What's your opinion on Dadmare aus?

I don’t think much about Dadmare aus, or not very often. I don’t have anything against them and whenever I come across content i usually think it’s cute and like the post before moving on, but i don’t seek it out and hardly engage in it.

This is mostly because i haven’t found an interpretation of dadmare aus ive been able to get invested in, most interpretations ive come across just aren’t for me.

My biggest “issues” (but not really) with most interpretations is that nightmare is almost always portrayed as a perfect dad who can do no wrong, all the other sanses are infantilized to hell and back, and as @/signanothername said in their own post, none of the characters feel like their own people.

Their relationships to eachother and Nightmare all feel very one note and cut from the same mold most of the time. All the same reactions, all completely trust Nightmare and kiss the ground he walks on.

I don’t mind found family, but I don’t like it when the found family is shoved into little boxes and cannot differ from them.

Nightmare is 500+ years old, did not grow up with any significant parent figure in his life despite winging it on taking care of Dream, and spent his 6 early years of life being routinely abused by all the adults around him. And then he was horribly transformed and corrupted.

Why would he take on a parental role again when the last time he tried something like that he was also a child, he had no other choice, and everything went to shit despite it? Wouldn’t he also struggle like any actual parent would.

If he spent 500+ years isolated and only interacting with others when forced to, or needing something from them like negativity, wouldn’t that life experience translate into trying to care for this group of traumatized men.

And they are men. They aren’t boys. They’re adults. Unless they’re supposed to be actual children when they meet Nightmare, or one or all of them are age regressed, then I don’t see the point in infantilizing them or treating them as if they’re children. None of these guys are looking for a father figure.

Adults can be found family, there doesn’t need to be any dad or child or siblings boxes to me.

Especially not when Horror already has a brother, Killer’s concept of family dynamics is also very likey screwed to hell and back (just look at what he thinks about any relationship, there’s no such thing as “equals” in his eyes, killer in dadmare dynamics would probably just view it as another role and game he has to play and “dadmare” is his new Chara), Nightmare killed his mother and his currently trying to kill his brother after trapping him in stone for years.

Dust killed his brother and is constantly haunted by his hallucination, Cross destroyed his entire AU and also came from an entirely different AU with a completely different life from the others. (Alphys being his sister, for example. Horror having lobotomized his Alphys and Killer having likely killed and tortured his many times and Dust having murdered his.)

So tldr: I don’t mind dadmare, but it personally isn’t for me. I like found family bad sanses, but not if there’s roles assigned and not if it’s not earned.

I don’t like Nightmare being the perfect father somehow and the sanses being treated like children even though they’re 30-40+ adults and aren’t looking for a father figure.

I prefer dysfunctional found family dynamics with the bad sanses.

Also that some people aren’t likely to be overly emotionally involved or invested in these dynamics for a very long time if at all, even if he plays along as if its all a game or some elaborate test being played on him— either because he thinks he has to, or because it’s something new and he’s curious. He may even get bored of the dynamics eventually, and start asking Nightmare when it’s game over.

Which could lead to something very interesting if he realizes it was never supposed to be a game or a test.

Hell, even hazbin fortelling happened

Almost a year ago I believed the writing of HB may be leading us to some nuisance? That some of the holes and convenience that began to pop up, technically at the end of season one, had been intentional. The parent series HH was on it's way in the next few weeks, so surely it will expand on all we know, teaching us more and the two shows will complement eachother.

I admit I was wrong.

The Mammon episode was the last before Hazbin Hotel started and wow did it let us know of what was to come.

Dropping insight into the future was common in season one but died off this time around, only this episode created a standard for both series to abide by when we got Mammon as an irredeemable, all encompassing God like villain like no other, boo hiss at this guy because the characters we like are selectively morally just dispite vocation and if they are attracted royalty then the power imbalance frequently referenced doesn't exist

yet this big bad we got is almost Beetlejuice and Oogie merged together complete with their undeniable competence, this characters home and place of operation is actual hell and we are good as told that this character is the worst of the worst for being a bother to some side characters over business?

Why did I highly these points you may ask? So that we remember

where this is set?

who is a threat or at the very least in the way of the characters we follow and why?

most importantly, what do our main characters do? Why are we following them? What's their motive? What does the series description say?

This episode absolutely butcher likable meanies Fizz and Ozzie, who played out like OOC (or who even knows these days) Stolas x Blitzø in a fanfiction, with their content creating more questions than answers.

This episode featured Blitzø for no other reason but there otherwise would be no lead characters. It created the chance for him to reflect on his own obnoxious, helluva bad boss behaviour, to not only make him relevant in this episode but show us his growth in future episodes, but no, we go on to see IMP at work less than ever and fewer interactions with no real proof of a better dynamic, Blitzø has become more subdued, but this change can only be accredited to his desperation to impress/cheer up Stolas.

Hazbin starts with a storybook that places Lucifer, Lilith and Charlie at the top. We already knew they would be but what did we get.

We meet Adam in the first episode, he meets Charlie in the first episode, he's no threat to her but he's the big bad. Episodes pass and nobody has any particular power or understanding, Charlie's goal is pointless, we learn about what Lucifer thinks and allows but none of it is ever bought up (even though this could have offered solid reasoning behind the well used horrible partent subplot) he's uwu soft life like his daughter and that's all that matters.

