no hate to you guys, moots, but i keep forgetting how predominantly white and western centric the aot fandom is (just like mikasa). wdym jean is a french german cajun canadian american? he has an absent moroccan dad. annie? she is honorary filipina. thank u tito leonhart. hange is south asian, residing in bangalore specifically. magath, bengali. shadis is yemeni. bertolt and pieck? persians. freckles ymir, mejicanaaaa. i'll give a pass for some characters who are solely white tho like erwin, who else but a white man who is allowed to pull all of the stunts he did. and yes, floch is irish.
#aot#🐈⬛#i feel so disconnected with the fandom sometimes#i believe a bunch of them are middle eastern or south asian just based on geography#north african too!!#assuming that seeing mikasa and onya is a huge shocker im assuming east asian central or south africa is too far#tmarley beefs with mid allied forces means they r right next door so yes more arab and caucasian characters please

Well i think i Understand what anon was trying to say, you see people call wish "Woke" cuz people think magnifico is in the right for not wanting to grant all wishes because they think that would be "Dangerous" not knowing that's not the real reason why magnifico doesn't grant most of the wishes in rosas, but magnifico stans make it seen that way, they push that false narrative about magnifico and asha, making people not want to see wish or give it a chance cuz its "just another woke movie" so yeah of course your completely valid to like a character but pushing false narrative to make asha look like the "real bad guy" knowing people already call it woke and are racist towards asha?! Yeah they kinda are killing wish😒
Oh don't get me wrong, it's absolutely annoying and completely exasperating to hear so many people going "B-B-But this good-looking white guy DILF can't possibly be the bad guy, he's just trying to protect his kingdom!!!! Can't you see that the teenage WOC who wants everyone to have free will is 'tHe ReAl BaD GuY' because some people might use their free will for BaAaAaD tHiNgS????"
Oh, right! It's a "woke" movie for *checks notes* featuring an Afro-Hispanic leading lady and confronting the idea of blindly believing in some higher power to give you direction in life. Gee, I wonder who would be offended by that *stares pointedly at most churches I've ever known.*
But still. The block button is there for your use, folks. You can use it whenever you want. You don't need to wait for some sign from the heavens or some greater reason. It's not going to get taken away from you and there's not a limit to how many people you can block. It's there and it's there to help curate your experience. You can block every one of these people if you want!
#i think afro-HISPANIC was what the writers meant; not afro-latina#because hispanic means related to spain/spanish-speaking countries and spain is in the iberian peninsula where they say rosas is#but i could be completely wrong on that. anyway#and of course asha's mother is north african and asha's hair is braided as a reference to the amazigh people her mother is said to be from#asha disney#princess asha#asha wish#wish 2023#wish movie#disney wish#wish disney#look i am not JUDGING the folks who like him because i like him too!#and i have several blorbos who are assholes making terrible choices#but the wish fandom has featured this woobification to an incredible distortion in my experience

going to the middle east for the first time in my life. i still don’t know how i feel about it. the locals are def gonna sniff out the fact that i’m from the west lol (and i’ll be damned if i get a bad bargain on anything when shopping 😤). but i am excited to explore the archaeological sites, history, visit the dead sea, and eat delicious food.
i really hope i can go to my grandparents house in palestine too. and if i do, i hope the IDF doesn’t give us too much trouble on our journey (which is doubtful). either way, im going to make the most out of this trip.
#crazy i never fully experienced my moms culture aside from the bits ive experienced with family here#i know it’s gonna be different than my dads side#north african culture and people are so different#i’m more comfortable with my dads side#they’re more loving and lively#but i’m trying not to judge too harshly#going into this with fresh eyes

