When the plastics came to yours that afternoon, they didn't expect to find you with some random kid. Gretchen assumed he was maybe a cousin or something that you had to look after. Karen didn't care for details, she just smiled and ran over. Immediately joining the game of patty cake you'd been playing with him. However, when Regina stepped through the door her eyes widened and she stopped in place for a moment. Why did you have a kid? She shared a glance with Gretchen who shrugged. Letting Regina know she didn't know either.
You looked at them and smiled," hey! This is my Godson, James. Say hello, Jay." You gestured to your girlfriends, the four year old boy stopped clapping his hands so he could wave. Giving the three girls a massive smile.
"Hii!!" Gretchen 'awed' and ran over, sitting next to Karen while Regina rolled her eyes. Scoffing and muttering a 'whatever'. Though when nobody but the boy was looking at her she gave him a little wave.
James seemed pretty happy with Gretchen and Karen. Giggling as he made grabby hands at the girls, each girl taking one of his hands." Jay this is Gretchen and that's Karen." You made an exaggerated point to each of your girls, making sure he could easily know who was who. Then you pointed to Regina," and that's Regina."
He looked to Regina again and held his hands out to her," gina!!" He giggled, Regina froze and looked at you for help. You laughed and scooped James up into your arms, walking over to her with a smile.
"Here, he seems to like you. Wanna hold him?" You asked, seeing how Regina's eyes went wide and she stuttered.
"W-what? No, ew." She put a hand out to refuse but James grabbed her hand. Gripping her thumb in a way that made her heart swell." Damn it..." She muttered.
Gretchen and Karen laughed, watching the way Regina relaxed around James. "Regina? Finding a hidden soft spot for kids?" Gretchen teased.
"Ugh, no." Regina replied, yanking her hand away to appear 'cool' rather than soft. Karen giggled and shared a look with Gretchen. You shook your head, but James started crying and reaching for Regina. Only for her to back away and glare at him.
"Hey, hey shhh." You shushed him, giving his forehead a kiss as you brought him back over to Gretchen and Karen. Rubbing soft circles on his back," that's it, you're okay. Regina's just a big meanie." You said in a baby tone. Regina folded her arms across her chest.
Karen watched you with a smile," woah, you're really like a parent."
"Yeah?" You glanced at her but mainly kept your focus on James until he calmed down. Setting him on the floor.
"Totally!" Karen nodded. Her eyes never leaving you.
"Honestly yeah, you did like such a fetch job calming him down." Gretchen added in.
You smiled at them," thanks, guys. I'm going to go put him down for an afternoon nap. Then we can hang out."
They nodded and you went off with James. Coming back almost an hour later. It had taken a lot longer than you'd wanted, but your girls weren't mad. They understood. They were just happy to have some time with you, though seeing you with James definitely had all of them thinking about the future. Even Regina.

The Queer Best Friends of Steve Harrington | Robin Buckley (ft. Steve Harrington) (pt. 1)
MASTERLIST | AO3 | KO-FI
PART ONE | PART TWO (COMING SOON)
Relationship(s): Robin Buckley x gn!reader (romantic), Steve Harrington x gn!reader (platonic), Steve Harrington x Robin Buckley (platonic)
Summary: Whilst coming out to Steve, Robin reveals something equally shocking to the revelation of her sexuality.
Warnings: Coming out scene. (Let me know if I need to add any)
Word count: 1.4k
(A/N: This has been an idea I’ve wanted to write for literal years. I found this as a semi-finished draft of my old plus-size-reader-insert blog from back in the day (by that I mean, a few years ago). I haven’t yet finished Stranger Things season 4 (I’m hoping to rewatch the show in its entirety soon, possibly after I’ve finished Yellowjackets), but I still really wanted to write this. Also, as a nonbinary person, I really want to write more gender neutral reader-inserts for Robin, so let me know if there’s anything you’d like for me to write. Also, ignore the fact that Steve uses gender neutral pronouns for you but fails to immediately comprehend Robin’s queerness.)
Tumblr media
Cheating death was sure to bond two people, and that’s how you and Steve- a pair of reluctant babysitters- were able to put your differences aside and keep a group of misfit kids out of harm’s way. He didn’t care that hanging out with you meant he was no longer cool, and you didn’t mind that a few girls were insanely envious of you. If anything, it inflated your ego, even if they did whisper about you behind your back.
Over the summer, you saw Steve as much as possible. After all, you were too broke to go on vacation, you didn’t want to hitchhike around the country and you had no one else to hang out with. So, you decided just to hang out with your best friend as much as possible. And, what are friends for if not for allowing their friends to abuse their friends and family discount at their place of work? After all, he abused your 7/11 discount over the past year, so of course you abused his Scoops Ahoy discount. Every. Single. Shift. Hell, you only ever really showed any interest in his work when you were asking when his next shift was. Then you’d make sure to go and pay him a visit, like the good friend you were.
You were often so busy talking to Steve at the campy ice cream parlour that you didn’t notice the curious, gazing eyes of the beautiful girl behind the counter. You remembered Robin from many of your shared classes. You exchanged the occasional comment in class, earning quiet laughs from one another. Little did you know, she’d found her gaze wandering to you long before she started working with your best friend. In fact, other than the fact that she was in the school marching band, you knew very little about her.
That was until the end of the second week of summer, when Steve was in the back room of Scoops Ahoy.
“Hey, Robin,” you greeted casually, as though you were good friends rather than just barely acquaintances.
“Oh...um...hey, Y/N,” she greeted awkwardly, straightening herself into a nonchalant-looking pose rather than her bored, hunched-over position at the counter. “H-how’s it going?”
“Eh. Could be better, could be worse, y’know?” you shrugged. “What about you?”
“Um... I’m fine, I guess. Well, as fine as you can be when you leave the house dressed like this,” Robin answered with a small gesture to her outfit, earning a laugh and smile from you that made butterflies flutter in her stomach.
“Your uniform looks better on you than Steve’s looks on him,” you shrugged, the compliment heating up Robin’s cheeks. “To think he was once the king of Hawkins High.”
Robin smiled a little and chuckled.
“Speaking of the king of Hawkins High, do you want me to get his highness from the backroom?” she asked.
Luckily for her, you hadn’t noticed the way she was staring at you, because you had been too busy flicking through and counting dollar bills in your wallet.
You glanced up at her and flashed her a smile.
“Yeah, thanks.”
After that day, you spoke to Robin a lot more often. In fact, you asked her if she wanted to go to your house and watch the copy of A Nightmare on Elm Street that you’d finally been able to rent. Following that, you hung out with one another far more often, be it at the movie theatre, somewhere else in the mall or at one another’s houses. Steve was definitely a little jealous that his best friend was being stolen, something that you and Robin most definitely noticed and most definitely teased him for.
It was shaping up to be a normal summer, but that’s just not what you get in Hawkins. At least after you’ve been roped into the town’s self-appointed team of defenders.
Of course, it wasn’t long before you were in charge of a very drugged-up Steve and Robin, as well as Robin and Erica. You clearly weren’t as good a babysitter as you’d thought when you lost the elder two of the four, who you would later discover were now sat in the bathroom.
Whilst you were rushing around the mall like a frantic parent in search of their children, they were having a surprisingly emotional conversation.
“Do you remember what I said about you and Y/N always being so close? About me being jealous and, like, obsessed?” Robin asked.
“Yeah,” Steve nodded, curious to see where this was going.
“It isn’t because I had a crush on you,” Robin confessed and bit her lip gently. “It’s because... they don’t stop laughing at the stuff you say. They look at you like you’re the greatest guy in the world.”
“Huh? Y/N?” he said.
Robin chuckled lowly.
“Yeah. Y/N.” She paused. “I want them to laugh at the things I said and I want them to look at me as much as they look as you... but they’re always with you, laughing at the stupid things you say and looking at you and your stupid hair. And, I don’t understand because you-you picked on them about everything since you were kids until you guys just suddenly became best friends. And, you’ve always been way stupider than them. And, you’re a douchebag. And-and you don’t even like them like I always did even though they were always the funniest and coolest person and...I’d just go home and just scream into my pillow.”
“But Y/N’s-” Steve responded, confused.
“Steve,” she said softly, tilting her head a little in mild frustration at the fact it hadn’t clicked in his mind quite yet.
“Yeah?” he asked, breathing out a confused laugh.
She looked at him, and then it hit him. His eyes widened a little, but he never looked disgusted, which she’d feared.
“Oh,” is all he could say.
“Oh,” she mimicked softly.
“Holy shit,” Steve breathed out, leaning back in disbelief.
“Yeah. Holy shit,” Robin repeated half-heartedly, also leaning back as she looked to the ceiling. She then looked down at her thighs, sighing a little at the silence they now found themselves in. Filled with nerves and slight relief, Robin looked up at Steve.
“Steve...” she said softly. “Did you OD over there?”
“No, I just, uh...” Steve said almost breathlessly. “Just thinking.”
“Okay,” Robin whispered, scratching her neck awkwardly.
“I mean, yeah,” Steve said. “Y/N’s cool and all, but...I mean, they’re a total dork.”
“So what?” Robin asked.
“They’re in the chess club and they watch Star Trek,” Steve answered.
“They have passions. It’s cute,” Robin defended.
“Look, they’re my best friend, but... if you ever wanna be more than that with them, I gotta be sure that you’re prepared to handle all of their nerdy...ness. Like, we saw the Karate Kid 7 times when it came out because ‘it was the coolest movie since Return of the Jedi’. We saw the Breakfast Club 10 times because ‘it’s, like, the best movie made since the Karate Kid’,” he said, imitating you with an unflattering voice.
“They don’t talk like that!” Robin laughed.
“That was a great impersonation,” Steve responded. “Oh, and when they’re listening to music, they try to sing the words and the instruments.”
“I think it’s cute!” Robin exclaimed in protest, laughing even harder when Steve started singing some Rush song you’d sung to yourself several times, whilst also vocalising the guitar, bass and drums in intervals, not unlike someone trying to do all the parts to Bohemian Rhapsody on their own. Steve laughed just as hard as Robin when she joined in, with the both of them knowing it solely from your renditions of it. Eventually, they were just both laughing with one another, making Robin feel accepted by her friend. When the laughter faded away, and they were both smiling.
“For what it’s worth...I think you should ask them out,” Steve told Robin. “They’ve spent so much time with me and they don’t seem interested, so they must be into girls. And, looking back on it I think they have a crush on Princess Leia.”
Robin chuckled and sighed. “I’m not... you. I can’t just go up to them and ask them out.”
“Well, luckily for you, you’ve got a totally awesome wingman.” Steve said.
Robin rolled her eyes.
“I’ll tell them when we’re not in dange-”
She was interrupted by the door slamming open, and you were standing in front of Dustin and Erica.
“Okay, I’m really mad at you guys right now, but I’ll be pissed at you when our asses aren’t on the line. Let’s go.”

Shoutout to indigenous systems who don’t feel seen or heard and feel invisible and like an afterthought, even in POC spaces, your feelings of frustration and anger are valid and white systems and nonnative systems of color need to do better in including our voices and not contribute to native erasure which is painfully common for us!

This is really stupid. It is disgusting that underage girls are getting breast augmentations, when they should be encouraged to believe that their bodies are fine as is, that they don’t have to look a certain way or have a certain cup size to be worthy.
Non reconstructive plastic surgery preys on people’s insecurities, particularly that of women, who make up most of the clientele. These girls shouldn’t be allowed to get augmentations as teens, but let’s be real. What’s more invasive, a breast augmentation or a double mastectomy? It’s a simple question with a simple answer. A mastectomy literally scoops out your BREAST TISSUE and leaves you within uneven fat distribution (a lot of the times) and very identifiable scars on your chest, if you get double incision. I won’t even bring up the severe complications.
A mastectomy removes a literal part of your body. Implants can be removed. Breast tissue can never be replaced. These two procedures are nowhere near comparable. Also, doesn’t anyone find it suspicious that the regret rate for other surgeries is actually quite high (I believe knee replacement surgery is about ~20%) but miraculously double mastectomies and sex reassignment procedures that entail literal castration have a regret rate of just 1%? Doesn’t anyone find it strange that the 1% regret rate is used as a blanket rate for hormone replacement therapy, double mastectomies, facial feminization surgery, and sex reassignment surgeries? That the distinctions between trans men and trans women and nonbinary people are never made?
Astonishing how effective these surgeries are, isn’t it? There’s no way researchers would sift detransitioners out of their research pools, that detransitioners would never return to their surgeons to report regret, or that short-term studies would be used to prop up statistics that should really be observed over decades, right? Right?? As we know, the medical industry has everyone’s best interests at heart and would never obscure surgery complications or regret rates in order to justify butchering perfectly healthy people.
Get a fucking clue.

I have a question if that's alright. In you honest opinion, considering certain spoilers of the Monster High Movie; do you think they'll bring Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde back? Or do you think they have no chance of ever returning? I think it would suck a lot if they never came back. Jackson and Holt were, and always will be, my favourite mansters from Monster High, and never seeing them again makes me a little sad.
All questions are welcome! tis why my ask box is open! don't be shy! I will try to answer to the best of my abilities. Hmm, I need to be careful how I answer this because I just got done writing a College level dissertation defending Gil Webber and my brain hurts.
Okay! here's the scoop, I love Monster High in all of it's forms- this even includes G2, because of this I have been desperately trying to find ways that the G1 & G3 continuities can play nice together so that BOTH canon can peacefully coexist. I don't think the old Bloodgood is gone- I just think she retired and the new one is her wife. I don't think OG Lagoona is gone- she just got bounced out of the school database when G3 Lagoona got accepted & decided to go join the Olympics.
As for Jackson and Holt it is slightly more complex, but go with me on this journey. G1 in the same breath introduced us to Jackson and Holt and then yanked them away from us! Plus they were not in G2 at all, which means their doll sales were poor. This does not bode well for them returning for G3. HOWEVER! all hope is not lost! We have an ace up our sleeve! The Monster High Live action movie brought the whole Jekyll and Hyde thing back to the front of our consciousness. Mr. Komos is related to Mr. Hyde! which means TECHNICALLY He'd be related to Holt too. Someone mentioned him being Holt's uncle and I am 100% for that! Jackson and Holt would fit perfectly in G3's Monsters Vs Humans conflict! we haven't seen a character this complex since Warren Peace! Holt and Jackson could be a liaison for Monster Human relations! Maybe Holt wants to help repair the damage his uncle did! Maybe Jackson can help Clawdeen learn to love her human half! there are SO MANY OPTIONS! it writes itself!