An In-Depth Analysis of Sonilver in Sonic 06 (with some other media sprinkled in)

Sonilver is a pairing very near and dear to my heart, but exclusively when it comes to their “rival era” of sorts. (Aka earlier iterations of Silver, primarily Sonic 06)

I believe that they shine best when they have their own goals and either 1: clash heads or 2: team up, depending on if their goals align or not. But we’ll get to that in more detail later. Let’s get to it, shall we?

There’s a real irony to their dynamic in this game that I’ve never seen discussed online before. As we all know, Sonic is pretty much the main force or “bringer” of justice in the Sonic universe. I’ll go into more detail about Sonic himself at a later date, but regardless the universe would probably be utterly fucked without the blue blur.

Silver has no prior knowledge of Sonic’s achievements or ideals because he’s from 200 years in the future, and Sonic would be long-gone at that point. (In any canonical sense at least) All he knows about the guy is what Mephiles has told him, that he’s the Iblis Trigger who must be killed to restore peace to his future. Silver then convinces himself it’s okay to kill Sonic because it will bring the justice that his future deserves, even if he has to kill a man (hedgehog) to do it. Ironic, huh? Silver must kill the blinding blue light of justice himself to get the justice he wants for his future.

Even as he meets Sonic in person and gets glimpses of his true nature, (through his own confrontations with Sonic and his allies that defend him) he doubles down and gets more aggressive, believing he MUST be right.

I believe Silver’s sense of pride and stubbornness tends to get overlooked and people instead cling onto the term Naive like a lifeboat, but that’s for another time.

When Silver learns the true story of Mephile’s deceit and Sonic’s nature, that pride and stubbornness prevents him from a proper apology, and he instead pulls the “Circumstances have changed” card. (I love that aspect of his character by the way)

Sonic isn’t the kind of guy to hold grudges, so he quickly forgives him and they become allies. Despite my love for their rivalry, I think this shift to allies works well in 06. Their mutual respect and Silver taking the initiative to carry on when Sonic “dies” is really heartwarming and contrasts well with their earlier interactions. Now, since this is Sonic 06, none of this actually happened technically, and they forget about they had ever met. The angst is real and I love it!

Maybe I’ll go more in depth with the Sonic Rivals series at a later date but I’ll give the basics to further my point. Sonic rivals continues their rivalry (hence the name) and has them meet again having no prior knowledge of eachother. The two butt heads as they both try to find Eggman Nega individually, but they eventually set aside their differences and work together when it suits the situation best.

The same thing happens in Sonic Rivals 2 despite their prior team up and their rivalry becomes more competitive than antagonistic. I think this shift between rival or allies depending on the situation is the pinnacle of Sonilver (as is any other pairing in Sonadilver). It highlights their individual ideals and goals while also showing their similarities and sheer ability to thrive as a team.

Unfortunately as the years have gone by their rivalry has been watered down to a more palatable allyship with some occasionally teasing. This is mostly due to IDW, but I’ll be here for hours if I discuss all my gripes with that comic series.

Instead, I’ll just say that while I find the teasing endearing, I missed their initial resolve to solve things on their own before working together when they must. I just feel like there’s a lot more flavor and intrigue to that angle that compliments both of their characters better. Regardless, there’s nothing I can do about that. I’ll just continue to wish for my Sonilver beef on a silver platter without an expectation of change.

Now you may be asking, okay we get it. They have a cool dynamic, but how do you think a romance between the two would play out? You see, the funny thing is that I don’t want them to become romantic. Sure they might have some hidden not so platonic feelings that they will continue to suppress for eternity (I’m more a queerplatonic shipper myself) , but to try to force them into the standard romantic relationship would absolutely destroy what makes their dynamic so interesting in the first place.

Of course, if you do enjoy romantic Sonilver all the power to ya’, (Sonic and Silver characterizations are so consistent from game to game anyways that it’s nearly impossible to be wrong.) but I personally just don’t see the appeal of putting them in that sort of relationship considering the dynamic I enjoy best.

So! Favorite dynamic for the bros huh?

I think like overall how much they absolutely care for eachother is the best part for me. Dream Team, the first game I had for the series really did show how much Luigi cared for Mario, and in turn, Mario for Luigi. They’re truly inseparable and honestly I die for a good wholesome sibling dynamic. Makes me tear up and all that. I love their hugs n how they bicker! And how they always team up together for literally everything! They’re such a happy family and it’s so good. I would simply die for the bros, that is all.

As for my ocs and whatnot, none of the ocs have directly interacted with M&L! Almost all of my Mario OCs stay exclusively in the Beanbean kingdom, and interact with eachother, and other canon characters from that kingdom. They are aware of Mario and Luigi’s existence, but the story’s timeline takes place while they’re off on other adventures, so there’s no reason for them to come and meet the bros.

In the current draft of all my stuff, it’s a whole three part/three arc huge drama and all that stuff, highs and lows, and overall just like…

Hi!!! I am so excited to talk about this!!!!!!!!! I'm going to follow suit and do coordinating bullet points!!

