my really self-indulgent hc is that Thorn is unhealthily attached to Fox, who is also the same way but not as severely. their relationship comes off as "man with a weapon" to several others, which i like to make Fox uncomfortable with sometimes when he remembers that's how Palpatine uses Thorn to get rid of anybody he wants (also a hc). Thorn doesn't help because he realizes the parallels too but finds purpose and comfort with being specifically Fox's "weapon", since he knows Fox would never treat him as just a weapon or means to an end. Fox doesn't really see it that way since he doesn't fully trust himself, and wants Thorn to be truly free from any of that, but feels stuck since he is Thorn's Commander and actually does order Thorn around to get rid of (kill or threaten) people or do other actions to further Fox's own goals, and there isn't much "well actually" he can say about it (especially since he enjoys Thorn being so loyal, trusting, and caring towards him as well as the general feeling of having power, no matter how much he denies it) to justify it to himself. so even if he does love Thorn, he feels as though he's doing it all wrong. they're having a normal one all day every day.

fluffcember day twenty four: hot bath

took an alternate prompt for today. this follows from day 13: fire and ice.

fox ran his fingers along the rim of the metal tub, eyeing it—and its contents—dubiously. the frozen figure within the tub had been swaddled in every towel they could scrounge from around coruscant guard hq, and shiv had sent her medic assistants to start heating water.

“are you sure this is the correct procedure? it feels… primitive,” fox said, his fingers curled around the tub.

the figure inside had no comment to make, of course. they hadn’t said anything since fox had recovered their pod from the abandoned ship. they hadn’t done anything but breathe, and even that had been a surprise to fox and the rest of the recovery team.

looking up from her datapad, shiv gave fox her least impressed look. she had quite the range: this particular one made fox feel like a cadet with his flightsuit on backwards. he shifted in place and withdrew his hand, tucking it behind his back.

“not that i’m a medic,” he said, to save shiv from saying it.

a snort came from behind fox, where medic gristle was attending to something or other, but as fox didn’t actually see them, he didn’t have to charge them with insubordination.

shiv, standing barefaced and unimpressed in full sight, wasn’t worth the headache.

she nodded, as if in agreement with fox’s internal concession, and returned to her datapad.

“we don’t know how long your friend has been in stasis for, and i couldn’t find the model of their pod on the holonet. bringing them to a warmer temperature gradually will likely be less catastrophic than dunking them through a standard thaw sequence.” she gestured toward the patient in the shallow tub, where gristle had begun to slowly pour warm water in. “hence, the bath.”

“i thought immersion was bad for hypothermia. we covered that in emergency flash training.” fox was reasonably sure they had, though admittedly there hadn’t been much call for using said training on coruscant. he might’ve misremembered.

note to self: check training refresh with thorn.

“for hypothermia, yes. for stasis?” shiv shrugged in an fashion that was not reassuring. “well, they can’t get any worse off.”

“they could die.”

that seemed worse off to fox. but he wasn’t a medic, so what did he know?

a nudge to his arm had fox moving aside to make way for gristle, who delivered a typically placid look at fox.

“we’ll look after them, sir. you have my word.”

“let me know if—“

“we’ll let you know,” shiv interrupted, saving fox from voicing his fears. she waved a hand at him. “do run along and get out of my medbay, will you? you’re messing up the place.”

fox wondered briefly if cody had to contend with similar bullying from his medics.

fox got.

three days later, a message arrived on fox’s comm. your freeze-dried nattie is ready for pick-up.

fox dragged himself up from the chancellor’s office floor and went to see what problems he’d caused himself.

three days after that, fox had the distinct pleasure of introducing bucky barnes, formerly frozen soldier from a planet fox had never heard of, from a time he didn’t believe existed, to the 773 firepuncher sniper rifle and a quiet spot with sightlines to the senate floor.

three minutes later, all of fox’s problems disappeared in one beautiful shot.

Description of Report: A full incident report regarding the chase and arrest of Yokonni Oret, after a break-in to the Metropolitan Museum of Coruscant

Full Report: See Below

At 03:45, 02.07., the Security Forces received an alert from the Metropolitan Museum of Coruscant. A nearby patrol arrived to the location at 03:51. The break-in was still ongoing when the patrol arrived, and quickly located the suspect at the second floor storage room. On arrival, the patrol noted that one museum employee had been killed (Pictures of the scene attached; see attachment 4A), presumably by the suspect. The suspect fled as the patrol approached them, not complying with orders to surrender. They appeared to have taken something from the storage room (For more information, see attachment 6C). They escaped through an opening on the wall, which is believed to be the reason the alarm system of the museum was triggered.

The patrol commenced a chase, and alerted other nearby patrols of a runaway suspect. The facial scans done by probe droids used by the patrol identified the suspect as Yokonni Oret (Male, 31, Tholothian; for more information, see attachment 8A). The suspect refused to comply with the orders given by the officers during the chase, continuing to flee.