Also: it's been 12 years, Frankie and Jackson/Holt never became official! I'm tired of waiting Mattel!
Tumblr media
Do the fans right! No lone Manster was ever good enough for our Frankie! it took 2 in one body to make them happy! and they deserve to be happy! Also: can you imagine the sensationalism that would follow!? Jackson/Holt dating nonbinary Frankie!? Frankie is not a girl! which means Holt/Jackson are not straight! all of your Bi & Pan Jackson/Holt head canons just became real! you're welcome! AND Jackson/Holt could ALSO use they pronouns because they are 2 he's in one body! they are they in the plural sense! he/they! This would generate so much news and buzz! Mattel wouldn't know what to DO with all the press! you can't buy this kind of advertising!
Now, the unfortunate part of this is Mattel does not have an excellent history of listening to fan requests or fans in general BUT we still have a voice! We bullied Mattel enough that they brought Ghoulia and Spectra back for G3 after they were missed in G2. Let me be absolutely crystal clear: Do not bother the actors or voice actors of the G3 Monster High series... they have zero say in company business. If you want Mattel to listen to must contact them directly, e-mail them or call them to get in touch! Blow up MH's social medias! Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook! tell them what you want! Holt and Jackson back! (if you could also mention that they need to get a handle on their quality control that would be very helpful) If you're an artist please keep drawing fan art of our boy(s)! Mattel keeps tabs on that kind of thing! it lets them know who the fans (us) like!
I firmly believe there will be nothing but good to come if Jackson and Holt come back for G3. Please blow up Mattel, be aggressive and assertive! we can bring Jackson and Holt back if we are loud enough I am confident in this! Mattel wants us to be happy! happy people buy their products! Be loud! draw fan art! tell them directly! it takes all of us!

Notes: This chapter’s a little short, but the next one is gonna be really long, so hopefully that makes up for it
On Sunday the next day, Patton finally took Roman to buy his gym clothes. Roman was trying to hide a goofy smile while sitting in the back seat, desperate to not get his hopes up while also ecstatic his plan was working so far. He was going to have Patton stay in the car while Roman shopped for clothes! This had never worked on his dad before!
By the time Patton finally parked the car in the parking lot of the store, Roman’s chest felt weighted from his anxiety, waiting to see Patton’s final verdict. So long as he didn’t change his mind now, then Roman was in the clear. He hoped to be in the clear.
“Alright, kiddo,” Roman’s heart stopped as Patton pulled out his wallet and gave him some money. “Forty dollars should be more than enough for some pairs of gym pants and shirts. Give me back all the change when you come back, okay?”
“I will! Promise!” Roman wanted to jump for joy. It was working!
“Text me when you’re checking out so you don’t surprise me, and if you see something else you might want, just text me before you buy it so I know. Tell me if you have any issues, okay?”
“Okay!”
Patton smiled. “Go on then, kiddo.”
Roman practically leaped out the door to skip his way to the front entrance of the clothing store, two twenty dollar bills crumbled in his pocket. He got away with it! No parents staring him down while he changed outfits!
Roman walked into the store and tried to hide the skip in his step. With no parents to watch him, he could buy what he actually wanted to wear, no tight pants and scoop neck shirts. No, Roman wanted to look like his real goal. His goal of being a blob of cloth that vaguely resembled a human.
Granted, he’d mostly gotten there. His aunt replaced all of his wardrobe, so his current clothes were a lot more comfortable to wear even if they weren’t very fashionable. Mostly bright colored t-shirts and pants, maybe some shorts if they were able to reach down far enough. Maybe once he was more comfortable with himself he could actually test out more styles, but for now, oversized clothes were all he could handle.
Roman’s walk sped up slightly when his eyes landed on the men’s athletic section. He had to be quick with this, he didn’t want Patton getting impatient and coming in to check on him. Roman looked through the shorts and shirt sizes, easily finding a size up for a couple shirts while heavily struggling on the shorts. Roman groaned. It was always the shorts that caused the issue, they were always too high up. What if he was sitting down and the pant leg rode up too far? No, Roman refused to get something like that willingly.
Roman took all the athletic shorts that could fit him and held them up in front of his legs. Most of them only made it to his lower thigh, but he managed to find two shorts that made it to right below his knee. Roman smiled and bounced on his toes, grabbed his items and rushed to find a dressing room. Once he did, he rushed into the first empty area he saw and locked the door. The mirrors on the walls and gaps in the door made it hard for him to change comfortably, so instead Roman tried to press himself against the very corner of the room when he was changing.
Between the six shirts and two pants Roman found, he was pretty happy with most of his choices. Thankfully, the long shorts looked fine, so Roman hung them up on a hook with a sign over it saying I’m buying this! and considered it a success. However, when it got time to look at the shirts, only three of them were good enough for purchase. The white one he grabbed was practically see-through, and the other two had a scratchy inside material that Roman couldn’t stand, so they got put on the reject hook while the other three passed the test.
For a rushed shopping visit, Roman was pretty pleased with his choices. Two shorts might not be enough for five days worth of classes, but maybe Roman could keep one pair in his locker until it started to stink. Which might be a little gross, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
Roman exited the dressing room and put his rejected shirts on a rack outside, carrying his other items to the checkout area. Before he got in line, he looked at all the price tags and added them up in his head best he could. The shirts were about six dollars each, and the shorts were a little over five after tax. Which means, adding up the extra cents, he’d have to pay twenty nine dollars for the clothes in total. Considering Patton gave him forty dollars, this was plenty.
Roman hesitated for a second. He stuffed his hand into his pocket to feel the money in the palm of his hand while he thought about his options. If he told Patton the truth, Roman would give him eleven dollars and there would be no issues. Patton might let him do this again next time they go shopping, too. But also…Roman had no backup plan. He was stuck with Patton with nowhere to go if things went wrong.
His aunt told him that Roman could always go back to her house if a guardian was abusing him, and he had every intention to take her up on that offer the second the opportunity arose. But even if Roman walked to her house on foot, he had no money for food during that trip. She lived so far away from him now, there was no way to get to safety without a dollar to his name. But if he stole some from Patton, then Roman could have a serious issue on his hands.
Roman slowly walked up to the check out area and handed the teenage worker the clothes. As she scanned all the items with a satisfying beep, Roman felt himself getting antsy. There’s no guarantee Patton will let me do this again. I’ve already gotten away with so much, and the more time I spend around him, the more danger I’m in. But if Patton notices I stole from him, he could be furious. Is there even a right answer here?
“Twenty nine dollars and thirty two cents.” The cashier said cheerfully. Roman handed her the money and she put it in the register, then handed Roman a bunch of coins, two five dollar bills, and a one dollar. She smiled. “Would you like a receipt?”
“Uh, no thank you.”
When the receipt printed, the cashier tore it out and threw it in the trash behind her. “Have a nice day.”
“You too.” Roman squeaked, rushing away from the register to stare at the money. Apparently they ran out of ten dollar bills, because the money was split perfectly for taking without it being obvious. Roman considered this a sign to take his chance. He put a five dollar bill and a quarter in his left pocket and shoved the rest in his right. It wasn’t much, but he could build it up. This was only the beginning.
Roman walked out of the store and tried to act normal instead of anxious. Worst case scenario, he’d say he forgot to bring out the rest and give Patton the other bills. Giving away the quarter also would be too obvious, but he could get away with stealing that at least. When he made it to Patton's car, Roman opened the back seat and tossed his clothes next to him.
“Hey, kiddo!” Patton greeted, “Got any extra cash to give me?”
“Uh, yeah, here.” Roman dug into his right pocket to grab half the money and handed it to him. Patton put the coins in his pocket and put the two bills in his wallet. He didn’t seem to consider how much Roman gave him, instead he started backing out of the driveway and got distracted while reversing. Roman let out a quiet sigh of relief.
He felt the five dollars still stored in his pocket. He got away with it. For now.
***
“We’re home!” Patton announced as he and Roman stepped inside. Logan and Virgil were both lying on the couch, and Logan perked up from his spot.
“Wonderful. We wanted to ask both of you a question.” Logan said.
Patton seemed intrigued. “What question?”
“Can we go to Janus’ house, Pat?” Virgil asked.
“Oh, of course, kiddos! Do you know when you might be back?”
Virgil thought about it. “Probably at six before dinner.”
“Perfect! Just text me if that changes so I don’t worry, okay?”
“We will.” Logan reassured, “And Roman, would you like to come with us?”
Roman tilted his head to the side. “Me? I don’t even know who Janice is.”
Virgil sunk into the couch more. “Friend of ours. Has a snake, talks a lot about philosophy and books. Acts like a tired underaged wine aunt.”
“Right, well, still. Isn’t it a little strange for me to tag along to a stranger's house?” Roman pointed out.
“Janus wouldn’t mind, I’m sure.” Logan said. “Of course, you don’t have to, we simply figured you would like the invitation so you’re not the only one left out.”
Roman’s eyes widened when Logan said that. Wait, shit, if Logan and Virgil are going to this girl’s house, then Roman will be here. Alone. With Patton. Until six in the afternoon.
Roman’s mood change was almost instant. “Well then, perhaps I should go! Make new friends and establish bonds, or whatever!”
Virgil smirked. “Sweet. It’s a short walk, just a block away. Just let us grab our shoes and we can head out.”
“I’ll tell Janus we’ll be bringing a third party.”
Roman let out a breath of relief. As Virgil and Logan grabbed whatever they needed, Roman set his new bag of clothes in his room next to his backpack. He’d have to remember to put some boxers in there before tomorrow morning, too.
Roman felt the five dollars in his pocket again. He took the money and hid it deep in his backpack in a hidden pocket he hoped wasn’t too easy to find. Satisfied with that for now, Roman stepped back outside of his room and waited for the others.
Once everyone was situated, Virgil called out to let Patton know they were leaving the house and then closed the door. Logan and Virgil did most of the talking as they walked while Roman just listened, following behind them and letting the two lead the way.
“Oh, and Roman,” Logan suddenly said during a point of silence, “Another one of our friends may also show up later at Janus’ house. He said he might be coming, so we’ll see.”
Roman shrugged. “Sounds fine to me.”
“Alright.”
No one said anything else after that on the walk. After a while, Virgil and Logan stopped in front of a house and started walking up the driveway to the front door. As Virgil knocked on the door, Roman stood awkwardly off to the side until someone answered.
It wasn’t long before the door swung open, showing a teenage kid with a large birthmark under his left eye. He rested his elbow on the top of the black and yellow cane next to him and smirked. Was he the brother, perhaps?
“I’ve been expecting you.” He said menacingly.
“‘Sup, fucker.” Virgil greeted.
“Hello, Janus.”
Wait, what? Against his better judgment, Roman forced himself to stand in front of Logan to face Janus. “Wait, your name is Janice?” He asked.
Janus put his hand on his face. “Janus. It’s Janus. J-a-n-u-s, not the old lady name Janice.”
Roman felt his face grow hot. “…Oh. Well, uh…”
Janus rolled his eyes and held the door open wider. “Just come inside.”
Virgil was the first to step in, with Logan following after while Roman hesitated. He made an awful first impression, maybe he should just walk around the block for a while instead-
“Come on, my arm is tired.” Janus coaxed. Roman felt too awkward to walk away, so he instead sucked it up and stepped inside the house with everyone else.
The house was quite nice. The walls were painted dark and the carpet was red, but it looked nice in a Victorian era kind of way. On the living room coffee table were piles of fabric and a sewing machine, seemingly making something that looked like a suit. Janus took the cane he was holding and threw it onto the couch. Well, apparently it was just a part of the outfit.
Virgil motioned to all the fabric on the table. “Fuck are you making now, dude?”
“I’m making the refined villain look of my dreams.”
“Nice. When do you think you’ll finish it?”
“Possibly tomorrow. I’ll start on it again after school.”
“Do you make your own clothes?” Roman asked, hoping to distract himself from his previous embarrassment.
Janus smiled slightly. “Less clothes, more costumes. Mostly for myself, but sometimes I make them for the high school’s theater when I’m feeling generous.”
“Oh, that sounds fun!”
“Wanna see Janus’ costume closet?” Virgil asked.
Roman shrugged. “If he wants me to.”
“Oh yeah, just talk about me like I’m not here.” Janus rolled his eyes and motioned for everyone to follow him. He had a downstairs family room with a closet off to the side. Once everyone was downstairs, Janus opened it and let Roman look inside.
“…Woah.” Roman looked at all the costumes, astonished and full of wonder. A lot of them were very extravagant, like they were specifically designed for a dramatic person, so Roman felt a calling toward them. He took a few of them off their hangers to look at; roaring twenties inspired suits and a black dresses with fancy gold finishes. Roman ran his hand on the fabric like they were fancy relics.
“They are quite high-quality.” Logan said, “Costume design is certainly one of Janus’ greatest skills.”
“I can see that.” Roman whispered.
Virgil rolled his eyes. “Don’t make his ego bigger than it already is.”
“Oh no, please do continue, I’m designed to be the center of attention.” Janus smirked.
Roman laughed and put the costumes back on the rack. It seemed like him and Janus were pretty similar in personality, just on opposite ends of the spectrum. Both dramatic artists, except one likes to add that with tons of sarcasm. He could see them getting along quite easily.
“Also, Janus,” Virgil said while looking at his phone, “Rat bastard says he’s coming over. He’ll be here in ten.”
“Ugh, fine. I was getting used to the silence.” Janus sighed.
“…Who’s rat bastard?” Roman asked.
“Friend of ours.” Virgil replied, “You’ll meet him in a bit. He’s a rat bastard. Smells vaguely of cheese.”
“…Attractive.”
“You get used to it.” Janus shrugged. He then smirked at Roman like he got an idea. “Would you like to see my snake?”
