So, Mars got given a Warrior Cats book for her birthday and, no offence to those who like it, but it definitely gives off vibes of Watership Down but cats. And, also imo, not nearly as well written.

Also, the use of "meow" or "purr" in place of "said" may legitimately drive me to madness.

So I had another idea for a fic, idk if I'll write it, I might after my one shot, but I'm gonna tag @carryonprompts in case somebody else has already written or is currently writing something that fits this idea. (Or in the chance I never get around to it and somebody else wants too)

The idea:

Simon and Baz Watford Era get into an argument, the future and the war get mentioned and Simon accidently says something with magic, but rather then accidently pulling his future self into the past because he's immune, Simon ends up pulling future Baz into the past and it's chaos trying to send him back.

Simon (and maybe younger Baz a bit) are confused by the differences. Older Baz is happier, more himself and less of a copy of his dad, and he's open/honest more. He'll admit that Penny is brilliant, laugh at Simon's jokes, compliment Simon when he has a good idea, or even apologize for something if messes up, he also calls Simon by his first name which throws them all for a loop.

I think it would also be funny for him to casually eat in front of everyone having been used to it now and controlling his fangs, so the first time he goes to eat younger Baz is like wtf and about to tackle his older self or panic but then nothing happens. Simon would probably comment about how he's never seen Baz properly eat and then older Baz just has an "oops" moment, cause now it'll seem like he should be able to eat but doesn't, yet can't help his younger self as he is trying to prevent them from finding out as much of the future as possible.

Simon and Baz are married in the future so Baz has a wedding band (maybe an engagement ring also) but refuses/avoids any and all questions about it. He fiddles with it when he's sad thinking about his simon.

whenever this music starts playing on bake off, my brain goes here. nonsense! this bit of tension-ish music is generic enough it pings on a lot of things so i'm including the umbrella academy and x-files scenes as well because they've been in my notes app to check for years now 😂 just laughing that it's apparently cornfield panic music. all this music gets less and less similar but i'll call it variation on a theme :P the umbrella academy now actually makes me think of the matrix but i couldn't figure out what bit and i've already wasted too much time on something no one cares about 🤪 and i was gonna link how interstellar's cornfield chase is so different - but it's like the hopeful version!

If anyone is considering joining other new social media platforms, please look into them and learn who's running them and what their goals/values are first.

I see people jumping to Bluesky a lot, and they don't seem to know that it's a Twitter clone that was founded and initially financed by Twitter, and it's literally run by Jack Dorsey and some of his previous Twitter team. Idk if y'all are well-versed in Dorsey, but maybe think about how shitty Twitter was during the Trump years especially and reevaluate if that's what you want to be part of. Not to mention his obsession with the blockchain, NFTs, and generative AI.

I'm on Threads, which I literally only did because it's part of Instagram and I already had an Instagram account. I don't love Meta, and I think there's real possibility for bad in a world where we once again give the keys to the online hub to Zuckerberg. But out of all of them, it's also the one I think is likely to be shaped into something enjoyable and useful - even if only out of fear from Meta employees that they'll accidentally do another Cambridge Analytica scandal. But that's by no means an endorsement from me for anyone to join it.

There are a bunch others I know little about, even after poking at them by digging through their About pages and checking their financiers and founders - places like Hive and Mastodon.

This isn't the most eloquently worded post, but I hope my point gets across: you're perfectly capable of making your own decisions, I just recommend being as informed as you can be about what you're signing up for.

Tumblr constantly shifting where the gd permalink/non-dashboard view of posts is absolutely hell for someone who wants to open fics in a new tab to view it in reading mode (or prep it as a PDF or EPUB to send it to my Kindle).

Please. Stop. For the love of my sanity. Just give us ONE LOCATION to click. You can keep messing with the UI all the live long day. But I just don't understand why we can't have ONE CONSISTENT option that stops trying to redirect to the dashboard view.

I think I found where it is now. NOW it's clicking the three dots on the righthand corner of the post and hovering over the timestamp, and THEN you can right-click to open the original post. SO INTUITIVE AMIRITE?

Friendly reminder: make sure you enable "custom theme" on your blog if you haven't already, so you can have the [username].tumblr.com option, or your blog will be completely subject to the whims of Tumblr's broken dashboard system, and bonus, you can actually use your tags as URLs to be able to better search your blog instead of relying on this site's broken search function.

Tumblr is such a weird place. I love how accepting people here are in general. But there are also a handful of odd/untrue/harmful takes that I see here over and over and feel personally painful to me every time I read them. And I'm getting really sick of it.