• Gi-hun and the Front Man. OH MY GOD. Toxic and doomed. I'm obsessed with the dynamic. The Front Man is so unhinged. Him straight up killing that guy with his bare hands to save Jung-bae during the carousel game just to murder him in front of Gi-hun was crazy!!! I actually gasped. I wasn't expecting Jung-bae to make it through the show, but it was still a bit chilling for him to die in the way he did. The Front Man slipped back into his role so easily. The dude is frightening. That being said, I am so eager to see more of his interactions with Gi-hun in season 3! I totally agree that they are making each other worse, but I am living for that toxicity.

I need to know what's going to happen if/when the Front Man reveals his identity. I'm really dying to see more from the Front Man. Also Gi-hun is very single-mindedly focused, and I'm curious to see if it will ultimately be to his detriment. I hadn't expected him to coordinate the seize/attack in that manner, and I truly don't know how to predict where things will go from here. The Front Man definitely has an interest/investment in Gi-hun, but I can't determine if/how that will work to his advantage.

• Hyun-ju!!!!!!! QUEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!! She is everything!!! The way she stepped up and took charge when the contestants agreed to fight back against the people running the game was so bad***. Her interactions with Young-mi were precious, and Young-mi's death broke my heart!! Also the change in relationship between Hyun-ju and Geum-ja was sweet. Geum-ja went from not understanding to taking care of her. Her reaffirming Hyun-ju's womanhood and inviting her into the bathroom and her stopping Hyun-ju from picking up the guns again at the end were both very sweet, maternally protective moments.

Hyun-ju is so damn cool and impressive. I am rooting for her survival. (Sae-byeok's death hurt so much!! I can't handle this again!!) I'm going to be so upset if she dies. I really really hope she makes it through. If not, you and I can both riot together.

• I hated the shaman!! She's so annoying!! I was lowkey hoping she would die, because I was tired of everyone having to deal with her 😭. I watched the show with my parents and brother, and none of us liked her at all.

• I felt so bad for the guy who kept missing the stone!! That game had me so stressed! Like with Red Light, Green Light, I wasn't overly stressed for the most part since I had a basis for what to expect. That obviously went out the window for the other games!

I had to look up the Saw 8 shotgun carousel. (I know, I'm sorry, but I haven't seen any of the Saw movies.) That was an intense watch! I can kind of get why you felt similar vibes with it. Since everyone in the group had a game to play, their inaction could lead to multiple deaths. Also there's a similarity in being stuck in a game even after seeing others in your situation die.

• Literally!! Gi-hun. Listen to me, man. Do not allow your attachment to 001 and your perceived knowledge of his death blind you. Do not allow this to deter you from your mission of ending these games. The Front Man can't be trusted. Even if the gay trauma bonding has been intense, the dude is the Big Bad you're looking for. I am already on the edge of my seat for season three.

As far as what I think the next games will be, I have no clue. I honestly haven't put any thought into it. I hadn't even taken a second to consider it until reading this ask yesterday night. I think I need to look back on the hints we've been given, and I'll have to really put thought to it. That being said, I definitely couldn't have predicted the games we saw in season two, so I don't feel very confident making predictions about it.

Additional thoughts:

• My heart was breaking for Dae-ho in the last episode. He had tried to be so helpful to everyone throughout the season, and then he was clearly unprepared and overwhelmed for the armed conflict. I was so stressed watching his breakdown/PTSD flashback. I've seen people online very harshly criticize his character for not delivering the ammo, but I am sympathetic to the context of his inability to complete the task. Also he very clearly respected and cared for Jung-bae, and I'm already sad thinking about how it will go over when Dae-ho learns of his death.

• Min-su pissed me off. Se-mi was so kind to him, and he totally betrayed her. I know he fought back when she was attacked, but he did not treat her with the same care or respect that she showed him.

• I'm extremely nervous for Jun-hee. I really hope she's able to make it out. Her plotline is really tragic. Like her deadbeat baby daddy scammed her and then let her believe he was dead!!!!! For her sake, I hope he makes it out too, because by the end when she stopped him from joining the fight it's clear she wants him safe. But like bruh. He better step up and help her out.

Some random things:

• Idk if you watched it dubbed or subbed, but I watched it dubbed. (Subtitles aren't accessible for everyone in my family.) I had no clue until yesterday when my dad mentioned it that Thanos was sometimes speaking in English! I found a compilation on Twitter, but I had no clue while watching! Also like we thought it was odd for him to say "señorita" a couple times, but it makes sense now knowing he was literally just randomly using other languages. Also it's kind of funny that most of the times when he spoke in English, he was cussing.

• All of that being said, he was annoying lol. I kept calling him and Nam-gyu "the drug guy and the other drug guy". I typically used everyone's name, but they pissed me off so they got nicknames lol.

• My brother and I also kept calling the Salesman "the insane guy" which I feel like is self explanatory lol. He was so unhinged, and I could not look away.

Final thoughts to round this out!! I feel like there's things I'm forgetting to say, so I will send you an ask if I remember anything else. I think I have more feelings than actual coherent thoughts about it all, so I tried my best to articulate my opinions instead of just screaming here lol. I'm also like really considering rewatching season one. I didn't do so before starting season two, and I definitely felt out of the loop during the first episode. Plus, it's just so good. Idk when I'll have time to rewatch it, but I definitely want to do so before season three comes out.

