I really hope that Nightheart x Sunbeam is a trashfire of a relationship and for that to be the point.
We as a society forgot that the point of Romeo and Juilet was that the two of them were rebelious, emotionally charged teenagers who got infatuated with eachother once, but then when their families steped in and started telling them no, in defiance they pushed further and further into eachother into it eventually killed them both. The tragedy wasn't that they never got to love eachother, it was because they never got to explore their relationship in an honest manner that wasn't them acting spiteful to everybody else.
The point of Nightheart and Sunbeam is that their entire relationship is based off them using eachother to act in defiance of or to escape their clanmates (Squirrelflight, Bramblestar, and Sparkpelt in Nightheart's case, and Lightleap, Blazefire, and Berryheart in Sunbeam's case), and that the two a very clearly both emotionally unstable [Ya sure Nighthearts show that plenty of times, but Sunbeam was just seething at Lightleap in the most petty manner durring her little bothers funeral]
My hope for Shadow and onward is that they have a honeymoon period at first where they're all lovey-dovey, but then relationship slowly but surely begins to slip apart as their more unstable elements clash, but the two will refuse to seperate because it would mean making Squirrelflight and Berryheart smug, so it just continues to rot until it finally explodes in dramatic fashion.
The fact the the will-they-won't-they aspect of the story is already over 2 books in (which is the usual way to keep a romance plot like this going, see BristleRoot), and they couldn't possibly fill 2/3rds of 4 books with "Berryheart doesn't like Nightheart", they need something more for their story and I think this would be great for material.
I know this fandom would hate a story like that, but I've always been capivated by the toxic trashfires of relationships like RaggedYellow, and I'm excited to see us get that as a plot in a main series arc.
I really do hope this is their intention, cause if they do play it off as actually genuine and correct, then this arc is gonna be another kind of trashfire.
I understand people's hesitation to believe that the Erins could pull of a storyline like this without it slipping and falling on its face given their track record, but I'm willing to wait it out and see if they can stick the landing. Shadow is going to be a really important book in solidifying how i feel about this arc going forward
Also people who say Frostpaw's chapters are the only good ones only care about "the plot" and I think those people are boring

Felt like drawing something this morning, then I saw @lockandkeyhyena 's Cinders design for the 100th time and figured that looked like something I could bang out real quick, maybe even experiment with lineless art again.

My #1 post of 2022
I said this in the tags of a reblog and i just want to put this out there proper
Its wild that Runningnose was conceived entirely as a joke character. His single point of existence for Into the Wild was so that, when Firepaw found Yellowfang in ThunderClan territory, they could be like "but wait, if you're not ShadowClan's medicine cat anymore, that who... OHNO" *smash cut like a Family Guy cutaway joke to the single most unqualified-to-be-a-doctor person imaginable and play laugh track* Thats his entire place in the story.
Then they realized when they started writing the later books that the dumb joke character was still ShadowClan's medicine cat and was therefore too important to just ignore / write out, so they had to take him seriously as a charcater, and as more and more horrible stuff happened in ShadowClan the more and more emotional weight they put on the doctor who couldn't cure his runny nose.
Eventually we get to Yellowfang's Secret and its revealed that he had a neglegent mother and was the foster brother of the tyrant that ruined his life, and when we get to his naming ceremony Yellowfang has to say with a straight face "Your name will be a reminder that medicine cats can't cure everything" and they have to just straight into Yellowfang's dream cause how could you possibly write his reaction to that as anything other than him realizing his entire life is a joke.
And now we are at the point where people are reading stuff like Exile from ShadowClan where theres just a character whos a doctor with an uncurable runny nose named Runningnose and everybody had to treat him like any other serious character and can't even bat an eye at how foolish that is while the reader is left to wonder how we ended up in this timeline.
This is all just another reason why hes my favorite charcater

For my seventieth Evangelion book review, here is EVANGELION Millennials 2, published by Poplar Sha. This is a new mook (magazine-book hybrid) that came out just a few weeks ago, and as you can probably guess by the title, it is a sequel to the first EVANGELION Millennials (which I covered back in my sixty-sixth review). So this is another mook that is focused on fashion, which is why the cover art in the above image shows Tentative Name: Rei Ayanami wearing a hoodie over her plugsuit. Wow, she looks super stylish like that!
Of course, this publication has new looks for the other pilots as well. Check out this illustration of Asuka, Shinji, Rei, Kaworu, and Mari:
The pilots are wearing clothes from the RADIO EVA brand. Even the bandanna tied around Kaworu's right ankle is from RADIO EVA! By the way, this mook is not available in English or French (although there are a few little bits of English text here and there), but there are plenty of full color pictures. There are also some extra special goodies⊠more on that later. Keep reading for the rest of the book review, plus a few more pictures!
After the Table of Contents, this mook starts with a recap of the first three installments in the Evangelion New Theatrical Edition (AKA the âRebuildâ movies). This recap mainly consists of several pages of screenshots, accompanied by brief story descriptions and quotes from the movies. There are also a few trivia questions about the dialogue, plus some pics of the Eva pilots in their plugsuits.
The next section is the MAI YONEYAMA Drawn Illustration Collection, which showcases art that Mai Yoneyama has done for the RADIO EVA clothing brand, including the first two images shown in this review. And yes, the cute cover picture of Asuka and Shinji from the first EVANGELION Millennials is also in here!
This is followed by the EVANGELION GOODS 2020 section, which starts with a catalog of new stuff from RADIO EVA. As I explained in my review of the first EVANGELION Millennials, the RADIO EVA brand specializes in everyday wear, and many of their garments tend to reference Evangelion in a subtle way. For example, here is a dress that has flowers on one arm, with the Spear of Longinus embroidered among the flowers:
Usually I find that RADIO EVA's clothes are a bit too plain for my tastes, however I have to admit that dress is kind of cute. Good job, RADIO EVA!
For those who don't need subtlety and would rather express their love for Evangelion in a more overt way, RADIO EVA has a few things for that as well. For example, one of the items shown below is a tote bag that has a Mai Yoneyama illustration of the Eva pilots:
In the above image, the two items underneath the tote bag are subtle ones again. The first is a simple purple hair tie that says "NERV" (the purple color is supposed to represent Evangelion Unit-01), and the other is a red key ring (the color represents Asuka). Oh, and for those who prefer more character merchandise, at the bottom of that page is a figurine of Rei wearing RADIO EVA clothes.
Moving on, the next part of this mook is a catalog of some items from the Evangelion Store, including a mug and a T-shirt bearing the name of the next movie, Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. After that, there is the OFFICIAL SHOP GUIDE section with pictures and info about various Evangelion shops in Japan. The stores are described in both Japanese and English, to make things easier for tourists... once it's safe to travel again, I guess. Sigh.
Next is the EVANGELION NEWS section, which covers some Eva-related merchandise, events, and exhibits. For example, one of the exhibits is a huge Evangelion Unit-01 in a pool of LCL, located in Kyoto. This Eva is so big that you can pose for a photo standing in the palm of her hand!
After the NEWS, there is a page promoting the Eva Extra mobile app, and then an advertisement for the Evangelion Battlefields mobile game. Here is the Evangelion Battlefields ad:
And finally, on the back cover of the mook, you can see poster art for the upcoming movie Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time. Yay! Sure, you've probably seen this image online already, but it's nice to actually own a physical copy! The picture shows Shinji standing on train tracks. Here it is:
Yes, Shinji is there. He's standing in the distance, so he's very tiny in that picture. As for the film's release date, as you've most likely heard by now the movie was originally supposed to come out a few months ago (June 2020), but unfortunately it had to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So the Japanese text at the bottom of the poster simply says "Kinjitsu Koukai" (Coming Soon). Sorry, folks. I know that's disappointing for many people, however it's understandable that safety should come first. Until then, I hope you all stay healthy and safe, so when the movie does come out we can get excited together! (EDIT, March 2021: The movie's new release date is March 8, 2021!)
Anyway, that's it for the mook itself, which is only 35 pages long. But wait, weâre not done yet! As I mentioned before, some extra special goodies are included. The first item is a white T-shirt that says "The Beast", courtesy of RADIO EVA:
If you're wondering why "The Beast" is written backwards, it's because of Mari's words "Invert mode. Backdoor code... 'The Beast'!". So the designer was inspired by the words invert and back, get it? Well, that and I'm pretty sure the font is a reference to The Beatles. I would make a joke about playing the Evangelion movies backwards to listen for hidden messages, except that actually works in the Evangelion 2.0 movie, during the scene when the Dummy System is activated inside Unit-01! Seriously, it's creepy.
Anyway, getting back to the T-shirt, it's one size only, but of course people come in different shapes and sizes. So in case you're concerned about the fit, I have translated the shirt's measurements as stated in the mook...
Length: approximately 70 cm
Width: approximately 52 cm
Shoulder Width: approximately 46 cm
Sleeve Length: approximately 21 cm
Sleeve Width: approximately 19 cm
I hope that helps! Moving on, the second bonus item is a RADIO EVA sacoche (pouch) with a cross-body strap. It can carry small items, such as a wallet and/or mobile phone. Check it out:
In case it's not clear in the above photo, the pattern on the sacoche consists of Evangelion heads. Here's a closer look at the pattern, so you can see it better:
Overall, I think the best thing about EVANGELION Millennials 2 is Mai Yoneyama's illustrations. She has a good eye for detail, and I think she draws some great poses as well. However, most of RADIO EVA's clothes aren't really to my taste, so when it comes to fashion-related publications I prefer Mode EVANGELION and Mode EVANGELION2. That's just my personal opinion, though. If you love RADIO EVA, you'll probably find this mook a lot more interesting than I did. And that's cool! There are plenty of brands that make garments inspired by Evangelion, so it's nice that they cater to different preferences.
So if this mook (or the included goodies!) looks interesting to you, then please support the artists by purchasing it if you can! Check if your favorite source for buying Japanese books has it, and if not then ask them if they can order it for you. ^_^
Well, thatâs it for my seventieth Evangelion book review. I have plenty more Evangelion books to discuss, so keep checking my blog for new reviews!