Roman’s eyes lit up. “Yes!”
Janus led them all upstairs to his bedroom, Roman following last in the line so he could keep Janus’ door cracked open. As he stepped inside, he noticed a very large cage on the wall to his right. It was very long with lots of wood decorations spread across the container, with a fluorescent lightbulb above it. Roman looked around in the enclosure to try and spot the snake.
Before he could find it, Janus opened the top and stuck his hand in the cage. The snake climbed up his hand onto his arm, and as Janus stuck him out for Roman to see, Roman jumped back.
Janus rolled his eyes. “He’s a corn snake, he’s not known for hurting people.”
Roman still looked at it from a distance. The snake was large enough that Janus had to hold him with both hands, as well as being a mesmerizing yellow color. Roman never had a friend with a pet snake before. “…What’s his name?”
“Lawrence.”
“Nerd.” Virgil called out.
Logan smiled. “I think it is a wonderful name. Lawrence Kohlberg developed the theory on moral development, the very basis for ethical behavior.”
“Nerds.”
“You’re very mature, Virgil.”
Roman ignored them. “I think he’s cool. How old is he?”
“About five. I’ve had him for a while now.”
A buzz came from Virgil’s phone, making him check it and read the message. “Rat bastard says he’s outside your door.” He announced.
Janus didn’t seem rushed. “He can get in on his own.”
Roman laughed, and Janus set Lawrence back in his enclosure so he could bask underneath the heat lamp. Roman still watched his movements from inside the cage. “I wish I had a pet.”
“Patton would get you a dog in seconds if you asked.” Logan suggested.
Roman shook his head. “It’s fine, I won’t ask.” He didn’t really know what kind of pet he even wanted, and besides, it’s not like he’d be able to keep it once he leaves Patton’s house. There was no point.
Suddenly, a loud stomping came from the stairs outside Janus’ bedroom. Roman yelped and ran to hide behind Janus in the corner of the room, but the others didn’t react.
Roman sputtered. “What the-”
Before Roman could finish, a large bang came as someone kicked open the door and let it smack into the wall.
“I’m back by unpopular demand!”
“Hello, Remus.”
Roman completely froze up at the sound of that name. He turned around to look at the person that just busted down Janus’ bedroom door, a kid with messy hair and peach fuzz for a mustache, ripped jeans in the summer with a cast boot on his right foot.
Roman felt himself choke on air as he processed what was in front of him.
“Slugs are goopy like jello! So jello is made of slugs, duh!”
“Remus, that’s gross! No one would make food out of slugs!”
“What’s up, fuckers!” Remus announced. “I’m back from the pits of hell! Also known as the emergency room.”
Roman didn’t say anything, only stared at him in disbelief. Remus’ voice was a lot different now. He’d hit puberty, so the pitch had dropped a lot from what Roman was used to. A tuft of his hair was white, also. Roman couldn’t tell if it was dye or a condition.
That piece of hair and Remus’ mustache were the only things that made them both look apart now.
“What actually happened?” Logan asked. “You never told us specifics.”
“I broke my foot sucking too much-”
“Remus.” Janus warned.
“Fine, fine. I tripped trying to run up some steps and my fall didn’t look badass at all. Don’t tell people that though. If anyone asks, I broke it running from the cops.”
Janus nodded and smirked. “Noted.”
“We brought a third foster brother, also.” Virgil noted. Roman stopped breathing.
“Oh, really? Shit, I fuckin missed everything!” Roman looked in the corner trying to avoid Remus noticing him, but it was never that easy. “Why hello, welcome to our humble- …Oh, fuck.”
Remus tilted his head to make eye contact with Roman, and the surprise on Remus’ face was something Roman would never forget. He seemed genuinely baffled, like nothing in the world would have prepared him for what he saw. Roman wanted to cry.
I wanted to leave behind these people.
“…Roman?” Remus finally said, “Dude, holy fuck, I haven’t seen you in forever!”
“Wait,” Virgil staggered, “You know each other already?”
“He’s my fucking cousin!” Remus exclaimed. “Come on, look at us, we’re only a little related but we look like twins!”
Logan turned to Roman. “Is this true?”
Roman could feel the tears ready to burst. His throat was scratchy, but he tried to talk anyway. “…I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Come on, Princey, don’t be shy!” Remus teased. “We used to be best friends, let everyone believe we were twins until our moms called our shit out. Absolute bastard children- …wait. Wait a fucking second.”
“What is it?” Janus asked.
Remus turned to Virgil and Logan with a shocked and confused face. “…You said he’s your foster brother?”
Logan nodded. “That is correct.”
Remus turned to Roman, seemingly at a loss for words. “…Dude, the fuck? What happened?”
Roman looked at the floor, gripping onto his arm so hard it’d be a miracle if there weren’t marks later. “I said I don’t want to talk about it.”
“I mean, I know I haven’t seen you since your mom fucked off to Neverland, but what happened to your dad? He’s still alive and shit isn’t he? The hell happened?”
“I said I don’t want to fucking talk about it!” Roman seethed, grinding his teeth together as he practically growled out that sentence.
Virgil flinched violently. “Roman-”
“Whatever!” Roman pushed Remus off to the side and kicked the door fully open, storming his way down the stairs despite the sounds of people yelling for him to come back. Roman stomped out the front door and took a sprint for it down the block, not caring if he had to be alone with Patton, so long as he wasn’t here.
“I bet you would eat a slug!”
“No I wouldn’t! Liar!”
“Boys, boys!” Roman’s mother laughed, crouching down to meet their eye level from their place sitting in the grass. “No eating slugs. Be nice to the bugs or we’ll go back inside.”
“Yeah, Remus!”
Remus huffed. “I’m not doing anything!”
“Not yet!”
Roman’s mother laughed again. “I’m going to help Uncle André with dinner. But I better not hear a fight, okay?”
“Okay!” Roman promised, watching as his mom went back inside his uncle’s house into the kitchen. Roman and Remus continued to play in the grass by looking at bugs and telling stories to each other, making Roman smile more than he has in a long time. He always loved going to Remus’ house. His dad never came with them, so he and his mom were always happier.
“How come we never go to your house?” Remus eventually asked after a few minutes of playing. Roman stuck his tongue out.
“‘Cause our house is tiny and the backyard isn’t as cool.”
“Still! When you come over, you never bring Uncle Theo!”
“Good!” Roman defended, “Dad’s boring so he doesn't getta come!”
“I like him! He’s fun and nice and always brings chocolate!”
“He’s awful!” Roman covered his mouth after he blurted that out. Remus gave him a look.
“He’s not awful!”
Roman looked over to the glass sliding door. His mom was in there, he could see her, but she couldn’t hear him. Maybe he could get away with it. He could tell Remus a secret and his mom would never find out.
Roman hesitantly took his hands away from his mouth. His tone grew to be a lot softer. “…He is, though.”
Remus tilted his head to the side like a dog. “What makes him awful?”
“…Promise not to tell anyone?”
Remus leaned in closer. “Uh huh!”
“No one at all, ever?”
“Triple quadruple promise!”
Roman looked back at his mom. She wasn’t paying attention to him, seemingly talking to his uncle and pouring juice into cups. Roman hesitated for a moment. “…My dad-”
“Boys! Dinner’s ready!” Roman’s mom called out, making Roman jump almost a foot in the air. Both of them got off of the grass to walk inside, but before they did, Remus turned to Roman again.
“Your dad what?”
“…Nevermind.” He missed his chance. Remus would never find out, and Roman never told anyone for another five years.
Roman ran faster down the street at the memory, fighting back the tears in his eyes. It was fine. Roman was fine.
He never wanted to talk to Remus again.

gender nicepost of the day :)
been working at this early elementary childcare job for eleven months, gotten to know a lot of the kids, have been out as nonbinary to our boss and some coworkers since the beginning but not like, further than that, because we're still working on being comfortable enforcing our gender with people we aren't close to.
however! spontaneously decided to make a bit of a fresh start when summer camp started and we knew we'd be meeting some new faces, so we've been wearing our they/them pronoun button every day at work. and it's worked amazing! the entire staff in gr 3-5 (none of whom i really knew before camp) smoothly picked up on it without any comment from me, and kids have been asking about the button in their curious kid way (cis adults do not do that and it is my PEEVE its normal ask me about it). so i get to talk about it and explain it to kids age 5-11! it is really nice.
the past week has had a sudden random uptick in nice happy experiences around getting to explain things to kids, such as:
being asked if i'm a boy or a girl (favorite question) by an 8yo girl, explaining neither/both/non-binary, and her thinking for a moment before saying she wants to be non-binary because she likes wearing boys shorts. she is so cute i love that child for many reasons such as Being Sooooo Like Child Me.
this one's not explaining things because i DIDNT HAVE TO!! kid i knew because she went to my dance studio when she was wee, and was the younger sister of a junior teammate there, informed me that the older "sister" i mentioned changed their name and pronouns! and she pointed to my button :) i went 🥺🥺🥺 OHHHHH ME TOO THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!!! it was so sweet. absolute bounce in my step for two days about it
and then today, 6yo girlie i interact with frequently, who commonly has Problems With Rudeness / Insensitivity to peers but is sweet when her impulses arent telling her to be a little asshole, was.... asking me? what i wanted? after i explained i'm not a boy or a girl and i like to be called they? we were playing a game together, she told me it was my turn, then she stopped and asked me if it was okay that she called me "miss nasper" (all the staff are mr/miss [name])? and i like. WANTED TO CRY AND SCOOP HER UP? IT WAS SO CONSIDERATE? LIKE, ADULTS HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS? I DIDNT EVEN SAY ANYTHING? IM USED TO GETTING "MISS"ED AND IM JUST ECSTATIC ABOUT WINNING CORRECT PRONOUNS THIS SUMMER? AND ON HER OWN SHE THOUGHT "wait. thats a girl word. thats probably not right" and she ASKED 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 theresa babygirl you made me smile so hard today. (btw i said i did prefer to just be Nasper, i don't mind if she forgets that but the fact that she asked at all blew me away)
kids are so sweet. i love them. i love them so much

Im just an absolute mess over here reading all your nonbinary jules, as someone nonbinary who goes by my shortened deadname it's like absolute christmas to see that there's a character I love so also deals with that and just marc being an absolute pie and I would sell my right arm for more content, you are an angel among mortals and I'm always :,,,,) when I get a notification that you post
More Non-Binary Jules coming right up. I got an ask earlier about Jules coming out to their parents so here it is.
Please leave any more prompt ideas you have!!
CW- Misgendering and deadname (don’t know the name or pronoun change), a lot of food mentions
“Babe?” Marc whispered as he laid his head on Jules’s chest.
“Yeah, darling?”
“Love you.”
“Love you too.” Jules shook lightly with an easy laugh. “Is that all?”
Marc let out a hum. “Are you going to tell your parents soon?”
Jules froze. “Baby.”
“I know you’re nervous but nothing’s going to happen. Your parents are some of the most accepting people I’ve ever met in my life. They aren’t going to care.”
“I know. But they always talk about me and Katie together and talk about me finding a nice girl.”
“I know for a fact that they said the same thing to Remus.”
“But that’s the point. They aren’t going to get the ‘normal’ wedding experience. And add in the fact that it wouldn’t even be a stereotypical ‘gay’ wedding. Considering the fact that I’m not even a guy.”
“Which you also should tell them.”
“Which I also should tell them.” They echoed back.
“Truly Jules. They will not care at all.”
“But how do tell them?”
“Make them a cake?” Marc shrugged.
++++++
“Hey, mom.” Marc leaned against the kitchen island. “Would you possibly be able to make a chocolate cake for Jules’s parents?”
“Sure, sweetheart.” Celeste smiled. “Any special occasion?”
“That’s how Jules decided to come out. Write it on a cake.”
Celeste let out a small laugh. “Well tell them I am very happy and proud of them. I’ll have that ready by tonight.” She turned and started pulling ingredients out of the fridge.
“What do we say? ‘Congrats on raising not one, but two queer kids. One uses they/them pronouns. And is also dating the brother of the person you keep trying to set them up with.’” Jules asked.
“I don’t think that will fit, but probably that should be the gist of things.” Dumo laughed.
“Alright. ‘Congrats on raising two gay kids. And one nonbinary.’ and then just tell them about Marc.” Jules said.
“Yeah, that works.” Celeste nodded, handing them and Marc icing bags.
++++
“Hi, Julian.” Hope smiled as Jules walked into the house.
“Hey- oh, hi.” Jules greeted their brothers who were also over.
“We’re out of leftovers and neither of us can cook so we’re here,” Sirius explained.
“Celeste baked a cake and told me to bring it so I guess we have that for after.” Jules held up the box with the cake inside.
“I’ll take that from you, Julian.” Lyall reached for the cake.
“Uh, I got it.” They said as they moved it to the back of the counter, not wanted them to see what was written inside of it.
Remus gave them an odd look. Jules nodded back microscopically.
“Jules come sit.” Sirius pulled out a chair beside him.
“Thanks.” Jules nodded and sat down. Quickly realizing they were too anxious to eat much.
“You’ve barely touched your food, Julian,” Lyall noted.
“Oh, yeah, um, just not hungry. I ate at Marc’s house.” They set down their fork.
“How’s Katie?” Hope asked with a smile.
“Um, she’s good,” Jules said. “She was at Macie’s house when I was over so I didn’t really get to talk to her.”
“Mom, how’s that new plant you got doing?” Remus changed the subject as soon as he could. Smiling when Jules mouthed out a ‘thank you.’
++++
“Ready for cake?” Lyall asked everyone.
“I’ll get it.” Jules jumped up and ran to get the cake.
They hesitated as they went to open the box. The thought of just dropping it became more and more tempting.
“Need help?” Sirius’s voice made them jump.
“Yeah.” They breathed out shakily.
“Oh. Nice.” He laughed when he opened the lid. “You ready?”
“Not at all.” They shook their head, stopping as their phone went off in their pocket.
Everything will be okay. Only downside is that we have to sneak around at two houses now. Love you lots, baby.
Jules smiled as they read over the text.
“Aww” Sirius read over their shoulder.
“Hey!” They hid their phone.
