.

The daughter is named Aurora and the son Dante. They both have Saeclus' hair color, Aurora looks the most like Devyn out of all the siblings, while Dante is a perfect mix of Saeclus and Devyn's features.

Aurora means "the dawn" in Latin and was the "Roman goddess of the morning". And Dante is the shortened form of Italian Durante which means "enduring".

Aurora and Dante are absolute chaos children, completely unlike the calm and non-troublesome Silas, and they raise all hell for Devyn and Saeclus even as toddlers.

As stated before, the three kids have distinctly different personalities.

Silas is the most like their father. He's calm, compassionate, and artistic. He is trained in combat and educated in many subjects.

As the eldest son of the joint Sanguine and Kang families, he has a lot of expectations to meet - not just from his parents but also from the rest of his peers - and this has made him the most hardworking and responsible of three children.

However, Devyn and Saeclus do not repeat the Sanguine family's mistake of suffocating Silas with his responsibilities, work and education. Silas is allowed to freely explore his hobbies, and they both encourage his love for art and literature.

Now, Aurora is most like Devyn in both looks and personality. She's confident, strong-willed and academic.

She loves to explore the world of science aside from her usual studies. And who better to teach her than Karlheinz, Devyn's best friend. She's super intelligent and has neverending curiosity. While she is a constant reminder to Karl that he could never have Devyn, he can't help but love her for how much she acts like the woman he loves.

Saeclus is definitely a lot less disciplinary with Aurora, because he's never had a daughter before and has no experience on how to deal with them. He's had some experience with sons with Carla and Shin and some other children before. So most of the disciplining for Aurora is left to Devyn.

And in the end, we have Dante. The perfect blend between Devyn and Saeclus. Dante is charming, well-spoken and easy-going.

He's probably very similar to what young Dong Hwa Kang and Nocsis Sanguine were like. Dante is super attractive and he's also polite and playful, inheriting Saeclus' effortless air of regality and mystique, and Devyn's charisma and skill with words. He'll probably keep playing around until he really falls in love with someone.

Saeclus and Devyn probably have to scold and chide Dante a lot for some of his behavior, but they love him just as much as Aurora and Silas. He also probably reminds his grandfather the most of himself when he was younger.

Silas has to babysit Aurora and Dante all the time, so he's quite fed up with these two troublemakers. That being said, Silas doesn't tolerate it if someone outside of family tries to tell Aurora or Dante off.

Aurora and Dante are absolute partners in crime, and one of their biggest missions in life is getting a rise out of their older brother at least once a week. They would have tried on their father, only he gave them the most intense look of silent disapproval and they just guiltily walked away.

I love this little family, expect to hear more from them soon ❤️

-* Why Thirst is a horrifying episode that haunts my thoughts

The following contains; me being mean to Starscream and me having KO/any large mech brainrot.

The opening scene to this episode has so much, and I have so much to say about it. We open with Starscream whining to KnockOut, presumably in the medbay. KnockOut during the conversation is clearly shown dividing his attention between Starscream and watching something in front of him. Optics going back and forth between Starscream and whatever is in front of him. It is revealed to us that this is in fact Silas, in Breakdown’s corpse. Starscream is very unsurprised by KnockOut’s behavior here, asking him to keep his labrat quiet and even showing amusement at KnockOut’s torture of Silas.

Referencing his first appearance, we can conclude KnockOut as being a high ranking officer. One that Starscream and Megatron would personally be aware of. So it’s likely that he and Starscream have some history before the show, or at the very least Starscream is aware of the reputation KnockOut would hold. (Once again being why he was specifically called to the Nemesis.)

I am led to believe by this interaction that KnockOut has a history of torture, and using other living mechs for experiments possibly against their will. It would also appear he has a history of enjoying such actions. Not only does he laugh at Starscream’s question upon asking what he’s been doing, he’s ready to show Starscream exactly what he’s been doing.

Now Starscream does show some hesitation about the fact Breakdown’s corpse is apart of this, and being used to torture Silas. Showing a clear knowledge of KnockOut’s attachment and care for his deceased partner (conjux). KnockOut however replies that he thinks Breakdown would be pleased to be taking part, something he previously mentioned when Megatron gives KnockOut the greenlight to do whatever he wishes with Silas.