- I'm 100% a Bug Brian truther, that man is an insect you can't convince me otherwise, I like to think he can make weird little chittering noises and climbs up walls with his hands and feet for enrichment

- This man needs glasses so fucking badly but after a litany of "nerd" comments growing up he refuses to wear them, has attempted contacts but cant get them in his eyes for the life of him

- He would genuinely rather die than go to the factory, he does all his needed repairs on himself unless he's forced to (usually by Ben or William)

- He gets along with his co workers in, his own way when he's forced to interact with them. He does not understand how to behave "appropriately" around other people, he's my favorite rude autism icon (he is going to insult your intelligence at any given opportunity with what he sees as good intentions and does not understand why everyone hates him)

- I'm also a Bellthinker truther I think that british man should kiss that bug right on the brain dome and make him so flustered his systems soft reset

- Every time theres a meeting that he's in the second he's at the front of the room the entire mood changes because everybody knows he's gonna have a whole presentation planned thats no less than 1 hour long, and he will yell at you if you try to stand up for any reason

- I like to think living in the heart of toontown (right in the playground no less) definitely has some side effects on him, the silliness is rubbing off on him more than he realizes, most obviously things like his brain exploding comically when he starts baby raging

- Im sorry this man is absolutely a cog reddit user (coggit? idk) you can't change my mind, hes a power mod and proud of it, keeps getting talked to for using it on company time though

- He's very attatched to the Desk Jockeys but absolutely hates to admit it, I like to think its a Dr. Robotnik with Scratch and Grounder type dynamic (thinking especially like that one scene where Robotnik says "I don't even know why I bother to repair you guys, I suppose I'm too sentimental" shit like that)

- With his dynamics with the other toontown central managers, I think he actually feels very guilty about the incident that happened with Buck- but instead feigns a petty hatred for him so nobody will ask him about it and he doesn't have to admit how monumentally he fucked up

- He's on relatively chill terms with William, they're both angry big mouthed autistic people who do not know how to shut up so they mesh pretty well, I think they like to fight eachother to let off steam and then makeup immediately after, Brian isn't too fond of the whole oil leakage problem thing though because it makes a mess of his basement but he doesn't exactly hold it against him since he knows he can't help it

- When he can spare the time he loves poking around in the systems of his co workers just to see how they operate out of morbid curiosity and to see how he can make the jockeys more efficient, he's on that medic tf2 shit, not many of them let him do it though (understandably so)

- Probably went to whatever the cog equivalent of medical school was but lost his medical license after The Buck Incident™️

Whats wrong with predator 2018?

it’s been like 10 days i’m tired but i CANNOT stay silent anymore The world deserves to know. you will not believe how awful this movie is

1. the moment the movie starts you just understand that it…is not going to be good. it was made in 2018 so of course it has that edgy self aware marvel humor of Uhmm he’s right behind me isn’t he ? (and then you check shane black’s other works and he directed iron man 3 and everything suddenly make sense) LIKE IM SERIOUS there’s just a scene in the first 10 minutes where this Woman In Stem character goes Lol why did we name this thing The Predator? it’s more like a Hunter or a Huntsman it’s more like a Bass Fisherman LIKE WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? WHAT AM I HEARING RN? it’s so fucking stupid and i hate this type of humor so much like CAN U BELIEVE WE’RE IN A MOVIE? ABOUT THE PREDATOR (DUMBASS NAME (LOL))????

2. i mention the Woman In Stem character specifically because she is. also not good. i’m not going to act like the predator movies have always been the best with female characters (even 1987 has its issues) but at least they were actually BEARABLE. The girl character in this movie is just like. this annoying 2010s smartass quirky girl archetype that we put in our movie because you wanted Women(tm) right? there she is we even made her quirky!!! we’re not going to give her a single likable quality though. we’re going to write her Bad . is this what u wanted ?

3. which is not trying to imply that the other characters are written Good . they’re all written Bad they all fucking suck. none of them have any charm or likable qualities and there’s nothing to get invested in. AND THEY DON’T HAVE ANY FUCKING DYNAMICS BETWEEN EACHOTHER!!!! it’s like they just exist in the same space and that’s It . they don’t get any interesting relationships or interactions . they’re all just so nothing

4. like halfway through the movie it just turns into unapologetic US army propaganda—which is fucking ironic if you know what the original predator was made for (commentary about american terrorism in central america in the 80s under reagan)—the main character’s wife just starts suddenly going off about how he’s so cool and doing so much for his country and he’s in the army waowww wowww We need to shoot everyone who’s worked on this movie and im serious.

