RWBY AU:

This AU is one where the roles are swapped drastically. No, this one is swapped so weirdly. For example in normal RWBY Roleswaps, Yang would take Ruby’s role and Blake would take Weiss’s, vise versa.

This one not so much, the roles reversed would be:

Ruby - Jaune

Weiss - Nora

Blake - Pyrrha

Yang - Ren

Ozpin - Salem(A Normal One)

Mercury - Emerald(Another Normal One)

Oscar - Cinder

These are the main ones, but you can tell these are weird. Except Ozpin and Salem; and Mercury and Emerald those are the same. But just imagine Blake that adopts the personality of Pyrrha and falls in love with Ruby who is Jaune, weird. Then you have Salem inside of Cinder’s head. Oscar basically adopting a hungry Mercury and a crippled Emerald. This could be way more chaotic in by the way if I added more characters. And just note everyone’s personality is the same; only the roles are different. The shipping is also chaos for Blake loving Ruby, Ruby crushing on Nora, Ren and Pyrrha happen, Jaune and Cinder could happen, and if I were to include another every emotion would snap in me.

Here is the funny part this is not even every character only the few most important to me.

Fanfic #31: Lost and Found (RWBY AU)

Everyone can have their days whether if it's good, bad, or even full of surprises. And it's no exception for the local farm boy himself, Oscar Pine.

Ever since he was enrolled to Beacon High School, life has suddenly became an adventure for him (Figuretively and Literally). He learned something new everyday in classes, became a proud member of a club, have gained many new friends who he loves and cares for, he even got himself a fun and an amazing girlfriend, who is the leader of that said club. Things has been really great for him for the most part.

But then one day......Oscar received news that had drastically changed his life forever. His Aunt.....the only family member he has left in his life.....had passed away in her sleep. The moment he received that tragic news, Oscar felt the world had just... instantly stops around him. It didn't make him burst out in rage or in complete sadness...it just.... completely shocked him...that the one person who practically raised him ever since he was a child.....had left the face of the Earth.

The sadness of his heart came in full force once the funeral of his aunt was close of being over. Once he step into his room alone....the poor farm boy couldn't help but to let out every bit of heartache and sorrow that he had been hiding for the past few days of his aunt's passing....by crying his eyes out. His cries was so heartbreaking that Ruby and the rest of their friends who attended the funeral, instantly took notice by rushing towards the room and comforting their devastated friend the best way they could before he would eventually tired himself out to sleep. Qrow and Tai even agreed to let themselves and the kids stay the rest of the night at his aunt's farm just to keep Oscar's company.

A few days later, things have finally went back to normal for the most part. While he's still saddened by his aunt's death, Oscar does whatever he can to keep moving forward in life even though his sadness is still within his heart. He tried his hardest to keep that sadness in check just so his friends wouldn't have to worry about him too much. Unfortunately, it only made them worried even more than before. The two friends from his group who was worried about the farm boy the most, however, were the two seniors, Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie.

Ever since they first met, Nora would (somehow) always see Oscar as her cute, freckled son, with Ren going along with the idea just cause. The two couple has shown their sincere love and care for the boy as time goes on. Which made them all the more heartbroken to see their baby hurting and bottling up his emotions like this. So one day, they both decided to have Oscar to tag along with them as they drove towards a nearby cemetery where he could hopefully have this much needed talk.

Oscar: (Couldn't Believe what he's seeing) R-Ren....is this...

Ren: My parents' gravestones?....Yeah....My father was a proud military veteran before I was even born. And my mother ran a very famous flower shop in my hometown....Things were pretty simple during those days.....

Oscar: (Was Almost Very Hesitant to Ask Ren the next question) So.....W-What happened to them?

Ren: Well....('Sigh') When I was young, my father was killed in the act of duty....two years after....my mother died from a sudden illness....

Oscar: Ren......I-I am so sorry.....

Ren: (Gave Oscar a Sad and Small Smile) It's okay, Oscar. It was a really tragic moment for me, yes, but I knew that neither of them would want me feel this sad about their passing. So I've move on and lived a better life. And I wouldn't be where I am now if I hadn't met Nora during that time.

Nora: (Place a hand on Ren's Shoulder with a reassuring smile)

Oscar: (Felt a little better to see Ren happy) Well I'm glad you were able to get through all of that. (A lot better than I could right now....) (Turns to Nora) What about you, Nora? W-What was your parents like?

Nora: (Suddenly Turns away in sorrow)..........

Oscar: Nora?

Nora: O-Oscar.....I.... honestly..... have no idea who my parents were?....

Oscar: (Eyes Begins to Widened once he's realizing where Nora's going from all of this) My god.....N-Nora.... I'm so sorry.....

Nora: (Turns around and gives Oscar the Sweetest and Saddest Smile She could give him right now) It's okay, sweetie. Not gonna lie, it was really... really hard for me back then..... Walking in the dangerous streets and whatnot....(Hugged Ren's Arm while having tears coming out of her eyes) But I was so blessed that I've met this amazing boy in life....It made me really happy, you know? To live the rest of my childhood with him and all.... meeting every single one of our friends in high school.... Including you....

Oscar: Even me?

Nora: Definitely....('Sniff') You mean the world to us too....('Sniff') We love you guys soooo much. (Burst out crying on Ren's shoulder)

Ren: (Turns to Oscar as he comforts Nora) Oscar, we understand what it's like to lose someone you love.....think that you have no one else to come to in this world.... But we both want you to know that you're NOT alone as you think you are. Because you still have me, Nora, Ruby, Jaune, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Penny, Sun, Neptune and everyone of our friends who loves you and will always be there for you no matter what happens. So....we really hope that you'll never forget that you're always welcome to come to any of us if you ever need someone to talk to.... okay?

Oscar: (Starts To Slowly Smile at his two friends) Yeah..... I'll always remember thay. T-Thank you guys so much.

Nora: (Finally Calmed herself down) You're always welcome, sweetie-pie. We love you so much.

Oscar: And I love you guys too. So...is this the only reason why you two brought me here?

Ren: Yes....but there is something else we been meaning to ask you... Even before either of us even thought about bringing you here.

Oscar: Really?

Ren: (Nodded) This... might be too much to ask but... Oscar, would you like....to move in with us and Jaune?

Oscar: (Surprised by Ren's Request) You..... really want me to move in with you guys?

Nora: (Gently Grab both of Oscar's hands) Of course we do, Oscar. We've already told Jaune about it and he wanted you to move in too. We could be like one happy family together, just the four of us. (Gives Oscar the sad puppy dog eyes) Pleeeasee?

Oscar: ...............You know.....ever since my aunt died....I honestly thought I was going to be alone for a long time.......

Ren: Oscar......

Oscar: But now.....you two helped me realize that....I don't have to go through this all by myself.....that it made me see that each and everyone of you guys are like a huge family I never thought I wanted up until now.....So yeah......(Looks up Nora with a happy, tears filled eyes) I would love to move in with you. If it's really okay with you guys, of course.

And before he knew it, Nora twirl the farm boy around and gave him a big, heartfelt hug, with Ren happily joining along as well. Indicating that the longtime couple would love nothing more than to have their baby boy move in to their home with them and Jaune.

Life has been pretty challenging for Oscar to endure these past couple of days since his aunt's passing, but he finally realized that as long as he has friends/family by his side, he positive that he'll be able to go through whatever life has in store for him and beyond.

One of the things I love about Qrow is that his entire character (besides the whole alcoholism, bad luck and his development) is about how he says he doesn't like children but somehow he always ends up with children. Basically:

Qrow: I don't like children.

Yang: *is born*

Qrow: Except my beautiful niece how could my sister leave this precious thing.

Ruby: *is born*

Qrow: And this one. We're not related but she's my niece too fuck off.

Jaune, Nora and Ren: *exist*

Qrow: Well since you're travelling with Ruby-

Oscar: *arrives*

Qrow: You're Ozpin's reincarnation and you're nice of course I'm keeping you.

Weiss: *arrives with Yang*

Qrow: I don't like Schnees but I'm keeping this one because she's really polite.

Blake: *comes back* Yang?

I've had a bad few days at work so im gonna make a rwby so self indulgent it kills me so most if it will be oscar and team arson fluff and maybe some angst

Do I think any of these are or should be cannon probably not but they make my heart fuzzy

Cuddle piles all of arson take naps together a tradition originally started by Nora after she found Oscar napping after training and decided to join him eventually it evolved into the whole team cuddling while they nap at first emerald is super weirded out by the question but agreed anyway and Nora kinda doesn't want her to join in at first but she cant say no to oscars puppy dog eyes as soon as it started emerald melts and passes the fuck out and ever sense she gets grumpy(more than usual) if they don't nap in a few days

After atlas leadership falls on Oscar winter tries but the others don't trust her like they trust Oscar and winter honestly isn't opposed to not being in charge for fear of becoming like James

Speaking of winter she respects Oscar a lot and doesn't let him being a kid stop her from trusting him not as blind as she did James but trust none the less

They also do some training together as winter is the most experienced fighter besides ozpin with them she's a good teacher as we see with Weiss and Oscar likes her tough love teaching style

After loosing jaune ren and nora start to get a little over protective Nora holds Oscars hand whenever there in crowds and ren always walks behind him if there's a chance of him slipping away I think that if its not addressed it gets worse to the point of almost paranoia because of how horrified of loosing another teammate they are some refugees get into a fight over sleeping spots and Oscar tries to break it up and gets shoved down and Nora overreact threading the assailant more than necessary and after Oscar and her have a long conversation about her fears and some of them are put to bed

Oscar doesn't give up on team rwbyj if the others belive they are dead hes not super vocal about still beliveing there alive but if hes asked he doesn't hide it

He keeps a journal of everything that happens while there gone for them and even writes letters to each of the fallen lots to ruby and jaune most of which he never gives either of them out of embarrassment