as soon as i want to relax i start thinking about how vulnerable my vitals are
#like when it is time for me to sleep or on the bus or just walking about outside#i always have my sides “hugged” sort of & i always worry about the back of my neck showing#( could entice someone into stabbing me there ) like on the bus or in class i keep thinking about how easily#someone behind me could just snap & stab me in the neck#i am a paranoid person like this in general in 2019 i was too scared to wear my hair in pigtails because i was paranoid some crazy person#with scissors would cut them off & run away ( sometimes i start thinking too much & it starts going into witchcraft territory )#( like OMG i am så going to get cursed for a laugh or out of boredom using those !!!!! same with nail grooming i only file )#anyway so when i try to sleep i keep thinking about how someone could just barge into my house & stab me in the kidneys & chest#& it feels so real so i have to curl up into a ball so the thought goes away#but then i think like any position is stabbable & nothing i do can protect me. no one say guns i am north african#maybe i need to start hiding weapons under my clothes again just to feel safer i used to hide blades in my bra when i was crazy in 2020#i think i am getting back there lately but surely this is fine whatever. Who caare & i mean that genuinely i have already been there#butUGH I HATE feeling so vulnerable to The Killer like i know what wendy williams means but honestly the thought of not dying scares me moa#kind of like how the anticipation of a needle is scary only you get stabbed or attacked & bludgeoned in various ways#like anyone can do anything at any timeeven when i was a kid i would be walking places & think someone could so easily drop a bomb right no#or how gas cylinders can explode at any moment. & then i start visualizing & Feeling until my ears ring. anyway#sorry for my Sick & Twisted Dark & Sinister Mind#journaling. or like.something.

some silly little thoughts i have on monster :
big fan of how so many characters in monster have a big nose like that's peak character design, that's exactly how i draw people 🫡. and every character, even ones with one line of dialogue have a different nose, i love this !! i think my favorite noses, on the top of my head right now, are runge's and karl's.
i'm also a big fan of how many middle aged/old men there is, as a fictional dilh (dad i'd like to have) lover. (this one is about only like five characters because the rest are kinda bad people etc.)
there was only supposed to have these two thoughts but i decided to ad two more :
i love the french detective hired by müller, he deserved better. also if there ever is an adaptation of monster, my theater teacher, who's an actor too, should play him i think 🤭 (he's french and kinda looks like the character and i love him so).
since i'm on the topic of an adaptation of monster with real actors, i don't want one UNLESS it's with exclusively with german-speaking actors. like i want it to be a fully european production all in german (with characters speaking czech, english, turkish, french etc when needed, obviously). i put my trust in arte if there was someone to produce this because they have banger german shows 🫡. also i want the actors in this scenario to mostly not be very famous, just to be good and have the same vibe as much as possible as the characters. although i'm not against more famous people being in it, they should have little roles imo (like if an actor like idk david suchet plays the old english husband or katrin sass plays a random nurse, i don't mind yk)
#urasawa did it for the north african jewish girls (me) who love drawing big noses (kinda wish more women had one tho)#also 2nd point is about leichwein/reichwein and rosso mainly#kinda tenma and grimmer and runge/lunge too but the first two aren't THAT old#and even though i love my man heinrich he's not a dad (but he kinda reminds me of my dad who's so absent he left the country but you know)#3e point David mv jtm je vais faire de toi une star#4th point i'm invested in this hypothetical german adaptation (it will never happen) (if they did make a live action i'd be with am*r*c*ns)#naoki urasawa's monster#monster#sophia talks

By ‘hairy’ I’m referring to women with above what is considered acceptable, i.e. not just blonde wispy hair or peach fuzz, but hair similar to the sort I post on here, visible dark facial hair, visibly unshaven leg or underarm hair, happy trails or lower back hair etc.
There’s no wrong answer of course so just vote with your gut! Just wondering what the general feeling is and whether you feel like visibility of body hair on women has increased or decreased in your perception (and whether that could be due to women trying to de-stigmatize it, or if standards have resulted in women shaving more).
Also thank you everyone who has interacted with the polls so far, it’s been really cool hearing your thoughts and comments!! You’re all so great and sweet ilu 🫶
#polls#body hair#body hair positivity#anti hair removal#I don’t know if the options make sense I was trying to keep it simple#I know what ‘hairy’ is will vary from person to person so don’t think about it too hard#I was thinking of doing a poll on where everyone’s from but idk if that will sound too intrusive#like if you live in North America Central America South America Central Europe Southern Europe North African etc etc