Now Breakdown, the overgrown puppy he is, has been shown to take joy in hurting the wreckers. He also is shown being kind to, and being friends with the Vehicons unlike KnockOut who treats them as “less than human” for lack of a better term. I believe Breakdown’s sadism is more connected to his emotions, he wants to hurt those who have hurt him. Of course he is also KnockOut’s assistant, and while KnockOut takes the lead I’m sure he would encourage KnockOut’s sadism as he can see it makes KnockOut happy.

So torture dates. The two have almost certainly been grossly in love while doing unspeakable things to a living mech.

I’ll go more into this on another post as it’s more headcanon based, but this is clearly an example of KnockOut including Breakdown in his revenge on Silas… because he knows Breakdown would want to hurt Silas too.

I would like to take a quick second to go over one specific line spoken by KnockOut. “The monstrosity formerly known as Breakdown.” The language used here shows clear disgust, but as we just saw he clearly has some care for Breakdown in his own way. So he’s not disgusted with Breakdown, he’s disgusted with what has been done to him. What has done to Breakdown is something even he finds monstrous.

Continuing on with Starscream being the absolute worst to KnockOut. Starscream brings in dark energon. KnockOut very visibly, and vocally, reacts to this. Pulling away and calling Starscream a fool. KnockOut knows they should not be messing with this stuff. He seems more afraid of the energon itself than Megatron’s protectiveness of it.

Very quickly we see KnockOut attempt to use Shockwave as a way to escape doing this, mentioning he reports to Shockwave. KnockOut is typically seen staying in his lane. He clearly lacks respect for authority, but does not go out of his way as blatantly as Starscream does to go against Authority. I do also believe KnockOut has clear respect for Shockwave, and mentions at least twice during this episode that Shockwave should have been involved in this project.

KnockOut is shown to understand his own limitations, and where he stands in the hierarchy. Starscream uses this against him, claiming that super soldiers fall under his jurisdiction. Meaning KnockOut would report directly to him on this matter. This puts KnockOut in a tough position where he clearly does not want to do this, but feels he cannot talk his way out of this. Knowing Starscream well enough to understand that once his mind is set on something he will tunnel in on that.  Likely KnockOut feared that if he put his foot down on the matter, Starscream would take matter into his own hands. Take Breakdown’s body into his own hands, and away from Knockout.

KnockOut has a lot to lose in this situation. I find it more likely he complies not out of respect for Starscream and his position, but more because he would rather be present for the experiment than to have Starscream go behind his back and do it himself.

I’d like to go over the moment after the synthetic dark energon is injected into Breakdown’s body. We know from earlier episodes, specifically what it has done to Cliffjumper, that dark energon revived the dead. Breakdown is dead, with a living Silas puppeting him. I do believe this dark energon brings Breakdown back from the dead. We can’t be sure how much awareness he would have of the situation. However we do see him break his cuffs. First on the side of KnockOut, then the one beside Starscream where he makes a second move to attack Starscream. Throwing the seeker across the room. He has ample opportunity to do the same to KnockOut, but doesn’t.

We see Breakdown free himself, then falls to the ground. There is a clear voice change in this moment as Silas struggles, and Breakdown’s zombified body takes back over. When Silas later thanks Airachnid for killing them, I don’t think it’s simply because he is free of KnockOut’s torture. Silas has at this point become the one without control, Breakdown having taken back his body.

When attacking for energon, we see him also go after Starscream again despite KnockOut actually being closer. He does not attack KnockOut in this scene at all, not even after KnockOut has used his staff on him. Breakdown snaps the staff in half.

So after attempting to leave KnockOut for dead (and the glorious scene of him riding on Starscream’s back), we get a scene of Starscream gaslighting KnockOut. Here he wants to do the right thing, sound the alarm. This of course would bring Shockwave into the matter, something KnockOut would have to be aware of. KnockOut also admits to them both being at blame here, and seems very distressed about that fact. Starscream turns this on him. Claiming that KnockOut is the most responsible for the situation.