Oscar is more angry than he seems but is too scared to blow up or yell like he wants so i think he writes to take out his frustrations maybe some of its poetry or self indulgent revenge tales he feels guilty no matter what and hides them

Oscar and Whitely are friends its not instant i think Whitely is wary of anyone who isn't willow or winter at first but I think he warms up to Oscar the fastest it starts with awkward small talk but grows quickly

I think they play swords with sticks and winter find them and turns it into training but there both still having fun so it doesn't matter

I think winter starts training Whitely and asks Oscar to spare with him sense he's closest to his skill level Oscar takes it easy on Whitely till he gets his bearings and finds Whitely fun to fight so they spare often even with winter training him I don't think Whitely wins often as Oscar has real combat experience but there not overly competitive

Not a head cannon but just an idea since long memory is basically used like a blunt rapier it would be cool if Oscar adopted sword and pistol or sword and dagger like winter i just think it would be neat as well as Oscar to differentiate himself from oz (also if he does sword and dagger the knife is called either pine needle or roses thorn)

Oscar is a morning person on his team only jaune is also a morning person so this leads to his whole team groaning at his morning chipperness

Oscar and jaune are the only ones who drink coffee on team arson ren likes tea emerald prefers energy drinks and Nora hates the way caffeine makes her feel and can barely tolerate soda

Oscar drinks his coffee black and jaune likes lots of sugar so Oscar wakes up extra early to make jaune coffee so he doesn't have to and so he can spend more time with jaune

Southern Oscar

he says y'all and aint like a mother fucker and it pissed Whitely off to no end because of how much of a grammar Nazi Jacque probably was

He also loves country music and has a soft spot for the sad stuff he also likes to sing and is pretty good he even sometimes sings while jaune plays guitar he gets very shy tho and will only let team arson listen and maybe the others but he needs to be hyped up first

Oscar and ozpin sing duets in there head all the time it's very cute and even if oz can't sign he likes to hear Oscar sing and he's less embarrassed if someone sings along

Emerald finds Oscar needs to be hyped up pretty often and just decides that she's gonna take every opportunity to do so oh hes feeling insecure about his looks she tells him how handsome he is and how much she likes the way he dresses he doesnt like his height short king all the way of if he's doubling himself she reminds him that she trusts him tho usually not those exact words

Emerald is very nice but lived in a way where being nice hurt her so now she's catching up on all her kindness with Oscar shes instantly glued to his hip as I think she's an awkward person at heart when she's not scamming or lying and uses being mean and sassy to hide it and she knows Oscar the best so she sticks with him but she feel like she's being annoying so unnecessarily bribes him with food and stuff to hang out with her most of the time they plan on going to eat but do something completely different

Oscar can dance not waltz or tango or nothing fancy just simple things line dancing and stuff you learn in school

Oscars aunt is a big smocker and when he was 12 she got the nastiest brand of cigarette she could and left is somewhere gross so it would get all tar tasting and let him smoke it safe to say Oscar still gags if he smells tobacco smoke

Now these are some rosegarden ones so you can skip that if that's not your style

Oscar has never even kissed a girl before ruby not counting his aunt kissing he cheeks or forehead so he's really scared of messing it up but I head cannon ruby as maybe having kissed one other person but him so she's not any more experienced and there just so perfectly bad at it together

Ruby knows Oscar isn't a huge fan of pda so she tries to keep it to incocent hand holding and occasionally a kiss on the cheek or a goodbye kiss

Oscar is little spoon he likes to feel safe and ruby is a protector and likes to make Oscar feel safe rarely and usually only when she's had nightmares is she little spoon and Oscar doesn't mind

They both are confident people in many ways but are also deeply insecure about many other things oscar doesn't like his height or his scars and i think ruby doesn't like her hands (I actually have a wip I'll never finish about this exact thing )

Ruby definitely gets jealous more than Oscar especially before there officially dating and she hates it she knows its stupid to get jealous over him blushing at neon or holding noras hand or giggling at one of yangs dumb jokes and she tries not to let it get to her especially sense she knows for sure Nora and yang Arent doing it on purpose but she does politely ask neon to stop and she does instead now she teases ruby

I think they don't fight often its usually more tension than fighting them both knowing something is wrong but can't or wont talk about it but when they do fight its usually not for very long they both hate it however they argue constantly but its in good fun and usually about meaningless things like what comic is better or what to have for dinner

As we've seen in volume 8 if ruby gets upset she can yell and she hates doing it especially cause oscar hates it so much

And Oscar is stubborn as hell if he believes he's in the right until ruby yells then he folds and looses all his confidence and that's usually how there arguments end is them apologizing to each other and maybe crying a little

When ruby and Oscar first meet Oscar has never read a comic book before his local library didn't have any so ruby loves showing him the world of comic books which leads them to staying up late into the night discussing them and falling asleep on each other while reading yang and Nora take lots of pictures to tease them with later

I actually don't know if they ever get married I think neither would feel the need but say they do Weiss definitely plans it and is rubies brides maid along with the rest do wby

Jaune is Oscars best man and helps Weiss with the planning

Both of there stag parties are polar opposites Oscars is just him and the guys hanging out and chilling while having fun and rubies is a 9 hour journey where multiple felonies are committed and someone maybe dies ruby made all of them swear to secrecy cause oscar might have a heart attack otherwise

When they first get together yang decides to give them both the talk and its so awkward and yang is so bad at it so eventually blake and ren step in and explain things to them and ruby and Oscar are both still super embarrassed

Yang is very supportive of there relationship she wants ruby to be happy and trusts her to make her own decisions and trusts Oscar not to intentionally hurt her

Qrow on the other hand does not his reasoning being that Oscar might not be long for this world and that will only make ruby more unhappy in the long term but he doesn't stop them hes not her dad and he doesn't get to tell her what to do he knows that and he respects rubies decision to stick by Oscar very early on he decides to try to talk Oscar out of it and he in essence tells qrow to go fuck himself in the least insulting way possible and he respects Oscar for it

Tai and oscar hit it off when they meet they share in a loving of cooking and gardening they are both also huge softies tai of course does the shovel talk but doesn't even take himself seriously when he does and neither does Oscar

Ozpin’s Halfway House AU

Which I have decided to title “A Beacon of Hope”

- Ozpin starts a halfway house for strays, runaways, and juvenile delinquents.

- Oscar (14) was officially adopted by Oz after his parents kicked him out from coming out to them as trans (FTM trans!Oscar is underrated)

- Emerald (16), Mercury (16), and Cinder (20) are the only three in the house court-ordered to stay with him after they got caught stealing to survive.

- Weiss (16) and Whitley (12) show up one day out of the blue after escaping their abusive father.

- Blake (18) ran away from home to join the White Fang and came to him after that went sideways. She's still too scared to go home and Oz's main goal with her is to make her feel safe enough to do so. She helps him a lot around the house.

- I'm creating this AU so you know Cloqwork is involved but I won't rant about that too much (yet). I only mention it because Ruby (16) and Yang (18) still live with Tai, but they visit their uncles all the time and become really close with most of the kids staying there.

- Yang gets super attached to Blake and visits often, finding the smallest excuses to help her around the house and run errands with her (yes, I’m adding Bumbleby to the mix, who do you think I am?).

- Ren (6) and Nora (5) are two little kids Oz noticed snooping around outside the house one day. He questioned them, asking them where their parents were, where they live, if they were lost, etc. When they didn’t have answers to these basic questions he knew what he had to do.

Sheepishly, he walked into the house and found Qrow in the kitchen. The kids are trailing behind him, hiding behind his legs.

“Qrow. Please don’t be mad.”

“Oh no. What did you do, Ozzy?”

Oz hesitantly steps aside, letting the presence of the kids speak for itself. Qrow can’t help but just laugh. He knows where this is going.

“They were just wandering around outside, Qrow! What was I supposed to do!”

Adopt them, obviously! And Qrow agrees. So now they live there, too.

- Pyrrha (22) and Jaune (22) are Oz’s only other staff members. They help the kids with homework, transportation, extra circulars, the more day-to-day stuff.

I’ve said this about many of my ideas, but this one is absolutely the most self-indulgent AU I’ve thought of. I plan on using this setting and these characters to stay focused on my studies this semester so any and all ideas/questions/interactions with it are greatly appreciated XD

No one asked but head canon that I have for some of the characters that shouldn't be a thing and I hope it never becomes canon.

Ruby:

- She's just a lamp at this point, it's good for practice tho

- Absolutely tried to adopted a Beowolf at one point in V4/V5 until Qrow made her stop.

- She can cook... Kinda she just know the basics. The only thing she knows to bake is cookies, like that's it.

- She listen to rock but her favorite band is One Direction.

- She may have cut herself way to many times while cleaning or maintaining Crescent Rose, she's still sad she didn't even got a cool scar put of it because of her aura.

- She once tried to cut her own hair in V4 and then gave up and just decided to wait till some actual decent hairdresser could do it for her.

- She doesn't know how to pronounce correctly some stuffs so she just call them "thingy"

- Tried to dyed her hair all red like Gerard Way... Yang didn't let her touch any hair products for 5y.

Weiss:

- Doesn't know how to drive a bicycle and at this point of her life she's just afraid of asking.

- "I don't cook, I don't clean"

- Later Yang taught her how to clean, so at least the dorm isn't as much of a disaster.

- "Yes I have a scar in my eye, no I'm not blind"

- The only fiction book she actually read was Sailor Moon manga and that's why she uses combat skirts.

- Her favorite character is Sailor Venus

- Ruby once showed her the anime and she just cried, cuz "goddamit there's way to many episodes Ruby".

- She fights everyone just for shit and giggles, she just enjoy the drama.