“Let's go show your parents the cake and put an end to your schemes.” He nudged their shoulder. “Want to carry it or are you too weak?”
“Um, can you please?”
“Sure bud.” Sirius smiled and scooped up the cake.
“Cake time! Jules designed it by the way.” He set it down on the table.
“Oh, honey.” Hope gasped lightly as she read the words.
Jules stood off to the side, looking down at their feet.
“Non-binary means they/them pronouns right?” Lyall asked with a smile.
“Yeah. And, uh, I go by Jules now. Instead of Julian.” They nodded.
Hope walked over and hugged them with tears in her eyes. “I love you so much, sweetie.”
“Love you too Mom.” They hugged her tightly.
“I love you, Jules.” Lyall joined the hug.
“Love you too Dad.”
“Wait, what about Katie?” Hope pulled away.
“She, uh, she’s not the only Dumais my age.” They smiled.
 “Oh. Marc?” Lyall asked.
Jules nodded again with a smile.
“I am so, very, very happy for you both.” Hope kissed his cheek. “But you two.” She spun towards Remus and Sirius. “How long have you known?”
Jules phone buzzed as Hope interrogated Remus and Sirius about how long they had known.
M- Told you it would all be okay. ;)
How’d you know I told them
M- Because I can feel that you’re happy
M- And Remus texted me
Idiot
M- I love you
I love you more stupid
Jules smiled and stuck their phone back in their pocket. “Who wants cake?”
Characters belong to the always amazing @lumosinlove
Kind of rushed. All my stories are written between 11 p.m. - 1 a.m. while I fight sleep and it is currently 1:42 a.m. so the ending is a little of a lot a bit all over the place. (Yes I do have school tomorrow and yes I do have to get up in 3 hours.)

Imposter in Our Midst - Imposter x Crewmates
Okay, so this is some A.mong U.s/Within Us content, whoo-hoo! Yeah, that’s right, besides the Voretober content! (I have another Within Us story written up for the Ship entry already~) So to be fair, this was written in like 2 hours, barely proofread, and is WHOLLY inspired by this post over on @nom-central’s blog by a lovely anon named Vee. Vee, this is your fault, so this is for you! Also with bonus additions from the tags. So have this take on some ali-yum noms~
Contains: Soft Vore, Safe Vore, Fearplay, Teasing, Same Size Vore, Nonbinary Pred, Alien Pred, Unspecified Prey, Multiple Prey, Female Prey, Willing Prey (eventually), Begging Pred (eventually), Fatal is briefly mentioned but it doesn’t happen, also a bit of magic shrinking is involved to explain the multiple prey thing Word Count: 2.5K
She'd seen it gobble up another crewmate with her own eyes, stuffing them into a wide maw on their stomach and swallowing them up. The 'crewmate' in the black suit purred loud, patting their belly as it shrank to contain the other being without a trace. Chloe gasped and dropped the clipboard in her hands out of shock, the loud clatter immediately giving her away.
Black whipped to stare in her direction, the lime-suited scientist felt her blood freeze in fright. No...! This wasn’t happening...!! Black growled low and deep, dark tentacles springing from their back as their stomach growled loudly. Drool slicked what should've been their face-shield, a grin splitting their visor.
The voice in the back of her head whispered 'run,' and that was all that it had taken to free up her legs. She bolted out of the room, fright fueling her desperation. She heard the monster in human's clothing tear after her and she knew that if she made one wrong move, it was over for her. Chloe fled through the facility, careening around a doorway so fast that she almost slammed into the wall in her panic. She knew it was practically breathing down her neck- she couldn't let it catch her!
She ducked through the lab, slipping through a decontamination cycle with ease. She thought it might trip up the monster after her as she turned to check the doors- but a loud and ominous creaking filled the room. Those black tentacles seeped between the doors, prying them slowly apart with pressure alone. An alarm started squealing as Chloe's voice quavered a cry- this thing was strong and intent on catching her!
She bolted as soon as the other doors opened, not looking back to see the creature forcing its way through the first door. Into the greenhouse she fled, the humidity fogging her face shield quickly. She slapped her helmet open, panting in terrified exertion. She couldn't let it catch her- her only chance was to make a quick loop on the catwalks and avoid the carnivorous plants that they were studying, then bolt into the decontamination again and hope that the monster has to pry open the doors again. Chloe didn't want to think about if this plan didn't work...!
She ran out onto the catwalks, her footsteps shaking and echoing on the metal grating. The vines of the plants twitched and twisted at the new and erratic movement, sensing a meal in their midst. Chloe swallowed, panicking as the heads of the large purple 'flowers' began to turn and open in her direction. Now she was being hunted by even MORE creatures...! She ran down the middle path out of desperation, hoping that the monster couldn't follow her through such a busy path. Rustling and thumping rattled the metal pathway beneath her- she had no clue how many of those vines had just barely missed her.
She turned to run to the left- but a sudden shadow loomed in front of her and blocked her path. She shrieked, recoiling back and stumbling over her own feet. She fell back onto the grating hard, the rattle of metal echoing in her ears as she looked up in terror. It was the creature, still in the form of the black crewmate, grinning wide with its impossible face. Two sets of eyes opened on its visor, that grin stretching wide enough to reach up to the sides of its 'face'. Its stomach growled, loud, low and angry.
Chloe gasped, scrambling back on the pathway in fear. Everything else was forgotten. Her pulse pounded in her ears. This was it, this is where it was going to end- But rather than pounce, the creature... tilted its head with that grin still on its face. And then it spoke.
"Lofton, Chloe." Its voice was low and hissing, sending shivers down her spine as it said her name, "Role: Technician." It was almost purring, approaching with slow steps. She tried to crawl back further, it hovered close before she could. "Intelligent, but oblivious," it grinned wide as it stood over her, its belly beginning to split like it had before. Chloe whimpered, remembering flashes of Red being stuffed down into its gullet. "I wondered how long it would take for someone to notice my- eating habits." She shivered, the alien creature standing almost directly over her now. The maw in its belly opened, teeth and tongue visible inside. "I've been waiting to devour you for so long..." it purred, staring down at her ravenously, "I saved the best for last~"
Above this creature, movement caught Chloe's eye. She shifted her attention, still terrified- when she noticed one of the open flowers moving above them. The creature hadn't noticed, reaching down towards her... But it took a moment to realize that her attention had moved to something ABOVE. The creature in human guise halted, squinting its eyes. Just as it turned to look above them, vines lurched downward towards the two figures. A look of dawning horror crossed the alien's face just as it was suddenly ensnared in the tough vines of the flower.
The creature let out an unholy shriek, thrashing against the grip on its body as another vine added to the mix. Chloe gawked, her jaw falling open as the plant scooped away her attacker. It was- It was trying to eat the creature? Chloe sat up in complete shock and mild terror. That was... That was almost her. She was just almost eaten...! But... From what they had found out about the flowers, it was not pleasant for victims. Being consumed over days, alive for most of that... It was a terrible, painful death.
The alien shrieked again, a grinding and desperate rasp as it fought. Its tentacles tangled in the vines, but they didn't seem to be able to pry them off. Chloe hesitated, working herself to her feet as she stared. It... As much as it was as close to eating her as it was being eaten right now... She couldn't just stand by in good conscience. Even though it had eaten her crewmates, she couldn't let this happen when she could do something. This was- crazy and practically suicide, if not from the plant then from the victim... But she didn't want to just stand by!
The girl sprang into action, leaping up onto the rail to meet the vines that were taking the alien away. She reached out, grasping at the vines. The alien whipped around to stare at her, all four eyes wide with terror and astonishment. Chloe ignored the look, gritting her teeth as she tugged. The vines gave slightly, but started to tighten further. She grunted, using her feet on the railing to anchor herself. The plant was trying to draw both of them towards its open flower and she wouldn't let that happen!
In the back of her head, her mind told her that the alien had clearly spoken english- so it understood her. She reached out, trying to free the black imposter. "Grab onto me!" she ordered, "Hold on and I'll get you loose!" The creature hesitated, clearly mystified on why she was attempting to help it. But after a second, she saw its tentacles shift. It let go of the vines around it and the black tentacles reached for her instead. They wrapped around her shoulders and waist, anchoring them together. She resisted the urge to shudder at the strange sensation and reached her arms out to it again. "Link arms with me!" she told it. Quickly it obeyed, reaching out and grasping her arms.
Chloe grasped its arms just the same, steadied herself on the rail, then pulled backwards with all of her strength. She strained and heaved as hard as she could manage, her voice trailing with a high groan. Her teeth were on edge, her arms trembled as her legs pushed back, and the alien stared at her with terror in its eyes. Slowly the vines started to give, creaking and slipping away from the other creature. They found that if a meal was too much of a fight, the plants would back off. Apparently Chloe was triggering that, more vines slipping. "Come... ONNNN!" she grunted, strain tight in her voice.
Then suddenly the creature was freed. It bundled into her from force alone, both of them colliding and spilling painfully onto the walkway. Chloe panted and gasped, reeling from exertion and the fast trip. Suddenly there was a tug at her arms, pulling her to her feet. "Quickly!" the creature hissed, yanking her along. She followed blindly, running behind it without regard to what was going on.
They ran back into decontamination, not stopping as they ran past the ruined door and into the lab. Finally Chloe could run no more, tripping over her own feet and skidding to a stop on the floor. She gasped for air, involuntary tears trailing from her eyes. Everything hurt, her heart was pounding out of her chest, she was absolutely terrified... And she was probably about to meet the same fate as her crewmates. The thought occurred to her that she saved this creature and it was probably still going to eat her anyway. A quiet sob shuddered her shoulders as she laid prone on the floor, the girl giving up then and there. She wouldn't be able to fight it, anyway...
Black boots appeared in her vision, sluggish tears making her vision wobble. This was it... But rather than grabbing her in those tentacles like she thought- A soft hand patted her head instead. Still the tears flowed, stopping wasn't an option at this point. She whimpered a soft sob as the hand stroked her head gently. "Hush, human," the low voice above her soothed softly, "It is alright. Don't be afraid."
"B-But..." her voice stammered shakily without her consent, clogged with mucus and exhaustion, "You'rrrre... gonna eat muh-me... t-too..."
"I will not," it responded softly, "You risked your life to rescue me, even when I was trying to devour you and your crew..." There was a low purr and Chloe dared to look up at the creature, her tear-stained face meeting its distorted one. Its eyes were narrowed with concern, that impossible grin gone and replaced with a soft frown. "That is more than I have ever been offered before. There is nothing stronger than a sacrifice like that."
Chloe sniffled, reaching up to wipe the thick tears on her cheeks. Mostly she just spread them with her lime gloves. "You're... not gonna... eat me...?" she asked slowly, still sniffling and panting. Her tears had slowed but were still leaking from her green eyes.
The creature shook their head. "No," it replied, "You are safe." Chloe paused briefly... Then let out a shuddering, sobbing breath as she collapsed on the floor again. Relief flooded her as a few more tears squeezed out of her eyes, her hands grasping feebly at the tile. She was safe... The black suit turned and sat down in front of her, still reaching out to pet her head. "And I want you to know your crewmates are safe as well," the creature added.
"Huh?" she asked, glancing up at the larger figure, "But..." She sniffled, rubbing her wet cheeks again. "D-Didn't you... eat them?"
"Yes," it replied without hesitation, "But they are safe." It reached up to its midsection, patting it with its free hand. "Within me. I have a device that shrinks and places others inside into stasis. They are safe, just asleep." Chloe looked to its hand, then back to its face in confusion. The creature hesitated, then began to explain further. "I was ordered to covertly capture and deliver the humans to our base for observation," it spoke slowly, "But... I believe it might be best if I observe here... plainly instead?"
Chloe sniffled, mulling the words over. There was a pause between them, then she looked up... and gave the creature a soft, watery smile. "Y-Yeah..." she replied. It broke into its own wide smile, creasing its four eyes up with happiness. Chloe paused, wiping her cheeks again. "Um..." she started slowly, "What, um... What do I- call you? Since you'll be around?"
The creature hesitated, then leaned down to her face. "I... That is very private. True designations are private among my kind," it explained quietly.
Chloe frowned, realizing that she probably had overstepped a boundary already. "I-I'm sorry," she murmured, "I didn't mean to... ask something so personal-"
But the creature's hand reached out to her, shushing her with a soft tap to her lips. It smiled again. "But I will tell you. No one else must know my real designation- it is only for you to know."
=-=-=-=-=
It had taken a while, but now Imp was a regular part of the crew. Ever since the incident, Imp stuck close to Chloe for the most part. It often had to be reminded that it too had tasks to accomplish. It had sworn off all covert activities and made a pact not to hurt anyone on the crew.
But one of the things that separated Imp from the others was that it still craved live meals. It still desired prey to wriggle inside and mostly the crewmates served that role safely. However, the one that Imp seemed to crave the most was Chloe, whining and begging through the loud growling of its tummy.
"Please, please, Techie," it whined, its black head nuzzling against her own as she connected wires in the barracks, "Please, I'm so hungry... Please, I just want a little taste, a little moving inside, please?"
Chloe rolled her eyes, stepping over to the laundry chute. "Lemme dump this-" she started before Imp was nuzzling her again.
"Please, Techie..." it begged, a loud whining growl of its stomach matching its words. "Please let me swallow you, I'm starving..."
Chloe pulled the handle with a sigh, shaking her head as she let go. "Now I'm done," she announced, "You're free to eat me, then-"
Tentacles lashed out, snaring the smaller human by the waist as Imp grinned. Drool slicked its jaw as its belly opened to reveal those teeth again. "Thank you.... Thank you!" it purred, practically shoving her into its stomach. Chloe grunted and fidgeted as the huge tongue in its belly curled around her, pulling her in greedily. One quick slurp was all it took and the jaws closed over her and sealed her in. A swallow tucked her deep into the damp, slick, and familiar confines of the imposter's belly.
Imp sank to the floor with a long, grateful sigh. Its belly rested on the floor, full of the smaller human. It caressed the lump in its middle lovingly, both arms and all of its tentacles getting in on the act. The growling had turned to sated grumbles and gurgles and the human's wriggling inside felt amazing. Its toes curled, a low thrumming churr pouring from its mouth. "Delicious... as always, my dear Techie..."