5. i…..do not know who this movie was made for. like who is it supposed to cater to? one of its main things is autism and mental illness and yet it has the shittiest portrayal of both. But especially autism. like what if we made a movie about how autism is the next step in human evolution (?!) and autistic people are like superheroes basically (?!?!!!?) and the entire plot hinges on the fact that The Predator wants to become autistic by stealing the autistic character’s autism dna (?!?!?!?!?!?!?? WHAT? WHY ARE THERE EUGENICS IN MY PREDATOR MOVIE? IS ANYONE ELSE SEEING THIS?) (and then the autistic character in question like. actually has unironic superpowers. look he gets overwhelmed by sounds but he can instantly understand and translate predator’s alien language!!!!!!!!) And then the next minute one of the characters says Lol isn’t it crazy how we can’t say the r slur anymore? Fucked up world. LIKE SERIOUSLY WHO IS THIS MOVIE FOR? When i say that they should make a predator movie where every scene has the predator in it YOU SHOULDNT FUCKING LISTEN TO ME IM JUST AUTISTIC. a predator movie is a THRILLER The Fucking Predator himself should appear like. a few times at least until the climax. but nooo this 2018 ass movie just has the predator running around in every scene (btw this predator moves really fucking weird in a human way. Like they usually at least make him move semi alien-like and uncannily, but this movie didnt even bother with that) (also their design is uglier than the original) (also it suffers from the same problem as the 2010 movie by adding a Bigger Cooler Buffer Awesomer Deadlier New Predator LIKE WHO ASKED FOR THIS. WAS MY OG WIFE NOT ENOUGH FOR U) Anyway yeah if you didnt get it yet: this movie doesnt understand what impact or subtlety is. at all

7. the worst thing is with the finale. you see every predator sequel loves to reference the original 1987 movie because well, it’s iconic! it has a lot of meaningful moments and lines! Specifically in the ending of the original movie, where the main character asks the predator “what the hell are you?” and the predator echoes it back at him. YAY not much atm beyond just Vibes but here’s just a list of things from off the top of my head:

-my thought is that perhaps they’d all live in a different plane of existence like disc does in canon (might just steal Skyros from g5 but instead of alicorns it’s the gods n all that lol)

-none of them are inherently evil nor good. All start neutral but choose paths later— discord going too far with his chaos but not outright malicious, concord being about peace and order and all but gets that through harmful means/punishing (hence the ties to canon show lore w the wind spirits appearing when there is disharmony), esse is the most traditionally god-like so would be very quiet/Not All There in a way?, cosmos is the balance with it of creation and destruction BUT note. Not death. Just like esse is creation but not Life if that makes any sense at all lmao?? SK honestly is just an asshole LOL no real deeper reasons beyond that tbh that and having a huge ego, serenity (aka allura but I renamed ofc)(was gonna call her aroura to get the same name sound but aroura are at night so that didn’t exactly work w her theme and cyclone and serenity has a good ring) I’ve not thought as hard on but will be one of the in quotes good ones but probably would be kinda bossy/not perfect/almost goth maybe lol? -i hc the gods have a rule of not messing w eachothers business, hence the answer to the age old “why was discord not in the movie/why didn’t he help” question has an answer here lol

-I like the fact Storm is white/cloud colored but Serenity is grey/storm cloud colored teehees I’ll definitely have fun making final colors for her (and maybe a updated SK ref just bc I’ve drawn him a bit more/got his stylization down since the first doodle)

-I like con is Oder but is the only one to break the rule of the gods all having wings bc he runs off Chinese dragon rules to contrast discord traditional dragon rules :3

-initially my doodle of esse was gonna be the one with bug wings but I preferred the look of feathered ones so to not waist the idea I swapped it over to allura bc I think the sectioned colors will look really nice that way, and makes the clear sky idea fitting seeing as bugs are only out when it’s sunny/not raining/butterflies flying around gives the visual of peace

-even though they come from skyros I don’t think they all live there but they travel back and fourth to do their jobs (sk would only leave to cause storms, con leaves for snowstorms (usually stays around crystal empire tho), etc you get the idea they’re not always there it’s just when they are from, esse methinks would be only one to really Stay there and not leave

It's pretty interesting just how many ship combos in Rain Code can be considered valid, given that none of the character's ages are really specified and all most everyone gets one interaction with eachother. I've seen art and fanfic of nearly every possibly pairing now except for one that I do actually ship (to a small extent lol-)

Ok now hear me out!

It would only result in an absolutely hilarious dynamic where Seth the ultimate boy failure is constantly trying to establish dominance/superiority over Halara and they're just not taking any of that crap. By the end of the first date, Seth's 200,000 shien in debt and Halara ain't even walking him home. They keep getting in to competitions and challenging eachother trying to prove who's smarter and in the typical enemies to friends to maybe more fashion, it evolves from intense games of chess or poker with extreme stakes at play to them just chilling and playing snakes and ladder or sumn equally silly lmfao

I can't quite remember when I thought of this idea? I think it was midway through playing chapter 1 like... forever ago- when Halara was just absolutely decimating Seth's nail man investigation while Yuma was putting in all the real work and Yakou was being the world's dilfiest scapegoat. Idk I just think Seth needs to be beaten up and thrown in a ditch but like... affectionately... and who better to do said ass kicking then the resident ass kicker?