- She knows how to play the kazoo for some strange reason.

Blake:

- She will never tell anyone but she onced read an hentai by accident at the age of 12 and since then she has a phobia of tentacles.

- Is a bad influence... Specially to Ruby.

- She once skipped an entire day of classes because she was sleepy, Weiss was really mad at her.

- "Men, I wish I had the money to buy that" Proceeds to hack the system so the company sends her shit for free

- Yang has to tell her she can't just continue doing illegal shits now that's she's at school and out of the White Fang.

- Sometimes she just look directly at Weiss eyes and just break some shits to make her upset.

- "Blake, isn't your abdomen too exposed on battle?" "I want them to know I'm hotter than them Illia"

- "High boots? Check. Skinny pants? Check. Fat ass? Check. Ok I'm ready to fuck shit up"

Yang:

- She loves every type of music but she only knows how to twerk with classic music.

- Knows every word of "Bet on it".

- Used to watch Turtle Ninjas and Michelangelo is her favorite.

- The hot lesbian weeb, geek, nerd and jock everyone loves.

- For some reason she knows ton shit of History and Philosophy.

- She once made an essay about High School Musical named "Sharpay Evans was the real victim."

- She is a fanatic of car/bike video games like Need for Speed, etc

- Absolutely loves GTA and she used to play with Velvet and Blake all the time in Beacon

- She and Nora once went outside on a stormy day to see if by Nora activating her semblance she could electrocuted Yang so she could activate her own semblance... It strangely worked.

- She can't really cook but she's an amazing baker... Tho she only bakes on Ruby's birthday

- She has a whole archives of blueprint of some motors, cars, bikes, weapons, etc.

- Yang and Blake just used to go to clubs or bars to bet money on some dudes in pool and blackjack knowing damn well Blake was an expert on both.

- Yang knows different instruments, her favorite song to play is the Wii Sports song

Jaune:

- He loves romantic movies, The Notebook always makes him cry

- He learned to play guitar to impress girls to make him look like a tough guy, now he just play acoustic covers of Britney Spears discography.

- Circus is a personal favorite of him.

- He knows how to dance, used to do ballet with his sisters and once a boyfriend of one of his sisters taught him hiphop

- Has a teddy bear that he brings everywhere with him.

Nora:

- Fav food is pancakes but she absolutely loves eating pizza

- She always gives strange ideas to Yang since she knows Yang is a closet nerd and geek.

- She saw Pokemon once and since then have tried to imitate Pikachu attacks.

- Power Ranger is her shit.

- Hot girl shit

- If Ruby is a lamp, then she's a charger.

Ren:

- He did tried to dyed his hair pink but didn't like the result so decided for just a part of his hair pink.

- Everyone things he's the normal one of the group until you listen to him in a deep discussion with Weiss about Sailor Moon.

- Him and Blake casually bond once because of tea and now they just recommend each other new teas they have tried.

- He absolutely loves cartoons, Samurai Jack is one of his fav.

- The emo kid that is also a sunshine.

Oscar:

- "I cook and I clean"

- He just think Yang is cool and it doesn't matter how much Weiss tries to make him stop thinking that Ruby just tells some cool story about Yang.

- "Sir, they are my found family, can you please take me back to them?"

- Loves talking with Blake, she's always giving him books recommendations and she's one of the few that don't strictly treat him like a kid.

- He tried playing video games with Ruby... Let just say he prefers spending time with Ren now.

- Knows every word of Short King Anthem, he sings the chorus while Weiss and Nora rap the other 2 verses.

- He watch Love Island religiously and even has the game in his scroll.

Bonus:

- Sun made a GC with only Illia and Yang on it so they could talk about Blake but he forgot they don't have international communications anymore.

- Coco and Yang and Blake used to go to the same gay bar.

- Summer used to curse when playing video games with Qrow and one day Ruby heard her. Since Ruby could barely talk she didn't cared until at dinner Ruby said "Fuck" In her tiny baby voice and that's the first word Ruby said... Also Qrow was banned of playing video games with the girls in the same room because Summer blamed him.

- Phyrra was a musical fanatic that she and Yang just watched a musical every Sunday.

Cinder stepped out of her room. "I want to go."

"Where, dearie?" the old woman asked, her gossamer wings giving a little flutter.

"I... don't know... I just want to!.."

"Well, do be back by supper."

Cinder just stared at her, unsure of what to do. The old woman seemed to sincerely want Cinder to return.

Cinder walked the narrow streets of Mistral. So low on the mountain, but for the moment that certainly suited her. Less people were watching her here, even if there were more eyes. There were even Faunus walking around, something that wouldn't be happening up the hill. She had no idea what she was doing, but it was nice to be getting even a bit of sunlight right now.

Jaune stood in front of Ruby in the gymnasium. "I," he voiced, "REALLY don't think this is a good idea." Jaune voiced.

"Ruby," Yang said, "needs to learn to fight bigger opponents."

Ruby was just staring up at Jaune.

"I'm," Jaune voiced, "not going to punch Ruby."

"Maybe a love tap." Yang said, pantomiming a jab.

"I guess." Jaune grumbled..

"Ruby?" Yang asked, but she was still staring. Jaune then tapped her with his fist, and she finally seemed to snap out it.

"I feel like a mouse looking at a lion." Ruby voiced.

"I thought you were a wolf?" Weiss asked, and Ruby quickly dropped down to all fours.

"Not what I was thinking," Yang voiced, "but let's roll with it."

"Alright?" Jaune disaffectedly asked, "If I kick you, and it hurts..."

"Lick your wounds?" Yang asked.

"You could always heal her." Blake stated.

"Doesn't mean I want to hurt her..." Jaune sighed. "Alright, no ankle biting."

Ruby looked at him nervously.

"Were you?.." Weiss asked, "actually planning to bite him."

"I really don't know." Ruby voiced.

"Alright," Yang said, "enough flirting."

"Really?" Ruby asked.

"You're supposed to be fighting." Yang added. "You can flirt later."

"Oh, right?" Ruby asked, and ran to the side, turning into a burst of rose petals. Jaune dejectedly turned his head part way until he stopped following her. Ruby reverted right behind him and put everything into her punch. Jaune did not even flinch, and Ruby paused to shake her fist. She burst away and reappeared on all fours across the room. She stood up, emphatically pointing at Jaune. "That's just unfair!"

Jaune tiredly looked over his shoulder, "I'm the one who got punched."

"And YOU hurt ME! How could you hurt me, Jaune?!"

"Ruby..." Weiss admonished as she walked over to her, and briefly wrapped her arm around Ruby's shoulder.

"But?.." Ruby pouted.

"If I could?" Ren asked, and walked into the centre of the gym, and Jaune nodded at him. "How do you fight?" Ren asked her.

"Okay... I'm just... not really..."

"How do you fight with your scythe?" Ren asked.

"Oh! Slashing!" Ruby exclaimed.

"Ruby?," Jaune asked, "how do you fight with a giant scythe?"

"I really don't know..." Ruby voiced.

"AURA!" Qrow shouted.

"I use Aura?" Ruby asked.

"I don't know what else you would be using." Qrow added. "Long story short, Huntsmen and Huntresses use Aura for basically everything they are doing. You are adding your Aura to your weapon without even knowing about it. You just need something to channel your Aura into."

"Like what?" Ruby asked.

Qrow showed her his right hand, "I use rings, myself. Yang uses the crash plates on her knuckle dusters. Ren just uses his bare hands."

"Primarily my open palm." Ren stated.

"Can you teach me to do that?" Ruby asked.

"Once you choose what kind of hand-to-hand fighting style to want to use." Ren stated.

"There are different styles?" Ruby curiously asked.

"How?.." Weiss sighed, "did you?.. make it into Beacon?.."

"I stopped a robbery, and Professor Ozpin recruited me."

"That..." Weiss said with mild scorn, "does explain quite a bit."

Ren adopted a fluid, moving stance, and narrowed his hands into daggers. "Snake styles focus on fluid movements, knife-strikes that are almost impossible to block, and using your body to encircle your opponent." He demonstrated some movements while explaining it. "Tiger style is a hard style."

"Which means?.." Ruby asked.

"Strong, direct power, explosive strikes." Ren said, mimicking the movements. "Crane style," he said, and adopted a crane stance, "allows you to use your dangling leg as a counterweight. It focuses on sweeping, long range attacks."

Weiss elegantly cleared her throat and raised her hand.

"Yes?" Ren asked.

"Can we call it Heron style?" Weiss asked, and Ren paused mid-motion. He nearly collapsed, taking a moment to recover and stand up properly. He slowly developed a wide smile.

"Indeed." Ren said with glee. "It would be an honour to develop a style for you."

Ruby raised her hand, "Is there a wolf style!?"

"Yes." Ren stated, "It focuses on moving into your opponent's space, low fighting, ground fighting, and brutal strikes."

Ruby started jumping up and down. "Ooh! Ooh! Let's do that!"

"I will remind everyone that I am not an expert on most fighting styles. I honestly just learned enough to pick my styles."

"Which are?!" Ruby asked, raising her hand.

"Various snake styles, along with Tai Chi." Ren stated.

"So?" Yang asked, "Should we, I don't know, try to find a master?!"

"That does sound like a wonderful idea while we are idling in Mistral." Ren replied.

"Are there?.." Blake asked, "Cat styles?"

"Large cat styles." Ren replied.

Blake looked about nervously. "Why is everyone looking at me like that?.."

"I think they figured out that the kitty-cat is a kitty-cat, not a panther." Yang said.

Blake nervously looked down, ears cycling between those present.

"What kind of style do I use?" Nora asked.

"And old Atlasian style." Ren stated. "It focuses more on direct power."

"Unlike... tiger?" Weiss asked.

"Explosive power." Ren stated. "Of those here, Jaune's style is probably the closest to her."