Chloe kept up her 'struggles' inside, making sure to reach all the sensitive areas she had mapped out in her head. "Mmph... A-Anything for you, Rinth," she murmured over a burble beneath her.
The imposter melted from her movement inside, then from her use of its real name. "And for you... Chloe..." it whispered reverently.

hello hi , it is g , ur friendly local neighbourhood hindu indian ( as in south asian  ) ! so a few people requested that i just make a guide-esque sorta thing on hindu  indian characters ! im not really good at guides , so instead , these are just little things i’ve noticed or picked up on that could really potentially strengthen the next indian character u ( pretty please ! ) pick up !
disclaimer : i am writing this from my perspective and it is NOT definitive , nor do i speak on behalf of all hindu indians  ! i am a 23-year-old bisexual cis female hindu indian , with one older gay brother, and a Train Wreck middle brother . my mother is from new delhi , and my father is from nairobi but has indian heritage ( not sure which part of india bc he’s an Engima ) . i have extended family in india and have visited india about 10-15 times throughout my entire life .
so firstly , im so glad u all are here and want to write more hindu indian characters ! please please do so !  i hope this helps , encourages u , and isnt too confusing !!
psa : i need everyone to know that this is a very basic ‘ guide ‘ and theres a lot it DOESNT touch on or address bc i didnt want to get too Extensive and Detailed and have people Turn off and not Read it . this is just written in the terms of hopefully helping build  character / be relevant to characters a bit better that ive employed into writing my OWN hindu indian character creations !  but if u have any other questions pls reach out to me or any other indians in the rpc and im sure we’ll try our best to assist u !
FCS:
one thing i’d really like to say is that its great to see fcs like dev patel  , deepika padukone and avan jogia picked up every now and then in rps , but there’s actually a LOT of other indian fcs you could be and should be using ! the main reason people don’t seem to know them is because they’re not ‘ hollywood ‘ stars per se ( it was a super big deal when pr*yanka broke out of bollywood and into bollywood but we don’t talk about her on this Blog ) . they’re usually bollywood stars and i don’t really see bollywood discussed that much in the rpc !
if you’re after MORE indian fcs , i have a tag of indian females here , and indian males here . the fcs on my blogs are also not ALL that exist . there are plenty of other blogs out there that post indian fcs , such as sonamhelps &  bollymusings !!! there’s also some really great faceclaim directories out there that include a LOT of indians with resources !
 unfortunately , i do not know of any trans indians or nonbinary indians but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist . indian cultures and beliefs are still quite Old School and not super progressive . india only just had it’s first wlw mainstream bollywood film released last year . lgbtqia+ issues are NOT really spoken about in india or within indian families at ALL , and if they are - they’re usually dismissed or reacted to Very Very Badly . ( again this isnt definitive and im sure and hopeful that some indians have had GREAT coming out stories and been accepted by their families but this has not been a common thing ive seen or witnessed from my cousins my age , indian friends , myself and my brother who are lgbtqia +  )
FOOD :
we do eat with our hands and we eat like PROS with our hands . we can shovel it so easily and quickly . i don’t know how to describe it but you use the first three fingers of your hand to place the Food there , and then use your thumb to kinda scoop it off and into your mouth . this is NOT unhygienic because indians wash their hands very regularly and most of the time we aren’t actually touching our mouths to our hands !
indian food is MADE to be eaten with your hands for the most part . it is literally NOT practical to eat food with a knife and fork . here’s a really great article explaining things more in depth re: indian food and using our hands !
cows are seen as Very holy beings in hindu indian culture , and for that reason - there isn’t a lot of beef being eaten or consumed. sure , some indians DO eat beef but i don’t think its super common, but in my personal experience as a non-beef-eater this results in A LOT of me asking ‘ oh ,  sorry what sauce does that pasta come with ? ‘ ‘ oh those are beef sausages ? sorry i can’t eat them ‘ etc etc . beef is in a LOT of things , and this makes me very very careful and almost pedantic about what i do eat and ask about , food wise  !
indian food is seen as stinky by a majority of white people . it has a very very strong smell as im sure u know , and opening ur lunch box as a little kid to a Curry or Dal ur mum has made u ? one way street to being bullied . i also remember a time a real estate agent continuously told my dad nobody was interested in buying our house bc it smelled too much like curry,  despite my mum not having cooked curry in Weeks ( just say what u Really mean ,  bitch ! )
 indian curry exists but so does dal / daal . this is curry-like dish that is usually made out of lentils . so if ur going to talk about indian food and u know curries and samosas . . pls also bring up dals . and sabji ! ( sabji is usually just boiled vegetables plopped together . a lot of potato usually )
desserts are what we call Indian Sweets  . this is stuff that is usually very VERY sugary and a bit of an accustomed taste . theyre very colourful and LOOK beautiful but even i , for one , can not eat many indian sweets bc they are a Lot of Sweet and Sugar    . examples of indian sweets that u can google  : gulab jamun , burfi , rasgulla , jalebi etc . here’s a great link for more !
give me spiced food or give me death . literally . . put some cumin in . . put some garam masala . . put some chillies . . flavour ur Food for my Indian Taste Buds
FAMILY :
if you are the oldest son of an Indian Family . . congratulations . you are now the Head of the family and must carry every weight and burden alone . it is extremely isolating and taxing on you ( my dad is the oldest indian son , and also - so is my eldest brother , obvs ) . there is a LOT that is expected of you to do . you are expected to quite literally run the family and be the ‘ man of the house ‘ by yourself .
if you are a daughter . . . even BIGGER congratulations ! you are basically a maid to every male or guest who EVER comes over to your house . you must be a Hostess , you must be in the kitchen cooking , serving snacks, bringing tea , and then washing up and basically waiting on Hand and Foot . you will not be included into a lot of dialogue or engaged in a lot of conversation and TRUST ME ! THAT WILL GRIND UR GOD DAMN GEARS IN THE 21ST CENTURY !
if you are a boys’ boy ( aka straight and Sporty ) , then congrats ! you get it the easiest : you are the favourite of every social event . the uncles and cousins love talking to you and dude-ing it up with you , and the aunts fawn over you and think you’re the Best Thing since sliced bread . sit back , put your feet up , and expect to be treated like a God. you can do absolutely no wrong . ( my middle brother is this to a T and listen . . he’s been in and out of jail for physical violence and ab*se for over 5 years . and family still FROTH over him . my teeth are gritted to dust thinking of this again )
indian aunties are lethal . they gossip like teenage girls . they will find out everything . they will bitch behind your back . they can NOT be trusted .
everyone is ur uncle or aunt, sister or brother . literally everyone . ur cousin ? no. thats ur sister . ur dads friend ? no , thats ur uncle . you will call them as such . EVERYONE is family .
family is in general a VERY BIG THING in indian culture , too . ‘ what will it Look like to everyone else if we don’t all arrive together ? ‘ my dad usually asks dskjdfjn . it’s all about Looking Right and Standing As A United Front  . that being said , indian family has undying and unwavering loyalty for one another , they just show it in a very Weird way .
FASHION:
female hindu indian formal  clothes are usually really embroidered to hell and back and this makes them very scratchy , uncomfortable, and HEAVY . you aren’t running anywhere anytime soon in a full blown lehenga or saree
most ‘ modern ‘ hindu indian women do not wear full Indian Clothes all the time . some do , but usually it’s a lot of wearing a kurti tunic with jeans , or just normal everyday clothing . again , this is going to be different based on which parts of india your character is from , though !
usually , older women and married women  wear traditiona hindul indian clothing quite often . i know my mum wore a sari AT HOME everyday when i was growing up, until i was like 13 and took her shopping with me to get something Else to wear .
bindi’s just stick right onto ur forehead but they do fall off a lot , especially when ur wearing makeup or sweating . again , you don’t need to wear a bindi everyday , unless thats ur preference . i usually only wear them for festivals . ( festivals means indian celebrations , not like . . coachella  ((which u should not be wearing a bindi to , if ur not indian fyi )) )
male formal clothes are usually just literally anything Formal and buttoned up for the most part , and u can get away with that , or you can wear a really nice kurta
indians wear white at funerals , not black  ( not sure if this should go in the fashion section but this entire thing is being organised into a Mess by now anyways ) . you CAN wear black to a funeral of course , but its common to wear white !
DATING ( tw’s for islamaphobia ):
modern day indian / desi fuck boys exist and my god they are Something Else . hasan minhaj did a really good piece about this and explaining them to a T ( starts at 1:43 )
( THIS IS THE POINT THAT WILL MENTION ISLAMAPHOBIA AND HOMOPHOBIA ! ) basically according to Older  indians , ,  ur dating options  in 2020 go like this ( if ur a cis female like me ) : hindu indian men are god tier , white men are Not Okay But I Guess So Bc We Have To Accept They’re Everywhere , females / being lgbtqia+ is not Taken Seriously , and muslims are literally not even close to being an option or Accepted  . again this isn’t definitive but based on a lot of  indian media i’ve consumed and seen how they portray muslims in general as well as Dating Options , as well as talking to other indians  , both who are older / traditional and hold these ideals , whereas Younger gens generally do NOT hold these ideals  / actively are Against these backwards ideals.   i remember when i was in year 6 and had my first boyfriend . . he was a muslim and my dad FLIPPED the FUCK out  . it’s not even that i was dating someone / young / his only daughter . . it was mainly because i was dating a muslim . again , this is a very OLD SCHOOL and traditional way of thinking and it is NOT CORRECT .  pls don’t take this as a note to be islamaphobic if u write an indian character bc . . thats literally the opposite of what im trying to tell u here .
yeah arranged marriages are definitely still a thing for us , even now in 2020
YES if u are an unmarried / single indian ( ESPECIALLY if ur a woman ) about to enter ur 30s . . ur in DANGER and u are the black sheep and theres probably something Wrong With You bc why are u still single ?
TRADITIONS / BELIEFS / SUPERSTITIONS :
idk if its just me and my family but we are SUPER superstitious . if you say anything like ‘ he hasnt gotten sick in years !’ immediately , everyone knocks on wood or their head . if you were planning on leaving the house and sneeze ? thats bad luck , stand and wait for five minutes then u can leave . we have a strong belief in drishti , or  alternatively : The Evil Eye  , and making sure we don’t invite it into our lives . a lot of our prayers are about warding drishti away .
the evil eye is kinda Complicated but basically its an ill-wishing upon an unsuspecting person . if somebody is jealous of you or angered by you , they may wish upon you or cast upon you the Evil eye ( or even just glare at u whilst ur not looking and thats Big Bad ) .
a lot of older indians , like older people in general i guess , are not super progressive or Open . this isnt ALWAYS the case but older indians can be very very stubborn in their beliefs in what is Right and Wrong , Normal and Not Normal
theres a LOT of hindu indian festivals and events ! tbh too many for me to even keep up with . but without fail at least once a year ill say to ONE of my friends ‘ oh sorry i cant make it . i have an indian Thing on that day ‘ and its usually about a festival , so pls be aware that there are a LOT of indian festivals and if ur writing an indian character , its perfectly understandable and Relatable for them to say they can’t make it to a party or hang out with their friends that night , for that very reason !
the main / most popular ( ? ) festivities  that i personally do celebrate every year without fail are :
diwali ( the festival of lights , celebrating goddess lakshmi roaming the earth . in my household this is usually turning on literally every single light and lighting candles and fireworks / sparklers and saying some prayers , and eating a formal dinner all together !  )
holi ( the festival of colours . celebrating victory and love . again personally for me , this was usually celebrated at the temple with all of us Kids running around throwing paint on each other ! )
rakhi / raksha bandhan ( a day of sisters celebrating their brothers . you tie a rakhi which is usually a bracelet / holy string around your brothers wrist , feed them some food , pray for their wellbeing and in return they gift you something . in my case, i usually get money from them ) .
navratri  / durga puja ( 9 nights and 10 days of celebrations but tbh u don’t have to do all the days . or i mean . . i don’t . i fast one day from morning to night and then i slide on over to boogie and dance dandiya which is literally the MOST FUN dance ever bc its based off some Historical Fight and u go faster and faster and keep going until ur absolutely SPENT bc u dont wanna lose ur place in the circle )
there are SO MANY HINDU INDIAN GODS too . and so many prayers to all of them and to just general Life Wellness . chances are that ur character will know at least ONE aarti / gazal / prayer off by heart and have sung it at least 30 times in a monotone voice . the ones i know off by heart bc ive had to sing them 3000 times ? om jai jagdish hare , & the gayatri mantra
GENERAL LIL THINGS I DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO CATEGORISE ( tw’s for skin whitening , colorism and classism ) :
( THIS IS THE POINT THAT NEEDS A TW FOR SKIN WHITENING AND COLORISM  ) lets hold indians accountable right now : we advertise SKIN LIGHTENING CREAM  . i think they finally stopped that earlier this year / due to BLM ( i’m not entirely sure / could be wrong ) , but thats literally how bad it is , that we would openly advertise and encourage people to literally bleach their skin rather than look darker .
( THIS IS THE POINT THAT NEEDS A TW FOR COLORISM AND CLASSISM ) colorism is a BIG thing in india and usually linked to class . generally speaking , the people who are Darker Skinned are usually people who work outside / labourers or homeless even , and are therefore seen as lower class / bottom class . the lighter skin you have , the more privileged and advantaged you are bc ur seen as working a Good job out of the sun and having a home . it’s incredibly classist as well as just generally Fucked Up . why am i telling u this ? mainly so u understand the importance of using a dark skinned indian fc vs a light skinned indian fc which i know is hard , bc a lot of darker skinned indians arent in hollywood / have resources , but its still something to Think About .
i have a long Ethnic name . literally my first name is 10+ letters , which i know doesnt seem that long Necessarily but its also a Super Ethnic name with e’s and and j and n . it Flows and Sounds very clearly different from a christian name . it is VERY important to me that my name be said Correctly because i’ve spent so much time having it said incorrectly or Westernised . i also know a lot of indians my age who ( like me ) have had to dramatically shorten their REAL first name ( which is usually also pretty long . not always , but it is Common ) , to fit their name into white people’s mouths better . please put some thought into ur indian characters name !
not all indians speak hindi ! hindi is one of MANY dialects within india . there is also tamil , urdu  , bengali , punjabi , telugu and SO many more , so pls research which part of india ur character / their family  is from bc hindi won’t always be the default language for them !
not every indian is hindu ! of course ur character doesnt have to be religious at all , bc if im being honest IM barely religious but my FAMILY is and this is smth u should think abt bc religion is a pretty big thing for indians . so even if ur character isnt hindu , they were probably raised with SOME religious beliefs . have a think about which religions they would have been brought up with ! there’s a very large percentage of practicing muslims , sikhs and buddhists too ! and even christianity !