Beastars Fandom Interview!
This post starts a series of interviews I want to make to artists in this fandom! Iâm really sorry for the delay with this, but I had to take care of some business irl! The first interview itâs with @dooptown, talented artist and writer of Craving More Than Youâre Given, Beasts in The Stars and co-author of Weâre Only Animals with @nilesthewhitetaileddeerqueer! Enjoy! If you want to submit other questions feel free to do it!
How did you get into the fandom?
My friend showed me its debut cover on Shonen Champion back in like 2016? At the time I thought the art looked weird so I put it on the backburner. Fast forward to May of 2017 and the same friend started reading it and recommended that I do as well. And the rest is history.
What do you feel about Beastars? Has it improved or not with the latest volumes?
My relationship with Beastars has definitely been complicated. If you go way back on my blog you're sure to find text posts of me complaining endlessly about it because that was back when I thought the whole thing would devolve into a romance story. I saw the romance between Haru and Legosi as forced and shallow (I don't think that anymore, although I do wish it was given more focus so we can really understand it). After the Meteor Festival Arc I got really invested in it, and I believe the Murder Solution Arc is the strongest in the story. The slice of life leaning of Legosi living on his own is really good too. Melon's introduction kind of marked the descent into the Weirdness we're seeing now. I love Melon to bits but the story right now is really weird and weird things keep happening. I still enjoy a handful of the chapters coming out currently, and the last few have been really great, but it's definitely not as good as it used to be. What I crave most from Beastars is slice of life.
Do you have a favorite character?
Overall? I'm not sure. I'll just say it's Louis.
You are considered one of the first Lougosi writers/artists and one of the most looked up to. How does it feel?
While there were certainly a handful of Lougosi fics before mine as well as some art, I do remember that ship being a bit barren when the manga wasn't as popular. I'm not aware of just how influential or far reaching my work with this ship is, since this is the internet and tracking that sort of thing is kind of impossible and I tend to be a bit of an aloof hermit. Knowing I'm relatively well known in a community I care a lot about is a nice feeling, though! But at the end of the day I'm a fan just like anyone else.
How has the fandom changed since you joined, especially since the anime came out?
It has blown up, that's for sure! The tumblr tag for Beastars back in 2017 was me and maybe four other regular posters, and I was the only artist posting consistent Beastars art back then (that I remember) As time went on it definitely gained in popularity, mostly by word of mouth, but even in March of 2019 it had a virtually empty Ao3 tag. So the anime, understandably, launched Beastars into the mainstream (or at least close to it). This is awesome and I love that it's seeing so much popularity and praise! Of course that also brings with it the ugliness of general Fandom Drama. Beastars Discourse is the most unwelcome thing to come of this popularity and it's the reason I no longer track the tag here on tumblr or look it up on twitter.
Your art is very popular. Have you ever thought of making a comic?
I would like to make comics but comic layout is intimidating and so is the whole process. Maybe one day.
3 fics that you would recommend?
serendipity by elkieistrying
Want a Haru/Juno story with a nice helping of Lougosi on the side? Serendipity can scratch that itch. Both ships are very well written and I love the characterization so much in this story.
Ashfall by Skeptacles
This fic doesn't seem to have many hits, and I think that's because people are turned away by it being a Game of Thrones crossover. As someone who has never read, watched, or even knows anything about Game of Thrones, I can say this fic is a great read! Skeptacles presents the setting and worldbuilding in an easy to understand way and if you have no GoT knowledge like I do, it simply seems like a Beastars Fantasy story.
To one I am tied, to the other I am true by Sinpie_SenpaiÂ
This was the first Lougosi fic I ever read, and it is the second English Lougosi fic on Ao3. It was very influential to my decision to start writing Lougosi fic, and if you haven't read it yet I think you should.
How much have you worked on merging the mangaâs plot and your story for Craving More Than Youâre Given?
For CMTYG the merging of the plot just happened naturally. I started it in March of 2019 so at that point Legosi just had his birthday and hadn't seen Louis in a while, so I figured a birthday party would be a good reason for them to meet again. I wrote from there while also paying attention to where the canon plot was going to see what I wanted to incorporate.
You think you're gonna include the turf war in your fic? And are there any new characters you want to include?
Since this story was conceived long before this manga plot started, I won't be including it. Things are going to go very differently. As for new characters, I don't think so.
What inspired Beasts in the Stars?
As for Beasts in the Stars, I've always been a Sci fi fan. This story is loosely based on an AU I made for my OCs back in 2015, as well as some Sci fi ideas I've had bouncing around in my head for years. I can't point to any specific inspirations, but people compare it to Cowboy Bebop, which I can see since both of a laid back hard Sci fi aesthetic. I also write Star Fox fanfic, so Iâm definitely using some of my experience from that.Â
Legosi in the fic is homosexual or what? What about Louis?
Their sexualities will be explained, but I usually work off my headcanon of Legosi being bi and Louis being gay.
What other characters do you want to include in Beasts in the Stars?
BITS will hopefully include virtually every character from Beastars in some capacity.
What's the difference between writing a story more anchored to the manga and one that isn't?
Writing a fic that's manga-compliant is fun because you have to take into consideration past actions in the story and make sure it lines up with what they're doing in the fic. Of course, there's less freedom there, so that's why writing an AU also has its positives. Using the characters as a base to work off of in a new setting is very exciting.
Any spoilers you would like to share for both of them?
CMTYG: Next chapter is being written, and the summer clothes Legosi pics I've been drawing definitely play a role ;)Â
BITS: Next canon characters you'll be seeing are the Drama Club folks. I hope people enjoy how I adapted them for this story.
And this was it! If you are an artist in the fandom and you want to partecipate to this please feel free to write me, Iâll get back at you as soon as possible!

why do you watermark official pics that aren't yours? i'm honestly shocked cybird hasn't had you banned for dcma laws + spoiling paid stories and epilogues, but you do you. you made it so i never have to pay money for any of the cybird games + mlqc. also i read why you aren't posting the sprites which is cool and all but you shouldn't be posting game elements either way. that's super shitty of you to do because spoiler THE ARTWORK ISN'T YOURSSSSSSS. the pic of victor on your twitter isnt yours 2
heya! iâve already answered an ask like this recently and ignored the follow up ones because i donât really wanna keep repeating myself. but since youâre very persistent and itâs still the same thing, here i go! putting under a cut because itâs long and has images â with stuff written on them! dun dun dunnnn (ÂŻâżÂŻ)
to start things, iâm the wrong person to accuse of being irresponsible with my posts because iâm very mindful of posting etiquette. have you not seen all my campaigns about not stealing from artists, from blogs, etc. i ask for permission for everything, even for random text i want to translate from someoneâs post. even for cosplay iâve seen other people freely post, i always go to the source and ask. i hope my answer clarifies things for you because i donât really wanna have to repeat it again! (*^^*)âĄ
re: watermarks (complaint mostly about mlqc because i donât really do it for cybird)
re: cybird
iâm not exactly a hidden secret blog, so iâm pretty sure cybird is well aware of me. plus, theyâve left comments on my blog in the past. sooo, thereâs nothing shocking about it at all! maybe whatâs shocking is you somehow expected cybird to not have noticed my blog all these years. do you actually know what the digital millennium copyright act covers? (dmca not dcma btw) as long as i know how to read and understand rules and iâm always within its boundaries, thereâs nothing being violated. always post obstructed cgs / never full, snippets of 10 for screenies, never in consecutive order, etc. you should read the rules tbh, you seem unfamiliar with it. â
re: you never having to pay money for any cybird game
again, snippets = not full stories. everyone can post snippets. paid or not. thatâs so weird that you feel you donât need to pay for ~any cybird game~ anymore because of my blog. i havenât been consistently posting paid content for so long. even ikesen epilogues. because i donât have the time. and iâve skipped posting a couple of events on my blog too. i donât post ikerev / midcin consistently either. iâve posted from two ikevam events in the past months with epilogue snippets. i guess you only played those? thatâs hardly everything. nice attempt at creating an issue about me making cybird lose money tho! for someone who thinks i do dodgy things, you sure do like reading from my blogâ if what youâre saying is true. but you seem to not know my blog content either. (â_â;)
i have another answer for this from an ask from 9 months ago:
re: not paying for mlqc
they allow posting everything from their game, i even verified with their team! but even i donât have the time or post slot to post everything from it. i mostly post about victor soooo, i guess thatâs everything you need to know about mlqc then? yay for you only needing victor! âĄ
re: game elements
what?
anyway, moving forward to my twitter header:
itâs from this post i made, where i screenied scenes (and edited them a bit to look brighter and prettier) from the pv of the new chapters in the ch version.
now, i just put my username there as a marker and it was already covered in the first part of this ask. (how it helps me keep track of my posts, helps me when people are able to identify itâs from my blog and alert me of it being posted elsewhere, etc.) but i wanted to show it even clearer so you can finally let go of whatever it is youâre burning with. ( ËâżË )
it just says acrispyapple on this screenie i took (thatâs right, itâs just a screenshot lmao), itâs a random word or name. i made it small and inconspicuous so it wouldnât distract from the image. the weibo watermark is bigger and clearer but i donât use itâ i can, but i donât. when people see it, they know itâs official art and thatâs it. thereâs no âmade by acrispyappleâąÂ©Âźâ
(thanks for visiting my twitter btw! it doesnât really have a lot of followers haha)
sooo, thereâs weibo and its automatic watermarks (location can be changed).
âdamn, all the users on weibo are claiming stuff as their own!!!! itâs not just a marker that a certain thing was posted from a certain blog!!! theyâre claiming it as theirs even tho itâs clearly very easy to see that itâs one of many free-for-all official images!!!â (â§âĄâŠ)
and iâve seen people use the cards as banners for fanfics and other stuff, or even memes where they put random stuff on it like this:
but writing a random word on it, just because you know my blog is somehow a great sin? itâs not even acrispyapple.tumblr.com âż
would it maybe make you feel better if it wasnât just acrispyapple? i can use random words and itâll still serve as a marker for me lmao
anyway anon, it pays to actually listen and read before you get mad and accuse. iâm not breaking any rules and iâm very much aware of whatâs not allowed and whatâs allowed. (^ ^*)âĄ
edit:
i kinda like it. (^âᎄâ^)
side note: if you have a vendetta against me, youâre free to have one. but please donât try to make stuff up just to yell at me. you can hate me quietly from afar or just avoid me altogether. or if you want to find a reason to yell at me, at least try to educate yourself about what youâre planning on yelling at me about. itâll save me time trying to explain stuff! i also donât like wasting my post slots for the day. ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
i would suggest looking at my actual content first, so your lack of knowledge of it doesnât give you away. also, try asking yourself if you really think cybirdâs en team would miss me after all these years and if youâre somehow the only enlightened one who can see all my ~misgivings~? are you aware of mlqcâs rules?
itâs funny because iâm not even close to covering everything for mlqc and there are blogs that cover far more than i do. i answer a lot of asks (i wish asks were paid content, as in i get paid to answer asks), but game content-wise, iâm faaaar from covering everyone. unless you really consider victor the whole game (âĄ). in which case iâm still missing his ch11 and ch19 screenies and one date. oh and the recent rumors&secrets! if you take a look at my posts, itâs mostly announcements, asks, fanart, general info, avatar posts, etc. i think you blindly went in with salt. ( ËâżË )
i donât really interact with people unless i have to talk about reposts and fanart-related stuff. i also just talk about games on my blog. so i donât know what i couldâve done to merit your hatred. maybe you dislike that i ask for basic courtesy or that i enforce rules given to me by artists? iâm always polite tho. hmm, mystery-desu! â©â§âË
#asks#anon#personal#saltier than the dead sea#plz come because i have watermelon#(ăŁËÚĄËÏ)#showing comic sans some love