"What about me?" Yang asked.

"Formerly Mistralian styles, but with heavy Valean influences." Ren stated.

Jaune then looked at Blake, "What style should Blake learn?"

"She already has her own style," Ren voiced, "not reminiscent of anything I know of. But, she could learn striking styles to add to her own, and it really depends on what kind of strikes she would like to make."

"Like... punches?" Ruby asked.

"Punching is merely one form of attack with the hand." Ren stated, "As Jaune pointed out, when finishing off a Grimm I tend to use open-palm Aura strikes." Ren then turned to Blake, "Open-hand strikes would work wonderfully with your more agile fighting style."

Oscar slowly walked into the group, slowly raising his hand.

"What's up?" Ruby asked him.

"And... me?.." Oscar asked, and Ren shrugged.

"Ozpin stated," Ren said to him, "that his muscle memory will return to you with time, meaning you already KNOW how to fight, you just need the physical capability to do so."

"And...?" Nora asked, "that means?.."

"There are plenty of short-staff and cane fighting styles." Ren stated, "It would be the most likely way to access your A Priori knowledge."

"A?.. whatnow?.." Jaune asked.

"What you inherently know." Ren stated, and saw no recognizition, "As opposed to what you learn."

"Wait?," Jaune said, "how do we know anything without learning it?"

"From the Faunus who can sense Aura with his considerable antlers." Ren voiced.

"And that sounds like it's getting philosophical." Qrow voiced, standing between the two, "Plenty of time for that later, for now, let's practice fighting."

Aurora walked down the stairs, "I have a pair of masters who would be delighted to teach you."

Jaune's head snapped over to her, "How... did you... just how?.."

In return she just gave him a smug smile.

"She did a marvelous job," Weiss stated, "but I feel all the praise you give her might go to her head."

"If I did any less," Aurora stated, "I would not be worthy of serving Weiss Schnee."

Weiss stared at her with shock. "But... I am... I am no longer an heiress?" Weiss asked.

"That doesn't mean you aren't one of the best people on Remnant." Aurora shyly answered. "You are a startling angel, who's grace blesses us."

"That..." Blake voiced, "sounds a lot like something Jaune would say."

"They do get along pretty well." Yang said. "Wait..." she said, staring at Jaune, "You ain't pinin' for her?"

"I'm not... what?.." Jaune asked.

"Are you," Weiss asked Yang, "jealous?"

"...maybe..." Yang voiced, "I mean..."

Jaune let out an incredibly loud sigh, followed by an audible inhale. "Four girls is MORE than enough." Jaune's deep voice echoed. "Wait, I didn't mean - okay..." he breathed in deeply once again, "I'm not - looking - for - anymore. Also, I'm, what?, dating her boss. Isn't that like a thing, like a bad thing?"

"It could be considered coercive." Blake voiced, and Jaune pointed at her.

"Yeah, that." Jaune said, "I don't know how many guys want twenty wives, or something... but... yeah... that's like, WAY too many. Still surprised I got four."

Weiss used her glyph to elegantly catapult herself to Jaune, and tried her best to wrap her arms around him as she elegantly stood on the ground.

Qrow looked over at Ilia, "Now, since she intends to play the strong, silent type... which... is exactly what we need more of." Qrow sarcastically voiced, "What about her?"

"Is there a lizard style?" Nora asked.

"There is..." Ren voiced, "though rare. Perhaps Ba Gua Quan, with it's more circlular movements?"

Have you got any thoughts on RWBY V8 so far?

RWBY is one of those shows where I am perfectly happy turning my brain off and having a good time, so my thoughts are not going to be nearly as polished as the ones from people who blog about it regularly.

Mantle go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr because they have no heat.

Coolest thing each year is how much polish time gives the art. The opening is one I’m a little less hyped for than last year’s, but Ironwood on his crumbling chessboard is an image that sticks. What the music doesn’t do for me, art direction does.

The consideration has entered my mind that Oscar is not borrowing Dorothy from Ruby for a hot second by being kidnapped by a winged abomination. Zwei was a red herring. Oscar is Toto.

My kingdom for Ruby’s sad faces at Whitley meaning she’s noticed he’s basically the version of his sister that Ruby accidentally blew up when they first met. She and Weiss have come a long way, but that’s not exactly something you forget, and Ruby definitely has some sort of non-aggressive reaction to Whitley being Whitley. I would love for her to give him a shred of positive company. More and more, he’s looking like the sad little boy he is, and yes, yes, this is all my way of begging for White Rose crumbs. Ruby has met this family’s brokenness before, exploit it.

Ren and Nora are making me sad in a way I did not ask for. Ren could use five hugs and the world not being in peril, and heck, Nora could use that too. I like how Ren’s self-destructing, except for that I hate it and would like it to stop. Cool characters losing their chill is a crack I will accept happily.

Salem is wonderful and good. Yes, I know she’s evil. What of it?

Similarly, Neo is perfection with an parasol and deserved to get kicked in the face by Maria, and I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do when she finally decides Cinder can go ahead and die if she wants to that badly.

Cinder sure does exist.

I’m going to spend each new episode waiting for verification that Penny is fine, is going to be fine, will always be fine, and it won’t cost her dad’s life. Cool? Cool.

Qrow in his cell is more depressing than I thought it’d be, but I’m glad he finally found a bandit who doesn’t treat him like crap. Even if I just realized now that Qrow is raised by typical Bad Bandits and Robin Hood is the most famous Good Bandit. He has found where he belongs. I think Robyn adopting him is good, even though their individual missions mean they probably won’t get to team up after the Atlas arc.

I like how Winter has expression on her face regularly now. Love that for her.

Ruby’s semblance gets an A+ with a rose petal for a sticker instead of a gold star.

Overall, I’m enjoying this season quite a bit. As you can see, I’m just along for the ride, but that’s the opposite of a bad thing for me. It’s nice that the story has a cadence that makes it possible to relax and go with the flow each week.

RWBY: After Salem (concepts here are free for anyone to use, just give credit)

In the final battle with Salem the heroes combine the power Ruby’s silver eyes with that of all four maidens to purge her of the Grimm essence and manage to get her to admit that she’s moved on from her daughters deaths resulting in her losing her immortality. Aging thousands of years in seconds she was soon dust. However before her defeat Salem managed to unite the four relics. The Brothers had returned. Displeased by the conflict still existing they were about to judge humanity as irredeemable when the heroes convinced them that humanity was not that far gone. Listening to their argument the Brothers agreed that humanity was neither worthy of them returning nor did they deserve extermination. Thus they returned to the stars. Before leaving however the God of Darkness left a gift. One in every five hundred babies born after this day would have the gift of magic. In time the four maidens would create the Seasons Academy to teach these new magic users how to use their gifts. Magic users have weaker semblances so the scales are not too unbalanced. Magic users are given the title of Wizard or Witch and act like Huntsmen, protecting the people of Remnant from the always present danger of the Grimm. The Huntsmen Academies lowered the age requirements after Salem’s final plan involved destroying many of the minor academies. In the following years much has changed. One such change is that Menagerie is now an official kingdom. Technology has advanced at a rapid pace, trains using anti gravity technology connect most cities. As a result trips that would have taken days now take a matter of hours. Due to this more and more cities rise outside the kingdom borders. The heroes of team RWBY and JNOR and their allies have all begun new lives after the fall of Salem.

