I started writing this seven years ago. I do not remember where I was planning to take it. I have not edited it. Have it anyway.

The breath in Kate’s throat catches and stutters when she sees the boy who just killed Xavin.

I know you, her brain whispers. I know your soul.

Right now, she thinks, as shuttered white eyes pass over them all without even noticing, she knows him better than he knows himself.

(They haven’t always been human, but… usually. Earth is where soulmate reincarnation is centered, in many ways. Most alien species don’t have it, and the ones that do only show it sporadically. The others of the Nine Realms have it more, but for some reason, Earth finds herself at the center of things once again.)

(He’s always a little special. An unnatural hair color here, a superpower there, always, always feared by the masses.)

(They should have really been more scared of Kate. She’s the one that always ran the program.)

He doesn’t recognize her, and that, more than anything, scares her. She doesn’t want to imagine what kind of a haze his mind must be in for him to not recognize her.

It doesn’t quite matter, if only because he kicks all their asses and runs off with Billy and Teddy and Xavin and Karolina in tow.

“We’re going to kill him.” Nico says, looking Kate in the eye and daring her to argue.

“No, we’re not,” Kate argues back. “He’s not in his right mind, Nico.”

“And how the hell would you know?” Nico demands.

“Because he’s my soulmate, and yet he didn’t recognize me.” Kate keeps her voice as even as she can.

Noh-Varr would absolutely lend Kate their jacket when she’s cold, except Noh almost never wears jackets and when they do the jackets are generally more for fashion than to keep warm. So instead Noh just sort of hugs Kate from behind/drapes themself over her shoulders, which usually works well enough

H: Do you prefer real-life TV shows or animated TV shows?

Thinking it over... long-term about the same, but with a preference towards live-action recently. It might be because my preferences have shifted towards docuseries and reality tv (lots of fashion and competition stuff) for background noise, which both tend to be live-action.

T: What are your favorite male/male ships or female/female ships?

I'm generally a multishipper and so it changes from day to day, but I've recently found myself coming back to Codakin and Pantress a lot.

V: Do you have any 3-way ships? If so, what?

SO MANY. Easy answer for recent stuff is Rexanidala, GG's main is obviously The GG OT3, Naruto was KYA, Voltron had Kallurance, etc.

The fun thing about my past experiences with being an SK fan, and other less-controversial-but-still-starting-fights ships, is that I have learned not to give a shit about my preferences online. Mainly I just get annoyed about The Bashing getting into fics I read.

Name: Kai-Varr. Kai is both an existing name on Earth, and on Hala. It means ‘mix’ in Kree, which seemed appropriate. 

Gender: They heavily identify as non-binary, but it took a while until they found a suitable gender identity that fit. Male and female are very specific human concepts, and since they are only half-human they don’t really see either of those things as a fit for them. So xenogender is how they identify.

General Appearance: Olive coloured skin with long white hair and piercing green eyes. They definitely have a striking look. Has an addiction to black skinny jeans.

Personality: Standoffish. Fiercely loyal to friends and family, but will destroy you if you try to mess with them. Doesn’t believe in casual acquaintances. When it comes to their inner circle, you’re either in or out, no half measures.

Special Talents: Typical Kree abilities. Is able to use their father’s gauntlets with ease, and both parents ensure she has fantastic aim if they should ever need to use a weapon.

Who they like better: Kate. She’s more nuturing and does the whole ice cream and bad movies shtick the first time they get their heart broken. Noh just hovered in the background and repeatedly asked if he could go break the boy’s legs.

Who they take after more: Noh. While physically a perfect combination of both parents, personality wise they get a lot from Noh. They love music, food, and exploring far flung lands. But they also get confused a lot, by how and why humans are the way they are. It just doesn’t make sense.

Personal Headcanon: When coming out as queer (both gender and sexuality wise) they were nervous as hell and threw up twice beforehand. They got through it just fine and was happily listening to Kate’s “we love you regardless, you’ll always be our child” speech when Noh interrupted and just said “wait, were we not supposed to know this? Was it a secret?” while looking confused. Kai just kind of sagged at the thought that they’re parents already knew, and Kate kicked Noh in the side for putting his foot in it.