I miss Frances and Isaiah, they were so cute.
i have conflicted emotions. i was never fond of him when they were together quite honestly, when the news broke they got married i knew it would end how it did, though i hoped it wouldn't. he started dating her when she was underage and he had a whole child. a one year old baby. plus he says frances was the one who proposed and being older (especially with a baby at home) he should've known better. it seemed like he got his in, plus frances was 19 when they were engaged, she was far too young to be a step mother, and after they were married she tweeted she wasnt having kids for many years as she still felt one herself. when they divorced he demanded so much in spousal support and when he didn't get that or the house he kept her dad's guitar to auction off. he caused the family hell.
it's unusual, he dyed his hair the same exact colours as kurt (bright red and light purple) and kept his hair and outfits similar to his. it's much more unsettling looking back. plus ever single tour he was on was through frances' connections (gerard way, frank iero, smashing pumpkins, the used). on his old facebook he admitted his clothes were stolen from goodwill or frances. though he was said to have surprised frances with all these wonderful gifts, it's clear he paid for them all with her trust fund, then claimed she spent too much (though she kinda did, but he also did). everything seemed opportunistic.
however i was on the eeries twitter the other day (it's still up), and isaiah tweeted on there. it's a rare glimpse into his personality, a little goofy with social commentary on misogyny and violence in media. he seemed like a well likeable guy. moreover it's clear he and frances had a lot in common in terms of music, movies, books, comics, tv shows and art. and her friends liked him (though i guess they had too, with the exception of courtney, who despite trying to have a relationship with him was always weary of him). he supported her education, art and music. and photos of them are very sweet. she was very clearly in love. but he turned very bitter with the divorce. if he truly respected her, and if he actually loved her he wouldn't have tried milking her for money. i know he has a child to support but he also has another parent to raise her with, as well as his family, ultimately his kid is his responsibility. he never needed money from her. he never needed to paint her as a crazy rich kid drug addict hoarder that he did everything he could to save. however his attempts to slander her name was shortlived as his refusal to return kurt's guitar made him the most hated guy in america, the eeries twitter was flooded with comments under every post telling him how horrible he is and to return the guitar. i dont think he could go many places without being harrassed by a nirvana fan anymore. he totally screwed himself all for money.
looking back at pics, old facebook exchanges, if you're in the moment it's very cute lovebirds sharing their life together. my old laptop died and i cannot anywhere find the pics of isaiah and frances making forts in their room to stay and read in, things like that are so cute (sometimes i do wonder who was thirdwheeling taking all these pics of them kissing, or in their house or at family gatherings together). but adding any kind of context, rationality or hindsight, it seems totally predatory to me. he didnt even wait for her to be of age he got his talons in right away. it's creepy. eerie is a fitting band name. if he was smart (and if his band was any good) he should've committed to growing his band and having a quiet divorce when frances filed, then maybe he wouldn't be so disliked.
i also often think of how different frances was with him. though she's a very goofy and affectionate person, her twitter made her seem rather misanthropic, then she had a transitional period of indulging in herself, her own interests and building a life outside of him, before dating matt and becoming much more 'wholesome', approachable and having this aura of bubbly, loving energy, she seemed so much more youthful. she's since closed her life off, disabled tagging, disabled comments, deleted social media accounts, no longer opening herself up to the world, which i do respect, though it means i have to post a lot of old content to keep this blog afloat.
isaiah being older perhaps she had to appear much more wiser, mature and standoffish, though it's partially youthful angst, there was this need to prove herself, and she isolated herself so much from everyone else. it seemed to hinder her growth. i also think being a teenager around older couples in their 30s who met their 'soulmate' and had these great romantic stories, of which frances had even tweeted about (gerard and lindsey and the al columbia comic), added to this fantasy that this guy she met at 17 was the love of her life and she had to marry him. i think her friends were good people and trusted her decisions but perhaps they should've told her to slowdown a little.
i think photos of isaiah and frances were cute, and frances gushing over someone she loved was cute. wanting to share that love with the world was cute. i think the situation and how it started and ended, wasn't. it was a naive love. and i'm sorry she has been so troubled because of it. her music seems to be about him. i wonder if those older tracks make the album or if she completely chooses to leave him in the past.
#so longwinded but i had a few messages about this and was thinking about this for a long time before this ask came in#anon#anonymous#asks#answered

hey I'm starting dice casting in resin as a quarantine activity! anything you think I should know? (I have researched a decent amount about what to do or not do but I feel like it'd be better to get the opinion of someone who knows things!) thanks for your time! I love your blog btw
Oh my gosh, thank you! Wow... okay where to start... (Just a heads up to anyone reading, this is going to be a long and probably rambling post)
There's definitely a large learning curve for dice making, so like you said it's really good to do your research! Experimentation is important, but I'll try to share as much as I can to help!
There are a few important stages that help improve the quality of your dice, and the quality bumps up a bit each time you go up a stage. Each stage would cost a fair bit to bump up, but it does show an improvement and most importantly, each one reduces the amount of time and effort you have to put into completely finishing a set of dice. If you ever get discouraged, remember that failure is part of learning, and of course your results will get better with experience! I'll include some pics of my first dice versus my most recent ones for comparison.
The first tests I ever tried with making dice, I had barely a clue as to what to try. The first molds I ever made were made with a small, extremely expensive Hobby Lobby silicone mold kit, and a small bottle of Alumilite casting resin.
At the time, I knew from watching King of Random videos that the best thing to use to remove the bubbles from silicone (improving the quality of your molds and final product DRAMATICALLY) was to use a vacuum chamber to "degass" the silicone as much as possible. At the time I couldn't afford one, so my old molds often had tiny bubbles that would leave small, stippled pieces of resin all over the surface of my dice. So, how do we get around all of this?
Well, one way would be to buy a vacuum chamber, but I recently found a better way to make sure there are no bubbles! But, I'll talk a bit more about this later.
(Side Note: I do not support Hobby Lobby or their policies in the slightest, but at the time it was the only place in my town that offered silicone or resin, and it still is. I now buy almost all of my supplies online, and buy direct from the manufacturer if they have a website to avoid using Amazon.)
So first off, what kind of resin should you use?
This is normally just determined by personal preference, but I really enjoy using Art n Glow casting resin for all of my dice. You measure the two parts in a 1:1 ratio by volume, and it hardens pretty well as long as you mix it for 3-4 minutes before adding any pigments or dyes. I'll add a link to their website here, but keep in mind they also sell a lot of interesting pigment options besides just resin.
So what about silicone?
So after my first unfortunate mishaps with my old Hobby Lobby silicone, I decided to do some digging and see what would actually work the best. After watching a lot of Rybonator's videos on youtube about making molds, I went with Smooth-On brand Mold Star Slow 15 silicone for my first serious molds. This specific silicone is a two-part, green platinum cure silicone, which basically means it will last a lot longer than something like a tin cured silicone. (I would add a link for where to buy it, but there is another silicone that I like much better that I'll talk about in a moment.)
This worked pretty well for me, but there is a major downside. When you use an opaque silicone, you can't see the resin as you fill up your molds. This works for a LOT of applications, but if you're interested in doing layered, swirled, or pride themed dice, I would instead go with Smooth-On Sorta-Clear 37 silicone (link included). One trial kit is more than enough for one full set of dice molds, with a bit extra left over for other projects. Not only do the clear molds leave you open to being able to make layered or pride dice, but the silicone itself is a bit firmer than Slow 15, which makes it easier to secure the mold together before you pour resin into it, and the mold is a bit more durable overall.
(Comparison photos of molds I've made with Slow 15 and Sorta-Clear 37, and my og molds)
But how do we deal with all of the pesky bubbles in the silicone and resin?
Well, I'm glad you asked. So, normally a vacuum chamber would be used to remove the bubbles from the silicone, and then you would use a pressure pot after you fill them with resin to basically crush down any bubbles that are suspended in your resin while it hardens and cures. When I wasn't unemployed and had a decently steady stream of income, I went out of my way to track down a decent vacuum chamber and a vacuum pump (which I had to buy separately). However, with a bit of experimentation, I found that you don't really need a vacuum chamber at all! Instead of buying both pieces, which would (if you're lucky) would cost around ~$75 for the vacuum chamber and pump, and $100 for the pressure pot, just using a pressure pot in place of a vacuum chamber will save on both time and a TON of money.
Using a pressure pot is one of the main stages that helps improve the quality and time spent sanding dramatically, and both Rybonator and Peter Brown have great videos on setting up your pressure pot. Harbor Freight sells a great model that has a massive capacity and is absolutely perfect for dice making! The technique for using a pressure pot for curing silicone is rather simple, just pour your silicone into your molds and place into the pressure pot, then let them cure for the length of time given on the packaging instructions.
In terms of actually preparing dice for molds, I would follow this guide from Rybonator, which is pretty much what I've followed in making mine. My molds are slightly different, but it's just trial and error to see what works for you!
Hey, so how do you pigment your dice?
Pretty much any way you want! There are lots of different ways to color and tinted resin, and nearly infinite things you can inset into them!
A few of the things I use are the cheap $0.50 bottles of acrylic paint you can buy at Walmart or any hobby store, alcohol based inks, liquid glitter, glow powder from Art n Glow, mica powders, pearl powder, cocoa powder, gold leaf, so pretty much anything! Peter Brown has an amazing video series where he takes household items and tests how well they work as resin dyes (link), and it serves as a pretty good source of inspiration for what to use!
Oh lord, am I going to have to sand these?
IMPORTANT NOTE: ALWAYS WEAR A RESPIRATOR OR FACE MASK, EYE PROTECTION, AND GLOVES WHEN WORKING WITH RESIN! (Yes, always!)
Unfortunately, sanding your dice can be one of the most tedious parts of this hobby, but each of the stages I've mentioned such as using a pressure pot or even getting your own dice masters can really cut down on the amount of time that you have to spend sanding and polishing. Personally, I use a mix of different wet sanding grits (normally the grits I use are 300, 600, 800, 1200, and 2000), and once I'm happy with the surface finish I move on to something called Zona papers (link), which work amazingly well compared to things like micro mesh pads that I've used in the past. I normally sand each face, including when polishing them, for about a minute or so on each face in a figure-8 motion, making sure that there is plenty of water to keep both dust from clogging the sand paper, as well as to reduce the amount you are breathing in. Buying master dice, such as those from Blue Mimic, can really reduce the amount of time you have to sand, but most hobby dice makers may not go so far as they can cost over hundreds of dollars, but are necessary if you ever plan on selling them or starting a business with them.
That's about most of the advice I have when it comes to making dice, but if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask!! If I think of anything else I'll add a reblog onto this with any extra info. Remember, any failures you make are absolutely part of the process, and make sure you keep them to remember how far you've come!