Ruby and Oscar are married with four children. Ruby now runs a weapon repair and modification store with Nora while Oscar writes books about the past Ozes. Maria Pine-18 Lyme Pine-16 Sunny (M) and Luna (F) Pine-12 year old twins. They don’t possess magic or have silver eyes but their parents have made it very clear they love them all the same. Especially after they learned about Maria’s insecurities. Sunny and Luna have reached the phase where they want to be individuals instead of just one half of twins. Recently they unlocked their semblances. Sunny can sense aura and Luna can read body language. Based on Apollo and Artemis. Blake and Yang are married with two adopted children. Blake works to help Faunus equality across Remnant while Yang helps design and test new vehicles for the SDC. Tawny Belladonna-Xiao Long-18 Vivi Belladonna-Xiao Long-17 Weiss and Jaune are married with three children. Weiss took over SDC and is working to undo the damage done by her father while Jaune teaches combat at a local academy. Nichole Schnee-19 Maple Schnee- 13- Named in honor of Pyrrha. She inherited her mother’s singing voice and has a huge love of music. In fact she wants to enter the music industry rather than become a Huntress. To her relief her parents told her they’d support whatever decision she made. William Schnee- 10- A curious young boy with an interest in science. He loves touring the various SDC research labs with his mother. Ren and Nora are married with three children. Ren is the mayor of a rebuilt Kuroyuri while Nora runs a weapon repair and modification store with Ruby. Lie Balder-17 Lie Nezha-16 Lie Sif-15 The headmasters remain a part of Oscar’s inner circle however with the fall of Salem their mission is now to continue to guide all of Remnant into everlasting peace and preventing future disasters. Beacon- Glynda Goodwitch Haven- Ghira Belladonna, took over informally after the battle of Haven and made official around a year later. Shade- Otto Dune, A dog faunus, friend and ally of Professor Theodore, he took over after Theodore retired. Atlas- Robyn Hill, after the fall of Ironwood Robyn was placed in charge of Atlas Academy allowing her to lead a new generation away from the military and teach them how to act like proper Huntsmen. The current Maidens Spring- Raven Branwen- After the battle of Haven Raven lost everything, her tribe lost all respect for her, Taiyang rejected her, she had nowhere to go. Eventually she decided she needed to redeem herself and began spying on Salem’s forces delivering vital intel to the heroes. Summer- July Storms- When the heroes arrived in Vacuo they befriended sisters June and July Storms. They soon discovered that June was the Summer Maiden. During a battle with Cinder June stayed behind to buy the others time to escape. Once they were safe she called down a bolt of lightning to kill her before the powers could be stolen. Her sister was the last one in her thoughts so July gained the powers and has been the Summer Maiden ever since. Autumn- Emerald Sustrai- In a fit of rage Cinder revealed that she never truly cared for Emerald as anything more than a pawn. Broken Emerald fled Salem’s fortress with Mercury. They joined the heroes to save their own lives from Salem and Cinder’s wrath. During a battle Emerald used her semblance to distract Cinder long enough for Ruby and Jaune to kill her. Her last thoughts were of Emerald so the power of Autumn went to her. Winter- Penny Polendina- After the fall of Ironwood many Atlesian soldiers who were loyal to him and the ideal that “Atlas Will Prevail” deserted and formed an underground cell known as the Frozen Soldiers. Lead by Harriet now known as Snow Hare (the only Ace-Op who refused to surrender) they will stop at nothing to bring down the other Kingdoms. Penny has devoted much time and effort into stopping their plans. Beacon Staff Headmistress- Glynda Goodwitch- The first headmistress of Beacon. Once Beacon was rebuilt the decision to name her headmistress was unanimous.  History- Dr Bartholomew Oobleck- Still his energetic self always eager to share knowledge with anyone willing to learn. Grimm Studies- Peter Port- Still bombastic and passing on his wisdom and experience. Head of Security- Gordon Ryder- Gordon’s semblance allows him to create orbs of aura that act as his eyes and ears. He is capable of creating multiple orbs and has them placed around the boundaries of the campus. However while keeping track of them he often loses track of what’s happening around his own body. Origin- The Headless Horseman Combat Instructor- Paulina “Babe” Bunyan- A bull faunus, her semblance allows her to spot the weak point in things or people which allowed her to help her lumberjack father when she was a child. Origin- Paul Bunyan Airship Piloting- Skye Gale- When he was younger his hubris caused an airship crash that nearly killed him. After recovering he set forward to teach others to learn from his mistake. Origin- Icarus. Wilderness Survival - Forest Mann- The son of explorers who perished during a jungle expedition his semblance and basic wilderness training allowed him to survive. His semblance allows him to copy the traits of nearby animals. After making it back to civilization years later he began teaching others how to survive the wilderness. Origin- Mowgli/Tarzan Beacon Teams Fourth Year Team MNTY Maria Pine- Growing up Maria couldn’t help but feel like she was in the shadow of heroes and legends and as a result she grew insecure. Her desire to prove herself “worthy” eventually results in her being injured on a training mission. After that she admits her insecurity to her parents and her team who help her grow past it and see her own self worth. Like her father Maria can use magic. Appearance: 18 years old. 5ft 8in- Brown hair to shoulders Hazel eyes Outfit: Light red top with maroon corset. maroon shorts. Light red tights with green vine design, roses on knees. Shark Faunus- Shark gills allowing her to breathe under water. Outfit: Teal wetsuit with wave pattern, armor plating on shoulders, elbows, knees, torso. Optional flippers. Emblem: A series of waves descending in size Emblem Location: Shoulder armor Aura Color: Teal Semblance: Hydrokinesis- Can control water as long as it’s in liquid form. Can even shape weapons out of it. The more water she controls the more aura it takes. Weapon: Ebb and Flow- Twin pistols modified to shoot water. Using her semblance she can boost the power of the water to the point it can cut through metal. Carries a dagger called Shark’s tooth as a back up. After a few missions begins using a harpoon as her main weapon to conserve on water. Partner: Maria Pine Origin: The Little Mermaid Theo Schwartz- Due to a less than stellar home situation he attempts to defuse tense situations with humor. He believes in being prepared and carries many tools and items in his hat including a set of throwing knives, tents, medical kits, food and water. Not to mention his team’s ammo. Appearance: 18 years old. 5ft 9in. Short black hair. Green eyes. Cat Faunus- Cat whiskers. Outfit: Black pants. White shirt with black dress coat. Red bow tie. Tall hat with red and white stripes. Emblem: A hand reaching into a hat Emblem Location: Back of coat Aura Color: Ebony Semblance: Hat Trick- A pocket dimension inside his hat where he can store and retrieve any inorganic item he wants. Partner: York Letterson Origin: The Cat in the Hat York Letterson- A firm believer in the phrase “Knowledge is power” York is almost always reading. He is eager to learn and teach as much as he can and often volunteers to tutor other students. When he has free time he can often be found in the library. Appearance: 18 years old. 5ft 5in. Long green hair reaching down his back. Often in twin ponytails. Green eyes. Outfit: Dark green pants. Light green button up top with a pocket on the upper left breast. Dark green armor over the shirt with light green pads on arms and legs. Pair of reading glasses. Emblem: A head of lettuce Emblem Location: Shirt pocket Aura Color: Green Semblance: Prehensile Hair- Can control and use his hair as weapons or extra arms. In a pinch can even shoot strands like darts. If the hair is cut it will regrow to normal length within days due to all the aura inside it. Weapon: Close Shave- A pair of blades with gun barrels in the tips. Blades can be combined into a scissors form. In scissors mode it can be thrown like a boomerang. Partner: Theo Schwartz Origin: Rapunzel Team NGHT Nichole Schnee- From a young age her parents made sure she knew that her name made her no more important and no better than anyone else. She is kind and generous and always looking for ways to help others with the Schnee fortune. She’s very aware there’s still plenty of damage to undo from her grandfather. In battle she will often target powerful or unique Grimm to add to her semblance. Appearance: 19 years old. 5ft 10in. Long light blue hair in double ponytails. Light blue eyes. Outfit: Light blue dress with white fur pattern trim. Dress ends little above knees. Blue and white stripped stockings. Light blue boots. White gloves. Armored breastplate, armor on lower arms and shins. All armor is ice themed. Emblem: Schnee snowflake with a sword resembling the sword part of Crocea Mors Emblem Location: Knee and elbow armor Aura Color: Light blue Semblance: Grimm Aspects- She summons pieces of Grimm to use herself. She can call on the wings of a Teryx or a Nevermore, the claws of a Sabyr, the armor of an Arms Gigas, punching power of a Beringel. Like normal summons if they receive enough damage they’ll dissipate. Weapon: Cyros- Icicle themed javelin that doubles as a rifle. The shield part of Crocea Mors. Partner: Guile Widows Origin: Christmas Elf Guile Widows- A cunning strategist who excels at using his enemies own actions against them. He prefers to lure targets into his webs and let them tire themselves out trying to escape. Appearance: 19 years old. 6ft. Black hair with eight dreadlocks, four on each side. Brown eyes. Outfit: Black cargo pants with a mild webbing pattern. Gray shirt with black straps from backpack forming an “X”. Fingerless gloves. Emblem: Eight eyes, top pair are farthest apart and bottom pair are closest together. Emblem Location: Bandana Aura Color: Black Semblance: Aura Webs- Webs that can catch, contain, or even act as nets. Weapon: Spider’s Bite- Twin curved swords with guns in the hilts. Partner: Nichole Schnee Origin: Anansi Hunter Python- Strict and serious he considers being a huntsman too serious to joke about. To his dismay his partner Tawny has made it his mission to get him to laugh at least once a day. Hunter is very reluctant to use his semblance due to its nature. However if lives are at stake he will do so with frightening effect. Appearance: 18 years old. 5ft 11in. Brown hair. Snake Faunus- Snake eyes, yellow with green pupils. Outfit: Green boots with a snake skin pattern. Yellow-green cargo pants. Yellow shirt under a green hoodie. Yellow-Green armor with scale pattern over hoodie. Emblem: Stylized snake head Emblem Location: Pockets of pants Aura Color: Yellow-Green Semblance: Hypnoeyes- Can command people to do things. Stronger commands require more aura and concentration and a command too far removed from what the subject would normally do will not be followed. When activated his eyes glow green. Requires full eye contact Weapon: Serpent Staff- Staff that can separate into chain linked segments. Can also shoot from the mouth of the serpent. Fortunately a pair of drifters rescued the boy and helped him recover. The pair were retired huntsmen and they trained him until he was accepted to Beacon. - Weiss (the most diverse, time dilation, dust glyphs, platform glyphs, and Summoning glyphs. Each one has their upsides and downsides but Weiss overall probably has the best semblance imo.)

- Nora (get power from electricity, electricity is basically everywhere, just don’t get too much and you’re good.)

Oscar Pine: Treatment and Characterization in Volume Six

It’s Friday! Which means I get to spend my time writing meta if I so choose. Today’s topic is Oscar. Specifically the question posed by @dreanner95 on another post of mine: “How have the characters in the show treated Oscar badly?” (Full asks are at the end of the meta.) I’ve covered this topic at length in my episode recaps, but I want to pull everything together into one post, both for easy, future access---here’s the answer to this question!---as well as to put the whole of it into perspective. Because as we’ll see in a moment, Oscar’s treatment is something slow and perpetual. You’ve got to take it all into account to understand just how badly things are going for him.

