ok genuine question when did it stop being okay to say queer slurs in the queer community. we all used to rally around and gay men said the d slur and lesbians said the f slur and we marched together and it was this feeling of community and support and i’m confused as to what exactly has changed. obviously tribalism has always been a part of the community, it’s a part of every community.

there’s a certain amount of avoidance i feel like we’re doing here. the weight of saying you love your gay son is much different than the weight of saying you love your f*g son. i think it’s because one of those is directly acknowledging the hate that you are subverting, and the other one isn’t.

i would love to hear explanations and perspectives from people more educated in queer history than i am!

ok so spoilers for the lost boys going forward, for any of my mutuals who haven’t watched it.

i watched the lost boys for the first time a little bit ago and immediately went down a rabbit hole considering lore and the sequels and stuff, and finding out David was alive and that the antlers missed his heart was interesting and makes sense to me. however.

i cannot stop thinking about how even though yes, my fave is alive, he now has to live with the fact that his whole family is dead??? like those were his brothers and im sure he cared about them?? in most of the comics he’s angry and revenge driven which like yeah bitch i would be too, but i can’t help but think about the quieter moments when he’s alone?? does he still live in the caves? does he think about them? it’s really sad when you think about it that way honestly.

idk whether or not the 2016 comics were canon (im pretty meh on them) but this is just something that’s been on my mind a lot since finding out David survived.