it's @homiro. chrome doesn't like blogs with music or whatever idfk. love your playlist. anyway ask meme: 22, 32, 34, 40, 46, 53, 57, 76, 85, 92, 124, 131 (pics if yes pls), 140
22. my relationship with my parents
my relationship with my mom is great, we're really close and I think it might be the healthiest parent/child relationship out of⊠pretty much everyone in my friend group (it's not perfect we've still got issues, everyone does ofc). my dad, though⊠uh⊠we haven't seen each other in ten years and he never met me post-transition so I don't think there's any relationship there, really.
32. do I like my music loud or at a reasonable level?
what's a "reasonable level"? I listen to my music way too loud, if it can't scare the molecules of serotonin out of my brain it's not loud enough. ...I may have a perforated eardrum bc of this... worth it tho.
34. am I excited for anything?
it's kinda dumb, but I'm so excited that there's a possibility I'll get to play RDR2 in the near future. I'm so hyped for this game, seriously.Â
also I'm excited for my flowers to start blooming they've been teasing me for Months I mean --
40. what is the last lie I told?
most likely it was claiming my reason for leaving work was bc I had to focus on school and not bc the work environment was absolute bullshit⊠idk I don't lie very often and usually when I do it's out of self-preservation, I don't like having to keep track of what I've said.
46. what was the last book I've read?
It didn't say "finished", so I'm gonna go with the two I'm currently reading. I'm almost finished with The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home (the newest Night Vale novel), which I got for my birthday, and at the same time I'm still working my way through The Way of Kings at a snail's pace.Â
53. what is my favorite word?
hmmmmmmâŠ. âschadenfreudeâ. I'd like to thank Batmanâs fic Jaywalkers for introducing me to the concept and it's also just fun to say.
57. what is my current desktop picture?
âŠ.k so my friend Matt showed me their old Warriors cats fanart from when they were 12⊠and now Iâm going to show all of you. this uses up all the saturated red pixels on my computer screen I swear:
76. met someone famous?
I think the closest I've got is Youtube famous⊠I once met Lanipator (the voice of TFS abridged Vegeta) at a convention and got a selfie with him. when I was a kid I also met Bruce Coville, the author of a book I was really into called The Monster's Ring. he signed a copy for me.
as far as like famous famous people, though, I haven't personally met him, but my cousin went to college with Butch Hartman and is close friends with him, so my mom has met that asshole I guess.Â
85. what my greatest achievements are?
uhhâŠ. probably getting into art school, moving out on my own, just being more independent⊠and finally getting to a place where I'm (mostly) happy with my art, that's something I've been starving for for as long as I can remember. I've got a long way to go but I have to acknowledge my progress.
92. what kind of people am I attracted to?
mOst guys that breathe, I swear... no, Iâm really attracted to people who, like, push the boundaries of gender norms and donât fall into specific categories. like... people who are unique and live unapologetically as their authentic selves. intelligence and emotional maturity are also really attractive, ngl.Â
124. favorite ice cream flavor?
mint chocolate chip! when I was a kid I'd get it with sprinkles bc I was a Cursed child
131. have any pets?
I do! I've got a 2 year old tuxedo cat named Magellan
a 12 year old Boston Terrier back home named Gracie
 a rosetail betta named Raymond
plus a tank with six endlers' livebearers and two nerite snails named Swiffer and Roomba (not pictured)
140. Get the closest book next to you, open it to page 42, whatâs the first line on that page?
the closest book in my proximity is Freelance and Business and Stuff by Amy and Jennifer Hood. It's my roommate's book for class. first line of page 42 is "as a new professional you'll be tempted to upgrade your car, your closet, your equipment." which is probably an accurate prediction. the very next line discourages this until you have sufficient cash flow, if you were curious.

Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 17Â âWorriesâ
Last post of the month, so Iâll end by asking you to please support me if you can either on ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/V7V2W0HO) or through paypal (paypal.me/KumoriYami )âŠ. also let me know if you have any hakuoki drama cds that youâd be willing to share that are on my looking for list since i donât have the audio for thoseâŠ..  Also check out my patreon (https://www.patreon.com/KumoriYami) for early access to my stuff and blog translations or just to support me.
Anyway. i started reading some of the biyoris.... and well, this one kinda stood out for me and i quite enjoyed reading it so i ended up jumping the queue with this lol (u can bet it has saito in it if i do that hahaha). honestly though, i was half-tempted to do track 13.... but since that kinda goes as a set with track 14 and im still trying to focus on ssl... that ended up being put aside for now.
as always, this was translated by me from Chinese using mtl help so it might not be accurate, and final edits will be done when I get to making the video for this (going to be my standard for dramas)... and when I double check the other biyori translations that I have access to (only for the biyori cuz have multiple versions for some tracks).
Also why is it almost impossible to find official art of Hijikata with one of the other guys aside from Kazama?! Like I could only find 1 image of official art of Hijikata with Saito, and I donât think iâve even seen one of Hijikata with just Heisuke, Shinpachi, Harada or Souji (on that note, the image i plan on using for this drama video had souji in it... so iâm taking him out)?! Itâs like something wants me to photoshop crap together or look through Hakuoki Otogisoushi for screenshots lol (i absolutely donât wanna use the anime/movieâs graphics as background pics).
video post is now here:Â https://kumoriyami-xiuzhen.tumblr.com/post/611700232600813568/hakuoki-hijikata-biyori-track-17-worries-eng
Enjoy~!
Hijikata Biyori Track 17 - Worries
Translation by KumoriYami
Hijikata: Saito, you there?
Saito: Yes? (door slides opens) ....Ah, vice-commander. Did you need something?
Hijikata: Ah, no. I was thinking that you should finish packing. Heisuke is hurrying to leave [or 'about to leave'].
Saito: Yes. Then I'll hurry up.
Hijikata: Sorry, Saito. To actually make you go undercover [for making you.....].
Saito: This is for the Shinsengumi. So long as it's the chief's or vice-commander's order, I will accomplish it resolutely [I will do whatever I (absolutely?) can.] [side note: I checked 3 translations of this biyori... and for some reason they all say Shinsengumi in it though I donât hear that in the audio. as such, iâm just going to leave it there when i make my srt file since i donât have anything else to tell me what is being said.]
Hijikata: Be careful. Don't watch Ito like that [Don't watch him too closely? or don't be fooled/taken by Ito's appearance. probably the latter.], he's actually quite sensitive. Don't be careless.
Saito: Yes.
Hijikata: Although I don't know how long you;ll stay with those guys, I'll call you back as soon as I get the chance. Until then, please [please put up with this?].
Saito: Understood.
HIjikata: Ah also....
Saito: in regards to Heisuke, I keep an eye on him.
HIjikata: Ah, it's because Kondou-san is very worried, please [take care/look after of him].
Saito: yes.
Hijikata: This mission, is something only you can complete. I believe that you will do a great job.
Saito: yes. Then....
Hijikata: What? Is there something still bothering you? Let's talk about it now.
Saito: Thank you very much. These are more worries than things to take note of....
Hijikata: Oh.
Saito: Because I've never left the organization for this length of time...
Hijikata: Ah, yes. I'll have Shinpachi and Harada look after/take care of your Third Division
Saito: This isn't something that concerns the team members/troop.
Hijikata: Nn?
Saito: Yukimura has yet to find her father.
HIjikata:....I'll think of something.
Saito: There's also Souji's health/body [condition?]
Hijikata: Ah, I won't assign him anything significant/major.
Saito: Also thereâs Sanan-san.
Hijikata: Yeah.
Saito: Don't let Shinpachi and Sano drink too much...
Hijikata: Nn?
Saito: Don't let the Chief worry about anything unnecessary.
Hijikata: Hah?
Saito: Also I can't help but worry [feel uneasy if i don't hear the word/phrase repeated] about the vice-commander worrying about everyone
Hijikata:....Saito.
Saito: Therefore/That's why, please don't worry about me.
Hijikata: Understood. You too, don't worry about what goes on at headquarters, concentrate on carrying out the mission.
Saito: Ah....Even if that is said, I will still.... [...Even so I....]
Hijikata: Ahah, enough. Go. Otherwise Ito will get suspicious.
Saito: Ah.....Yes. Then, I'll be going.
Hijikata: Come back alive.
Saito: Definitely. Then, good-bye. (door slides again)
HIjikata:...Ha, he's worrying too much. I'm the same/just like that [though].
-------------------
not sure how many tls iâll put out next month (i intend to finish the zuisouroku cg stuff at the bare minimum tho whether or not itâll be posted is something else entirely).... but i will have a put out vids for everything else that i did this month + the otopa drama from last month...
also seven of nine is a bad ass and i will fight whoever says otherwise... and i really hate how people say that picard isnât trek because of how dark some of it is.

Hey, thank you for checking out my art commission post!Â
Commissions and Patreon and Ko-Fi are my only source of income right now, and every dollar helps me pay the rent, keep the lights and internet on, and (very important!) keep coffee pot full. â„
First, a very important announcement:
Commission prices and guidelines have been revised as of 2/6/2020. All previous versions of my art commission guidelines are outdated, and will not be honored*.
*I want to make the changes here as fairly as possible, so anybody who contacted me about a commission before 2/6/2020 will still get the old prices for that commission, even if I havenât responded to you yet. All commissions I am contacted about on or after this date will adhere to the new guidelines and pricing.
Why The Changes?
Itâs become an annual thing for me to review and update my art commission guidelines, because after a year I can see that some items never get ordered and some prices are too low for the amount of time Iâm spending working on them.
The prices havenât changed much this year, and anything that has gone up, itâs because Iâve been doing commissions that involved those things and took me much longer than I thought they would. Price changes are not done to gouge anybody, but to try and be fair to myself for how hard Iâm working.
As ever, Iâm so grateful to everyone who has ever helped support me and my work â sincerely, thank you! â„
Without further ado, onward, to the art!