Naming OCs actually sucks so much sometimes, especially when the creators of the source material have no fucking idea which culture they’re drawing from
#I’m trying to name Ghazan’s parents okay. cause if I continue my Haya fic it’ll come up#and the process just made me realise how much of a mish mash of cultures the avatar world is#and how hard it is to pick a name that would be appropriate#sometimes I wish I was 12 years old again and just picked stuff that sounded good#like there’s literally no reason for Suiren and Midori to have Japanese names considering ming-hua’s is Chinese and Ghazan’s is afghani#but again I was 12 and it’s been way too long and way too many connotations to their names have been formed for me to change them#just assume that since they’re in the red lotus their parents wanted to pick names separate from their respective nations/cultures. ok? ok#anyway back to my main point#I started with looking up origins for names I knew. particularly Ghazan’s bc I picked Haya’s on a whim#literally writing the first chapter of SotRL and typing up the first name that came to mind#which accidentally ended up being my actual distant aunt’s name oops#point is. it’s apparently hebrew. which really just throws everything off#so I looked up ghazan’s and it’s from an afghani dialect I believe. don’t take my word for it though blame google if I’m wrong#I checked multiple sources so I’m 80% sure if it#so I’m like. okay. and opened a list of afghani names on the side#then I remembered my recently adopted headcanon of Ghazan’s parents being originally from si wong desert#so I looked the sandbender tribes up and that’s when I started losing my mind#known names range from mongolian to chinese to thai#the sandbenders themselves are clearly inspired by arabs and north africans#so there’s a bajillion sources and o have no idea where to start#currently just scrolling through lists and writing out ones I like#I also want to avoid names with meanings that are too religious or ones that end in -aya or -an#so it’s a struggle lmao#there was a point when I thought it’d be funny if I named the mom Niloofar or Nilüfer cause it also means water lily like Suiren#but then decided it might be a bit too on the nose. I’m not really too into the whole ‘name your kids after family’ thing#even if it’s tangential#idk. it’s a cute idea but probably not the right call#writing woes#kind of

God I can't believe this. Carnival is approaching here and of course kids dress up in costumes, guess what costume have the teachers picked this year. AFRICAN TRIBES. LIKE DUDE WHAT THE FUCK YOU PIECE OF SHIT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?! Oh, and that's not the worst part, THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE THEM DANCE AND SING. Dance and sing african songs (I don't know which, I don't even know what tribe they want to use as a base but hell no) I can't believe it, well I can but it's still indignant. I am not black nor come from a tribe but I'm an immigrant in this country and I have faced my own little struggles regarding my cultural background and identity (obviously I can't compare with what POC have to face, this isn't about me) honestly if my culture was butchered and used like a costume I'd commit manslaughter
I just want this to be used as a reminder that culture, that traditional clothes from other places and cultures, that traditional dances and songs are NOT A COSTUME, THEY ARE NOT FOR FUN OR TO WEAR TO ONE EVENT AND EVEN LESS TO MOCK THEM.
People from all cultural backgrounds and races are more than invited to comment and state what they think (go ahead please). Make your own posts and revindicate this.
Carnival is coming
#my sibling is still in school i have been out of that hellhole for a while#but holy shit#this reminds me of the time they dressed my peers and I (many many years ago) as ancient Egyptians which is still bad and hurtful#or the time the taught us about japanese culture and made us dance to hatsune miku#and taught us a few words in japanese#i wonder why they never dressed us up with the traditional local costumes i really and truly wonder why they didn't dress us up with those#maybe because putting a trash bag on with a few decorations (that was our ancient Egypt costume) and calling it a traditional dress or suit#is not good#maybe#i asked my sibling if they are going to paint their faces black too#they don't know about that yet#and the teachers really think that that is a good idea#like a REALLY good fucking idea according to what they said#reminder#cultures are not costumes#why can't they dress them as aliens with recycled materials?????????#i they want the kids to engage with African culture they could make them do some research#learn about the different languages and cultures in a region#this of course doesn't apply solely to Africa it's about Asia and asian cultures as well#it's about the culture of the native American people from both north and south#even for other cultures that belong to white people#they don't dress them with the traditional german attire and make them a beer glass out of cardboard because they realize that that is bad

Yoooooo my head hurrrttttssssss, i think the neighbour across the street's daughter is having an engagement party or maybe henna party idk i wasn't invited, but i recognize the darbouka sounds anywhere from my fellow arabs, still, my head hurts, even if i'm happy for them, my head still hurts, i'm glad they're celebrating, but my head still hurts. I haven't slept properly in 2 days. And knowing engagement parties from our culture, this is lasting until 3 am if not longer. I can't take it. My head is gonna explode.
#too damn loud#my#head#hurts#i'm very obviously not gonna do it but i know a neighbour or too that must likely WILL file a noise complaint#hopefully no one goes that far#it is against the law#and unfortunately many locals i personally know don't care enough to hear about north african traditions and will call the police#actually i probably should get up and warn them#i don't wanna ruin their ceremony but i need to act quick before anyone else creates a drama