The suspect was succesfully surrounded by the initial patrol and patrol 90913 at 04:21. The suspect turned hostile, and aimed a small thermal detonator towards few of the officers surrounding him. Officer Toma Geleni opened fire towards the suspect, hitting him once to upper left arm, and once to the detonator suspect was holding in their left hand. The detonator exploded from the force of the direct hit, and the subsequent explosion injured the suspect and three officers, who received mostly superficial injuries. The suspect suffered extensive burns to their head and to the shoulder area and to the left hand and arm. The suspect was detained at 04:27. Medical transportation was ordered to the scene by the reporting officer for both the suspect and for the injured officers (For more information, see attachment 11C). Medical transportation from the Lamoramora Medcenter arrived at the scene at 04:38. Reporting officer accompanied the suspect in the transportation vehicle, with four (4) medical officers attending to the suspect (For more information, see attachment 11E). The transportation arrived at the Lamoramora Medcenter at 04:59. The suspect was brought in for treatment that lasted until 07:15, after which he was contained to a private room 7765 at the Medcenter, with officers Rev'en and Thass remaining at the Medcenter.

The suspect was deemed too injured to be able to be questioned at the time, due to their extensive injuries preventing them from communication properly. The reporting officer returned to the Medcenter at 12:35, 06.07., to receive a statement from the suspect.

When the reporting officer asked for Yokonni Oret, the medic present requested a warrant, despite Oret being currently under arrest. When informed about this, the medic present claimed that Oret was admitted as a regular patient, and not by the Security Forces. After being presented the medic present with details from the case and the facial scans done by the probe droid, the reporting officer was brought into the room occupied by the suspect. Notably, the suspect had been transferred from the private room to a shared room with other patients, against the orders of the Security Forces.

The suspect still displayed heavy injuries on his head, and the questioning was executed by using an alternative communication device provided by the Security Forces. During questioning, the suspect refused to answer any questions given by the reporting officer, instead using the device provided to send other messages, that were irrelevant pertaining to the ongoing questioning (For more information, see attachment 18E). It was deemed that the suspect was not capable of answering to the questions done by the reporting officer, due to the severity of their injuries. It was decided that proper questioning would be done at a later date.

The reporting officer questioned the medical staff at the Lamoramora Medcenter for the reasons they had failed to comply with the orders given by the Security Forces regarding the suspect. The staff denied any failing to do so, and claimed that the suspect had not been brought in by the Security Forces at the date of the commited crime. The reporting officer received the logging infromation regarding the suspect; according to the Medcenter's system, the patient by the name Yokonni Oret was brought to the Medcenter at 02:01, 01.07., after a heavy assault.

When inquired about the suspect brought in at 02.07., the staff informed that the patient had been released by one of the Senior staff at 19.27 at 03.07. When asked to see the Senior staff member, the Medcenter informed that they had not returned back to work since (For more information, see attachment 20A).

Oret was detained, and moved into another private room, with officers stationed directly outside the room for the remaining time the suspect spent under medical treatment. They were transported to the Central Coruscant Detention Center at 13.11, at 15.07.

Nintendo Announces That The Switch's Successor Will Be The Wii U Again

Putting an end to months of intense anticipation and speculation, Nintendo announced today that the Nintendo Switch's successor console will have the exact same name as its predecessor, the Nintendo Wii U. It will also have the exact same technical specs and game library, and Nintendo projects the exact same lackluster sales.

In a press conference at the company's Kyoto headquarters, senior executive officer Yoshiaki Koizumi explained the reasoning behind the move: "We decided to release Wii U again because it's pretty good. It rules, actually. I love it."

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa further elaborated: "Nintendo Land was my shit. Game & Wario was so underrated. So was Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. So was Star Fox Zero. So was Animal Crossing amiibo Festival. So was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric." Furukawa went on to list every single Wii U exclusive game over the next minute and a half, as Koizumi cheered and applauded.

Also present at the press conference was legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto, who mostly talked about how much he misses Miiverse. "I'm so nostalgic for Miiverse. When I look back on my life, I realize that without exception, my most cherished memories and friendships all happened within Miiverse. In fact, it was in the Meme Run community that I met my current wife and children."

"Splatoon 1 is the best Splatoon," Furukawa continued. "Mario Maker 1 is the best Mario Maker. Hyrule Warriors 1 is the best Hyrule Warriors. Mario Kart 8 non-Deluxe is the best Mario Kart 8."

The press conference concluded with all three agreeing that the Nintendo Switch "sucks" and "ain't shit," deciding on the spot that they would deactivate its online servers in order to reconnect the Wii U ones as soon as possible. "If you like Switch better, I'm very sorry, but it's inferior and we're shutting it down."