Commission Conditions
Commissions provided in digital form only. I post commissioned art on my art blog and on Twitter with the name of who commissioned it â if you donât want to be tagged by name or need to hold off the posting (say, for surprise birthday present art), please let me know. High-res file copies of commissioned art are provided on request, no extra charge. Payment is required before I begin to work.
I retain the copyright to my work. Under no conditions are you to sell it, print it to sell, repost it without credit to me as the artist, or claim it as your own work.
Revisions will be done within reason if you arenât absolutely happy with the work (but thatâs what Iâm aiming for on the first try. â„) If in doubt, please message me and weâll work it out!
Payment Info
All prices are in US dollars, and I accept payments through PayPal. All I need is your PayPal email address, and Iâll send you an invoice of what commission item(s) we discussed, the price, the date and other important information in minutes. Once the invoice arrives, you can use PayPal to pay it in a few clicks.Â
I switched to invoices because it helps me track my earnings/tax info, as well as being a proof of a commission agreement between us. It protects everybody involved. â„
How to Contact Me:
If youâre interested in an art commission, you can contact me any of these ways:
Send me an email at [email protected] with the subject line âThreshasketch Art Commissionâ
Toss me a Tumblr ask / messenger message
Send me a direct message on my Twitter
Iâm usually around and will get back to you as quick as I can. Actual art-making turnaround time is pretty speedy, but really depends on whether the commission is complicated or simple.Â
I usually have a queue of commissions lined up, and I work on them in the order they were paid for. Please expect several weeks at the minimum for me to reach your place in the queue and create your art. Let me know if you have a specific time frame you need me to work within, and Iâll be sure I can meet that requirement before taking the commission on!
Think This Post Is Long Enough? Cripes.
If youâd just like to support my work and donât have a specific art request in mind (fhdsfkdhdsk), you could buy me a Ko-Fi as a tip or become a Patron on Patreon as a monthly type of thing. (If youâre already a Patron, bless you and I love you to pieces!)
Congrats, you made it to the bottom of the post! Thank you for your interest in my art, hope the rest of your day is awesome! â„â„â„

Day 8. February 6, 2020. Owaka to Invercargill (the long way). 275km
Woke up and commenced packing. When staying at a place for more than one night, most of the gear and clothes get unpacked so it takes the better part of 45' to reorganize and repack then reload and secure the gear in and on top of the bike. It was about 50° this AM so left a polartec layer to soften the chill and a perusal of the NZTA government site showed the southern route directly west to Invercargill was open. Yeah! We rode out about 8:15 and cruised on what was now a somewhat familiar scenic ride westward. We made it to Papatowai and once again, as we saw yesterday, there was a police car in the road. Immediately the pit of your stomach churns. Having checked out and a reservation awaiting in Invercargill for the next three nights along with the Burt Monro rally fun all contributed to some anxiety that we might not be able to make it happen. Every other thought was about the more than a meter of rain which fell in 48 hours earlier this week and where and how would ALL that water make its way south. But the NZTA site said the road was open! The officer was very nice and explained that we needed to return to Owaka and make a left turn at the Lumber Jack (last night's tasty dinner location). Then we'd proceed over a gravel road through the Owaka valley and up to Clinton and head west to Mataura en route to Invercargill. We rode back the 27km to Owaka and then proceeded through the scenic valley and westward to Mataura. We should've been more suspicious of the lack of bikes within 150 km of Invercargill. As we pulled into the central area of Mataura the main Hwy 93 was completely blocked by sand bags at least 4' high. Although the road was dry, it was apparent that floodwaters had swirled there in the recent past. We saw three other bikers who approached us and explained that they weren't able to bypass the flooding in town. It's heartening to wake up to What's App messages complaining/wondering what happened since I fairly abruptly ended my blog as I was just too tired to continue. (Richard!) At least I know someone is reading... I don't write this for others, mostly for myself to have a record of these adventures so I don't forget the little and interesting things that happen on a daily basis. One of the daily pics shows the sand bag barrier on route 93 and the fire/rescue folks who described for us the next route to take to attempt to get to Invercargill. We rode again eastward on the opposite direction of our destination to Clinton and found the only cafe open for a quick drink/bite and a bathroom break. At Clinton we noticed one thing right away. For the first time in days we were on a busy road (Hwy 1) and it was steadily streaming trucks and more interestingly to me, bikes! Now, with a brief stop, we joined the flow again towards the elusive Invercargill after a 170km double detour. At least we got some fantastic scenery and rainbows so no complaints.
The highway from Clinton to the next town of Gore has prompted a humorous gesture by the NZ transportation agency. They have a sign as you depart Clinton heading the 44kms to Gore that proclaims it the "Presidential Highway". đ Very funny! Gore was surprisingly large with loads of bikes getting gas and finding one of the dozens and dozens of restaurants there to eat. We continued on after passing over the Mataura River bridge where the railroad trestle immediately downstream was nearly submerged. The road continues along the river and was closed due to flooding so all traffic was diverted about 30km on a series of more western roadways and eventually we met up with 1 again for the half hour ride remaining into Invercargill. Mother Nature opened up on us for a while but only hard for 15-20 minutes and it abated just prior to entering town. We rode in by the much discussed transport museum and into center city. We got an apartment in a Quest building right next to the central traffic circle in the town's center. Fantastic location. Not a full service hotel, but a building of nicely appointed apartments with a front desk that is manned for check-in hours only. Only a couple blocks from both the Classic Motorcycle Mecca museum and then the other way to the famous and historic E. Hyde hardware store. The store that is not only huge but houses Burt Monro's workshop (behind glass), loads of vintage bikes on display interspersed with their merchandise, a full Indian dealership within and of course anything you could think of to purchase! The motorcycle museum was also visited and did not disappoint. Over 300 very significant bikes of marques that extended beyond my knowledge base. They also have in their basement a collection from a NZ motorcycle racer named George Begg who became a car designer (he didn't race the cars). He made stunning and well known cars which won races around the world. We decided to then ride out to the official rally site towards the beach. About 9 km to Oreti Beach. There was a tent and a steady line of people filling out registrations. I opted for the $60NZ rally pass which provides access to the rally site which includes camping and the vendor and food tents as well as evening entertainment tents. It also provides a 50% discount on all rally event tickets which are normally $20NZ (less than $13). I bought all the remaining event tickets. Drag races today, beach racing tomorrow, Saturday's sprint races and speedway races ending with Sunday's street races.
We toured the motorcycle safety tent and picked up some safety swag (earplugs, visor cleaning cloth, kickstand pad) and were then drawn into a discussion with a researcher from Australia who is trying to promote two things. One was a geometric design that allows urethane to be produced into a much more flexible design than the D30 armor. It is much more ventilated, flexible and lighter than the armor used by most manufacturers. He had printed it up on his 3D printer and it slowly crushes under pressure. Made great sense to me, hopefully more companies will adopt this. Also he was promoting "MotoCAP". This is a way of testing all motorcycle protective gear in three modes (abrasion, impact and a third one involving energy dispersion that I can't remember now that I'm typing this the next day!) in the same way that cars in the USA get a crash rating, clothing would all be ranked and consumers would be informed about which items perform well in which modes for their information. This guy is conducting the tests on various items. He did say that the Klim Badlands jacket (one version heavier than the Latitude I wear) was the best textile jacket they had tested to date since he saw me wearing my Klim. We strolled through the entertainment tent which was largely empty save for a stage and an official merchandise vendor. We got in line and bought a couple items to remember this event by in the future. There was also a food tent with 5 food trucks set up to deliver to campers and anyone wanting some unhealthy treats while on site. Who am I to talk! đ The drag races we're getting ready to start at 6 or so it said on the ticket so we rode the short distance over to Teretonga race track. They have a gravel road that connects the rally campgrounds directly to the track area so the rally campers don't need to put a helmet on for the short ride to watch the race. We strolled through the paddock area and saw a large diversity in the bikes. Some modified Hayabusas, some extended swing arm bikes with wheelie bars behind and some 150cc Vespa scooters rusting out! The drags were sponsored by Harley and we met the Harley agent in our apartment/hotel as she unloaded flags destined to the track event we were now attending. Speaking of unhealthy foods, we both decided to support the local netball team by purchasing a sausage from them for $2NZ. What a delicious bargain. Complete with Cole slaw, cooked onions and mustard and wrapped by a piece of bread. Best deal ever. The track was not really that organized. I don't think the first racers went off the line until 6:45 and it was not warm but the setting sun kept the hard chill away. Maybe it was 56° but very windy. In fact they discussed shortening the 1/4 mile distance due to the risk of blowing racers across the track but they kept it at the standard length. The races were fun to watch. Especially the unmodofied and less experienced riders with incredibly powerful machines that had difficulty keeping their front ends on the pavement. One guy went nearly vertical and somehow managed to save it! A grizzled biker with a nearly as grizzled brown duster unloaded his brown duffel from his shoulders and spent the time smoking hand rolled cigarettes by us. There was also a Maori with full face tattoo art by us. And some rubes as well. (Rich urban bikers) Varied bikes and diverse crowd. A little bit of everything here and lots of eye candy. Even saw a "new" Triumph Rocket 3 R down the street today. The guy should've cleaned it up! It was showing loads of dirt from riding in the rain. I just picked up my new Triumph Rocket 3 TFC two days before departure. I had placed a deposit on it when they announced over 6 months ago and I am very impressed with that machine... đ€© Ah, I digress.
With the sun setting on the Twilight event, we did decide to leave before it was over after standing for more than 2 hours (no bleachers/seats) and the cold setting in. We found a mini market to get a few essentials for the apartment and headed back to town. After some vino and snacks we meandered down the street to find a cafe that was part of a hotel and we enjoyed a mushroom pizza and a beer before the day caught up with me and I was unable to put much down on the blog before nodding off.