WRITING WISE / CREATING AN INDIAN CHARACTER WISE :
the first step should be to consume indian media ! listen to indian music . watch bollywood movies ! theres SO MANY  out there on everyone’s netflix . if u want some recs , let me know and i can try my best to find smth for u ! if u want smth thats Hollywood-indian . . . Hasan Minhaj is great to watch , especially his episodes on indian culture / politics , and Never Have I Ever on netflix was rlly good / relatable for me personally as an indian growing up in a western society !
i would really really love to see more indian rep in general , but i’d also like to discuss the Stereotypes that ive seen indians portrayed as in mainstream hollywood media :
indian women as soft spoken and subservient beings who are abused by their husbands and have no say in anything
heterosexuality within indian relationships and indian dating
indian men as sleazy
indians in general not being seen as Sexy or Sexual beings with any sex drive at all
Stumbling , Stuttering , Nerdy awkward messes of men who don’t know how to interact with anybody they find sexually appealing
an indian character that everybody ( usually white ) finds Uncomfortable and Weird and is seen as usually the Butt of the joke .
 i think those mentioned above could be helpful in how to plan your next indian character and think about how to SUBVERT a trope theyre often portrayed as , or create an indian thats not stereotypical !
so what and who SHOULD you write ?
an indian character who is proudly and openly gay , or bi
a trans or nonbinary indian ( PLEASE ! )
an indian character with really super accepting parents and family
an aromantic indian

"You want me to what?"
Alyssa took a deep breath. It was apparent that it caused her just as much pain to say as it did Y/n to hear. "The Grand Magus," She said with great stress, making sure it was clear that this had been  Vera's decision and not hers. "Wants us to dust the wolves to make them forget. Everything." I went to argue with her so she rushed to add, "She thinks that they can't be controlled and therefore they're dangerous." Alyssa grabbed Y/n's shoulder, her desperation clear. The only person that would understand her struggle was the girl in front of her. If Y/n wasn't on her side Alyssa was going to lose her mind. "If you don't, they are going to kill them. All of them."
Y/n covered her mouth with her hand, trying to process. After a moment she moved it so she could speak, but only to her throat, as if pantomiming choking herself. "I have to make Randall forget me?"
Alyssa swallowed hard. "You've got the easiest access to him, and if you do what they say then you'll gain Vera's trust. I..." She closed her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose for a second. When she moved her hand away and looked back at Y/n, there were tears in her eyes. "Listen, I need a friend in this and so will you. I know you care about Randall as much as I care about Jack and we will be the only two in the whole Order that will understand how the other feels. Please, do this for me. For - for you, even."
Shaking her head, Y/n stepped away. Alyssa seemed defeated until Y/n spoke. "I do it for Randall, like I do everything. If I was doing something for myself... I'd do something stupid."
There was a solemness to Alyssa's nod. She had won and gotten Y/n on her side. But at what cost?
Not long after their conversation, Y/n was on a trail to destroy the one thing that meant most to her for the sake of the man she loved. Randall and her had been dating for a while now. They'd met before either of them were part of the Knights or the Order and had started dating pretty soon after their instant chemistry took off without a hitch. When Alyssa had dragged Y/n to some beaten down cabin or house or whatever in the middle of the woods, Y/n hadn't known what to expect until she opened the door and came face to face with Vera Stone, who was supposed to be dead, and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend who was apparently her enemy. It had all been down hill from there, though it hadn't seemed to be for a second there. Randall and her had talked and figured out a system. They'd make it work. They had a plan.
Now it didn't matter.
"Hey there," Randall greeted brightly, grinning from ear to ear.
Y/n was a terrible liar but tried to seem as happy to see him as he was her. She was always glad to reunite with him, but what it meant to meet up with him now... For the first time she wanted to run far away from him and never come back. Maybe then she wouldn't have to do this. But that was, of course, a lie. If she didn't someone else would, and she might get dusted herself when she finally did return. She needed to grow up and just do what had to be done. Until she could figure out a better option, she'd rather him forget her than be dead. "Hey." She didn't stop walking when she saw him, moving right into his arms. He was a little surprised but was always down for a hug.
As had been mentioned before, Y/n was a bad liar, and even more so to Randall who knew her very well and could always tell when something was bothering her. So even though he loved hugs, he was also concerned by the way she was clinging to him. He pulled her back, pushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "What's wrong?" His eyes searched hers, trying to find the problem so he could fix it.
God she was going to miss him. He wasn't just her boyfriend, he was her best friend. How could she just...? No, she would do it. She HAD to do it. "Nothing." She steeled herself, pulling her thoughts together forcefully. This wasn't the worst option. At least if he forgot her, he'd be alive. And he wouldn't hurt either. He wouldn't know to miss her. This was a mercy. This was better than what she would be getting. There was no time for self pity though, she had to focus on helping him. Saving him. She relaxed a little and he seemed to believe her a bit more. "I just missed you."
"We saw each other yesterday," he reminded, his smile growing a little more teasing.
She felt her heart swell. "Well, how am I supposed to ever be okay with being away from the best boyfriend ever? Every second apart is actual torture."
Randall scooped her up against her, kissing her on the cheek. "My adorable, cheesy girlfriend. What would I do without you?"
Y/n felt a pang in her chest. "You'll never know." That, at least, was the truth. She stepped away, turning to the bar. She'd come to the Den since that's where he'd been, studying. Jack had left just before she'd gotten there to meet with Alyssa. Lilith and Hamish were still here though, so Y/n had to either wait for them to get called out or somehow get Randall away. "Want to do something today?" She needed to get this over with. Like a band-aid. Fast.
"Sure, I-"
"Hey, sorry to interrupt," Lilith said as she pointed to the door out they were blocking. "I was thinking about going for a run. I can't focus on homework after having a rough time sleeping. I think it would help to get my blood going." They both nodded at her and parted, letting her pass.
"Anyway," Randall sighed, stepping closer to his girlfriend again. "Where do you want to-?"
"Pardon me," Hamish mumbled as he brushed between the couple, pushing them apart again. "I need a drink." He looked tired, but wasn't it early to be drinking? And didn't he have homework? And class?
They let him go anyway. It wasn't their job to judge his life choices.
A thought did occur to Y/n then though. "...Or we could stay here." She chuckled.
He shook his head. "I can tell you, they definitely left because this place gets really stuffy after a while. We were all about ready to clock in a break. How about a walk instead?" Y/n agreed and he reached out, intertwining their fingers before pushing the door open and heading outside, tugging her gently after him. "You had a class this morning, didn't you?" He asked as a way to start conversation.
She nodded. "Yeah." She shrugged, already knowing what he was going to ask. "It was fine. My professor seemed to be irritated today but I know it wasn't my fault so no stress." She chuckled softly and he smiled. It was known that most of her professors were often irritated with her since she struggled to pay attention in class in a way they found mattered. She knew all the material and got fantastic grades, but spent most of her time staring out the window so they'd try to write her off, just for her to pull through anyway. She'd been accused of cheating even a few times, but she never did so it had fallen short.
They began to circle the house in their little walk, not wanting to go too far and chance running into someone else, but also wanting to get some distance from the place Randall didn't want to be right now. Y/n pulled ahead, turning around so she was walking backwards. He slowed down so she didn't have to walk so fast. "You sure it wasn't you? I swear you always press the right button, even if you're trying to be good."
Y/n rolled her eyes. "I'm sure. Even Mrs. Tynn has stopped her side comments. They're over it. I'm not cheating, I'm learning in my own way, and they don't have enough energy to be wasting it on me all the time." He nodded, recognizing that as fact. Most professors didn't waste energy on students if they didn't feel they had to. Y/n tilted their path, taking them closer and closer to the woods and further away from the Den. It would be best if he was away from it when he forgot, so he wouldn't come back and go searching. "How about you?"
"Thank god I don't have class today," Randall groaned, rolling his eyes. "I was so happy when my teachers all told me I'd have no classes on Saturday." Y/n chuckled, remembering how all last year he'd been whining and moaning and complaining about having class on Saturday. He didn't mind Sunday, and if he had the day off on Friday it bothered him less, but there was something about having Saturdays free that he fed off of. Y/n only had the one morning class, so they usually spent it together.
I guess that wasn't an option anymore.
Y/n wrapped her fingers around the bag in her pocket. It was super small. Smaller than what she'd thought. "Randall," she wondered aloud. He hummed, letting her know he was listening. "Do you ever do something that you regret, but you know you have to do?"
At that he scoffed. "I guess. Not really, for the most part, but I have before." Y/n thought back to when must have been around the time Randall had first joined. He was nervous and jumpy, obviously guilt ridden. The first few times he'd killed people had been obvious in hindsight. He wouldn't let Y/n touch him, and had almost broken up with her because he said he wasn't good enough for her. Then, after a while, he'd seemed to calm and adjust. Y/n wondered if that's what he had in mind when she said things you had to do, but didn't want to. Last time she'd checked, he was plenty fine with it now. He even enjoyed it, having to be reeled in by Jack and occasionally Hamish, and being disappointed when he was.
It came out without her wanting it to. "What if you had to kill me?" He stopped dead and she slowed, leaving a lot of space between them. He suddenly felt incredibly far away and she hated it. "I don't mean to make you anxious - I haven't done anything. I just mean, your job is to kill people in the Order right? You enjoy doing it. It's what fuels you every day. Well, goddamnit, I'm in the Order."
He shifted uncomfortably. "I thought we talked about this."
"I-" She bit her lip, looking away from him. "You guys kill kids our age. Kids who are most of the time just doing what they're told so they can be apart of something they enjoy. Something they worked their asses off to keep being apart of. Something that makes them special." She looked back at him. "What if the day comes that I'm asked to do something and you're told to stop me, and we have to kill each other? Would you do it?"
"Would you?" It was accusing and it made Y/n take another step away, horrified at what must have been going through his head.
"NO!" She felt anger rise inside of her. "I'd give everything to protect you, Randall. But what I do doesn't require me to kill you, does it?"
He seemed to have too many thoughts. The easy going mood from a second ago was gone. "Well I can't just quit like you can."
Immediately Y/n's anger exploded and he looked away, ashamed. He knew how much magic meant to her. How she had spent years feeling like an outsider until she'd learned magic and it had given her a purpose. Somewhere to belong, where things made sense. "If I quit, I would lose everything. Including you. I wouldn't know you were a wolf anymore, and with all that sneaking around... I mean our secrets almost ripped us apart before. You want it to happen again?"
"No," he snapped. His voice sounded raw though, and stress lines were beginning to deepen as the thought of me forgetting him made him feel terrible. Y/n knew, because she had been thinking about it nonstop since Alyssa had told her what Vera had ordered.
Y/n turned around, puling the bag out of her pocket. She stared at it, her eyes watering. She blinked it away, looking straight ahead and setting her jaw. "I love you, Randall. Despite what you think about the Order and what you do and our parts in this world that was supposed to make us enemies. I love you."
Randall sighed behind her, his footsteps sounding as he moved closer. She reached into the bag, pulling out a handful of dust. "I love you too. I'm sorry I just... I don't want to lose you."
"Neither do I," Y/n whispered. His hand reached out to touch her shoulder. The second it landed, she spun around, throwing the dust in his face. He collapsed right there and she felt her heart shatter. She slipped the now empty bag in her pocket, staring at him. He suddenly woke up, gasping, eyes flying open as he looked around, obviously confused. She rushed to him, offering a hand to help him up. "Oh my god are you okay?"
"Y- yeah." He blinked, shaking his head, and then took her hand as she helped him up. She let herself hold as long as he would let her, reasoning that he would need to be stabilized but knowing it was really because this was probably the last time she'd ever touch him again. "Where am I?"
"You looked like you were going on a walk and you just collapsed." She slipped out her phone with some quick thinking. "I was taking pictures."
That's when his eyes landed on her. He made the same expression he had the first time he'd seen her, if with a little more confusion now. "Why?"
"I enjoy the beauty of nature," she slowly offered, a spike a fear running through her as she wondered if it hadn't worked.
He seemed to chuckle though, his hand that she'd been holding now holding her hand instead. "All you have to do to see art is look in the mirror."
Despite herself, she blushed. "Well thank you." She pulled her arm away, stepping back. It was time to stay goodbye. "Make sure you get back to school safely, why don't you? Wouldn't want a pretty face like yours to get messed up with another fall."
His eye slight up and she internally cursed herself. STOP FLIRTING WITH HIM! "You know, it's customary for the knight in shining armor to escort the princess back to safety."
"You do know that you're the princess in this situation," she reminded, a smile growing.
"I am," he confirmed rather proudly. "And since you're my knight in shining armor, how about I buy you dinner? As a thank you."
She almost said yes. Almost. She remembered what she'd just said. How keeping secrets ruined relationships. And how could she have a relationship with him when there was so much he'd forgotten? It would be unfair to her, and even more so to him. She didn't get to keep being happy when she'd taken away from him the exact thing she'd gotten mad at him for suggesting she leave. The Order was for Y/n what the Knights were for Randall. Even if it was to save his life, she had a lot to answer for. So she panicked, and said the first thing that came into her mind instead. "I... have a boyfriend." Her face scrunched. What an odd thing to say when just moments before she'd flirted with him. "Sorry. I..." She rubbed the back of her neck. "I'm happy with him."
He backed off immediately. "I get it, no worries. Thanks anyway."
Nodding, she walked away. Her fingers death gripped her phone as she stared at the ground as she walked. The only thought she could muster was: You shouldn't be thanking me.
