You would think that Fathers Day meant that you Thank your dad for just being “Dad”. Hence.... “Fathers Day”. Buy him a mower, new shoes, 6 pack of bud light or maybe some whiskey. Hug him, cook, All gather and then everyone gets stuffed and dad takes a nap. Sounds about normal right? I Love that but some people are given a different hand. Not in a bad way but in a Unique way. My dad never liked being the center of attention, (Guess that makes sense for him to be a drummer). Every time somebody wanted to sing him happy birthday or pull him up on a dance floor, he would literally just walk out and leave. Not being an asshole, not making a scene... just taking himself out of the situation and letting somebody else have it. So every time we tried to have a father day thing, he would call everyone and say “Hey don’t worry about me today, yall just stay home and I’ll see y’all for breakfast or something sometime”. No big presents, no big celebrations, all he wanted is for everyone to be okay and for everyone to not make a big deal. He never understood why he had to be praised on doing what he loved to do. He loved being a dad. He loved his kids and his grandkids. As long as everyone was healthy and happy, that’s all he needed. We would just sit at his table, in front of the TV and I would ask him how he got everyone to stay home THIS time. We would laugh about his answer, trade rudiments and play pool. By the end of the day, we would both go “WELP, I think it’s time to head off.” We would hug it out, say I Love you and go about our business. We both wanted the same thing for everyone. Especially for each other. I got everything I need because of him and I know that’s all he wanted. I’ll forever be grateful for that lesson cause it makes everything so much more simpler. If you got everything you need then I’m happy. No need for presents, just keep being Happy and I’ll do the same. Simple enough. He made it look So easy. Love ya dad. Thanks once again....P. S. He for sure wouldn’t want a social media post about him but I thought I’d share another awesome thing about him. That’s My Jam… Alone Without the Fam…

Family is out the door, the house belongs to me.

No one will be around for quite sometime, what am I going to do, hmm let me see?

I have a to-do list to start checking off, what would help speed this process along, I know listening to my favorite songs.

I run into my room, my ear phones are now on, I turn on the radio, and my hips start to swing from left to right as the beats start turning on.

Time to switch up as the talking DJ’s begin their mid day banter, I want to hear music I can loose myself in, not mindless chatter.

Swipe over to saved my saved play lists, yup my music selection is tight, this is freaking it.

Michael, Stevie, Luther and more…Bruno, Ne-yo, Usher; I no longer need a broom to sweep across the floor.

My body moves to the rhythm as if its been taken over, every beat hits me like the image of the fluttering bass or tremble.

I belt out the words for what feels like over an hour, I sing at the top of my lungs as if I was in the shower.

Song after glorious song plays to my delight, so many genres, moods and tones from the music makes me feel energetic and alright.

I shuffle, swing and step to the beat with little worry or fuss, whoops times up, my family just pulled up.