Snacks are good, Self-care is better
You might have noticed the title change and that my pic isnât just my fun socks and a scale. I couldnât decide on a  new official blog title so you can expect randomness until I land on one that I love. Iâm changing it because weight is not the only thing that matters. When I first started all this, dropping pounds was the primary focus with the hope that other lifestyle changes would follow as I worked toward that goal.  Tracking pounds is measurable, it made sense, but after 5 weeks, itâs kind of stale and not much fun. Some goals arenât quantifiable, theyâre just a feeling. I had way more fun this week practicing self-care by focusing on my skin care routine and attempting meditation. And guess what, while I was doing all that I had less time for snacking, YEAH! This was always supposed to be about total health and wellness, a change of lifestyle. It will take time and Iâm willing to give it time, but sharing the journey with all of you keeps me focused on my evolution and accountable to working toward it.
<Weekly Wednesday Weigh-in: 202.4> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â <Total Weight Change: +1.8> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â <Fluctuation Since Last Week: -2.4>
Amazingly, my weight has trended back down in the last week. Portion control wasnât great. I cleared half a tray of lasagna one night. Honestly, all I did was cut snacking down by about half for this result. To be clear, I still ate hot cheetos and pounded down half a pack of oreos, a few other things here and there, but significantly less than what Iâve been having in recent weeks. I gave myself a hearty pat on the back for this progress because seriously, Iâm subconsciously heading to the fridge and pantry when I sit down to watch TV. Itâs almost involuntary. I have to retrain my brain, dissociate watching TV and eating. Now that Iâm aware boredom is guiding me, I ask myself two questions: 1. Why are you looking for food? 2. When is the last time you ate?
My workouts matched my intensity levels from the previous week so another pat on the back for consistency. I did get some exercise in 6 out of 7 days, WOOHOO! My pursuit of daily exercise continues again this week with the long-term goal being that I can get an intense, sweat filled session in 5 days/week with two days for yoga spaced accordingly. If I sweat 3 days per week at this point, that would be a win. The yoga has been hard to incorporate. For some reason, leading yourself in a flow is much harder to accomplish than following an instructor. But, there is plenty of free stuff online right now so itâs up to me to take advantage of this opportunity. Â
I gave my body some love this past week. Sugar scrub, lip mask, clay mask for my face and I even pumiced my feet⊠not all in the same day. Even though we know we should take care of our bodies we donât always. Whether itâs because we feel like we donât have the time, lack the motivation or just completely forget because itâs not an ingrained habit, our skin suffers. Being conscious of it helps me, because even on the days when Iâm not feeling like doing anything, I at least make sure to cleanse my face, tone and moisturize to keep my natural glow on point. Love your body, love yourself.
Hahaha, the meditation. Iâm mainly doing it to help reduce anxiety. I get insomnia like a m*tha f*cka so this is one thing, among many different things, that Iâm trying to deal with that nonsense. I made an effort to do it 3 out of 7 days, I may or may not have just blown it off completely a couple days, but that is neither here nor there. After two days of wondering if I was doing it right, I headed over to reliable old Google⊠The type of mediation I seem to practice (yes, there is a variety) is breath awareness/mindful breathing. Essentially, I focus on my inhales and exhales while ignoring all other thoughts that enter my mind. The batting away of random thoughts is almost constant, but I did manage to just breathe for a few breaths. My mind wanders to things like writing this blog, food, work, cheese, the fact that the dog needs a bath, food, wondering how much time is left till the 5 minute alarm goes off. I did make it to 7 minutes one day, but that was only because I set the alarm for the next day and while I was supposed to not be thinking thoughts, I thought, itâs definitely been more than 5 minutes and checked. It is what it is. Dismissing the thoughts is a work in progress and my fight continues this week!
Despite resting on Friday, I still felt like I was running myself ragged with the to-do list by Saturday. We can always find things to do, ways to keep us busy. Maybe itâs being stir-crazy that is making me feel like I should be getting stuff done, but I already waged war on my living space last year (see the Art of Purging posted Feb. 6, 2020). Too bad that didnât stop me from reorganizing my movies by genre the last 2 days. I think the stir-craziness is manifesting as overloading myself with personal goals to-do list items. Iâm putting a stop to it today because I need to find balance. A little routine wouldnât hurt so Iâm going to plan to take my dog on a few short walks throughout the day to build some structure into my aimless days and help with balancing my time. I didnât realize yesterday was Tuesday until almost 8pm. Iâm sure some of you are in the same boat being stuck inside.
My goals for the next week⊠Keep aiming for those daily 5 minutes of meditation, continue to love on my skin, and space high intensity workouts accordingly with restorative yoga to rest and reset. Iâm going to take a pause on specific goals where food and diet are concerned and just be mindful of my portion sizes and snacking habits. Oh, and I think Iâm going to allow myself to just give in to those types of days where I can just lay on the couch, take naps, snuggle my dog and do nothing productive. Ultimately, this journey is about total health and wellness, a change of lifestyle, and sometimes the best way to care for ourselves is to do absolutely nothing at all.

2019 Best Press 3/4: ă«ăżă«ăă»ăżă€ăă« + Kanji Title by TANUKI
While for many vaporwave vinyl is doubtless equal parts collectorâs item and audio source, I donât want to lose sight of the goal of this blog here: developing a canon of the genre for high fidelity enjoyment. That said, when I come across something remarkable or noteworthy about a particular piece of wax, even if it is not a âpurely audiophileâ object, I want to make mention of it.
And TANUKIâs ă«ăżă«ăă»ăżă€ăă« + Kanji Title wax release is not only noteworthy, but contends for hi-fi consideration despite itâs status as a picture disc.
But letâs back up slightly.
Going back to the previous thesis on why we buy records, sometimes you just want to own a vinyl just because. Just because youâre a collector trying to compile a discography on wax â or, better yet, just because you truly love the album art. For me, ă«ăżă«ăă»ăżă€ăă« + Kanji Title (Double EP) was undoubtedly all of the three âjust be-causesâ.
A while back, I noticed that the LP was going into its 3rd press, and decided to snap up a copy because I like Tanuki, I like Lum, and because of those other just becauses. Unfortunately the only format available was not the pink vinyl, but the picture disc. As Iâm sure is well-known (because audiophiles are very loud about things they dislike), picture-discs are a big no-no in the audiophile community. This is because while a beautiful objet dâart, a serious listening session of a picture disc release will usually produce greater amounts of surface noise than any other type of vinyl. You can, of course, with the right system, neutralize and mitigate this process slightly, but true-blue hi-fi heads pursuing that elusive muse of âpure soundâ would never give a picture disc a second look.
Iâm not one of those people.
Tangentially, Iâve heard whispers of ghosts of rumors from when I was living in Shenzen, China â that various record suppliers (small batch Makers) are working out manufacturing and material processes that minimize these issues on pic discs to create appealing records that cover all the bases: hi-fi suitability, collector oriented visual esoterica, and price. I should also admit I have no idea where those companies are in terms of R&D and/or producing these. I end up catching a lot of very fast talk from extremely motivated enthusiasts, but Chinese is still as elusive a language to me at times as âpure soundâ can be. With that in mind, however, itâs logical to surmise that advances in technology will eventually render the differences between picture discs and traditional black wax undistinguishable. So long as the world isnât destroyed in some cataclysmic climate disaster (very real possibility), or -- as we are watching evolve now: World War 3. My view is that itâd be pointless to dismiss the format out of hand when there are active attempts to innovate it as we speak.
That all said, I know what to expect when a contemporary, big-label picture disc plays. During my college days, I used to spin wax at the university radio station. One of the previous catalog managers had a fetish for this âcollectibleâ format, and was convinced he was doing the station a favor by purchasing all these vinyls, noting a pre-supposed resale value later. I remember throwing these on the well-worn Technics SP-10 we had as our main turntable, and listening to the occasional scratch, frequent popping, and constant surface noise, that for the uninitiated (bless you), sounds like a sustained âcrackingâ in your Rice Krispies â or for those born in the analog age, CRTV static.
So when I sat down with the Tanuki picture disc, I had this laundry list of preconceptions and prejudices about the format. I thought that I could listen to a moderately scratchy record once or twice, keep it as more a visual boutique item and then eventually include in an article where I bemoan the poor quality of the genreâs releases.
But then, I actually listened.
And it sounded⊠well, I wonât get ahead of myself. Hereâs the full review:
THE MUSIC
BABYBABYăźć€ą â is doubtless the reason why many of us have bought the EP from a sonic perspective âespecially if the band-camp reviews are indicative of trends. I still maintain that this is the Mariya Takeuchi sample/remix work par excellence. Tanuki hits all the essential notes here, a genuine respect and love for the sound-staging of its original source, Yume No Tsuzuki. I still get echoes of the original arrangement in my system, (ever so slightly) with a bright and dance-infused collection of unique sounds â particularly in that delicious, wide mid-range â that flesh out the track into its own sort of masterpiece.
äœăGoin' On â the curatorial and conspiratorial side of my brain tells me that Goinâ On will probably go down as one the under-appreciated vintage bangers of this era of future funk. I can envision hipsters two or three decades from now sussing out a neophyte with pretentious questions about this trackâs pitch-shifted sample draws from. It has that sort of vibe that you know hits with a certain subset of electronica fans â rich & vibrant, making the tweeters on your system work out in all the best ways â itâs just great.
ăăăăŻăă â Tanuki is at his best when he gets playful with brass samples. I firmly believe that the titans in this genre each have their go-to piece in their best arrangement â like Dan Masonâs creative vocal array, or greyLâs manipulation of micro-samples. For Tanuki, itâs whenever her gets a horn â synthesized or otherwise, into his production workflow.
ăăĄăłăŻOFF â continues Tanukiâs magic act, taking another city pop track more iconic for its soulful electric guitar riff and turning it into the most slap-worthy single on this EP. I prefer it when Japanese pop samples are fundamentally re-imagined, although I can see how the perfectionist tweaking of someone like Yung Bae is more appealing for some. Tanuki is undoubtedly one of the innovators of this genre, and thereâs no more solid evidence of that talent than this track.
è
ăźäžăŠăDancinâ â if I ended up hosting a sort of mythical vaporwave grammies or something like that, (Iâm available, folks!) I would probably go off on a Ricky Gervais style rant on how artists arenât in touch with âthe peopleâ (read: me) because all we really want are more remixes of Meiko Nakahara songs â who given her impact on City Pop should have way more play in this genre than she does. This one, like most of the Meiko mixes Iâve heard, is a banger with an absolute fire bass riff punctuated throughout.
Radiant Memories â this might be my first certified âhot takeâ in the publication (theyâll be many more, I imagine) â but as far as Iâm concerned this is the superior Plastic Love edit. Iâll just leave my thoughts there, so they can soak in with a portion of the fanbase who split my reddit account on an open fire of downvotes for suggesting that other artists than Macross 82-99 (Praise be upon him!) are allowed to touch this song as well. While Macrossâs mix is definitely the more up-temo of the two, and that for some is the very essence of the genre, this slightly down-mixed version is both the perfect conclusion for the EP and ideal antithesis.
THE LISTENING EXPERIENCE
Signal to Raise ratio on the following albums:
ă«ăżă«ăă»ăżă€ăă« + Kanji Title: ~61.9db (1 db MoE)
Tron Legacy, Daft Punk:Â Â 58.4db
Love Trip, Takako Mamiya, Kitty Records Press: 65.8db
(ratings based on averages 5 minutes of sustained play on the testing unit, the machine actually complied this data on its preset, which is another fascinating part about this sort of vintage press-testing tech). The margin of error is because the machine, according to my mentor Dr. Juuso Ottala formerly of Harman International, informs me it was never meant to give accurate readings of picture discs, and to add about a dB of error margin.
One of the benefits of growing up in New England and, subsequently, New York, is that there are no shortage of heritage professional audio brand HQs in operation around a 200 mile radius from Manhattan to Boston. Off the top of my head, thereâs Harman/Kardon, Boston Acoustics, Bose, NuMark, Marantz, and Rane headquarters within an hourâs drive from my two hometowns. Early on in my audiophile quest, I got my hands on some cool vintage gear â vinyl lathe testing equipment that has collected dust in both an old Harman technicianâs storage unit, and now my parentâs basement. Over the holiday, I recently brought it out to do some surface noise testing on it to get a rough confirmation of what I was explaining in yesterdayâs hi-fi guide. The innards of the machine looks eerily like a plinth-less linear tonearm and plate pair attached to a monitor. After making sure Iâm not violating some kind of Harman International trade secret, Iâll post it on instagram.
Wanting to also get a firm idea on just how good my ear-test sounded, I grabbed another picture disc vinyl I had received as a gift a few years ago from my brother â the Tron Legacy OST. While I found the film passably enjoyable, my own preconceptions about pic discs, and a general exhaustion with french house â left me with no discernible desire to spin the thing. I hadnât even broken the seal on the plastic wrap, so it seemed like as good as a blind test as any. I also grabbed what my ears tell me is a âgoodâ, âheavyâ press, a 1982 original dead-stock copy of Takako Mamiyaâs Love Trip LP pressed by Kitty Records Japan. Iâve played it maybe a half dozen times since I bought it, so itâs as close to ânewâ 80s audiophile pop record as you can get. The Japanese are infamously anal about low SNR on their vinyl.
And, well, the results speak for themselves. The sweet spot for most black vinyl records is between 60-70db depending on age, weight, and a host of other frankly uncontrollable factors that arenât worth getting into detail here, as Iâd go on forever. The main takeaway here is that Neoncityâs and Tanukiâs record sat at the low end of the audiophile vinyl reference spectrum. Which in itself is a remarkable achievement for a pic disc. Itâs worth taking a look at Tron Legacy, which just barely scratches 8db above a cassette tape, and 7db a Japanese vinyl from 1982.
This is all in an effort to say: damn, this is pretty good.
This also somewhat counters the usual âpicture discs sound like shitâ narrative thatâs prevailed pretty consistently in the audiophile community. Tron Legacy? Yeah, that probably sounds like shit if I could bother to suffer through a listen. But whoever Hong-Kong based Neoncity is using actually makes âgoodâ â if such a qualifier needs to be attached â image-pressed records. And that devotion to audio fidelity should be rewarded.
It might be time for me to re-asses picture discs on the whole, and that mind-expanding moment is something I owe to the fine folks at Neoncity.