-
Y/n had been struggling to keep herself together, but at the very least she'd had the freedom to be away from any reminders of Randall when she was doing Order stuff.
Now they were here too.
"Y/n, right?"
The girl turned to face the person talking to her and had to steel herself so she wouldn't cry. "Yeah." Her voice came out in a rasp and she cleared her throat. He kept looking at her like he was trying to understand. She couldn't understand what was so interesting to him, but his look made her want to combust into flames. Randall's gaze usually made her feel warm, but not it was like someone had turned the temperature up a hundred degrees. It was unbearably painful.
"I was just wondering if you could help me with something."
She moved away as he went to step closer, shrinking into herself. "Please ask someone else."
That seemed to confuse him. "But-"
"She gave you an order, Neophyte," Alyssa said calmly. Her hands were behind her back and she was giving Randall a warning look. It wasn't angry like she'd been with Jack when he'd first joined. It was almost... panicked. Y/n could understand. Alyssa of all people knew how weak Y/n's self control was when it came to Randall, and if she burst into tears just because he'd talked to her it would have set off a lot of questions.
Randall seemed pissed. "Fine." He turned around and left and Y/n almost became a puddle from how hard she'd melted in relief.
Y/n turned to Alyssa. "I- I can't do this anymore, Lys. Please just- maybe I should just quit. And forget. I haven't been helping you at all with the dust and it's getting so complicated and I- I- I can't lie to him anymore." Her eyes were watering and she'd begun to hyperventilate.
"You can't forget," Alyssa rushed, her eyes wide with panic.
"Why not?" Y/n demanded. "It's been six months of me sitting here and trying to deal with the fact that I made him forget everything that mattered to him, including me. And for what? It didn't work, and they're going to kill him anyway!"
Suddenly Y/n's brain shut down.
They were going to kill Randall.
Tears were streaming as she leaned against the wall behind her, soft sobs emitting from her as she tried to muffle them with her hand. Her chest constricted and she doubled over, covering her face. Alyssa tried to touch her and shrunk away, a shiver running down her spine as her body coiled so tightly it hurt. "Y/n please-"
In response, the girl on the floor shook her head frantically before her body began to vibrate. She was having a breakdown. It had been the worst six months of her life and Y/n had a soft heart. She didn't hurt people. She didn't betray people who she cared about - people who trusted her. She was a good person through and through. She handled everything to the best of her ability, guided by a strong conscious. Everything she was doing now went against that driving force that demanded she do what was right. Nothing made sense anymore, and she couldn't handle feeling lost on top of feeling both guilty and alone. They were all emotions she couldn't handle. She wasn't built to deal with it.
It was as if Alyssa could sense the exact moment she could no longer help Y/n. The blonde spun around, running. In the distance she was yelling something but Y/n didn't care. Not until two people came back, one kneeling in front of her and reaching out, concerned. Y/n made a mental note not to break down in the temple again. What were they going to do? Help her? No, the Order would be much more eager to just wiper her memory. On second thought, that might not be so bad.
"Y/n, please talk to me." Her head snapped up to lock eyes with Randall of all people. "Wh-" She shook her head. "No," she moaned, putting her head back between her legs. "Don't help me."
He sighed. "Y/n I know." Just like that Y/n was still, her eyes wide as she slowly looked not at Randall, but at Alyssa. The blonde shrunk away in surprised fear at the look of murder on Y/n's face.
"You... told him?"
"They remembered," Alyssa rushed to explain as she twisted her hand around her wrist nervously. "Their healing was just helping them get used to the dust, like someone adjusting to a drug. I had to do something, I-"
Y/n shot to her feet, rushing at Alyssa. Randall caught her by some miracle. She didn't even process him though. "He's going to die now!"
"What?" Randall snapped.
"No one is going to die." Alyssa huffed, her voice tight. "We will figure this out. But- Y/n I need your help."
Y/n grunted, twisting her body to slam her foot on top of Randall's. He yelped and flew back from her and she closed the distance between her and the Alyssa. "You got me into this whole mess. You brought Vera to the Den and that's how she found out about the wolves. You convinced me to agree, and then continued to convince me to stay. Because you needed a friend and if they found out, they'd die. Now you've gone behind my back and made some alliance with them and you want my help again?"
Alyssa let out a sharp breath, her body shuddering. "I'm just trying to figure this out, Y/n. I know how hard this all is I'm sorry I just- I'm trying to keep them alive, and if they didn't get answers it was going to make everything so much worse."
"Then why didn't you tell me they remembered?" Y/n demanded. "What did you tell Randall when he asked who I was or why I did what I did? Do you even know why? Did you take away my opportunity to explain it to him myself, without other people muddling up what really happened? Fuck you Alyssa." She spun around to run off but was stopped dead as her eyes locked with Randall's.
"You... were the one who dusted me?" Alyssa's help had aided in returning memories much more quickly, and in bigger chunks, but for each of the wolves it had worked differently. For Hamish, it had been from when they'd lost their memories and backward. For Jack, it had been returned to him all at once. For Lilith, it had come very quickly in tiny tidbits. For Randall, it was in huge chunks but very slowly. As Y/n revealed she had been the one to do it, he got his first bad memory of the girl. The day she'd taken his memory.
Y/n was stunned. "You... didn't know?"
Alyssa cleared her throat. "I.. think I should go." She dipped around them and raced out before either could stop her. Not that they cared much to.
"Randall, please-"
"She didn't tell me anything," Randall told her. His voice wasn't malicious as she expected, but it was hard. She wasn't sure what that meant. Was he mad? Sad? Scared? Secretly planning some violent revenge? "That's why I came up to you. I thought... I know we were together before, but I don't know everything. Every time I saw you I got more, but... not everything. Alyssa says that in two or three days all of our memories will be back again. I thought talking to you might unlock if we weren't together anymore, or where we'd left off... I guess it wasn't great."
Y/n couldn't find the words. "I can't even think of how to apologize to you. Just, please understand that I did it so they wouldn't kill you. I figured you living out your life without me would be safer for you, if anything. You'd be happy. And you were happy. I know how hard it was, and what it cost. It cost being a wolf, and that was something special. Like magic is to me. And I... I can't imagine what it would be like to realize your best friend doesn't even care about you. I was so mad when I found out. But if I had done anything, I would have forgotten you too. And- and sometimes I wanted to, but I thought that I should hurt. Because I made you hurt. I-" She cringed away, flinching away from her as he met her gaze again. "I'm so sorry Randall."
His jaw worked as he let this new information roll around in his head. "I'm angry," he realized. Y/n's head fell forward in shame. "But... not at you, I don't think." She stared at the ground in shocked, too scared to look at his face again and see he was being sarcastic, or cruel. "I'm mad at the Order. I'm mad they forced you to do this. Honestly, I think I would have done the same. I can't imagine having to choose your life or your magic. I don't blame you- you made the right choice. If you hadn't, you'd have forgotten and I could just as well be dead."
Now Y/n did look up. "You... forgive me?"
After a second, he shook his head. "There's nothing to forgive you for. I got the good memories first, Y/n. I got the cuddling and the crying when I stepped on bugs, and the stressing about tests together, and watching you get decked because someone was nasty to me. Back when we were still pretending to be just friends and I flirted with someone to see if you'd get jealous. To see if you liked me. And it was a guy, and this older woman was really nasty to me. You stood up for me, and when her husband reacted poorly and you were on the floor.... god I was so lucky those police officers were nearby because I almost shifted right then and there." He smiled a little. "You love me, and I love you. And you were faced with a bad choice and an even worse choice. I'm just so glad that I can come back to you, rather than having to go through even more shit to get you to remember to." He sighed, shaking his head again. "I've been through so much, Y/n. We- both have, actually. This world of our is shit, and it's really hard to deal with alone. Can we just get passed this and be happy? You make being happy so much easier."
Y/n beamed. "Of course Randall."
They shared their first kiss in six months, and it was a relief to both of them. It was also a promise. A promise that no matter what, it was always them. They were together, through thick and thin. It was Y/n and Randall and it would always be Y/n and Randall. No matter what to get between them in the future, they'd figure it out and stick together. Because fuck everything else if they lost what they had. Love was more powerful than any magic. More important too.

Narancia and NB!Reader
Nara tries to comfort a Nonbinary reader while they are feeling really dysphoric
||Fluffy one shot with a little bit of angst for your soul||
~~~
This may or may not be me projecting a little but shhhh.
Y/n hears a knock on their door as they are curled up in their bed. They haven’t been feeling all that good and haven’t left the bed in fear of accidently seeing them selves in the mirror. “Hey y/n? Are you okay?” Narancia knocks on the door before coming in and seeing a y/n shaped lump under the blankets. He didn’t see them at all today and started to get a little worried. He asked around the gang but no one saw them either so here we are now.
He has only seen y/n like this a few times but he’s learned what it means. When he saw them in this state for the first time he panicked and thought they were dead. But they eventually explained to him why they do this and how they feel. And since then he has slowly gotten the hang of comforting them.
Narancia crawls into y/n bed next to them but still doesn’t quite cuddle them. They roll over with tears in their eyes from the awful feeling. It hurts Narancia to see his partner hurt like this but he doesn’t quite know what to say so he just pulls them close. “I really hate this Nara..” a few tears roll down their cheeks on to his chest. “I know I’m really sorry you have to feel this y/n.” They sit there for a few minutes just cuddling before Narancia sits up, “I’ll be right back okay?” he wipes away their tears before running off to wherever.
Ever since they were little y/n has never really fit in with any one, always going back and forth between the boys and the girls but still not feeling right. Even in middle school they had a few identity crises once puberty hit but it all came full swing a few years ago when they could barely get out of bed.
Soon Narancia came back and y/n was pushed out of their dark thoughts. “Hey y/n. I got you one of my super big sweat shirts i-if you wanna put it on? A-And then we can that movie you really like! Ill even make us some pop corn!” His optimistic enthusiasm makes a tiny smile sneak across their face. So they finally sit up and nod, “Sounds good.” They slip on his sweat shirt and slowly make their way off the bed, weary of the mirrors. They then stand up and he stops them, “Wait wait hold on.” he grabs one of the fuzzy blankets off their bed and proceeds to wrap them up like a burrito, making you giggle a tiny bit. He then walks back and looks at you with a goofy smile, proud of what he’s done.
“Wait how am I going to-?” they question before getting cut off by Narancia scooping them up bridal style. He walks them out to the living area, sets them down on the couch and gives a little peck on their forehead. “Good?” he smiles. They answer back with a little nod before he walks off again. He then comes a couple minutes later with a couple of bottles of water and some pop corn. “Bruno always says you can get dehydrated from crying so try to drink some water.” He sets it on the side table before setting up their favorite movie. He then snuggles up next to them with the pop corn in his lap.
Throughout the movie they start to relax and feel better, wiggling out of the blanket so the two can properly cuddle under it. Somewhere towards the end they doze off to sleep on their boyfriends shoulder from the exhaustion of crying and stress. Narancia notices and eventually turns off the movie bringing them back up stairs as quiet as he can and snuggles into bed. “I love you y/n,” he whispers before pecking their head and dozing off with them.
Yknow, it’s phkin weird how my brain works.
I am a queer transmasc enby, mostly male-attracted, but I’m bi so occasionally a woman will spark my fancy. And like, I am a guy. I identify as a nonbinary guy, but I can’t shake the expectations I developed for relationships being raised as a cis girl. Even more than that a cis girl being raised by conservative Catholic parents.
I want a guy who can take charge, who has a quiet dominance to him, who will take care of me when it gets hard. I want someone who will dote on me a little, who will tease and fluster me because they think it’s cute when I get embarrassed and try to hide my flushed face. I want a guy who isn’t afraid of the challenges that would arise dating me with all of my issues, mental and physical health-wise, along with some lovely things from my past that like to torment me, dangling over my head constantly like the sword of damocles. Someone who can scoop me up and help me regain feeling after the numbness of a depressive episode and who can con me into calming down and laying with him to watch a movie instead of doing something I’ll regret while manic.
Because I want to feel cared for and safe, but I also want to be able to do the same for him. I want to tease and fluster him, remind him that I love him. I want to be his best friend, his person, the one who he can turn to for help, for comfort, to share in joy and pain with. I want to care for him in my own way.
But that’s such a traditional concept. It’s a traditional male/female Christian couple standard, and I’m aware of that, but gods, I ache for it. I really do.
Sometimes I think I was not built for love. My love hurts those I care for, and theirs is never what it seems to be or what I need. Maybe in another life...
“You?” Chloe raised an eyebrow as she paused in filing her nails to glance over at Alya. “Your little gossip rag definitely doesn’t have anything good on it, let alone the ‘best’.”
One of Alya’s eyes twitched in anger as she rounded on Chloe, but Rose launched up from her seat and said, “That sounds amazing! Knowing you, I’m sure it’s something great!”
“Rose is right,” Marinette added. “What have you got for us?”
Annoyance vanished from Alya’s face as excitement washed over her again. “Check it out, girl!”
Alya practically lunged over the boys’ desk to shove her phone at Marinette, which meant that while she was leaning toward it, Nino and Adrien were poking their heads over out of curiosity. Marinette’s heart pounded in her chest when she realized her face was only a few centimeters from an oblivious Adrien. If she just moved a little…
“Woah, babe! That’s a legit pic of the hero dudes!”
Marinette pried her attention away from Adrien to actually look at the phone. Sure enough, there she was - or more accurately, there was Dragonbug. Sitting in the lap of Snake Noir, both of them looking exhausted and on the verge of falling asleep, the very image of adorable. Her cheeks heated up at the sight of it. Out of context it looked pretty incriminating. After all, how could an outside observer really understand just how close they were, how comfortable they felt around each other? But just because they were close didn’t mean they were… together or anything. They were just friends!
The worst part was she couldn’t remember when that had been. It happened so often, it could’ve been any time in the last couple months. Some of the other students started crowding around to get a sneak peek of the next big Ladyblog post.
“I knew it’d happen eventually!” Alya cackled in satisfaction. “Ladynoir is setting sail, boys and gals and nonbinary pals!” She rubbed her hands together. “I always knew they were secretly a thing.”