To start, though this meta is focused on the material of Volume Six, it’s worth pointing out something from Volume Five. Namely that Oscar isn’t an integrated part of the team yet. Volume Five is easy-going material compared to Volume Six. A whole lot of hanging out around the house as opposed to stressful, traumatic encounters with baddies. Meaning, that was the perfect time to start incorporating Oscar into the main group, but that didn’t happen very much. Not to the extent we need it to. Because Oscar isn’t just Oscar anymore, he’s Oscar housing Ozpin, and it’s Ozpin who bears the focus of everyone’s attention (a problem that becomes exacerbated in Volume Six). The vast majority of Oscar’s scenes feature Ozpin speaking, or are about Oscar’s new relationship with Ozpin, or are more generally about the war and how to prepare for it---see the training scene where Oscar is struggling to learn the basics of combat. For the most part Oscar is not at the center of anyone’s attention, Ozpin is, with the exception being Ruby’s talk with him downstairs. There Ozpin keeps quiet to let the two work out their grief and fears, making it one of the most powerful moments of the volume. But it’s not nearly enough. I’ve spoken before about how we don’t know much of anything about Oscar. Unlike the other characters who all embody details that help us to see them as well-rounded individuals---Yang loves making jokes and her bike, Blake is a bibliophile and invested in faunus rights, Jaune still wears a Pumpkin Pete sweatshirt and trains at night with Pyrrha’s video, etc.---three volumes in and Oscar is still defined almost exclusively by that moment when Ozpin slammed into his head and everything that has happened since then. No hobbies, no dreams, no talk of his family... we’re given only one, narrow lens to view him through. Which doesn’t just make it more difficult for the audience to become invested in him, but difficult for the other characters as well. Oscar doesn’t join the group during their bonding dinner. With the exception of Ruby, he doesn’t get to form strong ties with them. He’s the outsider here, the one person who doesn’t have a year of Beacon friendship and life or death missions to draw on, and it shows. Because though the cast clearly loves him (more on that later) his outsider status remains, making it really easy for the others to dismiss him, hurt him, or shrug him off when things start getting tough. Because he’s not really one of them. This isn’t Jaune with Ozpin stuck in his head. Or Ruby. Or Yang. It’s just Oscar, the random kid who appeared on our doorstep one day, joined our group when we never asked, and who we still know next to nothing about even after three volumes of material. The characters just don’t care about him as much as they do the core group, even though at this point they should, setting up a situation wherein he becomes expendable. Especially when everyone is focused on getting back at Ozpin. They’re willing to hurt Oscar to get at Ozpin in a way I don’t think they’d be comfortable with if it was anyone else. If Nora had Ozpin stuck in her head? No one would be assaulting her or saying she’s doomed to just be his meatsuit her whole life. They’d defend and support her in ways no one is willing to do for the literal child of the group. Because no one has been given the chance to get to know the kid and come to truly care for him. 

So let’s rehash what the group actually does to Oscar over the course of Volume Six.

To start, there is that ongoing sense that he has no place in this group. Oscar exists only as a vessel for Ozpin. When everyone is waiting for the train the focus in clearly on team dynamics. “I know you’re worried, Weiss, but trust us. Team RWBY won’t leave your side for a second!” Yang and Ruby are interacting as sisters. Nora and Ren are interacting as a couple. There’s a clear division between RWBY and JNR visually, with the former on the right side of the screen and the latter on the left. 

Oscar sits sort of between both, not speaking, not being spoken to until Ozpin makes a joke about the train goons hopefully not being from Beacon. Then Oscar expands on the humor and gets a round of appreciative nods. That’s it though. On the train Team RWBY and their Uncle Qrow all make plans to play video games. We know Team JNR was hanging out because they all arrive together when trouble starts. Meanwhile, we find Oscar in a cabin full of random people. He’s not spending time with or being invited to either group here. He’s just got Ozpin. Ozpin who is the focus of everyone’s attention. When the others arrive Jaune immediately asks, “What’s going on?” and it’s pretty clear the question is directed at Ozpin, not Oscar. Because Oscar just insisted that he wanted to keep control, but now he’s fumbling. He doesn’t know what’s going on and now here Jaune is (unintentionally) reminding him of that. He’s a farm boy, not a huntsmen. Certainly not the huntsmen either. Everyone wants Ozpin around to fix things and if there’s nothing to fix? You don’t need to stay.

It’s a dynamic that’s going to repeat throughout the volume, starting at the farm house. Ruby will go off with Weiss, Blake will go off with Yang... and everyone is going to leave Oscar to stay behind with Maria, doing nothing and being babied. 

Team RWBY will go retrieve the relic. Oscar can once again stay behind and figure out how to fix their transportation. Because Qrow will be busy drinking. 

And then again in “Dead End,” which I’ll get to below.

After the train we have the punch scene and I’m not sure how else to explain to people how not okay this is. I don’t care how high emotions were. Oscar is bearing the brunt of Ozpin’s (perceived) sins in a truly horrendous manner. He’s intimidated, screamed at, chucked into a tree. Keep in mind this is the body that only started figuring out aura a few weeks ago and we’re shown straight out that Qrow’s punch, a punch from an incredibly powerful huntsmen, hurt like hell. The second Ozpin leaves Oscar is wincing and touching his cheek.

What stands out to me is not that the cast is human and makes mistakes and loses their temper---because obviously all those things are valid---but rather that we see throughout the course of Volume Six that no one is willing to acknowledge, let alone act on, the fact that Oscar is a victim of circumstance. No one calls Qrow out on hitting the innocent kid along with the guy he’s mad at. No one tries to calm things down so that Oscar isn’t shouldering their tempers when he’s done nothing wrong. Everyone is happy to vent their anger and fears on him because he’s convenient. Case in point, even with Ozpin gone Yang is still screaming in his face. She doesn’t care if that’s Ozpin or Oscar. Same body, no difference.

No one cares enough about Oscar as an individual to question how their actions might hurt him along with Ozpin. They don’t care enough about him as an individual, period. With the knowledge that Ozpin is truly gone for the moment, the group segues into ignoring him. Oscar is in the process of breaking down right in front of them---grabbing his hair, yelling about how he needs it all to stop---but the group talks over him, jumping straight to panic about what they’ll do now that Ozpin has left. Oscar is no longer functioning as their go-between. He’s useless, he looks like a man they hate, and he doesn’t have that emotional connection to the group. So why do they care that he’s having a breakdown? They don’t. Imagine if this was literally anyone else in the cast. The group would be all comfort and sympathy. Instead, we’re given a shot that could easily be from Oscar’s perspective. His entire identity is falling apart and all he’s given in response to that is Weiss looming over him, still talking about Ozpin, still only worrying about how this all effects them. A ‘them’ Oscar isn’t fully a part of. 

It’s a problem that Ruby tries to address by giving him back his cane, but Qrow undermines that like whoa.

I shouldn’t have to establish how utterly horrible this is. The adult telling the child, ‘No. You’re not your own person. Get over it. I’m a good guy for telling you the hard truth.’ It’s made even worse by Ruby’s silence. She doesn’t challenge Qrow’s words. Her sad expression conveys that she agrees with him---her earlier words were indeed “lies”---and Oscar is left to walk away, once again without any support. What little he was offered was wrenched away from him by an authority figure. Throughout "The Coming Storm” we see just how isolated he is. He walks at the very back of the group, away from everyone else. He looks terrified entering the house, re-emphasizing that he’s not a trained huntsmen like the rest of the group and was never given a choice about adopting this life. When he helps Blake and Weiss move the dresser in front of the door, they hold a short conversation over his head. As Ruby approaches the pictures on the wall, we hear Oscar theorizing about how this room is a study or a library, but no one answers him. Then, as said, they all split and leave Oscar behind, despite the fact that he’s the first to back Ruby’s plan to look for supplies. On their own none of these details necessarily mean anything, but put together they paint a bleak picture---and one that I am personally familiar with. I’ve been in groups where I’m clearly the outsider and this is precisely how I’m inclined to act: try to be helpful even when it goes ignored, try to start conversations even when no one answers. You just keep trying because what else can you do? You feel horribly awkward, but it’s better than accepting that no one wants to interact with you. 

Note that all of this is a direct parallel to what we get in “Dead End.” Both moments begin with Oscar trying to help the group, first by giving them a means of accessing the secrets they so desperately want---“Say her name to summon her”---here by starting a pep-talk when Ruby is unable to. “Look, none of this is great, we know,” Oscar says. “But we’re not the bad guys here.” To which Jaune responds with, “Are we sure about that?” Now, suddenly, Oscar isn’t just the bystander who happens to be hurt along the way. He is the immediate victim here. All the dialogue is directed to and about Oscar, blaming him and putting the responsibility on his shoulders: “He’s in your head isn’t he?” “Did you already know about this?” “How much longer can we even trust him?” “How do we even know it’s really him?”

We have another physical assault, this time with Jaune slamming Oscar against the wall and shaking him. 

Weiss, Yang, and Ruby yell out, but none of them make a move to stop him. Everyone just stands there, allowing Jaune to do as he pleases. In the past year people have been very uncomfortable with me referring to the group as kids or children, insisting that real life markers of adulthood (hitting 18) trumps their lack of experience and emotional instability. These are adults, Clyde. Okay then. Let’s work with that. This is an adult attacking a child. For the second time in as many days. We have now twice seen an adult use a 14yo as an emotional and literal punching bag, doing whatever they please to the real life equivalent of a middle schooler.

And once again, no one cares. Oscar was just attacked again, he flinches when Jaune walks past, and the first words out of anyone’s mouth are worry for Jaune. Not the kid who just dealt with a much bigger, much stronger, much older man taking his anger out on him. Not the kid who is standing right there and listening to where everyone’s loyalties lie. Oscar learns fully in this moment that when push comes to shove, he’s never going to be anyone’s priority.

We see the split in teams again. “I think it would be best if we had some time to ourselves,” Ren says, clearly talking about Team JNR since they’re all going upstairs together. Team RWBY is left in the living room... with Oscar outside of that.

So he leaves.

Which is when the writing shows us its priorities too. Oscar is housing the most important character in this entire war and, like it or not, he’s supposed to be a part of the team now. If there was ever a time to provide him with space to grow and to give the audience insight into who he is outside of Ozpin’s influence, this was it. Ozpin is conveniently quiet. The group has driven him away. We have a two week hiatus implying a major episode when we come back. Anything could happen, from Oscar getting kidnapped and coming into some power, to him working through his issues and deciding why the hell he should stay with a group that doesn’t need him and clearly doesn’t want him. Instead, we get another episode about Jaune and EVERY bit of potential character development for Oscar happens off screen. All we learn is that Oscar went shopping. Oh, and cooked them dinner.