Episode 100: Beta
âEarth can set you free.â
Bismuth is the first two-part episode in the series that was structured as a single long episode. Beta and Earthlings should have been the second.
This isnât the first time the first half of a two-parter has ended abruptly (hereâs lookinâ at you, It Couldâve Been Great), but thereâs a difference between wrapping up a story without much resolution and just cutting to commercial midway through the story, and Beta does the latter. Itâs not even a cliffhanger, itâs the beginning of a new scene that pauses for effect and starts exactly where it left off in Earthlings. In most regions they premiered back to back, and could be confused for a single unit if not for the title card.
This isnât an actual complaint: itâs a harmless distinction to have Bismuth as one episode and Beta and Earthlings as two, especially because ZukeânâFlorido boarded this one and MoliseeânâVilleco boarded the next. But when youâre writing episodic reviews, you have to take the segments as theyâre presented, and it is really difficult to review the first half of this story as a discrete unit. The rough equivalent would be writing about Bismuth up until they exit the forge and just stopping there.Â
Iâm not gonna cheat and review Beta and Earthlings at the same time, despite them literally being one story. I could dig in hard to my view that theyâre more connected than Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem, The Return/Jailbreak, It Couldâve Been Great/Message Received, and Super Watermelon Island/Gem Drill, but that wouldnât change that theyâre technically two different episodes, and Iâm not changing the goal of this blog (to review the series episodically as parts of a whole) out of convenience.
But I am gonna cheat and pull my header quote from Earthlings. Because despite Peridot getting that wonderful moment then, itâs really about whatâs happening now.Â
You can apply a three-act structure to just about any story if you try hard enough, but Beta is more smoothly divided into halves: Steven and friends at the barn, and Steven and friends at the Beta Kindergarten. The second half is fine. Itâs honestly more than fine. Weâll talk about it, of course. But the first half is one of my favorite things in the world.
Amethystâs arc continues to benefit from its funky flow. Our very first shot is of her whip cracking, outfitted with Bismuthâs upgrade, evoking both Bismuth and, well, Crack the Whip. Steven is still helping her out from Steven vs. Amethyst, and just like in that episode, his encouragement is only hurting: he compliments Amethystâs whippery (and to be fair, heâs doing it more genuinely than in their video game fight), but she reveals that sheâs still down on herself. In less than thirty seconds, weâre right back into the swing of things after a huge episode that had something but not everything to do with Amethystâs insecurities.
And then we get to the barn.
The Meep Morp Exhibit is FloridoânâZukeâs finest hour, and Iâm saying that as a huge fan of Last One Out of Beach City. Itâs everything I want in hangout comedy on this show, and thank goodness it has time to stretch, because every second counts. Like It Couldâve Been Great, we get a first half with a killer opening featuring Peridot, but this time we benefit from spending about half the episode basking in its glory.
(As tempting as it is to spend the rest of the post just telling each joke and intermittently saying âthat was so funny,â Iâm gonna write about the characters instead of the events. I know, I know, nothing is more entertaining than reading an over-analysis of comedy that threatens to take all the joy out of one of the most joyous sequences in the series, but youâll just have to deal with it.)
I havenât talked much about Jennifer Paz yet, but thatâs because Iâve been saving it for now: itâs easy to argue she has better showcases than Beta (Canât Go Back is likely her best episode, and The New Crystal Gems shows off her impersonation skills), but this is a terrific medley of all things Lapis Lazuli. We get sweet and earnest Lapis, pleased as punch to see Steven. We get hesitant but assertive Lapis, smiling while delivering a pitch-perfect âNoâ to Peridotâs request to fly everyone into the barn. We get Daria Lapis, dry as a bone as she talks about Meep Morps (a rare honest-to-god alien joke in a show about aliens). And we get Lapis as a comedy partner with Peridot; the Paz Pic above is the other half of the image I used for Shelby Rabara in Catch and Release, and like their characters theyâre unstoppable together. Itâs so great to see Lapis and Peridot getting along, considering we last saw them in a tentative truce, and the new status quo we establish here pays major dividends in the future.
In lesser hands, the tonal fluidity between sincere and sarcastic could have made Lapis seem inconsistent, but Paz has mastered both sides of the equation to the point where it all feels real. This dual nature fuels the best joke of the episodeâLapis correcting Stevenâs analysis of a Camp Pining Hearts teen repeating âI just feel trappedâ while surrounded by mirrors by saying she just likes the showâbecause itâs impossible to tell if sheâs just messing with us (sorry, had to throw one joke analysis in there). Itâs brilliant that a character who has been ambiguous from the start can retain this trait while shifting towards the side of our heroes.
And it makes her a great foil to Peridot, the straightest shooter in the series (not because she wants to be, but because sheâs so unsavvy that itâs impossible for her to hide her emotions from us). Sheâs the consummate host here, openly admitting her desire to impress their guests and snooty without shame as she presents her Morps by name and tells us what they represent. Her bowtie is a wonderful gag by itself, but it gets even better when we see the doll she won in Too Short to Ride, whose bowtie has clearly been ripped out, floating helplessly in the water without comment (okay, last joke analysis, I promise).Â
Amethystâs antsy desire to leave and focus on Jasper keeps us grounded: I could watch an entire episode about Lapis and Peridot showing off their exhibit without any conflict, but we have to keep the ball rolling on Amethystâs story. Her loud lack of enthusiasm may seem mean (and it is), but showing her reject repurposed junk reveals just how out of it our trash-loving heroine really is. Plus, as she points out on their walk over, she has no reason to think much of Lapis, whose only interactions with Amethyst have been fights or playing baseball as gloomily as possible. Her attitude isnât enough to put a damper on one of the best scenes in the series, but skillfully keeps us from drifting too far into the majestic realm of Gem Art.
In terms of the immediate plot, the actual goal here is getting Amethyst in the same room as Peridot, whoâs the key to resolving her arc in two ways: she has actual answers in regards to Jasper, and she shares a history with Amethyst involving their mutual feelings of inadequacy. We get references to both Too Short to Ride and Too Far here as they talk about size and Kindergartens, and itâs a natural step in Amethystâs growth to be helped by someone she once helped. This is a Peridot whoâs aware of Amethystâs issues with how she was made, whoâs confident and even proud of her short stature, whoâs a total ham with her developing metal powers, and who gives casual nicknames and pep talks when her friends are down. None of that would have been possible without her friendship with Amethyst, and itâs time for her to return the favor.
The Beta Kindergartenâs red sandstone has a warmer, brighter feel than the Kindergarten we know and fear, and we can actually see the sky. So while Amethystâs cheerful attitude in On the Run acts as a contrast to the unsettling setting, Peridotâs snotty appraisal leans comedic. Shelby Rabaraâs mean girl delivery of lines like âIt was obviously a total rush jobâ is entertaining, sure, but it also shows a cute implied influence from Camp Pining Hearts and Lapis in her manner of speaking: itâs the same disdain weâve seen from her throughout the series, but now through the filter of a haughty teen. We could have gotten away with a straight exposition dump about the Beta locationâs role in the rebellion, because itâs fascinating lore and Peridot can be mechanical, but as ever, the opportunity is taken to characterize.
As the tour continues, that classic Kindergarten feeling creeps up on us. The eerie instrumentation that accompanies the Prime location quietly emerges as Steven takes a long look at a broken injector, and ominous percussion plays as we finally see Jasperâs hole, taking the wind out of Peridotâs rambling for a moment of whispered terror. Her attitude soon returns (I love that she dismissively refers to the enormous Jasper as âtallâ), but is muted once again when we learn the cleverest plot point of Amethystâs arc.
We know that Amethyst emerged late and small, and that she was an exception in the otherwise sterling track record of the Prime Kindergarten. But now, after minutes of pointing out how all the denizens of Beta were a mess, we realize that Jasper is Amethystâs polar opposite: a single massive success in a sea of mediocrity. Sheâs not just good, sheâs perfect, born right on time and flexing her muscles all the way out. Itâs worth repeating that a handful of episodes ago there was zero connection between Amethyst and Jasper, but thanks to some seriously elegant writing the pair now feels fully intertwined.Â
There isnât an actual resolution to Beta, but the closest we get is Amethystâs newfound resolve to beat Jasper. After an entire episode spent sulking, our hero is finally revved back up and brimming with enthusiasm, which leaves Peridot picking up the buzzkill baton. Amethyst may be in a better place, and her kinship with the messy offspring of Beta is heartwarming, but she still thinks the only road to satisfaction is defeating her rival in single combat. Itâs a mindset that befits her quartz heritage, but Iâm glad that itâs Peridot, who got out of her own slump with help from Amethyst, who feels comfortable pointing out that itâs not a realistic goal. Stevenâs input has been consistent throughout the episode, and Peridot (who was once told not to focus on what she canât do by a certain purple Gem) could have been drawn in by Amethystâs zeal. But for all her artistic sensibilities, this is still a blunt realist, and after going out of her way to try and prove Jasperâs inferiority sheâs still forced to admit that Amethystâs goal is a pipe dream.
Steven keeps to the background here, due to that consistent input. Obviously heâs still charming and helpful, but Beta is more about Amethyst and Peridot in the grand scheme of things. It shows his continuing growth as a leader, realizing that a kindred spirit like Peridot could help Amethyst out, and he still gets a brief pep talk that gets the ball rolling on Amethystâs rekindled desire to fight Jasper. But heâll get more focus after the commercial break. For now, we realize that the strange holes are cages for Corrupted Gems, then Jasper emerges from behind a sand cloud, then Amethyst pulls out her whip, then
Future Vision!
We actually meet the Beta Kindergarteners that Amethyst was hyping up in That Will Be All, including Skinny and the Carnelian that Peridot mentioned.
Iâve never been to thisâŠhow do you sayâŠschool?
Dude, spoilers that Peridotâs gonna become a farmer!
Weâre the one, weâre the ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!
Itâs our hundredth episode! And that means a new expansion of the top list from fifteen to twenty! When It Rains, Catch and Release, Chille Tid, and Keeping It Together return to the higher heights, while Bismuth squeezes right in in the sixteenth slot. Weâll be expanding again to a top 25 at episode 125 to maintain the percentage of glory for another moment.
As for Beta itself, it was a tough call. But if Iâm being honest with myself, I love the opening scene so much that it makes up for it only being half a story. Iâve watched that scene alone so many times and it still satisfies.