Alice x Collin - 9/10 Collin can pine for Alice, I will die before Alice pines for Collin Alice is way out of his league Collins the type of guy to act like season 2 Jon but then also get haunted by worms, the circus, the stranger, and the lonely while Alice scrolls on pinterest to alt Alice x Gwen - 50/10 Bouchard has a SUCH a chance compared to Collin but I will never let Alice pine so she's gonna have to do the leg work. Which I think she'll be fine with because rich noble people Honestly, Alice knows more than she lets on and Bouchard is hungering for knowledge. Ones uptight and the others chill. They can help eachother out and it'd be cute. I think this could be toxic on both sides Collin x Gwen - 3/10 None of them are pining I can only see them having a marriage of convenience (Taxes, Family pressure, money, etc), and then interacting once a week because they work in the same building. I can imagine Bouchard shooting Collin for some reason. Unsure if youve done this but would you mind going in depth about Courtzzy’s dynamic? I love them personally and am curious what other people think

Well, i've made and reblogged a couple posts before talking about or vaguely around their dynamic before, but the thing i especially like about the courtzzy dynamic is that, well, it can go alot of different ways!

Mostly because Izzy is a very flexible character in general, Courtney is written pretty differently throughout the seasons and they have like 3 total interactions in the series (dramarama excluded) and none are them directly speaking to eachother, one of them is from TDDDDI and the rest are in episode 2 of World Tour. The most we get is Courtney asking Izzy to lead the camel for the Amazons and Izzy about to actually do it before Noah interrupts her, since they switched teams and all. So really, you can interpret them however you want to.

My own take on it really differs from context to context, and i am pretty aware of how far from canon i can get in my interpretations sometimes, but i generally stick with the whole 'opposites attract' schtic while highlighting their few common traits; to me, Courtney is Order, the rule following, opinionated and consistent structured around a core of chaos and passion and emotion, while Izzy is the Chaos, the radical, march to her own drum and fluid covering a logic that's only truly known by her and her closest friends. Those traits contrast in really interesting ways and i find them both just... Interesting to see interact in general? Especially since it's less that Izzy doesn't respect any rules and more that she sort of ignores them. She doesn't go out of her way to break them, she just probably will end up breaking a couple to have fun.

They seem like they'd come to a similar conclusion about a problem but came to that conclusion by completely opposite ways of thinking. They're both adrenaline junkies and only one is in denial about it. They are both sooo neurodivergent it's crazy (like seriously that's such an important part of their dynamic to me?? Neither of them are really normal and should be free to be themselves and from the way i see it they're both trying to mask with Courtney trying to fit in and Izzy exaggerating her 'craziness' to truly unhinged levels so people leave her alone. They deserve to unmask together and be genuine with eachother <3)

One thing that tf2 really manages to do well is give literally all the characters interesting dynamics with eachother through often so little

Like other fandoms I've been in theres always some characters that I could never imagine doing more than just kinda looking at eachother awkwardly, but I don't get that with tf2! Every character has such a big personality that if you put a few of them in a room SOMETHING interesting is going to happen! The same applies to ships in my mind, at least within the mercs and zhanna there's only one obvious one (lol) that I can't see the appeal and wonder what a romantic relationship between them would be like, and I'm not usually big into shipping so it's fucking wild that tf2 of all things is the one to make me interested in it

TBH YEAH!!! Like that's why I can post abt things like Zhanna x Demo or Zhanna x Sniper or Admin x Sniper or whatever else between characters who literally never interact at all. Each character has such a strong personality, pretty much independent of how they interact with other characters, that you know Exactly what they're all about and are therefore able to put them in so many situations with each other. I think part of this comes from the format of a non-linear team shooter video game - to make strong, funny characters in this format can't rely on like, really reacting to story beats or even in "scenes" with other characters. There's no real back and forth dialogue in the game, but you still get a sense for these characters and how they interact with each other even if you've consumed none of the supplemental material (animations, comics, etc)

So I have a question. One that links back to the scene in Season 4 during the conversation between Nancy and Steve in the Upside down during the last episode and why I'm not really a fan of how the aftermath of it is handled in some fics I've read, but this is solely based off my own opinion.

For the sake of fanon over canon (canon doesn't exist. I dont know her) Let's say theres a scenario where all of the party are together, Eddie and Max are recovering and they're all at Steve's or something like that. But if we're gonna go down more of a canon route in S5 with Nancy, Jonathan and Steve, I honestly dont think either of them will end up together. (Mainly because I have a bad feeling at least two of these three arent gonna make it out alive) but back to fanon, let's say Jonathan and Nancy have broken up but they're still learning how to be around eachother as friends just like Steve and Nancy are doing. Again, I feel like this would've been a way better way to go for their character development if Stancy were spending their time together just learning how to be around eachother again. It would've made for a much better dynamic in season 5 between the three.

Anyhow, I'm getting sidetracked. Goes without saying that Steve is easily my favourite stranger things character. However I've always had some mixed feelings when it came to Nancy, noticing on more than one occasion that while she is genuinely a good person and a complete badass who knows how to get shit done, she seems to have some problems feeling empathy for others, especially if the situation doesnt apply to her, though you could argue that Mike has the same issue when it comes to El and Will, in which he tries to understand but when he knows he cant he instead becomes frustrated and more often than not takes it out on them. Nancy definitely has this issue with Steve in season 2. During the first part of season 2 and to an extent season 1, Steve tries to offer her a distraction to her problems with guilt rather than a solution. And to an extent I believe that was how Nancy came to view Steve during season 2. A distraction instead of a solution, eventually realising this distraction was no longer helping her and taking out her frustrations on the distraction before finding a solution by going with Jonathan to find Murray for answers and realising that Jonathan was the one she wanted.