Notice that Oscar is desperate to prove himself useful; to do things in the hope that it will earn him some form of praise and acceptance. Jaune yells about how I’m a liar and not to be trusted? I get thrown around and no one cares enough to check up on me? That’s fine. I’m gonna give them space, not kick up a fuss, make a nice meal for everyone to come home to... Oscar can’t stick up for himself because if doing nice things---helping you get Ozpin’s secrets, trying to cheer everyone up, etc.---results in violence, what the hell would they do if he actually got mad at them? No, no, no, I’ll just keep being calm, perfect Oscar.

Yes, Jaune apologies for his behavior, but notably Oscar interrupts him and tries to justify it. I’m worried about the same things too, so it’s totally okay that you expressed those fears the way you did. I’m the expendable one. 

It gets even worse when Oscar starts speaking as if he has a terminal illness. Once again he’s buying into the idea that he’s no one now, existing only to ferry Ozpin’s soul, and like out in the snow this idea isn’t challenged by anyone. This exchange boils down to, ‘I’m convinced I’m going to cease to exist so I’ll just keep helping you all as much as possible until I’m gone.’ Oscar is making the claim that helping them---being the good outsider who makes them meals and promises not to worry them again, despite the fact that they’re the ones who drove him off in the first place---is all he's good for now. 

And what’s the group’s response to this? 

Along with a whole bunch of smiles. 

Combined with their overall treatment, this reads as horrendously alarming. Why worry too much about how you’re treating Oscar when Oscar is destined to die, merge, whatever? He’s literally theorizing about a scenario where one day the group won’t have to deal with him anymore, but until then he’ll be as helpful as he can. It’s an easy out for them. Yay! We won’t lose the Ozpin vessel who we technically still need, but now he says we don’t have to worry about his trauma anymore. Those pesky things like terror over his identity are being buried and the problem is that no one is inclined to challenge that. A few days after Qrow claims he’s not his own person, Oscar announces, ‘You know what? He’s right. I’m not. So I’ll just be useful until I disappear.’ And everyone is happy with that new plan. No one cares enough about Oscar to push back against this passiveness, to worry about his mental health, even just to express grief that they may one day lose him. There’s so much concern and care shown among the group, from the big (everyone supporting Yang through her PTSD) to the small (Blake finding an extra blanket for Weiss). But twice now we’ve seen Oscar breaking in front of an audience and no one bats an eye. Twice we’ve seen him harmed and no one cares. The rest of the time he’s barely acknowledged at all. Not unless he’s making himself known and that, as we’ve seen, is dangerous.  

I mentioned way at the start that the concept of the group loving Oscar would come back into play. In short, I think you can love someone---or convince yourself you love someone---and still treat them like shit. The group might be “worried sick” when something major happens to Oscar like a disappearance, but on a day-to-day basis they treat him pretty horribly. They care about his physical safety, but not his emotional or mental well being. He’s not truly a part of their teams, he’s constantly conflated with Ozpin, his fears about losing his identity are reinforced multiple times, and there’s now a pattern of the group using him as an emotional and physical outlet when it proves convenient for them. Could they treat him worse than this? Yeah, of course, but they could treat him a whole lot better too. For me, Nora giving a big “OSCAR!” hug or Blake exchanging pleasantries on the farmhouse steps doesn’t mean a thing when, during more significant moments, they don’t stick up for him. Not when he’s being physically assaulted, not when others are emotionally harming him, not when Oscar himself basically announces that he’s accepted a death sentence. The group loves Oscar... but it’s highly conditional. If they love someone else more (like Jaune) or hate someone else enough (like Ozpin) then he’s going to suffer for it. Oscar is not enough of a member of the group for them to ever prioritize and sadly it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon.

Family pets for your ships?

Hehehe, was wondering when this would come up. I don’t have much in terms of this ask. BUT, that doesn’t mean thought went into this!

Jaune and Ruby still have Zwei, but he’s very old now. Ruby did however, adopt five wolves after going out on a mission for about uhhh, 2 months. Later on the wolves grew up alongside my Lancaster kids. The wolves names are Drei, the youngest and has a scar on his left hip, Vier, the second youngest and the laziest of the pack, Funf, the most active and only girl, Sechs, the one who wags his tail the most, and finally Null, the eldest of the pack and is usually seen with a stoic, watchful look on his face.

Weiss and Neptune didn’t think about getting a pet for a while until they caved when Jack and Nik begged and pleaded for one. So, they got a scottish fold kitten! A rescue from a shelter, she’s very small and likes to rub against other people’s legs for attention, and her name is Leonie! She’s also a good therapy animal for Willow whenever she’s alone with the little cat.

Blake and Sun don’t have a pet, they already have to deal with enough animals at home in the form of their four kids. I’m kidding, they have a pond full of koi fish they take care off!

Yang and Whitley share “pet custody” with Zwei and the wolves and Leonie, so they’re fine on that part.

Emerald and Mercury didn’t think of getting a pet, but after (a lot of) pleading from Jade, started small and got her a turtle. She named him Shelly. :3

Roman and Neo wanted a pet first before a kid, so they got a Main Coone (rather stole from a rich couple who were mistreating the poor thing) before they had their daughter. His name is Cooper!

Ironwood and an OC of mine, Taylor, have plans to get a malamute for their son.

Qrow & Winter are in the same boat as Yang & Whitley.

Oscar and Penny took in a wild rabbit for their daughter Clementine after she had rescued it from a baby Ursa. Now he acts as a little therapy pet due to Clementine developing dissociation, his name is Mr. Checkers.

Ren and Nora bought a budgie for their son Jonas and a chinchilla for their daughter Yuki. The budgie’s name is Cheeky and the chinchilla’s name is Ume.

Cinder and Vlad had an owl that lived in the tree outside their house, but he had migrated to a different place and never came back. After Kain and Ash were born, the two kids had stumbled across a den for never before seen Grimm, an Alpha Creep. Cinder & Vlad concluded that they should kill, but after Kain begging and pleading them not to, they relented. Instead, Kain had gone out in secret to feed the Alpha Creep as a means to “tame” him, and...it worked! The Grimm had grown comfortable around Kain and Ash and is basically their pet now! Due to the creatures battle-scarred appearance, Kain had named him Scarr.

I have always imagined that the character of the big bad wolf would be like Garou is in One Punch Man. Someone dissatisfied with the justice system and proclaims himself as a monster (in the case of RWBY this would be replaced by a Grimm or a hunter of hunters). Someone who is the opposite of Ruby's ideals.

Hello again Los. Well to be honest I’m not too familiar with the character of Garou from One Punch Man. I’ve only watched through the first season of One Punch Man and I don’t remember seeing his character in the first season. So if he’s a new character from the second season of the series (or from the manga) then I don’t really know him enough as a character to gage an opinion about him and compare him to Ruby or even Marrow from RWBY.Technically, Marrow is the probably the closest to a Big Bad Wolf character aswe might get in RWBY for the most part (not unless he has a younger brother around Ruby’s age who happens to be bigger than him in size). 

Well I’m not sure if you’ve read my Lil Red Headcanon about Ruby’s Big Bad Boyfriend, both the first part and the second since that pretty much summarizes my idea of what I pictured as a big bad wolf character to oppose Ruby.

I was more drawn to the idea of Ruby meeting a character inspired by the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood to portray a sort of potential love interest character for Ruby for a while. Someone who starts off very antagonistic towards Ruby in until she learns his true nature and genuinely starts to warm up to him for that. The two even start dating out of their mutual interest in one another (providing Ruby Rose her first experience being in a relationship with a romantic interest) however after a while, the Wolf takes notice of Ruby’s close bond with Oscar, pegging it to be more than what it seems and eventually he sort of aids Ruby in realizing her true feelings for Oscar.

That while the little red rose may like the Gentle Giant Wolf, she was truly in love withthe Little Prince and he was the one she was destined to be with—or somethingalong those lines.

That was my concept for the most part.Hence why you might’ve probably seen me tease the thought of shipping Ruby andMarrow as a sort of Big Bad crack ship to conjure a Ruby-inspired love triangle topossibly spark more revelation towards Rosegarden. 

I would’ve had a strongerinclination to leaning towards this consideration if it weren’t for the factthat, thus far, Marrow and Ruby’s interactions have been mostly respectful; if you can call it that since it’s so scarce.  

While they’ve been more or less friendly with one another these part fewepisodes (in spite of Marrow’s good boy ‘tsundere’ attitude towards initiallymeeting the hero team), that’s pretty much been their relationship. Nothing butfriendly and courteous. And since the last episode shined a hard light on howthe Ace Ops approach their working relationships in general, I hardly doubtwe’ll get anything more than that between Ruby and Marrow.

Speaking of; am I the only one who found it more than a little odd how the Aces mentioned that their bond is nothing more than work-related? I get that they’re all soldiers trained in the military and that this is probably part of their culture as part of the job as huntsmen in the military, still I couldn’t help but feel weirded out to hear them say that they are nothing more than colleagues to one another?

They’re not even friends off the battlefield. While this isn’t an issue, I found what the Aces said kind of contradicting with how they acted with one another. It almost felt like I was watching two versions of the Aces.

Like the Aces we met in V7CH2-3 don’t match up to the Aces in V7CH4 and it felt like the sharp turn of a switch. If the Aces were all hardboiled soldiers trained and that was the attitude they adopted mostly from since their first interaction with our heroes, I’d understand. However…I didn’t really get that vibe?

I dunno the attitude of Aces in CH4 came like such a hard slap in the face which I guess fit whatever reaction the Writers were going for since JNR_RWBY’s reaction mimicked my own.