Viewing And Publishing Instagram Stories
Take into account the case of turker bayram, a lamentably popular but elusive malware developer who has been capable of vicinity his malicious apps  inside the top charts on google play and the app shop.  Soon after he creates them and uploads them, there are huge numbers of downloads.  By the time a person figures out whatâs occurring, and after hundreds how to see who views your instagram of hundreds (probably tens of millions) of customers are robbed of their personal information, google and apple subsequently delete the apps.  This has took place at least two times. Instagram, whatsapp, fb) so as to massively rob consumer profiles⊠and it gainedât be the last. These âappsâ usually return to the top of the charts and every so often below the umbrella of the equal developer.  In the case of âigapersâ, the sufferer innocently enters their credentials, unaware that the confidential data is despatched to the attackerâs server.  Rather than coming across âwho has been searching at your instagram?â, the cyber-attacker seamlessly accesses the account as if it were their own and posts spam pics at the ownerâs behalf. Foto 2_instagram from telegrams to instagrams, the greater technically state-of-the-art we end up the more critical it's miles to can you see who views your instagram believe the conversation supply, or in this example, the âappâ.  âigapersâ is just one of the many scams designed to take benefit of the great interest generated through social networks.  The most worrisome aspect about them is their recognition, continually huge and instant, that by the time google or apple are involved itâs too overdue for heaps of customers.  Combat those threats via staying alert, ignoring fake guarantees, and installing a hard antivirus on all of your gadgets. Cutie Reviews: Kawaii Box Nov 18
So far nothing from Blippo, but itâs only been like... 3-4 days since I got the email from them, I assumed if anything itâd at least be a week, maybe two at the most. But again no tracking so I canât be positive.
I canât wait!
This months Japanese word: Shichimencho - Turkey
Gudetama Chocolate Bar
If youâve been a reader of this blog then you might recognize the candy bar image on the wrapper. Thatâs right. Itâs this again. I swear every few boxes weâre getting one.Â
But for anyone new or who are unfamiliar with this, this candy bar has a textured outside, sorta giving it a log design. On the inside is wafer, usually with a very thin layer of cream. They either come in chocolate or white chocolate, and features tons of various wrapper options; I usually just see Sanrio, but Iâve also seen Disney ones and on the Blippo website they have a Detective Conan one right now for $1.90.
Rating: â„ â„
It tastes pretty good, and thatâs coming from someone who isnât the strongest fan of white chocolate. I prefer dark or strawberry, but regular chocolate is always good too.
It makes me think of an imitation kit-kat bar, which isnât bad at all. But I really wish they would give us something else. Â
Sakura Desk Calendar
Our next item is a very useful one for writing down appointments and keeping schedule of important dates- next to a planner that is. This is a cute little fold-able, standing calendar featuring a water color sakura theme.
And kitties of course.
It also features a side for writing down important notes or events/appointments. Available on the blippo website or $3.90.
Rating: â„ â„ â„Â
I really love the colors and designs, theyâre so gentle and pretty to look at~ Calendars are useful and all- but in all honesty I canât even put mine on the calendar. Not only because Peach (my cat) would knock it down, but because I canât get these ones with the folding bottom to sit. At all. I donât know why, but they donât work for me.
But on the plus side itâs small enough that I could keep it next to my bed in my stand, or I could put it in my bigger purses.
Sanrio Characters Sakura Plushie
A super cute Sanrio buddy to match our adorable new calendar. Each has a pretty pink pastel color scheme and cute little sakura on them. This line features My Melody, PompomPurin, Hello Kitty, and Cinnamoroll, and each one costs $4.90. These types of plush are similar to Tsum-Tsum, which means they can be stacked. Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„ â„ No, it doesnât go with Thanksgiving like at all, but itâs so cute! I love the detail of the little flowers, which are very pretty to look at. The plush quality is also really nice, and sheâs very soft~Â
Sushi Pen
Okay, still not thanksgiving- but at least this item is a food, which counts for something right?
Each pen costs $3.90, and there are 6 variations; salmon, egg sushi, riceball, rice in leaf, fried shrimp, and shrimp on rice. The topper is a rubbery plastic.
Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„
The pen is fine-tipped and it works very well. But the ink takes a while to dry so it isnât a good option unless you plan to leave your book or paper out to avoid smears. I also discovered that the topper doesnât stay on like you think it would. When you put the cap on the âpen buttâ it falls off semi-easily.Â
Thankful Memo-It Notes & Molang Eraser
Our next item are these cute Memo notes themed after 3 different girls, and oddly a polar bear. Each set is $1.80, and they have 30 notes in total.
Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„Â
I think itâs a cute idea, you never really see memo notes like this here. I like how you can write on her top, and if youâre really bored you could âdesignâ her a new one.
What bugs me is that it feels like lately theyâre always giving us memo notes, and I have them practically coming out of my ears now; but at least I have a variety to suit the mood or theme.
Going with the stationery theme, our following item is a set of adorable Molang erasers. The set costs $1.90 on Blippo.com- and to get it out the way now, no they arenât scented. They stink like eraser.Â
Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„ â„Â
The quality is pretty much like any other eraser, pretty good. They look so cute together, I canât bare the idea of actually using them though~
Pastel Animals Coin Purse
Next up is this cute pleather (imitation leather) coin purse that features an adorable animal on a soft pastel background. Each costs $2.90, and besides this sheep, there is also a pink bunny, a light blue squirrel (which oddly says âforestâ despite being surrounded by cactus), and a mint one with dancing kitties.
Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„
For a coin purse this is perfect. It has a nice clasp to keep it shut, and the inside is really soft, but I feel like it could collect dirt easily. As much as I donât like yellow, I still think itâs pretty cute. Itâs small enough to sit in a variety of locations and not get in the way.
I will note that there is an issue with the fabric, as you might be able to see in the pic; itâs like the material is deformed. I didnât use this yet and it hasnât been out of packaging or the box since I took the picture. Iâm not really sure what caused it, and nothing seems to fix it.Â
San-X Corocoro Coronya Stickers & Kawaii Neko Letter Set
For $2.50, this is a sheet of Corocoro Coronya stickers featuring Coronya and his friends, and pretty gold line details. The sheet includes 70 stickers in total, and their smaller size makes them puurfect for dressing up plain items~
Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„ â„Â
Theyâre so cute~ These would be perfect for resin projects if I was still doing them. When stickers include gold or glittery detail, I sometimes worry the sheet will end up being a mess (like the jinbeisan stickers I got a while back...). But this one is great! There are a few gold lined spots that are messy, but I would still give it an 8 or 9 out of 10.
Next is this cat letter set from the brand TreeinArt, a stationery and gift shop. There are 3 envelopes and 6 pages. I couldnât find the exact one on Blippo.com, but I did see a unicorn set that looks like it for $2.90, so Iâm going to assume that was what this one is too.
Both the paper and envelopes have a kitty design.
Rating: â„ â„
Itâs very simple, but kind of cute still. But I kind of wish there was more to it than this this. Like I think it would have been cute if they had included a pencil and eraser (or an eraser on a pencil), or maybe a little sticker sheet to decorate it a bit more. I donât know, to me it feels like it needs something...
Marumofubiyori Plush Pouch and Coin Purse
Our final item is this adorable Marumofubiyori pouch/coin purse. Available for $5.90, there are 4 different poses available, each one cuter than the last~
The inside of the pouch has a very soft mesh-like cloth in it, so it feels really nice to touch. The tag also includes little details on Marumofubiyori and his friends.
Rating: â„ â„ â„ â„ â„Â
With how many Marumobubiyori items that have been popping up lately in these boxes, Iâve quickly become a fan x3 theyâre so precious. The quality on the pouch/purse is well done, although they used a slightly transparent white fabric (you can see the spots of his blanket through him). The applied blush is also an adorable touch~
â„ Cutie Ranking â„
Content - â„ â„ â„ Honestly I wasnât feeling this box too much. I like a couple of the items, but itâs overall stationery theme was kind of bugging me. I love getting new pens and erasers, but did we really need all of the stationery basics in a single box?Â
Price - Â â„ â„ â„ â„ â„Â Some of the items I was a bit surprised over how pricey they were. But Iâve seen worse so itâs not too bad, and in total this box costed $32.50- and remember, the box itself only costs 17-19 dollars. So yeah, Iâd say they were spoiling us with this one.
Theme - â„ Nothing actually fit thanksgiving, like at all. A couple of items had Thanksgiving descriptions in them- but I felt like it was forced, and Iâm sure there are ways they could have achieved something that felt like the holiday besides the cover art.Â
Total Rank: 4 out of 10 Cuties. This box felt completely underwhelming to me. It wasnât bad and Iâm probably being too critical, but compared to this one I felt like last months box was way better. I donât have a problem with stationery, but I know for a fact they do have some food items that would have been perfect for a Thanksgiving box.
â„ Cutie Scale â„
1. Sanrio Sakura Plush - I love love love love pink, and I love love love flowers! This is a perfect item for me â„
2. Pastel Animals Coin Purse - As much as I dislike yellow I ended up really liking this purse a lot more than I thought I would. I really like pastels though so I think that plays a part in it. The sheep on mne is also just really cute.
3. Coronya Stickers - Looking at these just makes me want to sink my teeth into some delicious coronet~
4. Marumofubiyori Pouch - I kind of wish I got it in one of the other poses, but this one is still really kawaii~ I also like how soft the pouch is. I definitely want to start using this one.
5. Sushi Ink Pen - I really wish I would have gotten the rice ball one, but itâs still pretty cute. I love sushi, so sushi-themed items are automatically awesome in my books. Although looking at it too long is liable to make me hungry~
6. Memo Notes - The little girl design is pretty cute.Â
7. Molang Erasers - As cute as they are, the poses are generic. Plus I was an avid eraser collector as a child, I know I canât use these. Iâd hate to ruin them.
8. Sakura Calendar - I love how pretty it looks, but the folding flap on the bottom is kind of annoying. I donât understand why they donât work for me >3<
9. Gudetama Chocolate Bar - Â The package is pretty cute, but Iâm tired of these.
10. Neko Letter Set - The images are cute but I really donât see myself using it anytime soon.