However during season 3 they seem to have a hard time understanding eachother and on top of that the two barely interact with Steve at all. Yet in season 4 Steve and Nancy are left to reconnect while Jonathan is in California, not to mention the underlying subplot that her and Jonathan are realising that much like her and Steve, they each have very different ambitions.

Nancy is very career driven and wants to make a difference in the world. Jonathan just wants to take care of his family and stay close to them following everything that has happened and is unsure if what he really wants is to spend his life following Nancy rather than being by her side. Steve on the other hand has developed a somewhat paternal bond with the party following what is implied to have been a very fundamentally lonely life. It's for this reason that it makes sense he would he happy with a simple quiet life, travelling the world with a family of his own. I'm not sure if the Duffers did this on purpose to mislead us or whether they've just forgotten what each of these characters have been through in each season but when you put all that in perspective, none of these ambitions align in the slightest. If anyone thought that the whole winnebago talk would actually become a reality in season 5, maybe in an epilogue or something like that, then people seem to not realise that Nancy wanted anything but to end up like her parents and displays little interest in anything other than protecting those she has and focusing on her career. A simple life would not be satisfying for her.

Long story short, trying to put Stancy back together romantically would not work for either characters arc, at least in my opinion. If they were able to form a strong platonic friendship by the end of season 5 then that would be the most satisfying outcome to me.

On a slightly different note I started this with a question. I see it alot in fics where people tease Steve for expressing what he wants out of life, i.e, the whole six little nuggets conversation. Honestly I found that while scene really sweet and the characters in fics rarely bring this up as a way to be mean. But I've seen in some that Nancy actually brings up what Steve told her in the upside down as a way to tease him in front of their friends. Again, it's hardly ever written with any malicious intent other than to embarrass him but even so I really dont see that being something she would ever tell anyone, even their closest friends. While I stated previously that Nancy struggles with empathy, I fully believe that she sees that moment herself as Steve being truly genuine and heartfelt with her. Point being that as much as the idea may not appeal to her, she can see would not use something like that as an excuse to bring up in conversation as a way to tease him or embarrass him by stating out loud for everyone to hear that he once dreamed they would start a family. I dont believe that Steve would repeat it to anybody else either, even Robin. That is something personal to the two of them whether Steve really knows what he wants or not and it's clear that there are alot of unspoken things regarding the past between them that I can see bringing up some tension in season 5.

Though I can't deny that I've had some angsty ideas following these thoughts. Imagine another scene like the bullshit scene in s2, only its after she finds out that Jonathan lied to her about college and maybe she gets drunk again, possibly for the first time since season 2 and when Steve tries to comfort her (maybe he found her first or she seeks him out, idk) but she reflects back on how it felt reconnecting with him in 4 and the conversation they had and drunkenly makes a move on him and is left even more confused when he rejects her and throws back in his face everything he said to her. Maybe Robin or Eddie or Jonathan overhear and jump in to seperate them before it turns into a fight. Steve feels guilty while Nancy is just even more confused about her feelings for Steve and Jonathan. Maybe it ends with them finally talking things through, Steve confesses he has feelings for someone else (I wonder who) and with a clearer head they realise it makes more sense for them to just learn to get to know eachother as friends again.

So what are your top headcanons on Keira? Like I know a lot of people give her crap because of what happened in Jak 2 and how ND basically just nerfed her character in J3 only to make her more relevant in Jak X.

Número uno, I WILL return to this eventually because I'm not entirely done yet with the entire JND franchise and everything I am thinking about will probably become more solidified when I finish up 2-X. Número dos, when it comes to the "female character who often gets shafted by the narrative in a playstation game" category of character (kyrie devil may cry 4, kairi kingdom hearts), I will basically go right to their defense no matter what, so chances are I'll stick by Keira's side despite the character nerfing.

That being said, I do have some ideas....

Based on what I've played so far of Jak 2 + all of Jak 1, Keira was probably the most well set for acclimating to a 300+ year timeskip. She's a freakin mechanic and is skilled with her hands, so of course she picks up building as a job once she gets time skipped, and racing as well because that's popular at the time. I have a feeling if time shenanigans permit Keira was also the person who created the original prototype for the zoomers used in JND2 before the timeskip (kind of like how Elsie Bray/the Exo Stranger from Destiny 2 made the sparrow/bike prototypes in that game). She can fix and mod cars and probably is the one who modified Jak's main car in jak X to be a one seater instead of 2. She also has an interest in precursor tech and knows how some of that works, so hypothetically speaking she could pilot a mecha/gundam if she wanted to or incorporate it into her work. If the JND games didn't go the way that they did sequel wise, I think Keira would have definitely become a sage, but probably not the Green sage because she doesn't fall into the traditional "the party healer is a girl" trope (just like her dad) and is more of a technical person. My brain says blue eco.

Character dynamics wise... I don't know yet, but Keira might've been entirely by herself for 2 years out there in Haven working on the time machine zoomer thang alongside the racing gigs she did (not including the people Krew might've sent to her or Erol showing up to hit on her), which might've worn away at her spunk/made her more solitary by virtue of being by herself but she stays optimistic anyway. I do feel like she would be friends with Tess considering she's kind of "normal" and level headed compared to her old group (jak, dax, samos). Ashelin might intimidate her or awaken her bisexuality I dont make the rules, but also remember that I haven't beaten all the games and don't know if they actually all interact at least once in game. If they don't, that means more stuff for me to write!!!