Again we see KnockOut being disturbed by dark energon, referring to Breakdown’s corpse as “his infected body.” This is where they find the first vehicon victim. Turning on Starscream in anger as he is once again faced with how dire this situation has become. In response to this Starscream once again gaslights KnockOut, taking the blame off himself and placing it on KnockOut. When from the beginning this was Starscream’s idea.

This episode is a good deal after the one where we originally see what has become of Breakdown. Time has passed, likely a lot of time. All time in which KnockOut had the situation perfectly under control. It’s likely nothing in the situation would have changed without the introduction of Starscream wanting to show up Shockwave. With the reluctance KnockOut showed to participate in the dark energon experiment, and continued to show in keeping it secret, the blame lands solely on Starscream.

We get an almost touching scene between the two after this, where they believe they’re likely to die soon. Despite how awkward the two are in the moment, an actual affection between the two is shown. While the words don’t exactly match, it gives off this feeling that we’ve just watched the two of them confess love for the other.

Any warm happy feelings over this is immediately wiped away by the fact Starscream throws KnockOut under the bus the very next second. Telling Megatron that KnockOut is the one who’s at fault. Despite the fact KnockOut continues to follow Starscream’s lead, even though he’s shown multiple times he doesn’t think Starscream is handling this the right way.

While there are a few more interactions between Starscream and KnockOut I could cover showing how toxic their relationship is, I’d actually like to go over the ending now.

Megatron is seen telling KnockOut the repercussions of the actions he’s done, and KnockOut readily accepts this. He does not argue, and continues to show respect to Megatron. We know KnockOut is as ready to turn on his leader as Starscream. However the difference between the two is shown so well here.

KnockOut values his survival, his place in the hierarchy. He wishes to climb, but also knows his place. Where he accepts the consequences, bows his head and is left licking his wounds to try another day. Starscream immediately attempts to argue, and Megatron unleashes his rage on his second-in-command.

There’s a lot to be said about the abuse between Starscream and Megatron, we can’t say for certain that if Starscream followed KnockOut’s lead he would have been spared. However, Starscream also has a history of doing exactly as he does here which should also be taken into consideration when viewing this moment.

The notes I took watching this episode for your reading pleasure, as they are incredibly chaotic.

- Starscream is completely unbothered and even amused by KnockOut’s torturing of Silas. He seems to even expect as much of KnockOut. Though he does seem a little weirded out by the fact he’s so fine with the fact Breakdown’s body is involved. - KO mentions Breakdown would be “pleased to be apart” something he said previously as well when he was given permission by megatron to use Silas. - The language KnockOut specifically used when speaking about Breakdown’s body shows his disgust with what silas has done to it. - KnockOut is very against the dark energon, he also talks a lot when nervous. - Starscream is fucking dumb and doesn’t understand scale. - KnockOut very quickly defers to Shockwave to try and weasel out of this. - KnockOut’s frankenstein excitement is adorable. Zombie husband. - There is something to say about the fact Terrordown has full chance to wack KnockOut when freeing himself, but only does so to starscream. - There is a clear struggle between silas and the now revived breakdown. - KO riding on starscream. - KO is really the smarter of the two. He really wants to run to shockwave to help him. - Starscream gaslighting KO. - KO loves horror films. Still love it. - KO is still the smarter of the two. - KO’s running animation is dumb as hell and I love it. - “More than either of us ever imagined.” No starscream, more than you imagined. KO wanted to run to big daddy shockwave from the start fuck you. - KO’s dying confession is to tell Starscream he’s hot. Despite this whole mess, they really just casually had a love confession because they thought they were gonna die. Gay. - Starscream immediately throws KnockOut under the bus like a fucking asshole. - KO continues to be the more intelligent of the two. - Really gives Starfucker the “I can’t fucking believe you dragged me into this” look as megatron yells at them. - KO really doesn’t want to be here. - I’m gay and airachnid is hot. - Soundwave once again proves why he is my favorite cryptid. God I fucking love him so much. - Kicked puppy KnockOut continues to be the more intelligent between him and starscream. He did nothing wrong.

.... I just want, after all the pain and exhaustion of this episode, for KnockOut to find some comfort in being beside Shockwave in the lab. Knowing that even though all his work is now under Shockwave’s control there is some comfort and safety there. Starscream can’t do anything to him here, because Megatron has specifically placed him back in Shockwave’s care.
