I met the Dice Maker in Disco Elysium. I don’t think I’ve fallen in love with a character’s place or purpose in a world before, so it’s a new kind of appreciation for how she’s written. She’s so soft spoken, and polite. Her life is calm and quiet, and there’s security to it. I feel like maybe outside of the context of the game, hearing about someone who works that kind of job or lives that way could sound a little dull. But out of each character I’ve interacted with, she’s the only one who seems just wholesomely content. I like how she’s kind of a reminder that even if everything around you sucks, there’s still things, or people, you can interact with that can give you a sense of peace.
What an awesome character.