I guess…R.I.P my Bunny Bites and Elm and Vine Ace Ops pairings. Then again, nothing wrong in still liking both ships as ships. I dunno, I still wanna believe that Harriet and Marrow might secretly have a thing for one another or at least I wanna believe that Harriet secretly thinks Marrow is kind of cute; fora rookie. I know she’s the one that basically told the team about the Acesreally see their relationship; still…it’s worth it even as a headcanon for oneof my favourite Ace Ops ships.

Beyond that, I’m especially still holding out for Elm and Vine too. That ship, I’m praying is canon. I still call bullshit on what Harriet told JNR_RWBY about ‘nevermixing business with personal’ and that the Aces aren’t ‘that cordial off the battlefield’. Lies. I’ll bet money if Elm and Vine are involved romantically off field but their relationship is a secret to their colleagues. I even wish to toss in thetheory of Elm and Vine wanting to get married but are nervous about how theirmarriage might affect their work dynamic and the one they’ve built with theirgroup since, as Harriet said—they’re NOT supposed to mix the two.

I know Elm chimed with Harriet when she reacted, almost disgustedly to Ruby implying that her teammates are her ‘friends’.However, Elm was also suspiciously in the same frame as Ren and Nora who are on a team, and they’re also a couple. Supposedly? She….also did this sort of…fake smile that made me go “I dunno. I don’t think Elm 100% buys into what Harriet is saying.”  

Like I said, lies. That’s my theory.

Harriet might abide by that way of thinking but…I don’t believe that all of the Aces think this way. I’m definitely vouching for the theory that Elm and Vine are secretly in a relationship; with the talk of marriage being on the table; but are skeptical about going forward with it given their job and duty to it with their team. That’s my headcanon.

But I dunno, this is just what I’m thinking. I’m sorry but this squiggle meister is still calling BS on:

“Perfect complementary teamwork. I want to have my friends’ backs just like that.”

“Friends?”

“This isn’t the school yard, kid.”

“But I mean…when you go through so much with someone, it kind of changes things, doesn’t it?”

“We get along well enough, sure. I count on them to keep me alive. They do the same. But that’s the job. We don’t confuse the two.”

To quote, Invader Zim, YOU’RE LYING! I also wished that this line from the Aces came before CH4. It would’ve probably helped make sense of Ren’s weird attitude towards Nora in CH3. 

Hearing what Harriet said about “never mixing business with pleasure” could’ve been a nice rationale to justify him not reciprocating Nora’s complement. Because in CH3, he was seen acting all aloof with Nora but in CH4, here we have him acting like normally does with Nora as he comically scoops her up and carries her away like cardboard cutout in easily one of the jokiest moments from the episodes. It definitely got a giggle of me.  

I dunno. I could be wrong but I guess we’ll see how things will go as episodes move forward.

Rwby AU- Theatre kids

Literally everyone is a theatre kid. Also, no semblances. This is also a Normal AU.

 Everyone (excluding Qrow,Ironwood, Salem,Ozma,Goodwitch,Oobleck,Port,Raven,Maria,Tae Yang) is about 15 years old, excluding Winter who is 17 and Rwby and Oscar who are both 14. Some of the non-15 year old people will be theatre teachers/directors/managers/etc. So far I only have Qrow,Goodwitch,Ironwood,Salem,Raven,and Ozma sorted out. 

 Qrow is the dance teacher, and he is the most graceful being on earth. That battle between Qrow and Winter? That was a dance battle. 

 Raven and Ironwood are the Co-fight Choreographers. Ironwood choreographs hand to hand combat scenes and fighting effects(someone hitting a person to the ground, fake punching and kicking, reactions), whilst Raven choreographs weapon based fights and some combat moves(dramatic flips.....idk). 

 Goodwitch is the singing teacher, choir teacher, vocal instructor, and conductor. Why? Because of how she waves her wand thingy in the show. S

alem and Ozma, happily married in this AU, are co-directors. They’ve adopted Cinder and Oscar.

 Edit- Tae Yang has been added. He’s the “cool” and lovable theater dad. He helps backstage, gives emotional support, and makes sure everyone has enough water and snacks. 

 Now on to the kiddos.

 They’ve all known eachother for the longest time, having been in various theatre,choir, and dance programs through the years. Now they’re in Highschool and basically running theatre. 

 Our top dancers are- Sun, Mercury, Tyrian, Ren, Neo, Winter, Scarlett, and Ruby(Qrow taught her everything she knows). 

Our top singers are- Weiss, Jaune(I’m sorry), Oscar, and Neptune. 

 Our top actors are- Pyrrha, Blake, Emerald, Cinder, and Roman. 

 Our tech/crew kids are- Penny, Watts Yang, Hazel, Saige, and Nora. R

andomly on field trips, the bus rides to/from school, and while to/from school in groups the theatre kids just break out in song. Someone screams out a song to sing and everyone just starts harmonizing. (I’m tired, but I will eventually list ringleaders for this specific thing + fav songs) 

During lunch, free hours, after school ends, they put on an entire choreographed fight scene for everyone. Phyraa and Mercury are the stars for one on one fights and Tyrian and RNJR are the stars for multiple fights. 

Tyrian,Roman, and Neptune are the most dramatic kids. They live to be as extra as possible. Tyrian especially so. 

 Mercury,Emerald, and Hazel are adopted siblings in this AU, Hazel’s parents adopted Mercury and Em. 

 When the group found out about Adam and how he treated Blake, they choreographed/planned the most extra break up and shun performance. Performed it right in front of the whole school. Needless to say Adam can no longer show his face in public. 

 Watts and Penny constantly hack the school intercom system both to announce the most random stuff and promote upcoming shows. 

 Whenever people in the group become a couple(Pyrrha and Jaune, Ren and Nora, etc) they either harmonize a love song from a musical or hum “here comes the bride”.

 The crew kids are constantly arguing about who can lift the most. Nora has literally called over Ren so she can bench press him to prove herself. 

 When they’re bored, they just go to the stage and start reciting things. Doesn’t even have to be theater related. Snnn, Jaune, Ruby, and Yang are particularly fond of dramatically reciting memes. Jaune and Neptune have done “All women are queens” meme an unhealthy amount of times.

RWBY Sedoretu AU

(if you don’t know what a sedoretu au is, read about it here.)

taiyang was the only morning on a team full of evenings. he fell for all three of them. this seems like a problem, except, conveniently, raven and qrow are siblings! so if tai, summer, and qrow get married with a nice morning moiety girl, then they can add raven in as an aunt, and boom, everything is solved.

either they never find a morning moiety girl, or she runs off with raven, or she dies in combat, or something, idk. i don’t have a canon character to put in that spot. the point is, we’ve got tai and qrow as the only ones left from their sedoretu, with two evening daughters. (technically, i think ki’o society would consider them cousins? even though they still have the same dad? idfk. they’re raised as sisters.)

so we’ve got ruby and yang, two evening girls, paired up with weiss and blake, two morning girls. (blake and yang bond over everyone assuming that they’re the opposite moiety of what they actually are - what do you mean the golden sunny little dragon is evening and the shadowy black cat ninja is morning???) everyone’s like, oh yeah, team rwby’s totally gonna be a sedoretu, i mean, look at them. ruby and weiss are gay for each other, blake and yang are gay for each other, yang and weiss are gay for each other - and maybe ruby and blake aren’t there yet but they’ll get there. this is like, almost a foregone conclusion.

except ruby kinda likes this girl penny, which first gets her started on maybe not wanting this sort of pre-made sedoretu set out for her? and while she’s pretty sure she does like weiss, she just doesn’t have that romantic of feelings for blake. but she figures she might, in time. and after all, except for the ladybug thing, they make a great sedoretu, just like they make a great team!

team jnpr is pretty much a textbook sedoretu. jaune and nora are morning, pyrrha and ren are evening. ren and nora have been looking for a couple like them for ages, and boom, they get paired up with these two dorks at beacon. it was perfect.

and then the fall of beacon happened.

penny and pyrrha are dead. ruby goes off with team rnjr, and things are weird because she’s an evening girl just like pyrrha who they just lost, and it’s like, they couldn’t have found a more serendipitous fit to complete their sedoretu but it’s just too soon after pyrrha’s death and everything is a mess. besides, ruby’s gonna be in team rwby’s sedoretu, right?

and then we get to volume 6. and now with ilia (another evening girl) along for the ride, things start getting really weird, because blake might be starting to return her feelings? and weiss and ilia, though they initially hate each other, might actually like each other a lot?

so then we get a beautiful conversation where ilia goes up to ruby and she’s like, “look, i kind of have a thing for the two morning girls in your sedoretu,” and ruby’s like, “oh thank god this is perfect,” and ilia is like, “this is not how i expected this conversation to go.”

so basically what i’m saying is two sedoretus:

bumblebee/freezerburn/prismatic ponytails/calico (bees schnees + ilia)

renora/martial arcs/lancaster/sugar rush (team rnjr)

who are tied together by the sisters. white rose may or may not be a thing - i can’t figure out what all the rules are re: aunts but hey let’s be real with these 8 no one’s gonna judge them

bonus:

even though oscar isn’t that much younger than ruby, team rnjr more or less adopts him as their son. he gets a pretty badass aunt, and her sedoretu is protective of him as well, so he suddenly gets like 8 new parents who are at max like 4 years older than him. ozpin is so amused by this.

seamonkeys are still trying to find two girls to join them, oblivious to the obvious solution of just being a gay sedoretu with sage and scarlet

qrow and tai’s subplot of trying to find a couple willing to marry them. qrow keeps flirting with winter (who has to be morning because weiss is) but she’s dating glynda, who’s dating ironwood. those three want qrow to be their fourth, but he’s still got tai, so what’s a poor bird to do?