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Alya.” Marinette held up a hand as if to slow her down. “We always knew they were really close as teammates. Is this really anything different than that?”
“Mm… I don’t know,” Rose said as she looked at the photo. “I’m an expert on all things romantic and they definitely look like they are super cuddly! Way more than ‘just teammates’.”
“Yeah,” Alya said, crossing her arms. “And besides, girl, it took you forEVER to admit that the cat had a thing for the bug. I’m not about to stand by and let you sink my second favorite ship.”
Alya didn’t leave any room for doubt about what she considered her favorite ship as she glanced briefly toward Adrien and winked at Marinette.
“I’m just saying,” Marinette said, getting a little exasperated. Why was she always the only one arguing that she wasn’t dating Chat Noir? “Maybe they just like being friends? Is there anything wrong with that?”
“Marinette’s right.”
Help came from an unexpected source as Adrien spoke up, making her stomach flutter as he turned to look at her.
“I am? I mean, yes! Right. Correct, that’s me.”
Alya pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head, but Adrien didn’t seem to mind the babbling. Instead, he just nodded along.
“Ladybug and Chat Noir are a great team. Whether or not they are dating, they have an amazing friendship. Isn’t that enough?”
“Exactly!” Marinette replied. “We should respect their privacy and take what they say at face value. If they say they aren’t dating, they aren’t dating.”
Alya rolled her eyes and took her seat, slouching against the back and reading the blog post over one more time. “Yeah, fine, I guess. That’s fair.”
Marinette was just about to relax when Adrien said one more thing.
“I mean, I’m the biggest Ladynoir shipper there is so I’d be thrilled if they got together, but like Marinette said, we should respect their privacy.”
“Woah there, blondie,” Alya said, phone forgotten on the table as she suddenly sat up straight. “You might be a big Ladynoir shipper, but you are no way the biggest.”
“Well, it’s like you said.” Adrien smirked, a surprisingly glint of mischief in his eyes. “Ladynoir is only your second favorite ship.”
As the two of them started playfully arguing, Marinette felt her soul leave her body. Her crush was shipping her with someone else entirely. Could her life get any weirder?
DREAMS.
BASED ON the song dreams by dua lipa SUMMARY : robin knows that the likelihood of finding a girlfriend in a small town like hawkins is slim-to-none, and that any girl she likes is more likely to call her a creep than reciprocate her affections. robin knows this, and yet it doesn’t stop her from having romantic dreams about her friend y/n l/n, much to her dismay. PAIRING : robin buckley x female!reader WARNINGS : slight angst, cursing, plenty of pinning and longing. y’all should be used to this by now WORD COUNT : 2525 with lyrics, 2413 without lyrics A/N : i’ve had this in my drafts for so long and never finished it until now. also, for any nonbinary readers : i am so sorry that i have no oneshots that are explicitly gender neutral all the way through please forgive me i promise that i will make it up to you.
robin peaked out from scoops ahoy's kitchen to get a look at the line.
shit, she thought. there, third from the front, was y/n.
robin had known it was her as soon as she'd heard her tinkling laugh; she'd know that laugh anywhere. she'd been hoping against hope that it wasn't her, but apparently luck was not on her side today, because there was y/n in all her ethereal beauty.
she can’t be here today! not today! why today?
last night my fantasies became oh-so true you said you wanted me as much as i want you if i said it hadn't crossed my mind then oh baby, i'd be lying it just got complicated, i don't know what to do
seeing y/n in scoops ahoy wouldn’t have been so much of a problem if it wasn’t for the dream robin had had the previous night. the dream about her.
in the dream, y/n had told her that she was in love with her, despite what she knew everyone else would say about it, and that she wanted to be with her. really be with her, with all the mushy cheek kisses and hand-holding crap that robin typically hated. and dream-robin had been eating that shit up; boy, had she been eating it up.
robin had thought about y/n like that before, sure - would even go so far as to say that she had a crush on the girl - but had never felt for her as powerfully as she did in that dream. had never felt so full of hopeless longing for her that she was ready to burst. had never felt the way she’d felt for tammy thompson for anyone else since graduating.
she’d been unprepared, then, for the slew of emotions that startled her awake, and was even more unprepared to see y/n today. seeing her made things complicated - more complicated than they already were - and robin didn’t think she could handle that.
can i get it like that, that, that ? lemme know ‘cause i really like that, that, that when you go and i know it’s not real, but the way that i feel i just need to know ( know, know, know )
she knew so very well that it had just been a dream, that it wasn't real, and that y/n was the kind of girl that attracted - and was attracted to - guys. the kind of girl who didn’t like girls the way robin did.
but that didn’t stop robin from wanting her with the entirety of her being. she wanted someone as kind, as curious, as intelligent, as beautiful - both inside and out - as y/n was.
and even though it had been a dream, robin desperately wanted what y/n had said in that dream to have been true.
realizing that she had been staring, robin pulled her head out of sight quickly. god, she hoped no one had seen her staring, because what would they say about her then, if anyone’d seen her looking at y/n the way she had been? very unfriendly and anti-gay things, robin was sure of it.
falling against the wall next to the kitchen door, robin let herself replay the dream from the previous night in her head. god, it really had been a wonderful dream . . .
in my dreams you'd say you need me, believe me in my dreams you'd say you love me, say you'll never leave my dreams in my dreams
robin had been asleep for at least a good hour and a half when she heard the click, click, click on the glass of her bedroom window. her hearing was still fuzzy from sleep, but somehow she knew exactly what the sound that had woken her was.
she sat up and pushed her covers off with a grumble, eyes still half-lidded. her feet touched her bedroom floor, and in less than a second robin was standing in front of her window, which was funny, seeing as she didn’t recall taking any steps.
she rubbed the sleep from her eyes with her left hand so that she could properly see, while her right reached up to push the curtain to the side. robin blinked her eyes open when she was through and looked out into the darkness of the night.
her eyes bugged out of her head when she saw y/n standing on the grass beneath her window, hand full of pebbles from the neighbors’ yard, sporting a smile that was somehow shy and devilish all in one.
she had clearly seen robin pull the curtain open, judging by the look on her face, but she didn’t seem to care enough to stop the next pebble - it hit robin’s window with a soft click.
cursing under her breath and not bothering to dwell on the fact that she was pretty sure y/n had no clue where she lived, robin pushed the window up as quietly as she could and stuck her head out to glare down at the girl below her.
"y/n?" robin whisper-shouted, trying her best not to wake up her parents. "what the hell are you doing here? it's 1:30 in the morning!" she hadn’t checked the time when she’d gotten out of bed, but somehow she knew that that was the correct time.
y/n just continued to grin up at her. the pebbles were no longer in her hand. y/n raised her eyebrows in a clear question, and robin felt something in her gut pulling her towards her closet.
she let it drag her there, and opened the closet door to find a rope ladder she didn’t remember having piled on the floor.
in the blink of an eye robin was back by the window, opening it all the way and throwing the rope ladder down to y/n. it was almost as if y/n hadn’t had to climb at all, because by robin’s next blink she was at the top of the rope ladder, grinning at her from outside.
“hey robin,” y/n said softly as she climbed though the window. her grin had softened now; she looked more like the y/n robin was used to. she found herself relaxing.
instead of greeting her as well, robin grumbled, “you didn’t answer my question.”
“what question?”
robin rolled her eyes. “the ‘what are you doing here?’ question, dingus,” she said.
“oh, that,” y/n replied. a tinkling laugh that sent shivers up robin’s spine followed. “i came here tonight to tell you something," she said, stepping closer.
robin gulped, and though she wanted to look down at the floor to avoid eye contact, it was like her eyes were glued to y/n; she was unable to take them off of her, no matter how hard she tried. she was frozen in place, with nothing to do but watch the pretty girl in front of her.
“o-oh?” she asked, voice catching in her throat. she mentally cursed herself and her inability to keep it cool.
“yeah,” came y/n’s reply, voice barely above a whisper. she was getting ever closer, though it was taking much longer than robin knew it should have; time was very, very wonky.
but then she blinked, and there was y/n, standing so close to her that they were sharing breath.
"and what is it you came to tell me, n/n?" robin sounded just as breathless as she felt. she glanced from y/n’s eyes down to her lips and back up again. "what's so important that you couldn't wait 'til tomorrow to tell me?"
y/n was silent for a long, drawn out moment, and a sick feeling began to gnaw  away at robin’s stomach. she knew that if y/n didn't tell her whatever it was soon, she probably never would, and she would miss out on something great.
“i came to tell you that i need you,” y/n breathed, and robin felt her head begin to spin.
robin was astonished. “what?” she croaked, voice catching on the vowel. she hadn’t been expecting y/n to say that. “what do you mean, you need me?”
“i mean exactly what i said. i need you robin.” robin’s eyes were frozen on y/n’s, and she watched as y/n’s gaze flickered down to her lips for a brief moment before meeting hers again. “i need you so, so much.”
“i don’t understand,” robin replied, and the thinness of her own voice surprised her. she was vaguely aware that head was beginning to hurt, too; a dull, barely-there throb at the base of her neck. y/n was blurring at the edges now, as if robin’s vision was sliding in and out of focus.
“i’m in love with you.”
robin sucked in a quick, sharp breath at that. her head was pounding now, and her blood was rushing in her ears. “i - what?”
y/n rolled her eyes. she would’ve looked exasperated if it wasn’t for the fond smirk that graced her lips. in a flash, y/n was standing impossibly closer, and robin had just enough time to wonder why her soft palm was cupping her cheek before she kissed her.
robin didn’t even remember closing her eyes, but the next thing she knew, light was exploding behind her eyelids, and a pleasant warm, fuzzy feeling was crawling it’s way up and settling itself in her belly. kissing y/n was nice. she tasted like lemon and cherry, and her lips were cool and soft against robin’s, which were warm and chapped.
just as robin was beginning to melt into the kiss, though, a loud crash sounded from somewhere down the hall from her room. robin jumped away from y/n, turning to stare at her closed door. her previously fuzzy eyesight had cleared up, and she could see her door in stunning clarity. it was almost too clear.
“i should probably go,” y/n said, and robin whipped back around to face her.
“what? why?”
“because i don’t want to get you in trouble with your parents for having a friend sneak over in the middle of the night, and i don’t want my parents figuring out i’m gone.”
robin knew that this was logical, but couldn’t stop herself from blurting out, “friend?”
y/n’s eyebrows drew together in confusion for a moment, and then a look of realization passed over her face and she laughed softly. “you think i meant we’re just friends, hmm?”
robin nodded dumbly. her vision was blurring at the edges again.
“i meant that that’s what they’ll think if they catch me in here. they’ll think we’re just friends. we’re not just friends, robin. i kissed you, after all, didn’t i?”
again, robin nodded. she blinked, once, twice, and then they were in front of her window. y/n crawled out onto her roof legs first, and when it was just her upper half that was left to go through the window, y/n propped herself up on the window sill with her elbows. “don’t i get a goodbye kiss?” she asked, and robin smiled.
she leaned down, and just as their lips brushed, robin was startled awake.
robin shuddered. fuck, that dream sent chills up her spine in the best possible way, even if parts of it hadn’t been at all realistic.
she wanted to be able to hold y/n like dream robin had. why couldn’t she hold y/n the way dream robin had?
because y/n doesn’t like girls, she answered herself, and robin sighed. the world was so unfair.
she was startled out of her thoughts upon hearing steve’s loud, overly cheerful voice greeting another very special customer.
“y/n!” she heard steve say. “what, couldn’t stay away from your favorite ice cream scooper?”
“oh yeah,” came y/n’s reply, “i love the little metal guy you use to scoop up people’s ice cream, steve. where is he?”
robin’s face split into a grin, and imagined steve’s cocky smile sliding right off his face, replaced by a straight mouth and narrowed eyes as clearly as if she were watching it happen.
“haha,” steve said humorlessly. “very funny.”
and there was that goddamn laugh again, light and beautiful. “i always am, steven.”
“don’t call me that,” he grumbled back. “just give me your damn order, y/n.”
robin didn’t have to listen to know what she would say; she had served y/n enough time to know her usual by heart.
it was quiet out front, save for the ceaseless mall-chatter, until steve said something that made robin’s stomach drop down into her feet.
“hey,” he said, and his voice was softer now than it normally was. “would you wanna, i dunno . . . go see a movie with me sometime?”
robin nearly choked on her own spit. was steve really asking y/n out?
it appeared that he was, and y/n was fucking laughing again, so fucking sweet and fucking perfect, and not fucking because of her. despite her gut telling her not to, robin peaked her head back out of the kitchen and watched, horrified, as y/n smiled her big, perfect smile at steve.
“what, you mean like on a date?” she asked, and her voice was as sweet as ever. as sick as robin felt, she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the nightmare that was playing out in front of her.
“yeah,” steve replied, looking down awkwardly at the ice cream he was holding. “if you wanna. you don’t . . . er, you don’t have to. you know - you know what, just forget i -”
y/n cut him off. “i’d be happy to go see a movie with you, steve.”
steve’s head snapped back up so fast that a pang shot through the back of robin’s neck. “really?” his voice jumped up an octave at the end. he cleared his throat. “i mean, cool. cool, cool, cool.”
though robin could hardly see his face from the angle she was at, she could just see one corner of his mouth turned up in a small smile, and felt a pang in her chest. y/n was making him so happy.
as if just remembering the ice cream he was holding, steve swore under his breath and handed it to y/n, then reached behind the counter and grabbed a pile of napkins, which he handed to her as well. she took them both gratefully, and while she may have imagined it, robin was sure that y/n had let her hand rest against steve’s for a second longer than was normal.
“thanks for the ice cream, stevie,” she said, eyes big an innocent.
“n-no problem, y/n.”
she smiled sweetly at him and waved. “bye, steve!”
“bye, y/n! see you - see you later!”
y/n turned and walked away from the counter, and robin watched her as she left the store, heart thumping heavily. she knew it. she knew it. she knew she had no chance with y/n. she had even less of a chance now that steve had asked her out. robin didn’t stand a chance against steve. she didn’t stand a chance against any boy that wanted to ask y/n out, really. because girls like y/n didn’t like girls the way that robin did.