Keira and Daxter would probably work together willingly, even though Dax annoys her. All I'm saying is if Keira had found out even earlier before the 2 year skip that Jak was being held captive in the palace, she would've inverse The Escapists that shit alongside Dax and try and break Jak out of there. She does know where the maintenance elevators are in the area, so a full blown heist doesn't seem too outlandish. She's still got spunk to her even after 2 years with none of her friends/loved ones around her, so she can banter for longer with Daxter if they got the time. Out of the original Sandover trio, she's the middle ground between Dax and Jak and their mediator. She isn't above duct taping Dax to the wall if anything gets too out of hand though

This part is gonna sound a little self-indulgent, but this is my house . Keira and Jak literally share interests so of course they're gonna be interested in eachother. Honestly I think Keira's the one wearing the pants between them, not because Jak doesn't take the initiative with her, but because he respects her and doesn't see a need to step in/insert himself into what she does. Same goes with Keira, there's mutual respect and they help each other out, but she is more outgoing than Jak is and can set him in the right direction if anything bad happens. She might not entirely understand what happened to Jak during those 2 years he was MIA, but she still tries to make sure he's OK/be a support system for him. Also they're bi4bi I again do not make the rules.

Everyone and their mother doesn't consider The L*st Frontier canon or that it ever happened but it's also where the heaviest redesign Keira has ever had comes from. I think it's actually kinda cute. Maybe the shirt she's wearing is an old shirt of Jak's, considering he was also an avid blue collared shirt wearer. IDK that's also very self indulgent for me LMAO

Last thing, there's no way that after a long time or working with heavy machinery and power tools that Keira isn't at least a little bit muscular. Just toned a liiiiiittle bit. Like she has her tummy and arms out, you can probably see some muscle definition through there, same with her back.

I'm not really a vminie, other than that I enjoy their bond and sometimes blink several times in amazement at them, but if I could maybe build a little on what your last anon asked and maybe throw a few of my big vmin eyebrow raises into your ask box to maybe start a discussion? I honestly think it's really healthy for jikook shippers/believers/whatevers to get into the weeds on vmin ship tumblr or twt. You could pick any ship for what I'm about to explain, but taekookers tend to be explicitly nasty, yoonminers just straight up explicit, and the rest of the ships just don't have the presence to create a good deep dive (except for maybe namjin? who wants namjin deep dive blog recs?) But vminies are mostly normal. They think their ship is in love (or at least used to-- huge drop off in those blogs and twt accounts posting in the past year or so, for obvious reasons) and they base their theories around that. They're rarely super disparaging towards the other members, and the vmin bond is so open that they don't need to really create insane theories. They just vibe. They also seem to be handling the more recent proof that their ship isn't real extraordinarily well without falling into delusion. I would say none of the other big bts ships would do the same. (and I have proof tkkers wouldn't). But for anyone who really thinks Jikook is real (I'm like 75/25 myself), I think it's valuable to look another narrative, with a lot of genuine contradictions in it to the 'standard' jikook one, straight in the face and take in how perspective can change something. It's healthy. These spaces so quickly fall into echo chambers.

off the top of my head, my big vmin eyebrow raises:

vmin have zero physical boundaries. open affection, sometimes truly bafflingly so. all over eachother and almost never pull away. (jikooker: of course they don't pull away, they're not hiding anything. do you see the way jimin leaned so naturally into jk but then saw the camera--. vminie: vmin go 2 seconds without touching eachother challenge failed)

they literally acted out being boyfriends on more than one occasion (jikooker: it was s roleplay! you know how tae is! vminie: they're trying to tell us!)

4'oclock, scenery, and sweet night. 4'oclock is explicitly about jimin and has been confirmed so on MULTIPLE occasions by the members. That in and of itself is insane (i wrote a long long letter to the moon one night but it wasn't as beautiful as you PLUS namjoon's moonlight movie ref, whew), but if you then look at the lyrics to scenery and sweet night the lyrical parallels and common themes paint a pretty crazy picture. Vastly beyond any song jikookers have ever managed to tie to their ship, except for maybe the serendipity i am you you are me. (jikooker: tae is just a lazy songwriter of course he's using the same themes, you don't know his live. vminie: LOOK AT HIM ALL HIS SONGS ARE JIMIN CODED HES CRAZY)

I also think jikookers could use a solid rewatch of older bangtan content. I'm watching BV2 right now and the amount of time that Jimin spends hanging off Tae/they spend together is truly incredible. In Jikook spaces all I got out of it was a few scattered fragments of interaction (Jungkook spends WAY more time gravitating towards Seokjin in Hawaii at least by my read)

Do I think vmin is real? No, for obvious reasons. But I think paying attention to the way a ship can generate these narratives is important for all shippers.

Co-signed 100%. I always find discussing Jikook and Vmin and the difference in their dynamics really interesting. What I covered isn’t anywhere near the level of discussion I could go into, and a few followers I’ve exchanged DMs with know what I’m talking about lol.

I also need to watch the BV series again and have been planning to. It’ll be nice to watch them with fresh eyes.
